i'm absolutely ADDICTED to painting these little 4x5" colour studies from Call Me By Your Name ♡
each of these took 2-3 hours... blue primer, sketch it out and whack the paint on. I've loved doing these, such a pretty film and so much fun to paint :D

i've posted this before but i'm gonna post it again because i cannot stop thinking about this andré aciman quote in relation to aziraphale and crowley:
"... not to give what I was dying to give him at whatever price was perhaps the greatest crime I might ever commit in my life. I desperately wanted to give him something. By contrast, taking seemed so bland, so facile, so mechanical."

it reminded me of this sequence in particular but just of their dynamic in general, too. they both just want to give and give and give to one another and it makes me feel a little bit ill

You are the only person I'd like to say goodbye to when I die, because only then will this thing I call my life make any sense. And if I should hear that you died, my life as I know it, the me who is speaking with you now, will cease to exist.

Guys, you all remember Call Me By Your Name?
The movie based on the book by the same name, written by Andre Aciman.
I saw the movie a few years back and I don't think I've moved on from it. I think that's the closest I ever got to feeling "love". So, here's a little something...

Call me by your name
somewhere in northern italy in the mid 80s i chose the best person i'd known the light of my eyes and the light of my world "who is not written for one instrument alone" you spoke, you told me i knew more than anyone else you'd met in the town words were our most powerful weapon i could listen to you speak all day long an inexhaustible source of power and magic something so beautiful and something so tragic for was "it better to speak or to die?" i still dont know but i couldn't stand that silence anymore now you've left me alone when i needed you the most... the weapons have turned into rust my words, so futile as if they're lost in the dust now i don't wanna feel something i obviously did, i wanna feel nothing so i don't feel anything but i know i had never felt more freer or safer with anyone before a part of me is now yours forevermore but there's nothing i can do to patch my heart or to make you stay to make you come back from the train that left for Rome, the train that left me stranded alone nothing had changed, nothing was the same it is just you left after you came you stepped out of the car into my life all i wanted was your gaze for a while but as you sat in the train and waved the last good bye i realised it was the last time you were mine the last night with us together the last night with you as my Elio and I as your Oliver still wondering why we wasted so many days because we happened to have everything but time so just once more, please... call me by your name and i'll call you by mine.

Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer as Elio Perlman and Oliver in Call Me By Your Name (2017)
★★★★★
“Elio is incredibly smart. He reads non-stop, and seems to know facts about everything, especially classical music. Yet in other ways he’s still a young adult figuring out the ways of the world. A natural introvert, Elio often feels clumsy and self-conscious. He constantly worries that he’s trying way too hard. Though he can be a little petulant or immature at times, for the most part Elio is a deeply sensitive soul who longs to experience the kind of passion he’s mostly just read about in books.”
-
“Oliver has the breezy self-assurance of someone who knows how magnetic he is to be around. Though he’s deeply intellectual, Oliver comes across more as a sporty golden boy than a bookish nerd. He’s handsome, smart, and endlessly flirtatious. He can be a little immature at times, particularly when he gives into his romantic impulses. Yet beneath his carefree, almost flippant exterior, Oliver has a sensitive soul longing to find its equal.”
