Tumblr media
They felt like all the air was taken from their lungs, and everything they heard was the beating of their own heart. Her eyes couldn’t leave the silhouette of the man standing before them. They only saw his dark eyes, and even if they saw them for the first time, they felt like they knew them better than anything. They watched how he raised his tattooed hand and uncovered his face, and they couldn’t help the small smile that came into their face. Masked people could start shooting every second, but at that moment, they could die as a happy person - they just saw the most handsome man on this planet. They saw it for the first time when they were awake but knew it was a face they had seen in their dreams. At the sound of his raspy voice, their heart lost a beat. The warrior moved closer, walking behind his people when Rick behind them said:  “I already told you I got him”. The Egyptian looked at them and felt silent for a moment. They could see a surprise in his eyes - as some memories had come to him. Both of them felt like everything was on the right track. It didn’t matter that the creature was alive - two parts of one soul found each other. They never wanted to believe in love at first sight, but when he stood before them, they couldn’t stop their heart from longing for him. Ardeth made himself raise his eyes at the American.“Know this, this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, and he will never stop.” He moved his eyes at the women between them. “If you want to survive, leave this place.” At this moment, they could only watch his dark eyes, and then they nodded.“We will.” They hated how weak their voice sounded at that moment, but they could swear that the corner of his mouth rose just for a second, like he’d stop himself from smiling. They looked at each other before he turned and walked after his people. They didn’t turn their eyes, watching his silhouette disappear in the darkness. They couldn’t stop thinking about him the whole ride to Cairo. They tried to be helpful when Rick and Evelyn argued - they helped to patch up poor Mr Burns and rested a little before they’d tried to help Evy find a solution. They heard the woman screaming that it was their obligation since they woke up the monster, and they couldn’t agree more. When they were washing their hands, the water turned into blood, and they couldn’t stop a scream from their mouth. They were terrified when the fire started falling from the sky. It was a shock to see the man from the Hamunaptra in the museum. They exchanged a few looks, and it was enough for them to find a little peace in this madness, and for the first time in days, they felt safe. Madiaj told them the story of Imhotep and they started to get hope that they really could find a way to come out of this alive. When they finally agreed on what everybody needed to do and started walking to the car, they looked back at him one more time and smiled when they realised that he was watching them. “Miss/Mister…” he came closer to them, and they knew that Evy and Rick slowed a little while waiting for them, “Are you hurt?” At their surprised look, he moved his hand to point to a bloody stain on their clothes.“Oh, no... I’m not hurt. I was washing my hands when the water turned into blood...Thank you for asking. It’s very kind of you, Mr…” They smiled gently and noticed that the corners of his lips moved a little, just like he was close to smiling. “Ardeth Bay.” Her smile grew wider when they told him their name. The longing of their heart for him was surprising, just like how their body responded to even the smallest smirk. They wanted to know him better, even if they already felt that strange similarity in his presence.“I hope that all of your people are alright.” They wrapped their arms around themself to stop themself from trying to touch him. “They are.” They breathed with relief, nodding. “But they won’t hesitate to die if it will stop this creature.” Ardeth saw that pain came into their face hearing this sentence. He wanted to take it away from them, to hold them and keep them safe. He didn’t understand why he felt so attracted to them, but it was a nice feeling. They were like a breath of fresh air in the heat of the desert, and he wanted, no, he needed to feel it again. “I hope it won’t be necessary.” They heard Rick calling their name, and they turned to look at him. They knew that it was the moment that they should go. With every minute, Imhotep was closer to winning. They nodded at him and moved their eyes to the Egyptian. “Mr Bay, please be careful. I… I hope we meet again.” They gently touched his arm and moved to join Rick and Evy. Before they left the room, they looked again at Ardeth and smiled, and they could swear that for a few seconds, he did the same. Not everything worked in their favour. Egyptologist and Henderson were dead, Imhotep was nearly regenerated, and the only idea to beat him was only a legend. They anxiously walked after Rick and the rest of the team. Twisting their fingers, they watched how Evy tried to find the location of the Book of Amun-Ra. They were so lost in their mind that they didn’t notice Ardeth coming closer to them. He gently touched their elbow, making them jump. He looked at them apologetically, and they smiled nervously. “We met again.” He smiled at them, and they couldn’t help but laugh quietly. “We did. However, I hoped it could happen in a little calmer situation.” They looked straight into his eyes and felt like their heart had stopped for a moment. “I… I know it will sound weird if anything in that situation could be normal. I feel like I know you. Not from now, but like… like my soul finally was whole just by meeting you. It’s probably a wrong time to say it, but I felt like I had to do it.” They looked down at their shoes, feeling ashamed. They were afraid of his reaction, but who knows how long they would live. However, they didn’t see the smile forming on his face. He gently touched their chin and made them look at him again. “I know this feeling. Of everything being completed and in peace only because… you are here, next to me. I don’t understand it wholly, but maybe it also was destined in ancient times.” “Maybe that is the answer.” They smiled and touched his hand. Not caring about decency, they rose on their tiptoes and connected their lips. They felt his other hand fall on their hip, and their heart started beating faster. They found him, and they knew that whatever waits for them in future will end up happily. Two souls destined to stop the evil from ancient times found each other again. Like many times ago, they find a way to win.

"If I walk any further, my legs will fall off." With characters from the mummy maybe? <3
A/N: My first story for The Mummy! This one’s set during the 2nd movie, and reader is Rick’s daughter from a previous relationship.
Tumblr media
"If I walk any further, my legs will fall off."
You had travelled with your father to many distant countries. You could fight well with a sword, knew how to shoot a pistol from miles off, and was a history geek in every aspect useful. Rick always had difficulty keeping you away from the accidental danger of some of his expeditions, having barely shaken you off when he was soldiering, and such a task had only proved harder with each year as you grew in strength and confidence.
He knew it was more than an innocent craving of adventure. Though his blood ran through your veins and you loved a good mummy resurrection as much as he did, it was a subdued separation anxiety that ruled your every move concerning your family. Something about experiencing the death of one parent while constantly living in the shadow of death for the other had sparked something in you, an invisible tie between you and anyone you were close to that seemed a little tighter than it perhaps needed to be.
This particular adventure had taken it out of you, Rick could tell. You’d been searching for Alex in the lost oasis of Ahm Shere for long enough now. Though it was hitting you all hard, you were feeling it the most. You’d been lagging behind for a good hour, dragging your feet, not at all on your guard, and he had consciously slowed his own pace so he could walk behind you, just in case you ran into trouble.
These had been the first words you’d spoken since entering the oasis, and Rick sighed after hearing them.
“We can’t stop, kiddo,” he said, glancing around, “gotta keep moving if we’re gonna find Alex tonight.”
“We can’t stop for a minute?” Your voice had an edge to it, evidence that your desire to stop for a while was for something other than a pain in your legs he knew on any other day you’d ignore.
He increased his pace slightly to put a hand on your shoulder and squeeze in reassurance. “Come on, you’ve walked longer than this before.”
Your shoulders visibly tensed and Rick prepared himself for a verbal battle that would only worsen your moods and effect the search for Alex. You had a fieriness you’d mostly inherited from your mother, not that he much remembered how your mother had been in the one night they’d shared together.
You stopped, supposedly to turn and give him a piece of your mind he knew would only be induced by your anxiety over the kidnapping of your brother, but Ardeth spoke before you could, the Medjai stepping swiftly back towards you before you could open your mouth.
“I can carry you,” he offered, shifting his weapons belt around.
You rolled your eyes. “I don’t need to be carried. I need my brother.” You made to walk again, brushing past Ardeth just as he reached out and gently caught your upper arm in his grip.
“I am well used to your stubborn mind, little Y/N, but put that aside for now. The quicker you accept my help, the quicker we find your brother and return home. Yes?”
You glanced between Ardeth and Rick, to Jonathan and Evy further up the trail.
“Come, sweetheart,” Evy said, “rest your legs a bit.”
Rick watched with a heaviness in his heart as you struggled with the two parts of your mind. The one that screamed for independence and adventure, and the other that wanted nothing more in this moment than for your family to be together and safe. He knew you better than you knew yourself, and he was more than certain that all you needed was to feel someone against you for a little while and you would return to relative normalcy.
Huffing, you turned to face Ardeth expectantly. He smiled, nodded once, and bent a little for you to jump onto his back. He held you steady behind him and readjusted his grip as you wrapped your arms loosely around his neck and tucked your chin against his shoulder.
“You sure I’m not too heavy?” you muttered as he began moving again.
Ardeth chuckled. “I have carried injured men hundreds of miles through the desert. You, my dear, are hardly comparative.”
You inwardly sighed. You could already feel the tension leave both your body and your mind as you shut your eyes and thought about Alex. His boyish laugh, the love in his big heart, the hilarious jokes he sometimes spewed that were wise beyond his tiny years. You thought about them. You thought about the hug you’d give him when you reunited, and rested your cheek against the back of Ardeth’s head, matching your breathing to the bobbing of his movements.

The Blade of Eternity
Whumptober 2022: 14. “I’ll be right behind you.”, Alt Prompt for Day 22. Stabbing Fandom: The Mummy, Ardeth Bay Word Count: 1549 TW: Angst, Sword Fighting, Curses, Separation Notes: Thank you to @waywaychuck for the request to write for Ardeth. It is my first attempt at him but I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
When your old buddy Rick had asked you to join him on his latest adventure, there was no way you ever expected it to turn out the way it did. Mummies and curses and death and almost the end of the world. But once the fighting had settled and the day had been saved, Rick walked away with the love of his life, and so did you.
Ardeth was unlike any of the men you had been drawn to in the past. He was stoic, calm, and composed. Yet the moment he picked up his sword, he came alive with a ferocity and passion that took your breath away. After your adventure fighting Imhotep, Rick, Evie, and Jonathan decided to move to London, but you stayed behind in Egypt. For the past two years, you have lived with Ardeth and the Medjai, watching over not only Imhotep’s tomb but various other cursed places in the area.
Which is how the two of you found yourselves in your current predicament. Rumors had been swirling that some explorers had stumped upon one of the tombs you guarded. It was said to house the Blade of Eternity, a dagger that contained the power to turn anyone whose skin was pierced by it into a statue of sand. It was also said that the statues of its victims would come to life and become an army that would be under the command of whoever possessed the Blade. If that was true, the Blade could not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands.
So, you and Ardeth hurried to the tomb and quickly navigated the twisting passageways until you reached the center throne room. You arrived just in time to see one of the explorers removing the Blade of Eternity from its resting place on the altar. Ardeth tried to cry out a warning but it was too late.
Suddenly, a massive gust of wind whipped around the room, swirling a wave of sand around the man and blocking him from view. Ardeth pulled you close to protect you from the stinging bite of the sand and you buried your face into his chest.
When the storm settled, you peeked your head up to see the man still standing at the altar. He seemed perfectly fine except for his eyes. They were now glowing a bright yellowish-white, almost like two small suns nestled in his face. As he gazed down at the blade, a low, cruel laugh began to bubble out of his chest. It grew louder as he raised the Blade into the air before stabbing it down into the altar.
A bright light flashed through the room, temporarily blinding you. As you tried to recover, the room began to shake. The man with the Blade’s other companions looked around nervously. One approached the man slowly and held out his hand.
In one quick movement, the man with the Blade ripped the dagger from the altar and stabbed it into his companion’s heart. You gasped loudly in surprise, the sound finally drawing attention to you and Ardeth.
The man with the Blade’s face twisted into a demented grin as he made eye contact with you. Then, without breaking it, he yanked the dagger from his companion's chest. The companion fell to the floor but even as you watched, you could see his skin starting to quickly crust over as he began turning into one of the sand statues that lined the room.
There was another tremble throughout the tomb and with a start, you realized that those statues were beginning to move as they came to life to follow their new master. You glanced at Ardeth and he met your eye. He nodded and the two of you drew your swords at the same time. You had to get the dagger away from the man as soon as possible before more and more of the sand statues came to life. If not, you would quickly be outnumbered. With a loud cry, you launched yourself into the room.
The fight was a blur of swords and sand. The staatues were much more solid than you expected, taking much more force and effort to stop than anticipated. And for every one you managed to cut down, another took its place. You quickly lost sight of Ardeth in all of the excitement. At one point you thought you saw him near the altar and you heard a small grunt that you could have sworn was his, but you couldn’t be sure.
Eventually, you managed to maneuver your way around to the back of the altar. The man with the Blade was preoccupied with controlling his army and he never saw you coming. With one fierce thrust of your sword, you drove it through his back and into his heart.
The man gasped as he dropped the Blade of Eternity. He looked over his shoulder at you as the twin suns in his eyes slowly faded and he disintegrated into a pile of sand. All of the statues immediately froze in place; no longer having a master to control them. Ardeth was the only one still standing and he smiled softly up at you, pride shining on his face. You smiled back just as warmly.
Then, you took off your scarf and used it to pick up the Blade of Eternity without directly making contact with it. As carefully as possible, you placed it back on its pedestal on top of the altar but as soon as you did, the entire tomb began to shake. Sand dropped from the ceiling and you noticed in horror that the entrance to the room was slowly closing.
“Why are all of these places always boobytrapped!” You yelled as you jumped off of the alter. Running over, you grabbed Ardeth’s hand. “Come on! We have to get out of here.”
The two of you took off towards the exit, hand in hand. But just as you could see the first glimpse of sunlight peeking through from up ahead, Ardeth stumbled, his hand slipping from yours. You turned to see him panting heavily with one hand pressed against his side as he tried to catch his breath.
Hurrying back to him, you said, “Come on, we’re almost there. We can make it.”
But as you tried to pull him along, he winced, taking a deep shuddering breath. Your eyes widened as you pushed his hand from his side. There was a small gash in his robes where they had been sliced, but instead of oozing blood, sand poured from the wound instead.
He looked up at you, his dark eyes full of regret. “I’m sorry, my love.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you asked, your voice trembling.
“There was nothing you could do. Now, go, hurry. I’ll be right behind you.”
You shook your head as you whispered, “No, you won’t.”
He smiled, wiping a tear from your cheek. “No… I won’t.”
Throwing yourself into his arms, you sobbed into his chest. There is no way to fix this. From the moment he had been cut, his fate had been sealed. Ardeth was now cursed with a fate worse than death and there was nothing you could do about it.
Yet, you couldn’t accept that, wouldn’t accept that. In the last few years, you had seen too many impossible things to believe that there wasn’t a way to save him. Somewhere out there, scrawled on a piece of long-forgotten parchment or etched into a temple wall, there had to be a way to stop this magic and save your love.
As you lifted your head to stare up into his eyes, Ardeth cupped your face in his hand. You smiled softly. “I’ll find a way. I promise. No matter how long it takes me, I will come back for you.”
He smiled back at you as he ran his thumb across your cheek. “I know you will.” Drawing you in, he pressed his lips against yours.
The kiss was all-consuming. It carried the heat of the desert sun and the intensity of a wild sandstorm. It said everything neither of you had the words for and so much more. But more than anything, it wasn’t a goodbye. It was a promise of ‘until we meet again’.
As he broke away, he pushed you gently towards the trickle of light in the distance. “Go. And carry my love with you.”
“Always,” you whispered as you began to back away. Taking one last lingering look at the man you loved, you turned and sprinted for the entrance of the tomb.
Making it to the door just as it was about to shut completely, you dove under it, scrambling to get far enough away as soon as you hit the sand. With a massive *thump* the door sealed itself behind you.
Panting, you rose to your feet and stumbled over to the door. Pressing your hand against it, you wondered if Ardeth was doing the same on the other side…. Or if he was even still human enough to do so. As tears began to roll down your cheeks once more, you silently promised him you would be back. One way or another, you would find a way to free him from this curse.

The first (and most tame) installment in my version of the NSFW ABCs challenge.
I'll be posting them as separate fics, because some will be Rick/Evy and some Ardeth/Rick/Evy, so people can easily find the pairing that suits their taste.
I hope you enjoy!

If he was honest, he hadn't been able put the man out of his mind since they'd been in the tomb at Hamunaptra and he'd had his nasty run-in with the scarab; Ardeth's sure and strong hands holding him steady while he had an ancient insect removed from his shoulder had left quite the impression. His dashing smile and warm, sincere eyes were nothing Jonathan would soon forget either.

@laurelindebear here’s your very belated Secret Santa gift! Hope you enjoy it.❤️ Massive thanks to @picklebrinedgoblinmind and @belphegor1982 for their brainstorming help!

“Kamose, Khaba...Khaemwaset!” Evy exclaimed triumphantly to the empty library, as if she’d just unearthed a centuries-old Egyptian artifact. “There you are.”
The challenge of locating a single volume amongst the scattered piles of books almost made battling an all-powerful reanimated mummy look like child’s play. As at Hamunaptra, however, she had help with the task; over the past couple of weeks, she and Rick had managed to create some semblance of order from the chaos Evy’s reshelving accident had caused. She placed the book on the shelf and continued sifting through the pile at her feet, then nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of a familiar voice behind her.
“Ah, Khaemwaset, the first Egyptologist.”
Evy spun around and found herself face to face with Ardeth Bay, leader of the Medjai, the order charged with protecting Hamunaptra and other sacred sites in Egypt.  He was accompanied by a small group of men who could only be warriors under his command, as they wore the same flowing black robes, and their faces were tattooed with the same hieroglyphs.
Evy hesitated, uncertain as to how to greet him. She knew she owed her life partly to this man, but it was difficult to forget the Medjai’s attacks on the Sudan and their camp at Hamunaptra, and Ardeth surely hadn’t forgotten that she was the one who had woken Imhotep. Imhotep…oh, God, had he risen again already? No, if that were the case, Ardeth would know it hadn’t been her doing this time.
"As-salaam 'alykum, Ardeth," she said eventually, her tone friendly yet tentative.
"Wa ‘alaykum as-salaam, Evelyn,” Ardeth replied to Evy’s relief. His smile was small, but it contained enough warmth to reassure her that he felt no ill will toward her. “So, you admire Khaemwaset?"
"Very much."
Evy had read extensively about Khaemwaset, the fourth son of Ramesses the Great, who had dedicated his life to restoring and preserving the monuments of earlier pharaohs. Many Western Egyptologists were concerned only with acquiring treasure, showing little care for the sites they excavated; Evy had promised herself years ago that she would follow Khaemwaset’s approach.
“That is no surprise. There is much to admire about him. Giza would likely have crumbled into dust if it were not for his efforts.” A delighted smile spread across Evy’s features. This conversation was taking such a pleasant and unexpected turn that any remaining apprehension she felt about the Medjai’s sudden arrival evaporated. “But he was not without faults. I trust you know the story of Khaemwaset and the Book of Thoth?”
"Of course.” The tale of how Khaemwaset had discovered a magic book belonging to the god of wisdom in the tomb of the magician Naneferkaptah had long been one of Evy’s favorites. “Wait,” she said, a realization dawning on her as the full meaning of Ardeth’s words sank in, “you’re telling me that story is real? The Book of Thoth is real?” Evy felt a rush of excitement in her chest. The Book of Thoth would be a fantastic addition to the library.
Ardeth chuckled at her reaction. “As real as the Book of Amun-Ra. Although I would advise you not to go searching for it—or, if you must, not to read from it.”
"Believe me, I've learned my lesson when it comes to reading from strange books," Evy replied, though some of the mirth faded from her expression. "What brings you here?"
"I thought that in light of Dr. Bey's passing, you could use some help putting your affairs in order. But it looks as if you're managing quite well on your own."
A pang of regret struck Evy at the mention of her former employer’s death, and she opted instead to respond to the latter part of Ardeth’s comment. "Not entirely on my own. Rick's been helping, but he had some errands to run today."
"I see. Then we shall help you until he returns.”
“Oh, no, I would hate to impose—"
“It is no imposition, Evelyn,” Ardeth assured her. “Simply give us your instructions and we will carry them out.”
“Me?” Evy said incredulously. Who was she to give orders to the Medjai?
But Ardeth smiled encouragingly and said, “Who else? You are the librarian." His fellow Medjai nodded their agreement, and Evy’s chest swelled with pride.
“Very well.”
 -
A few hours later, Evy looked around the library in amazement. She would never discount Rick’s help, but having several pairs of hands at her disposal allowed her to fill the bookshelves much faster. Despite her initial reluctance to order them about, the Medjai followed her instructions promptly and without complaint.
“I really can’t thank you enough for this,” she told Ardeth, dropping a pile of books onto one of the tables and slumping into a chair for a brief rest. The Medjai chieftain did likewise, taking the chair opposite Evy and smiling warmly.
“Afwan. Not at all, Evelyn. Dr. Bey informed me of your accident and that you would require help.”
“He did?” That seemed quite at odds with Dr. Bey’s words when he’d first seen the mess she made.
 “Yes. Does that surprise you?”
“He was quite angry. He didn’t seem inclined to help me.” “Indeed, he was angry, but even so, he did not wish for you to bear the burden alone. He spoke quite highly of your abilities as a librarian.” “Now there’s a surprise.” Dr. Bey had been irritated with her more often than not, and according to the man himself, he’d only kept her around out of respect for her parents. After the tongue-lashing he'd given her, Evy had assumed he considered her completely useless. “Are you sure we’re talking about the same man?”
For the second time that day, Ardeth chuckled. Evy hadn’t been joking in the slightest, but she couldn’t help but feel some small measure of satisfaction that she’d managed to break through the Medjai’s stoic exterior. “He may have been harsh at times, but only a fool would not see your talent and potential. Dr. Bey was many things, but he was no fool.”
“No, certainly not. But you have every reason to think I’m a fool after all the trouble I caused.” Evy’s gaze dropped to the table. Ardeth had given no indication that he still blamed her for the events at Hamunaptra, but intentionally or not, she had sabotaged his life’s work and gotten at least one of his fellow Medjai killed. It was difficult to believe he would want to help her even as a favor to Dr. Bey. Eventually, a hand on top of hers jolted her attention back to the present, and she glanced across the table to find Ardeth regarding her with gentle brown eyes.
“Quite the contrary. It was not foolishness that drove you to read from the Book, but a hunger for knowledge, and you put that knowledge to good use in defeating the creature. I would have offered my assistance even if he had not asked.” The corners of Evy’s mouth tugged up in a small smile.
“Thank you. Truly.” Ardeth nodded, and Evy wondered if it was a Medjai trait to hide a kind heart behind a stern and intimidating façade. If what Ardeth had told her was true, Dr. Bey had also possessed this trait, at least to some degree. A wave of melancholy swept over her at the thought, and she admitted, “I miss him. Even though we didn’t have the best relationship, he looked out for Jonathan and me in his own way, and it’s hard to imagine anyone running the museum as well as he did.”
“Dr. Bey was a great man. He was chosen as curator because the Medjai believed his knowledge of Egyptology to be unmatched. I have no doubt that at the time, this was true.” At the time? Evy’s head tilted to one side in confusion. “And now?”
“And now there is someone with knowledge equal to his, perhaps even greater, who I believe to be the only person worthy of succeeding him.” “Who?”
“You, Evelyn.”  Evy was so taken aback that she had to grip the edge of the table to keep from falling out of her chair. She stared wordlessly at the Medjai for a moment before blinking and shaking her head.
“Me? You can’t be serious.”
“I assure you; I am quite serious.” Evy searched the Medjai’s expression and quickly concluded that he was, indeed, being sincere. He didn’t strike her as the type to crack a joke at someone else’s expense, particularly about something concerning a dead man who had played an important role in both of their lives. Still, she couldn’t help but question his judgment.
“After all this,” she said with a sweeping gesture that encompassed the entire library, “I think I’m the last person who should be in charge.”
“Respectfully, I must disagree. Looking at ‘all of this’ only furthers my belief that you are the only person capable of running this museum to a standard Dr. Bey would be proud of.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Do you not see all you have accomplished today? Look how many shelves you have managed to fill.”
“Don’t you mean how many shelves we’ve managed to fill?”
Ardeth shook his head. “All we did was follow your orders. You say you are the last person who should be in charge, but you have proven yourself more than capable of taking charge when the situation requires it. And are you not the only the only person within a thousand miles who knows how to properly code and catalogue this library?” The Medjai’s lips quirked up as he quoted the words Evy had spoken to Dr. Bey in her own defense, and she could have sworn she saw a twinkle in the corner of his eye.
“Well, yes,” she admitted with a sheepish smile, “but still, I’m not sure I deserve to be rewarded for cleaning up my own mess.”
“One mistake does not define you.”
“It wasn’t my only mistake. Just my biggest one.”
“Perhaps that is true, yet my point still stands. There is no one alive who has not made mistakes, myself included. Even Dr. Bey had his failings, but they did not diminish his diligence and wisdom. He saw those same qualities in you—as do I.”
Again, Evy was rendered speechless, a lump forming in her throat. She didn’t know what she’d expected when Ardeth first arrived, but a job offer certainly wasn’t it. Was there no end to the Medjai leader’s generosity?
When she found her voice, she cleared her throat to remove the lump and said for what must have been the hundredth time that day, “Thank you—for everything. I’m honored. If there’s anything at all I can do for you in return—”
“I would ask nothing of you except that you care for yourself as diligently as you have cared for this library. And a letter every so often would not be unwelcome.”
He wanted them to be friends. A surge of warmth filled her as she replied, “I’ll be in touch. Perhaps one day Rick and I will pay you a visit.”
“I would like that very much.” Ardeth paused briefly, lowering his eyes, then fixed them on Evy again and asked, “Forgive me, but I could not help but notice your ring. Are you and O’Connell…”
“Yes,” Evy said, her sheepish smile of moments before returning. “Mabrouk!” Ardeth exclaimed with the widest smile she’d yet seen on his face. “That is wonderful. I wish the two of you every happiness. When are you to marry?”
“A month from today.” Evy was practically bouncing in her chair now, her efforts to suppress her giddiness clearly failing. Was it really so close? “Rick had a suit fitting this morning. He’ll be in a meeting with the staff at the reception venue now.”
“I see. I will have to remember to congratulate him when he returns.” An idea occurred to Evy, but she hesitated to share it, wondering if she would be overstepping the boundaries of their newly established friendship. No, she decided, it was a perfectly reasonable thing for one friend to ask another.
“I was thinking…our guest list is very small, and if your duties don’t require you to be elsewhere, I’m sure we’d both love for you to attend.” Now, for the first time, it was Ardeth who eyed her with a bewildered expression. Evy tapped her fingers on the table as she waited for his response, fearing that her request had indeed been inappropriate. But when he spoke, her fears quickly dissipated. “One can never predict when the services of the Medjai will be required, but I will attend, In sha'Allah.” “Wonderful.” Perhaps Ardeth simply wasn’t accustomed to being invited to weddings. The thought saddened Evy a little, but not enough to dampen her joy that he’d accepted her invitation. “I promise to stay out of trouble in the meantime.” “I am sure you will.” Evy caught another glimpse of that uncharacteristic twinkle in the Medjai’s eye as he added, “I will try to do the same, but I make no promises.”
They laughed like a couple of schoolchildren until Evy raised a finger to her lips and playfully hissed “Shhh!” as if suddenly remembering they were in a library. Ardeth bit his lower lip to suppress another laugh, but grinned from ear to ear as they rose from the table to rejoin the other Medjai.

"Don't cover your face, I want to see you." Ardeth/Rick/Evy if you please!
Um... this is going behind a cut because it is filthy, yet I don't think you'll mind ;)
Probably will ended up putting on AO3 later!
Ardeth leaned back in the bed, resting on his forearms. His hands fisted the sheets, willing his body to remain still as Evy undid his trousers. He’d ached all evening, through the meal they shared with others in his village, through the pleasantries of socializing afterwards. The O’Connells coming to visit was a reason for celebration with food, drink, and song.
If only the villagers realized the real reason for their arrival, and it had nothing to do with ancient artifacts, ruins, or undead creatures threatening to kill them all.
No, they were here for Ardeth, and Ardeth had been patient, waiting for their arrival. Only now, they were finally alone, in Ardeth’s bedroom. Evy took Ardeth’s cock in hand and stroked him, cooing softly. “It’s been too long,” she murmured. A pink tongue flicked over the head. “I expected you to ravage me the moment we set foot in town.”
He grunted, dragging a hand over his face. “You are worth the wait.” His eyes flicked over to Rick, lounging in the chair in the corner.
Rick reached inside his own pants, fisting himself. Soon it would be Ardeth’s hand, and Ardeth’s mouth, wrapped around that girth. His mouth watered in anticipation, even as Evy’s lips slid down Ardeth’s erection.
“All of us are out of patience,” Rick grunted. “Especially me.”
Ardeth vowed to tend to both of his lovers, ensuring they wanted for nothing while they were in his home and among his people. Yet he couldn’t focus, not when Rick teased him with his actions, and Evy with her sinful mouth. He rocked his hips into Evy, long hair falling into his face. He made no move to fix it, choosing instead to thread a hand into Evy’s hair.
“Don’t cover your face,” Rick said, “I want to see you. All of you.”
Evy arched her back and glanced over at her husband. “Greedy. You’ll get your turn.”
“And then I’ll take care of both of you.” Ardeth sat up, and, because Rick asked, tied his hair into a loose ponytail. “Better?”
With a shit-eating grin, Rick relaxed back into his seat and stroked himself. “Much.”
“Boys,” Evy drawled, “focus. Sex now, talking later.”
Rick chuckled. “You heard the lady.”
Ardeth couldn’t deny Evy or Rick anything. To have them both here was a gift, and he didn’t intend to waste it. Tonight was just the beginning.

Kiss prompt 23 for Ardeth/Marianne, please!
Sorry this took so long, Nonny!
Another morning. Marianne rose early, before the children, for once. Shahira took after her father in waking consistently at dawn. When she bored of following him on his duties, she would often rouse her brother to play and do their chores together. Today they still slept, tousled curly heads tucked together like tiny conspirators. Marianne's heart always swelled to see them, but today it felt as heavy as her feet as she struggled upright and prepared breakfast.
Weeks had passed since the Medjai had discovered cultists exhuming Imhotep's body. Ardeth had followed them to England to prevent them from retrieving the Bracelet of Anubis that would lead them to the hidden domain of the Scorpion King. He had apologised profusely when they parted, but time was of an essence and he could not afford to wait.
Horus had sent directions to the massing Medjai armies in the intervening days, but communication to the settlements had been few. No unearthly army had overwhelmed them, so all could not have been lost; but why had she not had word? 'Soon', she would tell the children when they would ask yet again when their father would return, but day by day her anxiety grew.
The hours passed in the same routine as every day since he'd left. Prospective apocalypse or no, the animals still needed feeding, clothes needed washing and mending, meals needed cooking, little scraped knees needed kissing and little curious minds needed teaching. The world might end, but in the meantime it had to keep spinning as usual.
As the heat of the afternoon began to cool, Marianne sat in the shade, rereading the precious handwritten volume of her husband's poems. Nominally, at least; between her nerves and her swollen legs, she found it difficult to focus on the words.
"Mama, I drew a map of the camp for Baba to use when he gets back. Do you like it?"
Marianne snapped out of her moody reverie. "It is excellent as always. Such a clever girl you are, my darling."
"Are you all right, Mama? You're spinning your ring again."
Marianne stopped, now guiltily aware that her daughter had noticed her nervous habit. She really did take after her father; nothing escaped his keen eyes and instincts.
"Yes ma petite, I am fine. I am just missing your Baba."
"Do you think he will come back today?"
"Maybe," Marianne said, with a smile she hoped was convincing.
A shout went up from outside. A dust cloud on the horizon had revealed riders inbound. The camp sprang into action to prepare to counter intruders or welcome guests, and Marianne's heart lodged in her throat, half hope and half fear. The approaching convoy hailed; their warriors had returned. Marianne grasped the children's hands and tried to radiate more calm and composure than she had left. Riders dismounted and families swarmed forth to embrace loved ones and secure horses. Every second seemed to stretch into hours.
The children all but vibrated with excitement now. 'Where is Baba? I don't see him.'
'There,' Marianne answered at last, fighting to keep the sob out of her voice. The children needed no prompting to let go of her hands and sprint to the man whose eyes stopped searching as soon as they found hers. Marianne herself moved forward as though drawn by an invisible cord.
'BABA!' Shahira shouted, and Ardeth stooped down to gather her into his arms with a wide smile. Ramy followed just behind, piling into the hug with all his might.
'Baba, look, I lost a tooth here while you were gone, and I showed Ramy how to do the thing you showed me with the sword and - '
'It's not a sword, it's a stick,' Ramy corrected her. Ramy's meticulous nature combined with the contrarian tendencies of a three-year-old to make him as pedantic as an amateur research librarian.
'It's my practice sword! Anyway, Mama's letting me hold her knife sometimes now.' Shahira and Ramy regaled Ardeth with a meandering account of everything they had done since he saw them last. A shadow crossed over them, and Ardeth looked up into the dearest eyes in all the world, tears hovering on dark lashes.
'Maryam...light of my eyes, breath of my lungs, blood of my heart,' he said as he rose to his feet, 'how is it that you have grown even more beautiful than I remembered?'
Marianne reached up to hold his face in her hands as though committing it to memory, although there was no angle, no line, no hair of it she did not know by heart. 'Just grown, I think,' she laughed, but she couldn't hold back the tears any longer, dropping onto her swollen belly.
Ardeth pressed a warm hand onto the telltale bump and felt a soft kick in response. 'And you, little one: have you waited for me? I thought you might have come by now. Do not wait much longer: your mother and I are so very eager to meet you.'
'You're all right? The world is safe?'
'I am well now that I am home,' he reassured her as Ramy and Shahira clung to his legs. 'The world is safe. The world is right here.
'I missed you,' Marianne choked with relief.
He kissed her, soft and deep, until her tears dried, and showed her just how much he'd missed her, too.

Summary: The one where she was hurt.
Tumblr media
She woke up with a throbbing head, feeling her mouth dry. She looked around, and after a few seconds, she realised she was in the bedroom she shared with her husband. She tried to sit up, but suddenly stabbing pain rose in her arm, making her fall onto the bed breathlessly. She tried to recall what happened, moving her hand to a place that hurt and found a bandage under her fingers. A few days ago, Ardeth and a few of his trusted men went to check on some illegal digging. Not long after it, some travellers came into their village. With one of her best friends and great warrior, Rashid, she kept an eye on them. She provided them with the help they needed and did everything to keep as much information about Medjai secret. All at once, everything went south. They took out the guns, screaming to prepare all the goods for them. She tried to talk them out, to calm the situation, but it didn't help - soon, one of them kept his gun to the head of a local girl. The chieftess' heart stopped in her chest when she tried to take her place. What the attackers didn't know, they chose the worst time they only could. By the corner of her eye, she noticed Fahran - the right-hand man of Ardeth, and that meant that they all were back. He quickly took the attacker's attention to himself as she jumped to help the girl. She hit him in the nose and took the girl in her arms, shielding her with her body. She moved them to leave this place when her eyes met the well-known irises of her husband. She smiled softly, knowing that now everything should be better. However, fate had different plans. A loud bang was heard, just like the scream of the girl next to her. She felt a burning sensation at the top of her chest. She looked down and saw the red stain start showing on her chest. The last thing she heard before she fell on the floor was Ardeth screaming her name.
She tried to move, trying to sit against the headboard. Her tired mind noticed movement by the door, and she moved her head to the side. She looked at Farhan, who smiled at her and then shouted for his chief in Arabic. Not even a minute later, Ardeth came into the room and fell on his knees by the bed.
"Ya Hayati*. You're awake!" He gently caressed the side of her head, and she closed her eyes at this reassuring gesture. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired… And my arm hurts." She looked up at him and noticed how worried he was. She smiled when he moved the hair away from her face and kissed her forehead.
"Would you like to drink something?" At her nod, he stood up. He leaned over her, carefully wrapping his arms around her and helped her to sit. He tried to gently support her body, but a quiet groan left her lips nonetheless. He mumbled an apology, kissing the side of her head while she caressed his back. He brought a cup to her lips, and she gratefully drank its contents. She immediately recognized the taste of the tea that women in the village made to get rid of pain, and she was grateful to have it now. When she had enough, Ardeth whipped the drops that fell on her chin.
"How is that girl? Was someone hurt?" She was watching him when he placed the cup on the cupboard and sat next to her.
"She is alright." Ardeth took her hand in his and squeezed it. "A little shaken up, but nothing happened to her. Rashid already checked on her twice." He chuckled softly, and she couldn't stop smiling forming on her lips. "Aziz got himself a black eye, but no one was injured. Except for you."
"Twice? He must be bewitched by her." She bit her lip, mindlessly starting caressing the back of his hand with her thumb. "I feel like she was in danger because of me… I should do more to stop them, to make them go away much faster."
"Ya Hayati, you did nothing wrong. You gave them the help they needed, and they used your good heart. You made sure that our people could run when they took guns. You shielded this girl with your own body. It was not your fault." Ardeth brought her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. She looked into his eyes and nodded, trying to believe in his words. "You scared me terribly…"
"I'm sorry, ya Amar*. I'd promise it won't happen again, but it probably would be a lie." She smiled sadly, squeezing his hand. "I was so relieved when I saw Farhan and you."
"I'll keep you safe. This time I won't fail."
"Ardeth Bay, you never failed me. And I would argue more about it, but I'm too tired right now." He couldn't help but chuckle. "Would you lay with me? I missed you."
Her one look was enough for him to agree. He knew he should check if the whole situation were cared for. He should go and tell their friends and family that she was awake and only needed a lot of rest. But even the thought of leaving her alone was too much right now. He helped her move a little on the bed and lay down. Her every hiss of pain went straight to his heart. With his help, she found a comfortable position that allowed her to snuggle into his side. He placed a few kisses on her head until she looked up.
"You know that you can kiss me? I mean a proper kiss."
They exchanged lovesick smiles, so similar to these at their wedding. Ardeth placed his hand against the side of her head, caressing her cheek with his thumb. He leaned his head, gently tucking her nose with his. He  knew how impatient she was for his touch, and he smirked when she tried to catch his lips with hers. He kissed so lightly the corner of her lips, and at her disgruntled grunt, he finally kissed her. He kissed her slowly but deeply. He cherished that she was by his side after these few days and that she was alive. He perfectly knew that if this bullet hit her a little lower, he could lose her, lose part of himself. It was all that mattered, they were together, and he promised himself he would double his efforts to keep her safe.

I’m looking for a fanfic that I read a few months to a year ago and for the life of me I cannot find it again. Please help, I have looked everywhere!
I remember the main pairing was Ardeth/OC and one of the things that sticks out in my memory was that She was supposed to fight something evil. And during the car chase in the first movie where they were being attacked by the plague people She jumped/fell out of the car to fight a giant evil snake that embodied chaos
Any help is appreciated!!!🙏🙏🙏
