Hiii!!!! Continuation on that Necromancer Tim au, what if in order to revive Jason, a life had to be exchanged for it? And this is gonna tie into that one undying joker au, but what if Tim decided to use joker for the ritual? He kills joker for Jason, which brings Jason back to life, but due to joker being undying his soul wasn't properly exchanged which is why despite the fact that Jason was revived, he was catatonic until he was dipped in the Evil Mountain Dew.

As for why Tim revived him, I feel like it would be partially revenge because Batman doesn't kill, but that doesn't mean Tim can't. He isn't Robin yet, so he cares less about killing. It could also be because Jason was taken too early. I heavily headcanon that Tim's favourite Robin was Jason (no hate on Dick's Robin, but Tim was a fan of the flying Graysons and Dick himself.) Maybe he got attached. Maybe it's some other reasons. But mainly, maybe he killed Joker for the ritual because maybe then Joker can actually be good for something for once in his life.

Bruce, of course, doesn't find out because undying Joker was revived again and just went back to business as usual. Your choice if Joker Junior still happens in this au, but if it does, It would be as some sort of twisted revenge from Joker, I guess? You loved Jason enough to try and kill me, so now you'll become like me, or smth like that. Additional angst if Jason finds out about that.

Moreover, this could be seen as Tim taking the burden of killing from Bruce (cuz he doesn't know about the whole undying thing yet), because (if I remember correctly, please correct me if I'm wrong) Jason was seriously against killing too back when he was still alive, and even tried to stop Bruce from killing someone. So, in order to keep Jason's perception of Bruce once he's back and alive positive, Tim takes on the burden on killing so that Jason will only be mad at him, not Bruce.

Let's do a timeline

10 year old Tim Drake gets captured by Joker

Jason goes with Dick to hang with the Titans

Bruce finds Tim with the Joker. Tim kills Joker. They assume he's forever dead.

Bruce brings Tim back to the cave only for the kid to sneak out. Bruce never finds out his identity nor tells Jason/Dick about JJ

Joker comes back to life. Bruce and Tim assume that they just didn't check his pulse well enough (Batman left the body there for GCPD to deal with the traumatized child)

Tim spends the next two or so years reading mental health books to heal himself. Maybe he gets an anonymous therapist or something

Jason dies

Tim blames himself for not ensuring Joker was dead. He figures he might as well guarantee it sticks. What better way than to bargain his soul for Jason's?

The ritual goes wrong cause immortal Joker sucks

Tim is convinced Jason didn't revive at all and leaves the graveyard.

Jason catonically boogies his way into LoA's grasp

Tim becomes Robin cause what else is he supposed to do with Sir Beats-a-Lot?

Tim keeps on killing as Robin behind Bruce's back very very occasionally so as to not get caught. He figures he tried to kill Joker twice and killed Jason (by fucking up the ritual). With his thirteen year old logic, that means he's a killer forever. Might as well lean into it.

I love the other bits you've added about what Tim's mindset was like during these times. I'd so like to see what both Jason and Tim are thinking/feeling as they learn what the other went through

asking you about the au hiii

(This is about my villain!Kaz AU)

OK, so. The AU isn't actually that well thought-out? It's just a 'what if Kaz and Oliver getting their power from the Arcturion had consequences + EF was better'.

It starts with the EF team hunting down the people who destroyed Mighty Med (Rodissius & co. dont exist). They encounter some type of League of Villains who want to destroy all heroes blah blah. Meanwhile Kaz & Oliver are still dealing w Oliver's mom and the Arcturion's consequences. Oliver becomes convinced that he's a Dangerous Individual who's going to Snap at any minute. As an extension of this, he develops OCD, specifically harm and contamination OCD, as well as compulsions centering around safety and whatnot.

The League of Villains is beating the EF so bad that eventually they realize that there's -- gasp -- a traitor in their midst! Annnd the traitor is Kaz (dw, it's later revealed that Kaz was just pretending so that he could destroy the League from the inside).

Oliver is absolutely devastated by Kaz's betrayal but eventually learns to be independent and stand on his own.

Also: guess who else is in the League? All our favorite villains, including Megahertz, Experion, Marcus, hell possibly even Troy if I can squeeze him in. Also Daniel (Danielle in this AU bc i <3 transfems). Sebastian is not in the League bc he's gone rogue and no one's seen him in forever.

I think it'll end with Bridget helping him destroy the League? But again idk, I'm not actually writing it (yet?), just imagining it.

B-plots:

- Marcus was found by Megahertz instead of Giselle and they develop a father-son relationship.

- The government discovered Danielle years before Bionic Island so she's been locked up the whole time, Marcus briefly teams up with Tecton in order to save her, she goes with Tecton at first but he's not supportive of her bloodthirsty vigilantism so she goes back to Marcus and Megahertz.

- Marcus + Tecton bonding time!

- Bridget & Nelson team up.

- Alan is alive, Horace is not.

- Leo and Adam at the Academy.

- Issues with the government, the Academy, and hero/villain politics are brought up.

omg hi, I didn't know you before today but please give me as many of the numbers from the gw2 ask game for gliaster as you want. I am fascinated.

GW2 ASK MEME 3: Back and worse-er than ever (accepting still I guess. Just slow.)

Putting it under a readmore because. Long. (Also cw for some animal cruelty mentions, dark topics implication and the usual spoilers for LWS4E3 long live the lich~)

1.) Your character is now the leader of their species, whatever that looks like for them (Arcane Councilmember, Imperator, Royalty, etc). How do they govern and what sorts of changes would they make if any?

They would certainly reform education in some way. That's all I can think of rn... :')

2.) What class would your character just absolutely blow at?

(CW: Animal cruelty)

Ranger. They would use any and all animals they find/come across for some kind of fucked up experiment. None of them would stay alive.😞

3.) What person impacted them the most?

*Shows a picture of them surrounded by 500 Joko statues. Surprisingly.*

*Coughs* Anyway, yeah, the moment the asura first learned about Joko in a corner of a library, the impact was made. Gliaster cares about nothing but necromancy and seeing that there was this powerful lich out there was just the cataclysm of everything. Like a god. That man was so otherworldy for Gliaster in everything, even decades later they can't let go of him. Ever.

4.) Assuming they're a commander, how close were they really to Destiny's Edge? To Trahearne?

5.) What would they look like as the side character in someone else's story?

IDK I can only think of as a trope, like in general. Cuz yeah they're kind of a side character for Joko but it's Complicated.

Anyway, they would be the type of side character that's like always around in the background, kind of like as a running gag. Not even them personally always but like a picture of them. Just always there in the corner of your eyes... Always watching.....

6.) They're now a heart NPC/part of a string of quests. What does that involve?

Hhh I have way too many ideas for this. One that would be similar to the Vabbi heart at the Necropolis (Help the living and the dead at the Necropolis) with processing and honoring the dead but also one where they're in Tyria in disguise (they're a wanted criminal in there so gotta be careful lol) spreading Joko propaganda which would be just the opposite of a heart in Ebonhawke. 😭 (Help the people in Ebonhawke). I'm sooo original.

Something other I can think about is some generic asura stuff helping around the lab or with experiments, possibly again involving animal cruelty or even worse, but I already wrote a similar heart for Rikka. 😞

7.) Do they have any skills or abilities that their class wouldn't normally have/just go about their class differently in some kind of way?

Ohhh boy yes they do. 😈 So, they're a necromancer, but with some sub-abilities similar to other classes/specializations' abilities.

For example they CAN "manifest sand shade" like an in-game scourge, but it's actually sand manipulation. They can use sand to lift or carry objects, for example caskets or even themself. They like to make themself taller this way hehe.

They can also summon fire in/around their left hand due to a Djinn's blessing, but can only use it as a light source and can't attack with it.

But most importantly, and also the most powerful of them all, they can manipulate other living beings' blood in their veins, essentially controlling them like puppets. This costs great energy though, so they only use it as a last resort. Later however, when they themself become a lich, this limitation ends and this becomes their main way of practicing necromancy.

8.) How willing are they to bend/break the rules for their cause (be it selfless or otherwise)?

They will literally commit murder for it so yes, very willing.

9.) What's an AU for them you think could be fun to explore?

I do have two AU ideas... one of them fun, one of them just fucked up (and fun. for me.)

The fun: Inquest AU sort of, but so far it's only in the Mists because Inquest member Gliaster is my WvW toon, and haven't really explored it much. Only fashion-wise. Yet.

The fucked up: An AU where Joko somehow has remains. For Gliaster to keep to themself and do whatever with it. And probably prevent any future tragedies that exist in their main verse because of this... :') Exploring dark/taboo sides of my OCs like my life depends on it...

10.) Would/does knowing their backstory change how people (in general but also Tyria at large) view them?

Probably not, it's not like they have a tragic backstory and that's why they are "evil", why they like necromancy or are siding with Joko. Even when they become a lich and seek revenge against Aurene and the Commander, their past doesn't really redeem them.

11.) How accurate is their reputation/image compared to how they really are?

Quite accurate. They don't really show a fake image and are very honest. Their reputation is basically "murderous traitor" in Tyria and "weird little cruel guy who's also Joko's lover" in Elona, so yep.

12.) Have they "completed" the map? What does that look like in your canon?

In-game they do have full map completion of core Tyria and every other map as well because they're my main and I do every story with them, but in canon... A bit of here and there in core Tyria. They used to have a travelling era before they permanently moved to Elona. But they surely have the Crystal Desert and Elona "completed." But they don't explore every tiny bit of areas like how it is done sometimes in-game to get map completion.

13.) What is the worst/funniest/dumbest article that could be written about them in Tyria's trashiest gossip mag?

In Tyria...some big dumb lie of how they betrayed and murdered the Priory excavation team on their way to Elona. People would blow it out of proportion for sure.

Then in Elona.....people would probably distastefully curious and disgusted about their sexual life with Joko.

14.) Biggest misconception about them?

Not quite a misconception but their looks are quite misleading; they're small and have quite a high pitched voice. Probably nobody would assume from first sight that this little creature tortures and murders people on the regular. First, for science/knowledge, then in Joko's name, and later, their own satisfaction.

15.) What is their favorite and least favorite part of being the commander (or whatever role they play in your canon)?

While they enjoy the privilege of being close to Joko, they also love the luxuries that come with it. What they don't like...hmmm...Head empty no thoughts, so nothing comes to mind, but might edit later if I think of something. :^D

OKOK SO! Janette dies twice in this story now :D the description for stuff is a bit gory? I think?

So the first time is from Adele burning down the cult building with janette inside it so uh not fun. and then while she’s dying, a sprite 2.0 (the ones that can bring you back to life) is like heyy buddy you want to make a deal? so they do and now janette is alive again, but the catch is that if her skin gets cut, bright blue flowers will grow from the wound, like image the skin and under it all the flowers are clustered, waiting to grow and when they get a chance, they burst through the skin.

So now Janette has to stay in the woods since she’s been labelled as dead. Her son/nephew Oliver is handling her ‘death’ well! (he’s not he tried to make a summoning circle) so she has to wait in the woods until someone she trusts turns up, that person being Carmela’s mum Maria, since Maria used to be part of the cult (janette used maria against carmela so carmela would cut off ryan’s arm)

Not sure what happens in the span of time between that and janette’s second death but I do know that Ryan’s sister Claire dies and Ryan becomes the monster boy he is.

Janette’s second death is by her son grabbing a gun, since Adele told him that Janette is a Fetch ( a monster that takes the form of a loved one to trick you) and now Oliver doesn’t trust his mum anymore. So she gets shot in the chest but shot in a way that if you applied pressure and called an ambulance you’d be ok. But the flowers from the sprite curse are waiting to grow so the moment she gets shot, the flowers start to push their way out of her chest (sorry thats a bit gory?) and begin to make more damage. So bascially she doesn’t die from the gunshot, she dies from the flowers choking her lungs and heart :D (yay?) and its a very slow and painful death D:

Also while she’s lying there like oh fuck, Adele turns up and is like hiii fuck you. and Adele stands infront of her dying and talks about like ‘hey i kind of wanted to kill you since you’re a bitch but yeah i guess this’ll have to do’ and once Janette dies- well still conscious but not able to do anything, she gets burnt alive. by adele. (writing it out is like GOD DAMM OH NO it sounds worse when i type it)

Yeah :D thats what happens? There is more stuff like little details about the other characters and backstories but that’ll be said later! Sorry for the quite violent stuff

I'm sorry all I can imagine is Adele staring at Oliver dumbfounded like: how the FUCK did you fuck this up.

Well, If we're talking about the grishaverse things - I am a huge fan of Jordie lives AUs - just love the dramacity of "omg kaz's brother was alive and happy the whole time and his thirst for revenge turned out to be completely pointless" plotline. Ofc I really love kanej with all my heart, wesper and helnik ain't far behind. Aaand I am a rarepairs enthusiast, I like Kaz/Nina, Inej/Nina, Jesper/Kaz etc :D

In general, I'm honestly not super crazy about Subaru's drama CDs. :'') I feel like a lot of them are kind of lacking in terms of character development, especially compared to some of the other characters.

That being said, his Bloody Bouquet CD will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first solo CD I listened to and part of the reason why I fell for Subaru. uwu

I also enjoyed his Daylight CD very much even though Rejet fucked up with the audio and some parts of the plot made absolutely zero sense lol. I still thought it was incredibly touching how he was willing to literally give his heart to the MC to keep her alive. ;w;

hi love, hope you're doing well, I know a lot of people say this BC it's true but your posts and advice and wisdom etc etc is just sooo lovely to read honestly. so I saw you used to be a TA but quit cos it was like too much for your mh and stuff I'm in the exact same position rn and I just wondered if u have any like info/advice anything really like... obv dw about me taking whatever u say as too final but like, is it a silly job role to have when ur someone who really finds life so draining so easily and struggles w mental health often? like even tho working w kids is lush in general. cos Im on a break rn w an agency and then planning on going part time at some point but even then that seems scary af.

hiii sorry for the late response to this - i hope you still see it. i wanted to say i totally understand being overwhelmed in this way. working with kids can be wonderful but it is also absolutely draining and when you're already emotionally drained just in general- it gets to be a lot. i was at a breaking point with it, too. just the constant pressure of it. needing to take a step back is absolutely fine. last time i worked childcare, i was (i guess i still am lol) incredibly depressed, and with the insane hours i was working (it was a nursery that stayed open late LOL) and the high-stress esp for low pay (apprenticeship wages 🙄) it just wasn't sustainable. something had to give at that moment for me to feel like staying alive was even possible, and it's alright to admit that. i think when i quit, i even told my boss something along the lines of "im not giving the children the presence of mind they deserve because im in a really bad place right now', and it kind of helped me to frame it that way. that by doing what was right for me, i would also be doing what was right for the kids, even if it was painful and bittersweet and made me feel like a failure.

i guess i also want to say that just because you're feeling this way right now, like you need to pull the brakes on your job a little bit, doesn't mean you always will. and two (or more) things can absolutely be true at once - you can be great at what you do, have a genuine love for it, want to return to it in the future, and still be completely fucking exhausted by it all. i think doing what you can to reach out in terms of your mh and making that a priority would definitely serve you well in the long run. i took a break from it and now, when im starting to consider seeking part-time TA work again, i can see advantages of the job now that im looking from afar + after a break to recalibrate my mind and my approach. part-time hours might be a great compromise for you that works out - its a lot less overwhelming and a lot more manageable - but if that still ends up feeling like too much for you, that's okay. it's pretty clear that you're burnt out and in need of some deep emotional rest and catharsis, someone to talk through your feelings with so you can examine where they come from and how to cope with them healthily in the future, which is totally understandable - most people need that or a version of it at one point or another. i know the nhs is on its last legs esp in terms of mental health care, but i would encourage you to ask your doctor for a referral + seek out support groups in your area or any cost-effective private therapy practices if that's an option for you (a lot of them are willing to work with clients to agree on a manageable price.) anyway sorry for rambling, i think i just wanted you to know that you have numerous ways forward here and that your current stress level is completely justified + relatable to me as a TA with MH struggles. i think it's about finding a balance, whatever that looks like for you. im rooting for you and if you want to talk about this a bit more, i will be here. also, thank you so much for the kind words 💌💌 they really made my morning feel a bit less shit. i know im just a stranger and nobody has to take my words seriously or listen to them ever and it means a lot that they sometimes do. sending a big hug your way. it's ok to put yourself first for as long as you need and are able to! X

OC x OC for me (tragic) lad Spitfire (because you like him)! Either platonic or Romantic! Both works, but if just one then Platonic!

He's Hardcase's older brother by minutes and picked up Case's leg bouncies when he's nervous. He was supposed to be a commando, but was transferred shadily by a trainer to artillery for the 210th for four months, where he was then put back as a footsoldier and later was returned to Commando, but he chose to remain with his squad. He would feel guilty otherwise! Would die for Case, but Case dies first. He's a bit of a wreck and grows his hair out so he doesn't see Case when he looks in the mirror. He has a memorial for him in his room. Case drew his face tatts on his commando helmet, and he tattoos 'if there's a brother I'd want to be like, it's you' with something he associates Case with on the top half of his left peck. Does this for Gregor too on his right shoulder :'( Boy enjoys speeder riding (and heavy guns like Case, but his main weapon is always a repeater rifle like the Commando he is). Doesn't even hesitate to get his chip removed once his general's secret investigation is known to him.

When he laughs, it's mostly from his chest and he squints his eyes entirely closed. Always goes to 79s to catch up with Case, and he favours cider made from cider apples over anything else. Regularly does his commando workouts and always tells his brothers and team he's proud of them, the same way he used to tell Case.

As one last sad moment, he has all the names of the Vode he loves most on his left wrist, small but super neat and in their individual hand, he has a date between S3 and S4 where the 210th were given the 'Krell Treatment' on the back of his left shoulder, and he marks the date of order sixty-six on the other side with 'this clone kills no Jedi'. He keeps his Republic cog tattoo beneath his collar, too, but puts a rebel overlay on top.

Boy gets watery eyes when he's emotional, but it takes a big loss for him to sob, too, and he likes hugs!

Finally! If he thinks someone he cares about has died, but they come back alive, he's hugging them so tight, too [Gregor discovered this and might have laughed to hide his crying face you never know]

Tal!

Tal is my OC for the Right to Love matchmaking AU, but in the normal timeline, Tal works as a therapist and psychiatrist. They love to drink tea and recommend new blends to friends, and I feel like they happen to be at the same tattoo parlor as Spitfire one day and decides, You know what, I'm going to talk to a stranger today and give them some tea.

Spitfire is probably a little taken aback, but Tal is just very calm and serene and chill, and is like "here, you look like you need this." And Tal thinks that will be the end of it, that they'll never see the man from the tattoo parlor again--but then they do. Just randomly while Spitfire is on shore leave and exploring Coruscant. Then they do the spiderman pointing meme. And then they go to an actual tea shop and talk for a good while.

It's a good thing that Spitfire is physically affectionate, because Tal is a hugger, too. Saying hello? Hug. Bidding farewell? Another hug. Spitfire makes them laugh? You guessed, hugs!

Because of their education and training as a psychologist, probably a very good, neutral ear for Spitfire to talk to and gain insights on. Tal is Very Good at listening and offering advice when it's wanted, but they also fully understand the power of just a warm mug of tea, a cozy blanket, and a fluffy pillow. So that's exactly what Spitfire gets when on shore leave.

I totally get what you're saying about the fandom, some years ago there was just so much content and people used to interact a lot. In the other side of the map, Zeke Jaeger is crushing rocks with his hands. The little fragments of broken rocks make cuts on his hands. He clenches his jaw and throws them, hitting some enemies. He feels Porco’s titan fast steps behind, probably trying to break the machines. Also Pieck’s fighting near him, as usual. He feels all his body tired and the blood in his hands is starting to get dry. But he keeps fighting. Maybe that’s why destiny made him your soulmate.

Sometimes, you can’t even differentiate if you’re feeling bad or if he is the one feeling bad. Your bodies are connected in a way that even biology can’t explain. But, considering that you never met - or so do you think.- it's kind of weird. Having a soulmate wasn’t rare, half of the population has it. You’re meant to find each other and be together. You walk back to your barricade, thinking about it. Maybe he’s one of the Corps soldiers. Someone who might be very resistant to pain. Someone strong and...

“Oi, have you seen Hange?” Levi asks. He’s in front of you, and he has some books in his hands. It seems like he’s helping Hange as well. You look behind you, where Hange was a minute earlier. They're gone.

"They were here a couple of seconds aho, but I guess they moved..." You saw Levi was looking behind him, to a table full of books. You guessed that all those heavy books were the ones Levi and Hange were moving. You take some of them as well. "It's not necessary..." he says, but you're taking four books now. Walking again towards him, you look around, searching Hange and Moblit.

"Didn't they told you were they are moving the books?" Levi sighed before clicking his tongue.

"That four eyes... They didn't say anything about it because I told them to leave the war room free for new reunions, so they moved all theyr shit." he says. The books are heavy and he has been holding them for a time now, so he's kinda edgy. He walks towards a tent in the sand, near the one where the Special OPs squad sleep. Connie was out of the tent, looking at the sea. Behind him, Sasha was taking care of a bouquet of white roses.

Pain hitted you like a train, literally. Zeke's body was so tired that the train hitted his titan's legs, making him and you feel the pain. You fell, crying of the high level of dolor. Levi left the books near you, on the floor, and Sasha and Connie walked fast toward you. You were there, feeling like your legs got crushed. Levi took your boots out easily, and, looking at you for consent, raised your pants to the knee. Your legs where perfect, as always. You couldn't stop crying. Even when Levi, a total hater of affection and physical contact, started to massage them carefully. Sasha took some cold water from the sea on a jar, and put the cold metal jar on your muscles, trying to ease the pain. Connie gave you potable water.

In Marley, Zeke was also feeling a lot of pain. His legs were totally crushed and smashed because of the fucking train. He knows that his human form will repair his muscles once he's out of the titan, so that's why, searching Porco's company, he leaves the titan's body. Porco covers him while his intern muscles get easily cured. In Paradis, your legs start to feel a bit better, and you're able to feel something more than pain on them. Something like the smooth touch of the Captain. Levi keeps massaging them, doing little circles and looking at you.

"Are you feeling better?" he asks. You nod. "What happened?"

Since everybody respects someone who has a soulmate, Levi is not different to the rest. Once he knows that you have a soulmate, you'll have 0 opportunities with him. Even knowing that he probably doesn't feel the same for you, having that little unknow will play at your favor. If he does feel something, you'll just ignore all the pain your soulmate is giving you. After all, you two are people with different lives and nothing more than a stupid bond between you. You have no affection towards him because you don't know who he is, to begin with. And, also. maybe the feelings you have developed for the Captain doesn’t let you think about any other person.

At least from now.

“Yes, yes. Thanks, Captain.” he shakes his head, as if he was saying that you shouldn’t thank him.

“Your pain has been increasing lately, doesn’t it?” he asks, in a whisper. It’s normal for him to care about you, after all you’re one of his soldiers. You move your legs. They just feel heavy, but the pain has been gone. “You should rest here a bit. I’ll call Connie . He’ll make you company while the meal isn’t ready.”

Levi lefts the tent quick. You have been here stuck for months now, after you killed all the titans left in the island. You know there’s a bigger enemy than the colossus humans that killed a lot of your comrades and friends. You remember once the pain was so bad, like if someone had cut your arms and legs and then just put a thunderspear on your abdomen. And it exploded. You were conscious of every single organ of your body. You were unable to walk for a week. Your soulmate was really fast healing, so you have the belief that he is a titan. No doubt.

Ha, you’re bonded with a titan shifter. What if that one is the one that Levi promised to kill?

You shake your head when Connie enters.

“Oh, wow, you look better!” he says. You smile at him and he sits near to you. Connie is basically your best friend here, and he was always trying to make you feel better.

“Yes, I’m feeling way better.” you answer. Connie gives you a glass of water, “Thanks.”

“Your soulmate must be having fun, doesn’t he?” Connie and Hange were the only ones you told that you’ve probably a soulmate, but lately, the magnitude of the pain that man has to resist was a really obvious indicator of your bond. Probably, the Captain also knows it just because of intuition.

“He definitely is. for sure.” You say, after drinking all the glass. Connie puts it on a near table. You let out a sigh. “Y/N, listen, maybe you should tell the Captain. Like, he’s the Captain of our squad. What if your soulmate looses an arm and you fell in the middle of a battle?” But you don’t want to leave the Corps. They are your family, your most treasured ones.

“But I don’t want to leave...” you whisper. Connie sighs and looks at the front, through the window.

“You don’t have to leave. Just work here, as a healer, or...”

“I want to fight. With you all. I don’t want to make Levi lose another soldier. We’re just seven on his squad. He needs all the people capable to follow his pace.” It was true. Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie, Sasha and you, with Levi, are the most capable soldiers of the army. That’s why all of you are in the Special Ops squad.

Later, Jean brought you the dinner. It took you a bit to start to train again, and time passed. Eren announced the rumbling, and Levi told you all the plans for the mission.

"Just execute the plan. We just have to stop the rumbling, even if that means killing Eren." The plan made all your comrades uncomfortable. Specially the ones that suffered with him all this time, those who saw him grow and express his ideals. That’s what you were thinking when, time later, you’re fighting hand to hand with the squad. Titans are everywhere and you only can see blood and hear screams. Jean is near Pieck and there’s a weird sensation growing up in your chest. Like if you knew what was about to happen to your soulmate. Levi was behind you. A big stalactite can be seen, at a figure seems to be on top of it. A blonde boy you met, knowing that he was a shifter. You can see him from Falco's titan's back.

Maybe he is your soulmate?

If someone kills him and your supposition is true, that means you’ll be in problems.

Levi looks at him, his gaze full of anger. He goes near him, using the ODMS and, taking out his blades, before you could react, he decapitates him.

You felt like your soul was about to leave your body, how your head hurts so much that it seems like it was about to fell off your shoulders. You can’t breath and your lungs seem to stop working. Levi comes back and found you screaming of pain.

“y/n!” he yelled. Taking you with him, he puts you again on Falco’s titan back. You search his eyes, lying down on the soft back of the titan.

“He... was m-my... soulmate.” Levi opened his eyes with horror.

“I’m so sorry, I... I didn’t know that.” he says.

“I didn’t either.” You say, but your voice was breaking because of the pain screams. You hold your head, like if you wanted to avoid it from getting parted away from your body. It hurts so much.

Levi holds your head softly. Your neck feels really bad, but it is starting to heal slowly.

“Sorry.” he whispers. “I didn’t want to hurt you in any way.” It was okay. No one knew that Zeke, the man that he promised to kill, was your soulmate. So it was not his fault. Your face is full of tears, but you show him a little smile.

“It’s okay. After all, we weren't mean to be together.”

“I’m sure you’ll find a better man.” he says, while Falco keeps flying.

I hope so, you think, while his warm hands caress your hair, trying to make all that pain disappear.

JUDGEMENT

“Do you think they were...kind?” he asks. “In the end?”

And though it pains him to speak, Qui-Gon answers honestly.

“No,” he says. “I do not think they were.”

At this, Obi-Wan nods. The judiciary benches have long since emptied, the crowds roused by a hard judgement, and a swiftly executed sentence. There had been jeering, mockery, and cruel laughter, and Obi-Wan had sat silently by Qui-Gon’s side, wrapped utterly in his dark travelling cloak. There had been no gaze to catch, the somber pools of his eyes concealed by the drape of his hood. Neither had there been a hand to hold, their delicate articulations twisted so deep within the folds of coarse fabric as to be invisible to Qui-Gon’s searching grasp.

Instead, he’d remained stoic, hardly breathing as the magistrate had condemned a young woman to death.

And it had been Obi-Wan’s word which brought her there.

“I do not think that I should be a Jedi.”

The phrase is whispered, whistled through the clenched teeth, and cracked lips of Qui-Gon’s charge. It is quiet, as though he cannot bear the thought of his pronouncement, but it is also clear, and earnestly meant.

On this, Qui-Gon is not so certain as his padawan, but it is not his place to refute him. Only Obi-Wan can do that. Qui-Gon Jinn is a Master, and it is his job to teach.

So he swallows, shifts his weight, and allows the contours of his body to fall into something more relaxed, hoping to coax Obi-Wan along with him. But Obi-Wan does not relent. So Qui-Gon seeks to educate him.

“And why do you think that?”

The boy turns to him abruptly, offended by the possibility that Qui-Gon cannot see how clearly he has transgressed, and how unworthy it must make him.

“Is it not obvious, Master?” he demands, some fire warming his benumbed lips. “I have murdered her.”

“It is not you who has shaved her head, or torn her limb from limb. It is not you who cried for blood. You did not sentence her. You did not bring her here. You did not sanction or commit her crimes.”

“But I told you who she was.”

“Ah,” says Qui-Gon, comprehension beating a percussive note from his lips. He leans forward, elbows braced upon his thighs, his hair trailing over his knees as he sits in deep thought, puzzling out the stars with Obi-Wan. “Then do you suggest it is my fault for alerting the authorities? Or for failing to negotiate a plea, or mitigate her sentence?”

“No!” cries Obi-Wan. The edge of his hood is too slow to keep pace with the padawan’s thoughts, and slips over his ear to catch and expose his pale face to Qui-Gon’s contemplation. “You tried,” he insists. “Even when it made them angry, even when they threatened to arrest you with her - you still tried...I only tattled.”

“Oh, Obi-Wan,” the master sighs. “Can you not see how cruelly you accuse yourself?”

“She came to me for help,” Obi-Wan protests. “And I killed her for it.”

“No,” says Qui-Gon, firm in this where moments before he has been lax. But then, it had been an exercise, and he had meant for Obi-Wan to reason his way into illumination. Instead, he sinks deeper into self-recrimination, and despair, both of which are far less becoming of a Jedi than an optimistic spirit and faith in his elders. This cannot continue. “You are a child, Obi-Wan,” he says.

“I’m thirteen!”

“And I have lived more than three of your lifetimes, my padawan. Grant me the benefit of the doubt when it comes to accumulated wisdom, both as your teacher, and your elder.”

Obi-Wan’s jaw snaps shut, his eyes falling low. A narrow hand has emerged to pick at a loose thread, worrying the small flaw into a larger fraying edge.

“Yes, Master Qui-Gon,” he mumbles.

“You are a child, and this woman came to you because she knew you would act as such. She wanted sympathy. She wanted malleability. She wanted a defender who could neither judge nor question her.”

“She used me.”

“We are Jedi, Master Kenobi,” he says. “We come to be used. We arrive with every intent to serve. We are here to help in any way we can, as best we can. You helped her.”

Obi-Wan says nothing, unconvinced, but a drop of water, illumined by the sun slipping slowly beyond the horizon, falls hot and shining upon the sea of cloth pooled in Obi-Wan’s lap. It disappears in almost the same instant, only to be chased by another, and another.

“None of that,” sighs Qui-Gon. He is a proud man, he knows, and gruff besides, but he is no stoic, not like the stubborn boy beside him. And he is proud of him. So he does what Obi-Wan so vehemently chastises himself for now: he shows him kindness. He reaches out and pulls his padawan close, until Obi-Wan’s head is tucked beneath his chin, until his cold hands slide beneath the folds of Qui-Gon’s own cloak to feel the heat of him beneath, until his upset is soothed and muffled by the low susurrations of Qui-Gon’s voice, vibrating like tectonics shifting in his chest. “It will be alright.”

“It still feels wrong,” cries Obi-Wan, his anguish drowning in his throat. “It still feels unfair. It still hurts.”

“It will always hurt, young one,” Qui-Gon says.

At this, Obi-Wan’s upset turns briefly to rage, flickering impotently against the sea before being drowned again by sorrow. “Well, I wish it didn’t,” he says.

“Don’t say that,” Qui-Gon chides. “It must hurt. It is right that it hurts. You must know it hurts me too, but that is how I know I am alive - I can tell because of the pain. I would never wish something as awful as apathy on you.”

“Well, I do wish it,” Obi-Wan says, tearful and insistent. “I wish I didn’t care. I wish I was numb. I wish I was ice.”

“Do you think that would help?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then I shall tell you, dear Obi-Wan,” says Qui-Gon, his mouth close to his padawan’s ear. “It would not. Ice melts, after all. It does no good to turn away, and leave others to their strife.”

“And yet, everyone here did!” the boy cries. He pulls away to stare Qui-Gon square in the face, his little visage torn and scarred with salt-stained grief. “They didn’t care that she was to be killed.”

“They’ve been hurt, as well,” he replies. “They are also mourning.”

Obi-Wan shakes his head. “No,” he says, a flat denial. “They liked it. They were happy.”

“And can those things not grow from anger, grief, or fear? Can not the Dark rejoice in the sufferings of any heart?”

Obi-Wan frowns. His tears abate, and he takes a deep, gasping breath before laying his head down on Qui-Gon’s broad shoulder.

“Then perhaps one must not simply be cold,” the child suggests. “Perhaps it would be better to be made entirely of stone, so that nothing at all can touch you.”

“Oh, my padawan,” Qui-Gon sighs. He holds his burden close, and runs his fingers through the copper strands of tangled hair pressed against his breast. “No heart is made of stone. They are fragile, heavy things, and that is why we must be so careful with them.”
