“You want to be people? Let’s be people.”
“Yeah, let’s be them for awhile.”
"If I could have him like this in my dreams every night of my life, I'd stake my entire life on dreams and be done with the rest." - André Aciman, Call Me By Your Name

& finally, I asked one of my best friends (who is incredibly eloquent and writes amazing book reviews on instagram, please check it out here!!!) for her spoiler-free review and this is what she said:
“Bones and All” is a sweeping, soaring epic of a cannibal horror film, with some more complicated underlying themes of parental abandonment, being ostracized by your peers, and first love. I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a “romance” movie, even though there are definitely the elements there. I think it’s more of a companionship of circumstance, where Maren (Taylor Russell) happens upon Lee (Timothée Chalamet) and is instantly drawn to him because of their shared, very niche common interest in… well, people. If you know what I mean. There are more like Maren and Lee than you would think, but still they hide in the shadows and wander from town to town, never settling or staying with one person. Which, in that case, makes our main couple to be out of the norm. This is what sets Maren and Lee apart, two lovers on a journey of self-discovery among chaotic, unhinged bloody destruction.
The term “bones and all” refers to the cannibalistic nature of the film of course, but, to me, it represents the work put into the film as well. You can’t just walk away from a project like that—it’s palpable how invested the cast and crew were to produce something like this. It has Luca Guadagnino’s trademark of beautiful, haunting cinematography, the precise attention to detail, the 1980s setting even. But the actors especially gave their all in these performances. Mark Rylance is perhaps the most disturbing antagonist that has crept the screen in a very long time. You will never forget his turn in this one.
This story is not for the faint of heart, not only in visuals, but in context and dialogue. Don’t go into it expecting a romantic movie with dark themes—it is much more complex than that. And graphic. Very graphic."
hope this is helpful!! sending love xo ♡♡ .. & just a reminder - make sure you filter out the bones & all spoilers tag!!
