Just wanted to come out here and post the parallels between Aoyama and Midoriya’s names, because as everyone knows, names in MHA are always deliberate
MHA manga spoilers
Midoriya’s name translates to “green valley” while Aoyama’s to “blue mountain.”
On the surface this seems insignificant, until you look at the symbolism of their names.
A mountain is often symbolic of danger, while in Chinese symbolism, the valley represents yin while a mountain represents yang.
So the mountain in Aoyama’s name was more likely than not an allusion to Aoyama being the traitor, while Midoriya being valley showing that they directly parallel each other yet are opposites.
As for the symbolism in the colours, green is used to represent new beginnings and growth, while blue can represent loss. Which I find very interesting, as I believe this pertains to how receiving a quirk affected each of them. For Midoriya, receiving OFA allowed him to achieve his dream and become a hero, while growing as a person. However for Aoyama, receiving his quirk from AFO was more of a loss and resulted in him being thrown off the deep end.
Anyways that’s it, I thought this was cool but I seriously haven’t seen a single person bring this up which is insane to me because they parallel each other I no every way and it’s wild to me how much ppl ignore him
