photoshopped bc de-loused was in position 18 & 29 due to having a version with an en-dash and one with a minus in the name

previous part
You started to regain consciousness and felt like you were on a roller coaster with how much you jerked side to side. Lifting your head, you slowly blinked your eyes open and noticed that you were in the back of a car. Looking to your left and right, you saw Dustin and Mike staring back at you with concern. You felt something heavy in your lap and looked down and saw an unconscious Steve spread out on all three of their laps.
“What the fuck happened?” You asked, your voice still hoarse from Billy choking you.
“Well, Billy knocked you and Steve out, but don’t worry Max took care of him,” Dustin explained, bringing your attention to the young girl driving the car.
Your eyes widened in slight fear, realizing that the roller coaster feeling was from Max driving the car like a maniac. “Holy shit, pull over.”
“We’re almost there.” Lucas took a quick glance back at you before looking back at the map in his hands.
“Where?” You tried to shout, but it was barely above a whisper causing you to wince, “Where are we going?”
Before anyone could answer, they heard Steve start to wake up, groaning from having his face repeatedly punched. Steve slowly looked over to Mike, muttering out, “Nancy?”
Mike just gave him a confused look, and Steve brought his hand up his face touching his eyes. Dustin grabbed his hand and brought it back down, “No, don’t touch it.” Steve turned to look over at Dustin, still confused about what happened. “Hey, buddy, it’s okay you put up a good fight. He kicked your ass and completely choked out Y/N, but you both put up a fight.”
“Y/N?” Steve looked over at you who was trying to smile at him in reassurance.
“I’m going to need you to stay calm, okay?” You tried to caution him, knowing he would freak out once he noticed the middle schooler driving his car.
“Huh?”
“Okay, you’re gonna keep straight for half a mile, make a left on Mount Sinai,” Lucas instructed Max.
“What’s going on?” Steve finally looked to the front seat and saw Max was the one driving his car and immediately started freaking out like you thought he would. “Oh my god.”
“Just relax, she’s driven before.” Dustin tried to calm Steve down.
Mike decided to do the opposite, “Yeah, in a parking lot.”
“Not helping, Mike.” You hissed at the boy, nudging him with your elbow making him wince from the sharp pain to the rib.
“Oh my god.”
“They were gonna leave you both behind,” Dustin started to explain, “And I promised that you’d be cool, okay? Y/N is being cool about it.”
“I am freaking out on the inside,” You stated, your calm demeanor disappearing as Steve started to freak out more and Max sped up the car.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what’s going on?” Steve panicked as the car continued to speed up. “ Oh my god. No! Whoa! Stop the car. Slow down.”
“Max, slow down!” You screeched as best as you could.
“I told you he’d freak out.” Mike criticized.
“Everybody shut up! I’m trying to focus!” Max shouted, Steve continued to freak out.
You closed your eyes, not wanting to see what was happening anymore. You grabbed onto Steve’s hand in panic, you were too frightened to care that you grabbed his hand.
“Oh, wait, that’s Mount Sinai. Make a left.” Lucas warned, about the turn coming up. Max quickly turned left, smashing into a mailbox, making everyone scream as they were jostled around.
Max took a sharp turn into an empty field before quickly stopping in front of a giant hole in the ground.
“I told you… zoomer.” Max nonchalantly said after everyone’s screams quietened down.
The kids hurried out of the car and made their way to the trunk, putting on goggles and bandanas while Steve and you slowly made their way out confused about what the kids were preparing for.
“Oh, no guys.” Steve groaned, watching as Mike walked past them with a can of gasoline. “Hey, where do you think you’re going? What are you deaf? Hello?”
“We are not going down there right now. We made ourselves clear.” You tried to stop the kids along with Steve.
“Hey, there’s no chance we’re going to that hole, all right?” Steve grabbed a hold of something in Dustin’s hands, throwing it back in the trunk. “This ends right now!”
“Steve, you’re upset, I get it.” Dustin tried to reason with Steve while you stood listening. “But the bottom line is, a party member requires assistance, and it is our duty to provide that assistance. Now, I know you promised Nance that you would keep us safe. So keep us safe.”
Dustin reaches back in the trunk and grabs Steve’s backpack with his bat in it, trying to hand it to him. Steve looked at you to see that you had been persuaded and was nodding at him that they should do this. Steve looked back at Dustin, sighing as he grabbed the bag.
They each make their way down the rope into the hole after putting on goggles and bandanas to protect themselves from the Upside Down. You made your way down before Steve, and as soon as your feet touched the ground you froze.
It all reminded you of last year when you were stuck in the Upside Down with Nancy. While the floaties in the air were familiar, it was the atmosphere and the feeling of the Upside Down that choked you up and scared you the most.
As you stood there staring down the endless hole, you felt Steve land down behind you and quietly mumble ‘Holy shit’ but you continued to stand there frozen. You jumped a little when a hand landed on your shoulder.
Turning to the owner of the hand, you saw that it was Steve who brought you out of your scared state. “You okay?”
“Yeah.” You quietly replied, trying to keep yourself calm in a place that has brought you nightmares for half a year.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s this way.” Mike brought everyone’s attention to him, as he pointed a flashlight to the hand-drawn map they made to get them through the tunnels.
“You’re pretty sure, or you’re certain?” Dustin taunted, wanting to make sure they weren’t wandering aimlessly, but also wanting to call out Mike.
Mike quickly turned around to face Dustin and yelled at him, “I’m 100% sure. Just follow me and you’ll know.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hey, hey, hey.” Steve called out to Mike as he started to walk ahead, “I don’t think so. Any of you little shits die down here, Y/N and I are to blame. Got it, dipshit?” Steve grabbed the map out of Mike’s hands before turning to face the rest of the kids. “From here on out, I’m leading the way. Come on, let’s go.”
Steve and you quickly walked ahead with the kids now following them.
“Do you even understand that thing?” You quietly asked Steve.
“Umm, I’m sure I’ll figure it out.” Steve glanced down at the map, flipping it around a bit to try and figure out what the correct way is.
You reached over and flipped the map to face upright. Now seeing the map the correct way, Steve started to understand it a bit better, “Oh, now I get it.”
“This isn’t going to end well.” You muttered to yourself as you stopped to let some of the kids walk ahead of you so you could be near the ones in the back.
After walking for a bit, they made their way to a spot that had multiple tunnels to choose from. They stopped for a second as Steve figured out which one to go through and as they were standing, they each looked up and saw something pink at the top and it looked like it was breathing or was a heartbeat.
“What is this place?” Max asked no one in particular
“So disgusting,” You grumbled, hating every second you had to be in this place again.
“Guys, come on, keep moving,” Steve ordered as he found where they needed to go next.
You started following the rest thinking Dustin was right behind you, but realized he wasn’t when you heard him scream from the spot they were just standing.
“Help! Help! Help!” Dustin shouted to the rest of them, as they all started running back for him.
Once they made it back to Dustin, he tripped and fell to the ground in front of them.
“What happened?” Steve asked, worried for the kid that laid in front of him.
You crouched down in front of Dustin, putting your hands on his face to get a better look at him, “Dustin, what happened?”
“It’s in my mouth!” Dustin whimpered, pulling back from you and tugging the bandana down. “Some got on my mouth! Shit!”
He started coughing furiously and spitting up what was in his mouth. He then calmed down, looking back at everyone, “I’m okay.”
You let out a relieved but also annoyed sigh, as everyone else mumbled their annoyance.
“Very funny, man,” Steve grumbled sarcastically, as he helped you off the ground.
They all then continued on their way leaving Dustin to get off the ground himself, “Hang on, wait.”
The group continued on their path and finally made it to where Mike’s map was leading them.
“All right Wheeler, I think we found your hub,” Steve said, as they stepped further into what seemed to be the center of it all.
It was covered in the same vines you saw your first time in the Upside Down; and although you were a little apprehensive about coming here with the kids, you were glad to see it burn.
“Let's drench it,” Mike growled after they got a good look at the gross thing controlling their friend.
They each got to work dousing the entire area in gasoline. Once every inch was covered, they stepped back and huddled in the tunnel they came through to have an escape once they started the fire.
“Light her up,” Dustin commanded, looking over at Steve who had the lighter.
Steve pulled out the light, flicking it on before mumbling to himself, I’m in such deep shit.”
Steve threw the lighter and the place immediately went up in flames causing the vines to come to life and start frantically waving around as they burned.
“Go, go, go!” They all yelled as the fire became bigger and they all turned to run back to the exit.
They were quickly making their way out when Mike started yelling for help. Turning back they saw that a vine had wrapped itself around his ankle. They all tried to grab onto him and pull him back from it, but the vine had a tight grip on his ankle.
“Everybody back! Everybody back!” Steve yelled, as he made his way over to the vine and started hitting it with the bat.
After a few hits, the vine finally broke apart and let go of Mike’s ankle. They all helped him up and asked if he was okay. You grabbed Mike by the cheeks and checked him over like you did with Dustin.
“Guys, we gotta go!” Steve started to say but was cut off by the growling of one of the Demodogs.
Quickly they turned around and saw one of them standing there and they all started to slowly back away from it except for Dustin.
“D’art.” Dustin said cautiously, he started to make his way toward it as everyone tried to stop him, “Stop. Trust me, please.”
Dustin continued to walk over to the Demodog, as it also took steps towards Dustin. “Hey, it’s me, it’s me. It’s just your friend, it’s Dustin. It’s Dustin, all right? You remember me? Will you let us pass?” At the last question, D’art opened his face and screeched at Dustin. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry. I’m sorry about the storm cellar. That was a pretty douchey thing to do. You hungry? Yeah?” Dustin took his backpack off and pulled out a 3 Musketeers. “I’ve got our favorite. See? Nougat.”
As Dustin gave D’art a piece of the candy, he waved us all to quickly go past D’art while it was distracted. They quickly, but quietly, made their way past the Demodog as Dustin continued to feed it candy. Once Dustin gave him the last of the chocolate bar, he walked into the tunnel and turned back to D’art one last time.
“Bye, buddy.”
They were running through the tunnels and towards the exit when suddenly the ground started rumbling like an earthquake causing them all to fall to the ground. From behind them came the screeching from many different Demodogs.
“What was that?” You asked, looking in the direction the screeching came from.
“They’re coming.” Mike said before turning back around, “Run! Run!”
They all ran faster than before as they tried to get out of the Upside Down before the Demodogs could get to them. They finally made it to the rope they came down on and Steve helped all the kids get up first. Max, Lucas, and Mike made it to safety, but the Demodogs had gotten too close before Dustin, Steve, and you could get up.
Steve grabbed his bat and stood in front of Dustin and you as the monsters grew closer. They could see the shadows of the Demodogs get closer to them and as they ran into the tunnel the three of them were standing in, the creatures made their way past them instead of attacking. You held onto Steve as he held onto Dustin so they wouldn’t fall over as they were pushed around by the many Demodogs running past them.
Once they were all gone, Steve helped Dustin get out first before lifting you up and then followed after you. They all stood in front of the hole they just come from, facing the car as the lights grew extremely bright. They shielded their eyes from the blinding light until it finally dimmed down and they knew that it was all over and Eleven had closed the gate.

dead darlings tag
@ahordeofwasps tagged me for this one - thank you! check out her dead darling (slaughtered mercilessly) here.
since Dead Roots, Dark Water is on to draft 3, that means there's plenty of senseless slaying of darlings from draft 2 going on around here.
tagging (with no pressure) @winterandwords, @byjillianmaria, @just-a-local-dreamer, @rewritingrosie, @lordfenric-writes, and you, if you have anything you'd like to share from your editing :)
here's a bit from DRDW that didn't make the cut for draft 3. oh, the carnage.
The roofs of the buildings crowded in closer. Jak took a deep breath and peered over the dash. The street had narrowed, buildings closing in to force the two lanes of zoomers scarcely an arm’s length apart as they flowed in opposite directions. Pedestrians walked the cratered street below, skirting around or leaping over the largest potholes. No side streets or alleys broke up the parallel gray monoliths. Just metal and stone, pinning them in like swamp rats in a maze. All the blood rushed away from his head and into his stomach. Saliva pooled in his mouth and he shoved his hand up under his scarf and sank his teeth into his thumb. This wasn’t a trap. It wasn’t a box. It was a road, and it went somewhere. It went to the water slums. Daxter knew where they were going. He needed to trust— “Ah, fuck.” Red. Red cruisers in the air, speeder bikes on the ground. Red armor, stopping every pedestrian and vehicle that tried to pass through the bottleneck. People presented small cards to be scanned. The armor allowed them to pass, or sent them back. Beyond them, worn wooden boardwalks stretched over water dark as eco. Bile rose in Jak’s throat. He bit down harder. “Y’know what, fuck that. Right? Yeah, fuck that.” Daxter cranked a lever and spun the zoomer around to merge into the other lane — the one heading away from the water slums. “Hey, grab the comm outta my bag and call Brutter for me, wouldja?” Jak pulled Daxter’s bag from the footwell and sifted through the contents. His hand brushed against something damp and he recoiled, switching to his prosthetic hand until he encountered a small boxy shape. He pulled it out, took one look, and groaned. Half screen, half speaker, no keyboard. One button on the side labelled ‘HOV.’ The scroll wheel on the other side would serve all other functions. Commonplace tech in Sandover, but he’d figured Haven would have something more— “—suspicious vehicle. Checking it out.” One of the guards mounted up on a speeder before the street twisted and the red vanished behind stone. “Dax, I think they’re—” “Don’t sweat it. I get tailed, like, twenty times a day. Just keep your head down and get Brutter on.” Brutter. Right. He scrolled to Daxter’s contact list and clicked. Seventeen pages. A dozen entries scrolled by — including one mysteriously labelled ‘Boom Boy’ — before  he found Brutter’s contact. He clicked the scroll wheel and listened to one and a half rings before the comm picked up. “Orangey friend!” A guttural, booming voice rattled the speaker. Jak jolted in his seat and fumbled the comm, caught it again before it could tumble to the street below. “You found friend Jak, yeah?” Jak glanced behind them. The red speeder tailed them several vehicles back. Had the guard heard Brutter? Would it— “Dial it down, Sunshine. Yeah, he’s right here, but we got a change of plans. East side’s crawlin’ with swamp rats. Think y’could close up shop early tonight?” “Oh yeah. Got it, got it, see you guys quick!” The speaker clicked and went silent. Jak slipped the comm back into Daxter’s bag. “Guess I’m meeting Brutter sooner than we thought?” Daxter glanced back and tensed. A siren wailed. “Attention, green duplex: ground your vehicle immediately for a random search.” Daxter flipped a switch and the zoomer descended to the street level. “Yeah. A lot sooner.” He slammed down on the accelerator.

Chapter 18: Still Standing
You swore that if you could, you would turn back on your decision on letting Max drive, you were holding tightly on the back of Luca's seat and on the seat behind you. "That wouldn't happen if i knew how to drive, i just hope Max doesn't kill all of us". You have been driving for a few minutes and Max couldn't keep a straight path and would take sharp turns.
As Lucas was giving Max directions and you were trying to keep your calm by letting a thirteen year old drive, you heard some groaning coming from your left and turned to see Steve waking up and you let out a sigh of relief at that.
"Nancy?" he asked looking at Mike and you let out a laugh at Mike's face "Y/N/N? Y/N/N!"
"I'm right here pretty boy" you said appearing by Dustin's side that whas shheeing Steve, to try calm him down
"No, don't touch it" Dustin said to Steve that was trying to touch his bruised face "Hey buddy, shh...shh...it's okay, you put up a good fight" you frowned at Dustin and looked to Steve "He kicked your ass, but you put up a good fight and Y/N patched your face"
Steve's eyes found yours and gave you a lazy smile that you returned, you were glad that he was fine and awake.
"You gonna keep straight for half a mile and then you make a left turn on the Mount Sinai" Lucas said and Max nodded
"What's going on? Where the hell we're going?" Steve asked alarmed and looking at you
"We are going to the tunnels, just accord on the plan" Dustin answered
"Oh my god" Steve said, worry on his voice
You observed as Steve got more into counsciousness, senses slowly getting back to him as he looked around and saw how his eyes grow in size seeing Max on the driver's seat and Lucas gaving her directions, he started to panic and you pinched the bridge of your nose "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! What's going on?!" Steve said getting more back on the seat behind him as Max got more speed "Oh my god! No! Stop the car! Slow down!"
"I told you he would freak out" Mike said loudly to you
"Stop the car!" Steve continued to shout
"I know Michael, but it was either this or us walking there!" you said to Mike
"You let her drive?!" Steve asked you
"Well i don't know how to drive and you were passed out!"
"Oh wait! That's Mount Sinai, make a left!" Lucas yelled to Max over Steve's shouts
"What?!" Max asked back
"Left! Turn left here!"
"Oh my God!" Steve screamed as Max did the sharp turn, you fastly holded on Luca's seat and you felt Steve's hand on your tight as he continued to scream as the car did the turn, you heard a sound and only had the time to see that Max had knocked a mail box that went flying.
You saw a sign saying "Merril's Farm" and you let out a reliefed sigh to know that you finally arrived and everything with Max riding the car would soon be over when Max made an abrupt stop just before the hole Hopper dig, Steve still yelling.
"I told you, Zoomer" Max said
"Ok, everybody out!" you said and get out of the car after you opened your door
The kids followed on what you said and got out of the car as you were getting things out with Dustin, separating the goggles and mask to distribute to everyone, you saw Steve fall on the ground as he tried to get out of the car and you got worried about him cause he couldn't even stand on his feet and passed the strap of your backpack over your shoulders, mask around your neck and goggles on your head.
"Guys, oh no guys" he said worriedly and Mike walked past him "Hey, where do you think you going? What are you, deaf? Hello? We are not going down there right now. I made myself clear!" you sighed as he tried to put some sense on you guys and you walked to him, pipe in hand
"Steve please, calm down"
"Hey, Y/N! There's no chance we're going down that hole all right? This ends right now!" he said freaking out and taking the pipe out of your hands
"Can you please give me my pipe back?" you sighed
"No way Henderson! I thought that we agreed on- Dustin where you going!" he said yanking Dustin's stuff
"Steve! You're upset, i get it! But the bottom line is: a former party member requires assistance. Now, i know that you and Y/N promised Nancy and Mrs.Byers that you guys would keep us safe, so keep us safe!" Dustin said and shoved him his backpack
You sighed as you saw Steve taking his backpack and Dustin walking away and you got back from the truck of the car, holding Steve's spike bat to hand to him together with a mask and goggles that you separated for him "Here, now, can you please give me my pipe back so i can hit these things if needed?"
"Yeah, sure..." he said giving you your pipe and you handed him his bat, mask and goggles "Hey..."
"What?"
"What's that? It was Hargrove doing?" he said getting a closer looking, fingers tracing your bruised neck, worried look on his eyes
"Yeah, he tried chocking me, not tried, he did chocked me. But you shouldn't worry about me, you looking worse there pretty boy" you smiled softly
"I'm...I'm sorry"
"What for?"
"For not taking better care of you back there and i should've protect you better...i mean, not protect you, you don't need that, you can take care of yourself but i should've done better and-"
"Steve, you rumbling"
"Yeah...i know" he pressed his lips against one another
"Don't worry, yeah?" you said cradling his face on your hand and giving him a smile "I'm fine, so are the kids"
"Hey! Come on you both! Leave the kisses for after!" Mike screamed and you let out a huff
"You heard the gremlin, let's go" You squeezed his shoulder and walked past him, Steve following after. He missed the touch of your hand on his face and that made him feel flustered, in less than three days he felt like he was falling hard, something that he didn't thought being possible.
You gave the rope that you would use to go down a knot on the car and throwed the rest of it down the hole, you helped the kids to get down one by one and before you could get down, you put your mask and goggles and got down the rope with Steve's help and he down right after you. When you landed, it was almost impossible to see clearly, whilst why you turned on your flashlight and saw that everyone was together.
"Holy shit" Steve exclaimed
"Yeah, i'm pretty sure that it's this way"
"You're pretty sure or are you certain?" Dustin asked Mike
"I'm 100% sure, just follow me and you'll know"
"I don't think so" Steve said grabbing your hand and dragging you along with him to step up on front of the kids "Any of you little shits die down here, we're taking the blame, got it dipshit?"
"Steve's gonna take the front to lead the way, i'll be by the end of the line to make sure that any of you won't get eaten by that things" you said agreeing to him
"Come on, let's go"
Steve let go of your hand and took the made up map out of Mike's hand and started walking ahead, the kids following after, after Dustin, that was the last one, you started walk just behind them, flashlight on one hand and pipe on the other, you hoped that you wouldn't have any kind of surprise during your way.
You haven't been walking for that long but you were already feeling tired, feet hurting and sleep wanting to take better on you, your steps were a little bit more slower than the rest and you let out a yawn making Steve, on the front, turn around at the sound "You okay Y/N/N?"
"I'm fine, just tired"
He nodded and kept walking, the kids right after him and you observed Dustin looking around.
"God..."
"What is this place?"
"Guys, come on, keep moving"
Steve urged Max and Lucas that had stoped a while to look around the tunnels, you really couldn't take it anymore, you felt like you haven't sleep in ages when actualy was just some hours, but you felt so tired with the events that you couldn't wait to get home, throw yourself at your bed and just wake up on the evening of the next day.
Inside your turpor of tiredness and sleep, you haven't noticed that you kept walking alongside Steve and the kids and hadn't noticed that Dustin stayed a little behind admiring something on the walls and you just heard his loud shriek and it felt like all the sleep left your body when you started running back to Dustin, the rest of the group right behind you.
"Shit! Shit! Help! Help!"
"Dustin! Dustin what is it?" you asked as you droped on your knees beside him, looking for some injuries
"It's in my mouth! Something got in my mouth! Shit!"
'What happened? What happened?!" Steve asked and you desperatly look back at him after putting your goggles over your head
"I don't know! Dustin!"
"It's in my mouth!" he stopped a moment and just spitted on the ground, you only noticed Steve holding your hand beside you when Dustin lift his head up "I'm okay"
"You serious?" Max sighed
"You such an idiot Dustin, oh my god!" You got up
"Very funny, man. Nice, very nice, you scared the hell out of your sister" Steve exclaimed
"Jesus, what an idiot" Max sighed
You helped Dustin to get up and pull him by the shoulders to walk in front of you as you negatively shook your head at him, as you kept walking, without noticing, you and Steve still were holding hands, when you noticed, you took your hand out of his hold.
"Hey, you okay sweetheart?" Steve asked you, worry present on his gaze
"I guess so, Dustin gave me a hell of a scare back there"
"He really did, i got worried. With him and with you"
"I felt like crying, but i'm fine pretty boy, don't worry yeah? Go to the front of the line, i'll be fine"
He hesitated while looking at you but nodded anyways and went to the front of the line and you guys kept walking and It didn't took long for you guys to arrive where you should and you looked surprised around you because you thought just how fast this happened.
"Alright, Wheeler. I think we found your hub" Steve looked around
"Let's drench it" Mike said and you guys fastly moved to drench all the hub on the gasoline you guys brought from the floor to the walls and to the few vines that where on the ground and when you were satisfied enough with it, you, Steve and the kids moved back to the tunnel where you came from.
You crounched down and Steve did the same right beside you and as if from pure stinct, you guys holded hands and he pushed his lighter, holding it in front of you guys while he lighted.
"You ready?"
"Burn this place to the ground, Harrington" and he throwed it in the middle of the hub, the place catching fire as soon as it made contact with the gasoline "Go! Let's go! Let's go!"
"Come on guys!"
"This way!"
You and Steve hurried the kids to run in front of you and you and Steve runned right after them, hands still holding tightly as you moved to the right path for the exit and as you were almost half the way, a vine traped one of Mike's foot, making him fall on the ground and as Steve helped him, you moved the kids forward and Steve managed to free Mike from it and you helped him up.
"You okay Mike?" you cradled his face on your hands, looking for major injuries while he nodded
"Guys, we gotta go, we gotta go now!"
Dustin exclaimed as you heard some growling and you moved Mike to be together with the kids as you followed behind with Steve behind you, a hand at the small of your back moving forwards but you weren't able to move that fast cause right in the very little way that leaded you guys to the rope, a demogorgon was standing there, blocking the way.
Steve stopped you right before you could bump on Dustin's back, his hand on your waist holding you close with his free hand and his flashlight at the other, you took a deep breath looking as your brother got more closer to Dart and you prayed that he wouldn't be attacked.
"Dart" he took a step closer, his hands up "Hey it's...it's me, it's your friend, Dustin, all right? Do you remember me? Will let us pass?" he got a growl in answer and your breath got stuck on your troath as you holded the end of Steve's jacket "Okay, okay, i-i'm sorry. We're are sorry for the storm cealler, that was a pretty douche thing to do"
You looked briefly at Steve for reassurence, fear evident on your eyes trough the goggles and he immediatly holded your hand in his, sensing your uneaseaness and holded it tightly to give you reassurence and you smiled at that, he couldn't see but you were glad that he was there, to help you to keep your feet on the ground.
"You hungry? Yeah?"
"He's insane" Lucas whispered
"I got our favorite, see? Look! Nougat" Dart took an hesitant step towards Dustin, reconizing the candy bar, your hand holded Steve's more tightly "Look at that, yummy, all rigtht? Eat up buddy, come on, come on"
Dustin distracted Dart by giving it a few pieces of the candy on the floor and as it was distractly eating, he motioned for you to keep walking past him while he distracted Dart. Immediatly, you moved the kids first on your front, they all passing fastly up front Dustin and Dart and as Max finally passed them, you and Steve passed by last, hands still interwined while Dustin kept dustracting Dart, which was enough for you to keep walking ahead of them.
"There's plenty, i've got more" you heard Dustin say "Bye buddy"
And Dustin followed you guys to where you guys headed, taking quick steps to catch up with you guys and when he reached you, you hugged him tightly and moved him to keep walking ahead of you as you and Steve reached your hands to interwine again and started to run on the tunels to get back from where you got inside.
As you were almost reaching the rope to climb it back up, the floor under you started to shake and Steve pulled you closer to estabilize you.
"Jesus!" Steve exclaimed
"What was that?"
You started hear roaring not so distant from you and you started to panick of the thought that maybe the demodogs would reach you way before you could reach the rope and get out alive.
"They're coming! Run! Run!" Mike shouted and started running, you guys right behind you
"Let's go! Let's go!" Steve shouted, tugging you to run with him
"Come on, Mike! Move, Mike!" Dustin yelled for Mike to run faster
"There! There!"
Lucas shouted pointing to the rope at the hole that Hopper dig and you guys got inside and let out a reliefed sigh at the sight of it. You and Steve quickly helped the kids first, first Max, then Lucas, Mike and they helped you right after just so you could help to pull Dustin and Steve by last, as you got out with the help of the three right outside, you turned fastly to help Dustin out as took off your goggles and you heard the shriek of the demodogs getting more closer and panick started to settle on you again.
"Come on Dusty! Hold my hand!"
And as you were about to reach his hand, the shriek got more louder and fast steps heard on the tunel below you and you felt the blood run out cold on your body as tears started to pool around your eyes in purest fear and as you waited the demodogs to start attacking Dustin and Steve and hear their screamings, there was nothing, just sounds of the creatures running.
When you got the courage to look down, you felt fat tears streaming down your face in the purest relief in seeing that instead of attacking your brother and your now long time crush, they were running ahead and totally ignoring them while Steve and Dustin were hugging each other and you almost laughed at how silly the scene was and you would have laughed if the strong light coming from Billy's car glowed more strongly, forcing you and the kids to cover your eyes with your hands and when the light got back to it's usual light force, you and Mike exchanged a look.
"Eleven"
You said at the same time and nodded, you turned around to the hole and helped to pull Dustin out of it fastly as you can. As he got fully out and took off his goggles, you let out a reliefed cry that made him looked puzzled at you seeing you cry and runned to hug you, you don't even think that you ever holded Dustin that tightly before, your hands got instantly to his hair, cheeks on the top of your head as you felt his hands run up and down on your back as you sobbed, assuring you that he was fine.
Steve came out of the hole in time to see your little get together with your brother and smiled softly at how hard you were sobbing and crying because your brother was fine and alive.
"I got so fucking scared, oh my god!"
"Hey Y/N/N, it's okay"
"I thought i lost you a moment back there, i don't think that i was that scared before" you holded his face on your hands
"Y/N/N, look, i'm fine, alright? I'm alive, i'm okay, yeah?" he smiled at you
"Yeah, yeah, ok" you took a deep breath "okay"
"Are you okay? Are you fine?"
"After that one, i'm more than fine, Jesus Christ, Dusty"
He hugged you one more time, squeezed your hands and helped you to stand up like everyone else that were smiling at the scene, you always took good care of those kids, they weren't just your brother's friends, they were yours too, your very own little family and you were glad that everyone's was fine.
You took a deep breath and cleaned the reminescents of the tears that had spilled out as you looked around and your eyes found Steve, not much steps far from you, he smiled softly at you and you didn't even thought twice in taking big steps towards him, he immediatly opened his arms as you got more closer.
You immediatly buried your face on his chest while your arms circled his waist and one of his circled your waist and the other he buried his fingers deep on your hair, making you press against each other and you could't help another sob left your troath as he rubbed your back up and down, giving you reassuring words on your ear as he let you cry quietly against his chest and let him comfort you.
He felt the strong scent of the shampoo you used as he buried his face on the crook of your neck and let out a soft kiss on your shoulder, your fists tightly holding his jacket and at the moment, he didn't like the feeling of seeing you cry, even through it were reliefed tears, he knew that you were letting out all of the emotions of this week, on the last three days and he realised that he didn't even liked the thought of you getting away from his hold and he wished he could bring you just that: the safety of the comfort at the end of the day, that he could provide you a sense of feeling a littl bit more safe around him.
You for the other side, even on your stupor of letting out all of the frustrations that where brought back because of the Upside Down, you never wanted to let go of Steve's embrace. You were a grown up girl, you knew how to take care of yourself and you didn't need anyone to protect you, but there, with Steve's arms tightly around you, you wanted nothing more than let all that comfort you were feeling to last.
Yeah, you didn't need protection, but you wanted safety and right there, being held on Steve Harrington's arms, you felt nothing if not only safety, caring and comfort.

Strangely Charming - Chapter 19
Tumblr media
Chapter Sum: Calcifer and the others arrive and enter into the tunnels. While traveling to the hub, Calcifer answers questions and speaks about his past.
A/N: It's hard (for me) to get exposition out for an original character without just making it a huge chunk of a paragraph. I hope the way I did it was alright.
Warnings: Mentions of character death,  not described but the cause of death is implied.
Words: 2699
(Previous Chapter)

“Nancy?” Steve asked as he was slowly coming to. Mike gave him a weird look. Steve groaned and reached for his nose.
“Hey buddy, shh shh shh,” Dustin said as he stopped Steve from touching his face. “It’s okay. You put up a good fight. He kicked your ass, but you put up a good fight. You’re okay.” Steve groaned.
“Why…” He blinked at the cat Dustin was holding. “s’with the cat?” Steve asked, squinting at the black cat.
“Uh, that’s not really important right now.”
“Okay, you’re gonna keep straight for a half a mile,” Lucas said, “then make a left on Mount Sinai.” Steve looked from him in the passenger seat to the driver’s seat.
“What’s going on?” he asked. Max looked back at him and he realized a 13-year-old was driving the car. “Whoa-whoa-whoa-! Oh my god!”
“Steve, relax,” Dustin said. “She’s driven before.”
“Yeah, in a parking lot,” Mike said.
“That counts,” Lucas said.
“Oh my god,” Steve started to freak out.
“They were gonna leave you behind,” Dustin said.
“Oh my god!”
“I promised that you’d be cool, okay?”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What’s going on?” Max stepped on the gas making the car surge forward. “Oh my god. No! Whoa! Stop the car. Slow down.”
“I told you he’d freak out!” Mike shouted across at Dustin.
“Stop the car!” Steve screamed.
“Everybody shut up! I’m trying to focus!” Max shouted.
“Oh, wait, that’s Mount Sinai,” Lucas said as he pointed. “Make a left.”
“What?”
“Make- turn left!” The tires screeched as the car made a sharp turn, hitting a mailbox, the occupants screaming. Max slammed the brakes as they reached the entrance to the tunnels.
“Ah- Hello!” Steve shouted as the car stopped.
“Whoa!”
“Incredible,” Mike breathed.
“I told you. Zoomer,” Max said.
The moment Lucas popped open his door the black cat jumped out and ran in front of the car. Calcifer stood and leaned on the hood of the car, breathing hard, head down and eyes wide. He looked up as Max got out of the car.
“Never again… am I getting into a car… if you’re behind the wheel,” he said as the kids moved to the trunk. Steve stumbled out of the car, hitting the ground with a groan.
“Guys,” he said as he struggled to stand. Calcifer moved to help him and he frowned in confusion. “Huh? How did-? Did you… fly here? Can you do that?” He looked at Calcifer as he leaned on the door for support.
“Meow,” Calcifer deadpanned. Steve blinked then suddenly whipped his head around, looking for something.
“He is the cat,” Dustin said bluntly, which drew Steve’s attention back to the kids who were gearing up with protective eye-wear and various make-shift masks. Lucas pulled on a weed sprayer they had filled with gasoline. Mike grabbed a canister, a flashlight, and a coil of rope.
“Oh, no. Guys.” They ignored him. Mike moved around to the front of the car to attach the rope. “Hey, where do you think you’re going?” He was, again, ignored. “What are you, deaf? Hello? We are not going down there right now. I made myself clear.” Calcifer shook his head as the kids continued to set up.
“Give up, mate,” he said as he moved to help Max lower canisters to Lucas and Mike.
“Hey, no, there’s no chance we’re going into that hole, alright?” Steve tried. “This ends right now!” he shouted as he took the pair of gloves Dustin was about to put on and threw them back in the trunk.
“Steve, you’re upset, I get it,” Dustin said. “But the bottom line is, a party member requires assistance and it is our duty to provide that assistance. Now I know you promised Nance that you would keep us safe.” Dustin picked up Steve’s bag and bat. “So, keep us safe.” Steve sighed as he shook his head but took his stuff.
“Cal-?” Steve turned to the boy as he walked over to see he was suddenly already wearing gloves with goggles on his head and a black bandana around his neck.
“I’m going with you, o’course.” Calcifer pulled the bandana over his mouth and nose then the goggles down over his eyes. “Magic, mate,” he said with a grin, only visible through the crinkles by his eyes, as he wiggled his fingers when Steve looked confused again.
“Hey,” Dustin stopped him. “No more magic unless absolutely necessary. You’re still not fully charged.” Calcifer blinked down at him. “Got it?”
“Yeah, got it.”
Steve dropped down and looked to either side of the tunnel.
“Holy shit,” he breathed out. Calcifer jumped down, startling Steve as he landed in a crouch before he stood up. “Jesus!”
“Sorry.” Calcifer shrugged. “Figure since you know… I can do non-human things now.”
“Just- ya know… lil warning next time,” Steve said and Calcifer nodded.
“Uh, yeah I’m pretty sure it’s this way,” Mike said, looking at the map they had drawn.
“You’re pretty sure, or you’re certain?” Dustin asked.
“I’m 100% sure. Just follow me and you’ll know.” Mike started to head down the tunnel but Steve quickly stopped him.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, hey, hey, hey. I don’t think so,” Steve said and Mike turned around.
“What?”
“Any of you little shits die down here, I’m getting the blame. Got it, dipshit?” He took the map from Mike before he turned to everyone else. “From here on out, I’m leading the way. Come on, let’s go.”
“Steve? Maybe the guy who can see in the dark should help lead?” Calcifer suggested. “Just a thought.”
“You can-? Yeah, okay, whatever, get over here then.” Steve motioned for Calcifer to join him and handed him the map. “Come on. Hey a little hustle.”
Tumblr media
“God,” Lucas exclaimed.
“What is this place?” Max asked.
“Guys come on, keep moving,” Steve said. Calcifer looked back at the group when he heard one of them stop walking. A quick scan over the group showed him who it was and he moved back past the others in time to round the corner, ignoring Steve calling for him.
“What the hell?” Dustin asked as he looked up at something. The pulsating thing above him shot out more of the spores that were already floating in the air. Dustin screamed as he fell back. The others rushed back to see Calcifer lowering his arm, eyes fading back to brown.
“What just happened?” Mike asked.
“What happened?” Steve pushed his way to Dustin. Calcifer pointed up.
“This thing spat out more of these little… particles,” he said, pointing to one as it floated by. “I made sure it didn’t blast him in the face.” He shrugged before holding out a hand to help the boy up.
“Thanks,” Dustin said as he got up, breathing heavily. Steve turned to Calcifer and shook his head.
“Okay, this was necessary but no more magic unless… one of us is gonna die.”
“Uh… actually these things are pretty harmless. I mean you still shouldn’t breathe them in, just like you shouldn’t breathe in normal dust, but they’re not gonna kill you.”
“Good to know,” Max said. Steve pointed in Calcifer’s face.
“No more magic.”
"I got it, I got it," Calcifer muttered. The two moved back to the front of the group and Calcifer let out a sigh.
"You okay, man?" Steve asked after a moment.
"Hm?" Calcifer hummed then nodded. "'m fine."
"So uh… you always been a cat?" Steve saw the boy's shoulders drop slightly. "Hey, we don't have to talk about it if-"
"No. I wasn't always a cat." Calcifer sighed again. “I was a witch, or wizard whatever you wanna call it, like Mae when I was…” He glanced at Steve before looking away. “Well, before I died."
"Wait, what?" Dustin asked. Calcifer glanced back and realized the rest of the group started to pay attention. He swallowed and looked forward again as he spoke,
"Uh yeah… that's why my accent is still so thick. I was born and raised in Ireland… I came back as a familiar, in my case a cat. Not all witches come back as familiars but some do… We help newer witches with their training, then we stay with them." Calcifer shrugged. "We get our… charge, if we're still going with the battery thing, by being close to them. The further apart we are, the less I can do on my own in a short amount of time. We’re usually supposed to do these things together. Mae's the strong one."
"You threw Demo-dogs no problem!” Lucas exclaimed.
“That illusion back at Will’s house?” Dustin reminded him. “That was cool.”
“Back on the bus? You made that force field thing? I'd say that's pretty strong," Max said with a shrug.
"That's nothing," Calcifer said with a chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. “Trust me…” He looked down at the map. “This way.”
“When did you die?” Mike asked after a few moments.
“Mike,” Dustin hissed as he elbowed him.
“What? I didn’t ask how… and he brought it up!”
“It’s fine,” Calcifer said. “Well uh…” He chuckled. “Let’s just say, I had the very unfortunate timing of coming to America when witchcraft was… well, to put it lightly, frowned upon.”
“Whoa wait… you- are you saying you were…?” Steve said, looking at him with wide eyes.
“No. No, no, no, I wasn’t burned at the stake, no,” Calcifer said as he shook his head. His hand came up to absentmindedly pull his collar away from his throat as he swallowed. He noticed everyone looking at him with wide eyes behind their goggles, realized where his hand was, and quickly lowered it. “Sorry,” he muttered.
“So you were alive in the 1690s?” Dustin asked. Calcifer nodded.
“Okay… your lack of knowledge about technology and video games makes a lot more sense now,” Max said.
“Wait so, when did you… come back to life?” Lucas asked.
“How old are you?” Mike asked.
“Well, I told you I’m 18 which technically wasn’t a lie, I was born the year Maeve was and I really was adopted when we were five, but I was adopted as her cat not as her brother. The brother sister thing’s always been her idea.” He shrugged. “In most cases familiars are reborn when the witch they’re meant to be bonded to is born, but some don’t always have a certain witch they’re meant to be bound to. In my case I did, so I’ve been… re-alive for 18 years now, but I was 22 when I… passed.”
“How does that work? Like did you switch from a kitten to a toddler?” Max asked. Calcifer chuckled.
“No, no. I’ve always looked like this,” he said as he gestured down at himself. “‘M physically 22. Though I couldn’t change back into a human until… let’s see… Mae was about eight or nine because it was about four years after we met. Familiars have to… well, earn their human forms back by mentoring their witch. Mae was a special case, she was a quick learner. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t’ve gotten my body back for another five years or so.”
“How do you become a witch?” Max asked.
“Some people are born with a… stronger ability than others and if they choose to, they can start training to become a proper witch. Usually people don’t fully come into their powers until they’re at least in their teens; I was 13 almost 14 when-...” He cleared his throat. “when I started my training. Before then the most I could do was occasionally make things float if I really concentrated and sometimes set hay on fire.”
“Hay?” Max asked.
“Believe it or not, 1600s in Ireland, I did live on a farm.”
“Potato farm?” Mike asked.
“Hey… I make the potato jokes,” Calcifer said with a chuckle to let the boy know he wasn’t actually offended. “But yes and no,  we didn’t just grow potatoes. Turnips, wheat, had some goats and sheep. Few cows.”
“Did you go to school?” Mike asked.
“No… Another reason Maeve makes me go to school,” he said with a fond chuckle. “Uh- this way…” He pointed and the group made a turn.
“Did you have a familiar to help you?” Lucas asked.
“No… uh-” Calcifer cleared his throat. “There was an old woman in my village, she taught me. Knew what my powers were even when my... Father didn’t.” He took a breath. “She passed shortly before I left for America...”
“How do witches become familiars?” Max asked.
“Well, all depends on the witch really. In my case… well, in the case of most witches around the time I-I- uh… We weren’t supposed to-...”
“You don’t have to say it, man,” Steve said softly.
“Yeah, we know what you mean,” Dustin said. Calcifer nodded as he took a breath.
“Right well… coming back as familiars was… I guess you could say gifted to us, but if a witch is really good, morally, there’s a high chance they’ll be rewarded for it.”
“So you’re telling me there’s a chance when I look at a cat… that I’m looking at a person?” Mike asked.
“Well, first off, we’re not all cats. Second, familiars don’t even really remember being human until they can freely switch forms. I mean we know we were human, but it’s not like we remember what it’s like or any memories.”
“But you remembered your name?” Max asked.
“Uh… no, actually. Maeve helped me find a name. I mean before her I was Shadow, very original for a black cat,” he said as he rolled his eyes. “But she wanted me to pick my own name, wanted me to have a say…”
“And you went with Calcifer?” Mike asked.
“No, I went with Buttons,” Calcifer deadpanned as he turned to look back at the boy.
“Can you become something other than a cat?” Max asked.
“Nope.”
“Did you pick to be a cat?” Dustin asked.
“Also nope.”
“So… is your default form a cat?” Lucas asked. “Or this?”
"Cat, at least for this life. I was human longer than I’ve been a cat even though I went nine years of being only a cat before I could switch. It doesn't take much for me to switch to this, but that’s why I couldn’t just take a nap back at the house. There was a very high chance since I used so much energy already that I would’ve turned back into a cat in my sleep,” he said with a sigh, “and I really didn’t want to … deal with the,” he paused as he gestured about, “reactions.”
“I think we took it pretty well,” Dustin said with a shrug.
“To be fair, most people don’t already know someone with superpowers. Kinda softens the blow for everything else,” Steve said.
“Still can’t believe you already knew El,” Dustin said.
“Wait what?” Mike asked.
“Oh, right you were with the chief,” Dustin said as he looked from Mike to Calcifer.
“Again, I didn’t know it was her,” Calcifer said. “I didn’t even know if you all knew she existed, how was I supposed to know she was friends with you all? And Dustin said she was gone anyway so I figured it couldn’t have been the same kid I saw.”
“Hey, what she does… could that be magic too?” Max asked.
“Honestly, no idea. She’d have to talk to me and Mae about it.” Calcifer shrugged. “Just cause we can do the same stuff doesn’t mean it is the same. I’ve never heard of a way to force someone to gain magic if they didn't already have it so I don't think it's the same. I could be wrong though.” He looked down at the map and the group made one more turn before they walked to the end of the tunnel that opened up to a large area with various tunnels branching off.
“Alright, Wheeler,” Steve said. “I think we found your hub.” Everyone stepped out of the end of the tunnel to see the large room with many tunnels branching off from it.
“Let’s drench it.”
Tumblr media
A/N: yay some Calcifer backstory (and exposition for Witch stuff). There are still a few ‘secrets’ of his yet to be revealed.

Max drove perfectly fine. Aria didn’t know what came over her when she let her drive. Her hands were pretty fine and she could drive but she trusted the redhead to not kill them. She heard her talking about being a zoomer and thought Max would be fine to drive. Lucas was giving Max instructions from the backseat on where to go.
As Aria was paying close attention to Max, Steve woke up from the backseat, groaning. Dustin held an ice pack on his forehead and smiled at him. He looked next to him and saw Mike, furrowing his eyebrows. “Nancy?” Mike looked at him like he was crazy and Steve turned the other way to see Lucas and Dustin.
“Hey, you good back there?” Aria asked Steve from the passenger seat. Steve mumbled a “yeah.”
“It's okay. You put up a good fight,” Dustin told him as Steve looked around, groaning in pain. “He kicked your ass, but you put up a fight. If Aria wasn’t there, you’d be dead.” Dustin laughed.
Mike snickered. “Yeah, Ari saved your ass.”
“That’s enough boys.” Aria told them.
Lucas kept speaking the directions to Max. “Okay, you're gonna keep straight for a half a mile, then make a left on Mount Sinai.”
Steve took a good look at who was driving and then at Aria, who was in the passenger seat. His eyes kept moving back and forth between Max and her until it hit him. “Woah! Woah! Woah! Riya! Why are you not driving?!”
He started to struggle against Dustin’s hold but the curly haired boy ushered him down, trying to not panic him. Aria didn’t say anything as it would panic her boyfriend even more so she stayed quiet, still watching over Max drive. Max sped faster and they all started screaming, everyone losing their cool.
“Shut up!” Aria screamed as Lucas told Max to make a left. Aria took the wheel from Max and made a sharp left turn, crashing into a fence but getting back on the road. “God, would you just calm down?!” She yelled at everyone. Max parked onto the grass, Steve still yelling.
They all got out of the car, opening the trunk to get out all the materials they stuffed in there. Steve stumbled out of the car and started yelling at the kids to stop what they were doing. Aria started gearing up, telling the kids to do the same.
Aria ignored Steve, knowing he wouldn’t stop complaining. Steve managed to regain his composure and grab Aria’s wrist, pulling her towards him so now they were face to face, noses almost touching. “What are you doing?” He said, voice low.
She felt his breath hit her skin and her eyes moved from his eyes to his lips, back and forth. His eyes did the same. “Steve, do you trust me?“
“What? Yes, of course I trust you.” He answered, as if it was the easiest answer in the world.
“Then trust me that we can do this,” she told him. “I know what I’m doing. Trust me.”
His eyes held hers for what felt like an hour but really was only a few seconds until he exhaled deeply, nodding his head. “Wait,” he stopped her from moving, still holding onto her wrist. “Where’d you learn how to fight like that?”
Aria chuckled, stepping away from his grasp. “Don’t worry about it.” She grabbed the safety gear for him from the trunk, shoving it into his chest before following the kids towards the hole in the ground.
They slowly used the rope to climb down into the tunnel, Mike leading the group to where the main source was. The kids started to walk before Aria stopped them. “Okay, hey, no, wait,” she stepped in front of them. “Behind me, alright?” They all nodded, Steve moving to stand next to her.
They started walking as Mike gave the two teens instructions, leading the way towards the tunnel they needed to go to. As they were still walking, Dustin screamed for help.
They all ran back to see Dustin, frantically asking what happened. “What happened?!” Aria asked, crouching down.
“It’s in my mouth! Shit!” Dustin shrieked, spitting out whatever was in his mouth. He then stopped and looked up. “I’m okay.”
Everyone sighed. “Very funny, man.” Steve said, walking away.
It wasn’t long until they found the hub, using their flashlights to look around. “Alright, Wheeler, I think we found your hub.” Said Steve.
“Let’s drench it.” Said Mike.
They started to pour gasoline all over the tunnel, ready to set it on fire. The entire hub was filled with gasoline in no time and Steve held up his lighter, ready to set it on fire. They all started to run as it caught on fire, running back towards the way they came out from. “Let’s go!” Aria yelled, running with the kids behind her and Steve.
Steve held onto her hand as they ran, as if he was going to lose her if he let go. They kept running until Mike fell, calling for help when something caught his leg. They ran back towards him and Steve hit it with his bat, the creature letting go of Mike instantly.
They were going to start running again until a tiny demogorgon came in their way, blocking their path. “Dart?” Dustin called out, stepping forward. The group started to yell at him, warning him to get away from it but Dustin held up a finger at them. “Trust me.” He said.
Dustin pulled down his mask and took his goggles off, crouching down. “It's Dustin, all right? You remember me?” Aria, Steve, and the kids listened to Dustin speak to Dart, trying to let us pass through. Dustin then gave Dart a nougat, Dart instantly eating it. The curly haired boy motioned for the group to go, whispering a goodbye to the creature. He pulled his mask back and and goggles back on, following the group as they made their way to the exit.
They finally found the exit but then heard the roars of the demogorgons. They could hear it coming closer and Steve and Aria started helping the kids up, quickly. The last two people left were them but it was too late, they were too close. Steve grabbed his bat in one hand and grabbed Aria’s waist in the other. They waited for the demogorgons to run towards them as the kids screamed at them to climb up.
There were too many of them at once. The two knew there was no way they were going to get out of this so they held each other right and closed their eyes, waiting for the impact. However, it never came.
They opened their eyes and saw the demogorgons run right past them, their heads turning towards the way they ran to. “Eleven.” Aria whispered.
Aria and Steve looked at each other and their hearts were beating rapidly. They quickly climbed out of the tunnels, the kids giving them a hand. As their feet planted on the grass, Max hugged Aria tightly. “That scared the shit out of me.”
Aria chuckled and hugged her back. “Yeah, me too.”
They stepped away from the hole in the ground as it started to grow bright, light illuminating from the ground that they had to cover their eyes from the brightness. It soon began to simmer down, the light fading away into darkness. The group looked at one another, wondering what just happened.
Aria knew. Eleven finally closed the gate.

So yeah, Trasik STILL wants to fucking challenge Lexx over and over. So she somehow got Mr. Bad Guy to help her instead of the other way around. Say what you say about Console Girl villains, but at least they had an actual motivation. Until this comic reveals Trasik’s real motivations, I’m just going to assume Trasik wants to mount Lexx’s head to a wall and then go EEHEHEHEHE I HAVE YOU MY PRETTY like a fucking witch.
