Crowley and Aziraphale (Ineffable Husbands) from Good Omens vs. Camilla Hect and Palamades Sextus (Campal) from The Locked Tomb!

Propaganda for Ineffable Husbands:

They are each others everything; they discarded their former affiliations to form their own sides; they are the best of friends and so close that they can't imagine life without each other. But they also *canonically* (at least in the books) do not experience sexual attraction, or romantic attraction, at least not in the same way humans do; their relationship *cannot* be defined by something as simple as romance, and this is a view the author (Neil Gaiman) has endorsed. Hence, queer platonic.

EEEEEEEE they're so CUTE and they LOVE each other and the fact that this love doesn't have to be specifically romantic doesn't make it less REAL and that warms my aspec heart.

In the book they’ve been friends for thousands of years and are v involved in each other’s lives (routinely have dinner ‘dates’, Crowley frequently hangs out at Aziraphale’s bookshop, generally hanging out and stuff.) Since their not human, they don’t really understand human relationships, love, and gender which makes their relationship v queer. They’re mistaken as a couple by other characters despite not being in a romantic relationship. In the show the same things happen and new scenes are added showing how their friendship grew, them becoming much more devoted to each other, and various struggles they’ve had in their relationship. (ei. Sorta breaking up, them each wanting different things out of life)

they've known each other for over 6,000 years. they saved the world together. they have saved each other over and over again. they love each other so deeply and you can see their love for each other in everything they do. as an aromantic queerplatonic person they embody what queerplatonic love means to me so perfectly

Propaganda for Campal:

They're two people who have spent their whole lives together and are hopelessly devoted and loyal to each other. While some people do read their relationship as strictly romantic or platonic, it has way more going for it through a QP lense! They've been lifelong friends, and in their culture are essentially non-romantic life partners as a necromantic wizard and his bodyguard/champion. It's actually strictly taboo for them to engage in a romantic relationship because of this. But nonetheless they remain close to and devoted to each other, going so far as to use necromancy to keep each other close after one of them dies, and then going on to share a body until it becomes physically impossible to do so any longer. So they burn both of their souls to merge together into one new entity, creating a walking metaphor for queerplatonic partnership. They endlessly support and encourage each other, they're a perfect team when it comes to both peaceful study and combat. They know each other inside and out, long before they had to share a body, they were inseperable.

They're two halves of one whole, literally, and nothing about that intense closeness and partnership is written to be romantic! Especially because other, similar characters in the series ARE written to read as romantic, and there's a distinct tonal difference to those relationships! Basically, they're two peas in a pod, two halves of a whole, clearly not quite platonic with it, but certainly not romantic either.

The author of The Locked Tomb has a long term queerplatonic partner! She even dedicates the books to him and signs those dedications with a <> (which is a Homestuck reference, denoting a non-romantic partnership that a number of fans associate with QPPs!). You can feel the influence of her own experience with queerplatonic attraction in a lot of the series, but it really comes through especially in Cam and Pal!!

I drew were I think Joel and Lizzie’s fragments would apear. I know they don’t actually glow out of cloathing/shoes— but I wanted to show where they were. (Yes they are falling in the void, shhh it can be different colors they are glowing.)

Explanation;

Lizzie has two fragments, one from last life and one from secret life. I hc that she fragments more easily and hers are much larger than pretty much anyone else’s. (Other than mumbo)

Her fragment from last life is on her back for the amount of times she was backstabbed/ betrayed in the series. (Obviously I couldn’t draw her back and her face so.. too bad-?) but I imagine that the fragment covers the majority of her back.

The fragment from secret life is on her face almost like tears. This was the heartbreak of no one coming to her party, and how the rest of her series played out after that was quite tragic to be fair, she never really got any revenge or closure.

Joel are e v e r y w h e r e.

He’s been on every series and never won so he’s just got a bunch. Most of his fragments are small because I don’t think the watchers would get much from him. The only times they get to feed off of him is usually because of the loss of his wife, only sometimes from a team mate. He isn’t usually close to people in most series, just causing chaos.

3rd life’s fragment is on his foot. I did this because of the kinda funny way he dies trying to put the fire on his house out but dies in the process. So yeah— he kinda just stepped in the fire. (Fairly small fragment cause he ain’t got no friends)

Last life is the neck because of how he always had it out for people, putting a target on him. (Again no friends except for scar but they barely counted as allys) ((lmao I didn’t know where to put this one really ))

Double life is his hand. I did this because boat boys and it’s like he’s rowing the boat (idk that’s my reasoning) I imagine Etho has one on the opposite hand because they are rowing the boat together <3 ( you get it right? They both have an oar to row the boat with) This was the first time Joel has a meaningful alliance, and it’s bigger than the first two fragments.

Limited life is his chest/heart. I felt that this was when Joel had the biggest connection with his team and was completely distraught when Jimmy died. The watchers were eating that shit UP. ( the fragment reaches out to his arm that’s why it looks like there’s six. I totally DIDNT make a random one somehow and am making an excuse for it being there)

Secret life is on his face, matching his wife, how cute. This was because of all the heartbreak he endured in the episodes including and following the wither-warden battle. He loses Lizzie, Jimmy, and mumbo all in one day and then on the last episode is the reason that Scott is able to kill Bdubs when he accidentally shot him. Overall just real sad times for him. And not even that— he dies to Scott once again, the one person he wanted dead the entire episode.

His fragments grow larger each season as he grows closer to the other players.

Edit— yes I know the fragments don’t look how they do canonically, but they look cool so shhhh. Also the ones I said are small but don’t look small in the picture, also just mistakes.

TBB S3E7 Reactions

Alright, in lieu of an analysis this week, you guys get some extra long reactions from me. Spoilers for Extraction under the cut!

- Of course the operative is still alive after being completely buried by rocks

- You okay there Rexy boy?

- Aww, Crosshair helping him up

- “There’s always another way” feels like foreshadowing

- CX does sound awfully like Tech when he’s grunting. Either that or DBB has only one way of making groaning noises 😂

- The rim lighting in this episode is such a pain for making screenshots but so satisfying for watching

- The modified clone theme when Wolffe lands 😭

- Wolffe was really getting 3PO flashbacks there with that disgusted sigh

- Isn’t Hilo a canon commando?? Or is he from legends?

- I will never get over how realistic light looks in this show

- There’s no way that CX just caught himself with his hands

- “We’re waiting on you” they’re not leaving Crosshair behind this time 🥹

- Crosshair’s reflexes are so fast for being all gangly limbs

- Okay I seriously almost had a heart attack here (this is a rewatch so my reactions aren’t immediate but holy cow I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing watching Crosshair almost drown. Don’t you dare do it Jen!)

- It is v suspicious how fixated on Crosshair CX is even after he’s neutralized him

- Thank GOD for Howzer

- Okay, I can breathe a little again

- That’s…an awfully long fall for someone to survive

- The TBB team took the water scenes from The Crossing in season 2 and said, yeah, how about we just make that a million times better 🤯

- Good to know that Rex is still considered dead by the Empire (although that honestly seems strange that CX in season 2 knew who he was). That’s heartbreaking that Wolffe thought he was dead this whole time though

- Idk how Rex keeps going honestly

- His voice may be gentle but his face means BUSINESS

- Rex 🤝 Omega - believing the power of friendship can save anyone and anything they come across

- “I’ll make sure you’re given a fair trial” you really have no idea who you work for Wolffe do you

- Hunter being willing to stand down when Rex asks him to

- “I know you. As your brother, I’m asking you to do the right thing” the brotherly reunions this season are just paralleling all over the place

- Gregor the handsome fellow that you are. I swear his pauldrons get bigger every time we see him

- “Let my people go” the Exodus vibes are strong here too

- Guess we’re gonna be finding out what makes this CX so special. Still can’t believe he survived.

- Rex just lost almost all of his men again 😣😭

- The sheer respect and care that Hunter and Rex have for each other. The hand on the shoulder. The losses that tie them together. The worry and earnestness in Hunter’s face and tone when he tells Rex he can’t win. He doesn’t emote this much to people he doesn’t consider family.

- The ways Hunter still is hesitant to do anything but run and hide, and Rex still can’t give up. Not quite yet.

- How Hunter won’t be able to either until they know what is really going on with Omega.

okay so i read part six when i was out of town (I WENT ON A SAFARI I SAW 18 LIONS) and here are my thoughts

1. i was on the edge of my seat for the enture starting scene thinking ohhhh fuck yhis is the angst lee talked about FOR THEM TO GO ON A MUSEUM DATE 😭😭

hi sorry this took a bit, This post will include what I currently have figured out of the main group and ideas im considering. First introductions, this is the main group, from left to right we have..

Nico (in the process of being renamed), Atlas, Star and Clover

Ph is a collaborative story I made with a friend in 2018, since then I have made these characters completely my own and I’m currently doing some renovations with it, since it’s last canon was made in 2019.

Atlas, 19(may change), they/them, 5’11” Atlas lives with their older sister (pictured below)

I haven’t fully figured out the situation with their parents, the current idea is that they work overseas. Atlas loves friends more than anything, they would go to great lengths to help a friend in need and they are fiercely loyal. they are honest to a fault and hate beating around the bush. they’re stubborn and hold grudges, they trust their instincts when it comes to people more than anything. They don’t know what they want to do with their life. I cannot decide on their pronouns or gender for the life of me TToTT

Recently I’ve been taking inspiration from 80s anime boys when drawing them. This idea has a strong possibility of being cut but the idea is that animal hybrids that are born during the full moon become werewolves (in the way that they turn into more anthro animals of what they already are, and lose their human consciousness, aka going full animal) why does this happen?…..magic ✨✨ this means that during full moons they go through incredibly painful werewolf transformations, the transformation then lasts anywhere from half a day to a week. The condition is very misunderstood socially due to legends surrounding werewolves and also a lack of medical research (due to it being magic and all) Think people not understanding just how painful it is, thinking people can control it or thinking that they turn violent

Clover, 19, she/her, 5’7” Shes focusing on getting her life back together after her fall through with Valkyrie, with the help of the friend group, she’s slowly regaining her confidence and self worth. She distracts herself from depressive thoughts by throwing herself into her studies, her friend group is against this and is trying to find better alternatives for her. Clover isn’t actually very shy or awkward, once her walls start to crumble, her true personality begins to flourish. Shes actually quite snarky. Her antlers do shed once a year, yes it’s gnarly and yes I know that only male deer shed their antlers but I don’t careeeeeeee it’s fantasyyyy. maybe they shed due to the unstable and weird biology of the hybrids, I don’t careee she isn’t blind in her right eye, it’s just white, she has heterochromia (fantasy heterochromia oooo)

Star, 19, she/her, 5’4” Star is an absolute troublemaker, she has no qualms with confronting and insulting people 10x her size. She is fiercely protective of her friends. She is quick to assume if a person is good or bad, and she stubbornly won’t admit that she is wrong until given hard evidence. She loves her name and wears stars constantly because of it. Comfortable clothing for avian hybrids is hard to come across due to their wings. And even clothing made for Avians is difficult because wing sizes are different person to person, some have very large actually functional wings and others like Star have small wings that can only glide. She does not care about eating bird meat, in fact she really likes chicken. She is the kind of cute that’s creepy, Like her eyes are really big and she stares. She also has a kind of v shaped smile Nico (not final name), 19, she/her, 6’2” Shes been the star runner of every track team she’s been on since middle school. Prefers sportsy and easy to move in clothing, mostly just so that she can start working out at the most random times. she’ll be hanging out with friends in town and suddenly just starts jogging. But she also enjoys dolling herself up. Largest advocate for self love you’ve ever seen, she WOULD date a clone of herself. If you self deprecate in her presence she will aggressively compliment and hype you up like a fitness coach. and then she will somehow rope you into some sort of physical activity “it keeps your dopamine levels up!”, how she keeps doing this is a mystery. She eats like a horse (ha!) and hates wasting food. while she means no harm she has a hard time understanding how some people can struggle with light exercise (like some people have disabilities that make it exhausting to just walk for a few mins) She does eventually get around to understanding and immediately becomes a personal coach “YOU WALKED FOR A MINUTE TODAY, LETS FUCKING GOOOOO”

Now that I’m thinking about it, there’s some interesting world building questions that arise when thinking about hybrid differences. Like do horse hybrids have separate track teams? Do they have an actual genetic advantage? And then my mind immediately thinks of gender debates and allowing trans women in women’s sports and trans men in men’s sports. I don’t know if that’s a topic I want to address in this story? I could make it so that it depends of the person (like in real life, while men have an easier time building muscle and such, it isn’t 100% and it depends on them actually building it) But that also dampens the idea that the animal counterparts actually affect the biology??BUT ALSO MAYBE IM BEING DRAMATIC AND ITS NOT THAT BIG A DEAL???

it’s just that I don’t want this to be a cat girl type of thing, where the animal parts are just cosmetic?? I don’t know if I want to include such a thing in my story BUT THINKING ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS ARE IMPORTANT!!!

I don’t knowwwww ( T^T) ( T^T) for now I have a to do list with this story: - give Nico and Star more significance other than being Clover and Atlas’ friends - Figure out the power system - see if I can salvage the current version of the story or if I’ll need to do a total rehaul - give the characters some interests and hobbies - THINK OF THE IMPLICATIONS

Doctor Strange and the supernatural characters pt 2 - Jericho Drumm

Much to my surprise, being a doctor is not the only thing Jericho and Stephen have in common. As I went through his chronology, I noticed they’re quite similar in many aspects, whether magical or personality-wise.

I’ve always loved the concept of Doctor Voodoo and had read some of his adventures, but this time around I made a complete reading and he’s still one of my favorite magic users for many, many reasons.

But first, let’s dive into his past real quick to learn more about his story, motivations and powers.

Jericho Drumm and his twin brother Daniel were born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The twins were separated when their parents died and Jericho decided to pursue a career in the USA as a pyschologist and scholar (some writers will give him another field of expertise, but it’s commonly accepted as canon that he has a doctorate in Psychology), whereas Daniel stayed and became a houngan (a voodoo priest). Upon learning that Daniel fell ill, Jericho returned to Haiti. Daniel claimed that Damballah, the loa known as the evil serpent-god, cursed him. Before dying, his twin asked Jericho to go to the jungle and meet his mentor, Papa Jambo, in order to learn magic. Jericho, at that time, did not believe in the supernatural and confronted Damballah, being defeated by forces he did not understand yet.

Papa Jambo, then, accepted Jericho as an apprentice and taught him voodoo magic. As a last attempt to defeat Damballah, Papa Jambo performed a ritual to summon Daniel’s spirit so they could become two men in one. The ritual was successful, leaving the V symbol imprinted on his forehead and the white streaks on his hair. Papa Jambo then passed away as a result, leaving the mantle of Brother Voodoo to his disciple Jericho.

He then confronted Damballah once more and defeated his enemy, whom would be later retconned to be a random evil spirit instead of the loa himself, since the loa are not considered evil spirits.

And here’s a quick disclaimer: there are lots of misconceptions and stereotypes when it comes to Haitian voodoo in the Marvel universe, mostly because it’s a real religion and many stories were not written by poc. I made a quick research but just to point a few: voodoo dolls are considered a myth, although some are used in New Orleans voodoo for tourism [1]; the term used in Sorcerer Supreme to describe Brazilian voodoo refers to the religion as "macumba”, which is a pejorative term. The Brazilian equivalent to Haitian voodoo is called Candomblé Jeje [2]; Marie Laveau is often portrayed as a evil voodoo witch, but she’s celebrated in New Orleans for help, healing and empowerment [3].

Disclaimer done, so back to Jericho. For a while, he stayed in Port-au-Prince, having his own Sanctum and accepting the help of a butler (pretty similar to Wong in his first years). He then later moved to New Orleans, fighting many enemies and teaming up with many popular heroes, such as Moon Knight, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Blade, Black Panther, Luke Cage and so on.

When Stephen considered himself unworthy of his title, the Eye of Agamotto elected Jericho as the next Sorcerer Supreme. And here I need to point out that, in my humble opinion, Jericho was nerfed from what he used to be as a magic user. I consider him waaay more powerful back then, even without the power of the Vishanti at his disposal.

When it comes to personality, Jericho has the very same introverted personality as Stephen’s in early comics, as well as the formal rhetorics, rational thoughts and kindness towards civilians.

Slowly, the readers realize that he’s also lonely and afraid of relationships, constantly pushing people away.

One may arguee that he’s been involved with many female characters, the most important being Wanda, and I agree they’re super cute together. Sadly, for editorial decision, Jericho was pushed away to hint a comeback for Wanda x Vision. Monica Rambeau was also interested in him for a while, but that writing is TERRIBLE, portraying him like a clingy (and kinda stalker) pretendent. I’d say Jericho takes things veeeeery slow because he’s afraid of relationships, as pointed out earlier. On top of that, I super hc him as aroace, because it’s rare to see him in a romantic light. It’s up to each person’s interpretation, of course.

Moving on -- and since I’m comparing him to Stephen -- let’s also talk about guilt and sense of duty. Jericho as Sorcerer Supreme is as stubborn as Stephen: he doesn’t rest, he feels responsible for every mystical issue AND is compelled to sacrifice himself in order to fulfill his role.

That’s why he ends up killed in the first place, after all. Thankfully, Doom brings him back to life (AND WE LOVE TO SEE IT).

In addition to the previous relationship Stephen and Jericho built through the years, we also have now a delicate matter, which is Daniel. Daniel was really mad at Stephen and blamed him for Jericho’s death. Since then, the spirit of Jericho’s brother was used as bargain in Savage Avengers, and to be honest, I don’t know how to feel about it, but it’s canon now, so... If Jericho is better off without his brother, so be it.

In conclusion, I do believe Jericho is a very important figure in Stephen’s life, not only as a co-worker at Strange Academy and former mentor, but also as a friend. Not to mention that he’s amazing as a stand-alone character, with a rich lore and so much potential. I find outrageous how little Jericho is used in comics. I need him in a solo title or at least in a one-shot with Zoe!

Bonus: The Vishanti and the Three-Who-Are-All

Although the Three-Who-Are-All had their debut in Werewolf by Night, Jericho was directly involved in their prophecy, joining Jack Russell and his allies in order to defeat a great evil. They're not as powerful as the Vishanti -- nor as important -- but it’s curious to see that the concept of a trinity is the same.

AAAAAAHH THE SCARA FIC!!! it was so good!! the part where he's mean to us for attempting to receive help from teyvatcord rather than the internet ( ; ω ; ) and the fact u call it teyvatcord instead of discord is so cute!! honestly I feel like that small detail made me enjoy it 10x more because I'm a sucker for little canon eastereggs—and!! the harbingers and knights of favonius mention (scaras right, that name is lame!! like, who names their team 'knights of favonius') T_T sobsob <33 scara being mad at his teammates was so adorably funny hehe — that whole little segment was so funny and domestic , him mocking us and the little bickering between us <33 AND!! I'm very flattered you liked the little easter eggs I sprinkled throughout. I like the sound of Teyvatcord; it's really cute, so I'm happy you could enjoy it as well! And the Knights of Favonius versus Harbingers for the tournament Scaramouche was complaining about... I had fun mentioning it! Hopefully his team can win in the tournament!!! ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ and subtly dropping Xiao into the story, too!! >:D aaaaa so many fun little allusions are packed in there!!

But I'm glad you liked the part where he's getting angry at his teammates (writing "can you stop spamming the chat for five seconds, Tartaglia? Damn!" had me cracking a silly smile because I could hear it in his voice so perfectly). I had so much fun writing that scene and his banter with Reader!! They have such a fun chemistry. >0< and his ego boost at learning you're a virgin!! He shouldn't let it feed his pride too much because he's also a virgin LOL. I had fun writing the sex scenes. Scara is so cute and lovable when he isn't being a bully. <3 originally, he was going to be very mean and it would be more so punishment sex than anything, but I liked the idea of Scara softening over the fact that it's your first time as well. Even he can be sentimental at times hehe!!

And cooking for you yes!!!! Beyond the death threats, he cares in very subtle ways and one of those is making sure you're always fed. It's perfect domestic malewife energy. Scara just wants you to be content when you're here as his kitten-captive-roommate???? All of those things... orz he's a loser, but he's a loser who cares and isn't that so sweet!!!! ^v^

I did indeed update the masterlist hehe!!! :D I'm happy to know you're looking forward to Idia's ficlet! As for what I am working on next, the upcoming chapter for DRU is halfway complete, so I might release it before finishing "The Most Dangerous Game" (a yan!Jade fic). After those fics, I'll either finish Dr. Riddle, the next Bittersweet Secret chapter, or begin writing yandere!Trey. I hope those fics can be something you can look forward to!!! (˚ᗜ˚*)

Between a fem Near and Fem mello who would be more popular?

Hmm idk if you meant in fandom or in canon but-!

I think fandom-wise a fem!Mello would probably be more popular, especially with a more western audience. People tend to like hot, fiery bombshell blondes (most) of the time + i think a fem!mello would have the sensual appeal that misa does. It would definitely be appealing to see more of a tough girl- especially because the other female characters are only really there to be used as pawns in light's game (aside from lidner and naomi- who did end up being tricked by him but damn if she didnt give him a time of it), and i think people would like the "take no shit" attitude. ... but it depends tho bc fandom is largely populated by a very particular annoying type of ("dudebro") fan, the type that hates female characters that are TOO loud or aggressive, the way Mello is. I find that a lot of male fans like Mello for his agression and more (stereotypically) masculine attitude (though mello is VERY queer with his croptops and leather and long hair), as well as being somewhat of an underdog- i have a feeling the same fans are the ones who'd despise the very same traits in a female counterpart.

Near would be split into three receptions. 1) hated even more feverishly- near was NOT generally liked by the fandom back then- i didnt get into DN until about... 2015-ish? But even then you could tell from the fics and fan reception more from the time that people did NOT like Near at all, and it was rare to find someone that did. I largely suspect this is because he's just very misunderstood- like being seen as emotionless/uncaring when he's just guarded, seen as cocky when hes just confident, seen as 'getting lucky' rather than credit being given to his intelligence. This would be a LOT worse if he was a girl- just look at Misa. Whilst yes, the series does unfortunately downplay her intelligence a lot and turns her into pretty much comedic relief for most of the last third, there are times you can see just how smart and calculating she can be also- that are frequently ignored because shes. Well. A girl. Same would go for fem!near- absolutely everything would be an asspull, people would hate her for being "the worse, girl version of L", and people would respond more negatively because if they already hated near for beating light to begin with, theyd hate even more for a GIRL to do it. 2) the people who'd like fem!near for the appeal of a cute female character- some fans just like cute anime girls and... tbh valid. Some people like characters less when theyre girls, some like them more! I do think early receptions to near might have been more positive if there was that moe factor (and yes near is moe as a boy too but yknow what i mean). She'd definitely be a cute waifu to a lot of people. 3) the people who like near pretty much the same, just that near is a girl now. Id definitely have found a fem!near interesting- the underdog aspect would have been even moreso, and id have loved to not only see light get his ass handed to him by a girl, but a female character who actually got the writing they deserved? Yes please!

I think both characters would be more well recieved now, the way their male counterparts are- especially near, who's much more well liked by this generation of fans than the previous one. I think people would pay them more attention, bc holy shit strong female characters who are morally grey (mello) and very neurodivergent-leaning (near but tbh mello too).

Now IN CANON i think things would be v interesting

Near might have a slightly more difficult time with her team and presenting a case- not the SPK, i genuinely dont think they'd have a problem being lead by a female lead, but i think near would definitely have a lot more problems (from external sources) in general when it came to being in an authoritative role, and would definitely see a lot more pushback when it came to decisions. So she'd let NO ONE outside the team think she was female- as far as everyone would be aware, 'N' would be a man, and the voice filters would reflect that, maybe even purposefully pitched down a little. Of course, Near is canonically voiced by a female VA anyway, so its not like her voice would change, just that she'd be more conscious of it. She'd also be aware that she could use that to her advantage, knowing Kira wouldn't be looking for a woman. This would continue when she succeeded L. As far as everyone would be aware, L would be a man- and this would benefit her greatly on field missions (if there ever were anyway), with people (if ever suspicious) assuming she'd be L's secretary at most.

Mello would definitely definitely use his- or, rather, her looks to her advantage. I think it would be a lot harder for her to climb the rungs of the mafia though, and she'd probably have to work a lot harder and rely a bit more on charming her way up than earning respect the way a man would. Still posing a threat, dont get me wrong, but she wouldn't be stupid to think that she'd ever earn the same level of respect as a man would (i mean its the mafia lets be real here idk much about the criminal underworld but i think its fair to say it's male-dominated and probably quite misogynistic). That probably makes it easier for her to gather intel on potential traitors and targets, though. But mello was never the head so much as a right hand man (at least to my knowledge feel free to correct me if im wrong), so that's probably a more palatable position to the other mafia members than if she had her eyes on the top.

Pairing: Adrian Chase / Vigilante x GN Reader Summary: You’re unable to fight due to a broken wrist from a previous mission so while patrolling Evergreen with Adrian one night, you get to sit back and watch as Vigilante takes control. Most of the time, missions go as they should and it’s usually easy peasy lemon squeezy. But that was most of the time. The last mission you and the team went on had turned a bit south and you guys got a tad fucked up. All of the 11th Street Kids needed a few rest days after this one, as the superhuman assholes beat the shit out of everyone before you managed to kill them. Adrian escaped with some gnarly cuts and bruises, and you unluckily made it out with a broken wrist, which sucked. Emilia gave the team the rest of the week off for some much-needed rest and rejuvenation. Getting home that night felt like heaven on earth, and you both slept like rocks. It was blissful staying in for a whole entire day, spending the day in bed doing nothing but relaxing and watching movies with Adrian, but you both got bored quickly, and you figured you were in good enough shape to go out patrolling. The next night, you both threw on your suits, you had to leave one glove off because of your cast, and went out for the night. The streets were quiet, the moon was bright, and the air was crisp – it was perfect weather to patrol in.

“Hey babe, if a fight breaks out, or when, because we both know we’ll find someone doing something sketchy, but when it happens, stay back and let me handle it, I don’t want you hurting your wrist, okay?” Adrian nicely demanded, he's so protective of you, you love it. You didn’t really feel up to fighting with your wrist out of commission, so you shook your head in agreement, completely fine with that decision.

“Alrighty! I’ll let you have all the fun tonight, V,” you replied, winking through your visor, he nodded. Usually while on patrol, you two just walk around Evergreen and try to find people doing illegal things, and most of the time it’s peaceful, other than the fights, but you love just aimlessly walking through the town with Adrian and chatting about whatever is on your mind.

“Maybe we could go to that used record store tomorrow? We finally have a day off and some free time, and they always have a bunch of stuff there, we always score when we go... and I need new records for that crate I just bought!” Adrian enthusiastically asked, you smiled under your mask, he loves adding to his record collection.

“That is a rad idea, I’m in, Vig, it’ll be funnnn! And we could go to that coffee place next door too, we can make it a cute little morning date!” you joyfully add, stoked about having time off to do some actual cute relationship-esque stuff with Adrian. He shook his head, and you could almost hear him smile under his mask.

“O.M.G. yes! That place makes such good donuts too, you’re so smart for thinking of it! Oh wait and the record store also has comic books too! It’s a win-win, I am psyched, hun!” he pumped his fist from excitement as you walked. You turned down a long, familiar street that you always somehow manage to find criminals on, and began walking. “Last time we were there I got that massive chocolate donut, I think I’m gonna have to get th-” Adrian instantly went silent and stopped in his tracks, he saw something. “Nine o’clock… I see a knife!” he whisper-yelled, angry from the sight he was looking at. When you spotted what he saw, rage grew in you, in an alley you saw two young women held at knife point by a group of large men, with ski masks over their faces. One woman was held with a knife to her throat, it was practically cutting her, Adrian tensed up and got out his knife. “Let me handle this…” he firmly stated with his voice deep – he was Vigilante now.

“Got it,” you replied as you both slinked over to the alleyway, you let Vigilante walk a bit ahead of you.

“Now, this is not gonna fly,” Vig deeply said, twirling his knife in his hand, the men quickly turned to him and looked spooked to see him standing before them. You looked over at the two women and their faces grew relieved as they appeared thankful to see you both. “Let them both go. Now,” he grumbled, you also took out your knife, ready to jump in if he needed you, though you knew that wouldn’t be likely.

“These costumed freaks think we’re gonna just leave?” one man scoffed, but another one widened his eyes as he looked at Vig.

“Nah, we shouldn’t fuck with them,” another man whispered, he was clearly aware of you and Vigilante’s reputation, and he probably knew well enough how this would end. The women wiggled, trying to get free.

“Listen to him and you dumb fucks will leave with only a few broken bones,” Vigilante growled, the man who knew of you let go of the woman he was holding and started backing away. The other five men didn’t budge, a few even had the balls to laugh, Vigilante straightened himself up, getting prepared to annihilate them. That one smart man ran away, and you and Vig let him, he wasn’t worth it. Vigilante got his a few more knives from his suit and started approaching them, he was focused on them, ready to take them out and save the women. All you were doing was watching, as you knew it would be a sight to see. One woman was able to get free with that one man leaving, and you gestured for her to come to you, she ran past Vig and stood next to you.

“You okay?” you asked, she nodded, tears streaming down her face. You protectively outstretch your arm prompting her to get behind you and stood in front of her, you then looked back at Vigilante. He swiftly dashed to the men, just feet away from them, and the men that weren't holding the other woman moved forward, ready to fight. He once again twirled his knives as he scanned the men deciding who would be his first victims. He looked terrifying, if you were on the receiving end of this you would be scared shitless as he decided your fate. Once he quickly decided, Vig effortlessly threw two knives into two different men’s heads instantly killing them, their bodies dropped to the ground with a loud thud. The butterflies had gotten you both used to taking headshots, so you both kinda just made a habit of it now, which was quite unfortunate for your victims. Three men were left, and they recklessly let go of the other woman who hastily ran over to you and her friend, nearly tripping over her own feet. She was also crying as they hugged, you were glad they were uninjured, and you knew Adrian was thankful too.

“Go,” you sternly say as you tipped your head to them. They both nodded.

“Thank you!” one of them eagerly yelled as they ran, hand in hand. After you saw that they made it a safe distance away, you turned back to Vigilante, who was on fire. One more body laid on the ground, and you slowly walked over to Vig so you could get a better view of the fight.

The two men were now backing away from him as he hunched over, reaching for a knife that was left in their friend’s head. They kept backing away, but they were in an alley and their backs eventually hit the fence, they had nowhere to hide. One of them raised up the tacky knife they were holding, it looked like a kitchen knife, Vig let out a menacing chuckle when he saw, then threw his knife in that man’s stomach. The man dropped, and the other man thought that was an opportunity to flee, he was wrong. Vigilante instantly noticed he tried running, and took out his gun, after taking a second to decide where to shoot him, he aimed for the man’s knee, and he toppled to the ground, groaning in pain. Vig didn’t want to use his gun too much, it was loud, so he looked over to you at the knife you were holding, you carefully tossed it to him, and he caught the handle, it landed perfectly in his hand. He leisurely walked over to the man he just shot and slit his throat, blood splattering all over his suit. That left the man with the knife in his stomach, who was begging Vig not to kill him.

“Come on man, I-” he started as Vig walked over to him, he then threw your knife into his head, he slumped over. Vig let out a deep breath and began collecting his knives, you followed suit and pulled out one knife from a criminal’s head.

"Those women said thank you when they left btw," you assured him, he nodded. “That was fuckin’ awesome, V,” you energetically tell him, he snickered, and collected your knife. He then padded over to you, wiped the blood off your knife with his glove, and handed it to you.

“Psshhh, it was nothing, really,” he modestly says, his voice returning to his normal tone. You two briskly scurry away from the crime scene you just created, not wanting to be seen by anyone. Once you got far enough away, you slowed down, and began comfortable walking, Adrian let out a deep huff.

“They were so scared of you, it was kinda… funny,” you admit, breaking the silence, he giggled, you could tell he had calmed down from the fight, he turned to face you.

“They totally were,” he said in between laughs, “Oh and thanks for the knife, came in handy,” he winked, you could tell he was smiling by the way his eyes wrinkled under his mask. “Did you enjoy the show?” he queried with his voice getting higher, you nodded.

“Fuck yeah I did, wish I had some popcorn!” you chuckle, and he skipped while you were walking, then took your good hand in his. You smile under your mask as you both walk down the empty street. “It was totally hot to see you absolutely destroy those assholes,” you admit to him, because seeing how fierce he gets as Vigilante is hot. He gasped.

“Really?” he softly questioned, you nodded, his eyes widened, and you could see the whites of his eyes through his visor.

“So hot," you seductively nod your head, not breaking eye contact. You could tell by the way he was looking at you that he wanted you, like right now.

“I liked knowing I had an audience,” he whispered as he stepped in close to you, “I thought you watching me was hot,” you snorted, of course he found you doing literally nothing hot. He then looked over your shoulder and found another alley, empty, and secluded from the street. He took your good hand and led you to it in a rush, desperate to get his hands on you. Once you got there, he pinned you against the building, your bodies colliding as he lifted up both of your masks enough for your mouths and noses to be free. He sloppily pressed his lips to yours and you could feel how he ached for you. You kiss him again, and felt fire run through you. You briefly inch away from him, but you were still close enough to feel his breath on your face.

“I’m just wondering how you found me just standing there hot, I wasn't doing jack shit,” you admit, he peered down at you through his visor.

“You’re always hot, babe,” he breathed, you bit your lip, “and please you always look so fucking sexy in your suit, like… as soon as you put it on I always wanna rip it off of you,” he muttered, you then pressed your lips to his and heat ran through both of your bodies, there was something about making out in your suits that somehow made it a thousand times hotter, and you couldn't get enough of him.

Thank you so much! I'm actually in the process of compiling a reading list for Simon, with additional tabs for further reading; of course, I'm compiling this as I'm rereading, which is a slow process bc for some reason I decided I would manually add a PSD I made & also recolour wanda in every panel which adds to the time. In the meantime though I can definitely offer some starter stories & some general stories / trivia I like. I made a guide specific to Simon & Hank's best moments a while back.

Avengers V1 #9 – the debut, pretty linear story. If you want you can read Avengers Classic #9, which is a reprint of the original story but includes a new backup issue between Simon & Janet 🤷 it's not mentioned anywhere else so it's canon is... questionable but it's there!

Simon is involved in one or two necromancy plots but the one where he really comes back from the dead begins in #151 - #153, then Avengers annual #6, #154, then Super Villain Team-Up #9 from 1975 & that arc concludes in #155. it sort of messily goes over with other stories but it's pretty good in establishing Simon's whole deal.

you can read on or just skip ahead to avengers V1 #160, where the grim reaper, eric williams, who bothered vision a lot in prior issues of Avengers , is back to bother simon. i honestly love this issue so much, it's a great intro to the stuff between simon & vision & eric.

at this point you can keep reading until avengers #211 when he quits the first time, he's sort of just there and isn't really majorly a big player but some moments i like are #181, #198 & #201 which really define the simon & hank duo that became a thing.

marvel graphic novel: emperor doom is probably my favourite wonder man solo adventure n that's because the story doesn't hinge on being there? he's just sort of the vehicle for the resolution, but the plot doesn't necessitate that he be there. i kind of like it. anyway dr doom is doing some nefarious shit with purple man & namor is there and vision dances & simon reveals he can do professional standard makeup . it's a super fun story!

wonder man vol 1 #1-#4 is simons first proper solo title and it's .... okay? it does a pretty good job at showing what simon does with himself when not fighting graviton or whatever but the plot is just not part of that whatever. there's a portal to another dimension in a machine and a bunch of tiny people come out??? it's strange but there's some cute panels of simon getting licked by a dog and also lifting a taxi so that's fun.

west coast avengers v1, & wca v2 #1-#12 when read along the sister series vision & the scarlet witch v2. the first volume isn't majorly simon intensive but the first & second issue are ridiculous in the queercoding & I think abt it a lot. wca & v&sw deal with the whole Simon/Vision/Eric conflict again which is the second & kinda the last time this conflict is done right or at all in an interesting way to me unfortunately 😔 Simon keeps showing up in WCA but his character gradually degrades until john byrne and well. it's John Byrne.

There's not a lot Simon does that's unique to his character after this. like there's one or two issues in WCA but the characteristion is sloppy & it feels more like a callback to better comics from the 70s then it does independent stories. This is also weird bc his next most major appearance is wonder man v2, his only ongoing title & not a limited series. however, it's written by gerard jones, and undeniably 90s, so i don't recommend this as a first taste for the character, ill say the first 6, 7 issues are actually fun before the series gets sucked into event hell where every issue is an event tie in & it sucks and the series never recovers. those first issues are fun though and give Simon a rich inner life independent of the avengers he never had before or will again, unfortunately at the cost of Byrne characterisation.

He blows up in Force Works #1 which is so inconsequential it feels like a joke but no for the remainder of the 90s he's just dead until Kurt Busiek brings him back and he's mostly wanda's gay Pokémon she sends out and then becomes real and uh. just hangs out. he makes out with hank in #14 of v3 which is fun, n doesn't really do much other than hang out with Wanda so. you know. that's that.

he dates carol for a bit when we hit the 2000s and everything goes to hell but again, plays second fiddle most of the time. he gets a fun story in civil war - front line which is not even the B story but the C story, and it technically begins in issue 2 but Simon shows up in 5, 6 & 7 so that's where I care. It shows an interesting side of Simon's superhero-actor persona being used for propaganda, which I think is an interesting idea. especially because Simon in this story gets blackmailed ... by S.H.I.E.L.D. Just fun conceptually & fits Simon well into 616.

simon goes evil for a bit & tries to destroy the avengers for... honestly fairly legitimate stuff? but the story is kind of dumb & basically afterwards he swears an oath of pacifism, which i would be cool with if he stopped quoting ghandi. simon fresh from 15 years dead, sure, but at this point he is savvy & has experienced enough stuff to... not quite ghandi. anyway, he's in different volumes of uncanny avengers but frankly i hate this series so. fuck it.

simon doesn't get a lot to do afterwards, really! pacifism moves the character more into failed Superman territory because he won't even fight and yet nobody takes this angle n he just hangs out? anyway the mcelroys from podcast fame write a tie-in for war of realms called journey into mystery. it's okay! Simon hangs out with Miles & Kate Bishop Hawkeye which is fun & is a big fan of Western Hollywood which fits his character bc he was around when that was one of the massive movie industries. He's also super cute with the baby in it which is sweet.

and uh, yeah! it's mostly chronological, this list, so you can get a vague feel for each era & how he's evolved. he's not major in it but if you're interested he's confirmed jewish in marvel holiday special 2005 which i think is cool. if you're wondering why i didn't include wonder man v3, well, read it if you want but the art is gross & frankly the story is nonsense n it's only saving grace is that simon, hank mccoy & carol are all hanging out like that's a regular thing which i like. if you want a more in depth reading list, i can go through more of his stuff in ms marvel appearances & his one random appearance in 90s power man & his stuff in busiek avengers, but i think this should give a good grip of the character throughout the decades while not having to read like, 100 issues lol.

a BROTP I have with said character: Ace ofc! trans solidarity in meteor is my favorite thing <3 I love to imagine that they were the first ones to support each other when the other came out. besides that, I think I'd love to see her be able to interact properly more with either Anna or Noel, or Titania. odd one on the last one, but I think their personalities would compliment each other!

a NOTP I have with said character: honestly at this point I'm wondering if I should take this question out, lmao, I'm so terrible at answering it >> probably Taka is the closest I can think of one, though. if it's done respectfully I don't really mind, but in canon their master/servant whole trope and how their interactions are coded ingame isn't so much my thing.

a random headcanon: I really enjoy the headcanon you've shared before, that she colors her hair and wears contacts to look more like Radomus and Serra! I think she looks really pretty with dark hair and the headcanon is really sweet.

general opinion over said character: really love her! she was kinda neutral middle of the pack for a while for me but I really started getting a lot more appreciation for her. I love her character design aesthetic, too, so that's a big bonus. she slays like nobody's business

a ship I have with said character: takace / royalcourtshipping my beloved. their relationship is one of my favs in the game, and they're rlly fun to both write and draw. their dialogue with each other ingame is super 🏳️‍🌈 and I love their dynamics and interactions, how Ace uplifts and encourages him to be himself while he helps them feel more grounded/relaxed. they're everything to me <3

a BROTP I have with said character: the main three Meteor admins (Taka, ZEL, Ace) all being friends is a super important friendship to me hehe. I love the three (technically, five) of them just being chill and being friends. I imagine he and Ace would be very much like... probably some of the only people in Meteor to acknowledge ZEL as "yeah these are all distinct and individual people outside of ZEL"? like Solaris acknowledges Eve but she's also like, the only one of them that has value to him, so, idk. I just think the three of them being close friends is something that can be so personal okay

a NOTP I have with said character: as mentioned before, Luna, probably, unless done respectfully. I don't really have many strong feelings about NOTPs or shipping, though.

a random headcanon: his Komala was a gift from Ace! it's the only shiny on his team and I just thought it really makes a lot of sense and is super cute. another one if that doesn't count is that he enjoys collecting different colors and patterns of scarves!

general opinion over said character: wet pathetic rat /lh. I think he's v sweet and interesting and I love his dynamics with other characters a lot! his fit does not slay (but I admire the sweatpants-to-work hustle) but it's ok Luna and Ace and ZEL make up for it for him.

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc 9

Finally reached the final volume! Really the only things I got out of this was the art and maybe the omake bits. Didn't care about the characters/plot at all lol. I guess this is a parallel universe so it doesn't contribute much to canon...It was cute though, so no regrets.

Ch. 52

-These "final battle" chapters have been a breeze to get through since it's mostly just action. I'm glad they threw a little bit of strategy in there with Taichi's explanation of the dot matrix though. Makes it feel more well thought out.

-In the previous volume I had complained about the lack of a team, but they did explain how Hideto's previous battle was crucial to winning this one, so I guess that's something. (But Zero and Taichi still have to be number one...)

-The mangaka confirmed my suspicions about Neo being an anagram for One. I guess that was pretty obvious...

Ch. 53

-So we finally see the "super ultimate" form of Arkadimon which I guess is stronger than the mega form? IDK...shit's confusing. The design kind of reminds me of the witches from Madoka. Sort of eldritch looking. I don't understand if his appendages are supposed to be like hair or tentacles...

-Sort of want to see an alternate ending where Neo achieves his goal, just so he can then fall into loneliness and despair when he's all alone in his new world (or would he be OP enough to create fake people? IDK...)

-"God Matrix" was pretty epic, but I feel like it didn't seem all that destructive despite looking like a nuke went off. We lost, what, one digimon? (One named digimon anyway)

Ch. 54

-More deus ex machina stuff. Apparently most overwrites shorten digimon's lifespan, but OH! There's a super-special-secret overwrite, the Alforce, that makes digimon power up through sunshine and rainbows! Riiiight.

-I don't like Zero's Alforce form because he looks kinda soulless now, almost like a bad guy. His "outfit" gives super sentai vibes. It's just kinda all over the place. Also, Mari said "he doesn't look like a dog anymore!" This manga keeps tryna gaslight me into thinking Zero looks like a dog when he never did lol.

-I thought the whole "Neo is doing this because of his sister's accident" thing was already established? I know Rei didn't know, but Sigma?

-Lol at Rei INSTANTLY jumping off a cliff. She didn't even hesitate for a second.

Ch. 55

-Okay, I'm going to say something hypocritical. First I was annoyed that Neo was a flat, evil-for-the-sake-of-it, villain, but now I'm annoyed that he gets to be insta-redeemed for "secretly having his heart in the right place." How are they going to pretend he still cares about his sister at this point? I feel like I could go back and find a bunch of evidence of Neo not giving a shit about Rei anymore (in fact 2 seconds ago he was carelessly tossing nukes in her direction), but oh well. I get the vibe that this franchise really likes redemption arcs.

-Lol guess Demon is the final boss after all! What a twist! I like his super ultimate look, very Go Nagai looking. Too bad his name is kinda stupid. Will Neo help fight him? (Somehow...without a partner...)

Ch. 56

-Ugh, they're doing that really tedious shounen power escalation thing. Every other chapter it's like "yes, we've powered up, no one could possibly beat us!" and then "What's this? An even STRONGER digimon!? And they know that legendary, ultra powerful technique!? This is our toughest battle yet!" and then a stronger mon/ability shows up and so on and so forth. I think the digi-formula is to drag the battle on a liiiiiittle past the point of annoying the audience to make things feel more climactic.

-They tried to give Demon some nuance by pulling the whole "liberation from tamers" schtick. I feel like there's not a ton of merit to it since it's the digimon that called the humans into their world in the first place.

-Demon says "humans created us!" I guess in this version of digimon the v-pets exist, so true (but then some just came outta nowhere like Zero?)

Ch. 57

-Okay, I'm glad they used the already established digimental's power instead of introducing more new, innate ancient digimon powers. Super ultimate Zero doesn't look super different from his prior form. It's maybe a slight improvement, but not very noticeable...

-We get a redeemed!Neo moment. I still kinda wish he'd answer for his crimes more, but maybe that comes later. They're kinda busy right now lol

-The digimental looks pretty different from the ones in the anime. Reminds me of an exsphere (from Tales of Symphonia)

Ch. 58

-This was a pretty paint-by-numbers ending. The day is saved, everyone celebrates and then the kids have to go back to their world. One element that set this apart from the anime is that there's still the v-pet element so Taichi is technically still acting as Zero's tamer. How things look from Zero's POV we'll never know.

-The ending reveal of everyone's human world counterparts threw me back to Dot Hack, especially with Rei in her wheelchair. Sigma without a mask was cute, I like how there's some subtle shipping with him and Mari in the background.

Omake - A New Courage

-Lol Taichi and Taichi, now we're getting REALLY meta! They did a good job of visually distinguishing the two Taichi's while still making them nearly identical. The art was definitely the most fun part about this omake.

-Agumon looked soooo cute in this ;w; so tiny next to Zero! And he gets to ride on his shoulders <3

-Why did Zero devolve (de-digivolve?) in this? I thought in the manga universe that wasn't a thing...

-The excuse for the plot this time was pretty lame "oh, the humans are making viruses and stuff so that manifested in our world," yeah whatever. Again, it kind of annoys me how anime!Taichi just instantly agrees to help with a battle that could take ages when he should be more concerned if he'll ever see his friends again.

Overall this was like a C+ experience. Perfectly serviceable, but not super memorable. In MAL terms I give it like a 5 outta 10. What do you call shounen for younger kids anyways? Super shounen? Baby shounen? There's gotta be a term out there...

ohh I had to think about these, they're hard ones XD 1. I'm a sucker and I usually just go with canon ships, so I don't have many ^^;; I'm sure there's a bigger one I'll remember someday, buT specifically I remember in ---idk if you've ever seen the anime "koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui" (because I forget the English title, I watched it in like a day)--- there's the main love interest who's this blonde guy who's a salaryman and he gets saved by this high school girl and falls in love with her and so on, but her classmate is also in love with her, and I know the anime is set up for you to like the salaryman with her, but I have to pick the classmate personally. Not even because of the age difference, I just like him so much more, he's so nice, like what. why is she making that choice. what, why ??

Oh and I also love gladion/moon. It's not canon because it's a pokémon game and like. they're 10 in-game. but the dynamic? lovely. I love it. Cute girl who's bubbly and will barge into your room and the edgelord™ who says "get out" but doesn't actually mean it because he has a soft spot for her even though they're supposed to be enemies? when they team up later and get to work together?? when right before the elite 4 he stops her and says that he appreciates it and can only show his emotions through pokémon battling or whatever? please 5. uhhhh maybe hiccstrid?? That's one from my childhood though, so I don't really seek out content for it, keeping it sacred and what not (that said I do enjoy fanart and stuff of them when I see it ^^) but they're probably the ones that are the most chill and actually canonically in a happy/healthy relationship haha 24. I like a lot of the popular tropes -v- anything cute, especially if it has meaning to that specific pairing. That said, something more specific: I love anything and everything where they're speaking to each other and they mean something else. Like I think it's hard to do well and it's not very common, but I love the "we're talking about this thing in front of us, or the movie we're watching, or some characters in a book or something, but really we're being honest and open and vulnerable to each other from behind this very thin and poorly-concealed veil because we're both too shy to be straightforward but we still long with our entire beings to show ourselves honestly to the other anyway" like that gets me every time, everyone should do it anyway thanks for the ask!! I love thinking about these and trying to come up with good answers ^w^;;
