I love and hate how the fandom characterized (arcane) Jayce and Viktor cause they’re canonically like
Viktor: Jayce is an amazing scientists, his creative and genius mind intrigues and I am thankful that I have met him, that I am able to work with him, as his incredible dream and lives work has allowed me to work towards bettering the future and securing my legacy. My recent diagnosis has worsened my unhealthy obsession with work but such is the price I have to pay for evolution, to help the people in need . I expected more support from my partner, but I will continue this path on my own if I have to.
Jayce: Viktor is brilliant, an amazing scholar and has saved my life, believing in me when I had nobody else. His intelligence and intellect amaze and he’s understood me intellectually like no one ever else did. I have been forced by the council to play into politics and secure our research funding, although I don’t care for their trades and want to continue my lives work, devoted to helping people. However as I now am hold to a different standard, I find myself not in control of what I stand for and it pains me that I can’t be of more help for my partner.
And the fandom somehow interpreted this as

Okay so it was somewhere around when everything started going downhill and he started building his own community.
You always hoped for something better than what you have seen till now but you knew that the other world would never accept someone from the underworld.
So when you got to know about him starting something knew, you knew this was your chance to new life, a better life.
You went straight upto him and asked to join, he was suspicious plus very doubtful how you'll be of any use to him in the initial stage considering there will be tons of fighting and he already has faced enough partings with the loved ones he cannot afford to witness more.
He was pretty straight forward and asked you to leave and be among the ones who were being sheltered by ekko's gang. But you knew that he was judging the book by it's cover so you CHALLENGED HIM in front of everyone in one on one combat.
The shock was clear on his and everyone else's face. Which you absolutely loved and were used to of by now.
He was reluctant but he still agreed. The moment fight started he realised he made a mistake. 1 min in and you were in top of him with him laying on his stomach on floor. And arms tangled so that if he tried to get free, they'll probably break or dislocate.
THAT is when he was impressed but as you both spent more time together and he saw how you values each life and doesn't matter whose.
And that is how, before he can even realise he was absolutely in love with you.

- you remind her of her sister at times, especially because of how good you are when it comes to inventing things. most times when she comes home and catches you making a little trinket at your work desk, she’ll sit close by with a soft smile as she watches you work.
- she doesn’t contribute much when it comes to ideas, but she’ll listen to what you have in mind and comment on it if you want, though she mostly just lets you go on and on about whatever it is you planned on making with nothing but a smile on her face.
JINX
- you guys have little invention contests sometimes. to see who can make the biggest, smallest, cutest, or wackiest creation and by the end of it you’re both laying in a pile of junk as you laughed your heads off, later going on to talk about random things.
- the two of you can talk up a storm about what you think you should make next. jinx likes helping you out when you’re creating something or likes it when you help her out, plus it gives her a reason to be closer to you while she works.
- when you’re working on something, she likes to lay on your lap or sit in your lap because she never wants to leave your side and when she’s working, she tends to call you over to either sit beside her or on her lap for the same reason and since it helps clear her head most times.
EKKO
- he likes your input on things and loves helping you out if you ever need it. if you think it’d look better a certain way or work better if certain parts were added or removed, he’s quick to listen.
- he usually doesn’t hide his work from you even while it’s still a work in progress, but if it’s meant to be a gift to you, he’s hiding it as best he can—listening for when you come home, wake up, or even walk down the hallway. sometimes the surprise is ruined though.
- like with jinx, the two of you share ideas about things you’d want to invent or things that crossed your minds. these conversations usually spur when one of you glances up at the assortment of gadgets on the shelves or one of your hoverboards are broken.

As much as I want to see Viktor thrive and be healthy, I am immensely thankful that after the time skip he’s looking 0.02 sec away from death.
