I NEED more angry Saki content at this point. GENUINELY.
Guys, I love Tsukasa, Shiho, and Honami with all my heart but I desperately need Saki to finally let out all her anguish.
Shiho and Honami were middle schoolers, you can't blame them, but so was Saki. I love how bright she is, how bubbly, but for the love of god you just know she had some sense of betrayal when Ichika was the only one who appeared constantly.
I want Saki to stand before Honami and Shiho, trying her best to act as her usual self, but finally breaking down and telling them how hurt she was when they never replied to her text. When Ichika kept saying "they'll visit soon" because she knows they never will. How she felt so alone in that hospital room, missing two of her best friends and being so far away from home.
I don't want their friendship to wither, but I have her to be angry because she has every right to be. I want her to hold a grudge, and I want her to feel hurt because she cannot move forward without acknowledging how shitty the cards she was dealt were.
Again, I'm not saying it was Honami and Shiho's fault. They were middle schoolers, they were scared. they were children who didn't know how to cope with their friend being so far and so out of reach. But that didn't mean they weren't wrong. Saki has every right to feel abandoned, because in her eyes, she was.
And Tsukasa. This is a different betrayal, because he treats her like glass. Again, it's not his fault, because for a good while, she basically was. She couldn't go out, she couldn't move around, she couldn't do most things. And he saw her through all of it. Of course he'd be scared for her, of course he'd be wary about it.
But Saki's so tired of being treated like this. She wants to move on, to keep going, to feel normal but she can't do that when everywhere she goes, it's a constant reminder. I want her to lash out, not being she's in the right, but because she's a teen who's childhood was torn away from her.
I want to see Saki snap, I don't even want it to be for a right reason. She could be totally in the wrong, yelling at her brother for caring and trying to make sure she's okay, but she's tired of being reminded she isn't a normal teen. So she lashes out, because she's hurt.
Saki's feeling of betrayal towards Tsukasa reaches another part too, with Tsukasa refusing to trust her the way she trusts him. Tsukasa never opened up to her, being so determined to be the reliable older brother. She's not stupid. She sees what he's doing. She knows something is up, that something is wrong. He's hiding something from her, and it pisses her off that she most likely will never know what.
She feels like he doesn't trust her. She feels like her just being younger is burdening him. That he thinks she can't handle it because she'll always be the "younger fragile sister". She is wrong, and he's never seen her as such, but she feels. That's the whole thing here.
I just want my girl to be able to finally feel and not squash everything down. She'll have to accept the consequences of her actions, but she'll grow from it after, that's for certain. Because she's not going anywhere if she keeps ignoring it and just smiles through (Tenma Sibling trait apparently...)
GOD Saki Tenma I LOVE YOU.

Dearest older brother...?
Tumblr media
Notes: woke up from my nap and wrote this off the top of my head. Some of this is based off my own personal experiences. Not proofread.
Content to be found: 100% PLATONIC, implied bpd and ocd if you squint, unhealthy sibling dynamics (lmk if there's more I should add)
You remember asking Sunday that question all too well. And boy, how did you regret it.
“Is it ok if I call you… big brother now?”
You so desperately wanted to have a caring family, siblings, but younger naive you clung to the wrong brotherly figure.
He and Robin had such a tight bond, and you, being an only child, envied them. So when you were invited to playdates, you enjoyed every second being with them.
The fond memories of you and Sunday supporting Robin's dreams. Sneaking into the kitchen to grab snacks without getting caught. You three grew so close, you practically were their third sibling.
But happiness doesn't last long. The more you all grew up and followed different paths, the more distant you guys became. Of course, there are still attempts to meet up, but it was difficult. Most of the time, you were left behind with Sunday, the man you called big brother.
Could you really call him that anymore though? He made little effort to keep ties with you. Check in on you. You understand that him and Robin obviously had a closer bond. Therefore, he'd pay more attention to her, but you? It's like he was trying to erase you from his life.
No. That's not right. He distances himself from you and lets you fall into loneliness. Yes, that's true. But then why does he keep coming back every time you're at your breaking point?
“What's wrong? You can always tell me anything. I am your big brother, after all.”
It's the same thing every time.
He asks you what's wrong. You break down. He consoles you. Then leaves and the cycle repeats. And every time you refuse to talk, he'll manipulate your emotions to speak and cause you to break down even more.
Why would a big brother do this to his younger sibling?
You couldn't take the emotional hurt anymore. It's like he just sees this as a game. He always uses the big brother card on you knowing it's your weakness.
Things get worse though. Of course they do.
You caught news that Robin has been found dead. That can't be right. It can't. You loved Robin as if she were your actual sister. Why did she die??
So here you are. Walking to the estate where Sunday should be. Why are you even going to him? You should be distancing yourself and be grieving alone. As much as he emotionally hurts you, you still care about him. As much as he abandons you, you always come back.
As soon as you make it through his office doors, someone aggressively grabs you by the shoulders and backs you up to the nearest wall.
It's Sunday.
He's shaking, breathing hard, clearly angry, but hurt above all. He rests his head on your shoulder, still holding you but with less force.
You've never seen him like this before. In the past, you'd occasionally see tiny outbursts when he couldn't get things the way he wanted, but he never displayed this much emotion near you.
“...Don't leave me too” he said in a shaky voice, but you couldn't catch that. All you could hear was your heartbeat from the adrenaline of suddenly being forced against a wall.
Out of genuine care you still held for him, you embraced him. He stiffened up but soon accepted it.
No matter how much you regretted ever calling him big brother, no matter how much it hurt when he abandoned you, you couldn't find it within your heart to leave and move on.
Comforting him was clearly a mistake. For out of fear he'd lose his only other sibling, he imprisoned you in a spare room in his estate.
He still had to keep up appearances so you'd constantly be left alone repeatedly. The cycle repeats itself again. He'll come back home and comfort you for leaving you alone for so long, then leave again for a long period of time.
You'd never escape. You had so many insecurities and were so emotionally constipated. Sunday made things worse. He just had to keep you somewhere where he knew he couldn't lose track of you and possibly lose you just like Robin.
You still loved him. You always would. And he in return would offer you the type of love you never got from your actual family, even if it was just for a bit.
To you, he was your beloved older brother no matter what.

Todd Anderson, an interesting case of the younger child. He's fits the common stereotype of seen as a baby by his parents and older brother, while also being the furthest from the favorite. Where most youngest sons Todd knew at school, Balincrest and middle + elementary school, were their parents' favorite, Todd was no where near the same level of standing in his own family.
He was surprised to see the constant fretting of mothers and the encouraging words and claps-on-the-shoulders from fathers at Balincrest. His own parents never extended the same kindnesses to him.
When he was small, he remembered hearing his mother asking his father, an endless well of concern apparent in her voice, if he thought that Todd was too sensitive. She asks him if he thinks that she coddled him too much for a little too long. He hid at the top of the stairs and listened to his father's resounding answer that he would grow out of it.
Clearly he hadn't. And though his mother never got over her reservations of baby-ing him, causing her to be colder than she was in his childhood, his parents still thought him emotionally immature. Time and time again, he could sense their need and want for him to just "grow up". He didn't understand what he could possibly do to satiate that want in them. He was grown.
Todd often wondered how his life would've been if he were not the last of his parent's children. What if he had a younger brother, a younger sister, which through their simple existence, pushed his current troubles and insecurities onto them. Of course, he didn't wish his hypothetical sibling to experience the same things as he did, that would be cruel. It was just a thought experiment. Would he be different? Would he have been better?

Hey hey hey, remember how Drew (and Lacy) was mentioned as going to the same school as Sadie in The Serpent's Shadow? So it's like. Implied the two of them are a similar age, especially since they clearly interact plenty, with Sadie knowing her full name and such? I dunno about you, but I never interacted much with kids out of my age range at school, so it's basically implied they're close in age — when Sadie is thirteen (Lacy being said to be a year younger than her).
So, like. What if Drew's. Younger than Piper, actually? By like. A year or so, so she'd be fourteen, rather than the popularly accepted 16/17. I know The Lost Hero tries to say the oldest demigod at the cabin automatically becomes counselor unless challenged by someone who's been on more quests, but Annabeth was counselor at twelve, so I call bullshit and accept the demigod-that's-been-at-camp-the-longest rule as the one automatically takes the role when needed (also, there's nothing saying fourteen wouldn't be the oldest in the cabin post-war, anyways). So Drew could easily not be the oldest in the cabin, and still have to deal with suddenly being head of her family, on top of her older sister being revealed as a traitor, the grief of losing several siblings and friends, and the PTSD that comes with being a soldier.
I just think that'd be very fun for her <3
(And then just. Imagine Piper realizing that maybe she's the oldest, and her younger siblings took part in a war (that was arguably worse than the Giant War Piper was a part of), and maybe that's why Drew's a bit too much of a bitch sometimes, rather than just Girly Girls being automatically evil.)

You know at the end, Aegon ii, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron were failed by everyone in their family. Especially by their Targaryen relatives.
King viserys, their father. Didn’t care for them as much or showed any attention to them. Like when he died, neither of them really showed any sadness or grief over losing their father. He was just a stranger them other than him being their king.
Queen Rhaenyra, their older sister. She didn’t grow a bond with any of her siblings. There wasn’t any love or care between them. She never considered her half brothers as her brothers. She didn’t have a bond with her only sister. Which is why neither of them were hesitant to hurt each others family.
Prince Daemon, their uncle. He hated the Hightower’s so much that even though his younger nephews and niece were born Targaryens, they had Hightower blood in them because of their mother. he despised them for that and didn’t have a bond with them like he did with Rhaenyra. If he can get along with his niece who is sixteen years younger than him, he had no excuse to not get along with his nephews and niece.
Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, their older cousin. Now I understand that she is actually much older because she’s their fathers first cousin. But I feel like she as well, is part of the members of the Targaryen family that didn’t step up for her younger cousins. Much like viserys, she practically ignored them and she also hated the hightowers. (Now I didn’t wanna say too much on her because like I said she is much older and she has her own family so I understand)
Everyone likes to talk about and blame only Otto and Alicent for the siblings upbringing and how they turned out. But turn a blind eye to the fact that the family that they were BORN into, failed them as well and didn’t help at all.

Semi-comprehensible list of family relationships in the Poppy Worlwide AU:
EVERYONE considers Angel to be the mother/father of the toys, including Prototype/Elliot himself and the people outside the family
Prototype is Poppy and Catnap's adoptive father, and he's the closest with them. With enough time, all the other toys also start to refer to him as a father, but this is a process that takes years
Angel and the Prototype are married, but not on paper
Although the toys all share Angel (and eventually Elliot) as their parental figure, not all of them see each other as siblings. It's very important to note that the typical blood family relationships can't always describe what they all have, and this is okay. They are still a valid family, etc etc.
With that out of the way, Poppy and Catnap refer to each other as siblings. They do the same when talking about Kissy, Picky and Delight
Delight, Poppy, Dogday, Long Legs and Bubba are considered to be the older siblings. Not because of actual age, they just know what they are doing most of the time
Bunzo, Boxy Boo and Huggy are the youngest kids. Bunzo for actually being 11 y/o and the other two for being permanently stuck at 7 y/o
The mini huggies are also age locked, being 8 y/o
The mini critters and all other small toys are not age locked unless I change my mind all of a sudden
Mini huggies see Huggy and Kissy as the cool older siblings
Mini critters see Catnap as their cool older sibling, and eventually this extends to the other Smiling Critters
Boxy Boo and Hoppy are brother and sister
Hoppy sees Kickin as her annoying younger brother. He sees her as his annoying younger sister. They love each other (gen)
Kickin and Dogday share a very close brother relationship
Crafty and Bubba also refer to each other as sister and brother. Bobby and Bubba also use sister and brother when referring to each other
Long Legs is the closest with Picky and Delight, but after making amends with Poppy they also become close and love annoying each other
Bunzo is basically Long Legs' little annoying brother, and he loves copying what she's doing.
Dogday and Catnap are a couple!!!
Kickin and Bubba are also a couple!!!
Delight and Long Legs are ALSO an insufferable couple!!!
Kissy and Huggy have a sibling relationship
PJ is everyone's annoying sibling (endearing). He loves pestering everyone around him. May be the one who gave everyone and Angel the "headbonk as a way of affection" virus. Very proud of himself.

I assume as another member of the Aelwyn fan club you are also over the moon about her and her FIFTEEN cats moving back into Mordred? Hopefully the cats can get into the secret passages and maybe through the portal to Leviathan to get some air...
First of all, I'm so glad that this is my reputation in the fandom.
Second of all, you know I was absolutely *vibrating* when that moment happened. So much so that I ruined my sleep schedule that night spending two hours writing what was supposed to be a three paragraph post about Aelwyn's arc that turned into a longer than 1K piece of what I'm gonna call meta but is honestly just fanfic lol.
I love everything about this development. I love her being back. I love that Adaine clearly told her friends to cool it on the therapy speak because it was making her uncomfortable. I love that Kristen tried to accommodate her--even though it instantly backfired. I love how Aelwyn right away did the older sibling thing of, "Shh, shh, you're fine you're fine. Don't tell on me," because she was genuinely not trying to hit back as hard as she did. I love that Fig is instantly down to give her a wet willy. I love how much bratty younger sister that whole interaction had. I love that, unlike in the pilot episode where Adaine messed with her and she fired back with a spell, Aelwyn just got all grossed out and annoyed like a normal older sister would. I love the energy of Adaine's found family also to a degree becoming Aelwyn's found family just by proximity. I love that she somehow got five more cats. It's so very domestic and I'm here for it.

Dead Poets Society sibling head canons:
Pitts gives the vibe of guy with a bunch of sisters. I think he’s got two older ones and two younger ones. He just gives big family and middle child vibes.
I think Meeks is an only child and is slightly envious of Pitts big family.
I feel like Todd and Jeffery are the only kids the Andersons have
I think Charlie either has an older brother or older sister but the age gap between them is fairly large. I also think that sibling isn’t super close with the family anymore because of their parents. I also think maybe Charlie looked up to them until they left and their leaving hurt Charlie.
If Neil doesn’t die he would remain an only child and if he did then his parents wouldn’t have another one after.
Cameron was an only child for a long time but his parents recently had a baby girl. At first Cameron would be a little awkward interacting with the baby but takes his job as older brother really seriously.
Keating definitely had an older brother.
Knox feels like an only child or he has a younger brother who gets on his nerves a lot.

Zuko & Azula and the importance of Ember Island
As I’m not done with talking about ATLA: The Beach episode, so here comes additional observations about Zuko and Azula and how important Ember Island is to their relationship.
There are three major episodes that explore Zuko’s background and his relationship with family.
“The Storm”, told from Iroh’s point of view, focuses on physical and emotional damage done by abusive father
“Zuko Alone” gives us better insight into Royal Family’s dynamic, with a great focus on loving and supporting mother that one night disappeared from Zuko’s life
while “The Beach” is primarily about Zuko and Azula on the rare occasion when they are far away from Ozai and aren’t forced to fight against each other.
The Beach is also the episode that introduces us to Ember Island, a place that Zuko fondly remembers as a time when his family was truly happy.
In the same episode, after he got in an argument with Mai at the party, Zuko is seen walking toward his family’s old vacation house. The first memory that comes to his mind?
Tumblr media
Him and Azula running together, while we can hear children laughing in the background. There is an adult figure seen a few steps behind the happy children, but the shape is not detailed, so it could be Ozai or someone else.
This is an interesting choice on creators' part, to make the first memory not about Ursa, the undoubtedly source of comfort and love in Zuko’s life, but about Azula with whom he currently has a complicated relationship due to father’s abuse and favoritism that shattered their childhood bond. What is even more interesting, this is not the first time we see young Azula and Zuko happily chasing each other, as such a memory was already shown in “Zuko Alone”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And mind you, this memory was presented after flashback how Azula asked Zuko to play with her, Ty Lee and Mai so she could make fun of her older brother. What implies that despite how annoying she could be, Azula and Zuko still enjoyed each other's company and genuinely liked spending time together.
Let's back to "The Beach" episode and the scene when Azula sought Zuko, figuring out the old vacation home is where he would come to calm down.
Azula: I thought I'd find you here. Zuko: Those summers we spent here seem so long ago. So much has changed. Azula: Come down to the beach with me. Come on. This place is depressing.
This is one of three moments in the same episode, when Azula allowed himself to openly admit being emotional and/or upset about something. The house (past) is depressing. She is jealous how Ty Lee is liked by all boys while she has no clue how to interact with them. Her own mother thought she was a monster and how it still hurts.
Azula’s way to talk with Zuko is much more direct and less confusing than how she talks with him in the palace. There is no Zuzu nor dum-dum nickname, no making fun of his scar, no sentences that in theory answers his questions but in reality does not set him at ease. Here Azula invited him to go with her to the beach because she doesn’t want to be close to their summer house (the place where they were happy once but none visited for years).
Both Zuko and Azula are influenced by the past and this is a rare moment when they allow each other to be vulnerable in a way they can’t be around Ozai and themselves at the palace. In a way they won't be around the campfire (for example, during Zuko's rant about his anger because he doesn't know anymore what is good and what is bad, Azula will call him pathetic. Here there is no insult, no anger, just some sort of understanding between siblings).
A supplement book, The Legacy of Fire Nation adds another layer to the importance of Ember Island. I won’t lie, I’m disappointed that Iroh did not provide that much insight into Zuko’s family and how little there was about Azula, besides some few remarks about how difficult it was for Zuko to grow up in the shadow of younger sister. In contrast, Zuko’s memories about Ember Island are, again, directly connected to Azula first and foremost. In his list to Iroh (who already passed away many years ago), an old Zuko wrote:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dearest Uncle Iroh, Do you remember when I used to write you letters? It must be this place, having its effect on me, but here on Ember Island, I find myself introspective and thinking back about my life. I think I used to write to you to buy me presents. Such a cheeky child. I’ve retired now, given up my throne for the peace of this place, to be warmed by the sun and my own memories. I think of you often here. My good memories wash over the bad ones like waves on the shore, clearing the old sand and resetting. I remember summers on the beach, playing with Azula. We didn’t want to kill each other then, though sometimes we acted like it. But the island brought us together. It did that again, one time, in our teens. It was a golden time. One I never felt again until Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and I had finished our journey and had a moment to enjoy each other’s company. [...]
I can't stress enough: Old Zuko compared his short stay with Azula at Ember Island to the joy he felt when war was officially over and he spent time with his best, beloved friends. A golden time indeed.
We sadly have limited insight into Azula's mind, even less the older version of her, and how she felt about summers spent on the beach with her brother or the one vacation presented on screen. In the episode, she clearly enjoyed some things, like winning the game (with such nice teamwork between Azula and Zuko) or devastating Chen's house where the fateful party took place. Here, on Ember Island, Azula bonded with his brother and admitted to being hurt because mother thought she was a monster, something she internalized as a truth (“My own mother thought I was a monster. She was right, of course, but it still hurt.”). But above everything else, the fact she finds the summer house - where she and Zuko were happy once but her family does not visit anymore - a depressing place implies Azula was no less affected by the past than Zuko.
Similar impression comes from "Azula in the Spirit Temple" comics, in which runaway Azula imagined all her family together, chilling on Ember Island:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The vision of a happy family is not just about Azula, Ursa, Ozai and Zuko but was extended to Iroh and grandfather Azulan and great-grandfather Sozin(?) - a people she wasn't that close to in the first place. It speaks a lot about Azula that her idea of a happy family, because it is connected to her childhood memories, not the Fire Lord's Palace that in itself representing the Royal Family's status and power. So I dare to say that Ember Island holds a special place in Azula's mind, the same as it does for Zuko.
All of the above makes me think that when Zuko talks about Ember Island, how once his family was happy here, he specifically means his relationship with Azula, before Ozai’s abuse shattered their bond.

What would SKZ be as an overprotective baby brother to his older sister - will he show her off but ban his members from interacting with her, will the fact that she is older than all of them be the reason he 'hides' her from his members, will he just be happy that she's happy?
I like this concept so I turned it into a little drabble!
Thank you for your request! Hopefully I did it justice and you enjoy 💕

Dearest Little Brother - OT8! SKZ
Masterlist
Warnings: None
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chan He is very proud that you are his older sister so of course he’d show you off to his members, but he’s very protective over you. If one of his members ever showed interest in you romantically he would nip it in the bud. There’s no way he would allow any of the boys to pursue you. Chan thinks you deserve the absolute best and if he has to hand pick them himself then so be it.
Minho Doesn’t tell the others at first that he has an older sister. In some ways he’s a little envious of you because whenever you step into a room all attention is on you. It’s no different when the other boys eventually find out about you. Of course they’re absolutely enthralled with your presence, but your little brother, Minho is sulking in the corner. You’re his sister, not theirs. If he had it his way you would be home and under the radar.
Changbin Absolutely over the moon to show off his older sister to the members. You and Binnie had a great sibling relationship growing up and he would love nothing more than to share such an amazing person in his life with his group. You can’t come around much, but when you do, Changbin is the first one in line to parade you around.
Hyunjin Although he loved you as his big sister, he didn’t want the other boys chasing after you. He was extra cautious when you came around for practice or to the dorms, side-eyeing any of the boys that even dared to talk to you. He’d even go as far as stepping in between you and Chan when he came to you for a hug. Everyone knows Chan is a hugger and means nothing romantic by it, but Hyunjin was taking no chances.
Han Doesn’t mind that his members are actually pretty fond of you. You’re his older sister, who wouldn’t be? But Han is honestly a bit clueless of some of their advances towards you sometimes. The other boys don’t mean it seriously, it’s more of a tease, but it doesn’t work when Han pretty much has a question mark above his head whenever you tell him that Minho was blatantly flirting with you.
Felix Lowkey tries to set you up with one of his hyungs. He thinks one of them Changbin would be perfect for you. However, you aren’t all that interested in any of the boys. You see all of them as an extension of your little brother, Felix, and much prefer to keep it that way. That doesn’t necessarily stop them from trying though.
Seungmin Yes, he’s your younger brother and he loves you, but couldn’t care less about your relationship with the members. You are your own person and he totally respects that. Plus he knows his boys wouldn’t do anything to wrong or hurt you. You’re all practically family.
Jeongin The biggest overprotective little brother there is. He would introduce you to the other members but make it crystal clear that they are not to contact you without letting him know first. You and I.N come from a conservative family and he knows the boys can get a little cantankerous.

BRAID MY HAIR....PLEASE!
Tumblr media
PLATONIC! younger! yotsurugi siblings x older sister! reader
summary... you're braiding the hair of the longer-haired siblings and it seems hibaru wants his hair braided too!
warnings... fluff, brothers bickering, the siblings are around 7-11 y/o, hibaru and kou fight, name trying to keep peace, name is blood-related to hibaru
Tumblr media
sitting cross-legged on the couch, [name] is braiding the ninth adopted son of the yotsurugi siblings-- taira
taira was sitting down on the ground in front of his older sister and watching a show that was playing two men fighting with katanas
many of his siblings were here, talking amongst themselves or resting by [name] kuran was laying his back against the left side of [name] and kou was sitting beside him on the ground
shikaba was laying his head on arm rest of the couch while laying his feet on [name]'s lap
shio and satsuki were sitting together playing cards and his other brothers went to join them, his other sister was also sitting on the ground but was on her phone--seeming to play a game on it
while....hibaru and terasu... were nowhere to be found, hopefully not causing any trouble
BAM !
he spoke too soon...
"[NAME]! I WANNA- huh? what are you doing?"
hibaru jumped up and leaned over the right side of [name] to peek at what his older sister was doing, terasu doing the same
she looked over at him and smiled "I'm braiding taira's hair"
taira looked over his shoulder and lifted his chin lighting seeming proud of his hair "it's cool, right?"
hibaru nodded "ya! really cool! [name]! can you braid my hair too??"
[name] laughed lightly "i don't think you have enough hair for me to braid, hibaru"
hibaru's happy smile faded off his face and he touched his hair, but his smile came back "don't worry! ill grow it out like taira's! then you can braid it!"
before [name] could answer the happy brother, kou did
"pft...doubt it.." kou remarked
hibaru whipped his head around with a scowl towards kou "what was that!?"
"i said! you're bald!" kou yelled, "kou..please-" [name] couldn't finish before hibaru grabbed the pillow under shikaba--who groaned-- and plunged it at kou's face "eek!!"
"hibaru!-" [name] got interrupted again by hibaru, he jumped over the backside of the couch right onto the half-asleep shikaba
"ow!! hibaru!"
hibaru couldn't apologise right that second flew at kou and they both tumbled around the carpeted ground--shouting at each other
"take it back!"
"no! get off!"
"take it baack!!"
"ow! no!"
"[NAME]!!" both kou and hibaru shouted in unison
[name] had to put down the unfinished braid and lifted hibaru off of kou "kou...hibaru, please" name pleaded
both of them looked up at their older sister's disappointed face, before hibaru hid his face into [name]'s neck and mumbled "he...called me bald.."
"you are.." kou murmured
"wha-" [name] placed her hand over hibaru's mouth "ah!.. no more of that"
she felt hibaru's cheeks puff up under her hand but she didn't acknowledge it, "kou, after I'm done braiding taira's hair, it'll be your turn, ok?"
kou shook his head in understanding, [name] then turned around to see kuran waiting patiently to lean his back onto his sister's side again, and taira was waiting for his braid to be finished
she sat cross-legged on the couch again and placed hibaru on her lap
she felt kuran lean on her side again and turned to shikaba "are you okay shika?" "yeah..are you okay? im sorry for jumping on you.." hibaru apologized to his older brother
"yep, im okay..just tired" he yawned, he placed his feet onto terasu's lap now that he was sitting next to you, terasu looked up at you and smiled "hello"
you smiled softly "hello" terasu then rested his head on the side of your shoulder and watched the show that was continuing to play
carefully leaning over little hirabu she took taira's unfinished braid "here hibaru you can help me braid taira's hair, ok?"
"okay!" hibaru cheered
taira smiled softly at his younger brother's happy voice and relaxed into the bottom of the couch, kou also quietly leaned into taira's side
the other siblings seeing the relaxed state everyone else was on the couch, made their way to them and sat in open areas around their siblings
everyone happily watches the show together in peace
"I love all of you..so much" hibaru murmured and [name] kissed the top of his head

MASTERLIST | NEXT PART
Tumblr media
Matsukawa Issei prided himself at being the best at his job. He found it incredibly important and coming off so serious, quiet and intimidating, made him the perfect bodyguard. For the past few years he'd had the same assignment. He'd taken a job employed by a political family, assigned to protect their son, a childhood friend of Hanamaki.
Matsukawa didn't really become a bodyguard with the intention of being a personal bodyguard. Really, though, he couldn't complain about the hand he'd been dealt. His charge was incredibly well-behaved, easy to keep track of, and around the same age. It helped that after so much time with him, that Matsukawa started to see the other boy as a friend more than just an employer.
Matsukawa loved most of the family that employed him. Most of them. The daughter, however, the younger sibling of his main focus, was not his favorite to deal with. He intensely pitied her bodyguards. She didn't use to be so terrible... so he heard. Heard that the second she turned eighteen that she started to cause issues with her bodyguards.
In the years since then, she'd turned into what the press had deemed the "wild child" of the family. She was constantly getting into trouble, the party girl who made it her personal job to get each of her bodyguards to quit. She'd been, in the large part, successful in her quest.
Now, Matsukawa wasn't the biggest 'people person', he wouldn't even pretend to be. He didn't care much to work on his approachability or to make new friends. He was fond of the few friends he had, each in their own way, and didn't care to have more.
Just because he didn't care to work on his people skills didn't mean that he wasn't extremely observant of the habits of others and how he could interact with them. It was part of his job, after all, to watch and to take note of the people around himself and around the person he was meant to protect. Observe and figure out what was dangerous and what wasn't. Predict.
You happened to be in that line of sight a lot. Being the younger sister of the boy Matsukawa had been protecting for years put you there. You were constantly asking to be left alone, begging to not have a bodyguard, pleading for your independence. But your tendency to disappear for days on end only ever seemed to prove that you did need a bodyguard.
Matsukawa didn't think incredibly high of you. He found you too mouthy and loud, thought you were too promiscuous and risk-taking. You never double checked the cars you were getting into or the people you let into your social circles.
All-together, he was unimpressed with your antics, your habit of forcing bodyguards to quit. Corrupting them with your ways until they were ineffective at their jobs or simply driving them away. Either way, you always sent them off with a wave and a sweet smile that had no true good intentions behind it.
By that logic, it was why he was genuinely unsurprised with how you showed up tonight. Walked right into your family's Christmas party with no bodyguard in sight.
It wasn't that there was a huge attendance in your house that night, only your parents, you brother, Matsukawa and Hanamaki - who had taken on the job of being one of your family's personal drivers as soon as he'd graduated. Your home's general security staff were littered on the estate but it still put Matsukawa on edge seeing you waltz so nonchalantly into the party with no protection.
"Where is your bodyguard!" Your mother's voice shrieked, and Matsukawa's eyebrows raised in slight amusement as he sipped from his cup again. Your mother was always much more surprised than the others in your familial circle about your lack of protection.
"Oh," you laughed lightly, waving your hand in dismissal as you made your way to make yourself a drink, "he quite." The way you said it made it seem much more inconsequential than it actually was. "Something about not being able to fine me the other night made him a little crazy. Blah blah blah, something something." You shrugged as you laughed, stirring your drink with an amused smile. "Who knows really."
Matsukawa couldn’t help but scoff at the attitude you displayed. It really wasn’t his favorite, the whole 'throw caution to the wind' act you liked to put on. “How long since he’s been gone?” You hummed in question at your father’s question, feigning innocence as you tilted your head. “How long did you neglect to tell us that your bodyguard had quit, y/n?”
“Oh.” Your little giggle, a refusal to take the matter seriously, made Matsukawa glad that he had your brother to take care of instead of you. “About a week now.”
Matsukawa had been fine to ignore you for the night. He had busied himself in idle conversation with your brother as you entertained yourself with conversation with Hanamaki. You’d, thankfully, avoided him as he did you, finding him irritating whenever he refused to participate in your incessant need to mess with everyone around you. It was your moment of weakness that landed you both where you were now.
You’d stopped paying attention for only a second, staring at your phone one moment and smacking straight into a hard chest the next. You’d froze in your spot, your moment of weakness as you swallowed hard, staring at how his black buttoned shirt was tight against his broad chest.
“Are you okay?” You looked up then, realizing just who’d you’d run into while turning into the room. His black curls were slightly messy, the result of consistently touching it over the last few hours, trying to keep them out of his face. You were blinking up at him for a second too long as he looked down at you, trying to gauge if you were hurt at all or just in shock.
It was your moment of weakness that had trapped you both there, vulnerable to your brother. “Well are you gonna kiss her!?” Your brother’s drunken voice drew both of your attentions, your eyes snapping over to him before both you and Matsukawa’s eyes trailed up. You rolled your eyes when you saw the mistletoe dangling above your heads. However, you brightened up a bit, amusement dancing on your features when you noted how Matsukawa groaned, eyes falling shut in disbelief.
You’d never had the pleasure of being this close to him before now. It was overwhelming if you were being honest with yourself. Overwhelming with him towering over you like he was. You were feeling the compulsion to flee from the situation, but with all your family laughing and urging the two of you to kiss, it wasn’t likely that it would be possible.
You did, however, feel a bit of pleasure, watching him squirm uncomfortably, a look on his face that you weren't accustomed to seeing. You couldn’t help but note his hesitation when he looked back to you finally.
“What? Are you scared of a little kiss with a little girl, big bad bodyguard?” You teased up at him, a smirk on your lips as you stepped up to the challenge that your family was presenting. You were expecting him to scoff at you, to walk away, roll his eyes like he usually did when you tried to drag him into your antics. Expecting, really, anything but what you got.
He dipped his head smoothly. A single fluid motion had his hand cupping the side of your jaw easily, gentle but firm. He paused for only a moment just away from your lips to whisper his reply. “Absolutely terrified.” It was too quiet for anyone else to hear and too soon after came the feeling of his lips on yours.
Matsukawa didn’t mean to admit that weakness to you. If you asked him later about it he would feign it as your imagination or blame it on the alcohol that corrupted his blood. But at that moment, the only thing he could think about, was that his heart was beating much too quickly at the prospect of kissing a mere acquaintance. A mere acquaintance that he wasn't even remotely fond of. Afraid that it was his body’s way of telling him that he might not have as much of a distaste for her as he’d like to believe.
Neither of you fully hear the way your family whoops and hollers at the action, much too focused on the weight of each others’ lips and presence. It isn’t until he pulls back that the drunken cheers of the family were loud again. Like opening a door to let it all back in.
It was you frozen now, flustered, heat creeping up to your cheeks as he walked away from you like nothing had happened. Like he hadn't just kissed you breathless. Left you stuck in your spot, fingers ghosting across your lips. Your stomach can't help but turn a little bit inside of you at the thought that creeps along the edges of your mind. Maybe he was more to you than just your brother’s bodyguard.
Matsukawa on the other hand, had left so quickly in desperation to pour himself another drink with Hanamaki. Maybe it was just the alcohol that was making him feel dizzy and act out in ways he usually wouldn't, but that was definitely not how he was supposed to kiss you. Not how he should have kissed the member of a family employing him.
Now that he was thinking about it, he should have just pressed his lips to your cheek instead of holding your face and connecting your lips. Not only connecting them, but connecting them for seconds longer than he should have. He hopes it's the alcohol. A funny feeling in his gut, however, is saying that it's wrong to even hope that.
You and Matsukawa both spend the rest of the night desperately trying to avoid each other. Your attention is kept mostly by your phone; calls and texts keeping you busy, while Matsukawa finds himself engaged with Hanamaki. Hanamaki, who unfortunately is stuck with his best friend because he knows the man is uncomfortable, and as much as he wants to leave, won’t.
Both of you too busy trying to avoid the other that you were completely missing the way your brother and parents gathered together to watch you both. To watch the two of you dance around each other as if choreographed.
Your brother nodded his head like a decision being made. “You know that I don’t really need a personal bodyguard anymore. I haven't for a while, now. She can take mine.” He tilted his head toward Matsukawa in mention, trying to keep his smile off his face as he suggested the idea to your parents.
“I’m not sure about that idea.” Your dad was still glaring lightly at the man being mentioned. It was a battle in his own head. On the one hand, Matsukawa was a good bodyguard, had always kept your brother safe. On the other, he didn’t want you to run Matsukawa off the way you had so many before. But alas, you needed someone to protect you.
“Is that what setting them up for that kiss was about?” Your mother questioned. She was referring to how your brother had sent Matsukawa to grab him another drink right as you had been coming back from getting one, letting him know that she'd seen his play even from across the room.
“It was proving a point.” He laughed lightly, like an inside joke to himself. “Have you ever seen her speechless like that before? When does she ever shut up?” Your parents were reluctantly nodding along, knowing what he was saying was true. “All it took from him was one kiss?”
“He could blend into her social circles better than some others.” Your mother mused, looking pointedly towards your father.
Your brother smiled as he listened to your parents conferring in hushed whispers. He knew what he was doing, it was his plan of course. You were wild and rebellious, and Matsukawa was stubborn and quiet, tough enough that you wouldn’t be able to run him off. He would be perfect at handling you.
Your brother really was more observant than most of his family. He’d seen the way that Matsukawa’s eyes tended to linger on you a little more when he was scanning those around you. Noticed how you tended to behave a little more with the bodyguard around, although he was sure you were both oblivious to that fact.
You were still yawning by the time that you came down the steps the next morning. Everyone had had way too much to drink during the party to drive home and had stayed the night, more than enough rooms littered on the estate for it to be an issue. You had no idea what you were walking into when you entered the kitchen looking for coffee.
Matsukawa had already been awake. He’d been sat on the stool in the kitchen staring at the coffee he'd made. Coffee he no longer thought was strong enough for the past ten minutes as your family talked at him. At him and not to him. He wasn't truly expected to respond.
He was swearing that the news he was being given was divine retribution. Maybe the punishment for crimes committed in a past life. Something he'd done wrong earlier in this one. Maybe just repercussions for enjoying the way your lips felt against his the night before.
“So, we think that you would be perfect to be her bodyguard instead of mine.” Your brother’s voice had been what had started Matsukawa’s internal debate about this being hell. His own personal hell.
He’d nearly dropped his coffee at the declaration of his former friend. A small “fuck” slipping out of his lips as your parents had joined the table.
“What?” Your brother was good at keeping his voice even, hiding the small smirk on his lips with the back of his hand as he watched Matsukawa’s face heat up a bit. “It’s not like you like her or anything, right Matsukawa?” Matsukawa had to stop himself from choking on another sip of coffee and didn’t even get the chance to address the jab before your mother spoke up.
“We aren’t asking you to love her.” She knew that you could be a pain. It was common for your bodyguards to include somewhere in their resignations: ‘I hate her, I can’t do this!’ or something to the likeness.
“We’re really just asking you to keep her in line.” Your father said, patting Matsukawa’s shoulder comfortingly. Then added as an afterthought, “well, as much as you can.”
“Yeah,” your brother got a side-eyed look from Matsukawa as he noticed the scheming tone in his voice (one he was too familiar with), “and if you need to shut her up, well…. You already know what to do right?” Matsukawa’s head tilted in confusion, opening his mouth to ask what your brother meant but was interrupted by you finally entering the kitchen.
Your eyebrows drew together and you narrowed your eyes as you took in the way your family was positioned. Everyone’s eyes had immediately gone to you except for Matsukawa. “What’s going on here?” You asked, gaze flitting from one person to another, trying to read the looks on their faces.
“Matsukawa is going to be your new bodyguard.” Your mother said, happily, as she set her hands on Matsukawa’s shoulders.
The words you instinctively wanted to let loose were were along the lines of ‘oh you’re fucking kidding me,’ or 'I don't need a bodyguard,' maybe even 'like hell he is.'
You paused, taking in the way Matsukawa looked in his seat, slumped and possibly even slightly uncomfortable with his newly assigned task. You thought back to the night before, how he'd admitted in a whisper to being terrified about having his lips on yours. Thought back to the feeling of his lips on yours.
Maybe he would be fun for you. You could feel your lips form a small smirk as you looked at him, devious thoughts and plans of how to corrupt him infiltrating your mind. “How perfect.”
And it was perfect, because even if he wasn’t aware of it, even if you weren't aware of it, he had a knack for 'taming' you. Your brother knew that. It wasn’t like anyone expected you to corrupt him. You weren't expected to chip away at his hardened exterior and weasel your way into his core being.
He was at your mercy now. But you were at his too.
