#and I have so many reasons to hate her and treat her badly and awful and yet i don't do it... and I even forgave her what she did to me

After thinking more deeply about it, people shouldn’t get mad when seeing the majority shipping AyaYui because they are the most perfect for each other…not always in the good way. They are both obsessive weirdos that are unable to communicate properly and end up doing so much dumb shit that not only hurts them but also the ones around them.
Now I’m not saying they are the most problematic characters in the game, but they just are such menaces for whoever is connected to them. They be wondering why Yui wouldn’t make such a good couple with Subaru and Azusa but the reason is that they’re exactly too soft for her. They just want a kind and motherly girl but Yui keeps putting them in uncomfortable situations, doesn’t respect their boundaries and is unable to comprehend their introversion. Ik she was in a dangerous situation at first but that’s over after the second game, isn’t it? They started dating so if that’s what she truly wanted, she has to take responsibility for that and bring her brain to work.
Now about Mr. Yours Truly, he wasn’t irredeemably bad in the first game but he was such an asshole, let’s be frank. After the first game, Yui started treating him poorly or, again , not paying attention to whatever he was going through but I just couldn’t feel bad for him. They both fucked eachother up so bad but in an equal way so I can’t say any of them is better than the other, like some of their individual fans do. I’m not saying this about the Admin but some Yui and Ayato stans must actually hate the characters and only love their fanon version of them. Just because they forgive their abusers and are friendly doesn’t make them the kindest character anyone has ever seen. They did too many bad things to be considered the kindest and I’m not gonna follow the “they went insane” excuse because I really don’t care. All characters are insane and broken but not all of them did as much shit as they did.
I’m not justifying anything from that dick but e.g. when Karlheinz commits a genocide to make ghouls, he is said to have abused his powers and is evil but when Yui commits a genocide because her cute Ayato-kun 〜 died and kills all living things on both worlds, that’s seen as romantic? Like that’s extremely evil and selfish of her too. Or when others complain about the vampires being possessive and jealous, when Yui is the same person that stabbed Shu and threw him in the dungeon afterwards out of jealousy and she also paralysed Ayato then used him as her pleasure slave only because he drank blood from other chicks. Again, I’m not excusing them but she’s just as worse when triggered enough. All the fanwars are stupid when the game only has characters that wouldn’t be perceived as mentally sane or innocent angels in real life.
// Uuh… you kinda worded it a bit too harshly but I do get where you come from.
The thing is Yui, Ayato, Azusa, Subaru and Yuma are characters described by Rejet as either pure or kind-hearted, yet this doesn’t mean they necessarily have to be saints sent from above 24/7. Good people can react horribly under stress, pressure or shock. Yes, they can do wrong stuff and treat others badly as a result, but this doesn’t mean they have a bad soul. Trauma is not the same from person to person and everyone reacts to it differently. It can turn good people into monsters depending on the severity of the circumstances and some might never come back to their original nature. And, even if they do, this will not excuse their actions, but as long as they try to change for the better and take accountability, I believe they deserve a second chance.
Rejet makes Yui go mad in some endings and After stories to demonstrate that she is capable of doing something as awful as the Diaboys if an event hits her hard enough, just like it did to them. And, to be honest, that's realistic. Of course, not the story, but the fact that every person, no matter how strong, has a breaking point.
Speaking of the genocide committed by Yui, the reason why it’s considered romantic is not the deed itself, but the fact Yui created an Ayato ghoul after exterminating everything, only because she wanted to be killed by the man she loved. I think this was the only time Yui seriously used her brain, and the fact she was crazy when doing that, makes it hilarious.
As for the Yandere endings, Yui does that to Shu in MB, if I recall correctly but it was so unexpected because she really didn’t get any vibes throughout the route, therefore I guess it was just random writing. In Ayato’s route, the obsessive tendencies were obvious when she started looking through Ayato’s swimsuit magazines and tried measuring her boobs to the ones of those girls. I was pretty sure she would pull a possessive move on him later on, lol.
Truth be told, I don't mind that in fictional couples as long as they're both obsessed with each other and it's not one-sided. Besides, it’s funny how even Ruki called Yui “Ayato obsessed” in CL.
As a DL fan, I understand that no character is a total green flag because they all display toxic behavior in regular circumstances, no matter if intentional or not. Nonetheless, that shouldn’t stop us from loving them. Some people prefer the softer aspects of DL, while others prefer the darker, but keep in mind that those who prefer talking well about their favs don't want to be always reminded of all the bad things they did, especially if those characters regret them or weren't in the best mental state at the time.

Is it just me or does Monty not get enough flack for the stupid reason why he hates Rapunzel?
I understand (although I don’t agree) that he doesn’t like the pub thugs in the castle and Rapunzel being barefoot, struggling with change as an older man who likes tradition, but surely that’s something to take up with the King and Queen or blame the government for, not the 18 year old Princess, who was traumatically kidnapped, abused her whole life and is just now integrating into society?
I know that him and Raps do become friendlier with one another over time, but I do feel like Monty was victim-blaming Rapunzel. He was basically doing what Cass did in season 3 but here’s the difference:
Cass had been Rapunzel’s friend, she’d known her for years and they were having MAJOR friendship issues, Cass’ mind was being warped by a literal demon and she also had some implied mental health struggles that she was dealing with at the time, those factors DO NOT excuse her words or actions, but they do help to explain them and show that Cass potentially doesn’t understand the weight of what she’s saying (due to ZT getting into her head).
Monty on the other hand was a grown-ass man, who had never met this girl before in his life, the only knowledge he had of her was that she’d been kidnapped and isolated for 18 years, he had no one influencing him think/say those things or treat Rapunzel badly, he just did it to be cruel and he’s nice to everyone except her!
Imagine treating a girl who’s been through one of the most awful things that could happen to a person, like dirt when she’s trying to be kind to you and purposely giving her lollipop that fell on the floor.
I’ve seen so many YouTube reviews saying that the episode teaches a good lesson about that not everyone has to like everyone, and it’s on them if they don’t like you, you don’t have to change their opinion, which it does, I love the episode’s message, but I just wish that they’d given Monty a better reason to hate Rapunzel. A less cruel and unfounded reason.
Anyway…3am rant over. Carry on with your day/night 🤣

I hardly think Luke being the main og villain and Percy the protagonist and the best hero in-universe is 'liberal' writing
1.Luke was literally the HERO OF THE GREAT PROPHECY and is spoken of positively post-death
2.Luke was a white cishet blue eyed blonde male who grew up in a summer camp and was it's leader that the kids viewed as a parental figure of sorts and the reason he's bad is he took advantage of them by grooming them to join his child army and treated boys of color(Chris and Ethan)badly but was attracted exclusively to the underaged girls he abused(Annabeth,Thalia,Silena and Kelli dosen't have a canon age but passed for a high school freshman with no apperance change except hiding her Empousa features)and never actually did anything to fix the system except hating the gods and Percy is a dark featured(black hair + mediterranean complexion described, which means brown skin)New Yorker raised in El Barrio and grew up getting bullied nonstop for being disabled and poor with an abusive stepdad but never stopped being a bully beater no matter how many schools it got him kicked out of,had a whole subplot of proving himself unlike traditional men to a girl who's implied to be persian because she was so traumatized by an awful man she became a misandrist but also just in general throught both Pjo and Hoo without even trying the rest of the time and fights to protect and for the rights of both lower classed greco-roman beings and irl minorities as well as insulting his and their oppressors in his narration and often verbally, including hating the gods before Luke did at his age and told them when he was younger than Luke in TLT too to get they asses in gear with no fear or hesitation and rejected their offer for power in the same breath
Like of course Percy is the good guy.Luke's just good at propaganda and you guys always fall for it because he's the palpable vision of 'revolutionary' unlike Percy,he's safe,he's conventional,he knows how to talk smart. But at the end of the day, which one of them stood up for what was right as only a child instead of perfectly fitting multiple kinds of fascism as a grown man?
Tumblr media
Anyway 'Luke Castellan apologists' in bio niggas breath some fresh air, invest in a dating app and help the countries suffering thanks to the kinds of people your racist cradle robber was written to represent instead whining about the show but not going after Rick for his fence sitter shit

love to hate you
90s matt stone x fem!reader (named Sadie)
warnings: arguing, suggestive themes if you squint really hard
notes: first person perspective (I, me, my, etc.), this is part one of a series mwahaha cliffhanger
word count: 2539
The time was 7:54 PM. That marked six hours since I’d last sat down.
It got to the point where I could barely move more than three feet in any direction. I was perched next to the camera, watching each take while the director spectated from the monitor, just a few feet away.
We were on Take #5 of the second shot of the entire scene. I knew at this rate, we would still be here shooting the tail end of this scene at 9 o’clock. But Trey was picky, and it was my job to make sure he got what he wanted out of each take.
“Cut!” he shouted, exhaling heavily. I trudged over to where he was standing, keeping my back straight so as to not look so tired in front of all my colleagues.
“What do you think?” I asked him, standing at his side just a few inches away. Trey stared into space, gnawing on his fingernail as he thought deeply.
“What’s the time looking like?” he asked me, words muffled by his hand.
“We should wrap up this scene by 9 and be done for the night,” I sighed.
He stood in silence, staring at the actors on set as they waited for his call.
“Okay,” he sighed. “Let’s move on.”
“Moving on!” I echoed. Thank God. Trey walked onto the set, standing in front of the actors to explain what he wanted for the next shot.
I moved as quickly as I could over to the table off to the side, grabbing a water bottle for myself and chugging it. I so badly wanted to sit down for just a minute, but I couldn’t. I wasn’t going to let myself.
“What’s going on?” I heard a voice behind me. I turned my head, seeing our producer with his big silver glasses and curly hair, towering over me. He had his skinny, muscular arms crossed over his broad chest. He was obviously peeved.
“Setting up the next shot. Where have you been?” I asked, subtly leaning against the table. Matt and I didn’t really get along most days. We didn’t get along at all, actually. I didn’t really understand why, but as long as he stayed out of my way, I couldn’t care less what he thought of me.
“Signing your checks,” he spat. I turned my back to him, walking away towards the set. I approached the cinematographer, before Matt put his hand on my shoulder to prevent me from moving any further.
“Did we get the shot?” Matt asked me, raising his eyebrows.
“What does it look like?” I hissed, gesturing to our surroundings. I turned my back to him again to help the camera crew move around.
Matt disappeared shortly after. For someone who was nowhere to be found during rehearsals and shooting, he cared an awful lot about what I was doing. I knew he was busy with scheduling and budget stuff, but he was Trey’s right hand man on most of their projects, so it didn’t make sense why he wouldn’t make time to see it all happening.
Perhaps that’s why he was always up my ass on set. Even then, he had no reason to get such an attitude when talking to me. So many people told me how professional he was on set before I started shooting with them; if he was so professional, then only God might know why he treated me the way he did.
While I waited for Trey to finish running a rehearsal for the camera, I kept a close eye on the time. 9 o’clock was a huge stretch at this point. Granted, we did make a lot of progress for one day.
I noticed Matt talking to a lady in the corner. She looked professional; she had on a black blazer and held a binder tucked underneath her arm. I stared for a moment, thinking about what they could be talking about. It was almost quiet enough to hear, since all the buzz from PAs and crew members had died down for the rehearsal. Matt was leaning down slightly so he could hear whatever the woman was saying. He was… looking at me.
I looked away. Are they talking about me? God. He better not be saying anything bad. I was good at my job and he knew it. I knew it.
Soon, we called for quiet, and we were back to shooting. Trey opted to do a continuous take and have actors run their lines multiple times, so they could just pick up if they forgot. The scene was almost three pages long, so there was a lot of dialogue and no doubt that they would slip up.
And of course, as expected, one of the actors called for a line a few times. I was actually really happy. Doing a single continuous take would save us so much time.
After we wrapped up the shot, Trey called for everyone to take five.
“‘Scuse me,” I heard a voice next to me. It was the lady that Matt was talking to just a few minutes ago.
“How can I help you?” I asked, giving her a smile.
“Can you come with me for a moment?” she asked.
I followed her to an empty portion of the room where most of the gear was camping out, waiting to be used. Matt was standing there next to a door to another room.
“It would seem that you and Mr. Stone have been having some problems, no?” she said, gesturing towards Matt. He stared me down, chewing on the inside of his cheek. I felt my body burning under his angry and slightly intimidating gaze.
“I guess,” I said. “I’m not sure why.”
“Me neither,” she said, sporting a fake smile. I could see now how caked her makeup was when her skin wrinkled with her grin. “Care to explain, Mr. Stone?”
I was honestly shocked. I guess she was acting in my defense. Perhaps his unprofessionalism stood out to her; I realized that she was probably a supervisor from a big production company.
“I think Sadie is slowing down production. That’s all,” he said calmly. I hated the way his voice sounded. It was deep and nasally and he always had such a snobby tone.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” I argued, furrowing my eyebrows. “My job is to keep things moving. We would’ve been stuck shooting that same shot over and over if I hadn’t said anything.”
“Well if you would just let Trey get what he wants, we wouldn’t have to take time every day to reshoot scenes from the day before,” Matt said, raising his eyebrows.
“There’s clearly a misunderstanding here,” the lady huffed, rubbing her temples. “I want you two to work it out between yourselves. Right now. Personally, I’m embarrassed for you. Fix it.”
Matt sighed, looking down at his feet. I laughed on the inside.
The woman took a step closer to me to whisper, “I don’t know what his problem is. I think you’ve been doing just fine. But the way you’re reacting to him isn’t helping anybody in this situation, so figure it out.”
I nodded. She walked away, leaving the space between Matt and I filled with nothing but silence and tension. His glare was throwing daggers at me. I couldn’t lie and say that he wasn’t scary most of the time. I swallowed, trying my best to keep it subtle so he wouldn’t notice.
“So what’s your deal?” I asked calmly, shifting my weight from one heal to the other.
“I told you what my deal is,” he said. He licked his lips. “Not very good at listening, are you?”
“Did I say or do something that’s been affecting you outside of work?” I said, laughing. I was truly at a loss for words. What on Earth could I have done to make him hate me so much? I’m not friends with anyone in the cast or crew outside of shooting, so why did it matter? Trey seemed to be fine with me. Maybe Matt was jealous?
“You’re fucking up our project, Sadie,” he hissed. “Not to mention you just fucking humiliated me in front of the exec from Universal!”
My jaw dropped open. He sounded like such an idiot. I humiliated him? “You started it! I was just doing my fucking job, Matt!” I exclaimed, keeping my voice as hushed as possible. “When have I ever gotten in your way, hm? Give me an example. Go ahead.”
“Every single day,” he laughed. “You won’t let Trey just do his thing. This thing’s gonna turn out to be shit by the time we’re done and it’s gonna be your fault.”
“Who hired me, Matt? I wanna know,” I said. He hired me. I knew that. He knew that. “I think you ought to have a strong word with him. He looks like an idiot right now.”
“You’re lucky you were even considered,” he said. Matt crossed his arms and leaned closer. “You don’t have shit in your portfolio.”
“If you don’t back off and let me do my job, there’s only gonna be more shit,” I said lowly, gritting my teeth.
“That won’t happen. Don’t forget who signs your checks, sweetheart,” he growled.
He was just a few inches away from me now. At this point I could feel his breath covering my face.
“Fire me,” I said, narrowing my eyes. “If I’m such a nuisance to this project, fire me.”
“Alright, then. Leave.”
“Say ‘you’re fired,’” I instructed.
“Get the fuck out of here,” he said, laughing softly. “Be my guest.”
“You’re scared, Matt. I know you are. I can see it in your eyes,” I grinned. “You’re scared you’re gonna look bad in front of the execs for firing me without reason, hm? Say it.”
“You’re fucking fired,” he said, raising his voice. He had no need to; my face was less than a foot away from his. I jumped slightly, not expecting the sheer volume with which he spoke.
The entire set went quiet for a brief moment. I felt my face start to burn as I realized that every single person in the building probably heard that. Now I felt like an idiot. Matt leaned away from me, crossing his arms and staring me down. I could see a smirk curling on the side of his lip. Never in my professional career did I want to hit anyone more than I did in that moment.
I swallowed back tears, trying to compose myself before I actually turned to walk out. I could see Matt’s broad, muscular chest rising and falling rapidly. Perhaps he felt a rush of adrenaline for finally putting me in my place.
“Good luck finishing this scene by the end of the hour without my help,” I muttered, ramming my shoulder into his body as I pushed past him to get through the exit.
I grabbed my backpack from the hallway and stormed outside. Of course, it was raining. How cliche.
Once I was in the safety and quiet of my car, I burst into tears. I couldn’t believe that asshole actually fired me. I know I encouraged him to do it, but I didn’t think he actually would. He was so fucking confusing all the time; I trusted my judgement and my judgement was wrong.
I put on a crewneck over the tank top I was wearing as I tried to take deep breaths and calm down. I was confident that they wouldn’t get the rest of shooting done within the next two weeks without my help. Fine, they could suffer all they wanted. They only had one person to blame and it sure as Hell wasn’t me.
Just to make my life even better, the location of the set was a good forty minutes away from where I lived, so the drive home sucked. It was late, I was exhausted, I was cold, it was raining, Matt was an asshole, Trey was probably in shambles. The whole sundae with the whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and the cherry on top.
It was well after 9 PM when I got home. I looked at the clock in my kitchen and wondered if they’d finished filming as I watched the second hand tick. Whatever. I shouldn’t care.
I set all my stuff down in my bedroom and turned the water on for a hot shower. I felt really gross, from sweat, tears, snot, and rain water. I thought about the Universal lady giving Matt a verbal beating about his unprofessionalism. The thought made me smile as I got undressed and stepped into the shower, every bit of tension and stress in my body melting away as the hot water poured over my skin.
I pictured his face turning red with embarrassment as she told him how immature and unprofessional he was. Call it cruel, but imagining him getting verbally beaten by a big company really relieved my stress.
My mind circled back to our dispute from before I left. I didn’t understand why he got so fucking angry at me for no apparent reason. Maybe after I started teasing him, sure, but before? I was defending myself. If he was so worried about me sabotaging his and Trey’s project, then he was far from ready for working in Hollywood.
It was ridiculous, honestly. I couldn’t even do anything to ruin the creative aspect of the film with the position I held. I was the 1st Assistant Director, for God’s sake. All I was there to do was prevent people from wasting time and keep things moving. I couldn’t fathom what Matt would have had such a major fucking problem with.
I found myself less relaxed again. Weirdly, I wondered what Matt was doing right now. Maybe he was getting scolded by the exec, maybe he was getting scolded by Trey. They’d probably (hopefully) finished loading out by now, so maybe he was driving. Maybe he was in the shower too. Maybe he fell asleep at the wheel and drove off a cliff and ended up in a fiery car crash on a remote beach. Maybe they were still filming. Maybe he was in the shower, washing his hair or his body, just like I was…
I cringed and turned the water off, ringing my hair out. I shook my arms and legs and stepped out of the shower, quickly grabbing my towel and smothering my head with it. Matt had been on my mind the entire night since I left, but truthfully, I didn’t care that much. I was way too tired and honestly relieved to not have to get up at 6 AM the following morning and film for another 15 hours again. I smeared the rough fabric all over my body as I walked down the hall to my room.
That’s when my doorbell rang.
I froze. What time is it? Who the fuck could possibly at my door this late anyway?
I ran to my room, throwing on a baggy T-shirt and some fuzzy pajama shorts and running over to my door to peer through the peephole.
A loud groan escaped me when I saw who it was.
The last person I wanted to see at my door at any hour of the day, let alone past 10 PM.

Angsty set of Morgana-opinion Headcanons for the GaGene family bc yk what they need a bad day. just a bit of a bad day.
• Conrad is an easy subject. Morgana is… a much more complicated topic of discussion for the family. She’s influenced a large part of Gavus’s life, and raised Liberta, and they both have varying opinions on her.
• Gavus is a lot more solid in his feelings, they’re complicated, yes, but he’s solid in that his disapproves of her actions. He’s had time to come to terms that what she is doing is not okay and that he cannot support her any longer. Gavus knows that Morgana is not as good a person he thought she was, but even then. He cannot truly bring himself to hate her. She hurt him, his kids, his husband, and yet he cannot find it in him to hate her. He still wants to plead with her and make her see reason, even after knowing she won’t listen. He does find it painful, even now, to think about the good times with her. It’s jolting to know someone you loved and respected turned out to be so horrible, and it taints everything, Morgana is no exception.
• On Liberta’s side, it’s quite a bit more complicated. Liberta doesn’t know how to respond to Morgana’s actions and horribleness. He doesn’t want to believe it at all actually. He finds himself, often, unable to process what he had actually went through and what is good and bad in his childhood with Morgana because he genuinely cannot tell. Not to mention she treated him nicely, like a son! She can’t be all that bad then, right? She’s still a good person deep down, because she has to be.
• He’s got a good ol’ case of Mafuyu Asahina basically
• Eugene, on his own opinions, hates Morgana. He despises her, and every single fake ass person on the Celestial’s faction. He hates that she messed up badly, that she betrayed Gavus and raised Liberta to believe that his feelings don’t matter. He hates that she did that to his family, and he hates how the situation is complicated. It’s not like everyone can agree she sucks as easily as they do with Conrad. Hell, it hurts him that Liberta even saw her as a parental figure at all! That fucking sucks, and he can’t do anything about it because she DID raise his kid, like it or not. He’s mindful about what he says about her around the kids, but next to Gavus he’s mouthing her off left and right as many chances as he can get whenever she comes up in conversation.
• This both amuses and irritates Gavus. It’s essentially like, “Raven, I know you hate Morgana but can we focus for a second??”. The amusement moreso comes from the fact at least one of them holds enough hatred in their heart for both of them for that woman, thank you Eugene.
• Lastly, Lucilla. Lucilla’s feelings are extremely simplified: Morgana = Conrad. Conrad = Bad, Hate that guy. Morgana = Bad, Hate that girl. She understands there’s more nuance to it for Liberta and Gavus, she’s not dumb, and she can, to an extent, recognize where Liberta is coming from. However, it frustrates her a lot whenever she hears words in Morgana’s defense, from Celestials or otherwise. It’s awful, terrible. Just what about Morgana needs defending? What could possibly be so good about her? She doesn’t get it. She doesn’t get any of it.
• Pretty much, the overall opinion as a family is, well, it’s complicated. Her actions run a bit deeper because of her emotional hold on two of their family members, and Conrad at least made it easy by acting like he doesn’t care (because, well, he doesn’t! Mans is as straight forward as he sounds: he just wanted power and destruction.), but Morgana? Morgana acted like she cared, and maybe she did at one point. For Gavus. Maybe she cared a lot about Gavus, and maybe she got attached to Liberta as well. But it doesn’t erase what she did, just simply complicates it further for the ones she hurt, because they loved her.

Hallmark PSA
I know since it's coming on the holiday season, I'm going to start seeing a lot of Hallmark slander.
But here's a little known fact.
Hallmark is actually really really good.
WAIT WAIT DON'T LEAVE-
Let me explain!
The movies people usually associate Hallmark with are the "old" ones (2020 and back). I bet after seeing how cliche and unhealthy they were, you didn't see a reason to watch them again after that, am I right??
But you knew them well enough to know they weren't worth your time and sanity.
Girl in a high stress job goes to small town, learns the meaning of Christmas, and then cheats on her also stressed out boyfriend back in the city with a hot cocoa making stubbly kind of rude lumberjack man then quits her job and moves to Vermont or something.
Yeah, they don't do those anymore.
At all.
I'm serious.
A part of it is that there was a purge. A year or two ago, there was a new Christmas movie company in town. All the actors that didn't like the forward direction Hallmark wanted to go in, left and joined GAC.
(Great American Family, or as I like to call it GACK. The movies are exclusively awful old Hallmark style, but Republican, badly decorated, very white, and also much worse.)
GAC took all the problems away from Hallmark, and made movies out of them. Hallmark, now cleansed, is pumping out cinematic greats that I WILL be rewatching every Christmas.
The whole of Hallmark was Recast, save for the best of the best fan favorites (Like Lacey Chaubert-)
They have plus sized actors now and people of color, cast as main characters on a regular basis.
Half of the movies aren't even romance centric anymore, instead focused on life, and moving forward, but when they are, they're really well done, and actually healthy.
If you know me (which you don't), then you'll know I hate unhealthy relationships. Especially when they're treated like they're okay. I will pick apart ANYTHING over toxicity in a relationship, wherever that might come from.
I used to hate Hallmark movies, because they were predictable, unrealistic, flawed, and toxic.
But now the characters talk with each other, and they don't get in the others space without permission. If there's an accident and it does happen, it's not used as a plot device to move the relationship along. It's not treated in a "OMG hot guy is literally right in my face!!! I've only known him two minutes and I hate him, I'm in love!!"
It's more of an, "OMG I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that at all, im so sorry, I'm so sorry- *Immediately backs away*"
I can't even begin to explain how much better they are now.
To further prove my point, here are some gifs of Three Wise Men and a Baby, one of my favorite Christmas movies ever:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just listen to this one.
It's about three brothers, one of which is a firefighter (this is important). A baby gets dropped off at the fire station, with a note. The firefighters name is on it, asking him to look after the baby until Christmas.
This is not his baby.
This IS a joke throughout the entire film.
They have no idea who dropped him off.
So they end up taking care of him for a week, and seriously bonding with him. The make his first Christmas ornament with clay, they do a holiday photo dressed to the nines.
They talk about how hard it is to actually take care of a baby, and how hard it must have been for their mom doing it alone.
Talking about how their own dad left, and finally processing that trauma together.
Their mom confesses that if she didn't have support, she may have done what the babies mother did. How she must be going through such a rough patch, and building empathy for her.
All three of the brothers go on complete cathartic emotional journeys about it, and all the other issues in their life.
I can't do it justice.
It's called Three Wise Men and A Baby. I'm begging you please go watch it, you will NOT regret it.
I CRIED SO MANY TIMES YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
I'm tearing up now just thinking about it oh my gOD-
The ending just sent it home for me, so I won't spoil anything.
Its amazing. I can't explain the whole thing, I seriously beg you please go watch it.
And, if you're more into comedy, I present to you Haul out The Holly:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Christmas comedy starring your very own Gretchen Weiners!! Abso-fucking-lutley HILARIOUS.
It's about a woman, just broken up with her boyfriend, and coaxed into going home for the holidays. Here's where it gets interesting.
Her parents are the head of the Christmas neighborhood watch, something that has plagued her since childhood. Her childhood friend has now taken over the position, as her parent ditch her for retirement on a beach someplace, and she's left stuck, having to decorate against her will.
She wants a nap. The neighbors want her to carve ice sculptures. And her nutcracker apparently isn't up to code.
Includes: Girlboss and male wife power duo (madly in love), insane chainsaw man with way too much time on his hands, the ML an anxious wreck, and many, many, MANY MORE.
Another recent movie was built around a woman who is an astronaut (She's mixed) who was about to finally go to space (The goal shes been working on her entire life) She got into a car accident and her eyesight was impaired. She's currently grieving the loss of her dream (like, actually grieving, she took three months off-).
Her company asks her if she wants to do an exhibit in the planetarium for Christmas, that she doesn't have to, but she can if she wants to take her minds off of things. She says yes, and ends up working with the planetarium director on an exhibit about the sun and it's connection to Christmas through how people used to celebrate with the sun (I don't remember exactly, but it was explained thoroughly, and i think pagan???)
She and him don't constantly argue, or be angry at each other. They cooperate. They show genuine interest in each other. It's actually adorable, and it's also not just about them.
She meets his daughter, who is a wheelchair user. She asks why the Female lead isn't in space if she's an astronaut, and the FL tell her it's because of her eyes. The daughter tells her it's okay, because she'll never be able to go to space either, even if she wants to, but she can still enjoy it from Earth.
I'm not even doing it justice.
By the end of the movie, the FLs eye problem doesn't heal. Nothing is miraculously solved. But the ML and the FL are now dating (After the best, slow paced, healthy, communicative, collaborative bonding freaking ever-) ALL OF THE CHARACTERS HAVE FULL BLOWN EMOTIONAL JOURNEYS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER.
SHE GRIEVES.
HER BROTHER FINALLY FIGURES OUT ITS OKAY FOR HIM TO DO WHAT HE LOVES, AND THAT HE'S NOT A FAILURE FOR IT.
THE ML LET'S GO OF THINKING HES A BAD PARENT.
AND MORE.
There are soft bits, nothing is cliche, nothing is icky or gross.
It's healthy, it's cute, it's emotionally driven, I'm actually learning about things I didn't know before, and amazing.
And all the new ones are either like this or better than this. I could name over ten, but I can't even explain how good they are.
Some of the are still a little dark ages, but it's only every one out of six or seven.
Hallmark movies from 2022 and onwards are 5 star television, and you can't convince me otherwise.

Okay, so I made a poll on whether Aiden Acharya was a book bf and this is because see him getting a lot of hate. And I have no idea why????? There's even a video (albeit a small mention) calling him annoying???? Also I see him tend to get antagonized in a bunch of fics.
There are only a few reasons I could think of as to why and those do not really make sense in my opinion:
He was distant with Aru of CoG - okay but dude literally has so much trauma when it comes to love. His parents got divorced because of it and his father hurt his mother sm because of it. Now obviously when he used the key in ToW he realised he was in love with her. And no duh he'd want to put some distance between them so that she wouldn't hurt him because of it AND HE WOULDN'T HURT HER
The Kara shenanigans - please Aiden was being polite he literally acted the same as with Mini and Brynne, like Kara was feeling left out, that much was obvious, so Wifey was the better man and helped her feel included. BECAUSE HE IS NICE. The "romance" between them was all Kara's delusions and Aru's unreliable narrating for fucks sake she once thought Brynne and Aiden once had feelings for each other because she always thinks lowly of her.
The time skip - HE WAS JUST TOLD HE WAS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF ARU HE IS LITERALLY ONLY 15/16 A MERE FUCKING CHILD YOU THINK HE'S JUST GONNA LA DEE DA HIS WAY THROUGH LIFE AND PRETEND NOTHING IS WRONG????? THAT IS SO FUCKED UP FOR HIS MENTALITY OF COURSE HE WOULD TRY TO AVOID HIS FATE ISTFG-
The rejection at the start of NoI - honestly pretty sure he just word-vomited like Aru in EoT he didn't get to complete what he was saying so he couldn't explain himself properly and after he kissed Aru, he probably realized his fate was sealed and he was on the verge of dying, yes he'd do everything he could to avoid it even if it means lying and taking back everything because he does not want to die has anyone realized how scary dying is??? Like he's probably terrified because god fucking dammit he's gonna die he does not want his life to end he doesn't want to leave his friends or family. It's a kids book so it's not really shown properly how awful and miserable and so fucking scary it is to be told: "you're gonna die."
The rest of NoI - literally the exact same reasoning any moment in this quest he will stop breathing and no one knows Aiden's POV, so he was probably having so many panic attacks and crying and screaming himself hoarse because he really, really doesn't want to die he doesn't want to abandon his mom, being the person Malini found worth living for. He didn't want to leave Rudy, his blood family that didn't abandon him. He didn't want to say good bye to Brynne, his best friend, nor to the other Potatoes. He didn't want to spend less than 9 days with Aru before seeing her for the last time.
I'm probably gonna get so much hate for this but I'm tired of seeing how badly Aiden is treated and I adore him and honestly he was absolutely in the right to cut off Aru, though I'm not saying it was the right thing to do, but he was allowed to do it.
Because. He. Does. Not. Want. His. Heart. Broken.
He. Did. Not. Want. To. Die.

With Artfight very soon I though it was about time to post about some of my ocs!
Introducing: Murphy!!
Nora Murphy is a whole 5ft of mutant soldier trauma and caring.
The short:
S:5, P:7, E:8, C:10, I:3, A:7, L:2
Toughness, Lifegiver, rad resistant, refractor, admantium skeleton, animal friend, inspirational, local leader, rifleman
BOS main, contractor for the minuteman, deacon only minor contact with the railroad, hates the institute
Good, helps people, very anxious, terrified of becoming a monster. Unlucky.
Is a mutant: can fly, quick heal / tough, but needs to eat a lot, restricted to night by being nocturnal, shunned by many
Companions: Danse and Preston mostly, sometimes nick, befriends all of them at least a bit.
Heritage: white Australian
The long: Lore \/
The long:
Fallout 4 ‘Sole survivor’ oc, but in my Mutant AU where vault 111 was a dual experiment creating super soldiers by forcing animal DNA on people with some twisted results (Murph is very lucky to still look mostly human with wings), basically fallout 4 but with a bunch of extra side quests to fight or help her old neighbours in various states of mind.
She is Australian! From NT, Which kinda sucks in fallout universe since most countries had fallen well before the bombs ever fell, Australia was absorbed by USA for its abundance of uranium and strategic proximity to china! She and Nathan (Nate) were accepted as military refugees into the us army about 2065, where they were in power armour core together her as a soldier and him as a mechanic. They were married shortly before where they both get injured in an explosion, Nathan much more so as Murphy was in power Armor at the time. They are discharged, Nathan for injury and Murphy for being pregnant with Shaun. Bombs fall etc.
She is mutated with sooty owl DNA by Vaulttec in an attempt to make an extremely mobile stealth night operative, which didn’t go entirely to plan! While she hardier than normal, capable of flight and is reasonably stealthy she is also now limited to night ops by being nocturnal, daytime is way too bright and painful for her to be in without eye protection! She also struggles to be awake in the day. She also has other negatives from the mutation such as lost intelligence, needing to eat way more food, being smaller than she used to be, and being shunned or shot at. The mutation forces each of the residents to cocoon and liquify into their new forms!
She has so much military trauma, from being in the Aus army when they get demolished by china and then by USA fighting china to take control of Aus, by being acquired by the us army, being a ‘volunteer’ for the power Armor testing, seeing fellow Aussie soldiers get treated poorly in the army, having to participate in the mandatory war crimes, her and Nathan getting badly injured in anchorage, the horrors of war etc.
Personality wise she is very people oriented and will put people before the goal often, extremely charismatic which is the only reason she hasn’t been shot multiple times by just about every faction 😅. Very anxious even before being mutated, but is positively a nervous wreck now, is ok at hiding it. Soldiers training helps a lot to shift into mission focus but is not sustainable in the long term as she finds out! Worries about being a mutant and is terrified of becoming, or being seen as a monster so she is very restrained in her combat, how she moves and speaks, rarely yells or fights first. Will go out of her way to help people as has become the go to helper for many people against her will such as the minuteman, the other mutants and various other people she has helped. She has a very broad definition of person much to Danse’s + the BOS’s chagrin. Has multiple mental breakdowns throughout the story. Privately thinks she deserves to be hated and hunted from a combination of BOS rubbish, military trauma at the awful things she has done as a soldier both pre and post war, and just all round ruined self esteem. Banter is a core part of her speech, if an Aussie is mildly insulting you they think you’re neat!
Pre war was 5’6”, post mutation is 5’ with 15’ wingspan, is not happy about suddenly being a lot shorter. As a morning person naturally the shift to nocturnal is extremely difficult to her, dislikes having to wake people up constantly and feels bad about it. (She feels bad about everything really). Jury-rigs some aviators goggles sunglasses so she can tolerate the sun slightly better, is not a fan of the day anymore, feels too exposed and dislikes flying in the sun.
BOS as feels the familiarity of being as soldier as that’s all she’s ever been for the past 17 years (her perspective excluding the ice nap). Unknown to her, Danse is instructed by Maxon after arcjet on to recruit her so they can study her, and use her as a political pawn with the minutemen and mutants, because by the time she goes to Cambridge she is already reasonably well know and tentatively liked in the commonwealth. (Don’t worry I love both Danse and Maxon as characters so they are not reduced to 1 dimensional jerks!) over time though she befriends Danse as he is assigned to her as her ‘sponsor’ (observe her for study and make sure she makes BoS friendly decisions), mixed feeling in the BoS when she is made knight by Maxon to say the least! over time she becomes a great friend and asset to the BoS and Maxon realises one day the he no longer intends to go through with his original secret plans.
Since she spent so much time in power armour prewar, and Nathan was a power armour mechanic, she knows quite a lot about it! And is very unhappy that she physicaly cannot wear it anymore!
Physically she is small wiry and very hardy from the mutations. Though she can’t wear armour due to its weight and her small stature so she needs to be tough! Important appearance features are she is short, lots of freckles, gap in front teeth, rather flat face, prominent eyebrows, eyes that are too big and yellow from the mutation, shoulder length thick light brown hair that’s messy or braided, she is lean, pear shaped, and has a wide gait. Prefers baggy clothes and will layer over the vault suit / bos uniform. She rather suntanned / leathery and freckled from spending a lot of time outside pre war. She has a prominent set of vertical scars over her left eye from anchorage. She has barbed wire tattoos around her arms above her elbows on both sides. wings connect to her body like having a second set of shoulders.
Absolutely has no cold tolerance from the double whammy of being a Northern Territory Aussie (winter is like 17c here) and cryosleep trauma! Layers clothing wherever possible. Being very cold brings bad memories.
Left leg gets messed up in a nasty fight later, can’t really run much anymore, so is a lot more reliant on flying and her friends, scar on her stomach from stacking it badly on her bike as a kid.
Despite being highly charismatic keeps messing up and emotionally hurting her friends (everyone needs to grow as a person in my fanfic I’m trying to write and that includes messing up in relationships and subsequently repairing the relationship stronger)
Uses laser rifle from Danse that’s modified to be scoped and extra light, carries a combat knife on her person at all times out of habit, before meeting Danse was using 10mm but prefers long range without power armour, which she can’t wear anymore. Her and Sturges whip up some rudimentary comms for her, which later she and danse improves so she can use them in flight without the wind noise making her illegible.
Tends to horde / carry / eat any food she finds since she needs to eat so much and doesn’t want to be a burden on anyone else, most of the time her very limited caring capacity is atleast half food. Has very few clothes because of the time and effort required to modify them, gets a modified bomber jacket later and basically never takes it off again cause bloody hell Boston is cold compared to Aus.

I'm a bit in a twist, because I just saw a post about how awful James Potter is (also compared to Severus Snape) and the person who wrote the post is kind of right. And now I don't know what to think.
First of all, I'd like to say that everyone in this fandom has an own opinion and is even required to have one and they really should be able to express their own opinion which means that they can like or dislike whatever character they want. I do not mean to change your opinion, it just occurred to me that the owner of the post that inspired this rant really had a point and I had to get some things of my chest, so please be aware of that. This is just me being confused. Just skip it if you want.
Now, to the rant. Severus Snape did some horrible things like insulting Lily Evans, treating Harry Potter badly (JKR explained why and it might make sense but that's also an arguable point), partly trusting in Voldemort (and in Dumbledore which both is concerning) or being fascinated with the Dark Arts (probably not really a problem if he weren't in Slytherin and if it wasn't in the middle of a war) but the Marauders harassed him and bullied him which is also horrible. And if we accept that Potter bullied Snape and encourage it, doesn't it mean that we have to accept Snape's bullying too? Because I don't think there's a difference. The Marauders harassed Snape, humiliated him and called him Sniffelus. Snape called Lily a mudblood (and I recall it being only a onetime thing? Please correct me if I'm wrong), he was a Slytherin and he supported the Dark Lord (which meant that he had to, at some point, harass other students too, due to peer pressure or free will, it had to happen eventually).
It is also questionable why they would bully him. Did they only bully Snape because he insulted Lily or was there more? Did Snape offend one of them personally or was there any specific reason other than him being a Slytherin and seen as a soon-to-be Death Eater? Was the only reason to bully him that he insulted Lily? Potter was in love with Lily, sure, but Lily could've defended herself, right? And as fellow Gryffindors and his best friends, it shows loyalty that Peter Pettigrew, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black helped Potter but other than Lupin being close friends with Lily, the others hadn't had a close relationship (at least in canon) with her, so other than being loyal to their house and kicking the ass of a Slytherin (I don't really know if just metaphorically or if punching him was really a thing), there was nothing for them in it which is morally debatable.
Maybe they are equal to each other because they don't really differ from each other. I mean, objectively seen. The both of them are bullies, even if Snape's words maybe hurt more than Potter's, it makes them still a bully. And seen as they may be equal, they don't deserve a different treatment, right?
And that's exactly the point where I struggle because years ago when I read Harry Potter, I thought of Snape as a decent character (maybe younger me wanted to be different (main character) because everyone hated Snape) and then I entered the Marauders fandom and realized what Snape did (mainly he is seen as Lily's insulter, I think?). The fact that Potter made his life a living hell with the help of his friends (of whom at least two where unrelated to the actual issue) and displayed also an awful bully slipped my mind. It's just so confusing where you draw the line between good and bad or black and white, you know?
Maybe Potter and Snape are both morally grey characters because they both did good things but also bad things? Realistically, not every villain is born as a villain. There are many factors that influence the behaviour of a person for example how the person is treated in their childhood by parents or friends, how they grow up or by what people they are surrounded which makes every human being a morally grey character because no one can be only bad or only good. What I'm trying to say is that it depends on which part of a person you consult to judge them. There can never be a definite decision on a person because there's rarely someone that counts as only good or only bad because there sure are things in the past that weren't exactly good or specifically bad. Also, everyone sees a person differently because they met a different part of this certain person.
I'm not trying to find an excuse for what Voldemort or Darth Vader or Hitler or Queen Victoria or any other villain/head of state/dictator (fictional or not) did because there definitely is no excuse for any of it. But I'm only trying to explain the Potter-Snape-dynamic a little.
All I'm saying is that we can't praise the Marauders as high as we do and forget that they insulted Snape as well as Snape insulted Lily. Maybe not as hurtful but I think being called a hurtful nickname comes close to being insulted as a mudblood. Both is bullying and there is simply no excuse for a thing like that.
Anyway, I am not saying that Snape is the ultimate villain of the story and that he should go to hell or that the Marauders are all trash and should be convicted guilty for everything they did to Snape. Just remember that not all that glitters is gold. Humans have many facettes and no matter how well you know them, you probably will never see all of them. It's the same with fictional characters. Everyone is a grey zone and can't be all black or all white.
However, I am up for questions or a discussion or answers regarding this topic. Again, you can point out anything that I got wrong because maybe this helps me to resolve the confusion I'm in right now.

I just finished S3 E7 of Downton Abbey. Here is my updated thoughts and opinions:
I finally understand Thomas a bit more. I still can't forgive his bullying and meanness, but I more understand why he does it. (I had to read some things other people wrote about his character to understand it, but I think I get it more now).
I even wish Thomas wouldn't be treated badly or spoken to like Mr Carson speaks to him. I understand this is typical of the time period, I don't get upset about it being in the show. But it is still hard to hear the words.
But at least now, I don't dislike seeing Thomas on screen. It just makes me uneasy because of what is happening relating to him - just this time it is not his schemes causing the trouble.
Still hate Miss O'Brien. I think she is less one-dimensional than at first, but still she is awful.
Sybil dying was so sad, I actually got tears in my eyes! That doesn't usually happen for me with watching things. It is not impossible for me to cry/tear up from watching something, but it is rare.
Anna is still my favourite, wish I could see more of her! It is nice to see Mr Bates out of prison and them together. But I also just love seeing and hearing Anna in general. Her voice is very nice and easy to understand what she says. I always want to see more Anna!!
I don't have much strong opinions on anyone from the upstairs. But I like Mary, at least her voice. A lot of my opinions of characters is based on how they sound and how easy their voice is to understand! I can be easily pleased by the different accents and dialects in Downton Abbey. I like period dramas for that reason.
I have to rewind a lot to process things, and I can't follow all of the storylines or keep up with all the information. But overall I think I am doing quite well at knowing what is happening! I don't ever feel completely lost or confused. Just sometimes temporarily feel like I missed something - then I rewind until I recognise things again and do that quite many times an episode.
With all the pausing to process (not including the longer breaks I take from watching at any point), and rewinding, it can take me sometimes 2 or 3 times as long to finish an episode! (If there is a lot in it). Other episodes can go more quickly, but I always take longer than the true run-time.

I haaaaate hate hate hate how people said Hazel's redemption arc made sense and Emerald's didn't?
I'd argue Hazel's does still make sense ofc but it's sooooo telling to me how ppl love his and hates hers.
Esp bc, imo, hers makes MORE sense?? We saw hints of it from volume THREE come on
If you want a short example, here's a screenshot by somebody on Twitter who noticed an annoying trend.
Tumblr media
Here's the link if you're curious. https://twitter.com/spicybinch/status/1582743854477778944 Me personally?
I've noticed THIS particular issue.
Ruby Rose: Tries actively and super hard to always do the right thing and respect people’s choices.
RWBY Critics: OMG She’s so boring, come back when you have a personality.
Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna, Robyn Hill: Makes human mistakes, proving both are complex character with flaws, capable of evolving.
EruptionFang, Vexed Viewer, their followers: OMG See? She’s not a saint, she was a horrible person all along, idk why people act like she’s a good person, she should burn in hell.
And then we have the straight white guys who are the villains in RWBY. Yes, I'm excluding Hazel for this one because Unlike Roman, Adam, and Ironwood? Hazel takes accountability for his actions, tries to make amends, and shows actual regret...so already we see that like Emerald, he is given more of a chance of redemption than the three.
Roman Torchwick and Adam Taurus : Does awful things willingly, consistently and without reason, and may make jokes about hurting people in general.
EruptionFang and The RWBY Rewrite folks: OMG he’s so funny and hot. I love bad boys/villains/bad people. They MUST be morally grey, cause they're so cool, they must have a tragic backstory justifying their actions.
James Ironwood: Has a pathetic excuse for his actions, blames it on other people, never takes accountability, and does a teeny tiny good thing (Think of it as nepotism) and throws outbursts when he doesn’t get his way.
Fandom on all 3 men: OMG, he is so sad, my poor baby, he deserves so much better, my heart is breaking for him. He is a complex character  with so many layers and he owns their horrible disgusting actions. But his actions are not his own fault. He has trauma. OMG so hot.
I mean they also scream character assassination when it comes to male antagonists, but let me ask you this.
You notice how these critics look at a robotic acting nanny for Penny Polendina by the name of Ciel Soleil, who only had 60 seconds of screentime, and whine about wasted potential?
Several things to keep in mind. 1, these people only call v1-3 "peak animation" because they put Monty on a pedestal, and because they were obsessed with yang's chest size. That's it.
2. These people are not used to women characters having more complexity than a male character. They were fed a diet of media that treated female characters badly in one way or another.
3. Last but not least. ANYTHING Miles and Kerry do, or ANYTHING a RWBY fan does, people will hold under a microscope. Yet insulting the show and the fandom gets people put on a pedestal.
The next time you see somebody get mad at female characters in RWBY getting some form of redemption? Check their comment or post history and see if maybe they have some weird issue towards women...or LGBT.
You ever noticed how these critics who claim to be fine with LGBT shipping or at least wlw shipping get so upset and uncomfortable at the mere thought of mlm shipping?

this is so niche but I love the idea of a mighty nein House on the Cerulean Aea au
Marion is the matron of the house, after her daughter began to show magical abilities, she know that DICOMY (department in charge of magic youth) would try to take her from her. So she registered herself as the matron of an orphanage, giving up her illustrious singing career to do so
Fjord was the first one to be entrusted into her care, a half orc child who wakes from nightmares spewing salt water and has untamed magic from an unknown source is not a child most want to deal with.
It’s when Marion meets him and sees how badly he was treated at other homes, that she decides to take in those kids who have been hurt and abandoned by the system. And she always looks for kids around Jester’s age.
Yasha arrived next, a girl who could speak to lighting and storms. She’s very quiet and it takes a while for Marion to understand what she needs, some space and something to keep her hands busy and a large window to watch the clouds. She doesn’t really open up at all until Mollymauk arrives.
Unlike the others, Molly wasn’t turned over to the government or taken from his parents, he was just found covered in dirt with red eyes all over him and was taken to DICOMY where he was immediately taken to Marion. He didn’t speak a word to anyone for months, but he attached himself to Yasha’s side, moving into her room. And when he cut himself on a shard of glass and his blood did magic, it just cemented his place among them even more.
Beau was next, it didn’t take Marion long to figure out why Beau was here. Unlike most of the children she dealt with, Beau didn’t have any obvious magical abilities being a polygot is nothing dangerous. But Beau is combative and angry and hates Marion and everything and everyone, most likely the reason she’s been tossed out of so many homes.
Once Marion connects her with Dairon and gets her to a healthy outlet for her anger, Beau tells Marion that her dad had her taken from his home because she was causing trouble, not because of her abilities.
Caleb was the last one, at least for a while. He arrived when everyone else was teenagers, turned over not from another home but from a DICOMY school (well known to be awful places). He wakes screaming nearly every night, his fingers alight with fire.
Marion never fully learns the horrors he experienced at the school, but it’s his experiences along with everyone elses that encourage her to start to dismantle DICOMY from the inside, using as many of her connections from her past life as possible to help as many children out of the system as she can.
And what’s where Veth and Caduceus come in, encouraged by Marion, they also welcome magical children into their homes as well.

Are you saying even in irl cheaters aren’t always cheaters? And I’m reading this fic because you guys are amazing writers. I like the way you and mutt can put a story together. I don’t think it’s fair to tell me to stop reading your story because I don’t like one character tho
I was referring to the "once a cheater always a cheater" part—which is ironically the thing Ygritte uses to attack him again....like ashddhwjsj there's a reason Amy wrote her PR plant like that...
I'm saying that it's quite reductive to think that, by default, if someone cheated on their s/o once they will always cheat. You have to look at each situation in particular to imo be able to understand it, and even so, it's still quite unfair to instantly hold such an absolute belief, like it's either black or white, it can't be in between. Yes, some people have a problem and I'm not saying that's not true for them, I'm just saying that cheating doesn't happen in a vacuum. But that's a different debate.
Especially in this fic, in which Jon has explained what happened and the context of it all, it's quite baffling to say that. And he has expressed time and time again (from chapter 1 even!!) just how much he regrets it and has shown how much he's worked to be better.
It just perplexes me again and again whenever people read a fic that has cheating in any way just how black and white some insist on seeing things. Life isn't about absolutes. You can't think like that. Jon is a person who made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Good people can and will also make mistakes!! Just because they fucked up once doesn't mean that they're bad now (again, such absolutes and for what????) or that they will do the same thing again (to the same or to a different person). What matters is what we do after the mistake was made. And Jon has done everything in his power to learn from it and even thought he deserved all the shit Ygritte did to him.
And I've seen others hate on him too and it is truly sad to me because all he's been doing since chapter 1 is TRY TO BE BETTER. Do you know how hard that is??? Obviously the guilt was killing him inside (see the bad bender and the alcohol abuse) but he's worked through it in therapy. Like holy shit if you go back even 2 chapters before chapter 8 you can see how much he's still trying every single time. And I truly thought that the heart to heart he had at his flat with Dany will be eye-opening to many...seems like that's not that case.
Yes Jon cheated. Yes it was an awful thing of him to do. No Ygritte didn't deserve it. But Jon has admitted he fucked up and has been working through his mistake and he's been trying to be a better person.
And I appreciate the compliment, but idk what am I supposed to say to that? Because if after 107972 words you STILL say that Jon shouldn't be with Dany...it kinda makes me feel like we failed somewhere lmao like we've been showing so much of Jon dealing with his cheating and trying to be better for nothing. Like what does he have to do to be deserving of her? He can't go back in time and not cheat. So all he can do is move forward. And so far I think he's been doing fucking amazing. He's been respecting boundaries and promises and started communicating better with Dany. Just because he loves teasing her (because she enjoys it just as much if not more) doesn't mean he's treating her badly. That's just how he flirts?? And he's a very famous actor with a big ego like...I think he's acting accordingly!
Besides!! That kiss wasn't just sexual attraction for Dany. It was so much more than that...I thought it was obvious. Hence that big thing about her realising that Jon keeps choosing her when he could have gone with the simplest solution and dump her for Arianne.
If I said you should stop reading it was because I don't see the point of you reading a fic in which you clearly hate Jon, who is the other half of the ship. Like bestie that's a pretty important character to hate 😭😭😭 especially since the entire point of the story is getting Jon and Dany together! I just fail to understand how you could enjoy this fic if you think they shouldn't be together.
Still, you're free to do as you wish, obviously. What am I gonna do about it? 😭

so pre acosf i was a major anti nesta. like i really disliked her. but i respected the fact that she was a bitch through and through and wasn’t changing for anything or anyone. and then i read acosf and really disliked rhysand (who was my number 1 book boyfriend previously) and it’s literally the terrible internalised misogyny in sjm and her writing that made me dislike him
firstly i thought it was so weird how the inner circle treated nesta like she was the greatest evil of all time and had murdered their children. i thought it was just so silly 💀 like nesta and her mistakes compared to what rhysand has done, compared to how many people az and cass hahe killed is literally just nothing. like compared to what all the other characters have done i feel like nesta being a bitch and letting feyre hunt is honestly so much less evil and feels so hypocritical for the inner circle to regard her in such a negative way because of it (considering the evil things they’ve done)
but anyway, i honestly started to hate rhysand after the entire pregnancy secret came out. was nesta in the right? NO. absolutely not. but rhys is the reason it was even able to come out like that. he’s the man with power and withheld the info from feyre because apparently no more choices for feyre exist after acowar 🫶
but to have to read about rhys sitting in velaris and laughing with cassian about nesta getting punished for spilling the beans as if his wife didn’t just find out she’s gonna die and he didn’t just threaten to kill nesta was so oddly misogynistic to me that i had to pause. like rhys really got out of that situation scott free? i know everyone makes headcanons that feyre yelled at him or something but … come on. in canon no one blames rhys for shit. even cassian doesn’t blame rhys at all and just punished nesta on that god awful hike where he makes her walk (on a trail he himself says could easily kill someone unexperienced WHILE NESTA IS UNEXPERIENCED) for 4 days until she passes out of exhaustion is just … horrible? i think that’s when my opinion on nesta really just flipped.
like i just feel sad for her and the narrative that is honestly never on her side. after acowar, i’m not sure why rhysand still hated her so much like she literally saved cassian’s life twice? helped them through acomaf with the queens and then all through acowar? obviously she was a bitch that used their money but honestly she kept to herself and only lashed out when they sought her out. like she didn’t go out of her way to find them and fight with them. idk the entire inner circle feels so weird after acosf like this happy bubble just popped and honestly they’re not as amazing as i’ve thought they were?
this turned into a rant but i really need sjm to address this whole nesta punishment situation in some way in the future books (i know she won’t because rhys is rarely held accountable or truly made to look like a bad guy) but i really need some justice for nesta 😭
i know lots of people blame nesta and say she deserved the way she was treated in acosf and after telling feyre about the pregnancy but after reading acosf through really neutral and unbiased eyes, i honestly think rhysands behaviour is excused just bec he’s a guy that everyone loves and nesta is a bitch so she ‘deserves’ to be treated badly and unfairly
There are a few things I miss from acomaf - Rhys, and the IC.
This isn't character development, it's like character demolishment, especially in Rhys's case. That anon I answered earlier this week said that they think he was in character in acosf, but I still just have a hard time with that! Not necessarily with Nesta, because I could see that building from the moment they met, but with the pregnancy. That's beside the point, though.
I wonder.... I wonder if this is because of sjm's habit of not writing villains very well, and by that I don't mean Nesta is a villain - like objectively speaking, she doesn't serve that function in the story - but what I mean is that her villains are very two-dimensional, boring, flat, I rarely understand their motivations. And her protagonists are very good, beautiful, powerful, the Most Best Ever. Then enter Nesta, who is somewhere in between the most perfect angel/demon... idk, I kinda wonder if this didn't expose a weakness in sjm's characterization overall, that she just couldn't write a character with flaws and like, deal with that in a normal way?
I do think that the IC as individuals all dealt with Nesta in different ways, and to me most of those ways made sense. Amren, Mor, Azriel, even Cassian, their behavior, while not perfect or ideal, makes sense to me. But Rhys? He got turned into a prop to create conflict in acosf.

Thank you so much for writing in general but also for not bashing Nancy. I've seen SO many Steve w/ Eddie or Billy and they treat Nancy SO ABHORRENTLY (Not even mentioning how I've seen Chrissy get trashed) and its SO SO SO refreshing to see that NOT happen in your fics. Like character bashing in general is so disgusting (especially when they only get bashed to uplift the author's otp) but there's something so personal about it w/ Nancy especially. Dare I say, misogynistic? Idk. Just thank you for being one of the good ones lol
<3 All my condolences for your lost. I was going to message but I figured you would probably just wanted to not be bothered by internet strangers. Wishing you well tho
Have a great day/night! Thank you again.
It definitely feels like SOMETHING the way some parts of the fandom go after Nancy (and Chrissy! I think WORSE for Chrissy??)
It was the same in the Marvel fandom though. Pepper was branded a Whole Bitch because she got in the way of whatever other Tony centric ship existed and I just-- nope.
I think I just love all the main characters too much to make ANY of them full on bad guys, and the absolute last person I'm going to make The Baddie is Nancy because I think you really have to willfully ignore everything she went through in the show-- which is arguably MORE than most of the male characters-- to justify hating her because she broke Steve's heart. Cos that's the only reason we have to even dislike her. She broke Steve's heart. It sucked. I feel awful for Steve but I feel WORSE for Nancy who was carrying the guilt of her best friend dying in some horrible way while she was getting her two minutes of mediocre highschool sex on.
And yupppp character bashing sucks. The only characters who get treated badly in my fics are the Villains and in ST the villains are either Older Yt Men with God complexes and a habit of doling out ab*se to children in any number of horrifying ways-- or actual literal monsters so....
Anyway. I might not write Nancy centric stories but that doesn't mean I don't adore the hell out of her and in most of my stories if she's not a Favorite Friend after the breakup, she's at least redeemed in a "it's okay, no hard feelings, we're both sorry but it's okay" sort of way.
(and thank you. It's been a super shitty few days for me. Like. 2022 was maybe one of the worst years of my life and I was starting to feel like things were finally turning around for me and then THIS happened and I'm... not doing great? But doing better than I was. So that's something)
(also I don't consider my readers "internet strangers". Like if I recognize your tumblr handle or your AO3 handle, congratulations were IRL friends and that's all there is to it.)

I really felt sorry for OW throughout the press. It was the textbook definition of misogyny. I know you probably see it as a Getaway Car situation but I feel like she really loved him(I swear I am not a ow fan or shipper and I KNOW she have done/said questionable things in past.) But I don't think anyone would have stayed with someone who attracts so much hate towards you unless you have real feelings for them. Not to mention the way her exhusband weaponized that hate and used it out of pure spite. I can definitely see why she left that man. As a mom I can't imagine someone telling me that I don't love my kids because I moved on from an abusive a****** to someone who actually treats me like a human being(my ex wasn't exactly the nicest person). To think this drama became mainstream and her being a 'bad mom' was a normal opinion because she dated harry is so bad. The misogyny becomes evident once you realise that Olivia took so much shit when people like Chris brown is still thriving.
oh i completely agree with you, the way olivia was treated was despicable and uncalled for - back in september, i reblogged this and it holds true (it's worth reading the entire piece).
In my six years as Editor-in-Chief of EMPIRE Magazine, I saw hundreds, thousands, of films (and TV shows) launch. I saw the press conferences, the junkets, the premieres, read the headlines and columns and interviews; I went on set visits, did some of those interviews myself, walked the red carpet before the talent had even left their hotel and studied the reviews. And out of those hundreds, thousands, I struggle to recall one that has come close to the circus of toxicity and triviality that DWD has turned out to be. And more specifically, that of a director who was as rinsed and wrung out as OW. Most strikingly, this isn’t just the stuff of tabloids, it’s seeped through into film culture, with critics and journalists and readers swept up in speculation and giddy fascination at a woman having her work barely taken seriously while her character and privacy are cracked open.
it also doesn't matter, nor is it our business, if they did start out in the getaway scenario, it lasted much longer than that, and she was torn to shreds online through every step of it. it's not even about whether or not she made some missteps (and the article there mentions the awful way she and flo were discussed and how the media salivated over making that into a cat fight without any evidence), or past mistakes, there's no excuse for the sheer amount of vitriol she received from his supposed fans.
i have more to say about her ex and his behavior that i have been told but i can't address it publicly, so the short response is that i agree with you, and by many accounts, she had very real reasons for needing to get out of that relationship. the way she was discussed as a mother was horrific, the papers being served to her on stage was too. i'm so sorry you went through a situation where an ex treated you badly too. :( you deserve so much better than that. it's gross that h clearly cared for her and that was twisted into some salacious thing and splashed all over various media. and it's terrible that we do this, over and over again, to women simply for dating famous "desirable" men (i have stumbled accidentally on multiple hate blogs dedicated to attacking the girlfriends of famous men in the past week and it is very concerning to me).
the misogyny is ABSOLUTELY apparent - think of how many male directions get away with actual abusive behavior, and this woman was treated like a demon for...her dating life?...it's upsetting. we should have learned better so long ago.
