In other news, this week a French publisher on his way to the London Book Fair was arrested by British counter-terrorist police to be questioned about his participation in protests in France.

A French publisher has been arrested on terror charges in London after being questioned by UK police about participating in anti-government protests in France.

Moret arrived at St Pancras [...] with his colleague Stella Magliani-Belkacem, the editorial director at the Paris-based publishing house, to be confronted by the two officers. [...] He was questioned for six hours and then arrested for alleged obstruction in refusing to disclose the passcodes to his phone and computer. [...] He was transferred to a police station in Islington, north London, where he remained in custody on Tuesday. He was later released on bail.

Éditions la Fabrique is known for publishing radical left authors. Moret also represents the French science fiction novelist Alain Damasio and had arranged more than 40 appointments at the London book fair. [...]

[Quoting publishing house’s press release] “The police officers claimed that Ernest had participated in demonstrations in France as a justification for this act – a quite remarkably inappropriate statement for a British police officer to make, and which seems to clearly indicate complicity between French and British authorities on this matter.” [...] “There’s been an increasingly repressive approach by the French government to the demonstrations, both in terms of police violence, but also in terms of a security clampdown.”

The publishing house (here’s their latest statement in French) and the publisher’s lawyer mention that the British police asked him “Do you support Emmanuel Macron? Did you attend protests against the pension reform?” and he was also asked to name the authors with anti-government views that his employer has published. They add, “Asking the representative of a publishing house, in the framework of counter-terrorism, about the opinions of his authors, is pushing even further the logic of political censorship and repression of dissenting thought. In a context of social protests and authoritarian escalation on the part of the French government, this aspect [of the questioning] is chilling.”

Being an accomplice to thoughtcrime by publishing dissident authors gets you treated like an international terrorist now... The publisher’s lawyer suggests that French authorities asked the UK to help them get their hands on the publisher’s contacts in the radical left sphere. But on the face of it, we’ve got: Exercise your right to protest your government in France -> get arrested by counter-terrorist UK police in London. That’s literally the reason he was given for being greeted by police at the train station...

Because of the nature of those platforms I will most likely have to upload everything as videos and add the needed links and transcription in replies. This would be a lot more work so let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Usopp is not pleased with the name because it doesn't sound tough enough. (Also maybe this is something they've practiced a few times on the ship. It's uniquely suited to them because Usopp is long ranged and trusts Sanji to catch him after. Also, Sanji is very used to catching, launching, and kicking Usopp, so he knows what works and what doesn't)

(this doesn't work with the others consistently because either they don't want to/fighting style doesn't fit with it, they know Sanji won't bother catching them, and/or Sanji himself does not want to launch them if he doesn't absolutely have to [Zoro; he is fine with that])

(alternatively, this works just fine with the others, but Sanji wants it to be his and Usopp's 'thing' unless absolutely necessary)

Just saw someone call wangxian "randoms" in comparison to the raven cycle gay guys... I'm giggling and chuckling . I WISH wangxian were randoms.

Are you and your partner planning on moving in together? If so... how long did it take for you to decide it was right?

We are! And I think like... After we cried one times too many after leaving each other at the airport?

And also personally, the early 2020-late 2021 travel ban that didn't allow people from my country to visit my partner's country unless they'd been to another, non-banned country for 14 days. It made it this much harder to be with each other, and it made me have regular meltdowns even when we DID manage to painstakingly meet up, so... My partner gave me a timeline and was like "OK, then we'll get married in X years" (getting married is pretty much the only way a foreigner like me can be allowed to stay in their country without being eventually kicked out, because of the joys of binational). I needed that kind of certainty and I'm immensly grateful to them that they gave it to me.

That timeline is underway, because my partner wanted more time to get their life together in many ways, so we haven't started engagement/visa proceedings, but... That's gonna be a journey for sure. To be fully honest, I'm not even 100% sure if governments will let us do it and whatnot. But we'll do our best to make it happen someday. It's just... Gonna take a while.

But yeah, honestly, at this point, I can't wait. Our meetups are sparse, more and more expensive, eating up at their already very scarce time off (I'm French so thankfully I have a bit more of that myself), and I'd like to be there for them more than the occasional "holiday" – but also through times when they're tired from work, for instance, and I could offer them comfort at the end of the day, that kind of thing. I also live in fear of another travel ban that long or longer hitting out of nowhere, and I want to make precautions so that they can't separate us like they did before ever again.

So yeah. It's gonna be tough and long. But I can't wait.

PS: I just realized I haven't answered the "how long" part exactly, so to give a bit of a timeline: we'd been in a long-distance queerplatonic relationship for about 2 years and a half when the travel ban hit, it had been almost 4 years when we decided on that marriage timeline, and it's been about 6 years now. I expect we'll have been going for about 8 to 10 years when we can finally get married, if everything goes well.

Finished creating the TY for 800+ Twitter followers GIF illustration; made it different resolutions for Twitter (15MB max) & Tumblr (10MB) & just a low-res version in general for platforms like Discord.

Then I realized of the 31 frames, there is a slight mistake with HL’s cape that carried over to 12 of the frames 😅 RIP. Originally I intended to post on Halloween but with the shadowban I got nothing but time, haha. I’ll post the full soon.
