people rightly criticize how team 7 reacted to sasuke's pursuit of justice for his clan, but one thing i feel is always overlooked in these discussions is how sakura literally is not granted the option by the narrative to learn about what sasuke has been through — not in the way that naruto, kakashi, or even team taka are. throughout all of part 2, she is operating under the assumption that sasuke killed itachi and then turned on the village for no apparent reason.
in part 1, she offers to help sasuke with his plan to kill itachi and even says she'll come with him so he won't have to handle a clearly dangerous and unstable sannin alone. she tells him she wishes he would be more open with her because she wants to understand what he's going through. (all of this stands in stark contrast to naruto, who says he'll break every bone in sasuke's body to bring him back, or kakashi, who projects his own traumas on to sasuke.) then in part 2, she can't bring herself to hurt him despite ample opportunity and even though (as far as she knows) he's become a violent criminal. throughout the series, she's averse to inflicting harm on others (aside from the punching naruto gag). is it really so unreasonable to imagine that if she knew sasuke was avenging the state-sponsored genocide of his clan, she would respond differently? with more empathy and compassion for his circumstances, and anger of her own towards konoha?

it’s very funny to me that dnp are now perfectly comfortable saying ph*n while phannies are doing everything in our power to scrub the word ph*n from existence despite it being our foundation.
what do you mean ph*n is in the word phannie?? no it isn’t?? there are literally no letters in common?? you’re delusional??
ph*n?? you mean dnp?? the only term we have ever used to refer to dan and phil collectively?? how do you even get ph*n from dan and phil like those names together are dil and dil ALREADY EXISTS, IDIOT!! HE’S A SIMS CHARACTER!! WE CANT HAVE TWO DILS ARE YOU MAD??
phandom?? wh- actually no we can’t run from that one. that’s us, present and accounted for, your honour 🫡

action items white people can consider to make fandom spaces more inclusive for bipoc:
rec/kudos/comment on fanworks made by poc
consider what roles characters of color take in your own work. do black and brown characters exist solely as emotional support for central white characters? are black and brown characters sidelined for white character arcs? do black and brown characters appear solely to Talk About Racism (aka be the Magical or moralizing force for a narrative)?
(consider: Not Doing That)
reflect on whose voices get centralized/prioritized in any given narrative
listen to poc who express discomfort/frustration/critique of the text or fanon without feeling the need to defend either (or recognize you don't need to insert yourself into some conversations)
conversations around racism in fan spaces almost always get derailed into debates about ships or The Literal Text, but in my experience some of the most alienating aspects of fandom are the subtle ways that white people signal us as "other," i.e. acting as though race and queerness are distinct categories (there are queer bipoc! we invented a lot of queer culture!), framing nonwhite characters as unrelatable or undesirable, and reproducing stereotypes in fanon narratives. these become exhausting to encounter, whether or not we're part of the larger fandom ecosystem, and because it's systemic, it becomes impossible to avoid. which means white people's escapism corner is another site that poc have to navigate very, very carefully.

Kinda interesting to think about how even though TMNT 2003 wasn't exactly lacking for romance, none of the romantic subplots involved any of the turtles.
The closest we ever got to romance with one of the turtles was Don's one-sided crush on April and that was never going to go anywhere between her being 7-8 years older than him and her ultimately ending up with Casey.

Captain Kathryn Janeway as a Brilliant Tactician, part 1, 2, 3 (version 1) (version 2)
Star Trek Voyager, 7x10 -Flesh and Blood II (version 1)
Hirogen ships wildly outclassed Voyager and the first time Voyager seriously went up against the Hirogen, the crew lost control of the ship and they were forced to participate in various Hirogen hunting games.
The crew barely took back Voyager and Janeway had to give Hirogen the Hologram tech to get them off her ship.
And then in season 7, after the EMH Doctor betrayed Voyager and thoroughly sabotaged the ship. The Engine room was a mess and the only reason Voyager didn't explode is because B'Elanna reinforced the Warp core. And then the holograms kidnap B'Elanna.
Voyager, battered and limping was on a mission to retrieve their two lost crew members. So Janeway decided to use the Hirogen's hunting skill for their benefit and had the best tactic to deal with the Hirogen while Voyager was in no condition for a firefight.
And despite limping all the way while tailing the Hirogen ships, in the end Voyager fought against two Hirogen ships and won.

I would like to see Ed and Frenchie besties era in season two like: in episode five when Ed comes out all upset, Frenchie immediately gets it and commiserates; we know both of them are so incredibly smart and have a wealth of ideas for wreaking havoc upon rich people; Frenchie helps Ed with his musical performance in episode ten, suggesting that they spent time writing and practicing the music beforehand. Ed keeps Frenchie around presumably for his sewing skills but also Frenchie has seen Ed in vulnerable moments and met him with no judgment and I think there is an excellent opportunity for Ed and Frenchie to team up and run fuckeries together and enter their besties era
