There’s a video circulating on twitter of Jenna Ortega pointing at a fan holding a lesbian flag and then pointing at herself excitedly. The most literal example of lesbian flagging I’ve ever seen, obvious to the point of being clearer than saying the words “I’m a lesbian,” and yet there are people saying “oh I don’t want to speculate,” and “I’ll wait to say anything until she talks about it.” Like, I get that Jenna is young (20) but she isn’t a child, and I’m sure she knows what the lesbian flag is if she knew it enough to be excited to see it. Pointing at a flag and then pointing at herself? How is that anything other than a non-verbal statement of “That’s my flag, I’m a lesbian.” People are so determined to assume that people are straight that they won’t believe anything else until someone says the words explicitly in a way straight people can comprehend.
