Anon my beloved!! You're right, there isn't a ton of Kinn in this fic (yet!!) Because of that, I don't have a ton of plans for him yet, and at the moment he won't even have his own PoV chapters, so IDK what's going to be going on there. I haven't fully decided. Disclaimer that anything is subject to change, but here are some ideas!

Firs off, Kinn is devastated when Kim disappears. He loses both his lover and his brother in a very short span of time, and is told one or both of them also betrayed his trust, and. We see how that works out for him in canon lol. It turns him into someone very cold and cruel that doesn't trust anyone.

I think Korn has known the entire time where Kim is/who he's with. Or if not know, at least suspected. Porsche knows way too much about his business, and it's too coincidental with Kim's disappearance. The question is whether or not he's going to share that information with Kinn. I'm torn. On the one hand, he could play off Kim's disappearance and fake his death. That would keep Kinn focused on work instead of trying to track Kim down. On the other hand, he could be framing it like Kim betrayed them, trying to sew discord between the brothers in case Kim every tries to come home. But I don't think that would work on Kinn for very long, he's full of too much love for his family. He would still want an explanation from Kim.

It's also imperative to the plot that Kinn has no idea Kim is with Porsche. The way I want the KinnPorsche to work out, they have a very antagonistic professional relationship/rivalry.

Kinn is already furious when he finds out Porsche knew where his brother was all this time. Years. Smiling to his face, acting friendly, flirting with him. Only to go home and bend his little brother over the nearest surface. (And yes, that is a roadblock for KinnPorsche, even though KimChay aren't bothered by it. It was pretty normalized for Chay, but Kinn is having a Very Hard Time.)

Okay I got sidetracked. (so much for answering mysteriously, eh?) Anyway. All that to say, Porsche hides Kim from Kinn. The way he sees it, Kim was in bad shape when he turned up on Porsche's door, clearly running from something bad, and he was an adult capable of making his own decision. So he's going to go along with it. But then between Kim obviously missing his brother (and pretending he doesn't), and Kinn's well-concealed grief, still putting out feelers bc he refuses to accept Kim is gone, Porsche decides he needs to get them back together. Kim refuses, but then something happens that kind of forces their hand: he runs straight into Kinn.

Then there's a KinnPorsche confrontation. Now that there's undeniable proof of where Kim is, Korn starts telling Kinn all the awful things Porsche must have been doing to him all this time, holding him prisoner, abusing him, etc. That doesn't fit with the Porsche Kinn knows, but surely there's Nothing Else.

Korn sees this as a way to eliminate a rival family that's gotten way too powerful. Eventually Kim's information is too out of date to be helpful anymore, but he's still an intelligent little schemer, and he becomes Porsche's most trusted advisor. And ofc Kim's priority is always to ruin his father's business as much as possible, so Korn is eager to be rid of him.

So, yeah! There's occasional KinnPorsche interactions, but not too much. Just enough for Kinn to feel betrayed when he finally finds Kim. Esp. when he finds Kim very much playing the part of sex slave (for Chay, at this point), and thinks the things Korn has told him must be true. And it doesn't help that Kim refuses to come anywhere near him; Kinn thinks he's been Stockholm Syndromed.

If any of you don't know the context of this ask;

Basically, a while back I used the program AI Dungeon to generate a hot take for fun;

That's the program they use for those chaotic AI videos you find on youtube, like the ai ace attorney clown case and the sonic destruction scripts, which has some absolutely wild moments like these

I just put in a couple one-sentence questions to see what it would give me, not really expecting anything. But the take it did finally give me was not only completely depraved, but also felt like such a weirdly personal attack on me specifically that it left me genuinely speechless.

So, even though I didn't originally intend to do this, I decided to secretly make a poll for it claiming it was a submission, because I thought it might be fun to see if you guys could guess which one of the polls was the fake one, Blade Runner style.

I generated the take on the same day that submissions originally closed, but I only came clean about it last night because I started to feel super guilty about it after reading the vocaloid discourse - but the way I did it was vague, shitty and insincere.

I know it was 4 in the morning and I said I was going to get some sleep when I made the post last night, but after I saw the asks I immediately got about that post - like this one - I instead deleted it after like 2 minutes and spent the next 4-5 hours scouring the internet for as much information about this as I could find so I could get the full picture. This isn't the first time I fucked up on this blog because I didn't do my research, so I think I massively overcompensated - I really didn't want a repeat of that time the master post accidentally triggered multiple people's OCD; I still feel awful about that.

And as a result, I ended up passing out on my bathroom floor, which is why you haven't heard from me in a while.

I did genuinely read all the vocaloid discourse (asks, replies, notes, all of it) - but since I pulled this stunt ages ago, and the secret poll is already up, it was already too late. And it was because of that vocaloid discourse that I felt like it would just make me a hypocrite if I just swept it under the rug and kept quiet while everyone else was talking about the exact same subject, so I decided to just tell you guys as soon as possible because I'd feel shitty if I didn't - but I still phrased that post in a more light-hearted way because that was what I originally intended this whole thing to be, which was definitely a mistake, and I can't apologise enough for that.

And I know I didn't clarify this in that original post, but like I said, the program I used was AI Dungeon, which was something I remembered having fun with back in 2019/2020, spending hours generating unhinged Ace Attorney cases; and I remembered I still had an account from back then when it was still free to play, even though I hadn't touched it in 4 years - and I realised I would still be able to bypass the paywall using it.

I'd also just watched those snapcube Sonic Destruction videos that I linked above and it reminded me of that. And I dug up those old AI Dungeon Ace Attorney cases that I had generated and then recreated in objection i.o. back when I was 17/18, and had been sitting on my old computer's hard drive for ever since - and they still made me smile a little. So that's how I got the impulse to do this.

And that's also why, even though I knew about the writer's strike and do fully support it, it just didn't occur to me that the AI that gave us that same insane Sonic Destruction script that I'd just watched would be one of the programs the writers were striking over - I just assumed that it was only programs like ChatGPT, that can produce coherent scripts based on the accumulated information users feed into it; because those are programs that could definitely potentially be used to replace human writers. That's something AI Dungeon can't do, because it doesn't retain user input after you shut it down.

So I just saw AI Dungeon as that goofy ass confused AI that I loved as a kid, the one that provides insanely weird responses out of the blue as it desperately tries to cobble together a narrative, and it was used in videos that I still really like. And I thought it would be fine.

That was how I justified it at the time - but in hindsight, given how much I hate other GPT programs like ChatGPT, as well as AI art and all other generated content overall, it just makes me even more of a stupid hypocrite for making an exception for this one simply because I was blinded by nostalgia, and not bothering to look it up back then like I should've done. Because at the end of the day, a GPT program is a GPT program.

SO - Here's what I found online while reading up on it last night:

Because of the outdated GPT model AI Dungeon runs on, it isn't possible from a technical standpoint for it to learn like ChatGPT does. Even though it still uses a dataset, as far as I can tell it genuinely can't add to that dataset from user input except for when it explicitly asks for feedback (rarely, it will generate two responses instead of one, and ask you to pick the best one so it can learn - but you can turn that feature off.) And while it does try to learn while you're using it, it can't carry that information over between sessions. So even if you reload the same page again, it won't retain what it learned last time.

(Here's some information I found while combing ancient reddit threads that explains this better than I can)

But even if all of that is true, it doesn't matter.

Latitude, the developers of AI Dungeon, are super fucking scummy, and you shouldn't support them.

If you want to look up all of the many, many controversies surrounding AI Dungeon, you can - but I won't link them here, because serious content warnings apply.

Do not use this program.

I really hope the anon who sent this ask - and everyone else who called me out on this - stuck around, because I am so, so grateful that you all sent these, otherwise I probably would never have known.

I deleted the post almost instantly (because like I said, it was too light-hearted), and I'm really glad I did. And I swear I won't pull this shit again.

I know a lot of you hate the fact that I did this - that original post genuinely got me blocked by more of you guys than every single one of the polls combined - which is totally fair, and I wouldn't blame any of you for doing the same now.

I really just want to move on from this - but I can't just pretend that it didn't happen.

Support the writer's strike, don't use any AI programs.

so a lot of people headcanon lily as this very confident, plus sized women, but hear me out

lily always tries to seem very confident and accepting of her weight, in hope that other plus sized girls would feel more comfortable in their own skin

however, it's really hard for her to genuinely be excepting of her weight sometimes

sometimes the fatphobic comments start to get her, and she really does start to wonder if it's a genuine problem

even in the Wizarding world she doesn't escape the hateful comments most people that don't fit societal beauty standards are subjected to

while of course her closest friends (Mary, Dorcas, and Marlene) thought she was perfect as is, most men didn't exaclty think the same

she always reassured them she didn't mind, but deep down, it hurt her a lot

was she only going to be seen as beautiful if she was skinny? she often wondered about this, and believed she may never find a man that actually saw every inch of her as beautiful without changing her weight

ofc, being herself, she didn't tell anyone of these thoughts. she still wanted to set an example for others, even if sometimes she struggled with harmful thoughts herself. it'd be worth it if even one other plus sized girl looked at her and thought even people like them, often laughed at and made fun of, could be beautiful and confident despite beauty standards regarding weight (so lily thought)

one school year, the staring, comments, and rudeness finally fully got to her.

she started eating less and less, causing her to become physically sick and lightheaded most of times.

Marlene and Mary were quick to notice, but nothing they said got through to her. not even their constant pestering for her to eat more often to stay healthy

Y'all spoil me tremendously with this sort of encouragement. XD

(This is a response to my tag novel on this post about what people's Tavs/Durges would wear to their wedding.)

I really s2g I am going to write this Avernus fic at some point which I fully intend to be a longish collection of one-shots eventually leading to Karlach and Hector having a happily-ever-after which would include all this. (I have the first chapter of another Jaheira-related fic in the cooker rn and then the Avernus fic's first chapter will be up next; I'm trying to rotate my longfics a bit. XD ) So... this is all obviously subject to change based on how that fic eventually plays out.

However, with this minute bit of prompting I will indulge myself in some weapons-grade Hector/Karlach Fluff anyway. :D This is less a full fic and more some random snippets/headcanons about them getting married and afterwards.

They have a first official "commitment" to each other, sometime after arriving in Avernus. Once they're safely installed in the House of Hope as their headquarters and start settling in for the long-haul war against Zariel, they take some time to themselves in an abandoned wing of the building and make private vows to each other. (Think something like this scene from Aerie's romance in ToB.) Neither of them calls it a marriage, but deep down they both know they mean it just as strongly.

It's kind of a tossup that they will leave Avernus until right before they do; their several years of guerilla warfare in the Hells culminates in a massive multipart raid on Zariels' main headquarters; Zariel is killed along with a number of her main lieutenants, and the group gets away with a defecting infernal blacksmith and blueprints for upgrades to Karlach's heart that will allow her to finally return home.

(It's Cespenar. The infernal blacksmith is Cespenar. @rhysintherain generously donated this idea and I'm not letting go of it. XD )

Their first few weeks back in the Material Plane are spent reconnecting with friends, finding a place to live in the city, and generally being a bit shell-shocked that they actually made it out, but eventually they start trying to make real plans for the future.

They're both huge saps, and Karlach has been denied so many traditional life events because of her time in the Hells, so even though they're basically already married, Hector definitely makes a big deal out of the proposal. He STUDIES the subject deeply to try and do it right, combing through all of Baldur's Gates libraries for examples of romantic gestures, and enlists Wyll's help.

(Wyll has shipped them aggressively this whole time and is super excited about the romance of it all. I haven't decided on the details of who, but he also got involved with someone during their time in the Hells so he's not alone either, bc Wyll deserves nice things to happen to him also. <3)

With Wyll's help, Hector arranges a trip outside the city to an inn that sits on a very tall hilltop. He does his "official" proposal while they're having a picnic at a spot that has a beautiful view of the entire city, from the Outer City on in. It's super romantic and they're both giant saps about it. They both cry. (And then have sex behind some nearby bushes in a lovestruck haze.)

They don't really plan a huge ceremony. Mostly it's about having all their friends there (even dragging Lae'zel back from the Astral), and making the same commitment publicly that they made privately years earlier.

Karlach becomes oddly nervous about it as the event draws closer. She has a very slight superstitious streak and is still after all these years gunshy of how her life went so fast to shit all at once, and part of her feels like making it "official" is asking for something bad to happen. Hector spends a lot of time being comforting and reassuring her.

They have a night wedding. This is Karlach's idea - she knows Hector has missed the moonlight and its associated connection with Selune in all the time they've spent in the Hells, even though he'd never complain about it, so she ensures that their wedding will be under the night sky on a night when the moon will be full or near so.

He insists, as a counterpoint, that she picks the location - she decides on a place in the Outer City near where she grew up, against the water.

Father Enric, the Abbot from Hector's monastery, travels to the city to officiate. There's no best man/maid of honor concept, but all of their companions from the Absolute adventure are lined up as part of the ceremony, as well as a few friends made during the campaign in Avernus.

The ringbearer is Buddy the owlbear, bearing the rings very carefully on a pillow resting on his head.

Wyll and Shadowheart take the lead on dressing the couple, neither of whom have the faintest clue how to put together an ensemble. (I spent way too long getting these screenshots so please appreciate how pretty my babies look. XD )

Karlach, contrary to all expectations, really enjoys getting gussied up in a dress and looking pretty; it's not an everyday thing for her but she enjoys it. Hector, conversely, feels INCREDIBLY out of his element in the fancy jacket Wyll arranges for him. Wyll teases him quite a bit about it while they're waiting for the ceremony to start.

The absolute cutest part of the whole ceremony, by unanimous vote from everyone present, is that they do the whole thing where the bride and groom aren't supposed to see each other before the ceremony. Jaheira and Shadowheart hang out with Karlach helping her get ready, and Wyll and Halsin hang out with Hector, and both groups report back later that their charges repeatedly tried to escape custody to go find each other early.

When Hector does finally see her as the ceremony is starting, he goes completely slackjawed and just stares at her like he cannot believe his luck.

Karlach forgets her lines halfway through the vows and just kisses him anyway. Hector remembers them all perfectly (of course) - he just forgets to speak when it's his turn because he's so busy looking at her with the biggest puppy dog eyes. He keeps trying to go for his usual super-composed vibe and just failing utterly.

All in all it's just a massive sap-fest. Both of them feel like they've earned it, though, after everything they've been through. (Hector does feel a little embarrassed that Enric sees him acting like such a dope and not showing any of his usual self-discipline. Enric thinks it's sweet though.)

They have a big party at a local tavern afterwards, one Karlach hung out at as a teenager all the time. The innkeeper still remembers her and gives them drinks on the house and everyone gets sloshed off their asses. Hector and Karlach try to dance and both of them are pretty not great at it but neither seems to much care.

They get back home at about four in the morning, still trashed. Both of them are exhausted and ready to fall asleep at a moment's notice, but Karlach mumbles something jokingly about not wanting to miss out on her wedding night. So they end up kind of curling up together and having drowsy, tipsy, super-soft sex, drifting in and out of sleep, extremely happy.

Neither of them really can think of anywhere they'd rather be, nor do they have a day job to take a vacation from, so they don't really have a honeymoon. But nobody sees hide nor hair of them after the ceremony for a good week. XD

First off, i'm glad that this account is continuing to thrive! Even though I have been a bit too busy to update the queue I have worked to check each and every tag if I can!

I'm getting there with Lights Camera Pants at the moment though working through putting up some flash games as well to hopefully not drown everything in TOO much Lights Camera Pants haha.

I'm thinking about direct links to videos I'm getting materials from now. I have a current queue of 217 images which at my current rate will take a while to reach 0. I still have some stuff in the queue that was from all the way I started. I'm wondering if to wait for the queue to deplete or if I should start linking now. It might be confusing based on how I do my postings since I love to click that shuffle queue button after getting a bunch of images. I will still obviously be updating my FAQ but I'm wondering if I should go a little step further. I haven't fully decided yet but if I end up just going with links now you might see a lot of stuff in the queue that isn't fully linked mixed with stuff that is.

Things i'm considering for the blog also: Fan games, Mods, and Games that Include Spongebob. For each of these - unlike the main games - I will try to include a note that categorizes them based on these descriptors. Aka I'll note if they are not official Spongebob games or are games that use Spongebob's likeness

FAN GAMES:

This one is going to be the most vague admittedly and hard to define as what I apply as applicable to this blog. I understand that most Spongebob fan games lately are horror material or may contain mature topics. Even games that I was considering (If you've seen my FAQ you know i'm familiar with Around The Clock At Bikini Bottom.) may contain swearing, death, horror material, etc. So it's sorta matter of would these sorts of subject matters are befitting to this blog or not.

Though there are some games - at least right now - I'm gonna sorta avoid putting on just because they're a little too out of the realm of Spongebob. Stuff like Mr. Krabs Overdoses on Ketamine, SpongeGlock SquarePants, and Sinister Squidward. Also, some of them are just a little TOO MUCH for me lol (especially Sinister Squidward.)

Also, let's be honest, there are a lot of SpongeBob games out there that's made by younger audiences (Which I don't want to bully) or by greedy scammers trying to get money by putting Spongebob on a bike game or creepy dentist game (Which I don't want to give attention to.)

MODS

For Mods I will not be doing just simple reskins (unless the reskin is large in scale such as BFBB Winter Wonderland and Battle for Boo-kini Bottom.) Aka I won't pick mods where it's just Spongebob in Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic in BFBB. I'll probably pick ones that are specifically mods for Spongebob games.

When approaching this particular subject i'm thinking of stuff such as BFBBMix but I understand there are probably not a lot of Spongebob mods under those sorts of criteria.

SPONGEBOB-INVOLVED

This is just a coined term for things that include Spongebob in some way such as Nicktoons Unite! / Spongebob Squarepants and Friends Unite!. I'd probably skip on material that doesn't have much to actually offer in content (Nicktoons Racing, Nicktoons Party Blast, Nicktoons MLB.). I want to use games where Spongebob characters have an actual impact on the game through dialogue or story (so things such as All-Star Brawl 2 Campaign could count since each of the characters has active dialogue!) However, i'll try to keep the focus on Spongebob and Spongebob characters!

XXVI: Leo Survives the Vibe Check

After Lee died, Michael took his place as senior counselor. During the funerals, Lily and I stay with our friend, and a weakened Nico follows us around quietly. I decide to share my plan with them.

Lily shakes her head miserably. "Achilles passed and Heracles turned into a God, they can't help."

"I wasn't talking about them."

"You said a child of Olympus might be our solution," Mike frowns.

"Yeah, what if we make a new one?"

They stare at me like I've gone mad. "Ara, to be considered at all, you'd have to—"

"Be a jack of all trades," I nod. "And as sturdy as a radioactive roach."

"Sounds fun," Nico mumbles. He's half-asleep, and I'm not sure he's truly listening.

Lily gazes at my brother and her sister. "Percy has a prophecy to fulfill, and Annabeth—"

"I want to try it."

Silence. The kind that comes after someone says something so nuts you don't even process it. I continue before they can stomp all over my idea.

"You've trained me well, at a higher level than most demigods and I... I think I know from where Almighty comes from."

"I'm not getting it," Mike says.

"I've been dreaming about this," I explain. "The children of Olympus."

"Make amends with your past", Pan had said. I've been given an opportunity to succeed where others didn't. I don't understand why me, when so many skilled demigods could take the title, but Aphrodite's words come to mind: Love is at the core of everything... Even war.

Someone knocks on the trapdoor and pushes it open. Ara knows who it is just by the sound of the footsteps.

Annabeth enters the attic fully. "I don't understand why you like it here. You remember this is where we used to keep a mummy, right?"

"The mummy wasn't the creepiest thing in our collection," Ara points over her shoulder before returning to the laurel crown. "The horrors are endless."

Annabeth sits next to her, now both are staring at the gold crown. "That doesn't explain why you come here."

"I come here because it's packed with stuff some demigods considered meaningful—but now all those memories and people are gone. One day, someone will look at these laurels and they won't know anything about me, except that I once wore them."

"And that makes you feel... good?"

"It's not about feeling good," the girl looks back at her. "The prophecy of the seven... I'm not part of it. I'm trying to understand why."

Annabeth sighs and rubs her eyes. "I don't know, Ara. You look after the Olympians, you won't get a greater honor than that."

"And that stresses me out," she frowns. "You're telling me I reached my peak at fourteen? This is all I'll ever get?"

"Ara, I've known you since we were little girls," Annabeth raises a brow. "Your life right now is good, what's the problem with that? You got clues about Percy, you're keeping our home safe, and you got us a new guardian..."

"New guardian?"

"Yeah," Annabeth grins. "Pollo."

Ara chuckles. "You talked to Leo?"

"He's crazy, but nice," the older girl hums. "You two make sense as partners."

She clears her throat. "I... I'm not his partner, not really."

"We both know you won't resist the temptation to work in the Argo II," Annabeth teases her. "Soon enough you'll be all over Leo."

Ara blushes at her wording, she looks away and hugs her knees. "Dunno, he's pretty controlling about his creations..."

"He likes you, though," the girl says casually. "And he gets you, doesn't he? The part of you that always weirded us out."

Ara tries to see if Annabeth's insinuating something, but her voice sounds forthcoming, so the girl guesses Annabeth has no idea what she's doing to Ara with that sort of statement.

"I haven't called my mother," she comments, trying to change the subject. "To tell her I'm still alive."

"Did she know you left?"

Ara stares at her. "You didn't tell her?"

Annabeth shakes her head. "Two kids in life-threatening situations can't be good for her heart, didn't think it'd be a good idea."

"But... It's protocol."

"Only when it's a difficult quest," Annabeth's eyes with pride. "We knew you'd come back alive."

Ara's eyes get teary, but she tries to shrug it off. "Well, I'll call her tomorrow anyway. I miss her."

"You should visit during Christmas."

She clears her throat. "Yeah, maybe."

"Can't promise it'll be fun, but..."

"No yeah, I miss my dad too."

Annabeth places one hand on her shoulder. "Hey, since Rachel is also staying, we should do a girls' night like old times."

"Old times," Ara snorts. "We started doing those four months ago."

"That means we haven't had one in like three months," she smirks. "Is that a yes?"

Ara looks at Annabeth intently, she realizes the girl hasn't said anything about their prophecies. "You're not angry that I hid my prophecy from you all?"

Annabeth shrugs, but she looks tense. "I think you're allowed to hide stuff if you think that's the right move, and it wouldn't be the first time, right?" she stares back at her. "You wanna talk about it?"

Ara feels her mouth run dry. "No."

Annabeth gets up to leave. "Don't stay here for too long, it stinks of mummy."

"If I become a child of Olympus, I can stop others from destroying our home in the years to come."

"Ara, you're thirteen," Lily reminds me.

"So what? Heracles and Achilles weren't adults when they started," I pout.

She shakes her head. "Percy's prophecy is very clear—"

"And it bounds him to one purpose only," I'm knee-deep in the conversation, so I say exactly what's on my mind. "I could do more."

"Ara, I don't think—"

"I'm in."

"What?" Lily scowls at Mike. "Are you crazy?"

Michael keeps his gaze down. "Ara wanted a family and got one. She woke up one day, decided to start training, and broke a record. She said a sword would come to her, and Hephaestus gave her Almighty. She makes things happen."

"Yeah, she worked to get all of that," Lily rolls her eyes. "But a child of Olympus? There hasn't been one in centuries! Least of all a girl!"

"She'll change that." A leaf-green glow envelops Mike's body. As heartbroken as he is, he means business. "You'll be our child of Olympus, Ara. I swear it on the Styx."

Just like that, it's done. Mike sealed our fates, and now I've got no choice. Lily swears in Italian and falls back on her seat, staring at the funeral pyre as if we're the ones burning. Nico is fast asleep, he didn't hear anything from the last few minutes of our conversation.

"Mike..." I hug him and my voice cracks. "You're not supposed to be stupid!"

"I know," his voice sounds just like mine, and his arms wrap around me weakly. "Blame it on the grief..."

Lily throws her stygian dagger between our feet. "Idiots," she sulks. "Just when I think you don't have any tricks left to make me follow you on another wild goose chase..."

"Wouldn't be a good role model if I didn't make you slightly crazy," Michael shows a tiny smile.

Lily scoffs. "More like an annoying brother that wants to ridicule us..."

"I don't know what I did to deserve you," I cry.

"Bug," Mike's gaze softens and he cups my face. "You know damn well you don't deserve us."

I laugh and look at Lily, gathering up some confidence before I talk. "I brought Nico back. I'll work hard every day to earn your trust, even after I get the title."

I lift my right wrist, the scar in full view.She raises hers and touches mine, sealing the deal. She can't do anything but make sure I don't lose any limbs before time.

I see Janus out of the corner of my eye, but they vanish when I look their way.

Ara reads her to-do list during breakfast, muttering things to herself. When she's done eating, she gets up and goes back to the Big House. Halfway there someone calls after her.

It's the second time Leo approaches her unprompted, which is not strange but feels weird. Or maybe she's just tense around him out of habit. "Nyssa and Jake told me you're not coming to the bunker today, why is that?"

She tilts her head in confusion. "You need my help with something?"

"No, I just want you near me at all times," he replies sarcastically. "Of course I need you! How am I supposed to supervise fifty people all by myself?"

"Annabeth's taking her siblings to the bunker, you can explain everything to them," Ara shrugs. "They don't need you to tell them what to do all the time, it'll be okay."

"You're Cabin Nine's right-hand lady, I'm summoning my right-hand lady to the bunker before I make a fool of myself in front of the Einstein cabin."

She snorts. "Why do I feel like you're just trying to annoy me?"

"Honestly, I'm trying to tell you that I'm nervous and I need moral support," he clasps his hands together. "Would flattery seal the deal? What if I slip in a pet name? Mamacita or—"

Ara turns around knowing Leo will follow her. "I am not your mother, so don't ever call me that. Also, it was wrong of you to eavesdrop, but still... thank you for not asking about my prophecy the other day."

Leo shrugs, catching up to her as they walk to the Big House. "I don't really get prophecies, but yours sounded tough, so if you don't want to talk about it..."

"Maybe one day," she replies. "Anyway, you've got stuff to do. Which reminds me," she waves at the girl waiting for them on the porch. "It's time for introductions."

Leo has seen Lily Saggio once or twice around camp but never paid attention to her until now. "Leo Valdez," Ara says as soon as they're close enough. "This is my best friend and second in command, Lily Saggio."

"Hi," he waves briefly. "You look much scarier from up close."

"Did you talk to Annabeth?" Ara asks the girl.

"Yeah, she said I should come find you," she gives Leo a nod to let him know she's not ignoring him, but she's clearly got more important things to attend right now.

Leo can't help but notice all of Ara's close friendships are serious or grumpy, maybe that's the reason she's in such a bad mood all the time.

"I'll be back in a minute, gotta give my mother a call," Ara excuses herself from the conversation and rushes into the Big House, leaving Leo alone with the dark-haired girl.

"So," he smiles. "Athena, right?"

"Hephaestus," Lily sizes him up. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure! Unless is my haircare routine, that one's—"

"Ara has a soft spot for your cabin," Lily interrupts him. "She can't say no to you, but I'm here to say it for her," she steps forward. "So be mindful of what you ask her."

Leo's not entirely sure she's talking about the Argo II, but he tries to act chill. "Ara trusts you, so I'll do the same. What about you?"

Lily raises a brow. "As long as you do your job, I don't have a reason not to... but I'll keep an eye on you."

"You don't have to worry about me, I'm a workaholic. I work so hard I forget to eat. And sleep. I love my job!"

Lily frowns. "I hope that's a joke."

"Only in the ways that matter."

Ara comes back out after a minute and Leo can finally breathe again. When they get to the bunker, Leo realizes he's been so anxious he hasn't spoken since they left the Big House.

Pretty girls have always made him nervous, but right now he's straight-up pressed. Saggio gives off strict parent vibes, and he doesn't want to mess things up with Ara now that they're friends.

Annabeth is at the bunker's entrance with her brother Malcolm, Ara introduces the boy to Leo and Leo gives him a formal greeting, there's a buzzing in his ear like something's out of place in his inner mechanisms, it's filling his mind with thick smoke.

Ara takes them to the Argo II's blueprint. "That's what we'll be working on."

Malcolm stares at it with wide eyes. "That's huge!"

"And ancient," Annabeth studies it carefully. "This came to you when you were little, Leo?"

"Hmm?" He gives a start. "Oh, yeah! When Tía Callida babysat me she made sure to ingrain it into my brain, along with the nightmares."

"He means Hera," Ara clarifies.

Annabeth looks at Leo and tries to smile. "Well, you fixed Festus. I trust you can build this. Malcolm and Lily are here to help you, so whatever you need, feel free to ask them."

"Thanks! But if I get stuck I can just ask Ara, right?" Annabeth, Malcolm, and Lily laugh, which is crazy because he isn't trying to be funny.

Ara blushes and changes the subject. "I've got a chariot to fix, so..." she gestures at Lily to follow her out. "Malcolm, you stay with Leo. If you need anything, send Harley."

"Have you contacted Nico yet?" Annabeth asks. "He asked us to let him know when you returned."

Leo listens intently, trying to figure out Nico's role just by examining Ara's face. All he knows is that the boy lent her his jacket so she could stay warm during the quest. He's also the son of Hades, which is... challenging. Leo can't fight for Ara's heart with a guy who's the prince of the underworld!

"I'll call him later," Ara wrinkles her nose and waves a hand dismissively. "And I'll come tomorrow before I leave for..." The girl notices Leo's staring and frowns. "What?"

"Huh? Oh! I was..." he points to the old blueprint, then pauses. "Hang on, before you what?"

"Before I leave," Ara looks slightly uncomfortable. "I'm going home for the holidays."

"Not for long, right?" He asks anxiously.

"I'll come back after a few days," she says, not meeting his eyes.

"Oh."

Wow, he's killing it today with the witty talk. Way to go, Leo. Malcolm stands beside him and watches the girls leave, the blond boy crosses his arms and glances at Leo. "You nervous?"

"Pfft. Why would I be? I'm the man," he says, desperate to sound normal.

Malcolm smirks. "Well, Ara's a crazy scientist, and my sisters can be bossy—"

"Wait, are we talking about the same Ara here?" Leo raises a brow.

"'Course, man. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't paid enough attention. Lily and Ara are chronic overachievers," Malcolm walks away without explaining further.

"What does that—hey! Malcom, wait up! What does that mean?"

Leo tries to follow him, but Nyssa gets in his way.

"Alright, Counselor, stand still a minute!" She grabs him by the shoulders and places him on the platform where Festus's head is.

Leo spots Jake in front of them, holding a professional camera. "What the—"

"It's for the record," his sister explains. "Chiron hangs 'em in his office, and we'll hang one in our cabin's wall. This project should be remembered by the generations to come."

Leo's cheeks burn. "And you want me to be in the picture?"

"Well, you're the guy with the vision," Nyssa pats his back roughly. "But we'll take one with the whole crew once the Argo II's done, don't worry."

Leo's mind goes to Ara, the idea of having a picture where both of them appear side by side makes him stupidly happy. He needs to calm the heck down.

"Okay, make sure to capture my good side!" He muses.

So I just finished reading the 5th chapter for the 4th time - will continue to do so till the next chapter - and decided that I owe you a few words of gratitude.

I haven't read any fanfiction stories in a couple of years. And wasn't actually planning on starting any time soon, if I'm being honest. Not because of any prejudice, mind you😅 But just wasn’t feeling like I'm interested in one. On top of that, I was never into One Piece, but caved in under constant demands friendly recommendations to watch the Netflix adaptation (and maybe catching a little tiny crush).

This is when the beginning of the story finds us - me, a week ago, upon finishing my 3d rewatch, scrolling through the tag here and coming upon your post with the first chapter. I was planning to energetically scroll by, but then I saw the words count and went: "Hhhhmmmmm🤨🧐🤔🤔🤔". And this right here is a SUCKER for long things. So, deciding "What the hell, I don't have anything to do right now anyway", I've jumped right in and went through all four chapters. And then I did it again. And once again the next day. And then started to reread favorite parts, desperately waiting for the 5th chpater.

Thank you so much for gifting us such a fantastic and amazingly written story!! Your writing is superb, well-realized and so gripping that I find myself returning again and again. I honestly desire for it to be canon in the show, because you did the greatest job with putting your lead right into the story - it's so easy to visualise, reading it is like watching the show in my head.

It would've been incredible to read even without the romance, but that part is just *Chef's kiss* (I'll take one from the waiter as well😈😈😈). The building of their relationship is just perfection, with the constant bickering and teasing. But the soft and sweet moments (so many in this chapter, honestly), like how he didn't want to let her go to the kitchen, give me quite literal butterflies in the stomach🥰💙

The conflict in Zoro is so fascinating to read, even though it's very heartbreaking, because he's just not letting himself be happy here. The angst IS REAL and I'm fully prepared to die with the next chapter, given the subject matter😅

All the characters are brilliantly written and such a joy to read! Can't wait to see what else you'll be so generous to give us in the feature!!! Thank you so much, once again💐🌷🪻⚘️🌸🩵

P.S. I'm BEGGING you to still give us "That’s a date" scene! She should just be petty and become besties with Sanji in order to annoy Zoro for being a selfish asshole, who's throwing himself into death matches😈🤣🤣🤣

I’m not going to lie. I’ve been holding onto your ask for a while. It was incredibly humbling to read it and, like you rereading Chaos in Their Bones, I have reread your comment about the same.

I’m so happy that you took a chance on reading my fanfiction and find it funnier that it was due to the fact of my word count. I am always paranoid that my word counts are too large. I wish I knew how to write smaller 🤣🤣 so I found it ironic that what intrigued you the most to start reading it was the length.

“Reading it is like watching the show in my head.” This comment right here feels me with so much joy. I know that this is fanfiction. It’s supposed to be fun and a place for fantasies and escapism, but I put so much effort into making sure it feels authentic and the characters realistic and it’s immersive in the best possible way. So, reading that comment made this one of my favorite I’d ever received.

As for the Sanji part I cannot confirm or deny that a date like interaction happens lol.

Today was a lot more stressful than I was anticipating. I felt like death when I woke up but I managed to get up anyway. I had 26 cases so that wasn't too bad but everything else was going wrong. One of the morning shift people called in again so there were only 3 of us until 11am. The morning team lead was in decontam for like 5 hours and he would not stop talking to me so my social battery is drained. I am glad we are getting along better but he is too much for me sometimes. It also sucked because we were really busy and there were a lot of priorities. The girl we just hired decided not to show up for new employee orientation so that was frustrating. That's the third person we have hired in the past 6 months that didn't work out. I can't remember the last time we were fully staffed. It's so annoying.

I had a panic attack again this afternoon. My grandma texted me to tell me she has a concussion because she fell due to high blood pressure. She can't handle the stress. She told me I need to deal with my mom because she can't do it anymore. She also told me my mom wants to come home and I need to help her. My mom texted me a while after that and started being so nasty to me. She was being so mean even though I tried to send nice messages. That made me cry so I had to leave the department for a little bit. She sort of calmed down after a while so we were able to have a discussion.

She was trying to tell me she wanted to move back and she said she would get a bus ticket when the time comes. She wants to stay with my grandma for a month. I told her she couldn't do that because grandma isn't doing well. She also doesn't have a spare room. My mom abused my grandma when she lived with her last time. My grandma lost her condo because of my mom's behavior while she lived there. It's just not a good idea. My mom said she would sleep on someone's couch but we are definitely not going to let her stay at the house with us. It's not safe. My dad and I are both afraid of her. I'm sure my brother and sister feel the same way. I am nervous about having to be around her by myself. I don't know if she is capable of doing much damage now due to her disabilities but I can't be sure. I haven't seen her in years so I don't know how much she has changed. She asked me why I was living at home and I told her about how I dumped my ex and needed a safe place to live. I also said that I can't live alone due to my health. She didn't respond after that but maybe she had an epiphany and realized that my dad isn't a bad guy like she thinks. I'm not really sure if that's true or if I offended her. I bet I will still get nasty messages later. I am planning on getting cameras in case she tries to come to the house and do weird stuff. She isn't allowed over here and she will get a ticket for trespassing.

I told her that I will try to pay for a hotel room for her for a month but I don't know how I am going to afford that. I am going to have to figure out my budget. I have a bill I really need to pay on Friday so I don't know how much I will have left over. She argued with me about not wanting to get a hotel room because it's expensive. I know it's expensive but there aren't any other options at the moment. It would be way better than staying at a shelter. She is so damn stubborn sometimes. She is going to be applying for disability again so I really hope she follows through with that this time.

She got a new phone so I can call her whenever I want so that's nice I guess. I am just surprised that we were able to text each other for several hours earlier and a lot of what she was saying made sense. I have learned that I need to try to change the subject when she starts going off on a rant. It seems like it sort of helps. She keeps sending me links to her youtube videos and I haven't watched them in a while because they make me uncomfortable. I think I might have to make myself do that sometime because I want to know what she has been doing.

She stresses me out so much but I love her anyway. She did tell me she loved me earlier so that made me happy. She is still capable of being nice sometimes. I really hope I can figure everything out by myself because I want her to be safe. I'm just happy she wants to come home because I didn't think that I was going to get another chance to see her. I also hope she doesn't run away again. I am going to do my best to stay positive and hope for the best.

I don't know what I am going to do but I can't think about it anymore right now because I am so tired. I will probably have to take intermittent FMLA after all. I won't get paid when I'm off so that is going to make this harder. I am going to talk to my boss about it tomorrow. There is a lot on my shoulders right now and I am overwhelmed.

I am also worried about Maxwell. You are too hard on yourself sometimes. I don't know why you think it would fix things if someone were to hit you in the head. I think you just need more love. There are so many people that love you and care about you. I think that you need to be reminded of that more often. You need more hugs. I think you need to go on a walk with me sometime. I am also wondering if you have ever talked to anyone about your depression. I think that might be good for you. I can tell you are depressed but I don't know what is going on in your mind. I'm not saying that you should take medication necessarily but maybe it would help. I know it has helped me a lot so maybe it could do the same for you. Obviously I'm not a doctor but I am concerned about you. I don't want you to be sad or upset about anything. I love you.

I just need to try to relax the rest of the night. My back hurts and I'm having cramps so it's hard to get up right now. I wish I had the motivation to do something. My main goal is to actually eat dinner. I have been avoiding hot food because it upsets my stomach. I am glad I had a boost before I went to work because I didn't have time to eat breakfast. I bought a muffin but I didn't want to stop to eat it. I was also upset that they didn't have blueberry muffins so I had to get a chocolate one. I usually like chocolate muffins but theirs aren't very good in my opinion. I am still going to eat it but I'm not in the mood. I made myself get a small salad at lunch and I was able to eat half of it so that was good because I haven't been eating enough vegetables. I wish I would have been able to finish it but I got too nauseous. I need to eat a lot of smaller meals during the day but that's impossible with my schedule. I will keep trying to eat more.

Anyway, I'm going to put my pajamas on and make some food soon. I need to go to bed earlier than I did last night. I was awake until almost 11. I guess I got more sleep than I did the night before so that helped. It still wasn't enough. I took a muscle relaxer a little while ago so that will help me fall asleep. I need the rest because tomorrow is Thursday. I really hate Thursdays. I might have to stay late because there might not be anyone available to finish up for me. I already know that the lady that works the night shift will be on vacation. I'm not going to worry about it anymore at the moment. I should probably stop rambling now and try to get out of bed. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day than today was.

LESSON 20 BABY

Season finale, I think, if the credits at the end are of any hint lol. I expected things to go down south but. Guess not yet.

Lesson 19 ended with quite a happy tune with the brothers up to celebrate their decision and lesson 20 starts with them already going up to Diavolo to give him their answer, all meanwhile reminscing about last night's party where apparently Mammon decided to just strip, lmao. They contemplate for a moment that Diavolo won't let them stay because the Devildom is his domain, after all, and they joke about going to the human realm instead so they don't get separated from Satan and crash in your place instead. Sweats very nervously in I can't have a place to stay because I'm centuries in the past hahaHAAAH.

Barb tells us to go get Diavolo because this man is already training to avoid his responsibilities for when he has to manage RAD. We got three choices: classroom, colosseum or the courtyard. I chose the courtyard and was blessed by Simeon. Apparently, if you go to the classroom you find Solomon, and Diavolo is on the colosseum.

We only have one choice when talking to them, though, and that is to ask them to be the brothers' allies. Which is no small feat. Simeon could be branded as a traitor for what he says here, but it seems he's fully committing to stay with the brothers this time should something go down. I appreciate it.

Asking Solomon can't go down well, considering he's on humanity's side and he's tried to get us to swear loyalty to humanity instead of the demon brothers, and Diavolo... well, he admits he can't deny us if we ask him like that, plus we know he has a soft spot for the brothers himself.

Lucifer tells both Diavolo and Raphael their decision, but they have to ask Diavolo for permission to stay, after all. It's his domain.

Oof.

But Diavolo is one soft demon, and yes, he says he has to look out for his subjects... which is exactly what he's doing. Lucifer and the others are part of the Devildom now, so they're under his protection, and he officially names them the Seven Rulers of the Devildom. Raphael says he kind of saw coming that the brothers would want to stay, and cue me squinting at the screen while remembering how he gave us Michael's message about convincing the brothers to return. C'mon man.

They ask for everyone else's thoughts, and they basically reply that it's none of ther business and they respect the brothers' choice. I found it heartwarming how even if deep down Luke still wants them to go back home, he respects their decision. They grow up so fast sob.

Next up there's gonna be a celebration, a ball, in fact, to celebrate the seven brothers' new appointments. We get moments divided in goups of three.

First up are Asmo, Beel and Luke, who are preparing for the ball. We get to choose who to help choosing a fragrance. I chose Luke because he's my son and I haven't had a moment with him in ages. Plus he has something to say about Raphael.

Apparently Raphael fled back. I did not like it, but in the end it was just me being paraoid lol. Ngl I was expecting Michael to send me a message about how he's gonna kick my ass.

Then comes the carriage. They're wearing the Devilday suits by the way, and look great. I love those suits lol, but anyways, here we can choose who rides with you in the carriage. We have Levi, Belphegor, and Barbatos. I chose Barb, who's aware of the glares he's getting and kisses your hand. This man loves riling everyone up and play innocent lol.

Sir.

A bit sad he's wearing the uniform, but eh...

So you get to the castle, all dressed up...

This absolute bitch.

Call him out Thirteen!! I love you!!

ANYWAYS.

In their brotherly fashion, during the ball they have a bit of a squabble over who has the first dance with you, because of course they do. In this lesson, we have fighting for your dance Mammon, Satan and Simeon.

I was expecting Lucifer to be there instead, not because I'm biased (I am though, not gonna deny it) but because it would be reminiscent of the og!obm dance where he threatens to end your existence if you are planning to use or hurt his brothers.

They were cruel to put me to choose between those three but in the end I chose Simeon, who decided to give me a bit of a stab of pain.

Man if only you knew about your present self who's lost his powers because he saved us haha....... ha........

After the dancing, Diavolo wants to give us a special title, recognizing the hard work we put for the brothers and the entire Devildom. I thought he was gonna give mc a cool title, but when he simply stated "you're now officially a Devilsitter" I lost it laughing.

Thanks.

He asks us to choose one lucky demon to award us the emblem commemorating our new title, and the last three choices are the Big Three: Lucifer, Diavolo and Solomon.

Well. I didn't hesitate. I feel a bit bad for Solomon, though...

This was really sweet, though! That the emblem or "mark on the brow" (it's the chapter title too! so it kinda hints at it already) is given with a kiss on the forehead. I think I woke my cat up with the cooing noise I made lol.

And there they go again, hahah...

But before it all ends, Diavolo goes all out, and not only does he makes an announcement about the founding of RAD, but also-

-that both Solomon and you are gonna join as exchange students.

Back all the way to the beginning baby!!

And with no Michael or threats or cliffhanger, lesson 20 is over and credits roll. End of Season 1, it seems!

I lied. After the credits we get this, because we can't catch a break.

Cool. Great. So the balance is getting worse. I'm gonna assume it's our fault for aiding the brothers here.

We might have avoided Michael this season but I fear he's gonna come for us eventually. Also, during a few seconds after seeing the post credits I thought Michael wanted to restore the balance,,, but then I switched mindsents and thought he actually didn't want to and would rather have the scales to tip in the Celestial Realm's favour instead by bringing the brothers back. I don't know. In any case, this is not the last we're going to hear from him. He's got us in his sights, and doesn't sound good at all.

The extra lesson is Luke catching up to Raphael before he leaves back to the Celestial Realm before the whole ball preparation event.

Sighs and crosses out "Michael wanted the brothers back to tip the scales". Okay. Fine. He might also miss them a little bit, but my man did not lift a finger to help them, so he can stay up there and rot for all I care.

This part of the convo was more interesting, though.

Luke comments he wants to help bridge the gap so the angels can be closer to their former brothers, which is admirable, but Raphael is more inclined towards giving that task and role to the humans while telling Luke to be a Principality instead and watch over them.

This is reminding me of when Simeon and Luke both said they'd be your guardian angels, and according to Mammon (and if I trust my memory), guardian angels choose one person only to guard all their life. I miss the present group. I hope we get to see them soon, at least a glimpse even if we don't go back right away. I bet they're frantic over mc missing still.....

I'd like to dig deeper over principalities because yes mythology but also I'm tired and with geographical principalities screwing my research combined with the little patience my sleepy brain has I just give up for now and will just go to sleep after this soft end for the 1st season. Dunno if we'll have something in 10 days. They certainly didn't say it was the end when the announced the lesson, so who knows? Maybe it's a mini break. Maybe not. We can only wait and see, but if they need a break to write more story at a better pace, I'm all in.

I still have to catch up with the hard mode for those extra scenes and lore, but this is all there is for now regarding main story!

It's the final countdown best-of: top ten films of 2023! I watched over 200 movies this year, so this was pretty wrenching, but I'm happy with my choices. As in past years, the list is unranked, because I can only push myself so far.

Aftersun (2022) - I started crying in this movie's third act and I maybe haven't stopped since. I don't know if I have the words for how much this film affected me. The performances, the visuals, the raw and bleeding heart at the center of it. Just overwhelming.

The Age of Innocence (1993) - If I'd known I was going to watch a ton of Scorsese films this year and had bet on which one would make my top ten, it would not have been this. (For the record, GoodFellas, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Irishman all made the short list when I was deciding on my ten.) I'm not even sure I knew Scorsese directed this film before this year, I'm sad to say. But The Age of Innocence immediately crawled under my skin. The longing in it is unreal. I've been thinking about this one for months.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) - One of two films I watched twice this year, and honestly, putting this list together made me want to watch it again. An intensely charming blend of found family, heist tropes, and D&D Easter eggs. But, I think most critically for me, while it's funny, it's also totally sincere. I don't think I was aware of how sick I was of irony in action and adventure films until I got my hands on one basically free of it. It made me cry both times. A fantastic surprise of a film.

Frances Ha (2012) - Friend breakups aren't a wildly common subject in filmmaking: not unheard-of, but certainly not something you see frequently. But Frances Ha hit me directly in the feelings in a way I was unprepared for. Your mileage may vary, since this hits a lot of beats close to, or sometimes exactly like, my own mid-20s experience. But I suspect that even without that, the movie would have moved me. Also a truly great New York City film.

Ivan's Childhood (1962) - I came into this film already a Tarkovsky fan, but unreal to see how assured and effective he was in his first feature-length film. Those crane shots!! The entire effect is poem-like. Nikolay Burlyaev is also wildly good as Ivan; hinging an entire film on a child's loss of innocence really banks on the right child actor, and Burlyaev is terrific. Full-on tragedy.

My Dinner With Andre (1981) - I said it when I first watched it and I'll say it now: How does this movie work??? It should not be good! Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory as versions of themselves, sitting in a restaurant for just under two hours and having a conversation. Yet somehow I was never bored, and I've been turning the film over and over in my mind since I saw it. Gregory and Shawn's talents as writers are on full display, but director Louis Malle pulls a deft magic trick in that it really does feel like a movie and not a recorded play. Wild.

Oppenheimer (2023) - I fully admit this is an imperfect film (parts of it are baggy; Nolan still has no idea what to do with women; etc.). But it still makes my list. First, the cast is terrific. Obviously Cillian Murphy, whose work I've always enjoyed, but also Robert Downey, Jr., Josh Hartnett (!), David Krumholtz, even the nasty little turn from James D'Arcy as Oppenheimer's professor: so many great moments. And second, the entire Los Alamos test sequence was maybe the most indelible experience I had in a movie theater this year. Overwhelming.

RRR (2022) - It's about the cones friendship! I watched this movie with friends, and we spent the entire runtime yelling in delight about its maximalist choices, from fight scenes to dance scenes to montages. But the central relationship at the heart of the film is what really made me go feral for it. I am glad I read a bit more afterward about the context (this is a good starting place, if you're interested), most of which I didn't have going in. But on the film's own merits, it's easy to see why RRR achieved such global success.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) - Into the Spider-Verse was one of the best superhero movies of all time, so the sequel was always going to have a heavy weight to lift. But while this really does feel like half a story to the predecessor's whole one, I was blown away by the sheer visual beauty of Across the Spider-Verse. It leveled up on the creativity and artistry, but always used them to enrich the story. A gift to all of us.

Yojimbo (1961) - Wow, Kurosawa never misses, huh? Mifune is, as always, incredible. But I was also dazzled by how ably Kurosawa navigates a variety of tones. Is this movie funny? For sure. Is it melancholy? Yes. Is it bleak? That too. From the score to the camerawork, everything about Yojimbo works beautifully.

HONORABLE MENTION:

I did my 2022 list, it turns out, slightly too early. I watched The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) on Dec. 30 last year, and it absolutely would have made the top ten if I hadn't already published it. So it gets a special shout-out here instead.

Some of this was actually really surprising -- I did not know a one-shot had edged ahead of Collateral on the kudos front (and I definitely would not have expected that one-shot to be Every Version of You).

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! I think the earliest comments on my first fic never got replies because I didn't know what I was doing exactly, but I do try to respond at least on AO3. I know leaving comments takes effort, and I genuinely appreciate them so much, and I like talking to people about stuff I've written. So...it seems like a good thing to do.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oof, it would probably be Collateral if I hadn't added the epilogue, but I did, and that epilogue is angsty af but it also ends on a rising note, so I don't think it fully counts. So, that being said, I think it's actually one of my more recent ones: Entirely Shattered. Everything's broken at the end of that one. And, like, we know it'll be fine eventually, but they sure don't.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think several fit the bill, but my favorite of those is Confirmed by Sources Close to the Subject

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not so far. The only objectively negative comment I've received is someone who is actually really angry with JJ Abrams and/or Rian Johnson and just decided I was a good outlet for that via anonymous guest comment on FFN. Also, I'm like 90% sure that comment was left by one of my regular readers over on FFN due to some weird circumstances surrounding it and overall vibes, and if that's the case, they're still reading and commenting even after that negative comment was left so...whatever. Otherwise, I've not really received hate. A couple that have been like...passive-aggressive unsolicited concrit, if there exists such a thing, but meh.

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

Nope, not something I'm into.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I don't, and I don't read them either. I hesitate to say "never" because you never know what sort of inspiration might strike, but I don't think I'll ever write a crossover.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge, but I've only been posting for like...10 months

I mean. C'mon. (Han/Leia obviously. Though in revisiting The Hunger Games this year, I have a new appreciation for Peeta/Katniss)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I'm not like...throwing in the towel on this one, but I have a WIP called Macabre that I had originally started for Han/Leia Appreciation Week and it got replaced by Brief Shadow for the "Anniversary" prompt. The whole concept is this idea that Han and Leia celebrate the anniversaries of every time they should have died but didn't -- there's a whole backstory baked in as to how this started and how they even have the dates recorded to do this in the first place (Leia has a calendar, obviously) -- and everyone around them thinks it's kind of a, well, macabre tradition, but it's like a post-war, coping-with-humor thing for them. The problem is I spent a decent amount of time setting up the backstory and how they sort of accidentally stumbled into celebrating an anniversary the first time, and then I simply didn't know where to go from there. I do think the concept has promise, and I really like what I've written so far (I've posted multiple snippets here! Because I was so sure it would be finished and posted in August!), so I won't say never. But I seriously don't know where to go with this. (Like, honestly, if anyone has any interest in giving it a read and making suggestions, I'm game.)

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have been repeatedly told that I stay true to the characters' voices, which is really important to me, so I hope that's true. And, like, if I capture the right vibe, I can write some kind of heartbreaking gut punches.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I have a hard time writing things that are not angsty but are earnest. Like, earnest fluff. People actually saying their feelings straight-out. Anything like that. I feel like I need to talk about this in therapy or something.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Ah...I think as long as you do your research, it can be fine? I don't really do this, though.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Okay, full-circle moment because I forget about this, but I just remembered it recently. I usually say that the first fandom I wrote for was Left Behind: the Kids and that is the first fandom I posted anything for. But, but, the first time I entered a Star Wars phase, I found out fanfiction was a thing, and before my 11-year-old self was exposed to some racy Trip to Bespin fic that scarred me and made me scared to look for fanfiction (this was the late '90s. The Internet was the Wild West and I don't think people were rating their fics, or at least not in a way that was clear to me. I had no real way to avoid running into stuff I didn't want to see, at least not that I knew of), I had actually started writing a little story that I was going to submit to some fansite I found. I remember nothing of it except it took place on Endor the morning after the Battle of Endor and Han had asked Leia to marry him. I actually don't even think I had a plot fleshed out. I just really wanted Han and Leia to get married. I mean, girl, same. When I say they're my OTP, they are my OTP.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Complete dark horse moment here, but I realized today, that I actually think it's Brief Shadow. Like, I do think Purpose of Heritage is going to hold a special place in my heart if it doesn't drive me insane first, but I packed a lot into less than 800 words for Brief Shadow and I'm really proud of how it turned out.

Hi! Currently catching up on fanfics and I was wondering why there are so few about mileven aged up/adulthood/parenthood ? The few (and there are some really good ones who depict them really well and are realistic, but there are just a few) that I read are so heartwarming and satisfying given the fact that it’s their ultimate goal you know ? So yes they are growing up and going to share their firsts milestones together as a couple and their first time, being intimate is just a natural evolution of them and it’s such a beautiful step to a relationship like theirs. And so is Mike proposing to El, them marrying, founding their home and a family together. And somehow on Twitter for example you really have to walk on eggs with this topic… they aren’t 12 anymore for god sakes 🤦🏻‍♀️ When did ppl became so hypersensitive about this? I find it just hypocritical honestly… Idk what’s your take on this … if the subject makes you uncomfortable don’t feel obligated to answer, I’ll understand 😊

Thanks for your ask! Also was sitting in my drafts and hopefully whoever you are anon, you see this response! I have some thoughts and hopefully this will make sense lol but I feel like I'm about to be all over the place.

People are hypersensitive about them (Mileven and minor characters in general) being aged up? This is a tricky subject in some ways. I know some people may not have even fully even "shipped" Mileven (or even Lumax) until they were older because they were so young in the beginning, so there's that too lol.

My Stranger Things/Titanic AU "The Weight of Living" has the characters aged up, I think I have them around 19-21 because that's what the story calls for, I think, and in the movie, I believe Rose is 17 and Jack is 20 but I wanted El and Mike to remain close in age so I just made them legally adults. But my intention was just that it was easier to have them dealing, feeling and thinking more adult things/situations outside of sexual intimacy, which I still haven't decided if I'll tackle that since that's just not really my thing to write. But they couldn't be young teenagers because that's not the story I wanted to tell.

I've seen a lot of discourse over this for many years. There was a big thing in one of my Facebook nerd groups when this girl went on this weird rant about how "sexy" she thought Aang was from ALTA and calling him "daddy" and all that. It was a big debate about fictional characters and simping. As an adult, I don't simp for any "minor in age" character, they are my children lol that's it. A big example is like My Hero Academia when people call the students (Class 1A) their husbandos or whatever, but they are actively 15 years old, so I can't see them past that and they are my children lol. Same with like Gon and Killua, also why I don't generally ship kids either, unless the show leans into that. However, I have read some fics where the authors have aged up the characters to tackle more adult content and I don't particularly have a problem with it because I'm just enjoying the story about characters I enjoy, who I'll probably never see as adults in their respective medium.

I think the problem comes, for some people, is that, "oh you like this? With these characters aged up? that's weird, that's pedo behavior" which I think is really dangerous language to throw around. Or they're like "Oh, you only aged up these characters so you can... xyz". But they are fictional and the writer aged them up because that's the story they want to tell and them being adults or older teenagers (whatever) better suits the story.

Now, I do think there's a line. I know I generally won't read a fic that's labeled "underage" because that's uncomfy. Sometimes, I miss a tag or don't read them at all, just the summary and dive into a story and then I'm surprised (my own fault).

What I also think some people forget, is that teenagers are sexually active. I mean, we saw probably 16 year old Nancy have sex with a 17 year old Steve. She and Jonathan later had sex and we know that they did. I know it might be weirder with the party kids because we have watched them grow up from being 12-14 to adults and their characters are still teenagers... but I'm more bothered by people writing real life fanfictions than I am by them aging up characters.

So, idk, this was probably a whole bunch of a nothing answer lol but I can see why people are sensitive about it but I also see why some people are like "relax".

I actually am kinda bumped that you scrapped Lili out of your own adaptation with a new character.

TBH, I'm always a huge fan of the side love story in Tabaluga considering that the detail of Fire and Ice reminds Me of Romeo and Juliet (especially if their own Fathers hate each other in the TV series).

I also have noticed that Blizzard's name kinda resembles Lili's name ("Bliz" and "Lili") though I have heard of Rumors of Arktos wanting to have a Child of his own because he felt lonely (at least, if I do remember correctly but I don't fully understand a lot of German Language in Texts).

The reason as to why I ask that about the Lili part is because since you've brought up such interesting designs for each of the characters, I was wondering on sort of design did you have for her in your own case (since this Tabaluga AU of yours from You and Friend just sounds like that I definitely would want to watch, especially with that concept reminding me a lot of Modern Reboots of Old Cartoons).

Also, in case if we're talking about the Romeo and Juliet subject that I just randomly compared, have you ever seen the Anime Movie, "The Sea Prince and The Fire Child"? It's a lot like Romeo and Juliet with the concept of being that Romeo and Juliet are set in a Mythology-like World between Romeo (Who is a Sea Prince named "Sirius") and even Juliet (Who is a Fire Princess named "Malta").

So kinda like Tabaluga and Lili except the Genders on the Other Hand between Fire and H2O are switched.

I'm not a fan of love stories and prefere friends/family dynamics. I like Lily as a character, and like her original story with Tabaluga, but am not sure how to not fall into a typical "forbidden love" kind of story.

Blizzard is actually a really cool character on her own, not just a replacement. Arktos picked her up when she was still an egg, decided to train her to be a fearsome weapon... She's kinda an opposite to Lily. The icy girl that we know is so sweet and kind that it's alluring, and Blizzard is just really a cold, brutish, cruel dragonchild that wants to impress her "father" to no avail. When Lily does good things out of love for Tabaluga, Blizzard does bad things out of love for Arktos, who she considers fatherly figure, no matter how cold and cruel he can be to her (because he's a great manipulator, and I doubt that controlling a small kid would be hard for him)

When Blizzard finds out about why Arktos actually picked her up, she's in denial, but soon starts to see what she couldn't see until this moment. That there is no love in his cold heart for anyone, and he will never see her as anything more than something that can kill and destroy.

And that's basically the start of her redemption ark and her journey to not only become friends with Tabaluga, but to prove to everyone - most importantly herself - that she is not destinied to be evil.

There's a lot of details that make this story even better in my eyes. I find it a lot more complex than a love story that I could possibly create...

(But while I was writing this and reading what you wrote... I actually came up with an idea for what I could only call a "sequel". And this would be about the Lily we know. Like, after the grand finaly, if Arktos survives... Oh, I definitely have some great ideas now thanks to you))

And about the movie... No, I haven't seen it, sadly. But I understand what's this about. The poster look great, maybe I'll watch it in my spare time)

Okay, so apparently people are now going to be, and I quote, "shooting on sight". While I reblog stuff pretty often, I haven't actually posted anything, so I'm making this post to do two things;

Let people know I'm not a bot (please, I swear I'm not 🥺)

Geek out about PvZ Heroes, because I know I'll probably never give myself another chance for this

If you haven't heard of this specific variant of "mobile game for kids made to squeeze money out of parents pockets", it's a card game in the style of games like Magic and Hearthstone. What sets it apart from other CCGs, however, are a few key factors

Firstly, the game is asymmetrical. Plants and zombies each have their own selection of cards to choose from, access to certain keywords, and different places in turn order;

Zombies play minions first

Plants then play minions and tricks (aka spells)

Zombies are then allowed to play tricks

Finally, a combat phase where all the minions fight each other

Secondly, combat in this game is lane-based. Minions cannot attack minions in other lanes, and need to fight the minion in front of them before damaging the enemy hero's health. Tricks and abilities aren't restricted unless stated otherwise, but minions are locked into the lane that they're played in

There are 5 lanes in total; a relatively mundane "heights" lane to the left, 3 "ground" lanes that can host environments (abilities that only effect the minions within the lane they're played in), and finally a "water" lane that is only accessible to amphibious minions. Everything in this game moves from left to right, such as combat, the activation of abilities, and more

Finally, and it's not a feature worth praising, there is a block mechanic. Whenever a hero is hurt, their block meter will charge. After gaining 8 charges, the attack fully charging the block meter is nullified and the hero gains one of their 4 powers to either hold for later or use immediately for free

What makes this unfair, however, is that attacks charge the block meter randomly; by either 1, 2, or 3 charges. A common scenario is someone gaining a "California roll", which is slang for blocking an attack after 3 hits (3,2,3). It can also sometimes just roll really low, and you end up taking a ton of damage

So with that all out of the way, is the game worth playing?

It depends on what you're looking for and how willing you are to hack in all of the cards, since grinding is practically non-existent. Even if you're hitting max rank every season (a feat that is sadly very possible), you have no real way of gaining the funds necessary to keep buying card packs (outside of watching ads for hours on end)

You 100% do not need good cards to compete on ladder. If you want to play with people who are good at the game and have good decks, however, hacking is the only practical option

Finally, you may be wondering about how the meta of this game looks like? Well, there hasn't been an update since 2019. Technically, there have been bug fixes, but no new content or balance change has been made in over 4 years. PvZ Heroes has been thoroughly researched and tested at this point, but most players still don't have a clue what the meta looks like, so ranked has slowly become very uncompetitive and kind of a joke (more than it already was, anyway)

I decided to make packages for each class to represent which cards are often ran, if not auto-included. These are obviously not all of the cards that are meta, but they are some of each classes best options and are used in a lot of competitive decks. I should note that, while Solar and Crazy are the best plant and zombie classes respectively, the others are a bit more debatable

I also have this post on Reddit that you can check out if you want to know which decks are considered competitive. The majority of them are either listed on a public database and/or are made by well-known top players. The exact lists are subject to change, but it's not often that I remove or add any decks
