i think i said something like this before but it is kind of upsetting how the idea of fatphobia is often mocked whenever someone (usually correctly) calls something fatphobic. how we're "too sensitive" about small comments about or weight (the comments being. really gross, a lot of the time) or how we just need to "suck it up" when things aren't built with fat people in mind. if that makes sense. (for example chairs being to narrow or like. very limited plus sized clothing being available (and the clothes that are available are either bad or expensive))

This was like yesterday but I'm still pissed about this and I think I deserve to be bitchy so rant ahead.
This bitch really just didnt like my hair because it was half up like it always is because otherwise I'm gonna have a fucking sensory overload about my hair touching my ears, but he doesnt like man buns so obviously his next course of action is telling me that I'm not cool for having a man bun and that I should keep my hair down. fatness in palia
(its gonna sound like i hate palia bc ppl dont understand the concept of nuance, so just to be clear - i decently like the game so far. things can be both good and bad, and some ppl, like me, enjoy analysing and criticising things without hating on the things.)
it rly bugs me that the only properly fat character so far in Palia is someone whos obsessing about his sandwiches and talking about how he always makes sure to eat properly, and *also*, is someone in a position of power who does bad things (the quest where we grew crops for him is the most clear example ive seen so far).
basically - the biggest fat man is a bad person who is obsessed with food.
delaila is big, but also falls into a stereotype - shes a countryside mom (often fat in media), and parent characters are generally easier for mainstream fatphobic media to design as fat bc theyre not intended to be attractive in the same way the younger characters are (or older men, see hodari and ashura).
i also want to point out that she reads as having a little more of a curvy body type compared to kenli whos more of a big ball, and that none of the female characters read as having the same type of facial fat or double chin that kenli has (which is indeed why im calling him the only properly fat character).
its almost as if that kind of facial/chin fat is considered worse on women than on men or something :)) wink wink.
ashura and sifuu are big, but read as "strong and muscular", not "a fat person". which any fat person will know is a significant difference in how you're perceived. (there is also an aspect here ofc of that irl, masculine-presenting "bulky and strong" ppl are often more positively perceived than feminine "bulky and strong" ppl, and that masculinity being seen as desirable in itself affects why "bulky and strong" is seen as desirable where "just fat" isnt, but this is a sidetrack rn.)
elouisa and caleri are... chubby, i guess? i was happy the first time i met caleri bc she had a visible double chin. but, after a bit of playing, seeing that there werent any fatter characters than this who were supposed to be seen as attractive or even good nice people, that enjoyment weighs little.
i also again want to point out that both elouisa and caleri have very "smooth" faces, and mostly "conventionally attractive" features, essentially. they are chubby/curvy, but not in ways that would be considered *too* far off from the fatphobic, ageist, sexist beauty standards of society. they also have basically hourglass bodies.
the characters that we are mainly "supposed" to find attractive in this game - the romanceable ones - range from very skinny to "fit".
there is even a romanceable skinny robot, notably not a romanceable fat robot (hekla is round, reads as the fat mom stereotype, and is not romanceable - einar is tall and slender and kinda built like a dorito, and, oh, presents more masculine... even robots arent free from misogynist and fatphobic design).
there is also a non-romanceable character that apparently both characters in the game and many players find hot, which is a non-fat man, hodari. i note this bc he's presented as an attractive character, and is not fat.
its nice to see an older(?) female character presented as attractive - tamala, however she is very skinny and with an hourglass type build. this is still... nice, i guess, but in the context of the lack of "attractive characters" that arent really skinny, or muscular, or hourglass shaped.....
another related issue is that a very skinny character, jel.... literally says things like "i havent eaten for 3 days". wow! thats lovely! especially together with kenli obsessing over food! and together with an average size character, jina, also mentioning she forgets to eat. that made me feel gross to read, and i dont think its a good choice to put "lol forgetting to eat, relatable content" in the dialogue of characters who are very skinny. this can be a bad reinforcement of society's abuse ("just starve yourself and you'll be skinny and beautiful!") for people with eating disorders and for ppl who struggle with their weight and with their relation to food in general.
but *especially* when the biggest character is, in contrast, talking about how hes obsessing over his sandwiches and whatever (and again - is a bad person and also not supposed to be attractive, while jel and jina are supposed to be attractive and romanceable).
this is also obviously a reinforcement of prejudice against fat ppl - that fat ppl eat too much, cant control their eating, are always thinking about food, etc etc, while skinny ppl ~forgot to eat lol~.
all in all, if anyone reads this, i just hope ppl can acknowledge and be aware to the fatphobia that has gone into the design of this game, *just like basically every other game*. im not saying palia is worse than other games, bc frankly, most games are like this, and its gross and weird and i hate that. but its still valid to discuss that problem in the context of one game, without implying that its an issue that only affects that game.
i hope that at the very least, they will eventually add in more body types to the character creator that also represent bigger people, and that potentially, we might see some attractive fat characters as npcs in the future. and no, their faces dont need to be slimmed down compared to their bodies to be attractive! they can have unsmooth faces and double chins and wrinkles and still be attractive! and they can have all that and not be men, and be attractive! and they dont need to have hourglass bodies nor to be muscular and strong to be attractive, either!

both kyle and cartman joined the debate club in high school. kyle thought it would help him with his public speaking skills and improve his critical thinking, meanwhile cartman was just looking for an opportunity to release the anger and stress he had and fucking destroy someone in a verbal fight.
and – uh-oh, such a coincidence – they both joined it at the same time without knowing it.
kyle was obviously pissed off, and he was actually thinking of quitting, because the idea of spending school hours arguing with cartman didn’t really seem appealing to him, but eventually his pride wouldn’t let him simply give up.
“I can be in any club I want, and I won’t let Cartman fucking ruin it for me! You’ll see, dude, he’ll drop out in one or two meetings when I absolutely win him in a debate!” as he then explained to stan.
kyle was preparing for the first debate harder than for any of his normal school activities. he would spend nights perfecting his reasoning and making a plan for his speech, until he was absolutely sure cartman had zero chances to win.
the theme was something controversial like, i’m not sure, politics or something, and kyle was totally sure that cartman would come unprepared, because he hates anything homework-like, and he ususally prefers improvising.
he was wrong, though, as cartman has been preparing. he entered the classroom with a small stack of papers with his reasoning on them, he was smiling brightly and joking, and kyle for the first time felt insecure about his skills. he felt rather nervous as he knew that cartman’s charisma and the ability to tell lies in the blink of his eye made kyle look worse in a debate, but he still hoped the teacher had some common sense and wouldn’t let cartman blind them with his confident smiles and fake politeness.
but the nervous anxious feeling in kyle’s chest wouldn’t go away, so when cartman started speaking, kyle couldn’t just stay quiet, sighing irritatedly when cartman said things like “violence is bad”. as kyle knew damn well that’s not what cartman actually thought.
so when the debate was coming to its end and cartman was giving another hypocritical speech, kyle just couldn’t be silent anymore, interrupting cartman with his new counter arguments (and adding some insults as well). cartman, of course, lost his temper too, and the constructive discussion instantly became a heated bickering. teachers tried to stop it but when kyle and cartman are fighting literally nothing can distract them.
cartman: Look, capitalism is just the natural way of things. It's the perfect system, without it everything would fall apart!
kyle: How can you be sooo blind and ignorant to everything?! Capitalism breeds inequality, it's the reason behind a lot of problems in our society, you just don't know it because you haven't experienced all the struggles, you fat privileged fuck!
cartman: Oh, I’m privileged?? Well, you’re just a whiny jew who can't handle the truth. You're just jealous your greedy ass can't make money yourself!
kyle: Shut up, Cartman, I’m warning you!
after a few antisemitic-fatphobic-homophobic slurs they were both kicked out and banned from entering the club again.
they both seemed disappointed and annoyed by it, but cartman had a smug smirk on his face, feeling proud of making kyle mad.
they wouldn’t stop their fight though, arguing all the way back home, without being pressured or watched, and kyle caught himself thinking that arguing with cartman is pretty, well, addicting and he might actually be enjoying it.
at the end they decided it’s a tie, and for the goodbye cartman says something like “Well, you’re annoying as fuck, but I gotta hand it to you, you’re good at debating. Who even needs that stupid club, anyway?”
and kyle smiles, nodding. “Next week, the same time” he says already walking away from Cartman.
and they meet again, choosing a topic and preparing for the debate by themselves because they don’t need a club to argue with each other.

weenie hut jr made my isaac callout post inaccessible for some reason. so now im back to being annoyed
enjoy having to hear me rant like a madman (fuck you tumblr staff)
im assuming people that have been on miiblr for at least a month or two know exactly who isaacthemii is, or at least im hoping so. if not, dw i gotchu. he would post things kind of in the same wheelhouse of what zorrpu posts (like tomodachi collection, miitomo, shitposts, etc etc). thats all i really know about him since i've only spoken to him a handful of times outside of our miis and aus.
now heres where i really get into the meat of the post where i slowly start to lose my shit.
so, i introduced one of my miis, Tootsie (aka Miiblr's selected mascot) to Isaac. he somehow got his hands on the tootsie ai bot, and sent me an ask complaining about how he apparently bullied isaac and called him bitchless (which mind you. everything the ai bots say is made up, and isaac took it to heart, which will probably explain his transphobia and dehumanization towards him.)
at first, isaac had no idea tootsie was a male. but the transphobia and dehumanization slowly starts to suspiciously get more consistent, mind you.
(i will obviously not show the video isaac sent. but its literally his miisona beating tootsie up, i kid you not. and i say it feels so fatphobic to me because for some reason thought itd be funny to make tootsie look fat, which clearly wasnt in my case.)
at first. i didnt worry about it too much. since i thought that he was just joking for the most part. but i was very uncomfortable with how he was mistreating my miis.
later on. isaac got banned on the miicord server, after fighting with @starbitedreamworld (aka the delightful cyrus to my reese <33)
later that week. isaac made an alt account, ban evading like. 4-8 times i kid you not. (it makes it all the more pathetic that he told people to oof themselves, only to come back and make a half assed apology post. cue the toxic gossip train music!!)
later on. isaac made a WHOOOOOLE other account on tumblr, trying to piss off miiblr even more by not taking accountability and not giving two trucks about his transphobia. which at that point, i was slowly starting to get from annoyed to just. angry.
let me just say, hes tried to interact with me MULTIPLES of times after i already told him i was uncomfortable with him near me and my miis. can i just say the amount of red flags this guys shows of TRANSPHOBIA??? theres no way you can do this on accident. let me just recap what isaac has done:
*made multiples of nsfw jokes about other peoples mine and other peoples miis
*told people to oof themselves
*ban evaded numerous of times
*stalked me and other peoples accounts, to the point where he was driven by literal obsession
*never took accountability for his actions
*never apologized for his transphobia
chances are. isaac will probably make another alt account soon. so i highly, HIGHLY advise you to stay cautious with any new miiblr blogs. keeping isaac in miiblr is at this point a liability and theres way too much crap going on to not make a call out post on him bruh

I just found a book about ''women who dressed as men in history'' and I'm ready to fire my transgenderification beam at it.
Mind you, I did use some criteria, like for how long they ''crossdressed'', if they only did it for a specific reason and then stopped immediately after, etc...

Even worse, the book implies that after his hysterectomy, he just HAD to become a man, because what is a woman without her precious uterus 🥺 Amirite ladies?? Feminism!).
So, yeah, you get the kind of crowd.

Frank, a Canadian-born immigrant, lived as a man for about 15 years before being discovered due to a tuberculosis check. We don't know much about him, but apparently, he was let go after being discovered, so I hope all went well for him.
Nillo Pino - Italy (1868 - 1968) (told you I'd find Italian trans men)
Nillo lived 23 years as a woman and 77 as a man and died at 100 years old. He was the curator of a tuff quarry in Sicily.
There aren't many records of him, but it's reported that he changed his name on the register, changed his sex marker, wore a band around his chest, and ''peed like a woman'' (sidenote: how do they know this??)

I think he might be a little better known, but here goes anyway.
Murray Hall was a Scottish immigrant and a politician in NY, and apparently, no one in his life knew he was AFAB.
His family continued to respect his pronouns and identity after his death, which is why I loooove that this book misgenders him. That was sarcastic, by the way.

Victor was born in Jersey and reports say ''he always wished he had been born a boy''.
He left his husband and children and moved into the Grand Hotel in Brighton with his lover, Miss Elfrida Haward, whom he married under ''false name'', aka with his preferred name.
He was a member of the National Fascisti, which as a footnote I'm not forgiving nor forgetting, I'm adding it because I feel like it shouldn't be left out, and because I want people to know this, if they wanna look into his life.
He was arrested for bankruptcy, theft, and forging his marriage certificate.
Alexander Durov, Alexander Sokolov, or Alexander Andreevich Alexandrov - Russia (1783 - 1866)
Alexander was the son of a Russian major and spent most of his childhood among the army men.
He abandoned his husband and child and enlisted in 1807 in the Polish Horse Regiment, where he saved the lives of two fellow soldiers and later received medals and full honors.
He continued to dress as a man for the rest of his life.
There are many other people named in this book, which I'll link but it's in Italian, but like I said it's not worth reading it. Anyone who calls Dr. Barry or Billy Tipton women is not worth listening to, in my opinion.

I think they think it's a dig to Joe, because of the whole pain and trauma bit as in he didn't wanna marry her, she was dying inside because of it and the relationship not going well so rumours of them being married caused her all that pain. It's not new information by any means but it just makes swifties enraged because he didn't wanna marry her and who wouldn't etc etc. Not gonna lie to you, seeing everything that happened since April and how Taylor herself has been handling it herself I would have doubts myself and if anything I don't think he regrets his decision at all. Imagine how much of a nightmare it would be if kids were involved? Would we have a Joe Jonas and Sophie media war kind of thing?
It's sad for me to say this but Taylor and her friends are in mid thirties right now and it's expected you have grown out of some high school like behaviours. Liking tiktoks and posts and trying to shade your ex is like...at this point one would know better to do the shit talk in private. There's also a big power inbalance here, Taylor and her friends are not regular people, they are celebrities so all these things don't have an audience of 10 people. Even if Joe said something, he has even less power in the public eye than Calvin so everyone would destroy him. He knows that for certain, Taylor knows too and is so incredibly shitty she's putting him in that position. It sucks that he hurt you, but he's also a human being with family and friends who hurt for him. His family also just suffered a family member's death last month so I think they are also not 100% mentally ok right now. You're putting him in a worse position than the one you once were in. Is that like some kind of joke to re-enact reputation but this time she's the one starting a hate wave towards the person she credited so much for helping her ride hers?
you know what's also interesting? Travis ex implied he was with her and strung her along with the marriage thing too. But swifties response is/was that he wasn't sure because she wasn't the one for him like Taylor is. And sure that could be true, but makes you think he did the same thing or similar to what they think Joe did or didn't do and in this case because it's Taylor and they don't think he can get anyone better than her you don't see anyone saying well maybe he didn't wanna marry her, because he was also not sure she was the one
the fact that they do not see taylor as a human and admit that she might have flaws that dont make her a perfect partner and joe committed the cardinal sin of not forcing himself into a marriage is insane to me, and its also insane that literally anyone cares about this. like move on. but sadly it's almost impossible to move on because taylor keeps reminding us lol. and she knows he cant say anything, she knows shes got an army of millions who are so brainwashed they cant even think for themselves at this point.
and their extreme bias toward travis is insane. they turn a blind eye to everything he does because they think hes a god or something now. if it was discovered joe was excited to meet trump, made fatphobic tweets, called women breeders, played for a racist team that vocally supported Israel, etc..... i have a weird feeling it wouldnt get brushed over like it is for travis.

Okay but re: the Vil post
I agree but I get why he gets characterized like that
1. He clearly holds strong to some restrictive beauty standards (though to be fair we really only see them directed at himself. Not to get on my “Vil has an ED” soapbox but I mean. *gestures to his labwear vignette*)
2. We’ve seen him hold Epel to a bullshit standard (the fucking accent thing it pisses me off because that’s my dialect too and there’s nothing unprofessional about it! “There’s a time and place for hometown pride” he shouldn’t have to force an accent it’s totally bullshit and considering the stigma around southern accents is based in classism and racism it’s all kinds of fucked up. I know that it’s an en translation thing and in jp it’s mainly about his lack of manners/honorifics but most of these are coming from en only players and even when you do know better it’s hard to get over the feelings)

i know the accent thing is a touchy subject and honestly i hated him for a while because of that too, but i feel like we as a fandom need to hate the WRITERS for that and not vil. he literally just wanted epel to stop using crude language and the translation fucked that up. its the writer's fault, not vil's character. i do see where youre coming from though because at the end of day, no matter how stupid the translation was, vil being rude about epel's accent is part of eng server canon.

Need to rant.
I spent an hour and a half working on The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. I only got 50 pages in. The reading is easy, but I’m annotating a LOT so it’s going super slow.
But I’m annotating a lot to remind myself of all the bullshit, so I can properly roast it. There are some good ideas and points in there but omg he sounds like an insufferable asshole writing a book for himself, ignoring that other people can have totally valid ways of being. Fatphobic undertones, implying there are definitely good values and like, limited ways to correctly prioritize them. I’m now 45% through. I am hate-reading at this point, and I’m torn between:
do I just want to finish it off quickly from here on out? (he has started going into specific things that are negative that he thinks everybody should value highly, versus talking more about his general philosophy)
Or do I want to keep going through slowly making notes ripping him apart.
On one hand: I’m definitely enraged and I kinda want it to end because it’s so irritatingly wrong. On the other hand: i want to give it such a scathing review because of its wrongness that I want to have everything wrong with it detailed meticulously because I enjoy that level of thoroughness.
I’m hoping there will be less to annotate tbh.

Self Aware#when he is like 25% there and doesn’t go any further himself#confuses values and metrics#and while he says we can change both of those he basically only goes into why some values are bad and why his values now are the best#values are not good or bad inherently IMO#but sometimes we do confuse values and metrics#and something we say we value we actually are using as a metric for a different value#or like we have untrue thoughts about how to measure that value#I’ll do another ranty review when I’m done

mmm i dont know how to portray alon. its weird because he canonically (both in fiction canon and as a collective member / system alter) has so many different body types. like i LOVE drawing him fat and happy but also im very into bara.
and like idk maybe this is too forward thinking but if anyone (read: strangers) suddenly get all up in arms about me drawing him thin and accusing me as fatphobic (which. i understand that being fat ≠ not fatphobic); its just blatantly not true. i love being fat and large, dude.
but maybe im worrying too much. its mostly because i just like being me. i dont give a fuck about surgery scars for akku because he's also a shapeshifter and he doesnt need scars.
like. look. i dont care about many things but i see stupid discourse all the time and its maybe affecting me receently.
i should just draw whatever the fuck i want for my ocs i think.
