Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc 8
Another mysterious appearance by a main character looking dude on the inner flap of this volume. He kinda looks like that Ryo guy from the Adventure 02 Ken flashbacks. Guess I'll find out...
Side note: apparently Arkadimon won 3rd place in the Japanese popularity poll? How!? He's literally the most boring digimon ever!
Ch. 46
-How are we on the final battle already if there's a whole other volume after this one? Either this isn't the final battle and they'll pull some "secret final boss" nonsense (it is the Digimon way) OR vol. 9 will just be like epilogue stuff. I'd prefer the latter
-In the scanlation I'm reading Taichi says "attacks won't work on Arkadimon, let's try direct attacks!" I kinda got what they were going for, but it's a bad translation, so I looked at the original Japanese. They use 必殺技 (hissatsuwaza) and 直接 (chokusetsu). So, special attacks don't work, but direct attacks do. Kinda like when you can't use magic on some enemies in games.
Ch. 47
-You see, ripping up Zero's wings and stabbing him through the chest has kind of lost all impact at this point. Not only is this a kid's manga so I know he'll be okay, but also we've already seen him recover from those specific injuries before.
-Gabo and Rei are cute together, I could see them as protagonist/partner in an alternate version of this story.
Ch. 48
-Wow, they're really going hard with this "rock bottom" moment. I know things will turn out okay, but if I was a dumb 8 year old who's never read anything like this before, I might be kinda shook
-Neo continues to be a flat character. You would think adding his sister to the story as a good guy would cause him to have some kind of inner conflict, but he's just evil for the sake of evil and his sister being around has had zero impact. Boooo
Ch. 49
-Not much happened in this chapter, they just explained how the Dot Matrix attack works and prepared to fight Neo's army. Zero is in the ICU and Taichi's basically catatonic. I feel like the level of despair being conveyed by Taichi is a little more than we ever saw in the anime. Manga always tends to be an edgier medium.
Ch. 50
-This whole time I've been calling him "Leomon," but he was actually Panyamon (the white reskin). Also, Dominimon is new...not as badass looking as Seraphimon
-The "all digimon give Zero strength" scene was a good opportunity to bring back some one-off background characters. Cute to see that some of them have digivolved too.
Ch. 51
-Okay, I'm not crazy for thinking it was Leomon because they literally call him "Leo" lol
-Kinda don't like how Zero and Taichi are the "chosen ones" and no one else can even scratch Arkadimon. It would be more interesting if they worked as real team where everyone balances each other out. I guess why they don't do solo MCs in the anime...
Omake - Hot Blooded!
-So I was right, we get a crossover with Ryo due to a Wonderswan promotion. It's nice to see a different MC design for once! He kind of reminds me of Lloyd Irving
-This was shorter and had a sillier tone than the other crossovers. It was kind of stupid that they defeated Demon's henchman via "hot bloodedness," but it was funny how equally matched Taichi and Ryo were in personality.
-I wish we could have seen more of -checks wiki- Monodramon. I really like his design. Very Spyro the Dragon.
I can't believe there's only one more volume left! I feel like I zoomed through this. As far as I can tell, Digimon really isn't known for its manga, so it's been interesting to see some of the neglected bits of the franchise. It's definitely a kids and super fans only kinda situation because neither the plot or characters are that deep or unique. I guess that makes a nice brain-off read though.

Another month, another poll and this one’s special as yesterday was Digimon’s 25th anniversary!
And while I missed this big milestone of a franchise I love and grew up with, i’m making up for it just in time for the big release of the oft delayed Digimon Survivie next month. And you fine folks get to pick how!
And to sweeten the pot i’m diving into an area of the digital world I haven’t really explored but an area that is my forte: Comics! Specitically two manhwa and two manga as picked by me and my patrons. If you want a say in what the public will vote for next month, go

At one dollar a month you get to pick a candiate for the polls AND get a free review two months after signup. 5 bucks gets you a guarnateed review slot as long as your a patron. For now you can pick one of these for me to review the first volume of blind. They are:
Digimon Tamer V-01: One of the earliest versions of the franchise running right alongside the tv show and containing elements it’d codifiy, Tamer V-01 follows a diffrent if identical looking Tai who after being barred from a tournament because his digimon isn’t recognized, ends up beating the champ. He soon ends up in the digital world and must team up with said unknown digimon, a Veedramon named Zero and a Gabumon Named Gabu to find the 5 tags and save the digital world.. all while fighting the same champ he just bested.
Digimon Adventure: In a retelling of the Anime classic, 6 vastly different kids going to summer camp instead end up in the Digital World. They soon find out their the Digidestined, children chosen to pair up with a digimon and change them into digital champions to save the digital world.
Digimon Adventure 02: The adaptation of the sequel to the above. It’s a few years later and the Digital World is in peril again.. this time from without as a kid who was meant to become a new digidestined instead assumes it’s all a game and sets out sociopathically conquering the digital world. With regular digivolution no longer an option rendering most of the original digidestined unable to hlep, it’s up to Tai and Kari , now grown up, to assemble their friends into a new team and use armored digivolution to save the digital world.
Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters: One of the more recent comics based on the third most recent series, Applimonsters is a spinoff following a digimon-like species based around apps. WHen a youngster finds a special drive for his phone, he soon partners with one of these monsters and must save the digital.. er human world. Shockingly it’s our world in direct danger this time and i’t sup to him and his friends to stop it.

I grew up watching the German Digimon Dub, and also played a lot of Digimon World, DW 2003, Rumble Arena, and more, in my childhood.
I haven't played all Digimon games yet, but I'm working on it!
I love all original Digimon Anime seasons, Adventure to Savers. I haven't gotten around to watching any newer ones myself yet.
My favorite Digimon is Bearmon! If I had a Bearmon Partner Digimon, this would be the evolution line:
YukimiBotamon > Kapurimon > Bearmon > Gryzmon > Pandamon > Dianamon
I mostly try to post cards in English to make the card text more accesible to everyone. If you see a post with Japanese Card text, I'll update it once the English version is out.
The Official Digimon Card Game Twitter didn't start sharing cards regularly until around BT-08, and anything before BT-05 is especially hard to find. I usually have to edit multiple versions of the image together. I hope you all appreciate the effort!

While on the Fandom Stats website, I got curious and did some research about the Digimon Fandom!
Disclaimer: These statistics will only be accurate to the Archive of Our Own website, and will not include statistics about the fandom on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Fanfiction.net
When searching for fanfiction about Digimon on AO3, there are a total of 6,616 underneath the general "Digimon- All Media Types" tag. This is not a fair representation of the total numbers of Digimon fanfiction, as there are FIFTEEN Digimon categories an author could label their story under.
Listing from highest number of fics to fewest fics, these other categories include (as of Nov. 5, 2022):
Digimon - All Media Types: 6,619 fics
Digimon Adventure Zero Two: 2,637 fics
Digimon Adventure: 2,037 fics
Digimon Adventure tri: 1,043 fics
Digimon Tamers: 602 fics

After inputting all of this data (aside from the “Digimon - All Media Types” tag, as this tag can reference all Digimon media) into a graph, it is clear to see which characters the fandom tends to favor:

Digimon Adventure Zero Two takes the lead, while Digimon Adventure follows close behind. Between the two, there is only a difference of 600 fics. These numbers are unsurprising, as most Digimon official events revolve around the Adventure and 02 cast!
According to the Fandom Stats website, fanfiction (specifically AO3) in the Digimon Fandom heavily gravitates towards General Audiences, with a total number of 2,551 fics using this tag. Other tags include:

While Teen and Up Audiences have 2,214, Mature and Explicitly tagged fics have a combined 1,307 fics.
Now, onto the pairings! Though 35% of the fics are general, the other 65% of fics include some kind of romance!

In the lead, we have M/M relationships at 33%. Of these 2,155 fics, 29.7% are Daisuke/Ken! Taichi/Yamato are a close second at 22.5%. (Taichi/Koushiro comes in at 7.5%, and Daisuke/Takeru is last at 6.2%.)
With 1,889 fics, F/M relationships share 29% of the total non-general fics. Of these, 18.6 percent are Takeru/Hikari! Sora/Yamato cover 17.7%, while Taichi/Sora covers 8.6%. Lastly, we have Mimi/Koushiro at 7%.
I couldn’t find any statistics on F/F, Multi, or the Other categories, but I will try to search in the future.
On the Archive of Our Own website, the fandom shows clear favoritism in characters and pairings! Now, I wish there was a way to factor in data from Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, and FanFiction.net. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc 7
There's a mysterious tamer/partner on the inside of the cover of this one. Will there be another crossover omake or are those just new characters...?
Ch. 41
-Neo really reminds me of Yami Bakura with his heavy eye liner and white hair. (Except he's less interesting cuz he was rotten from the start).
(God, Yu-Gi-Oh! could get ugly...)
-Omegamon powering up via the "power of hope" and then the other side characters conveniently being like "we still have things to do here, so we can't go with you, Hideto" felt pretty contrived. I guess whoever wrote this likes to handle a small amount of characters at once and I can respect that.
-Yaoi anatomy spotted. Neo's waist is literally slimmer than his neck. What is this Winx Club!?
Ch. 42
-I stand corrected, we're now cutting back and forth between Hideto and Taichi and the rest of the gang. I like this, keeps the pace quick and the plot interesting.
-Neo's henchmen (Neo Devimon) beating up Omegamon when he was already half dead felt pretty dark. Are they called Neo Devimon because of Neo or is that just an awkward coincidence? lol
Ch. 43
-Jijimon kinda looks like a little furry penis lol. In black and white it's hard to distinguish where his head ends and his body begins.
-What was Birdramon there for (next to Jijimon)? Literally served zero purpose...
-Suddenly they threw all these new digimon at me at once! I had to look up where Callismon's name comes from and apparently it's supposed to be a reference to Callisto. All the new digis are boring to me because they're the buff, robo-cop-esque variety. Meh. (This is why I prefer Pokemon designs, more animal-like and cute compared to digimon's human-like and manly)
Ch. 44
-Whelp, that explains why I've never seen Callismon before, Neo created him! Whenever they introduce these man-made digis, I wonder what their fate will be in terms of reappearances. Will we never see Callismon in another part of the franchise since Neo wouldn't be around? Guess we'll see...
-Not much happened this chapter, just some predictable battling -yawn- a lot of padding in this manga.
Ch. 45
-Boring end to a boring battle. Once again, this just felt like padding.
-Demon's castle looks more like a factory plant than a castle. Ooglay
-Neo is such a sore loser. Every time his minions lose he's like "no, you see, I MEANT to do that. All according to keikaku."
-Digimon Frontier Generation Omake
-This volume ends with a one-shot Frontier cross-over omake. Why did they just skip over Tamers? Oh well...I've never seen Frontier so this is my first exposure to it. Feels backwards...
-What time period is this supposed to take place in? Taichi and Takuya just get yanked out of their own adventures and into a new one. Realistically, shouldn't they be like "uh, I'm kinda busy!" Especially Taichi who was on his way to Demon's castle lol. Maybe time freezes when you go to a parallel world tho...
-So Frontier has humans digivolving? Do they all digivolve into human-like digimon? I hope not...that sounds boring. Also, I guess that means way less characters and higher stakes for the kids? I think I would miss the digimon-human relationships...(Edit: apparently they have a human form and a beast form, but the beast form looked pretty human-like to me so meh).
-So is Babamon parallel world Jijimon or does Babamon also exist in Taichi's world? I bet we'll see them paired up at some point lol
-They really said "I know, brown hair and goggles!" for Tamers' protagonist. -sigh- groundbreaking...
-Zero uses Dragon Impulse, but wasn't that the attack he was supposed to never use again? Fuck his lifespan I guess...
-This manga had some kind of barcode gimmick that I can't use without a toy. Wonder what they do lol...I do think it's a clever gimmick that I would have enjoyed as a kid. It'd probably be a QR code nowadays.
This felt very similar to the Digimon Adventure 02 collab. Fluffy little filler omake where two worlds collide and the kids learn to respect their differences. I'll always enjoy a crossover, even if they are kinda low effort.
