Its kind of funny how there's like one extremely easy fix it route for Shen Jiu that almost no one takes and that's making him peak lord of Xian Shu instead of Qing Jing. You know he'd be so much happier and he'd love to kill any male disciples that look even slightly wrong at his girls. Granted this would probably also make him even more of a misandrist than he already is but atp I think that can be excused so

I like to think that when animals in the Grove had babies around springtime, the lot of them would bring them to Halsin first if they were inclined to bring them to anyone - like a cat taking her kittens to the human she trusts most to show them off.
And he would appropriately marvel at them and congratulate the mothers, or gently tease the new parents that they've responsibilities now, always with the softest murmur of awe in his voice, because no matter how many times he has been firsthand witness to new life over the centuries, it is always a blessed thing, and their trust means the world to him.

looking back I was heavily over-medicated for adhd as a kid. like i very much needed to be medicated, properly medicated, but I can't remember the number of times we went back to the doctor because of what were, in hindsight, medication side-effects, and the response was "oh the medication isn't working, let's try a higher dose." bitch i was vibrating
