Blue Lock Thoughts(tm) Post
So I read Blue Lock up to the U-20 match and let me just say that having a lot of thoughts about it is an understatement. These are not Smart(tm) thoughts at all, just me screaming into the void. I'll mostly be talking abt third selection up to U-20 match so spoilers for up to ch 148!!
Chigiri and Kunigami
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY SHIP... The third selection truly made them so Spicy. They could've been the dynamic duo that perseveres together all the way through the selection, but they got separated and Kunigami didn't even make it PAST the third selection, at least, not in the normal way. I was upset at the reveal (I was very embarrassingly yelling to my friend in voice chat while reading) because I missed their banter. But now that I think about it, we now have the knight/hero rising up from the ashes to meet his princess again and I'm now so glad this was the outcome. As my friend so eloquently put it, it's super cool that Blue Lock isn't afraid to separate their duos. Which brings me to the next duo...
2. Reo and Nagi
Reo's separation from Nagi is honestly the best thing to happen to both of their characters. Reo didn't really interest me as a character until Nagi left him and he was all gunning for revenge. I thought they were going for some sort of villain arc with him, but what they did was SO much better. Yes, Reo was understandably bitter for some time, but he changed stances and saw it from a different point of view really quickly. We literally watched him go through the 5 stages of grief.
Tumblr media
And then come back stronger after his acceptance. Even finding a crazy ability to call his own.
Tumblr media
And he OWNS it too. That moment when Shidou made fun of him for being a copy-cat, he DOUBLED DOWN ON IT and taunted him for not even being able to beat a copy-cat. Now that's the ultimate power move.
My favorite favorite FAVORITE thing is... he is still a duo with Nagi. They still sync perfectly well. They still know each other the best. Reo turned his spite on its head and came back to Nagi at full force.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What can I say except NAGIREO REAL!!!!! OK next point.
3. Bachira & Isagi
Honestly, I kinda didn't expect Bachira and Isagi to develop almost like a parallel to Nagi and Reo. I love how Bachira is portrayed. He obviously has some mental disorder (I'm guessing ASD or adjacent) and the way it's portrayed as a monster which Bachira eventually hones into his own... At first he just wanted friends, he wanted people who play just like him, to accept him as he is and that was what Isagi was to him. But in the end having others accepting him wasn't enough. He had to accept HIMSELF, his monster. And because of that he came in SEVENTH after the third selection!!!
Honestly, it was one of the most satisfying character development moments.
Tumblr media
And again, after that, his and Isagi's duo play just comes out stronger.
Tumblr media
Just Dynamic Duo Things.
3. Barou and Rin
I put these two together because they feel like the ultimate sports trope subversion. It's almost BLASPHEMOUS how they essentially become the egotistical "villains" of the field.
Tumblr media
I love Barou as a character too, he is SO GAP MOE. Who would've thought that he was a malewife that was obsessed with keeping things neat? I want to destroy his ass. Ahem.
Anyway, Rin. He literally went fucking BONKERS at the idea that he has a team behind him. HE WANTS IT ALL TO HIMSELF.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS SHIT WOULD LITERALLY NEVER FLY IN A NORMAL SPORTS STORY. Which brings me to my favorite thing about Blue Lock
4. It is simultaneously a love letter AND a blasphemy to the sports genre.
I had a Kuroko no Basket phase years ago and I KNOW a KnB inspired story when I see one. Of course there's references and concepts that Blue Lock obviously borrowed from KnB. I could easily list all of them like the concept of "Flow" that is totally not KnB's "zone", the copy guy, the "emperor style", Aryuu Juubei who is totally not a homage to Murasakibara... References and concepts are easy to insert into any story. The important part is the Utter Unhingedness. They took KnB's barely believable superpowers and high school drama and all these high stakes that are totally just made up in the characters heads... and turned it up to 11.
KnB was a level of "skirting the boundary of what's humanly possible" that is still acceptable. Yeah, people thought it was insane and were laughing about it, but it didn't really have "haters". It's still just regular sports. But Blue Lock said fuck that, they're going to be straight up CONTROVERSIAL. There's no point if it doesn't have passionate haters. This isn't sports as you know it. And I respect that so much honestly. (If you've been on anitwt recently, you'll know that fans of conventional sports stories DESPISE Blue Lock).
I think with the sports genre becoming this Big Thing(tm) and the market somewhat becoming saturated over the years, this kind of blasphemy is exactly what the genre needs right now.
Speaking of blasphemy...
5. Itoshi Sae vs. Itoshi Rin
I love the whole angel vs demon thing going on with them. I love Sae's beautiful perfection and Rin's feral animal-like approach
Tumblr media
(short digression, as a STEM major nerd I fucking LOVE the numbers in the visualization of Sae's abilities. I'm betting that it's the golden ratio because you won't get a number more perfect anywhere else!!)
I love their entire silent sequence against each other. No dialogue, no SFX. They were silently communicating with their bodies and with their eyes the way only brothers could. In a way, this is brotherly bonding :D
Tumblr media
I love that Rin, and the Blue Lock team, is painted as the "villains" of the sports scene. And they won against U-20, the "heroes". They changed sports forever.
6. The unseriousness of it all (my lovehate letter to Isagi Yoichi)
In the end this is a manga about SOCCER. The characters take it WAY too seriously because they're dumbasses who literally only have soccer in their brains. It's honestly hilarious at times. But damn, if I'm not invested in this unreal, unserious, BFFR shit!!! Every time Isagi realizes something that is common sense (like when he "discovered" that luck also plays a part in games) I die a little bit inside.
Tumblr media
BOY YOU ARE STUPID AND DRAMATIC AND GAY AND I LOVE YOU. Blue Lock would not be the same if Isagi wasn't the protagonist. If you think about it, every insane visualization of everyone's abilities is how ISAGI sees their abilities. This shit we are seeing, all the puzzle pieces, the fire, the thunder... is all in Isagi's head. And once he gets out of the game, he's literally just an awkward high school boy.
Tumblr media
I guess he can be cute sometimes.
8. (For now) I don't think Blue Lock will end the way Ego says it will. (A love letter to Ego)
Muneyuki Kaneshiro you did it again. If you haven't read his other work, Kamisama no Iutoori and Kamisama no Iutoori ni, please do so. Having read those, I'm half-convinced that he'll pull an Akashi on us and give Isagi a canon love interest by the end AHAHA.
Digression aside, Ego said that by the end, there will be 1 striker to stand above all 299 "corpses" as he so elegantly put it. But I honestly don't think that'd happen. I have no basis for this other than the fact that it would just feel WRONG to end it like that. They wanted the sport to evolve by "creating soccer from zero", playing different positions with the ego of a striker. Honestly, I wouldn't see the point in all that when there's only 1 striker to survive in the end, you feel me?
Ego may have only said that to rile the boys up. He's playing the role of the ultimate "villain" for the boys to conquer. Now that's a very questionable approach to coaching but it sure fucking works!!! I really really love it.
Tumblr media
And he KNOWS his methods are questionable at best, enough to get him banned from the world of soccer forever. He didn't care about himself if it meant these boys will evolve and play the ultimate soccer.
Tumblr media
He really knows how to cultivate the perfect little "villains". Sure, it involved literally isolating them from the outside world in what is the equivalent of Soccer Jail, but you gotta do what you gotta do! :D
Honestly my wishful thinking is they end up with 11 top Blue Lock players (maybe a few more for the bench) and they get to compete internationally or something. Go beyond the scope and scale of regular sports manga... But I guess I'll just have to see what happens next!
OK. Alright. I think I'm done now. If you read this all, thank you for coming to my TED Talk!!!!

► Event: Team members’ message for their leaders
Their good points and areas they should improve on.
Kamio @ AsaShin:  “Though Samatoki is a fierce, aggressive character, Asanuma’s actual voice when he speaks is too cute. This isn’t an area to improve on, but it is extremely gap moe!”
Eiji @ Hayama:  “Where talent and hard work meet. When you performed ‘Sougyaran BAM’ live, it made me think I should practice more. Your singing and your quirks in them are amazing!”
Kijima @ Hayami:  “So cool! I’ll always silently stay by his side, he puts people at ease.  So cool! He accompanies me during my solo practices too. So cool!”
Soma @ Shirai: “A leader who puts his members at ease, extremely reliable. Shirai-san should just continue being the Shirai-san we know. “You are only one”.”
Kengo @ Iwasaki: “Even if our Division leader panics before the live, during the live his performance is amazing.”  “Area to improve on: Though I wish sometimes he would be calmer, that is also part of his charm point. Please go on like this.”
(Subaru is the MC, so he has to read his own message)
Amasaki @ Subaru: “I think everyone already knows how amazing Subaru is, but he’s also such a cheerful, happy and peaceful person, he’s the best! He’s not two-faced, a true nice guy.”  “Area to improve on: Hmm... I don’t think there is, but then there may be; I’m thinking very hard hmm.... Nope, he doesn’t have any. If you really want me to think of one hmm... I’ll tell you after I think of one.”
BONUS:
Tumblr media
The degrees of laughter when Subaru cracked a joke (from right):  The calm Hayami, the boisterous Shirai, the feet in the air almost falling from chair AsaShin.
Tumblr media
Have AsaShin’s surprised pikachu face at being called first
Bonus Bonus: translator comments
Kamio’s: he understands us all, and the fandom. Yes, gap moe to the max for AsaShin’s voice, have you heard him as Leo Tsukinaga?
Eiji’s: agreed, everyone needs to watch Hayama’s live performance, the CHAOTIC ENERGY is unparalleled
Kijima: why do you sound like you’re his son lol
Soma: articulate and to the point as always, elegant, max impact
Kengo: that lowkey diss and balm was so good
Amasaki: nice going on the younger sibling energy lol

Long distance relationships
Characters: Azumane, Kageyama, Sakusa, Shirabu
Category: fluff
Tumblr media
Azumane Asahi
Designer means model, amirite?
You met over a show in Tokyo and he made the piece which won (I don’t know how fashion shows/runways work)
And he was so flustered and just the absolute cutest while giving tons of praises to the model who pulled it off and made the winning possible, AKA you
You kind of fell in love with him over the course of dinner where he got kind of tipsy and became a ball of absolute fluff
I mean: huge man with muscles for days like wow, look at that plain he calls a back + soft-spoken and kind with a truck-load of adorableness + passion for fashion and everyone’s works + fluffy and giggly drunk = perfect gap moe
You confessed first and he accepted, but not before half-fainting
You have to travel around the world as a model, but you try to take a lot of jobs in Japan
Most days of the year are hour long phone calls and video calling and constant photos of everything and everywhere
You got told off by your manager because you grew dark circles because you were up all night talking to Asahi and he got told off by his for calling during work hours
Taking photos of yourself while wearing different clothes so he can make special ones for you
Buys every single magazine you featured in and even made a section in his bookshelf for them
Looks at them whenever he’s stuck or in a slump
Hugs you so tightly when he finally meets with you
Dates are spent walking around the shopping districts of Ginza or Harajuku
People actually recognise you and ask for photos
Spend the day eating lots of delicious food and trying out ridiculous clothing
Kageyama Tobio
Thankfully, you’re incredibly understanding of his constant visits to other countries
“Buy me souvenirs if you feel bad!”
“Okay.”
You should have been more clear and restricting because he bought a trunkload of gifts back, from little charms to designer bags and packaged foods
“Tobio, stop buying things.”
“? Don’t you like them?”
“Yes, I like them, the problem is the amount!”
“Do you… want more?”
“No! I said stop buying!”
Send you photos of the places his team visited but he’s the absolute worst at photography
Every single shot is off-focus or shaky
It kind of looks like ghost photography with how hazy the bystanders’ faces are
Somehow he finds out Ushijima is great at taking pictures and keeps on asking him for help
Doesn’t get better at all, even after months
Ushijima said he doesn’t mind taking them for him but Kageyama thinks it has no meaning unless he’s the one taking it
You share playlists of songs you found recently that might cheer him up while he’s away
Slowly starts to like the same type of music as you and he even finds some to share with you (!!)
You sniffled and said “My boy’s all grown up!” which he replied with “? I was always taller than you.”
Dates when you’re finally together are in the house or somewhere private so you can relax in each other’s presence
Quiet recounts of your times apart until you fall asleep
Sakusa Kiyoomi
Absolutely loathes leaving you to go to another country
You go to the airport to see him off every time and he always spends the entire trip glued to your back
Literally growled once when Atsumu came “too close” because they had to go now
Kisses you goodbye and promises to call you as soon as they land
Majority of his daily recount calls are:
“I hate Atusumu”
“Everyone’s so damn noisy and stupid”
“I wish you’re here with me”
“Make sure you’re healthy and wear a mask”
He’s actually very cute and clingy if he doesn’t have his “daily dose of you”
At least one video call every day, probably during meal times if they match up
Watching a movie/TV show at the same time
In a setting where you’re a seiyuu, he watches every single scene of the characters you voiced to the point where he can recite the lines upon command
His teammates found it odd that he watches anime but once they find out the truth, they start watching it with him and instantly get hooked
Leaves you sweet messages to wake up to and you send him cute ones (depending on the time zone)
He sends you memes even though he doesn’t get them because he knows you’ll find it funny
Surprised him once by coming to a game overseas
Your work took your there for a short while and amazingly, it coincided with a match
Sneakily talked with the managers to get a front-row ticket
He nearly messed up his serve because he saw you in the crowd
But get energised once you beam at him and he’s on 120%
Rushed to you after the match ends and hugged you even if he’s sweaty and sticky
Spend the rest of the day on a date around the city
Shirabu Kenjirou
He works in Tokyo while you travel all over the world as a photographer
He spends his time helping people and you spend your time in nature
Send him plenty of selfies and massive landscapes which take his breath away
He prints all of them out and keeps them in an album for safe-keeping
Picks the one he thinks is the best in each location and pins it to the huge map he has in the living room
When he becomes a doctor and can take some time off, he’s going to spend the entire holiday visiting those places with you
If he isn’t busy, you call him when you’re taking pictures and describe the scene to him so he can visualise it behind closed eyes
Somehow your descriptions create more breathtaking imagery than the actual photos you send him
Some of your photos are on the back of postcards and he buys one of them each
Comfort him in his bad days by talking and singing through the phone
Take him mountain hiking or to lakes to blow off steam, our poor baby needs it
You keep photos of him in a waterproof sealable bag which grows thicker every month
Light teasing banters and “fights” over the phone as one of you fall asleep
Sometimes he won’t disconnect just to hear you breathe which calms him down
You once held an exhibit in Tokyo and he came in his lunch break
The two of you slipped off and enjoyed a filling lunch and a good date

who are your fave female (anime) characters? <3
ooOO YES I LOVE GIRLS AND TALKING ABOUT MEDIA LET’S GO
okay so
akane tsunemori from psycho-pass
akane is well-developed, interesting and engaging as a protagonist, and she’s the sort of person you want to root for. the world of psycho-pass is grim and hopeless, but i wanted to see as much capacity for goodness in it that akane does (which she does without being naïve). i also love her dynamic with kogami; they both make each other more interesting, and you can really see how they’ve rubbed off on each other as the series goes on. i could talk about psycho-pass and it’s characters at length but i will Not right now
nobara kugisaki from jujutsu kaisen
i love most of the girls from jujutsu kaisen, and i’m so glad we finally have a shounen where the girls get to be as diverse and developed as (some of) the boys. but i also love how feral she is; she’s a chaos gremlin and i adore her for it. she’s funny, but her deeper motivations resonate strongly with her character and the actions she takes. i can’t be too sure of my feelings right now, as the show is still running (and i haven’t caught up on the manga), but i think she’s gonna stick with me :’)
riza hawkeye from fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood
riza provides such an interesting perspective in fma:b and she adds even more depth to the experiences of the characters in the show. and on top of that, she’s sharp, clever, and yet still has a warm compassion which she extends to the kids. i just find her so interesting and well-developed, as well as a good foil for other personalities in the show (see: the team she works with dfkljfds). furthermore, i adore her relationship with roy; there’s a bittersweetness to it, and i just! want them! to be happy!
winry rockbell from fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood
and i love that winry’s arc includes her learning that she does contribute! a lot of shounen often have female characters bemoan that they’re not as strong or as helpful as the men, and while that is a concern for winry, the trope is subverted in that winry discovers her strengths lie outside of the fighting. i also love her spunk and the fact that she’s still feminine despite having traditionally “masculine” interests (no contrived Strong Female Characters here, just winry fangirling over automail). she’s so cute i adore her
oliviei armstrong from fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood
okay okay i promise i’ll shut up about fma:b in a bit, but-- i think one of my favourite things about the women in this show is that we see them with a variety of personalities, in a range of positions, and with varying wants and desires. and i love olivei -- i love her strength, her cleverness, her dedication to her subordinates. the narrative doesn’t feel the need to ‘soften’ her with some gap moe moments (something that usually gets on my nerves). she doesn’t need to act ‘feminine’ to show that she cares about her men -- it’s just part of her character. she’s just UGH. i love her.
princess euphemia from code geass
now... there are elements of the “benevolent oppressor” in euphemia given the world she lives in and her place in it, and i’m not 100% sure that code geass addressed it enough. but, similar to the other girls on this list, euphemia made me root for her; her kind-hearted yet spitfire personality made me want to protect her and give her all the good things in life. the show and i have very different viewpoints on that, apparently. i loved that while she’s kind, she has a will to fight, and she doesn’t take things lying down; she knows what she wants to achieve, and she’s going to work towards it regardless of anyone else’s opinion.
emma from the promised neverland
call me basic but i do enjoy the typical shounen protagonist personality (so long as they don’t shout too much), and it’s so nice to see someone other than a early-teens boy stepping into those shoes. but most of all, i love emma’s sheer determination and her kindness. you can tell she really, genuinely cares, and it has an effect on the people around her. but that doesn’t mean she’s above reason, or doesn’t understand the situation she and her family are in; she’s just optimistic, and is willing to do whatever she can to make good on that optimism. i understand that some people might find her frustratingly naïve, but her determination to do and be good resonates with me.
lenalee from d.grayman
she’s my daughter i love her i would do anything to protect her-- lenalee brings a necessary openness to the group that the other main characters lack (allen, please talk about your feelings i’m begging you--) she’s so sweet and so likeable, and she invokes that Protective Instinct (both in me and in lavi). she’s one of the emotional cores of the show, and i just find her so endearing.
haruhi fujioka from ouran high school host club
for a show (and manga) of it’s time, i’m genuinely surprised with how her gender non-conformity is handled? like it could be done better, of course, but i appreciated that she was allowed to be uninterested in feminine presentation without it being mocked. that, and i just remember her being... supremely likeable? or maybe i just think that bc she resembles the girl who was my gay awakening dkljfld

Star sapphire Bette Kane AU???!!
Yes!!!! It’s been on my mind for a while now & I really, really wanna write it ‘cause I think it could be fun. I don’t really. Have a plot. But I do know some of the things I want to happen! I’ve got the love interest down, at least. Not quite who I’d expected it to be, but, like, I’m a sucker for characters that nobody knows anything about.
And it ended up way longer than I first thought, so I’m gonna be putting it under the cut.
Bette has always had a connection to love, this is just an objective fact. Everyone she meets, every team she joins, she always tries to care about them, no matter what
But all the teams she’s on (Titans West & LA) have dissolved, everyone going their separate ways. She still talks to them but she feels kinda disconnected. There’s this overwhelming belief that she’s the second choice, that none of them genuinely care about her, that’s been instilled in her since she was Bat-Girl
So she leaves LA behind her, tries to forget the ghosts of all her dead friends, and moves back to Gotham. It’s home, even if she keeps trying to escape it, because a part of her will always be that little kid in a homemade mask, trying to impress her aunt, her cousin, the entire world to a lonely kid
And she finds that her older cousin Kate is back in Gotham too. They used to be close when they were younger, with Kate acting as a big sister to her at times, but since her teens, they haven’t talked all that much
Bette still wants that connection though. She loves her cousin (she loves all her family, even when that feeling isn’t returned) and since they’re both here, why shouldn’t they spend time together?
Kate always seems to blow her off and never gives a reasonable explanation. It gets to the point where Bette thinks that maybe Kate doesn’t want to spend any time with her, that maybe she’s the second choice once moe
Then she sees Batwoman
Then she knows
This is Bette Kane. She was a child when she discovered the original Bat-Woman’s identity and now she’s an adult, years of training and detective work under her belt, and she doesn’t even need that. She’d recognize Kate Kane anywhere
She’s been meaning to get back into the game anyway. She’d promised herself after LA she wouldn’t but after only a month back in Gotham, she feels that itch. She wants to be jumping from building to building, wants the adrenaline rush that only comes with freefalling off a rooftop. There are many things that Bette Kane loves and being a superhero is definitely one of them
She works as Flamebird alongside Kate and for the chance to spend time with her family, she pretends that Batwoman’s dismissal of her doesn’t bother her. She fixes on a smile and she goes along with the entire Plebe thing, even though she’s been doing this longer, even though she’s a fully capable hero in her own right
She’d take all the little comments, all the judgement in the world, to spend time with somebody she cares about
And in this world, like in so many others, Bette pushes herself until she breaks. Harsh words from her cousin, from somebody she adores, and she goes out into the field an emotional wreck. She should know better at this point but there’s an anger boiling under her skin and she needs some sort of release
She goes out on patrol and she comes across the Hook
She’s angry and she’s desperate to prove herself and that is never a good mix
She’s not so angry anymore when Hook leaves her bleeding out in the streets
She’s not angry at all
She just wants to apologize. She doesn’t think she’s going to make it (blood, there’s so much blood, there shouldn’t be this much blood) and she wants to tell Kate, Bruce, Kathy, Dick, Gar, everyone she’s ever tried to impress, that she’s sorry for being a disappointment
She wants to tell them that she loves them all, so so much. She wants them to know that there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for them
She doesn’t get a chance
But instead of the DEO coming across her almost dead body and using her a bargaining chip, instead of becoming a pawn in a game that nobody told her about, there’s violet light
There’s a voice, soft and kind, and it offers her an escape. It’s a ring and it asks her to accept it, to join its fight, and she says yes. How could she not?
The world fades out in a violet hue and when Bette opens her eyes, she’s no longer on Earth
Zamaron is so different to everything she’s known, the Star Sapphires a whole new ball game, but this is Bette
This is the girl that saved Batman when she was just a kid
This is the girl that was told to quit by her hero and refused
This is the girl that would do anything to spend time with the people she loves
She takes it all in stride. She’s been friends with aliens before, known an interdimensional imp. She can handle this
It helps that Carol Ferris takes her under her wing for training
Carol is everything that her previous trainers were not; kind, helpful, compassionate, caring. There’s no snapping at her if she gets something wrong, no refusal to acknowledge her skills. There’s a certain amount of respect and Bette has never been treated with that
She still doesn’t tell Carol much about her life on Earth. She doesn’t mention being the original Bat-Girl (doesn’t want to hear the overly familiar ‘but wasn’t she a redhead?’), doesn’t mention Kate or Bruce or Dick or the Titans
Out here, in the depths of space, with a ring powered by the love in her heart, she’s allowed to be Bette Kane. There are no expectations, no writing her off because of a dumb mistake in her youth. There’s just Bette, the power of love, and the growing feeling that maybe she can be accepted
And you have to remember, Bette isn’t like Dick. She doesn’t work with the Justice League and she doesn’t know much about the Lanterns outside of vague allusions from Bruce
When she meets Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner, she finds that she likes them. Really, really likes them. Guy isn’t the asshole that Bruce made him out to be and Kyle ━━
Kyle is the exact kind of person that Bette always ends up befriending. It certainly helps that Carol enlists him to help Bette control her abilities
(Because here’s the thing about the furthest ends of the emotional spectrum ━━ they’re dangerous. Rage can rip your mind apart, can change you as a person, can blot out any form of logic. And love, love is so powerful, so overwhelming, and Bette is so full of it. Control sometimes slips away from her and it’s always a battle to keep her head on straight)
So. She’s away from Earth, away from her family, and that should be scary. That should terrify her
But it’s so hard to be afraid when she’s surrounded by people that support her, that lift her up instead of knocking her down
And she knows that Kate and Bruce have only ever had good intentions. She knows that they were just looking out for her, but she’s starting to think that maybe they did more damage than good
On Earth, she was always, always thought of as the dumb kid, the airhead with a crush on Robin
Here, though, on Zamaron, she’s just the latest in a long line of Star Sapphires. She’s known for a mean right hook, the copious amount of sparkles added to her suit and her ability to befriend everything and everyone she comes across
Bette’s a likeable person. This is a fact; look at the teams she’s been on, look at the number of people she’s managed to work with
Bette’s also a lonely person. She puts her whole self forward and she’s never been treated in kind. She’s everybody’s second choice, the cast-offs, the stand-in until they can get someone better
(Maybe that’s not true. Maybe, maybe Bette doesn’t see it, the way Garfield brightens up when she arrives, the way Hank’s anger disappears because she’s making him laugh, the way Kate hugs her like she’s something important)
(But maybe, maybe the years have gone by and nobody has ever said those three little words to her. Maybe she’s spent her life without hearing anyone say ‘I love you’)
(And maybe that affects a person)
With Carol, with the Star Sapphires, with the Green Lanterns she’s slowly starting to befriend, it doesn’t feel like that. She’s not anyone’s consolation prize ━━ she’s a respected member of a powerful force of love
Can you imagine what that’s like? Going from your lowest point, bleeding out with the belief that you’re a failure to everybody you’ve ever loved, to a hero of the cosmos, with violet light sparking off you at every second? Can you imagine the thrill of it?
And flying! Bette has always been an adrenaline junkie, hasn’t bothered to keep it a secret, and this, soaring through the stars, is a high like no other. It’s pure joy and it’s all hers, not the product of someone else, not some false happiness designed to appease the people around her
Bette’s a nice person
A too nice person, some would say
And maybe Carol gets her first glimpse of this when, in a fight against the Sinestro Corp, Bette gets taken, prisoner
She’s a terrible choice, to be honest. Anyone, Yrra, Carol herself, would have been better
Because Bette knows how to make people like her
It’s a talent, really. One that’s been honed since she was a kid desperate for approval and one that might be a little out of practice (because with the ring on her finger, she never needs to pretend to be something she’s not), but it’s always there
You can’t spend years twisting and turning into a different person to please whoever you’re around for such a skill to go away
So Carol gets to see this, and the kindness, and that ability to make friends with anyone, when the rescue mission gets called off
Called off because Bette makes it back to Zamaron, offering Lyssa Drak a kiss on the cheek in thanks
Called off because fear doesn’t do much against a girl shaped by it. Because the machinations of the Sinestro Corp has nothing on the terror induced by the gaps in her memory, the razor-sharp smile she sees in her nightmares, the feeling she got on the edge of death
Called off because once Bette Kane sees somebody she thinks is attractive, she can’t stop herself from flirting
Called off because Bette is used to being friends with villains. Because Bette has forgiven everything Hank Hall has ever done, has rolled her eyes and told Tara Markov that her past doesn’t have to define her. Because she forgives, coming from a place of unending love
That’s not to say that things go perfectly all the time
She gets hurt. Sometimes it’s physically, when a threat is a little too much for to take, even with her training, even with her ring. She’s only human, after all, and humans falter all the time
And sometimes, it’s emotionally. She gets hurt when she goes to Thanagar and sees the face of one of her oldest friends, when she’s struck with the memories of his funeral
She gets hurt when she has to fight Charley Parker
She gets hurt when she feels the love radiating off them both regardless of what side they’re on
She cries for the first time in a long time on that day and she tries to hide on some desolate planet, away from Carol and her kindness, Guy and the way he always understands, Kyle and his calming presence. She wants to feel the hurt, feels like she deserves it (because she failed him, didn’t she? She didn’t look into his death and now one of her closest friends has become one of her greatest enemies)
She wants to be alone to punish herself and maybe if she was still on Earth, if she was with the Bats, that would be allowed. They are, after all, the masters of brooding on their lonesome
But she’s not on Earth. She’s in space, she’s surrounded by people that care about her and all their numerous friends
It’s Hal Jordan that finds her and she thinks there’s something funny about that. Something that would drive Bruce insane and she can’t help the choked back sobs when she thinks of him and his disapproving looks, his petty demands designed to stop her from being a hero, his funeral and the darkness that descended after it
There are plenty of people that know about regret, about feeling like you’ve let down the people closest to you, and the man that launched himself into the sun looking for redemption, who made his time as the spirit of vengeance offering second chances, is one of them
Her life as a Star Sapphire so far from perfect, but it’s better than the one she had on Earth for one simple reason ━━ she’s no longer defined by her past
Or by her future
She hasn’t told them that she was a hero. She knows that Carol suspects (she was, after all, the one that treated Bette’s wounds when she first arrived, the one that saw the Flamebird suit), but she doesn’t know about Bat-Girl. She doesn’t know how to tell any of them about her past
She doesn’t think she can tell them about her future. It looms over her, as it’s always done, this impossible reality where she will die, where she dons a Batwoman costume of her own
She used to want that, to be Batwoman, but the years have gone by and the mantle seems drenched in red. It’s not for Kate, not for the woman that deserves to be Batwoman. No, it’s soaked in blood for the girl that didn’t notice the holes in her aunt’s story
(Or maybe she did. Maybe somebody made her forget)
She’s never wanted to die, but now, when it seems like the universe is finally on her side, the idea is terrifying. She’d accepted it before, on some level, let herself run headfirst into danger because she doesn’t die yet, the future version of her said so, there’s still so much to do before the green of the Lazarus Pits takes her over
That acceptance has been gone for a while
She laughs with fellow Star Sapphires, gets drinks with Guy Gardner, goes flying among the stars with Hal Jordan when it all gets too much. She talks strategy with John Stewart, those years under a master manipulator finally paying off, she rests with Kyle Rayner while he sketches. She spars with Yrra Cynril, feels the rush of adrenaline that comes with the knowledge that this woman could kill her, and she talks about make-up and fashion with Arisia Rrab. She sneaks away somedays for a secret meet-up with a woman that’s supposed to be her enemy, indulges in the destructive nature of Lyssa Drak for just a moment, lets herself be consumed in soft kisses and whispered threats
And in all of those moments, the need to live is a thrumming, living beast within her
She knows she has to go back to Earth at some point, has to face her future head-on, but she doesn’t want to. She doesn’t want to die by an old friend’s hand
She doesn’t want to watch Duela Dent kill her. She doesn’t think that even a Lazarus Pit could really bring her back from that
Bette is afraid. She’s not a Green Lantern; she’s not supposed to be fearless
And really, it’s not her death that she dreads. It’s what comes after it. It’s the glow of a pit, the hollow smiles her future self gave. It’s the emptiness of her eyes
It’s the missing ring on her ring
(She thinks that might explain why her future self seemed to be missing something)
She doesn’t have the words to tell anyone this, though. She’s been taught to keep her fears to herself, lest they ben used against her, and besides
How do you tell the people that you love care about that you’re destined to die?
Bette Kane believes in destiny. She has two friends granted powers by the Lords of Order and Chaos, has seen twisted paths all lead to one final destination. She knows that she’s going to die, going to be thrown in a Lazarus Pit, going to fight against her family
(Her old one, at least. Future Bette never mentioned her new family and she hopes (she prays) that it’s because they’re safe, just far away from Earth)
She’s still Bette Kane, though, and a Bette Kane that’s spent so much time with Green Lanterns, with the champion of love. She learns about stubbornness in the face of an immense threat. She learns about survival through sheer willpower, through the endless power of love
She thinks she might be able to manage it
Bette Kane has always had a connection to love. Her ring works off of it, feeding off and into it, an endless loop that lets her soar among the stars
She’s seen love accomplish the impossible
She doesn’t see why she can’t just use love to stop that future
So she avoids Earth, the place she’s destined to die
It’s not that hard, not like she has to go there often
It’s not like anyone would want her back, anyways. She remembers her final conversation with Kate, remembers all of the times Bruce told her to give it up. She remembers her friends splintered and going their separate ways. She remembers slipping away for a year in between Bat-Girl and Flamebird and remembers nobody even noticing
What reason does she have to think that’s changed?
Which helps her decision to avoid Earth
And she does avoid it. It’s not hard, with all the different aspects of the emotional spectrum breaking out into fights, the Rann/Thanagar tensions, the million and one issues running through the universe
It’s easy to pretend that she isn’t even avoiding it
Until Carol needs her help
Until Carol asks for her help
Until somebody that she loves needs her
Okay, that’s all I have so far... it’s a work in progress. There’s still, like, what’s going on Earthside to work on.
But yeah!!!! This is the BS my brain has been focused on. It makes no sense, it’s bad & I love it.

Summary: The actors of Mankai Company are going to be participating in the well-loved ‘Actor’s Cafe’ event! This year the themes are a little different than last, including a glasses theme…
THIS IS A 10 PART STORY WITH AN EPILOGUE.
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5] [part 6] [part 7] [part 8] [part 9] [part 10]
Epilogue “Happy Valentines”
Tumblr media
Itaru
Ah, so that line is all the people queuing for the other restaurant.
Homare
Now that you mention it, we saw it when we came earlier.
Chikage
From the outside it definitely seems like the type of place that would be all the rage with the young people.
Izumi
.... Huh? One of the staff members is outside.... I think I’ve seen him before.
Kazunari
Eh? Which one? .... OH HIM!? Yea I think so too!
Where have we seen him before, wait umm...... OH! He’s from the beach house!
Tumblr media
Karasuma
Took you a while to remember!
Itaru
Ugh, what a come back.
Kazunari
Ohh~! Lloooonnnnggg timmeee noooo seeee! Swallow boy from the Naughty Boys Crew!
Karasuma
Who you callin’ swallow boy? My name is Karasuma from the Team Naughty☆BOYS troupe!
Sakyo
Team Naughty☆BOYS troupe.... The kids we faced in that etude battle a while back.
Izumi
That’s right. It was when we were helping out with the beach house. We met them on the luxury cruise ship and did that code-breaker play.
Tsumugi
Now that you mention it, I remember Tasuku and Azuma talking about it.
Kasasuma
Hehe, yea we did some research on your little Actor’s Cafe.
Well, seems like we really got you beat this time, good luck catching up to us! You guys are no match for our kabe-don!
Hisoka
.....He’s gone.
Sakyo
That kid’s got some fucking nerve going around and....
Izumi
H-Hey, calm down now, Sakyo...!
Tumblr media
Izumi
Alrighty, you have the ideas for the glasses characters, right?
Sakyo
You remembered, right?
Itaru
Of course. Here are the ideas I have based off of the research I did on everyone’s individual styles.
Tsumugi
A sadistic mad scientist, a committee chairman....
Hisoka
A clumsy boy, an e-boy, an otaku with..... dual personalities.
Homare
Oh I see, there is quite the variety here.
Chikage
So how are we going to assign the roles?
Itaru
Let’s try an etude to see which role fits each person the best.
Chikage
So we are each going to perform an etude to decide the roles?
Izumi
H-Hmm well guess it isn’t a bad idea to try it like this every once in a while.
Sakyo
I do not think this sort of tactic would be effective all the time, however this time it is imperative that we keep our motivation strong.
Itaru
Yea, so let’s do it.
Homare
“A piece of art filled to the brim with Fauvism! Such passion! Such soul! What colour!”
Itaru
Seems kinda like an e-boy but I was imagining something a bit different. Next.
Hisoka
“Fufu.... At least I got my hands on it! The golden corn starch! With this I have everything I need to....”
“After all my long years of research, I can now finish my concoction of my special syrup and merengue to make the finished product.....”
“It’s just like I saw in my dream, the phantom mashmallow!!! HA HA HA HA!”
Itaru
Uhh, maybe not this one. I think that’s more of a patissier than a mad scientist. Next!
Tsumugi
Uhhh, glasses, glasses..... Huh, this is strange. I could have sworn I put them over here.....”
“Huh? My forehead? OH, Ah, they’re here...!”
Itaru
Hmm, not a bad take on the clumsy type, but it also seems like you are just acting as your same old self, Tsumugi. Alright then, next.
Tsumugi
Hey.
Izumi
Everyone’s been trying out a lot of different things...
Itaru
This sucks. There’s not a single person for the glasses otaku character.
Homare
Well who’s etude do you think didn’t quite match the character?
Itaru
Well...
Chikage
Chigasaki’s standards seem a bit too high.
Itaru
No, I don’t think that’s it.
Sakyo
Good grief.... Well if you’re going to take that attitude, how about you fill the role yourself?
Itaru
...... Yes, then I will. So guess I am going to be the glasses otaku character.
Kazunari
Yeah yeah! If you’re gonna be the glasses otaku, I wanna be the committee chairman!
Itaru
I want that guy to be a pretty flashy person, so perhaps I will allow you to try play the character as a smart guy with a sort of ‘gap moe’ style.
Kazunari
Yaapppyyyyy!!
Chikage
Let me get this right, Chigasaki. You’re saying we need to get your approval one by one?
Sakyo
It would take quite a while if we were to do that with every person.
Izumi
You said what you imagined is different than what someone would usually think, so what about Tsumugi’s take on the clumsy boy?
Hisoka
If it’s Tsumugi it seems like it’ll be interesting.
Kazunari
Well I for one thought Aririn’s take on the clumsy boy character was pretty funny~! Sooooooo then how about Arinrin for the clumsy character!?
Homare
Oh, you’re talking about me?
Itaru
I think that sounds good. So, the other etude I found that matched was...
Kazunari
So it’s settled then! I am going to be the committee chairman, Itarun is gonna be the glasses otaku, Hisohiso is the guy who’s personality changes if you take his glasses and~
Itaru
Tsumugi is going to be the e-boy and Homare is going to be the clumsy boy.
Izumi
So with that all decided, all that’s left is..... Sakyo and Chikage. We still need someone for the sadistic glasses character and the mad scientist.
Hisoka
...... Both of them fit those.
Homare
Let’s ask them which character they think would suit them best.
Kazunari
Yeah~!
Tsumugi
What do you two wanna do?
Chikage
I am fine with either.
Itaru
....  Something about the way you’re smiling tells me that you just want to get this over with and call it a day.
Sakyo
And who’s fault do you think that is?
Kazunari
Itarun is pretty particular about the little things~
Itaru
Right, so then I will decide for myself. Sadistic glasses man, definitely you senpai.
Honestly speaking, I don’t think sadistic glasses man is much different from how he usually acts, but to the guests who typically see the nice side of him it will seem like night and day.
Homare
So then, that leaves Sakyo as the mad scientist, right?
Itaru
Yea. He is a character who seems really put together on the outside, but he is actually completely feral on the inside.
Sakyo
Finally we got this settled.
Izumi
Soooooo then, after a lot of thought, we finally got the roles for the Actor’s Cafe, I’m looking forward to working with everyone!
To be contnued...

Opinion on each zanki zero character?
While I’m here, I should also answer this fantastic ask:
Anonymous said: Are the Zanki Zero characters names as stupid as Danganronpa character names? ‘cause one of the characters is named after a type of tractor
I also need to post my feelings on ZZ in general, but so far it’s pretty cool. The characters aren’t really out of their introductory shallow stages yet but they show promise. I don’t care what the haters say, I find Extend TV amusing. The game’s premise is cool, the 3D character models look nice, and the system of exploring new islands that wash up as dungeons to gather resources and get story beats is cool.
This may be the closest thing I get to DanRon Mystery Dungeon.
While I normally don’t like stories where death is impermanent, this seems like it will tackle more the psychological strain of immortality and the goal will be to get your zanki (extra lives) to zero, linking the end/goal of the game to the way it started: with suicide. If so, I’m here for that.
Anyway, my thoughts on the characters.
Minor Spoilers!
Higurashi Haruto - Basic SpikeChun VN protag so far: kinda bland, ahoge, etc. I do like his glasses, though, and the fact he was an editor. That’s a unique detail. Aside from oversleeping once, hasn’t exhibited much slothfulness, unless you count his inability to act when he and Susukino took a ride on the Tentacle Express. As for his suicide attempt (completion?), I suspect that’s true of everyone, not just Higurashi.
How Stupid Is That Name?Low. Higurashi means living hand-to-mouth, which is very on the nose for this situation (also likely a reference to that other VN series…). Haruto, like all the given names in this game, doesn’t have kanji, so it’s a bit tough to assign specific meaning to it. You could write it as 温人, for instance, which would mean “warm person”. Both names are real names, and fairly common at that.
Hirasaka Sachika - All I can say is, thank god she has a side besides “adowable widdle gurl!” because I am not a fan of that. It is cool to have a disabled character though. So far aside from Higurashi being a bit tactless and presumptive, it’s been handled fairly well? Sachika’s clearly extremely intelligent, likely playing everyone (she’s the one who urges everyone to go inside Mashiro Garden Tower), and appears to be the only character who doesn’t age. Since she’s original sin, wouldn’t that make her knowledge? Interesting…
How Stupid Is That Name?Moderately stupid. Hirasaka is a real name, but if it’s written that way, it’s pretty rare. The kanji used are “compare, good, hill” which you could take as comparing how well the others reform and atone for their sins. Sachika is indeed a name, and it could include a bunch of different kanji, including the ones for “happiness” or “knowledge”. Sachika’s name is what I’d consider to be the DR standard level of stupid.
Mikajime Ryou - His design was one of the ones I was the least interested in, but so far he’s been pretty amusing. I hope he doesn’t end up typecast as the “protag’s best buddy” type from DR. Real jealousy explored in a game like this would be pretty dope though.
How Stupid Is That Name?Well, as far as I know, Mikajime is not a real name, so we’re already treading pretty silly waters. The kanji basically come out to read “three flowers tied up” which is fitting the theme. Ryou is a very, very common male name, though if I had to hazard a guess here, I’d say it’s in reference to , which means “quantity” (as in, how much you have in the way of resources, and could feed into the envy theme).
Susukino Rinko - As is often the case with things like this, I like her design but her archetype is one that puts my teeth on edge. Please shake this Yamato Nadeshiko BS please, girl. Also, assign Lust to the beefcake dude, you cowards! I did like that I chose her and Higurashi as my least faves that I’d be cool with killing to complete the cloning mission, and lo!
How Stupid Is That Name?Susuki is the Japanese name for Chinese Silver Grass/Zebra Grass, which is already pretty silly given that she’s a florist. The “no” part means field, so duh on that, but it often gets used in dumb animanga names to stand in for the particle の which will make it a possessive. The reason I bring this up is because susuki is sometimes called “maiden grass” and Susukino’s sin is Lust. While Susukino isn’t a real surname as far as I can tell, it is the name of a neighborhood in Yokohama! Rinko’s a pretty normal lady name with the ko almost always being “child” while the Rin part can be all kinds of stuff, like forest, cold, and interestingly enough, ethics. …it also rhymes with one of the Japanese words for “penis”.
Kubota Zen - I am sad that this guy will likely become the Cursed Character of this game, because I actually find him pretty interesting. It’s always great to have a wild card in the mix, and while he’s being a little too openly Komaeda/Ouma-like in this instigator department, it seems more clearly to come from a distinctly different place than either of them. I dig it.
How Stupid Is That Name?Look at this fucking normal-ass name. Sure, the Ku part of Kubota isn’t the usual one, instead being swapped for the legal version of 9 (…suffering…), and yeah, Kubota is a brand of tractor, and okay, it’s a bit openly ironic to have your Wrath character named Zen, but honestly this is one of the least surprising names here. (It could also be one of the other zens, like the one from nature or something.)
Setouchi Minamo - The only thing stopping me from fully embracing this character as my fave is the fact that Nate likes her best. Design? Fantastic. Lady cop? Hell yes. Speaks in Osaka-ben?! FUCK YEAH. I like that she’s Pride, too, which is considered the worst one of the bunch (aside from knowledge, I guess) since she seems like she’s so…Asahina-like. Setouchi is a fucking cutie and I love her, the end. Pride Month, baby.
How Stupid Is That Name?I swear to god, her last name has to be a reference to the Seto Inland Sea since it’s written in Japanese as 瀬戸内海 and is even colloquially referred to as “Setouchi”. It also just so happens to be located…in Kansai! In fact, it feeds into Osaka Bay and is a major transportation hub around the Kansai region. Minamo is a common girl’s name, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it written with kanji before. I mean I guess the Mi could be “beauty” which might fit the Pride theme? Or you could read it as a pun that means “and everyone else too” or something? The jisho is telling me that it can be an alternate way to read the word for “water surface” which could fit with the theme of being named after a sea.
Ichiyou Mamoru - Right now he’s leaning a bit too hard on the Gonta gap-moe thing, where he’s an intelligent sciencey type who’s also mega buff, but I like the idea of him being actually really anxious underneath his go-with-the-flow exterior. As long as he develops into a more round character, I will like him a lot. Also, he’s tied with Setouchi as hottest character. Not really sure how the Greed thing comes in yet though. Ugh, he should’ve been Lust, SpikeChun, get it together.
How Stupid Is That Name? Not very. Ichiyou means “one leaf” which evokes (in me at least) the idea of an Adonis statue with a single leaf over its groin. Ichiyou is a real surname, and Mamoru is very much a real given name. The most obvious meaning being 守る, “to protect” which in this case can mean his patients or maybe his dragon horde because Greed.
Mashiro Yuma - She is my favorite character right now, because hot damn, do I relate. This game is so fucking diverse for a Japanese game–a disabled girl and a chubby chick?! God, it’s like Togami and Celes had a daughter who was raised by Sagishi and I fucking love her. The Gluttony thing is pretty surface level right now, though I suspect that she’s going to be fairly relevant to the story given how important the Touwa Mashiro Group is in this world. She’s right behind Setouchi and Ichiyou for character I’d be most attracted to irl, cause I like thicc girls. Not a big fan of her fashion sense, but everything else is fucking great.I especially appreciate that she’s not really that spoiled or nasty, either? Like she’s snarky, yeah, but not the full Togami. Anyway I love Mashiro.
How Stupid Is That Name?Mashiro means “pure white” which could refer to a lot of things–being free from sin, being ironically NOT free from sin, etc. Pretty sure Mashiro is a real last name. Yuma is pretty uncommon, though. The kanji that you can use for it often include ones for “freedom” or “friend” or “kind” and so on for the “Yu” part, while the “ma” could be “center” (making her name end the way it begins), “hemp/cannabis”, or “jasmine”. It would be really funny if her given name was written as “freedom cannabis” since it would be like “free to be high”.
Terashima Shou - He’s a boke and I think his unnervingly Tezuka-like art style is kind of fun. I dunno, like I said, I don’t care what you kids think, I love manzai.
How Stupid Is That Name?I need to assume that they intend to write the surname as 照島 (illuminated island) considering the catchphrase and the locale, though I guess you could also interpret it as like “tereru” for “embarrassed”? Shou’s usually written as “soar”, but I suspect that this is just a pun based on the English word “show” (as in, TV show). Might also be a little nod to best friend Genocider.
Mirai - The straightman of the manzai team. I like her too–I think she does a great job of being expressive and her comedic timing is pretty good. She’s also fairly cute, so like Nate said, I wouldn’t mind merch of her.

about kpop obsession
today I wanna update my latest kpop favourite group, biased, otp, and why I love them. yes them. it's not one but many many people getting around. this list not just boys group but the girls group to. 1. INFINITE I am absolutely loyal (maybe not) INSPIRIT. always make Infinite first than the other group and this your gonna be my 5 year being Inspirit. why? why not? they are amazing 7 man that alive in this world. they can sing verywell (maybe need much slot for Sungyeol), they can dance verywell (hail Hoya and Dongwoo) and they can being nasty together. and I love this year gonna they 7 years together and I hope they can always forever till they can't dance and their voice going crack when singing. My Biased: you can look in my pp actualy. yes, the one and only almighty leader Kim Sunggyu. even many fans outside them not think Sunggyu is handsome, for me he is handsome man alive with single eyelid and tall nose. and his voice... don't ask how many time I cry just hear his voice. for me he is perfect. Biased Wrecker: today no one. this my confession. when I know infinite first, I really like Hoya than Sungjong come alive and getting pretty everyday, but than I know how beautiful uri leader are and then baam I love Sunggyu now. OTP: maybe the one unpopular OTP for Inspirit, but I love Hojong than Woogyu and Myungyeol too. why Hojong? I know many Inspirit love Hoya and Dongwoo bromance so much. but for me how Howon care much about his little brother make me aww so much. and why ask about woogyu? you know the reason why! *wink* and myungyeol? just Myungsoo love Sungyeol too much in hilarious reason. 2. Seventeen okay first, I'm not really know who are they. even when they win rookies of the years, I still think "who?". I know Seungcheol being Tempest member with Nu'est JR, than what. and I watch Vernon in TTM too, but just him. so when I watch gayo daejunjae 2015, I watch all perform and still think "why they so many member" and forget it. the turn back time is when I watch them in weekly idol (so greatfull korea have this show so much), and wow they have so hilarious member group. and start looking for their other variety. first watching show was one fine day which turn not really one fine day for them, and lough till cry because of them. than, I watched their debut variety show, lough, cry, and this family make me falling so deep. they so talented, beautiful, and hilarious in the same time. My Biased: have I choose only one? can I choose them all? ok, so I really can choose one. they are so charming with they charm. but I looking so many Woozi pic. why he so squizy? ah yes, his not short, he is in the fun size. I really want hug he and sit him in my tea chair. but don't forget he resemble little devil too. too gap moe, and I love him because he is Lee Jihoon. and being the one leader, composer, good dancer too (ex performance team fyi), don't wanna know how much pressure in his brain. but being the one of talented member in talented group make he look so sparkling, even some time I even can't look him in the stage. Biased Wrecker: oh okay I have a lot in here. You say you don't have biased but have many biased wrecker? first, I call Hong "Joshua" Jisoo. did you watch his hand, oh.my.God oh my God, I really have fetish with hand, and Joshua hand really my type. second, I summon Jeon Wonwoo to come. he is handsome and mysterious(?) when first I watch him. these Mansae btw, and he's look like DBSK U-Know Yunho (am I just the one who tough this when first time look Wonu?). and then his aegyo in V channel change everything. third, nowday Junhui really kill me (bleas Boom Boom MV). his smile... (Junhui plead don't). but his narcistic personal too much for me. fourth, we have The8. Minghoa, you have stop being killer soon kid! I don't know why first Pledis like to change his hair so much. but two latest mv (Boom Boom and Highlite) really kill me. his piercing eyes soo... OTP: I am Jicheol trash. so proudly with this. ok... maybe many Carat's really love Jeongcheol and Soonhoon. but for me Jicheol is legend. they even married guys. and when you know Jihoon verywell, you know he didn't like skinship so much(?) but when you looking their predebut video. "how many skinship you have done with Seungcheol, Lee Jihoon? and you said this doesn't like skinship?" (okay I need to stop) PS: I really love them so much till scared. too much member mean too much brain to being one. and looking for their seniors (I know SJ and EXO before them), is not easy. and being SM stan for dunno many years, it's hurt look your group stan broke one by one. so, I just hope they never change, I know people change but I hope they are not. and stay together till forever (being selfish fan I am). 3. VIXX I love their concept. and being concept-dol not easy at all. because not just new music need to care, but what concept next must think so much. and their existence make they being one of many role model to watch off in kpop history. even sometime I don't really understand Ravi think when make a song (and the coreograph), they still good to know. and personaly, I love their personal so much. when first I know them, thanks for N, they are so not VIXX nowday (I watch Hyde first). but I really like their concept so much. so fresh, so new, so different. okay maybe not, because they debut when the alien debut (EXO and B.A.P). but they change to be good. My Biased: Leo. Jung Taekwoon. SCI: People Don’t Have to Know Our Names, but They Will Know How We Changed the World
SCI: People Don’t Have to Know Our Names, but They Will Know How We Changed the World
After 20 years of experience, Moe Galal, Founder and Chief Executive of Stem Cell Innovations, and Ben Barel, Co-Founder of SCI and Chief Operations Officer hope to usher in the next generation of medicine using stem cells and other advanced technologies and we are interested to discover it how, so we started our conversation.   With their SCI team, they are devoted to the international research, development, and implementation of stem cell therapy. They are also expanding the network with professionals, labs, clinics, hospitals, and nonprofit organizations with an ultimate goal that they all have – to connect people who need treatment with the right dedicated solutions and professionals for their unique needs.   As we talked, Moe and Ben were imagining and describing a world where each and every person, no matter where they come from, will be able to connect with a Stem Cell Specialist instantly through their Stem Cell Innovations application. And in just a few minutes, we were able to see the new world of healthcare as they explained how they will create the future that starts now!     Q: Today you are about to go many steps further with everything your company was doing from founding in 2013., but let’s go back to the beginning – how did you two start this huge Stem Cell project?   SCI: The work we were doing at Camden RAD was important and it laid the groundwork for what we are doing here. We’ve made tremendous progress in taking an idea and turning it into reality. Research and development are vital to what is happening in the medical industry, but our work in Camden unveiled some major flaws in the health care system, particularly around the lack of access to knowledge and education related to stem cell treatments. As time went on, we realized that there was an incredible opportunity to disrupt traditional referral systems and provide more control over how patients access and manage their medical files through the use of blockchain technology.     Q: What was your goal then and what is your goal now?   SCI: The vision of SCI has not changed. Even though it was called something else in 2013, the purpose of the work has always been to ensure that the important work being done to bring about research and development in the area of stem cell treatments is happening and continues to become more robust. We’ve gone in the direction where we can make the most impact while taking advantage of the decentralization of stem cell records so patients have more control over their own information. Marrying the security of blockchain technology with the powerful healing power of stem cells is going to change millions of lives. Our goal is to ensure that people have access to the treatments they need to provide not only longevity of life, but a higher quality of life. Our focus is to raise awareness for stem cell treatments and we want to help everyone understand the potential of stem cell treatments.     Q: So, stem cells can divide and renew themselves. Cord blood banking (also known as stem cell banking) is the process of collecting the cord blood that is found in the umbilical cord and placenta after a baby is delivered and being able to collect and store that blood for future use is a growing trend in medicine. What’s the next important thing you are working on?   SCI: Important discoveries have been made about the nature of embryonic stem cells and we are now able to use adult stem cells that can act like embryonic stem cells. This is of importance to adults who would benefit from undifferentiated stem cells to heal their conditions in a wide range of applications; however, cord blood banking services that will be offered through SCI’s blockchain-based platform will provide parents with the option of healing their children – at any point in life – with the stem cells collected at birth. We are going to provide a way for parents to secure the health of their children now and in the future, with the work, we are doing here.     Q: Years of medical research and inventions could be vested in the new technology is not available to the ones that they need it immediately, so there you go further right into the blockchain. What do you expect to achieve with creating this unique platform that brings together two of the most life-changing innovations of the 21st century: stem cell technology and blockchain technology?   SCI: Our expectations are that the healthcare industry is about to become a lot smaller. We are working hard to ensure that people have access to the life-changing and life-saving treatments they need. Our goal is to provide stem cell treatments to people, regardless of their location, within a matter of days, not weeks. What once took several months to request and arrange for a referral to a stem cell specialist will now take minutes. Imagine being able to gain back weeks and months of your life because you saw the right specialist at the right time, instead of being at the mercy of a system that would have you wait months or even years for treatment. And, of course, in many places, stem cell treatments are not even legal, so people are being denied treatments that could save their lives. We are not just giving people a fighting chance here, but we are giving them their lives back.     Q: This will be developed and operated by dual blockchain platforms – witch ones? Can you tell us more about it?   SCI: Yes, the platform is going to have dual-blockchain technologies. We decided to do this for a number of reasons, but the main reason is the added security we can provide while collected private health information from our users. The first platform is going to be powered by Ethererum, using ERC20 tokens and the second platform is our own custom design. We are using Hyperledger Fabric networks to create the second platform because it offers us the ability to create smart contracts between patients (our users) and stem cell specialists (our network), and this allows us to communicate with other databases that allow us to transfer electronic medical records. Access and usability are all based on the SCIA Token.     Q: How do you see cryptocurrency world from your perspective, and what do you think about the process of launching an ICO?   SCI: Cryptocurrency has unlocked unlimited potential in so many areas for business owners, consumers, and in our case, patients and healthcare professionals. When you sit back and think about the potential applications of such technology, it can become quite overwhelming. We understood that what we wanted to do here was not only a huge undertaking but also a huge responsibility. We knew that closing the gap in the health care system related to stem cell treatments would be a big undertaking, but it is made even more possible with the right technology at our disposal. As far as launching an ICO for this project, it is the most logical way to bring everyone together in what is going to certainly be a group effort. ICOs and cryptocurrency-based companies are defying logic when it comes to disruption – what we thought was disruptive a few years ago is now being overshadowed by some of the projects coming out of the cryptocurrency space. ICOs are not for the faint of heart, but our confidence in our project and the work we can do in the world is rock solid. Cryptocurrency allows the user to engage with our platform in a worry-free environment. We reduce the risks for users and ensure verifiability of the transactions so users can trust their purchases.     Q: What advice would you have for people trying to launch an ICO in the future?   SCI: You really need to know what it is you want to do in the world. So many businesses want to get into the ICO realm because of the potential to earn a lot of money, but so many don’t understand what it takes to take a company in that direction. We did our homework and worked with a lot of experts to ensure that our logic was viable and that our product could actually help people. Our team has been exponential in our success thus far and if you are trying to quickly assemble a team because you want to launch sooner, my advice would be to focus on getting the right people in place. It’s a long road – one that has taken us nearly 5 years to walk. You need to have the right people on your side when you take on something like this and you need to have a product that people need and can relate to in a way that is meaningful for them.     Q: The last but the most important thing is launching the SCIA Token? What will it bring to the people?   SCI: The SCIA Token is going to be the backbone of everything that the SCIApplication offers. The token will allow access to the platform, it will act as currency within the platform to pay for services, storage, and products, and it will provide funding opportunities to research and development initiatives, hospitals, clinics, and more. The token eliminates currency exchange fees and allows you to gain access to specialist consulting through the payment of membership fees using the token.     Q: How many tokens will be available during ICO, and what will be the price per SCIA Token, and when?   SCI: The pre-sale started September 17th and 240 million tokens are available. The price per token is set at $0.15; during the pre-sale, up to 60% of the total amount of tokens will be available.     Q: Let’s say I have a medical problem now. Can you tell me what to do, and please explain how long will I wait for the solution?   SCI: We’ve designed the process to be very simple. If you want to get help for your medical problem, you can log into the SCIApplication and register as a user, you’ll be able to see stem cell specialists around the globe – not just near you. You’ll be able to reach out to the specialists and you could even have a conversation with them if you wanted to do that. There will be a network of specialists available online to answer questions and provide treatment advice. You could have information within minutes of logging into the app. As far as getting the treatment goes, you won’t have to go far or wait long to get it. Within days, you could be receiving your treatment based on your needs. We’ll also be able to recommend a provider for you based on the data you provide to the platform.     Q: When you imagine the SCIA network five years from now, what do you see?   SCI: We are a global network of professionals, but there is a lot of work to be done in gaining the trust of the government and private industry related to stem cell treatments. We are working to break down those barriers and we imagine that we will have been able to convey the importance and impact of stem cell treatments to everyone. We want people to look back and say that they can’t imagine a time before SCI. Our team agrees that people don’t have to know our names, but they will know what we did and how we changed the world. Finally, SCI will be able to ship products to your selected provider for treatments and ongoing care. Users will be able to have access to a custom-designed stem cell based on their unique illness based on health, blood type, allergies, and diagnosis.
