listening to the ut/dt soundtrack while doing work rn has got me wanting to make my own video game, but i have so many responsibilities and also no experience in video game creation at all.
#hate being a student in the month of april bc why do i have applications projects taxes and essays due in the same month#and why have I not finished any of them T_T#also have to take my cat to the vet on top of all of this

♯ 𝐔𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊.
⟣ sypnosis. kento has been extremely busy lately, going on business trips and so forth. he decides to surprise you by coming back earlier than expected. that’s how you end up finding your lover on top of you, showering you in his affection at 3 in the morning.
⟣ tags. nanami kento x female reader. fluff, bit of angst, suggestive towards the end. reader gets called 'sweetheart, angel, dear' wc: 1.8k
⟣ note. okayokay finally an adition to my event heheh ive almost forgotten about it but then i saw this prompt & was like . ok nanami , i must write this rnnn no delaying anymore so here i am :3 its also very bad. i hate it sm LOL i hope u at least like it t_t
kento often asks himself why he had returned to the world he despised — the jujutsu society; his old high school. the sprawling curses everywhere are the main cause of his current misery.
he had been sent out on missions left and right, not catching a break in hopes of reducing any more civilian causalities than necessary. kento had even thought that maybe his previous 9-5 job wasn’t as bad as he had considered it.
overtime was every day for the sorcerer now. that wasn’t the worst thing - no - the fact that he was pratically living a long distant relationship with his beloved irritated him most.
a thought he had in his high school days reoccured in a moment of distress: ‘why not leave all those missions to gojo?’
you were still pretty understanding of his situation. kento appreciated that, though the guilt still ate away at him whenever he tried to sleep. an empty bed welcomed him each time he re-entered his hotel room — you saw the exact same scenery when returning home to your shared apartment.
both of you were adults; both knowing that life was unfair. the two of you being unable to see each other from time to time was a part of your life. kento and you still maintained a healthy relationship. that was all that really mattered in the end.
11:49PM. . . tonight wasn’t unlike any other night; you were preparing yourself to go to bed—changing into your pyjamas after showering, snuggling to a pillow under the covers and texting your lover one last message.
‘good luck on your mission as always! stay safe, i love you.’
you stare at your phone screen for a minute longer than intended. even if you tried to be mature about it — you longed for kento’s warmth and undivided attention. you want him with you, his strong arms holding you to his chest as you rest, his deep voice sending shivers down your spine in the best way possible.
you sigh defeatedly and put your phone down on your nightstand. just two days until you could see your partner again. you can hold onto that hope to keep you calm.
despite you trying to stay positive, you tossed and turned in your bed as you thought about kento’s safety. there was always a chance of him not coming home to you — always the possibility of that bed to be empty for the rest of your life.
all you could do was pray for his safety in your head whilst your eyes eventually closed from fatigue, your mind drifting off to a deep slumber.
03:14AM. . . kento opens the door he had wished to have opened way earlier. the door that lead to the place where his heart lays; the person who claimed his heart and soul for eternity. you.
he didn’t think he’d actually do it. kento had originally planned to finish his last job as soon as possible and then get home afterwards, but there seemed to be a change in routine.
the special grade sorcerer simply assigned the mission to ino — the person whom he could trust most to finish the job in one piece. as much as kento dislikes to put his juniors in possible risky situations, there are also situations where it’s fine to depend on them. besides, the mission could easily be done by a grade one sorcerer.
kento sighs. the familiar scent of your home was one he could recognise from miles away. one that could calm his nerves instantly. it was that same distinctive scent you carry; thus why your lover sometimes calls you his home.
‘i can’t wait to be home’ ‘i want to be home’ ‘i’m going home’ — all these sentences, which kento has uttered before in earlier conversations, weren’t referring to a place. rather to a person he held dear.
“oh, my sweetheart.” the blonde man whispers under his breath as his eyes catch the shape of your figure under the blankets. he quietly enters the master bedroom and closes the door behind him, not making a sound as to not interrupt your well-deserved sleep.
kento slowly undoes his dotted tie, along with the upper buttons of his blouse. he probably needs to go take a good shower before he could settle down with you — but that’d risk waking you up.
you look extremely angelic in his eyes. especially with your left cheek squished by the soft pillow your head rests on. you never once fail to convince him that you are indeed the woman of his dreams; the woman kento ever had and will have eyes for. it’s like you get more attractive to him as the days go on.
“mh,” your sudden and soft groan makes him realise just how disturbing his behaviour could be interpreted as. kento’s body was hovering over your sleeping one and he was just. . . staring at you with a soft smile. a smile which he didn’t even notice had permanently found its place on his weary face.
kento sits down on the edge of the mattress, callused hand gently tucking you in properly, putting the blanket over your shoulders to make sure you didn’t get cold. he can’t rest if you’re not comfortable— even if he himself was exhausted to the point his eyes were starting to feel heavy.
yet that exhaustion doesn’t last long. it never does when kento’s able to see you again after a tiring week of countless missions and other jobs. your presence alone grants him the energy to stay awake and take care of you. and himself. you’re the reason he keeps it going.
“i love you so much, my beautiful girl — my angel.”
kento sure was a romantic. even when you’re unaware and asleep.
he couldn’t help it; the feeling stirring inside of him. the feeling of adoration and love for you. you are simply resting, yet kento felt an urge to kiss you all over, show you the unending love he has for you. but. . that’d probably be disturbing your peace. you are sleeping after all. he
not that that would stop kento.
your eyes flutter open due to a sudden presence hovering over you. your entire face and neck area was feeling ticklish, like someone was placing tens of kisses all over the skin.
strands of blonde hair is the first thing showing up in your blurry vision. kento’s face follows afterwards as his head tilts back up, the warmth against your jawline disappearing along with it —
“ah, i’m sorry.” a low and almost guilty chuckle tumbles out of his sore throat. the visible confusion on your face makes him let out another, “shh, shh, it’s just me, sweetheart.”
your arms flew around kento’s torso the second the realisation dawns upon you. your heart went from a slow pace to one that caused your entire body to warm up immediately; the adorable reaction and increase in heart rate not going unnoticed by your lover.
you wordlessly hug him — almost still in shock by the sudden appearance. kento doesn’t fight off your tight embrace, instead, welcomes it with open arms. the delicate kisses on your skin continue, each being placed with precision whilst one of his hands keeps your head tilted a little — rough fingers being a contrast of the gentle grip they had on your jaw.
“i missed you lots,” kento murmurs, eyes closed as he basks in the warmth of your body, his lips refusing to let go of your neck, “i couldn’t wait anymore. i couldn’t be separated from you any longer or i’d lose it.”
his gruff voice sounded even deeper than it usually would. maybe due to the overuse of it during his missions. the lone thought makes you pout — the thought of kento working super hard just to provide for you both.
“i missed you more, love.” you mumble, bottom lip trembling a little as kento’s hug triggers a whole lot of emotions in you. his hugs were special, his muscular arms giving you a sense of comfort you couldn’t find anywhere. no one could hug you like he did, “you did well. you did so well.”
those were all the words kento needed. his lips come to halt right above your collarbone, his breath a bit heavy from how much he's holding himself back from doing more. one hand moves from your cheek to your waist, fingers toying with the fabric of your shirt.
“thank you, dear.” kento says. his words carrying a load of unending affection. your simple words of appreciation and encouragement makes him shiver in delight. this is what he longed for; this is what he did it all for.
it was clear. the answer to his question - of why he had returned to the jujutsu world, to become a teacher at his former high school - it was all for you. to be able to be with you, see you and hold you like this. to have someone like you appreciate all of his efforts.
“may i?” kento asks through a quiet whisper as he gently removes the blanket covering your figure, his eyes darting down towards your cleavage. he's asking for permission to cross that barrier — to cover you in the love you deserve.
you just stare at the blonde man above you for a second. you watch as he climbs onto the bed with you; the bed which was once empty and dull, now suddenly becoming your favourite place to be at. your fingertips graze against kento's sharp cheekbones. a habit you always did when you were appreciating his looks.
“go right ahead.” you answer with a confirming nod.
both of you were touch starved and had been deprived from each other's embrace for way too long. now was the perfect time to make up for all the time lost.
kento wasn’t going to let the opportunity slip past him. he smiles at you, a gentle and handsome smile, whilst a few of his blonde locks fall over his left eye — his hands already prying away the blanket covering your shape. it was time to show you just how much he has longed for you.
“hold on to me, sweetheart. i’m not stopping until you realise just how much i’ve missed all of you.”

I'M SO TEMPTED AAAAAAAAA,, orz but I can't write anything else until I finish tmdg (and the rest of the fics on my list). But just know that if I do write Floyd spy au, it would naturally have to include these very crucial details and scenes:
✧ hand-to-hand combat training with Floyd and you're one of the only other agents (aside from Jade) who can match Floyd's pace and sporadic fighting style. Exchanging blows is fun, even more so if you manage to give Floyd the ass-kicking of a lifetime. He's lying flat on his back and you're standing over him and he's never been more horny in his life before.
✧ reader finding out that Floyd's father is the head of the mafia they've been investigating on the sly. Perhaps it's one of those scenarios where the mafia has taken something from you or you're on the run from Mr. Leech's debt collectors, so there's lots of angst to be had when you find out Floyd is the son of your enemy. The betrayal is so yummy... orz Floyd being a wolf in sheep's clothing all along. Oh, you thought he was an agent allied under the same cause as you? As if. <3 (or the misunderstanding angst!!!! Floyd trying to tell you that he's different and not like his father, but you won't hear any of it.)
✧ things get particularly perilous during a mission and maybe the enemy has you cornered. You think this is the end, but then Floyd's there, killing them in the most brutal, cold-blooded way. And you don't see his usual goofy, carefree grin or hear his nasally laughter. It's just this blank, dead-eyed stare and the ever-so-subtle curl of his lip as he sneers at the one who dared to threaten his Shrimpy's life. He shrugs off the bloodlust afterwards just to give you a silly smile and say, "Aww, did I scare ya, Shrimpy? My bad."
✧ missions with Floyd as your partner never go to plan, which means you're both often called into Azul's office so he can scold the two of you (although most of his ire is usually directed at Floyd) for "fucking up the mission." And Floyd has such a smart mouth on him, so it drives Azul insane (even though Azul knows what he's getting into when he assigns these missions to Floyd; it's mainly why he has a partner. You're there to keep him in check). T_T
"But we got the stuff you wanted, Azul."
"Yes, but I specifically said it was to be entirely covert."
"But we got the stuff."
"But you weren't covert."
"So what? We got the stuff. Who gives a damn about—" and you're already dragging Floyd out before he can continue bickering with Azul.
✧ Floyd who always gets you into the most dangerous situations during missions and he's always the one who saves you from said situations. Danger just follows him wherever he goes, but he also has a penchant for inciting it.
✧ his code name is "Bind the Heart," but Floyd thinks that's so lame and so he just uses his real name even though Azul's choked him out for it every time. So now he settles for BTH as a shortening and if anyone asks what it means he says, with full seriousness, "Bacon Tomato Hamburger." LOL
✧ Floyd who is so down bad for you that he's always flirting with you in his own weird, Floyd way, and each time you shut him down with a stern, "Never gonna happen," because you're dedicated to your job (and love is a distraction in this line of work). But Floyd's not one to give up and he keeps trying because according to him, "Never might be today and tomorrow, but Shrimpy doesn't know what'll happen in the future..." (He's right; the two of you end up fucking months later because Azul booked a hotel room for you to share on one of your missions and it did have more than one bed, but why sleep separately when you can sleep together?)
✧ despite how closely you and Floyd work together and how chatty he can be when he's in the mood, neither of you know much about the other's personal life. Cue Floyd wanting to know more about you and you getting suspicious each time. And he always answers your questions with, "Because. Can't I ask about Shrimpy's life if I'm plannin' on bein' in it long-term?" He will be the death of you........ orz
✧ Floyd gets himself badly injured on a mission, so he's stuck on bed rest until he heals up. Which means you're transferred to Agent Shock the Heart in the meantime, and Floyd does not like the idea of you and Jade cozying up during missions. >:( he's in Jade's ear the entire time the both of you are on the mission (he dragged himself out of bed and to HQ's tech room just to steal the microphone from the agent who was in communication with Jade) and he's saying stuff like, "Jade, you lay a finger on Shrimpy and I'll break all of yours..." and Jade just has to be annoying, so he's like, "We get married in June. I do hope you'll be my best man."
✧ a classic confession in the midst of an argument. Maybe the mission got too risky and you have to leave behind your team; you and Floyd get into an argument about it and essentially it ends with him yelling, "Cuz I ain't ready to lose ya!" And you look at him with so much confusion because what is he talking about? And Floyd's so angry he's even tearing up and from there it's a soft admission of feelings: "Cuz I like ya... A lot. A whole fuckin' lot. And I'd rather those other guys take the fall than let you get hurt for 'em." AAAAAAAAAAA OTL

You closed the door, a soft sigh escaping your lips as you looked at the older guy laying on the bed.
He had come home quite drunk after having a dinner and a few drinks with his colleagues . You brought him to bed first, quickly going into the kitchen to finish the tea you were cooking before finally joining him in your bedroom.
You sat on the white sheets, hand wandering up to brush a few strands of his face away. His eyes were closed while he enjoyed your touch "Why would you drink so much" You mumbled.
Jiwoong had a quite high tolerance, so for him to get this drunk he'd have to drink quite alot.
He just hummed, taking your hand and leading It to his cheek. The back of your hand got in contact with his skin, the warmth of your hand warming up his cold cheek "work has been stressing" he murmured, eyes still closed.
You let out a sigh, a slightly worried expression on your skin as you watched his sleepy face "Alright, go to sleep then. I'll make you some soup tomorrow" You said, intending to stand up but the tight grip on your hand left you hesitating.
"Don't go" he whispered, and something about the vulnerability and weakness laced within his voice left you staying with him instantly.
He led your hand to his lips, the back of your fingers coming in contact with his lips. He just let them rest there, silently giving you the love he was awake enough to give you.
A small smile appeared on your lips at the small act, letting your hand rest at his lips while your other hand stroked along his cheek.
You pulled the blanket from the end of the bed before laying beside jiwoong, nuzzling against his chest and covering you two with the blanket "All right, I'll stay with you then" you whispered before both of you fell asleep.

Demon Slayer Characters and if I Think They Can Walk in Heels
I SWEAR IM NOT DEAD
Now that I’ve moved into my new place, I’m just trying to get some stuff sorted out so apologies for the delay, I swear I’m working on your requests T_T
In the meantime, here’s this post that I finished a few days ago that I started during finals season

Mitsuri Kanroji
She doesn't really wear heels unless she's going out somewhere
Mitsuri will wear heels if you take her to a club, a date, a restaurant, and any other nicer event
But honestly, she prefers running shoes!
They're convenient, comfortable, and they tend to match their outfits more often than not
Do not get me wrong, Mitsuri can definitely rock a pair of heels
I would say that the highest she can go is six inch heels and that's it
Anymore than that and she's wobbling
Mitsuri's favourite pair of heels is a knee high gladiator sandal that's all gold, and maube about 4-5 inches high?
It pairs lovely with her favourite dresses and skirts, especially when she's going out of her way to turn a few heads
I also think that she's the most graceful out of everyone here
Overall 9/10 she absolutely slays this
Obanai Iguro
He thinks it's stupid that he needs to clarify this at all
Can Obanai walk in heels? Without a doubt
Your next question should be if Obanai chooses to wear heels
And shockingly, he does
I think that Obanai will sometimes wear a two inch loafer heel just for some added height
Hella confident in them too, look at him go
Obanai will totally wear them to work, class, or anywhere he feels like putting on a little bit of effort into what he's wearing
I think on more fancier occasions, like a high end date or club, he might wear some pointed toe stilettos with a nice pair of slacks
Honestly he's not really one to exclude heels from his wardrobe, he's just weirded out by how fascinated people are on this topic

Do I think Tengen can wear heels? I know for a fact he can
But I just think that he never does because he can never find any in his size
Poor guy
To be fair, this man is fucking huge
I even have problems finding boots that fit my calves, deep down in my heart I know that Tengen has it so much worse
Cause even if he manages to find something that fits his foot, it might not fit the rest of his leg
He's actyally really devestated about it
All he wants is a nice pair of pumps to match Hina, Suma and Makio
And maybe a pair of lobster claws...
3/10, a slay in theory but not in practice
I WILL GIVE HIM THIS, if he manages to pay for a custom pair of heels, he will probably rival with Mitsuri in who looks the best in heels
Sanemi Shinazugawa
He says he can walk in heels
But I assure you, he cannot
I think that Sanemi is lowkey intimidated by the results of the other Hashira on this list and now he's in too deep to back down
So when asked if he can wear heels, he will lie to your face
"Obviously, you think I'm gonna allow a pair of shoes to get the best of me?"
Sanemi, you've got a big storm coming
All his machoness goes away the second that he puts them on
Why is he walking with his knees out...
He's not even wearing stilettos, no
Sanemi's wearing three inch cork wedges
They don't really suit his style so he'll never go out of his way to wear them
I think after embarassing himself like this, he's never going to want to learn how to walk in them

Shinobu Kocho
Can absolutely strut in six inch heels no problem
I think that Shinobu wears heels often, especially if she's going to be out in public where she is certain she's going to encounter someone she knows
But I don't think she enjoys wearing them
In some way I think Shinobu wears heels on a semi-daily basis to compensate for her short stature
She wants to be on equal standing with others and in a way, this is her way fo tring to achieve that
Two inch boots aren't going to stop her from being taken seriously
She does try to find some light in her circimustance though
Her favourite pair are these cute mary janes, and she has another pair with a platform sole
So even if you see her wearing heels, please don't mistake that she finds them powerful to wear
It's more of a social thing really
7/10, I wish she had a better experience :/
Kyojuro Rengoku
I am going to say this as nicely as I can
Please be patient with him, he's learning T_T
He can still get to where he needs to go, he just looks a little unstable???
Kyojuro would really appreciate if you held his hand a little
Though I will say, he is enthusiastic about learning!
In a few months he can probably walk just fine in them
I don't think that he would wear them to work or on a date, but he might if he's going to a particular event where you try to look better than usual
Like a high end club or exclusive event, he'll probably wear something classy
I think his go to is wither a pair of corset heels or high blocks
Obanai is lowkey jealous because Kyojuro doesn't really need the extra hight
4/10, keep up the hard work :)
Giyu Tomioka
My first instinct was to immediately put Giyu on the 'Not Allowed' list
A hunch just told me that he would somehow cause more trouble if he wore any
But I considered it further and came to this conlcusion
Giyu can and will walk in heels, just nothing above three inches
He tried walking in four inch platforms and he was nearly tripping every two minutes
And if Tengen sees him exiting his apartment wearing them again he will not hesitate to put those things back where they came from
Giyu does like wearing heels though, even if he's not allowed to wear very high ones
Only wears them if he's going to a club though
His favourite pair is a professional looking pair of blue, beige and black slingbacks with a three inch heel
5/10, but he's walking on thin ice
Gyomei Himejima
I don't think that Gyomei could walk in heels smoothly, but he can certainly get from point A to B
He just can't do it gracefully
If Gyomei walks in heels, he won't ever admit that he's struggling and he'll insist that he's walking just fine
But he has his arms outstretched like he's walking on a tightrope
It's honestly just not his thing, and I don't think he would be able to incorporate it with his current wardrobe
Even if he had the desire to learn, I think he would hear the struggle that Tengen's going through and just give up
He already has to go on a lengthy search to find anything to fit him regularly, let alone a pair of heels
2/10 I can't say I would recommend this for him, no
Muichiro Tokito
You know those pictures of kids wearing their mom's heels?
And their foot barely fits in the shoe?
And they just look so awkwardly out of place?
That's Muichiro
Poor baby
I think he has some growing to do before he's going to learn how to walk in them
But Muichiro definitely wants to learn!
Given how his sense of style is usually baggy or loose fitting clothes, I can see him maybe going to Obanai for style advice in the future
Probably nothing high or flashy either, just probably a pair of classy heeled boots
I just don't think it's for him right now, at his current stature
Muichiro just looks a little bit out of place in them right now though...
1/10, maybe when you're a bit older buddy

Just adding a few things about this post here.
I think about it in two ways now. Because when we first thought of puppets, only the idea of being manipulated came to mind. But what if that's not all?
Higgs touches Fatih Akin's puppet directly and asks what it would be? Another soulless little husk? Another... Higgs has met a lot of them out there, Higgs knows what these things are.
Higgs is perhaps another one of those soulless little husks, in the same way that Lou's pod is a soulless little husk.
And then it makes me think that maybe that's why he knows more about Lou's condition than the rest of us, he knows because maybe they have something in common.
But back to the point about the puppets!
So it wouldn't just be the idea of being manipulated, it would be the idea of being a body, a husk without a soul, without desires, without love or thoughts and which is trapped by these cords that are supposed to signify some kind of connection, but which are actually used to manipulate these little husks like puppets in a theater show, telling or not telling true stories, entertaining or terrifying the audience.
We can research the origin and history of puppets and puppetry throughout history just to be sure (puppet|puppetry).
I could also add dolls, which can basically be what puppets are, but without strings to manipulate them, without anything to give them "life". But just to make it clear how much the idea of puppets can expand to these "little" things that can bring symbolic/metaphorical meanings into the narrative.
And then I'll remind you that there are 3 basic ways of using puppets and manipulating them:

You can't say that this has nothing to do with Death Stranding. The string, the stick and the hand. Even here I'm thinking "my madness makes sense because it makes sense with the universe, but how far is Kojima going to take this?" - 2025 is a long way off. T_T
I could say that the idea is about manipulation, but it's not just manipulation.
It's about empty husks yearning for something and being manipulated by someone in order to tell a rehearsed lie to fool those watching.
And all because the red lines remind me of theater curtains too. We need to sit down and stop being crazy about this game!!! (self-criticism).
Another thing I noticed. Fatih Akin's character has a stop-motion effect, as Kojima told us, which is basically dolls moved by hand if you look at any creation of this kind, people basically use their hands to position them throughout the process, but it's not just this that I want to point out, it's the effect that these behind-the-camera videos give us: the sensation of time distortion. And with this sensation of distorted time we get the idea that the puppet is moving too slowly while the person manipulating it is moving too quickly, temporal distortion or the feeling that each one belongs to a different space-time.
So I take this and combine it with Death Stranding, where we have the idea of a multiverse and spiritual and carnal dimensions, what I get is the feeling that what controls Fatih Akin's puppet is not only somewhere else, but that this place could be another dimension, and another dimension with different temporal issues from the one the puppet is in. So would that dimension be the Beach? Maybe yes, maybe no. We don't know these soulless husks, we don't know where they came from and what moves them, so we couldn't assume they're BTs controlling receptacles (although I'll stick to that theory to the end).
If the theory is that Higgs is trapped on the Beach and this new body on earth is being controlled by his Beach Self, then wouldn't it make sense to say that the same happens to Fatih Akin's character because only he is moving in a distorted way and Higgs isn't?
And now to finish, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in DS2 our dear Higgs appears singing Master of Puppets.

🎼 you like Hwang Hyunjin... but you're not sure if you're falling for the male lead role that he acts out with you or for the real him.

he cups your entire right cheek in just one of his hands, stroking it with his thumb.
"my love..." he mumbles, his eyes settling on your lips.
your heart shouldn't be racing. you should be keeping calm... but you can't help it. the moment when he tilts his head and his locks fall over his eyes, his lips touch yours and his hands pull you closer, you have to use all your willpower to keep your knees from buckling.
"cut!" the director announces.
Hyunjin pulls away slowly, as if savouring the kiss despite it being completely scripted.
"was that okay? are you okay?" he asks, his hand still cupping your face. he seems to still be stuck in the kiss until he realizes and pulls his hand away.
"yeah, it was fine!" you reassure the boy.
he smiles brightly at you and his hands enter his pockets. someone from the production team calls him over and he excuses himself, and you're left fanning your face to get yourself to calm down.
your manager approaches you with some water.
"hey, y/n, are you alright? did you get too caught up in the scene?" they ask.
"yeah, i guess so..." you mumble, thanking them for the water and taking a sip.
you watch Hyunjin from afar and how he interacts with the staff, intently listening to them and nodding along. he's so dreamy... is it just because of the character he plays? are you falling for him or his character?
you're not a rookie actor by any means, and you've played plenty of romantic scenes before... never have you felt this way. but then again, and no offense to the other actors you've worked with, none have ever been quite this handsome.
you suck in a breath through your teeth, still watching him.
well, heck. why don't you put your acting skills to use and go approach him with somw fake confidence? nothing is stopping you!
so, that's what you do. Hyunjin immediately turns to you with a smile, and when you ask for a second of his time, he gladly follows you outside of the set.
"honestly, y/n, thank God you pulled me away. the staff were repeating themselves a lot back there," he explains with a giggle. you don't comprehend any of it because you're so busy staring at the way his thin, silver rings sit on his fingers and how his hands themselves seem to nervously dance with one another.
"but anyways, what did you want to talk about?" he asks, eyes wide as he gives you his full attention.
his long, dark locks tied half up half down expose his pretty T-zone.
"oh uh... well, i was wondering if we could exchange numbers and go over the script on our own, together, sometime?" you ask, not even missing a single beat despite your request being a little odd.
Hyunjin is sweet though, and doesn't question it much. yet, is he sweet or is he just acting that way because he's used to putting on an image?
"oh... are the scenes for next week making you extra nervous? don't worry, me too! we can definitely do that! here, pass me your phone and i'll give you mine."
your fingers brush against each other and your heart races. it wasn't like you weren't just kissing this man a few moments ago. yet you weren't really kissing him, were you? you were kissing a character. you, no, not even you but a character, was kissing another character.
identity crisis. the one problem with actors that people rarely discuss.
anyways, you get his number just like that. all according to script.

two days later, you're pacing around in Hyunjin's livingroom, muttering the lines to yourself as he makes you both some hot beverages.
"you look like a mad scientist right now," he says before chuckling. his laugh is like honey for the ears and it makes you stop walking, which makes Hyunjin think he hurt your feelings.
"i was joking, i'm sorry if i offended you," he calmly explains, but you firmly shake your head and tell him it's fine.
he nods in response and his hair, untied today, bounces around his gorgeous, tan face.
Hyunjin then walks over to you, drinks in hand and offering you one. you take it before he can warn you that it's hot, and it slips straight out of your hands.
smash.
the hot liquid spreads around the floor and Hyunjin urges you to step back as he runs to clean it up. he's straight out of a drama with the way he vaccums up the glass and wipes away the liquid from the floor, pausing to push his hair behind his ears and roll up his sleeves.
he knows exactly when to do what, and you're in love, smitten for his calculated moves and perfection. but is it even love if it's perfect?
"let me help," you keep offering, but his worried face and tone tell you to move onto the couch and rehearse the script while he cleans up.
it doesn't take long but it feels like an eternity for you as you watch over him. yet before you know it, he's holding out another drink to you, reminding you quickly that it's hot this time.
"thank you, Hyunjin. i'm so sorry."
"hey now, y/n. don't apologize! i'm just glad you're not hurt. now, let's finally practice, shall we?"
ah yes, practice. no small talk. no cuddling on the couch--why would that even happen?! your mind races ahead, already imagining scenarios with your co-actor...
"so the next scene seems to be an argument that ends in a hug. i start this one... honey. why won't you just hear me out?" Hyunjin's tone changes immediately as he adopts his character's tone.
"no, i think you need to listen! you've been going around seeing other people and i've acted oblivious for too long," you shout.
"other people? my love, i've only been seeing you--"
"don't you dare lie!" you cut him off at the perfect moment and let your voice shake, just like the script commands.
"those people theyre--it's all fake. but we're real, my dear. we're real," Hyunjin's voice grows more quiet.
"if we're real then why do you keep referring to me with different petnames. why can't you stick to one! who is it that you call 'my dear'? must be someone else! i've never heard that one before."
Hyunjin lets out a scripted sigh and races forward to wrap you in a hug. he feels so warm and the butterflies rage within you again, still persisting even when he pulls away to look at you while saying his next lines. his hands holding onto you keep you in place. once again, your legs have gone weak.
your eyes land on Hyunjin's plump lips. they're so red and shiny, coated with the sip of his drink he took earlier. you wonder how it tastes. you wonder how it tastes on Hyunjin's lips--no. you wonder how Hyunjin's lips taste.
and before you know it, you've gone off-script. you've broken out of your character and are pressing your lips to his and God it feels so good. they're warm, they taste bitter like his drink but sweet from the cookie he ate before, they're soft and... and he's kissing you back. he's holding the back of your neck to bring you closer as his other hand supports your back, he won't pull away, he won't take a breath until you do.
you finally pull away when you start to feel dizzy, and you both avoid each other's eyes for a few seconds. when you finally look at him, he looks dazed.
"um... y/n i think.. i think we should go back to the script," Hyunjin mumbles, crouching down to pick up the papers he forgot he dropped.
"and what if i don't want to," you say, too quiet for him to hear.
you wait for him to tell you that the kiss should've never happened and should never happen again. he doesn't. so, you hope it'll happen again. you hope you can break free of the script you're forced to follow.

A low whistle greeted you as you walked into the living area.
"You look hot," Changkyun growled from his spot by the window. He was laying on the floor, shirtless, sunning himself like a lizard.
"You look hot," you laughed in return. "Like temperature wise. Why are you laying in the sun?"
"Hot water's out," he muttered. "I became a Changkyun-sicle trying to wash up."
You shook your head before plopping on the couch. "Where's Min?"
"Likely incurring the wrath of winter," he grumbled. As you continued to stare at him, he motioned toward the hallway. "It was his turn to shower."
That explained the high-pitched scream you heard while you were getting dressed.
As if being summoned by his name alone, you heard a door down the hall creak open, and footsteps pad out. Stumbling into the room with you, Minhyuk scrubbed a towel over his still damp hair. You tried to keep your eyes focused on his face, but it was difficult when all he was wearing was a pair of pajama pants slung low across his hips.
"Y/N," he hiccupped in surprise, immediately dropping his towel to cover his torso. The tips of his ears were turning redder by the minute. "I thought you had left."
"Nope," you croaked, trying to clear the sight of Minhyuk's body from your mind. "My Lyft driver is stuck in traffic."
"Right," he nodded, sidestepping toward the other side of the room. Reaching into the coat closet, he pulled out a hoodie and yanked it over his head. "I was too busy being naked to mention it, but you look gorgeous."
"Thank you," you said, unable to maintain eye contact. Minhyuk was always the first to dish out a compliment (or his opinion in general). His words had an easy way of causing you to blush, whether he was poking fun or genuinely gassing you up.
"Where are you going looking like that?" he asked, dropping onto the couch beside you.
"I have a date," you said quietly, still refusing to look up. It had been a long time since you had actually been out with someone, let alone someone you were hopeful about. "Changkyun introduced me to-"
"Who?" Minhyuk cut in before you could finish.
"Hyungwon," Changkyun hummed dismissively. "Boy has no game."
"Hyungwon!" Minhyuk gasped.
You turned to look at him, furrowing your brow. Changkyun and Minhyuk circulated the same circles and had mostly the same friends. You had assumed that if Changkyun offered to set you up with someone, Minhyuk would approve as well. Not that you needed his approval...it just...would have been nice.
Your relationship with Minhyuk was something you could brag about. He was such a passionately good friend that even his quirks didn't ruffle your dynamic. He was loud, energetic, and a shock to the system for many, but those were the people that didn't get to see him in his quiet moments. He was so soft and sweet. It was hard to grapple with the intrinsic need to cuddle him and simply take care of him.
"That was the name I said, yes," Changkyun sighed, glancing up at his friend as well. "What's the problem?"
"W-well," Minhyuk struggled. His brain was working overtime. "He's not dateable! Like at all!"
"Name one reason."
"Okay," he hummed, thinking. Launching up from the couch, he exclaimed, "He smells bad!"
"Oh, come on," Changkyun laughed. "He does not smell bad."
"He does!" Minhyuk insisted, beginning his pacing.
You were shocked that he was acting this way. Normally, both Changkyun and Minhyuk were supportive of almost all of your endeavors. Amazingly, that seemed to not include dating.
"Min," you laughed, shaking your head. Your eyes followed him as he walked back and forth. "Why are you acting like this?"
Changkyun sat up instantly, grinning mischievously. "I can tell you why."
Minhyuk paused his steps and shot a glare in the younger man's direction. "I just want what's best for you, Y/N!"
"Oooor," Changkyun purred. "He's jealous."
Changkyun's words landed like a slap. You were stunned by the possibility he presented. There was no way that Minhyuk could be jealous of you seeing someone else. That just wasn't like him.
Or you assumed it wasn't. Thinking back, you hadn't been in a serious relationship since your friendship had started. He was very protective of your time together and... well, protective of your attention in general.
"I'm not jealous!" Minhyuk groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What reason would I have to be jealous?"
"Maybe, and try to follow me here," Changkyun smiled. "You like Y/N."
Your mouth popped open in surprise as Minhyuk looked around the room, panicked.
"I love Y/N," Minhyuk nodded, avoiding eye contact. "We all do."
"Noooo," Changkyun chimed. "We do love Y/N, but you loooove Y/N."
"For fuck's sake," Minhyuk muttered, covering his eyes. "Stop trying to stir the pot! There is nothing to be stirred!"
"Oh contraire," Changkyun chuckled, living for this moment. "I think your reaction is proving that there is plenty to be stirred."
You looked from Minhyuk to Changkyun and back again. Mouth suddenly dry, you tried to find words to add to the conversation. "Is...is that true, Min?"
Minhyuk didn't bother uncovering his eyes as he groaned. "Of course not, don't be ridiculous."
Part of you wilted at his statement. You had never really thought of Minhyuk in that way, but now that it was presented, you couldn't say it wasn't appealing.
Changkyun watched you carefully before turning back to the older man. "Prove it."
"I'm sorry," Minhyuk sighed, dropping his hands. "Prove what?"
"Prove that you don't have feelings for Y/N," Changkyun insisted.
"And how exactly do you expect me to do that?" Minhyuk grumbled, eying you with a pout.
"Kiss," Changkyun prodded. "Kiss Y/N and prove that you two don't have feelings for each other."
"That's stupid," Minhyuk scoffed. "Y/N doesn't want to-"
"I'll do it," you chirped, heat immediately radiating across your neck.
"See, they don't want to-" Minhyuk halted, having realized what you said. "You'll do it?"
"Sure," you continued, uncertain of what had gotten into you. "We'll just kiss and that'll be that."
"Right," Minhyuk said carefully. "That will be that."
"What's a kiss between friends?" Changkyun mocked. Waving his hands through the air, he motioned for you to stand.
Moving unsteadily to your feet, you crossed the room to stand in front of Minhyuk. Bared before him, you suddenly felt ripped open. The realization that you hoped he had feelings for you was dizzying. You were willing to let him in. He could have you if he wanted.
But did he?
Rolling his eyes, Minhyuk finally directed his attention to you. "This is silly."
"So silly," you said dumbly, glancing up at him through your lashes. You couldn't help but notice that his breathing had turned shallow.
"We don't have to do this," he whispered, his brows drawn together. "If you don't feel comfortable-"
"I want to," you interrupted. "Gotta prove your innocence, right?"
"I have nothing to prove to him," Minhyuk grumbled, glaring above your shoulder at what you could only suspect was Changkyun and his shit-eating grin.
"Then prove it to me," you said quietly.
Minhyuk's gaze latched onto you again. Sucking on his bottom lip, his eyes tunneled deep into yours, trying to reconcile his next move. You lifted your brows, waiting in silence.
After a few more seconds, Minhyuk's hands crept slowly up your arms. Sliding over your shoulders, they came to rest on either side of your neck, his pointer and thumb splayed across your jaw. Giving him a short nod of reassurance, you watched as he drew closer, and placed his mouth lightly on yours.
There weren't fireworks, but this kiss wasn't meant for that. It was meant to be questioning. It was meant to be soft and shy.
Taking a deep inhale through his nose, he pulled away again to exhale. Keeping his eyes closed, he set his forehead against yours. "Every butterfly that has ever existed are now all in my stomach."
You let out a breathy chuckle before pulling away from him. Opening his eyes, he looked at you questioningly. His fingers remained wrapped around your neck, not eager to let go.
"Min," you whispered. "Kiss me."
It took him a few moments to register your words before he began nodding to himself. Leaning in again, he pressed his lips more firmly against yours. Reaching up, you gripped his hoodie in your fists and pulled him even closer. You opened your mouth to the kiss, realizing you were both smiling as Minhyuk staggered against you.
There were the fireworks. For as bright of a person as Minhyuk was, it was unsurprising that his kiss made you see stars. Everything that had been unsaid over the duration of your friendship was being poured into his zealous affections.
Dropping one of his hands from your jaw, he wrapped an arm around your waist. You tilted your head back, attempting to get a better vantage for the kiss. Your lips seemed to melt together, tongues working in sync, with small giggles erupting from either of you at any moment.
Changkyun loudly cleared his throat, causing both of you to jump. Minhyuk dropped his face into your shoulder and let out a chuckle. "I completely forgot we weren't alone."
"You're about to be," Changkyun laughed, pulling himself to his feet. "I have to text Hyungwon so he's not ghosted."
You winced, turning to look at Changkyun. "I'm so sorry. I-"
"He'll live," Changkyun grinned. "This is much better. I love being right."

Ugh, I look at this and feel like it needs to be shaded to be finished, but boy do I really, really, reeeeeaally not want to! T_T
But anyways here's some designs for Sonic, Sally and Shadow's kids from the Incredibles Superhero AU. No supersuits yet, just normal outfits for now. Planned on doing a family portrait but thats seven characters, plus still am not fully sold on some of the designs for the kids yet. Gonna be working on that next tho.
So! About the kids! First off is the eldest, Estelle. Inspiration for her character comes from Incredibles Violet Parr and Lara-su from the light Mobius storyline. Biologically she is Sonic and Shadow's (don't think I've ever mentioned before but lets headcanon that there's a portion of the Mobian population that can have kids regardless of gender; Sally and Sonic are both like that). Might change around the colours in her quills, but she also used to dye them black like Shadow, but am thinking she started experimenting with colours when she hit her teens. Growing up she was always closer with Sally, but is secretly a daddy's girl too. As for powers she is able to wield chaos energy like Shadow, more in the form of energy blasts and force fields. Estelle struggles with wanting to be "normal" but also deep down thinks her powers are really cool.
On to the twins, Sonya and Manik (also inspired by Light Mobius storyline)! Biologically Sally and Sonic's, and technically not actually twins but are often treated as such given how they both got pregnant at roughly the same time. Sally carried Manik and Sonic carried Sonya, who is about a month older than her brother, a fact she lords over him every chance she gets. I wanted Sonya's hair to have a spikey look to show some of that hedgehog in her. I like Manik's gap tooth, and the shorter, messier spikes, gave him. Wanted to give him bangs to, but nothing really fit so far. Am thinking they both got superspeed but also developed secondary powers too. Still debated what those would be tho. They also both have traces of nanites in their blood from Sally. These two are always up to mischief, and have way to much energy with no proper outlet for it all. They also tend to cling to each other and have difficulty making friends separately.
And lastly there's the baby who I am struggling to come up with a name for! (Why must names be so hard!?) He is biologically Sally and Shadow's. Sonic is the primary caregiver as it was decided that Sally would go back to work once her maternity leave was up. And at first glance it appears that Sonic is the favourite parent, but he is well aware that the real favourite is Nicole. At the start of the story does not have any powers, but just like Jack Jack, we all know that's going to change... ;)

When Worlds Collide
As the camera starts out staticky, you can hear a dark chuckle. Once the static clears out, a rather strange, mixmatched, dragon-like creatures comes into view.
"Hello, everypony! Should I say everyone. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Discord, spirit of chaos and disharmony!"
"Originally, I wasn't scheduled to make my Tumblr debut until much later, but a certain mod informed me that desperate times call for desperate measures. Something on the line of... 'notifications'?"
"Though as exciting as it is for me to show my face early, my only complaint would be the fact that I have to SHARE this blog with others. But I suppose this will have to do for now. Perhaps if things go well here, I'll be able to have my own personal blog down the line..."
"With that being said, let's get this show on the road! I've been sent here to summon several muses here that I'm sure you'll be happy to see! After all; a lot of them are people you've met before I assume?"
And with that, Discord snapped his fingers. Just like that, tons of people(and one pony), appear. They look around in confusion before turning to face the odd creature that was before them.
“UwaaaaaaAAAAAAHHH!!!”
The spikey-haired boy ran into hiding. Oddly enough, two of them looked and dressed exactly like him. One went after the more timid version to check of him, while the other had bandages, all over his torso, arms and legs(I have no sprites for that one! T_T)
"W-what that f&ck is that?!?!"
'Kyaaaaaaah! It's a monster!'
"I'm going to assume that this is the creature who brought us here. But... why?"
Discord was rather disappointed by certain reactions as he turned away.
"A simple 'thank you' would've sufficed! But I suppose most of you aren't much a fourth-wall breakers now aren't you...? How rude! To think I actually did this to help you all on your current predicament-"
Before the draconaquus could finish his sentence, a certain pink pony zoomed in and gave him a super tight hug from behind.
"GYAAAAAGH!!!"
"Discord! Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you sooooooo much for bringing us all together! I'm so happy to finally be able meet all my neighbors at once! I thought it going to take like... foreeeverrr to meet a few of them at a time! And I SO thank our mod a bejillion times for this too! And that best part is... you now get to be a part of this too! This is the best! Decision! EVERRRRRRRR!!!"
"C-can someone... please give us a promo... before Pinkie Pie... breaks me in half...?"
(Hello everyone. Mod Princess here. So basically, this is a chaos blog mashing @ask-timid-makoto-naegi, @danganronpa-v3-demo-au, @your-pink-party-pony, and @sole-survivor-makoto-naegi altogether. This is being done due to the recent changes on tumblr regarding the notifications. I figured that I'd have some fun and add Discord from MLP into the blog as well.
So this is what's going to happen from here on out. Every event and starter I decide to do regarding any of my other blogs are going to start off here from now on. You also can also RP on the chaos blog if you'd like. It will just require me to use other blogs to respond depending one which of my muse(s) you are interacting with. I will also be using this blog for any and all RPs that I didn't get notified on.
Aster recommends this to me as an alternative option to constantly pinging, and so far it seems to have worked after @unofficialuserluser tested it out. So now I'm giving it a go. Fingers crossed this continues to work!
Edit 5/5/2023 - Okay so I wasn’t informed until like… just now the the problem has been fixed. REALLY wish someone would’ve told me this sooner before I went ahead and made this blog. Nonetheless, it’s here and people are already interacting. So I’ll need to figure out an alternative. If you still want to interact, go ahead and do so.

did you play any game(s) recently that you enjoyed? not just wondering about rpg games but i saw the rpg games post and am excited to look at some of the suggestions on that one myself.
I played Content Warning w some of my friends and it was dope. Love to be a funny guy with a T_T face and make funny ass videos not much more to say than that. Played The Midnight Scenes - From The Woods and had a good time with it, its a short horror game and its got the rare quality where like. I felt they somewhat dropped the ball on the story & the horror aspect but the character writing was so incredibly charming that it made up for it.
Also just finished watching my buddy play through Mother 3 and I liked it toooooo although you may be surprised to hear it wasnt quite my thing. Not what was asked but Im gonna expand on some of my thoughts about it here cuz why not
With how unbelievably obsessed I was with Earthbound as a kid, I was hoping Mother 3 would stir up the same kinda love and become an all time favorite game of mine but unfortunately it did not. I think I prefer Earthbound to Mother 3 the same way that I preferred Anodyne 1 to Anodyne 2 where it's like. If you're iterating on a formula in the pursuit of a more cohesive and serious story throughout the entire game, then you have to REALLY commit and REALLY succeed for me to be on board because otherwise I'll nitpick like hell. And I felt like in some ways, for the story Mother 3 was trying to tell, it was a bit noncommittal, with some parts going on for a bit too long, some locations having a bit too little thought put into them, some sections not quite as Committed to the Bit as I'd like them to be or not quite as dark as they could be, some characters lacking just enough development for me to really feel it. All of these things culminating in me lacking immersion in the game's world. I think I'm likely to be a lot more charitable towards games like Earthbound w less of a story focus and more random ass funny ass shit going on even if the gameplay is kinda ass, cuz lighthearted playfulness colors flaws with a certain amount of charm and flavor rather than directly detracting from the experience. Exception to this is I prefer Deltarune to Undertale because Deltarune's writing kicks so much ass that it completely sidesteps all of the issues I tend to have. Anyways Mother 3 is still very very good but Im dat crazy ass narrative / characterization guy so I can be hard to please

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
Again, under current ao3: 210,771. I am overly verbose :D
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, only Formula 1, but before that I wrote… kpop. I shall not go further than that.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The house by the sea, monachopsis, romance by the fractures, you could kill me (and you should) and in beds of flame, how often was i tried.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! It takes me so long to reply to them because I have # issues regarding accepting compliments and also not quite knowing how to reply to them. People are terribly sweet and I’m so enamored with their kindness <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
he chose me (as his burial ground), my dead dove magnum opus!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Monachopsis. I think if you compare it with the beginning, it is the happiest one!

Nah, I did get an ask once saying I was promoting infidelity lmao

Porn with feelings is the only way I can describe it lol

Well, define crossover. I do mix drivers in every other fic because I need to have female characters or I die. I cannot exist without at least one female character T_T

Yes, for my old fandom lol, it was such a fun experience! Each of us wrote a scene, one after the other, from two different povs. Would love to do it again!

I’m not going to lie chief, I do not have an all time favourite. I have terrible fluctuations in favorites but if I had to pick a top 5 in no particular order it’d be sebchal, sewis, surene, kaisoo, galex.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Low fantasy lestappen featuring topics like slavery, some trauma, fictional religions and its rituals… and sex, of course.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d say I’m pretty good at capturing the emotions of the moment, describing feelings and putting poetic stuff everywhere lol I was raised on latin american fiction and poetry :)))
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything else lol. Being realistic, I think I’m weak on narration aspects.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I write the entire fic in another language, this is nothing to me (I never include any other languages unless I know them or unless I specifically know the meaning of the sentence I’m including or I have asked twice to friends that speak that language).

Oh, Oh! I got an idea for that Demon Jade and Angel Floyd AU!!! (more like a ramble I wanna share sgsha)
So like, what if a long looooongggg time ago Jade was also an angel, and being the twin of Floyd, they were both the most cute little satanic blessings heaven has to offer.
Till one day Jade did something and he got kicked out of heaven, and Floyd being betrayed cause how dare his brother leave him tore a pretty big gap in their relationship.
So now for the present day where they both of them had decided they wanted to invade your peaceful life, you are busy with doing some work/homework.
And these two are just busy waging a war behind you, but you are used to the shenanigans so you just ignore them.
Till they get worse, and you had to kick them out.
And it's raining.
And the both of them are now sitting at your front door like sopping wet cats, begging to be let in. Omg the idea of Floyd enduring the cold rain just so that you won't feel sympathy for Jade and let him inside... T_T he's so petty. But then Floyd can't catch any colds or illnesses because he's an angel, so it doesn't really bother him. It's still not a pleasant experience sitting out there on the stoop and being soaked through, but it's better than having to watch you coddle Jade. >:( the argument definitely turns physical and it isn't long before Jade's trying to tear handfuls of Floyd's feathers out of his wings while Floyd's grabbing at Jade's horns to try to snap them off. ;;; they're mean!!!!
You end up throwing the door open to scold the both of them and they listen surprisingly well (even though they're both a bit miffed that they couldn't properly finish their fight). If either of them wants to come back inside where it's warm and cozy, they'll have to genuinely apologize to the other. It's like pulling teeth when they're both so stubborn, simmering in their still-brewing frustrations, but they manage their apologies if only to appease you. Floyd's injuries don't mean much when he can just heal and he does so without thinking. Jade can do the same, but he wants to be fawned over. You end up sitting Jade down so you can patch him up, scolding him all the while: "You ought to be nice to your brother. He's just doing his job; don't make it harder for him."
Floyd's distraught. :( why didn't he think of that!!!! He could have been patched up by his Shrimpy and yet all of your love and care is going to Jade. It's not fair at all! It should have been him!!!!!
But after you tend to Jade you turn to Floyd and check him over to make sure he's okay, so perhaps it's not entirely bad luck. <3 Floyd places his hands over yours to keep them there for a little longer, and he envelops you in his wings to keep you close. Let him be a little selfish with your affections. He deserves it!

“Sono Saki e” Random Thoughts (Review?)

Phew, this post is long-overdue. I’ve actually had this “review” sitting around in my drafts since May 30 but I wanted to wait till my physical copies arrived (unfortunately, my package took forever T_T). We have had multiple opportunities to listen to the tracks (or at least snippets of them) and of course I also listened to the digital album as soon as it became available. I’ll be honest with you, my initial reaction to the snippets and later the full tracks was rather lukewarm but in the past couple of weeks, most of the album has grown on me. So far my TOP 5 in order of their track listing are “Rapa Nui”, “標 (Shirushi)”, “希望(Kibou)”,“明日を夢見て歌う(Asu wo Yume Mite Utau)” and “Flag”. Here are some random thoughts on the album as a whole and the individual songs ┗(•ˇ_ˇ•)→
Vocals: I’m not gonna write an analysis on Wakana’s vocals since I obviously lack the technical knowledge for that sort of stuff but I would still like to vent a little. In recent times, Wakana has talked a lot about how she is constantly refining her skills, working with a vocal coach and discovering new ways to use her voice, however, I fail to hear any real results of those efforts. I have to wonder if her vocal coach (or Takebe in his role as producer) are even giving any sort of effective advice because it certainly doesn’t seem like they do. The Japanese mindset probably keeps them from providing proper constructive criticism. This has always been an issue in the Japanese music industry but I am noticing it more now that Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru can no longer compensate for each other’s weaknesses. I don’t mean to bash or anything, you know I would never do that. I can still appreciate their solo vocals and for the most part I definitely enjoy Wakana’s vocals in this album but sometimes I get frustrated when it’s clear that the girls are not reaching their full potential or are using styles that are absolutely unflattering. I mean, who is telling Wakana (and Keiko for that matter) it’s a good idea to over-affect her voice or to sing in a register that is simply too high? Pretty sure this stuff is up to her so I guess it is a conscious choice and no one is guiding her in a better direction. I know for a fact that Wakana is capable of using a fuller, steadier voice but for some reason she often falls back on singing styles that don’t do anything for her and make her sound quite generic or borderline amateurish. It’s a shame...Rant over.
Visuals: The botanical and watery backgrounds/colours fit Wakana’s image perfectly. I wouldn’t say it’s a good match for the theme of the album but I don’t really mind. These are probably not my favourite looks for her but there are still some super lovely shots included in the photobook and lyric booklets. I originally thought all those light spots were a filter but they really used strings of light for the shoot. Not sure yet if I am a fan of the finished look.Something about it doesn’t really work for me.
Bonus material: No idea why they decided to add a DVD instead of a Blu-ray but I am just grateful we got footage from the Christmas live. It’s a solid concert with many good performances so I am happy there’s official footage. Too bad they cut the Christmas songs though, I remember enjoying them a lot. The audio tracks are a nice addition but I think instrumental versions of the album tracks would have been a nicer bonus. The exclusive fan club track is nothing to write home about, wish they had included footage from the after-talk instead or maybe the Christmas tracks.
Editions: As always, I appreciate that we get different booklets for every single edition. Makes it so much more fun and worthwhile to collect different editions. Overall I would day that all versions were reasonably priced for the content we got. And I am glad they once again decided to go for an LP-sized package with a big photobook. They look so good on my Kalafina showcase/shrine. Small nitpick: The quality of the large photobook isn’t what it used to be, it’s much thinner paper now T_T Makes it easier to scan though so I guess it’s not that bad.
Promotion: As far as the promotional campaign is concerned, I would say it’s sufficiently wide-spread on the media front but it feels a little lackluster in terms of in-store presence. Many Japanese fans have complained that the store promo for Wakana’s “Sono Saki e” wasn’t up to par with all the displays that were prepared for Keiko’s “Cutlery”. Thankfully we got the release events which added a bit of hype. Altogether, her performance in the Oricon Charts wasn’t too shabby either (#28) so the marketing team must have done something right. On a side note, I still very much appreciate the relatively high production value of Wakana’s solo works (especially compared to Hikaru’s and Keiko’s stuff). It’s clear that a lot of money is still invested in Wakana so YAY for that.
Overall thoughts: "Sono Saki e” has been a long time in the making so despite my best efforts, certain expectations have been building up. I know of course that getting my hopes up too high is a stupid thing to do because it will inevitably set me up for disappointment but I am only human and after three years of waiting, I was in a serious Wakana drought. However, now that the album is finally here, I feel a surprising sense of indifference (?) towards it. My reaction to Keiko’s latest album should have been indication enough but I think it’s becoming more and more obvious that I am suffering from a serious case of Kalafina-solo fatigue. It seems like I am steadily falling out of love with their solo music which makes me incredibly sad but I guess it was bound to happen at some point. I am not even saying that I dislike the album but there is just a lack of sparks I guess? Objectively speaking, I would say that Wakana’s 3rd album is quite good, I thoroughly enjoy around 60% of it and I’ve been listening to a lot of the songs on repeat. But I am just not as invested as I would like to be. On a side note, is it just me or does the album feel a little too rushed (despite its long production period)? I would have wanted the album to reflect the three years worth of thought and effort that were supposedly put into it but that’s honestly not the vibe I am getting here. I mean, they decided to include an instrumental of one of the tracks AND a literal copy-paste version of a previous album track, that just screams last minute decision to me. I guess it’s because the actual production didn’t start until much later so ultimately, there was a lot of rushing involved but still, it’s a shame.

M1. Butterfly Dream: I feel like everything has already been said about this. It’s fun with the visuals of the PV but without those, the song loses a lot of its charm for me. Even though it’s the leading track of the album, I find it a bit underwhelming, maybe because the melody isn’t really resonating with me? Also, not a huge fan of how Wakana seems to over-affect (if that’s the right word?) her voice during quite a few parts of the song (especially during the chorus) to sound cute/innocent. She sometimes does this for certain types of anisong covers but it’s honestly not the most flattering singing style in my opinion. I guess the outward “cuteness” of the vocals appeals to a wider audience so it’s not a bad thing per se. I mean, there must be a reason why they picked this as promo track for the album (Rating: 2.5/5)
M2. Rapa Nui: Definitely the most exciting and refreshing track on the album. The Celtic(?) sound matches Wakana’s voice perfectly. Kinda sounds like something you would hear at a medieval festival. Reminds me a bit of Kalafina’s “Moonfesta” or Hikaru’s “Fili”. Based on the title, I would have expected the song to sound totally different but I am honestly not mad about how it turned out. It’s great that they used the Rapa Nui language for some lines, spices up the whole thing. I initially believed that the song could have benefited from a stronger chorus but by now I’m literally obsessed with it, can’t get the melody out of my head :P Some of those ultra-high notes don’t sound pleasant to my ears but it’s not on a level where it takes away from my enjoyment. Contemplated taking half a point off for it but at the end of the day, it’s not worth it. It’s such a superb track (Rating: 5/5)
M3. 標 (Shirushi): Sometimes this song doesn’t really affect me all that much and other times it makes me cry like a baby (especially when Wakana sings “この先も力に歌うから”). In many ways, it reminds me of “Ai no Hana” which has a similar theme and is one of my favourite tracks from Wakana’s first album but I need to hear it live to get the full experience. The same is the case for “Shirushi”. And I also have to be in the right mood for it. I am not 100% sold on the melody but Wakana’s vocals are gorgeous and the emotion she puts into her singing is just out of this world. On top of that, we have beautiful lyrics and a precious backstory, I can’t help but give this song a high rating (Rating: 4/5)
M4. 希望 (Kibou): With the exception of “Rapa Nui” this is probably the only track that instantly clicked with me. Even when we just got a snippet of it, I immediately fell in love. The melody is just the right amount of cheesy in a good way, it hits me right in the feels. I think it comes closest to a standard power ballad or a 90s pop ballad. I am a huge sucker for those and it is obviously the type of song I love to hear from Wakana. Is it just me though or could Wakana have used a more flattering singing style for the chorus? She is going very high and it tends to sound a bit strained. For me, this is on the very edge of sounding screechy, a little higher, a little flatter and I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it. It’s clearly a challenging track but not necessarily something that Wakana can’t handle imo. Really curious how she will be handling those parts during a live performance. Hopefully she can tweak her style a bit to make it more suitable for the song. Another tiny nitpick is the bland bridge, I wish it had a little more oomph, it’s neither here nor there but oh well, I am so smitten with this song that I can’t really focus on any of the negative aspects (Rating: 4.5/5)
M5. 殻 (Kara): Who thought it was a good idea to do a “Tsubasa 2.0.”? I really wish they would have come up with something else. They had more than enough time to look into other options. I understand the intention of course, “Tsubasa” is solid and highlights some of the grittier parts of Wakana’s voice but that doesn’t warrant a blatant rip-off. Enough complaining though, I feel like I am way too harsh on “Kara”. On its own merits, it’s actually quite fun and yeah, just like its predecessor it works flawlessly to highlight Wakana’s voice in a different way, I like her more feisty singing style. Objectively speaking, I really can’t fault this song but it still doesn’t quite hit the spot for me. Thankfully, Wakana’s singing makes up for it (Rating: 3.5/5)
M6. そのさきへ(Sono Saki e)～Interlude～: The melody is not striking enough. I am usually a sucker for a good instrumental piece but this one falls a little flat unfortunately. Wakana keeps saying that she cried when she first listened to the demo but I really wonder why...However, I will have to say that the gorgeous piano playing of this interlude does appeal to me more than the melody in the normal version of the song (Rating: 2.5/5)
M7. KEMONO feat.清塚信也: I’ve said it before and I will say it again, every cell in my body is rejecting this type of song. I know that’s a me-problem and I feel horrible judging Wakana’s work based on such a personal preference.This reminds me way too much of some of Keiko’s city-pop (or whatever) tracks. The singing is too fast, there is no proper flow, the melody is all over the place, it’s just outright chaotic. I am sure there are people who can appreciate this new experimental style but I am unfortunately not one of them. I generally don’t like giving low ratings but it is how it is, please know that this is purely subjective (Rating: 1/5)
M8. 明日を夢見て歌う(Asu wo Yume Mite Utau): The melody right at the beginning and sprinkled in-between the verses is what initially attracted me to the song, so pretty. However, the rest of the song didn’t leave a huge impression when I first heard it during the Christmas concert. I remember I compared it to “Boku Dake no Stage” because it was also composed by Takebe and I thought it was similarly bland. I realise now that this was a very unfair comparison because those songs have absolutely nothing in common. “Asu wo Yume Mite Utau” is much better imo and aligns more with my preferences in terms of music style. Maybe a comparison to “Toki wo Koeru Yoru ni” would have been better even though Takebe didn’t compose that one... Anyways, after letting the song marinate for a while, I’ve surprisingly come to love “Asu wo Yume Mite Utau”. I’d even go as far as to say it has become one of my favourite tracks from the album. The arrangement is lovely and so are the lyrics. Also adore Wakana’s singing here (Rating: 4/5)
M9. Flag: This is probably the most Kalafina/FictionJunction-esque track on the entire album so I understand why it is so popular among YK/Kalafina fans. Personally, I have never been the biggest fan of YK’s more generic anisongs so this track initially didn’t impress me all that much, it was just okay for me, nothing too outstanding. But after hearing it performed live multiple times, it has significantly grown on me. It’s a really solid song and it works perfectly with Wakana’s voice. Even though it might not be the type of music I naturally gravitate towards, it’s still a banger. Especially when you take the Kalafina nostalgia into account. Fun fact, the most recent version with Sakurada has made me add 0.5 points to my initial rating, it was just so good (Rating: 4/5).
M10. そのさきへ (Sono Saki e): Ughhh, I really wanted to love this song but so far my attempts have all failed. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to get into it. I mean, there must be something to love about it when I hear Wakana rave about the demo tape as if it were the best thing since sliced bread. What exactly is it about the melody that made her cry so much? It still baffles me that this was written by the same person who was responsible for “Kinmokusei” which I absolutely adore. There are some tiny similarities but all in all, “Sono Saki e” feels rather uninspired in comparison to “Kinmokusei”, at least in my opinion. Hearing it live during the release event has also not done anything to make me appreciate the song more. I am afraid it is a lost cause... (Rating: 2/5)
M11. あとひとつ (Ato Hitotsu): Nothing much to say here aside from the fact that I adore this song and I am really glad that it’s finally included in an official release. I prefer to hear it live but the studio recording is surprisingly touching too. So understated and yet so charming. I like how Wakana keeps referring to it as prayer, it’s a fitting description. Perfect delivery, as always (Rating: 5/5)
