The thing about Dark Jason Grace is that he would never have supported Luke.
Jason's whole beef is with the God's.
In particular his father.
He owns that shit, he does not drag or bring anyone else into it.
It's why I say he gets Krios's throne.
Because no matter when or why, Jason makes it to his camp and he fights Krios.
He destroys him and shatters his throne.
That than reforms around him.
Jason may hate he's nothing but a nameless soilder to the God's, despises them for everything they've done to him.
But also what they are doing to the rest.
And he would never let his people down.
His legion recognise him.
The 5th cohort, in tears salute him.
Preator or not.
Traitor or not.
He is their leader.
And they will follow him to the ends of the earth.
And when he stands by Reyna he stands as her equal.
Even telling her he won't take this battle from her and she says don't be ridiculous, this is ours to fight.
Jason is Roman.
He is family.
And family don't leave anyone behind.
He's an enemy of Olympus and yet even some of them smile when they see him.
Hera can't go against her husband but theirs a fondness in his eyes when she lays eyes on him.
Minor deities respect him and he does in turn.
Jason bows before them, drops to his knees and uses their full titles.
Not getting up unless they allow him too.
He shows them respect they have not had for centuries.
He builds shrines and leaves offerings and only asks for safe passage through their domains.
He has won their favour time and time again and he does not exploit that.
At the same time Jason doesn't bow before his father.
He has never tried to get other demigods to join him.
He knows his very existence is a middle finger to his father.
He wears the scars of his defiance, the chains around his wrists and is branded a traitor for all to see.
Jason wouldn't wish that on anyone.
What Luke did joining Kronos infuriated Jason to end.
Athena asks why he didn't join him.
To that Jason snorts saying why would he stand against someone who only wishes to control him.
He doesn't trust the God's, why would he trust a titan?
Especially one who's lost to them.
Jsdon firmly declares that had he found him first he would have gut the son of Hermes like a fish.
Hermes says Luke died a hero and Jason just laughs.
"And that makes a life time of suffering all worth it doesn't it? His mother's sat around baking cookies, wandering when will her son come home but good for him."
"... How do you..."
"... Because that's what my mother was doing, cept the baking cookies was drinking booze."
"I'm sorry I had no idea... How is she?"
"Dead, but she's in the fields... Such a fair and righteous judgement for all the suffering in her life. Maybe we should kill Lukes mother so they can bake cookies in hell together." He says deadpanned, looking at the speechless Hermes in disgust.
"But sure no your serial killer creeper kid dies and I'm supposed to give a shit, sure."
That's not to say Jason doesn't feel sympathy for those who joined Luke.
He prayed on the lost, the weary, the vulnerable and promised them a paradise he was never going to deliver.
And so Jason sends an offering to Nemises in condolences for the loss of her son.
And the rest of the fallen, the unclaimed.
Jason admits Luke had a point in that but following Kronos was nothing short of foolish.
Jason smiles sadly at Percy's wish, he knows it won't come to fruition. He's lived too long, he's become far too jaded yo think otherwise.
But the flicker of hope burns in his eyes momentarily.

Disaster trio (Chris, Elena, Wesker) rambling ahead - just tossing my ideas for that au that will probably never get fully written, but I wanna talk about them so here ya go lmao
Elena meets them both and has a one night stand with both on separate occasions in raccoon city, pre-transition, pre-city destruction.
Wesker is the first person she asks to call her Elena because even in their drunken states, she feels safe.
Chris doesn’t find out about her transition until years later after they’re reunited over the Baker Ranch incident.
Elena knows Wesker had some dealing in creating the e-series mold she becomes infected with, because it moved like the uroboros/is infected with it in this au.
Wesker only wakes up out of his comma from RE5 shenanigans (not poping his head off like a pimple with a missile) when she touches his arm to see if he was really alive.
Mf hardly remembers anything he did though, memories are fuzzy, so Elena convinces Chris to let him move in with them to help him:
Shit is hella awkward and tense in that house, Chris ain’t a fan of it for a while and wesker really is just trying to figure out what happened - because all he remembers was the early days, STARS, leaving and working at the HCF, but not really understanding where he went wrong.
His memories do slowly come back to him if he’s touched by Elena because, spoiler alert, mold infection happened while he was unconscious ~
Which makes him generally scared of her because he doesn’t like seeing the memories. But they face them together, including her own.
Wesker would do everything he could in this au to make amends for what he did, apologizing to the surviving STARS members directly, working alongside them in his research for anti-bow stuff that became the basis for blue umbrella.
Chris slowly starts to trust him more, they have a heart to heart that ends really well.
Although they are still competitive as hell with each other - uno in this household turns into threatening lives lmao
Also means they’re hella competitive in other aspects of their situationship (wink wink)
Wesker loses his arm, walks with a cane, and has scars from the infections and burns.
Elena has her mold and Cadou infections that still run rampant in her system.
Chris has a bunch of battle scars too as well as trauma from everything he’s experienced. His experience with amnesia helps him with understanding what Wesker’s going through in this.
Rose loves her uncle Wesker and all the silly stories he tells her.
Ethan finds it odd, but honestly considering the way their lives have all gone, he’s just rolling with the punches at this point. Seeing his sister happy with both of them makes him happy because he has hardly seen her smile like she does with them in a long time.

hi i would like to know face, canvas and informal from the character design asks for madeleine and côme ty (@ do-this-for-me)
Thanks a lot for the ask!!
Face - Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?
Madeleine
Her kindness literally shows on her face. Everything about her features is soft and gentle. She has very round cheeks tinted with a constant blush. She wears her hair loose for the most part, only tiying back with a bow the first few strands that fall in her face and she's got a little bang. Soft dark brown eyes, glinting with knowledge. Her smile is the thing that people notice the most upon meeting her. She's always smiling and gosh her smile is blinding. It's not just a slight tug of her lips, it's a full-on smile that brings out her dimples and make her eyes squint a little. It would make anyone fall in love with her on the spot.
Côme
Slyness is written all over their face. They've got hazel eyes that glint with mischief, a constant grin which screams that they're up to no good. A little bit of stubble that they grow before shaving it all because it grows a little weird and they do not like it. A slim face that lets their surprisingly sharp jaw show. The thing that people always notice first is their hair. They have a a very big, very fluffy, very curly wolf cut mullet. But it's the not the mullet per say that people notice the most, but the red dye. They regularly change hair color but at the moment they've had it a bright red for over almost a year and they haven't grown tired of it yet.
Canvas - Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?
Madeleine
She has a scar on both sides of her left wrist (above and under) because she broke her arm as a kid and needed a cast, but when the doctors took it off, they cut her skin. She's also acquired quite a few scar since working with UB: the one on her neck that she got when Murphy bit her, and a few scattered all over her bodies from cuts and wounds that didn't heal properly. She has her ears pierced, but no other piercings. And she doesn't have any tattoos either. She's not one to hide her scars but she doesn't display them either. The scars are just there, sometimes they show from underneath her clothes, but she doesn't care.
Côme
They've got quite the bunch of scars from skateboarding. Most are on their legs, but they've also got a few on their elbows and arms. They've also got the ones from when they had their appendix removed as a teen. They've got a burn on their left hand from when they accidentally dropped a bit of acid on it during a lab class in uni. They also have the bite scar on thier neck from Murphy and the few unavoidable scars from working with UB. They've got their ears in multiple areas and they've also got a septum piercing. As for tattoos they also have quite a few. It's mostly tattoos that remind them of their comfort shows/characters (The pendant on Scoobs collar, Morph from treasure planet...). They also have a few science related ones (pluto, their favorite periodic element...). And more random ones that I have yet to define.
Informal - What's your OC's lazy-day look? How do they like to dress when they're winding down?
Madeleine
Maddie's wardrobe has a very cottagecore/little house on the prairie kind of vibe. Especially her lazy outfits. She adores those very flowy dresses and apron dresses and they're usually her go to outfits when she doesn't want to bother about dressing up. She'll also let her haird completely loose with no bow, or tie them in a little bun if she's planning on sewing or cooking that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Côme
Côme's wardrobe mostly consists of colorful shorts and the first t-shirt/sweater they grab, usually one with a cartoon character on them. Which honestly doesn't change that much from their everyday clothes.

Who of the kids would win in a life series?
OOOOOOOOOOO
I actually haven't thought about this, but like I'm having just all the thoughts right now
Cause they all know the ins and outs of the series, every little loophole you'd be able to abuse, so knowledge-wise they're all on the same wavelength.
Liana has the Scar-licensed Silver tongue, but considering all the other kids know her and her tricks that ability wouldn't help her for too long. She does have the long-range advantage, being the only one skilled with the bow, but that's her only combat experience. Her odds are low
Wes is physically tanky, so he can both deal a lot of damage and take a lot of hits, but he’s also extremely anxious and would probably be afraid to hurt people. He also relies on his bulk, so heavy armor and shields isn’t his priority, meaning weak spots can easily be exploited. I doubt he’d win, but he’d make it a bit, possibly top three
Gertrude is a redstoner which means she’s capable of complicated traps, she’s a good physical fighter, and she has the advantage of being a fricking werewolf. Her biggest weakness is her own intelligence, mainly when it comes to logic reasoning, and let’s be honest here, trust. She’s quite easy to fool this one. So while she could possibly win the whole thing, she could also be the first one out lol.
Johnny is the son of two curses, so you know that’s not great. I mean, those curses are broken (was Tango’s curse broken? I can’t remember lol) but it’s still a disadvantage. Johnny is thought a fire demon, and can inflict second degree burns just by biting someone, and he’s also an animal wrangler and talented with both the lasso and whip. He does have the same problem as Wes, in that he doesn’t really wanna kill people. I don’t think he has the worst odds (unless he has the canary curse), so he could possibly make it to the top three.
Jassy wins. Just, no question, she wins. She’s a ninja and expert in many forms of combat, and she’s stealthy like it’s nobody’s business. And while she does care for her friends, she’s not afraid to kill them in cold blood to win. Jassy is the winner. Congrats anime girl
Jekiv is where things get complicated, because a very important question is posed. Does he get to keep his magic or not? Because if Jek has fricking necromancy, he’s winning. Like no shot. Jassy can be as talented as she wants, she’s not fighting an army of undead. But if he doesn’t have his magic, then Jekiv’s only option is an alliance with Wes, and even then he’s on thin ice.
Novo is not getting far. He’s small, frail, with negative charm and no self preservation. The only thing he’s got going for him is his unpredictably, something that will not get him very far. If Jekiv can’t use magic, then he might be the second one out, but if not then he’s out first, no doubt.
So the most probable order would be either
Jekiv-Novo-Liana-Gertrude-Johnny-Wes-Jassy
OR
Novo-Liana-Gertrude-Johnny-Wes-Jassy-Jekiv
It is a little funny how Jek, Novo, and Liana are the children of the six winners, yet they’d be completely awful in these games lol
Also I am, heavily considering making actual traffic designs for them, like color indicators and all, so you know we’ll see if I get around to doing that

Scarred For Me
"If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."1
A young, widowed mother left her son sleeping soundly while she went to fetch water from the creek, not too far from their home. She had done this many times before and always returned to a still-sleeping child. As she returned with her bucket full of water, she found a large crowd surrounding her home which was now engulfed in flames; her son was still inside! The crowd tried to stop her from running into the burning structure, yelling: "The fire is too great! You'll die too." Escaping their hands, she entered the inferno that was once her home, wrapped her son in a blanket, and held him tightly against her breast. While the child emerged completely untouched by the fire, his young mother had suffered severe burns that covered her face and body. She survived with scars that left her unrecognizable.
Under the guidance of his mother, the child completed his studies and went on to successfully graduate university at the top of his class. Upon being appointed minister, he organized a large party and invited his friends and the important dignitaries of the city. His mother, who had not received an invitation, arrived at her son's home wanting to see and congratulate him. She was forcefully stopped at the gate by security guards who forbade her entrance. Hearing the commotion, the son turned to see his disfigured mother begging to be let in. He quickly went over to the scene and tenderly said to her, "Please, Mom, I would be ashamed to have you appear before my friends. We can have a meeting later." He quietly told the guards to dismiss her and he returned to his party2.
In a mirrored image, Jesus also sacrificed himself. His body was brutally beaten and scarred. He willingly went to the cross, suffered shame, and sacrificed His life for you and me. But, too many of us, His children, are ashamed to even speak His name. The thought of allowing people to know that we are Christians embarrasses us and leads us to deny the One who shed His blood so that we might live a full and abundant life. Today is known as Good Friday. The day we remember that awful moment when our Good Lord was crucified. There doesn't seem to be anything "good" about it! Except that it was because of His Goodness and Love for all mankind that He died. What place does He have in your life today? Are you ashamed of His scars? Are you happy to introduce Him as the Master and Savior of your life?
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Lord …. "At the Cross I surrender my life! I'm in awe of you!…Where your Love ran red, and my sin washed white, I owe all to you, Jesus! Here, my hope is found! Here, on Holy Ground; Here, I bow down…. Here, Arms open wide; Here, You saved my life…."3 Thank you, Jesus! Amen.
Mark 8:38 (NIV).

Hello again, I'm the anon from before... I have a request, if you can write it... it would be male Eivor x f!reader... Eivor meets a lady and has to fulfill some tasks to get an alliance for the Raven Clan, but he ends up falling in love with her and things get hot between them... (sorry my first language is not english lol) thanks and xx 😘💚
“That is my offer.” You laid it out before him, standing over the table that showed where the Raven Clan had established their alliances in England thus far. They had been making good progress.
You had come to Ravensthorpe on behalf of your people in a town just a 15 minute ride by horse away. You were agriculturalists which meant you were rarely hungry but also quite defenceless and a target to those without food. You had come here alone considering that your town’s people were not too fond of these norse and danish settlers but their pride and prejudice would be the death of them. The previous day, bandits had stolen five cattle and set a silo on fire in retaliation to the farmer trying to stop them. He had been burnt to a crisp trying to preserve the grain.
“Five percent of your harvest goes to my town’s people…” The norseman before you began, “And a system of trade established between us.”
“In exchange for your protection, yes. My people are not fighters, Eivor.” You paused to let out a sigh, rolling your eyes, “In fact, they’re quite stupid too when it comes to the wider picture, I’ve had to come alone because they’re thick-headed enough to want bandits to pillage us more than they want protection from your people.”
“And you don’t harbour this same disdain for my people?” He raised a brow, crossing his arms, looking rather amused.
“You’ve never wronged me but bandits have. Sure, I’ve heard tales of monasteries being raided and burned but…” You scrunched your nose distastefully, “When famine strikes and all those monks sit around their feasts in silence, what do they give us? Prayers. They give us empty words and false hope instead of bread to feed our starving families with. I say let them burn and if you take their gold when you do it, it matters not to me.”
“You seem like a cold woman.” He spoke, a tone of amusement in his voice.
“I’m logical, not cold.” You corrected, leaning against the table.
“What would you have us do to secure this alliance, if your people do not like us?” The woman with fishtailed brown hair, who had earlier introduced herself as Randvi, asked.
“Take out the bandits, make them realise how foolish they are being. We have not yet lost enough to be at risk when winter comes, regarding food stores, but gifts will help too.”
“Are you a sort of leader in your town?” She asked, pacing around the table a little.
“No, just the one with a bit of common sense.” You shrugged, “I don’t like the leadership role - I’ve never liked the attention - but it’s frustrating to see people fail because they’re…” You furrowed your brows, trying to contain your anger and direct it into a sentence, “so stupid, you know? So I guess that I’m only doing this because I think everyone else is going about it wrong.”
“Now that,” Eivor laughed, “I can understand. You may call on my people whenever you are in need of defending, we will come and we will help repair any damages from conflict.” You bowed your head in thanks, glancing up to him one more time.
You had thought it when you first laid eyes on him after asking for an audience with the Raven Clan’s jarl. He had long blond hair that was held away from his face with various braids that had little metal cuffs around some of them. His eyes were a brilliant blue and he had an angular face with a jaw covered in a well-kept beard. A scar ran from his cheekbone down to the corner of his mouth and he had a raven tattooed across his right temple, dipping back towards the shaven part of his head. Your eyes followed that tattoo to the large scar at his neck. You wondered what story it had to tell, you were sure that he was full of stories that would mesmerise a girl from a small farming town like yourself.
“Thank you, Eivor. I hope that my people will take kindly to your generosity.” And with that, you excused yourself from Ravensthorpe’s longhouse, getting back on your horse to head home.
When you returned, your mother had demanded where you had been, which led to your father yelling at you for what you had done, which led to you being put before the master of the town who did very little other than sit on his arse all day and ask how the harvests were coming along. You were already in his bad books after refusing a marriage that he had wanted arranged between you and his second son. It had taken a lot to deter him and so you weren’t particularly thrilled to be in his home once more.
However, you stood your ground. You preferred to be right than to be liked and you knew that, with a little patience, everyone would come to see the sense behind your decision.
“You trade away five percent of all our harvest to these…. Invaders?!” He exclaimed.
“I’ve watched the harvests over the years, it has been long since famine has struck and even with paying the five percent, it means we are far less likely to lose any stocks if we are defended and we also have to opportunity to trade with the Raven Clan who are much more connected across the lands than we are.”
“You deem yourself more fit to make these decisions for the town than I, woman?” He spat the last word and you knew that it had been in an attempt to degrade you.
“Perhaps we need a woman making these decisions, that way she will be thinking with a brain and not a cock. I’ve watched you sit back and do nothing-!” You shrugged off the grip of your mother’s hand on your upper arm who was trying to stop you from offending the master, “When we have been attacked! Our cattle have been stolen, slaughtered, our silos have been burned to the ground and we have had bandits stealing our crops in the night for weeks. What have you done about it?” You gestured around, “Sat on your arse and demanded that we fix our own messes. Well, I hate to break it to you, master,” The word dribbled from your mouth like venom, “but your position defines these problems as your own before they belong to anyone else.” You clenched your fists, “We will see who is the more capable leader when the bandits strike again.” And, not waiting for a dismissal, you stormed out of the hall.
***
As they usually did, the bandits had struck in the cover of night just two days after your meeting with Eivor and your clash with the master. Wasting no time, you got on a horse and rode off towards Ravensthorpe, hoping everything could be sorted in time. You had been stopped by patrolling guards at the town’s border and hurriedly explained the situation to them. In no time, warriors and shield maidens were shaken awake to come to your aid and you led them all back to your humble little town, gasping at the sight.
Two thatched roofs of homes were on fire and a few bodies were laid around. This was terrible; it wasn’t a raid but a full-blown attack. As soon as you dismounted your horse, a set of hands landed on your shoulder and opposite upper arm, you jumped at the contact and turned to find Eivor.
“Get to safety, find your family if you can.” There was concern in your eyes and you nodded your head before running as fast as your legs could take you to your home, finding your mother, father and infant brother inside.
“Barricade the door!” You exclaimed, pushing the dining room table onto its side. Your father joined you to push it against the front door and your mother was desperately trying to shush your brother. Nothing could be done about barricading the windows for now so, instead, you drew the curtains while your father blew out all the candles.
You waited in the dark, longing to peer out of the window to see what was going on but knowing that it would only put you in danger. You trusted your decision in establishing this alliance and you knew that your people had a much better chance of surviving this way.
But something wasn’t right. There was something wrong. The bandits had never been so bold before, why would they strike like this so shortly after an alliance had been established? At the rate the crop fields were burning, the town’s people would have to buy whatever they could afford from the nearest town that the master had-
“It’s all planned!” You exclaimed, leaping to your feet and peering out of a window to look towards the master’s house.
“What do you mean?” Your father spoke in a quieter tone, trying to urge you to be quieter.
“The master’s eldest son, he’s married to a Lady from Oxenefordscire.” You breathed out, “A few winters ago, after the last famine, we were bled dry buying food from them just to live. The master got all the best cuts and was rewarded in gold for the… boost that we provided to their economy. The selfish bastard! This is all about money to him! I’d be willing to bet he’s working with the bandits!” You pulled the table from the door enough to slide out of it, grabbing a nearby pail. “We have to save the crops now or else he’ll succeed and we’ll be put into that same position.”
You and your father had had disagreements about your ways in the past, but looking around at the flames and hearing the sounds of battle, noting how the norse fighters were saving your town, he nodded his head and your mother was barricaded back into the house as the two of you ran off towards the fields, calling for help along the way. You looked to the fields and dropped the pail for a scythe, getting as close to the scorching flames as you could and beginning to crop them in fluid motions that you had spent your life learning, stopping the fire from spreading any more.
“You fools! Fight back!” You heard the master’s voice and you glanced over to where the bandits were now retreating. You were right. He was paying them to push your people to the brink of starvation so that the nearest county would reward him for it in gold. You continued cropping, two men and a woman having joined you by now while others had come to douse the flames. You didn;t have much time to take in your surroundings in the rush, but you were later informed of how Eivor’s people had fought bravely and helped to put out the fires started in homes. Your family came out unscathed too, minus you and your father being drenched in sweat from the heat of the fires you had tried to protect your produce from.
Most of the town were up all night and beyond the sunrise to repair the damages while the master holed himself up in his home, people now standing guard at each exit so that he couldn’t escape without facing the consequences of what he had done.
You managed to catch up with Eivor as he was hefting a scorched wooden beam over his shoulder. You paused to take in the sight: he looked so powerful, effortlessly lifting such a heavy thing and leading the people around him to clear up the damage so that repairs could be made.
“Eivor!” You called after him once he had set the damaged beam aside, he turned around to meet you, hair falling past his shoulder as he did and he gave you a sympathetic smile.
“I am sorry for your losses.” He spoke up in that accent of his that only seemed to make you swoon now.
“There would have been many more if not for your help.” You glanced around to see your own town’s people and the Raven Clan working together. “And I’m glad to see that it has dispelled any harsh feelings that my people harboured against yours. I hope that we can build upon a strong foundation after this night.”
“As do I.” He rested his hand on your shoulder to convey his sincerity and you took that hand in your own, wrapping both of yours around it.
“If it isn’t too much to ask, I would like for you, or one of your people if you haven’t the time, to teach me how to fight. I felt… defenceless in my home, which is why I went out to save the crops, why I went to Ravensthorpe to establish this alliance in the first place, I hate sitting back and doing nothing.” He nodded his head, a sincere smile playing at his lips.
“You were brave to do what you did, I saw you. You were also clever enough to see that your town’s master,” The word was spoken with utmost disdain as he looked towards said man’s home, “was making your people suffer for his own gain. Once you have taken account of all losses and damages, I will see what I can do about teaching you how to fight. Is that alright?”
“That’s perfect, Eivor, thank you.” You gave his hand a slight squeeze before excusing yourself to go help take down the blackened crops in the field.
***
Your town had handled the situation as follows: count the dead, bury them, calculate the losses of produce, preserve what you could, hold trial against the master, hang him.
There was talk of an election to take place soon and your father was considering running, so long as he could have you to advise him. You had since moved out and had now settled in a cosy little home on the outskirts of Ravensthorpe. Eivor had been teaching you how to fight with an axe and shield and you were taking to it naturally. You enjoyed the mix of English and Norse culture that could be found in the hamlet and had even taken to Valka’s guidance on what offerings to leave to which gods. You donned more Norse-looking attire in the winter when it grew cold as it was more practical for such temperatures and reverted back to your English tunics when the heat rose again in summertime.
Oh, and you had been right about Eivor being full of stories that would mesmerise you. He laid in your bed now, on his back with your head resting on his chest, tracing over the lines of his tattoos as he stroked your hair with one hand and gesticulated alongside his story with the other.
“I’d love to see Norway…” You mumbled against his skin, “It sounds beautiful… I don’t know how I’d fare against the cold, though.” The two of you laughed a little at this.
“Perhaps similarly to how I handle the summers here.” You laugh even harder.
“Being pushed to the brink of death by the weather then?” He jostled you a little, making you lean up on one of your forearms to smile at him, adoring seeing him so happy in moments like these. It’s true though, he had told you all about how horrid he found those few weeks of English summertime: it was different to other lands he had been to, he explained, it was so humid that it felt hotter than it really was and he had fallen victim to heatstroke a few times.
“You Norse folk come over here, do the devil’s work and steal the lord’s gold,” He rolled your eyes at your theatrical tone, knowing the two of you both found this narrative utterly ridiculous, “and we have nothing to defend ourselves with against you except for the few sodding weeks of summer we get on an annual calendar that’s otherwise utterly miserable. The moment summer’s over, what do we get? Rain, wind, wind, rain, a sprinkle of snow and some more rain.” He pulled you back down onto him and kissed the top of your head.
“I think you’d do fine enough in Norway as long as you’re wrapped up warm enough…” His tone dipped to become deeper as his lips trailed down from your temple to the side of your neck, turning you over slowly with his hands pressing your hips down into the furs beneath you, “And if all those layers don’t work…” A nip at your collarbone which made you gasp. “I can think of some other ways to warm you…” You held back a moan as his lips trailed down to your breasts, hands roaming up and down your sides.
“And what would that entail?” You shuddered in anticipation.
“Allow me to show you…”

Ever since the day your mother taught you how to read, you’ve had your nose buried in a book. Losing yourself in different worlds, swooning over fictional princes, and fantasizing for a love story ripped out of fairytale itself with such burning, passionate romance – you’d been through it all, dreamt of it all. And yet, you struggled to stop yourself from tugging at your dress.
The tight corset hadn’t even been the main focus of your worries, and neither was the heavy rivière resting on your collarbones.
“Would you stop fidgeting?” Beside you, your mother pursed her lips, fingers decorated with jewels stopping in their movements of fanning herself. The temperature hadn’t been particularly high inside the limousine that evening. You supposed it was the mere sight of you tugging and gulping audibly every now and then, gloved hands running over the hems of your collar.
You ducked your head down. “Sorry, Mother. I can’t help it.”
“Dear, your anxiety is written all over your face,” she sighed, turning your face to her as she cupped your cheeks. Smiling tenderly like a mother always did, your heart felt soothed even by the slightest bit. You wished she could keep holding you like this – like you were a fragile flower she was afraid of breaking; a fragile flower that needed more care handled than most. Tonight, however, you felt a hundred years older. Like you’d accidentally clicked on fast forward and got launched to the future. A future that seemed so unclear yet so...perfect. So right.
“How would the Prince fancy you if you’re sweating bullets like that? It’s not a good look for a marquess’ daughter.”
At the mention of the Crown Prince, your heart sank again. “My apologies, Mother. I’m just rather nervous. It’s the Crown Prince we’re talking about here.”
“He is quite the looker, isn’t he?” she giggled behind her fan, “Strong and handsome, as well.”
“My ladies. You are not fantasizing over the Crown Prince in my presence, are you?”
Crossing her leg over the other, your mother leaned forwards, elbows on her knees as she winked at your father. The marquess had his torso half twisted from the passenger seat, glaring playfully at your mother’s unabashed features. “It is of no seriousness, My Lord. I’m simply easing your daughter’s nerves.”
Your father sighed in worry. “What’s got you so worked up, child? You are beautiful. The Prince would be blind to not notice you.”
Each fibre in your body screamed in desperation for your father to be right. Tonight was not just any other night – the entire Kingdom, including noblewomen, foreign royals, and unwed daughters from honourable families had been invited to the Zen’in Castle for one purpose only: to find his Crown Prince a suitable wife, one that would be fit to be the next Queen as well. As the daughter of the marquess, you’d naturally received the invitation. It felt just like yesterday when the mail arrived and you’d cheered so much in joy the chickens went flying out of their coops, your horses galloping and whinnying at surprise, and now you here – minutes away from the palace where you were soon to be deemed worthy or unworthy to be beside His Highness.
With a shaky smile, you dug your nails into your thighs. “Well, we’ve only met once, Father. I doubt the Prince would remember me.”
“Just smile, darling. You will do great.”
Tumblr media
To no one’s surprise, the Zen’in Castle brimmed with people and esteemed guests. Men and women danced with one another as muted chatters and chuckles blended in with the grand royal orchestra, everyone dressed to the nines and making you feel completely out of place.
The moment you’d been welcomed by the knights and led to the palace doors, your dress began to feel tighter than usual, your ribs clenching uncomfortably from the pressure. Your hands had not stopped trembling either, not even when you hid it behind your back and nodded at the people passing by. There were governor-generals, dukes, earls, professors and royal advisors and even families of the royal family’s inner circle of knights. Everyone looked like they belonged here. Chatting amongst one another over the finest of wines or discussing conspiracies on where the Kingdom of Zen’in would be in the next sixty years of the future King’s reign, no one here seemed to be out of place.
Everyone except you.
A warm hand was suddenly placed on the small of your back, making you gasp. Your mother’s smile was nothing short of warm as she held you close to her one last time, leaving a kiss on your forehead. You didn’t even realize how much you shook until she clasped her hands with yours. “Calm down, dear,” she reminded, “You’ll be on your own now. This is where we leave you since we’re not supposed to mingle with potential princesses.”
“Mother!” Your eyes widened in embarrassment. Looking around frantically, you bit your lip in fear someone must’ve heard.
Of course, while it would be no surprise most guests – if not all – hoped that their daughter would be the Crown Prince’s chosen fiancée, it still felt wrong to boldly assume such when you could barely keep up with the events of tonight.
However, your mother merely laughed. “I am proud of you, dear. Never forget that. It doesn’t matter whether you are chosen or not. We’re only here for formality and respect to the King and Queen’s demands.”
“You say that as if the Crown Prince really would not bother with me.”
“We didn’t mean that,” your father cut in, a flute of champagne already nested between his calloused fingers. Ever since you arrived, he’d been snatched away by fellow earls and barons, disappearing into the crowd for a ‘hearty conversation over one’s lands.’ You knew better than that, though. That statement always translated to which leader got to have more chances to wine and dine with the King, to which your family was ridiculously reminded of that you’d been stationed to the most faraway land where even hearing news from the royal papers was but a privilege.
“Just be yourself, alright? And enjoy the party. It’s about time you met with girls your own age and made some friends.”
“I – Father, wait!”
A slender young woman slithered to your side out of nowhere, her golden brown eyes following the silhouettes of your parents. It wasn’t long before they completely disappeared. Left alone with the stunning woman that was – for some reason – dressed in a plain black curve hugging dress too modest for tonight’s appropriateness, you took three steps away in caution. “You must be from way up North,” she noted, her head to the tipped to the side. “I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.”
God, was she beautiful. Long, thick eyelashes and short hair chopped in messy yet elegant curves, you struggled to hold her gaze. “Oh, yes, I come from the Terratian Borders. My family is stationed there under His Majesty’s orders.”
She hummed to herself. “The Terratian Borders are mostly forests and fields, no? The last time my family and I visited there, I came across the loveliest dandelions I’ve ever laid eyes on. Shame they died on the way back,” offering her hand – again, bare and empty with decorations yet still littered with faint scars and cuts – she beamed at you. “I’m Mai, by the way. Mai Zen’in.”
Zen’in?
Hands cupping your mouth, you bowed deep until your back ached. “Lady Mai!” you shut your eyes closed, unable to live with the shame. Mai Zen’in; one of the iconic twin pair from the extended Zen’in royal family, both a fashion icon and a legend for being a rumoured female knight. To have her in your presence was an honour. “My apologies for not recognizing you any sooner, Lady Mai!”
“Stand up, I’m not a royal,” she sniggered, “We’re just relatives of the actual monarch, but don’t let the family name fool you. The Crown Prince barely even acknowledges us being of the same blood.”
Albeit hesitant, you followed her gestures of making you stand up. You straightened your back and cleared your throat, fighting the urge to go haywire the moment his name was brought into the conversation. Not only would you be seeing Prince Naoya again in real life for the first time in years, but you’d also made acquaintances with his distant niece. However, his name was spoken with malice.
Frowning, you faced Lady Mai in all seriousness. “Prince Naoya? Why so?” Lady Mai looked at you like you’d grown two heads.
“He’s an ass, that’s why.”
“I-I don’t think he is,” you defended, “The Prince has been nothing but kind to me.”
“I didn’t know he was capable of kindness,” she muttered more so under her breath, low enough you were unsure whether you were supposed to hear it in the first place. Lady Mai then shook her head to herself before stealing a flute from a waiter passing by. Chucking it your way, her face turned dark and grim. “Take it as free advice: stay as far away from his as possible. The Crown Prince is nothing but good news.”
“Is it because he has lots of lovers?” you inquired with a small voice, “Uhm – well – It was an assumption. With a title and handsomeness like that, it would make sense everyone would want to be the Crown Prince’s lover.”
Lady Mai’s lip curled upwards. “Prince Naoya won’t bother with lovers. He is too occupied for that.”
“So I’ve heard.”
“Heard from whom?”
“The Royal Declaration from His Majesty himself,” you said, “Was it not the purpose of this ball? To find worthy candidates to be the Crown Prince’s betrothed? His coronation is coming soon.”
“Right. I forgot today was technically a bridal market,” she scratched the edge of her brow, falling silent for a moment. Her eyes scanned the lively crowd for a brief moment – watching with you as everyone laughed and danced to their heart’s content – the grand final event of the routine personal dance with the Crown Prince himself slowly approaching to reality. “You are joining in the festivities, are you not? Later, when he arrives, he shall meet you.”
“I am obligated to as a noble bachelorette, though I doubt His Highness would even look my way. There are far richer noblewomen here and even daughters of duke that would be perfect as his wife. ”
“You may have a point for that,” she hummed to herself, unaware that her agreement to the Crown Prince not paying attention to you left a sting both in your ego and heart. Not that it lasted long, for Lady Mai was already tugged on the arm by another equally fiercely beautiful woman – her older twin, Maki Zen’in. Soon to be governon-general of the Kingdom.
Lady Mai smiled in apology. “I need to go now since I’m not a part of this event. But hey, if ever I come around to visit the Borders again, perhaps you could entertain me?”
“I would be honoured to, Lady Mai.”
“You are sweet and innocent,” it was her sister who spoke this time, glasses perched high on her nose that concealed the wariness of her gaze. “I hope the Crown Prince never gets to your routine.”
“I’m sorry?”
“It’s nothing; she was talking to herself. Maki does that a lot,” Lady Mai’s forced chuckles were barely heard from the music. “You enjoy the party now. Don’t drink too much lest you want to embarrass yourself in everyone’s eyes and be talk of the Kingdom. Prince Naoya would hate it if you took the attention away from him.”
“Oh, uhm...”
“It’s a joke, Lady Y/N. Relax.”
You bowed once more. “My apologies.”
“The dance is about to begin,” Maki tapped on your shoulder, making you look up right where her eyes zeroed in. And exactly in the middle of the grandiose hall, under the sparkling golden chandeliers where he made all the gold in the world look incomparable next to him, the Crown Prince stood in his fully glory. Blond hair with the ends stained of midnight gelled back to reveal his forehead, the Crown Prince’s beauty never failed to shine. Whether it be in the papers, in the tabloids, in the billboards that you passed on the way to the city, or from way back when you met him for the first time as a naive, innocent teen – Crown Prince Naoya came straight out of a magazine cover.
In the back of your head, you could hear either of the twins murmuring good luck. Maybe both of them had said it – you had no idea. All of your attention, all the sensibility and coherence of your state had been switched the next instant, as if your heart and soul was born for the sole purpose of being bewitched by your Crown Prince.
And as if feeling someone’s gaze on him, the Crown Prince’s eyes trailed over the crowd. Almost boredly, his sharp eyes bounced from one giggling woman to another, the ends of his lips smirking upwards for just the tiniest bit. It must’ve stroked his ego. Until his eyes connected with yours. The Crown Prince’s eyebrows knitted together. You had no idea how you looked in that moment, and quite frankly, you didn’t care. Because the Crown Prince was looking at you, and you were looking at him with hearts in your eyes along with your heart pulsing at the tip of your tongue.
“Let us begin,” his lips moved from the distance, “Play the music. I shall dance with my bride.”
The air shifted in a split second. Murmurs were thrown over the room, women and men alike turning pale. Even the orchestra was stunned from the Crown Prince’s entrance – and it hadn’t even been dramatic to his standards – yet the whole castle fell mum from just a few of his words. A few seconds later, the crowd recomposed itself, and the strings began to dance along with its bows.
You are pushed into the crowd. Nearly colliding into the arms of another, you quietly thank the masked man who was to be your first partner of the night.
All the men joining the dance floor dressed with the intention of making the Crown Prince shine. Prince Naoya stood out from the throng of white as per the colour code, his blood red uniform as both Prince with the  golden crest of the military leader pinned to his right breast. The other men meant to be filler partners until all the potential brides got to their designated three minutes with the Prince were all dressed in black, faces covered behind a plain black mask. None were allowed to talk. None were allowed to utter even a word, and so your partner pursed his lips in displeasure at your apology.
Whatever. You just had to wait a few more rounds before the song finished and transitioned into a new one; the song where you’d been informed would be your time alone with the Prince.
You’d been so lost in your head you barely breathed the entire dance. From partner to partner, you blanked. Your heart drummed so wildly in its cage it begged to come out, and strings of apologies were let out each time your masked partners grimaced for a brief second when their hands came in contact with your sweaty ones. Around you, all the lovely women smiled and danced graciously, mouths moving in unreadable conversations shared with the Crown Prince. Not once did you look at the six partners you’ve danced with. Not once did you worry about tripping on your own feet. Not once did you care that some of the masked men held you a little too roughly for your comfort. Your entire reason for existing in that moment was to witness the Crown Prince himself, mirroring his frown that got deeper and deeper with each woman retreating to the sea of people he’d rejected.
Not once did you even think about being one of them – the girls who’ve ducked their heads down as their parents comforted them over not being the chosen one, of bringing ‘dishonour’ to their families that the mighty Crown Prince had deemed them unworthy. Tears streamed down their faces until black ink followed afterwards, lips trembling from silent sobs.
Despite their broken prides – although there was that minority who simply sighed in relief after returning to their own families – no one would dare interrupt the Crown Prince’s dances.
All of these thoughts crossed your mind too late and at the exact time your masked partner pulled away from you, body half bent in a bow with his arm outstretched to the side. Following where he was gesturing at, your eyes met the Crown Prince’s tall and lean stature, a few blond fringes now fallen from his movements.
Even though a thin layer of sweat shone from his face, Prince Naoya remained ethereal.
And like a snake charmed by the musician’s seductive tone, your feet moved on its own. Fingers stretching until it met with the Crown Prince’s large and warm ones, you were now in front of him. With him. Holding him, touching him, meeting him eye for eye and realizing – gold. His eyes burned a deep shade of gold, elegantly rich and heartbreakingly stunning your heart ached.
Before you knew it, your hands began to tremble, feeling as if your body had been corded into a corset three sizes smaller. You could not breathe, and the Crown Prince took notice.
“You are stiff. Do I make you uncomfortable?” Good Saint. If only possible, you would’ve closed your eyes and basked in the deep warmth of his voice. It reverberated from deep within, breathed out with an air of natural authority and profound confidence it made your knees weak. As if sensing his effect on you (though for the wrong reasons, it seemed), Prince Naoya hummed to himself. “This routine shall last for a few minutes before I can let you go, I’m afraid.”
You instantly realized the implications of your silence. “N-not at all, Your Highness! I am honoured to be dancing with you.”
“There is no honour in a choreographed dance. Everyone will dance with me. It’s nothing special.”
Your heart fell. Prince Naoya not only sounded dejected, but detached as well. As if he found no pleasure or specialty in this event, at a time where he had every opportunity to meet his lover, and that this ball was merely a task to be checked off in his already long list of responsibilities. It wasn’t disappointment, per se, but rather melancholy that left a bitter taste in your mouth. Not because Prince Naoya held little to no regards for something you treasured, but because he sounded terribly alone. Like he was simply waiting for it to end out of discomfort.
“It’s special to me, Your Highness,” you blurted out faster than you could stop yourself. For a moment, you feared you may have offended him, but the Crown Prince only laughs.
And when he did – saint, when he laughed – his eyes crinkled into half moons, pearly whites flashing against the bright lights and his whole chest shook with amusement.
You’d never seen him smile this way before.
Prince Naoya’s laughter didn’t cease. Around you, your gut instincts told that people were now beginning to look; the Crown Prince’s deep rumbles of laughter sounded exquisitely like music as well, after all. “ Is it special to you because you are now dancing and within the Crown Prince’s proximity? As much as I presume how exhilarating it might be for those who mostly see me in the papers and in the tabloids, I assure you, dancing with your Prince is not an honour. Especially when you are all sent the invitations based on your status and not your worthy traits.”
“It’s special to me,” you mumbled, growing shy all of a sudden when the Crown Prince nodded at you to continue. “Because...because it reminds me of the first time we met.”
The Crown Prince hummed in amusement.
“We have met before?”
“Yes, Your Highness. I’m from the Terratian Borders – my father is a loyal servant of His Majesty. You visited the borders when you were eighteen and I was sixteen. Do you remember it, Your Highness? You stormed in my private library.”
Indeed, the young barely-out-of-his-teens Crown Prince barged into your home’s library years ago. You were not previously informed he and his parents would be visiting since they arrived wordlessly, so you were stuck in your chambers as usual, killing time if not for sleeping and tending to the animals. Perched on a ladder, you attempted to reach for a book on the upper shelf when your foot slipped beneath you. At the age of sixteen, you were dramatic enough to say your life flashed before your eyes. You would’ve screamed then had strong arms not appeared out of nowhere, the Crown Prince staring at you with wide, golden eyes as they were now, his breathy rasped as he asked, are you okay, my lady?
The mere recollection of that fateful memory had your cheeks warming in delight. “You were so charming and heroic back then. Even when I had no idea you were a royal, I would have still believed you to be princely,” you said rather absentmindedly, blinking once then twice at your words. “Of course, it’s understandable if you do not remember, Your Highness!”
“My apologies. I do not remember, though Terratia is a wonderful place. Such a shame I was not informed beforehand they had a lovely daughter.”
“Thank you, Your Highness,” you cheered back, cheeks and jaw beginning to ache from how wide you were smiling. But could anyone blame you? You felt absolutely silly that you were a breath away from passing out minutes ago, and now here you were, dancing with the Crown Prince and sharing memories with him like it was a daily occurrence. The words it’s true love when you feel at peace with them suddenly rang back at your head from that latest romance novel you read, and you turned away, hoping the Crown Prince would not read your thoughts to your face. However, Prince Naoya’s lips pursed into a thin line, all traces of humour now disappeared. “I’m sorry – should I not have laughed?”
“No, I don’t mind,” he mused with his jaw locked tight, “I just haven’t seen anyone react that way before.”
“Like what?”
“Like my words meant the entire universe to them. I may dare even say you look terribly in love, though I cannot blame you on that one, can I?”
Prince Naoya shook his head the minute the words left his mouth. Forcing himself to believe it couldn’t be real, perhaps, you truly did not know anymore. Your only plan for tonight was to see the Crown Prince and get to live out your dream of seeing him once more even for just a brief moment before you travelled back home while he married another, and yet – “Your Highness, I’m in love with you. I have always been since the day we met.”
You could no longer stop the words. The voice at the back of your head begged you to shut up and not cause a scene, that your time had passed up and people were staring, yet you remained in his arms no matter how much you wanted nothing more than for the ground to swallow you whole.
“Please do not misunderstand me, Your Highness. I did not come here to attempt to steal your heart and be your wife, though I will admit I have dreamt of meeting you again for so many moons. I...I only want to tell you this. That I love you and even though it was a brief moment, I think the love I’ve always read about felt real and possible for the first time in my life,” chuckling nervously, you gather to courage to face him, adoration shining for the Crown Prince stood shock still before you, however stunned he may be. “I love you, Your Highness. I love you. And to whoever lucky woman you choose to be your betrothed, I hope she takes care of you and showers you with all the affection you are deserving of. You would make a great King. So God help his Crown Prince, and may you lead us all into a better world.”
Prince Naoya did not budge a muscle. His eyes remained hard on yours, breath warm as his nostrils fumed. With each passing second that he did not speak, you grew restless and tugged your arm away from his hold with a disgraceful smile.
You’d truly crossed your line. The repercussions to be faced for this impoliteness would destroy your family’s honour. You had to leave. “Your Highness? The song has changed. It’s time to let go—”
The Crown Prince inched close enough until his hair tickled your cheeks, his deep voice sending shivers down your spine as he pulled you close, close enough that your lower bodies touched. Skin ablaze with heat, you dared not move an inch. “Do you mean it?” he demanded lowly, his fingers ghosting over your wrist to hold you in place. “Do you truly love me? Not for what I have, not for who I was born to be, but me as a person itself?”
Closing your eyes to shudder in a deep breath, you exhaled. “Of course, Your Highness. Even if you were not born as a Prince, I’m sure I would’ve still loved you in a different universe.”
“But I do not know you.”
“We don’t have to know each other, Your Highness, and we never will. Once you let me go, I’ll return to the shadows where I belong, and I will continue supporting you until the day of your coronation.”
“And if I refuse to let you go?” he clicked his tongue, “What will you do then?”
The Crown Prince’s spicy perfume must be an aphrodisiac or hypnotizer of sorts. Everything he did messed with your mind that it was too late – the music had stopped and people were no longer drinking or chatting. Everyone’s eyes were on you and the Crown Prince. You could only imagine how controversial this position must be; with his lips trailing dangerously close to that sensitive spot in your neck where you nearly moaned. You really needed to leave.
“P-people are looking, Your Highness. You do not want this affair with someone you won’t choose—”
“Who said I won’t choose you?” Finally, he pulled away. But Prince Naoya never once tore his gaze away from yours, nor did he allow you to look at anyone but him as he caresses your jaw so light and feathery you wondered if he was truly there.“Who said I haven’t laid my eyes on you the moment you walked in here? This ball is for naught because of you, Lady Y/N. I’ve already made my choice, and you helped me confirm it as soon as you danced with me.”
“Your Highness...”
“Look at me,” he ordered, your eyes flitting from his pinkish lips to his sharp nose and then to his fox-like gaze. Only this time, Prince Naoya was no longer harsh. “Don’t be scared.”
“But they’re looking.”
“You are with me, of course they’ll look,” he teased, “They wish to be you right now. But ignore them and dance one more time with me.”
It wasn’t like you had a choice, but did it matter? One nod from him was all it took before the orchestra fumbled back to their spots and a new song played, Ode of Moonlight Lovers, and the Crown Prince was guiding you back to where he had originally danced with you.
From the corners of your eyes, you caught a glimpse of your parents with their mouths gaped open; your father looking like he was on the verge of passing out. However, you felt nothing but joy, nothing but the adrenaline pumping through your veins as he danced and twirled you in his arms. When the music stopped and you were both panting for air with silly smiles on your face, it dawned on you that you were with the Prince. No, rather, it was only you and the Prince alone. Even in the sea of people whose faces began to blur, he prevailed crystal clear.
You could recognize him anywhere, find him everywhere.
Prince Naoya stepped impossibly closer until your chests touched, hearts beating as one. Cupping your jaw, he was near enough that he swallowed all your shaky breaths with a small, teasing smile like you both shared a secret the entire world could not know.
“Do I still make you nervous?”
Laughing, you nodded. “Yes, Your Highness. I feel like I’m going to explode.”
“It’s beloved now,” he corrected, face inching closer and closer to a point you could count the number of his lower lashes. “And what do lovers do to seal their union?”
“M-Marriage?”
“Close, but this is much better.”
If anyone were to tell you that you would have a love story ripped out straight from a fairytale, you would’ve laughed at their faces. You were no Cinderella, nor were you a goddess of beauty that could’ve possibly caught the Crown Prince’s eye. Yet, his soft lips were on yours, kissing you with as much passion you could only dream of that you cried.
Strong hands guiding the back of your waist, Prince Naoya dipped you lower to the ground – the grand of finish of his dance. He had chosen his bride.
The crowd cheered and rejoiced all around you, making you smile into the kiss. Fisting his collar to bring him closer to yours, your mouth burst into metaphorical fireworks as soon as his tongue mingled with yours for an experimental taste. He was bitter yet sweet; expensive wine resting on his tongue, yet a delicate vanilla sat heavily on his soft lips that molded with yours. It was a taste you could spend forever being addicted on. And you were crying, crying so much your chest ached and the Prince’s cheeks grew damp from yours. You’d dreamt of this for so long, too long now.
Prince Naoya slowly pulled you away, his thumb wiping the tears away from the pads of your cheeks with tenderness in his touch. However, the Prince was not satisfied. The crowd whooped as he leant down to kiss your forehead. “You are mine now, my princess.”
Looping his hands with yours, the Crown Prince led you out of the castle. The crowd parted naturally to make way for the new couple, and you were left staring at his broad back and the tuft of blond hair where you’d soon find out how soft it would be. Sending one last glance to your crying parents, you waved goodbye. You had no idea where the Crown Prince would take you but you were already bunching your dress up, heart completely filled with trust you did not question it. What mattered tonight and for the rest of your life was that it felt right. That it was him – your beloved Prince Naoya Zen’in and soon to be husband – that you’d follow through the moon and back.

When Jaskier wakes up, it’s to the sound of crackling fire.
And chatter.
Blinking himself awake, he tries to rub sleep out of his eyes, but finds that his hands (and his entire body, at that) are buried under a mountain of furs. He tries to wiggle out, but it’s so tightly tucked under himself that he ends up rolling down from the bench he’d been presumably placed on, and falling on the floor, like a potato sack.
“Urgh,” he protests, barely audibly.
He arranges himself into a sitting position — which is hard, given he has no use of his arms or legs so he just has to rotate himself on the floor like a court jester — and like this, he can look at the fire of the imposing hearth in front of him. He looks into the roaring flames with a placid smile, enjoying its warmth and the pleasant sensation of the furs tickling his nose.
But then it dawns on him — he doesn’t know where he is. He’s sitting dangerously close to a burning fire wearing furs as a straitjacket and that is decidedly not a smart move, and where in the world have his captors taken him this time, he’d already mapped out his cell and befriended the mice and if they don’t see him soon enough they’ll forget him because he knows mice don’t have a good short-term memory circuit and—
“You’re awake.”
The voice shakes him out of the clutches of his rising panic. He turns his head, as much as the furs allow him to, and sees a blond girl watching him with a curious expression.
“I am,” he tries to say, but his voice is rough with disuse so he has to give it another go. “I am. And you are…?”
“I’m Fio— I mean, Ciri.” She smiles. “My name is Ciri.”
The name does ring a bell, the girl’s familiar face even more so. He can’t quite place the green-blue eyes and the hair, but it’s definitely someone he knew before— “My goodness,” he exclaims. “Princess Cirilla!” He tries to move but then remembers the fur prison he’s in. “I’m terribly sorry, I would bow to you but I, uh, can’t move right now.”
“Oh,” she says, and makes haste to crouch down beside him. “I’m sorry, I didn’t even realize. They didn’t want you to get cold.” And before Jaskier can ask who they are, she says, “Also, you don’t have to bow to me. I’m not a princess.”
He clicks his tongue, but nods. “I’m Jaskier,” he tells her, finally being able to stretch out his hand. “It’s lovely to meet you.”
“Likewise,” she says, her small palm fitting into Jaskier’s calloused and scarred one, and with unimaginable strength, she pulls him to his feet. “Now come! I’ll let the others know you’re awake.”
And then she leaves, white-blond hair like a ribbon behind her.
Jaskier rubs his hands on his trousers, trying to get some of the week-old dirt out of them, steeling himself to beg for permission to stay at— wherever he is, if it turns out the people Ciri mentioned as the others are in fact good people and not Nilfgardiaan minions, just like almost everyone in his life turned out to be.
He doesn’t have time to go down that road, though, because suddenly there are shadows cast on the floor and when he looks up, he almost hopes this is another one of Nilfgaard’s torture devices.
Because across from him stand Ciri, and Geralt, and Yennefer.
The perfect trio.
“Oooooh no,” he says, turning his back to them, looking around for his things, but then remembers he’s been a prisoner and there are no things to his name now. “No no no no, this is— Ciri, thank you, but no. I am— no. This is not happening.”
And Geralt says, “Jaskier.”
At the same time Yennefer says, “Bard.”
And he’s considering throwing himself out of the nearest window or into the hearth when he turns around and he sees them.
Like, properly sees them.
And he laughs.
He should be terrified of laughing in the vicinity of Yennefer, under any circumstances, but he hasn’t had a good laugh in months, and the opportunity is just too good to pass up, even if he ends up sleeping out in the snow. And he forgets everything he’s felt and thought and sang about because even though the mere sight of Geralt makes his skin crawl, this is simply too good to be true.
Because Geralt— Geralt’s wearing—
“What in the ever-loving hell,” he says, moving across the room and reaching a hand out to Geralt’s decidedly not laughing form, “is this.”
And Geralt growls out, “My new armor.”
Because Geralt is wearing armor, and yes, new it is, but the shoulder plates are different and the leather is sturdier and his potions are strapped to his thigh, but more importantly—
“Are these… abs?”
Jaskier can’t stop laughing, bringing a finger up to Geralt’s middle and tracing the defined and unmistakable lines of what he knows was a conscious decision.
Geralt steps back, grumbling under his breath.
And momentarily, Jaskier fears he’s crossed a line, that he’ll definitely be thrown to the, uh, wolves of Kaer Morhen (they didn’t cover fauna and flora of the Kaedweni mountains in Oxenfurt), but then Yennefer looks at Geralt and laughs.
And Geralt tries to protest, but Yennefer says, “He’s right to laugh. This is the worst choice you’ve ever made in your long, long life.”
“I must have hit my head,” Jaskier says. “You’re siding with me.”
Yennefer shakes her head. “Yes, well,” she says, moving toward him. “Bad choices seem to be the trend at the moment.” And she smiles, and Jaskier finds himself smiling too, until she says, “If your hair is any indication.”
And then there’s a squawk of indignation on his part. “How dare—”
“This…” she runs a long fingernail through his hair. “Middle-part, longer-at-the-front, shorter-at-the-back thing is really… daring.”
“It’s the latest fashion! You wouldn’t—”
He pauses.
Yen arches an eyebrow at him. “What?”
And oh, she’s coming down with him, because now that she’s stepped closer to him he can see her hair, long and shiny and wavy, but irregularly streaked with—
“You got highlights?” He feels his laughter roaring back to life, but tamps it down for his own personal safety. “You. Yennefer of Vengerberg. Oh ho ho, you are in no condition to talk to me about fashion! Look at this!”
And he moves to touch her but she dodges him, face impassive.
“Bard—”
“I mean, Geralt, I understand,” Jaskier says, gesturing at Geralt’s frowning form. “He wouldn’t know good taste if it kicked him in the face, but you— Yen, you had a reputation. Last time I saw blonde highlights like these was back when my friend Essi tried to bleach her hair with endrega venom.” He gasps. “Did you do this under extreme duress? Did they force you to?”
“Yen, no,” Geralt says when Yen lifts a threatening hand in Jaskier’s direction. “We need his help.”
She lowers her hand. “Whatever.”
There’s a beat of silence as the three of them stare into each other’s eyes.
Geralt’s armor creaks. Yen’s highlights catch on the firelight. Jaskier’s hair falls into his eyes.
“So,” he says at last. “You need my help?”

“Hey! Close the door!” You squeaked and hid yourself from the burning brightness emitted from the opened door. A small shadow slid through the opening of the door and quickly shut it, the word ‘sorry!’ repeated over and over.
Your eyes quickly readjusted to the darkness and you saw Sal, holding his school bag and a gameboy.
“Hey, Mask Boy.” You wiggles your toes at him and he hummed. “Was school tolerable?”
He shrugged, opening his bag and pulling out an orange car and setting it on the floor. You smiled and reached down to it, rubbing your thumb behind its ear.
“Hi Gizmo!” You grinned at the plump cat and he purred and pushed himself into your touch. Sal chuckled and sat next to his cat and leaned onto your knee. He began rambling about how his day at school was, how boring classes were, Travis, and a new oddity in the school he discovered. You listened to him curiously, albeit getting a bit agitated about Travis and his infuriating antics.
“I’ll come to school with you tomorrow….” You mumbled. “I know I don’t go much anymore, just having you and Larry give me my homework and letting you turn it in, but I’ll go with you guys tomorrow.”
Sal nodded, holding his excitement behind his mask and simply saying ‘ok’.
“You’re smiling under that mask aren’t you?” You teased and he didn’t say anything, just a noise of embarrassment. You giggled and ruffled his hair, continuing with your game.
“Did you get a new character?” Sal asked.
You sighed, “Unfornately no. They just gave me a stupid 4star claymore.”
“Hey! Claymores are badass!” Sal defended with a happy tone.
“That’s why I’d be a bow or pole arm user. Light weapons.”
You scoffed playfully, “Like you could even lift one! I bet they weight like 60 pounds!”
“Nah, catalyst needs no weight at all. Just waving your arms around with attacks.”
“Is that why you main Mona?” Sal smiled, watching as you used Zhongli’s burst to destroy a bunch of fatui.
“Hey! Mona is gorgeous.”
Sal took hold of his cat, stroking his tail. “She’s also very mysterious.”
“Which makes her even better! It’s written in the stars!” You grinned and Sal rolled his eyes.
“Ninguang’s better.”
You began quickly mashing your buttons, trying to defeat the stupid abyss lector in time so you could pass. Sal began chuckling at your rising frustration and when you started shouting for Razor’s burst to recharge, he lost it, bursting into a fit of laughter. You got really close to the TV and began shaking the controller, unleashing a purple wolf made of electro at the hydro abyss mage.
“C’mon! Just dieee!” You groaned and kept slashing the oversized fluff ball until it disintegrated into red ash. The timer stopped and it showed you with two stars. You raised the controller in the air and smiled, falling back onto Sal and cheering for yourself.
“You really hate abyss mages, huh?” He smiled at you and you pouted, raising a middle finger to the screen.
“Fuck you, fuck ya daughter, fuck ya grandmother, fuck ya dead great grandmother. Fuck you, and all ya kids. And your ugly ass motherfucking black ass son!” You jeered at the teasing enemies, a great distain for them in your heart. Sal crawled to sit between your legs and watch you blow through the spiral abyss. He urged you to use your bursts at times and would cheer for you softly whenever you managed to gain three stars. He undid his pigtails and pulled his fingers through them, even using it’s length to try and distract you.
You played for hours, co-opting with Sal and Larry to fight bosses, help Larry with his trash character builds and unlock all the waypoints in his world.
☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾
You looked at the school’s name hanging above it’s entrance with annoying and a twinge of fear. You didn’t even realize how long you were there until a hand intertwined itself with your left one. You looked at Sal, a smile coming to your face and you walked inside. You waved to Maple and Chug, seeing them at Maple’s locker with a a notebook and a pencil. You didn’t bother to stop at your locker, deciding to carry your bag with you throughout the day.
“Hey Y/N!”
You looked to Ashley who was putting lipgloss on in her locker mirror. She turned to you and waved to you, walking up to you and Sal. You smiled at her and the three of you walked to your first classes.
When you sat down, you heard your teacher make a hum towards you. You looked up at him and he lifted his chin.
“I was wondering when you’d return, Y/N.” He croaked, his neck turning to look at the door. “I figured you’d drop out.”
A few giggles came out from the corners of the class. You felt an arm on your side, telling you to let it go but you tilted your head with a shit-eating grin, “And I thought you’d be fired, yet we’re both here so..”
Your teacher narrowed his eyes at you, which only made your grin grow with satisfaction. He began teaching, mostly boring stuff about biology. The only problem was it was so boring you felt like sleeping, until a buzz on your waist kept you awake. You pulled up your phone and read a text from Larry, asking you to bring the ‘stuff’ from your locker. You replied with an ‘ok’ and continued to pretend to pay attention. Your imagination began to wander, thinking of how big Bowser must be. At least 9 feet, but that’d make Mario an Italian midget…. And peach would be like 5’7.
Lunch was okay, but you didn’t eat the school’s lunch, not after the bologna incident. You watched as Sal came up to you from his geometry class and sat beside you. Larry and Ashley joined you. Larry gave you a look and you pulled up a grocery bag to the table. Larry smiled wide and untied it, pulling out a container of Chinese food. Ashley gasped and asked how he got it.
“Don’t worry I got us all food.” He reassured and pulled out a box of tacos for Ashley and a container of sushi for Sal.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were going to school today.” Larry said.
“You’re good. I’ll steal you guys’ food.” You giggled and immediately snatched a taco from Ash. She made a face and it made you snort. You immediately covered your mouth of embarrassment, your friends laughing at the noise.
“It’s ok, it’s cute Y/N. I promise.” Sal looked at you with warm eyes and you nodded shyly, biting into your stolen taco. Larry handed you a piece of drenched chicken bite and you took it, biting into it.
“Yknow, we should actually go out for lunch. It’d be more fun.” Ashley beamed.
“Yeah but I don’t wanna hear a teachers mouth about us leaving….” You rolled your eyes at the thought.
“What’re they gonna do? Tell us we can’t eat?” Larry laughed at his words and Sal shrugged.
“This isn’t too bad of an idea… putting stuff in one of your lockers.” He said and you nodded, wrapping your arm around him and pulling him to whisper in his ear.
“On your birthday, I’ll leave some applesauce and pizza for you in my locker. Your favorite brand and shop, ok?”
Sal nodded eagerly, his pigtail bouncing with happiness. The four of you looked around to see some kids leaving for next class and you decided to do the same.
“Hey, shithead!”
Sal sighed at the aggressive voice and turned to see Travis, an aggravated scowl on his face. You rolled your eyes at the dumb bully and started to pull Sal to your next class.
“What the hell do you want Travis?” He said, rather annoyed at these interactions with the boy.
“You think because your bitch is here you can act all hard in front of her?!” He shouted, which made you a little pissed. “Yeah, I’m talking to you, what?”
“Travis, you aren’t even worth my time.” You declared and turned away from him. A set of heavy footsteps came rushing towards you and Sal, a hand shoving you to the ground and a few thuds landed in your eardrums. You saw yourself on the tiles, and Sal on his knees holding his mask. You stood up and stomped toward Travis. He had a nonchalant look on his face, asking you what you were gonna do, that you wouldn’t dare hurt him. You whipped your hand across his cheek, pushing him back into the lockers. You stared daggers at him as you helped Sal stand and walked him to another hall. As Travis tried to get to Sal once more, you stepped toward him and pushed him back again, a look of rage on your face was enough to tell him to stop.
You looked at Sal once you were around the corner, trying to see if he was ok, but he hid his face. His mask was clutched to his chest and his fingers did their best to cover his scarred skin. You peeled them off, telling him to let you look and he closed his eyes in fear that you’d be disgusted. You rubbed his jaw, blood forming on his bottom lip and a gross slit on it. You wiped it gently, fear of opening the gash or hurting your precious Sal. You eyed the bruised lip, decided to lean forward and give the blue haired boy a soft kiss. He looked at you with wide eyes as you smiled sweetly at him.
You put his mask back on mad began to go to your next class but he stopped you.
“Why’d you…. Why’d you do that?”
You patted his head. “That’s what couples do. We’re no different, Sal. C’mon.”
He nodded and the two of you quickly rushed to class.
☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾☾
You heard the door of your room open and turned to see Sal and Larry walk in. You nodded to them and they waved to you.
“Did you bring my food?” You asked and Larry put a bag of sweets on your dresser. You thanked him and Sal sat beside you as you clicked away at your mouse and keyboard. He watched as you looked at the cameras, flipped your bear mask on and winded up the music box.
“Hey… heyyyy, get back.” You ordered as you flashed the red fox. Then your fingers fumbled to pull the mask over your head and a broken down animatronic appeared in your office. You gasped held your breath, throwing the protective mask on, but to no avail. You died.
You groaned in frustration and reached for the box of sweetness, grabbing a soft cookie and biting into it.
“Why do you okay that game? It’s so scary..”
Larry mumbled. You smiled at his comment, saying the game wasn’t scary and that Larry was just a baby. He tried to defend himself, saying that the game was scary but when you started up the game and he saw the shiny new chicken move to another room, he shrieked.
You laughed as he proved your point and kept playing your game, trying to beat the night and advance. You listened to Sal and Larry go on about their school day and you laughed as you kept your focus on your game.
“Did Travis do anything today?” You asked and Sal shook his head. Larry gave you a look as you reached for another cookie, asking if something happened when you went to school. You shook your head and explained what happened with you and Sal.
“That little…..!” Larry fumbled his words from anger and you waved it off, telling him to calm down and to drop it.
“That blond turd won’t do anything. And if he does, I’ll kick his ass.” You declared. Sal smiled at your words, thanking you for your help earlier. You turned and smiled at him, “I’m your partner in crime. It’s part of my job description.” You turned back but saw a bright blue bunny with rosy cheeks jump for you, killing you. You groaned in frustration, hearing one of Larry’s screams of terror. Sal chuckled and apologized for distracting you.
“Alright you dumb animals…. Let’s see what you got.”

Fred Lives (But does he really?)
Chapter 2 : Shock
His family look at him, expecting a reply since he was seen last with Percy.
He can't say it. He can't.
So what comes out of his mouth is " I'm so sorry."
That's when their expressions change, when they realise what it means, what he's trying to convey to them.
His mum grabs him and shakes him, refusing to believe.
"NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,no,no,no,no"
She repeats it again and again, louder at first unless it slows down to mumbling as if she's trying to convince herself that it isn't true.
Dad almost falls down, but Bill catches him and Dad grips Bill so hard as if afraid that Bill would die too. Bill isn't any better, his face is pale as if he can't believe it either.
Fred can't even look at George and Ginny, he can't even meet his Mum's eyes as he bows down his head.
It's even worse when they see the body.
Mum notices first, it really isn't difficult to, the bright Weasley red hair sticks out among the browns and the blacks. Fred didn't even know that there were people carrying bodies. There shouldn't be so many bodies.
Mum lets out a bloodcurdling scream, that has everyone in the Hall shocked, as she races to Percy. Harry jumps startled and even Fred loses his footing and almost falls but George catches him.
Mum's scream was so deafening, there was a silence in the Hall as everyone stood as still as a statue, and stared at her with pity. It sent chills down Fred's spine over how the scream was full of grief and shock. It scared him to hear mum like that.
Dad goes after his wife, attempting to comfort her but a mother's grief no bounds. Mum has lost her brothers to the First War and now a son to the Second. There is no comfort that Dad could ever offer.
Fred feels guilty, he's only thinking about Mum and not Dad. He has no clue as to what Dad's feeling at the moment. He doesn't think he ought to even ask.
Bill breathes heavily before following them, his eyes still in shock and head down. Fred thinks Bill might feel responsible for it ( eventhough Bill ought not to. He wasn't there) Being the eldest is a bane and a boon, and right now it's the former.
Bill holds Percy in his arms. Fred watches. Bill might have been there to hold Percy when he was born and now he's holding him when he's dead. Irony is a funny thing.
The younger four go together to his body, Ron and Ginny hold hands and George holds his. Fred doesn't know what he would do without George. Probably crash and burn to the ground.
Fred can't meet any of his family memebers' eyes. He can't. It's just too hard.
Hermione and Harry linger behind them as they sit around Percy. Harry was probably going to blame himself. Fred's really tired of everyone blaming themselves for something they couldn't control.
Percy's still dead. Fred thought he might wake up. Maybe some Weasley magic or something but he's still dead.
Fred was there, he saw it happen, he saw Percy die but even then he can't believe it. It's just impossible to think of a Weasley dying. Dad and Bill survived, why does Percy die?
"It's not fair", Ginny mutters as she runs her hand in Percy's curls.
Ginny shouldn't be here to see this. He knows she grew up. He knows she's strong and fierce and lovely. But he also knows that Ginny is young. Maybe not innocent, but she's young.
And the young don't deserve this. They don't deserve the fear and the loss. They deserve better.
Fred failed to deliver to Ginny. He failed to do better. She was never innocent, but now she's not young either.
He agrees with her, it's not fair. But a little part of him is glad that Percy died and not him. It wasn't like that it changed the family as much.
Percy wasn't around for the last 3 years. He wasn't there when Dad almost died or when Bill got the scars. He wasn't there.
Fred was. Not Percy.
Those thoughts make Fred feel horrible but he knows that deep down he and probably other family members know it's true.
George squeezes Fred's hand as he looks at his dead brother.
Mum is still clutching and has Percy's head on his lap as she caressed his face, which has no life. Dad holds Percy's hand, something he should have done when he was alive and not lying dead on the floor.
Bill holds Percy's other hand, rubbing it across him as if trying to make it alive again and give some of his life to him.
"WHERES MY FAMILY"
A holler echoes through the hall.
There's no mistaking the voice. Despite not hearing it in a while, he cannot misremember the voice.
It was Charlie.
Charlie doesn't know.
Fred doesn't know how to go through that ordeal again. He can't tell Charlie. He doesn't want to move from Percy's side either. He's paralyzed in this position.
Ron, his eyes tired and scars on his body. He looks at Percy as if he was a stranger. Fred knows Ron cares. Of course he bloody does. But there is no emotion, no tear, no anger. Ron just stares at Percy. It makes Fred question whether Ron, who wears his emotions on his sleeves, is sad or not.
Ron stands.
Ron (the bravest of them all) calls out to Charlie and then there's this big toothy grin on Charlie's face which... which would be wiped out very soon.
Every slow step Charlie takes, causes Fred to get anxious. He just wants it over and done with. Maybe it's an awful thing to want but he just wants this over with.
"Finally I found you lot, what-"
That's when he notices Percy.
"PERCY"
It's another scream, another grief that won't be healed as fast as we want it to.
Bill holds Charlie as he sobs. Two elder brothers crying for the younger one. They'll probably share the blame.
Charlie doesn't cry. Fred had never seen Charlie cry, even in the worst of situations. Charlie gets a pass because of the circumstances.
Seeing Charlie sob over Percy is even worse because Charlie wasn't present when Percy apologised, he didn't hear his brother's last words.
Charlie didn't even get a chance.
And it makes Fred heart break all the more.

Scorpion/GN!Reader.
Might kiss you, might rip out your guts.- part one
If you think you've read this before, you've read the earlier version! I've edited and changed enough of the story to need a new post about it, so here it is!
A short summary would be that this is a enemies to friends to lovers fic between a winged reader and Hanzo Hasashi. It will be split in 2 or 3 parts!
I also feel like I should clarify that Hanzo is only referred to as Scorpion because the reader does not know his name until the next part.
MAJOR TW FOR DESCRIPTIONS OF GORE
You could still remember it.
The arena. The smell of the blood, the stench of death. The bodies you saw wheeled out in masses of champions. Blood spattered weapons and walls. A picture was clear in your mind of the horror you felt. Of the anxiety and fear you had to push down every moment you remained in that coliseum. After all the training you had been through, nothing could've prepared you for this.
Being a renowned half breed, one of earthrelm and outworld, you and all your feathered glory was never under the radar of the Gods. After spending your life in earthrelm with your mother, Raiden believed that he could trust you. He had tracked you down and informed you of the details months earlier. Asked you to ready yourself the best you could, earthrealm couldn't lose this. And there you were, stalking the hallways before your battle.
You were nervous. Who wouldn't be? You were a hunter, not a fighter. You tracked your targets from the sky, taking them down before they had a chance to truly fight back. Your fighting style had never been meant for a closed in fight like this. You had almost told Raiden no for that reason, but with the fate of Earthrealm in as the prize, you couldn't do so with a clean conscience.
You remember the little girl, the servant who was being harassed by a separate contestant. One that was sure to die, if you got your hands on him at least. You had separated him from her, roughing him up just a bit so that he'd run off. Keeping at least one person out of harm's way. You had no idea of the powerful ally you had just made.
When the arena was ready for you, it was safe to say that it was more than a bit overwhelming. The cheers deafened you, the bright white outside blinding your first steps out of the dark corridors. You had splayed your wings wide, trying to make yourself look bigger than you were. You kept your head high as your enemy entered the arena.
When scorpion's form stalked into the arena, your stomach had dropped. He was confident. He knew he was going to win. You hoped you didn't look as afraid as you were. He was a renowned powerhouse. Strength, agility, he had it all. You were at a disadvantage, the huge wings that sprouted from your back becoming a curse. It was nothing you couldn't handle however, you had been in tighter spaces than this.
Hadn't you?
The fight started quickly. You weaved out of his range and dodged his attacks. It was wearing you down. After narrowly missing a particularly nasty kick, you knew you couldn't keep this up for forever. Lifting yourself into the air to try and get an upper hand was easy. You circled the arena around him, preparing to swoop down on him from a nose-dive when-
"GET OVER HERE!" The blade pierced though your right wing, through the muscle and into the bone. A scream of pain ripped through your throat as you were yanked back onto the ground.
A string of explicit words left your mouth as the blade was yanked out. You got your feet just in time for Scorpion to charge at you again. You couldn't dodge this time. He managed to land a punch, but when you blocked the second you had a horrific realization that you were too close to him. There was no chance to evade the attacks easily now, he could just yank you back to where you were. You blocked his blows as best you could, landing a few hits of your own, when he reached a hand out and grabbed your wing.
The excruciating pain had burned itself into your memory. His hand lit up in flames in a split second, charring your wings. You cried out in pain, trying to push him off of you, but he remained unmoveable. Your wing caught fire, and the flames tickled and singed the feathers of the other one.
The pain was all you could think about as your lifeline burned and faded, and you hardly noticed when his blade ripped through your throat. He dropped you to the floor, the fire starting to burn out all the while you gasped and gurgled for air.
It went black quicker than you expected. You had died. What a pitiful ending. Slaughtered in the arena, killed while fighting a pathetic fight. All your years of training, and still you weren't good enough.
The first breath that came back to you felt awful.
The room was quiet. Muffled cheers and screaming was heard from outside the dark brick walls. You brought a hand up to your throat, wincing from the pain that erupted from the charred wing as you stretched. The wound was closed. It was healed. Small, delicate hands steadied you as you sat up. Kind brown eyes watched you with concern. It was the servant girl from earlier. You tried to speak, but let out a horrendous series of coughs. You took a deep breath when they finally stopped.
"I… I thought I was… What happened?" She gave you a tight-lipped smile, showing you her blood covered hands. Runes were carved into her skin. The child had revived you with a magic you couldn't recognize. Your intreage turned to concern as you reached out for her. Holding her hands gently.
You never learned how she knew such powerful magic, and you didn't press her about it. In fact, she never spoke. The servant girl beckoned you to follow her, and led you through tunnels underneath the raging battlefield. Twist after turn, corridor after another, she stopped at a small, empty room.
Three, dead end entryways sat in the circular surroundings. The small girl sat down, giving you a smile, before plucking a sharp, glass dip pen out of her pockets. Out of all the horrors you had seen, your stomach churned and wanted to revolt at the sight of the kind girl cutting along her hands.
Stroke after stroke, she created runes on the backs of her hands, connected them to the ones on her palms and intertwined their meanings. When she had finished, she pocketed the pen again. You went to call out to her, to ask if she was alright, but the words died in your throat as she slammed her hands onto the floor.
With a bright flash, blood ran from her hands, trailing across the floor in dripping, intricate lines. The streams of blood ran straight up the corners of the doorways, lining all three. She sighed deeply and the center doorway lit up.
It was a portal. To home. To earthrealm.
It was beautiful. The chance to leave it all behind. To go home. To rest and recover and… and live.
You couldn't leave her like this. Not without a thank you. Not without something of worth. The girl looks up at you as you move to stand in front of her, hands glued to the floor. She smiles, and in a raspy, broken, almost intelligible string of noises, she speaks.
"F… feather…?" You teared up at the sorry sound of the sweet girl's voice. And knelt down to her, careful of the lines of blood. With a wince, you plucked a feather from your one, good wing, one the size of her forearm. You gently set it in her lap, but she shook her head.
You understood what she meant. With a shaky breath, you finally look over at your charred, destroyed wing. The pain was easy to ignore as long as you avoided the sight. But know there was no ignorance, no pretending it never happened. Your bad wing twitched in a motion that had you crying out in pain, but amongst the remaining, once soft down that fell, a single, black, ashy, sooty, burnt feather fell to your knees. You gingerly pick it up, and give her a skeptical look before setting it in her lap with the other. She smiles again, softly. And bows her head to you.
You turned to look back at her after you stepped through the portal. She finally stands, and bows to you again as the portal closes.
You never saw her again. In fact, you never saw Outworld again. But even though you didn't believe that a feather offering would ever be enough to thank her, you did not forsake her gift to you. It took years for your wing to heal, for the feathers to grow back. A patch of scarred skin still remained where Scorpion's hand had touched you, but with the addition of many different salves and medicines gifted to you by kind strangers, the fluffy, beautiful feathers returned to you. Flight, However. Was harder to take back.
You read almost every book you could find- created every exercise, every lesson you would need. But the burns left behind nerve damage along with the scars. It hurt to move the places that weren't numb. But you couldn't lose this. You couldn't lose your flight. It was the one thing you would refuse to give up. Eventually, and you did mean eventually, you had it back. You were a little wobbly, sure, but once you got up there… once you got in the sky, floating along the wind currents, relaxing in the cool air… It was almost like you have never lost the ability in the first place.
You never fought again. Nor did Raiden ever ask you too. You imagined he still believed that you were dead, but it was none of your concern anymore. You left that life behind. It took years to heal both emotionally and physically from what happened, and in the meantime you realized that the life you had before… it really wasn't for you. You didn't want that pain again. Didn't want the chance to have everything taken from you again.
You sighed, flipping onto your back to glide along with the wind, wingspan on full display. You had taken up traveling after you had learned to fly again. Hopping country to country, island to island, exploring the beauty of your own realm. But all this traveling had started to wear away at you. You longed for home. For your old friends. For family. But you refused to settle back down, traveling despite your homesickness. You'd find a place eventually, but only once you had seen the world. You didn't want to die a second time without experiencing all the lands had to offer.
This time, you didn't actually know where you were traveling to. You had just been cruising along the wind current, relaxing in the sky. The lands below were lush and beautiful, the sky a cloudy grey. A nice, cloudy day had always been your favorite to fly in. Days like these being a kind reminder of the days you were young, and energetic, and still learning the sky. You close your eyes, breathing in the fresh air, the tenseness in your back completely disappearing as you glide. For a moment, all you felt was peace.
Your heart rate spiked as a scream sounded off in the distance. Your wings faltered, and you bobbed in the air. Regaining your steady glide after a moment. You frantically searched the ground, shaky hands flexing into fists.  You spotted a Cliffside, eyes immediately focusing in on the small form hanging onto the edge.
It became harder to focus. You started to panic at the sight of a small boy holding on for dear life. One of his hands slipped away, and you flinched, almost dropping into a dive by reflex, but you had to stop and think as his final hand remained.
You debated with yourself on if you could carry him, or if trying would kill you both. He would die from that kind of fall. You could die from that kind of fall. Could your bad wing take it? You didn't know, but you were running out of time. You dropped into a nosedive as his strength gave out.
The adrenaline almost put you into autopilot, the wind against your face becoming your only sensation. You hadn't gone this speed in years. The base of your bad wing started to tingle at the thought, reminding you of just how numb the rest of it was.
Stop. Calm down. You can do this.
Your panic cooled into a still determination as you grew closer. The boy faced up towards you, eyes wide and panicked and scared. You fought the wind with your arms, finally looping around his waist.
You caught the little boy just 20 feet from the ground. He clung onto your shirt tightly as you started to slow, wings struggling to lift you up after how fast you were falling, after a few, difficult, sore, flaps of your powerful wings, your weight slowly carried you into the gravelly ground below the cliff in a heavy thump. Your knees buckled at the landing, and you cradled the boy underneath you as you collapsed onto your elbows, panting for breath. Your wings surrounded the two of you like a limp cage.
Your bad wing twitched as you struggled to relax it again, and the soreness started to set in. Shit. You really should've practiced that dive in your self-taught physical therapy. Then again, you never thought you'd have to do that ever again.
"Are you ok?" A little voice asked. You opened your eyes to peer at the scared, worried face underneath you. You tried your best to muster a tired, pained smile, and sat up, letting him go. He didn't move far, crouching beside you. You realized that he couldn't have been much older than a six year old.
"I'm fine. I just need a moment…" You mumbled. "Where are your parents, kiddo?" He frowned for a moment, sitting down beside you with his knees underneath him.
"My grandmaster is somewhere in the forest, " He gestured towards the lush greenery of the field around him. "-but I think I might have to search for him." He said, glancing up at the cliff. You nodded in response. Grandmaster huh? You analyzed his clothes. A ninja in training maybe, you didn't know how you hadn't seen it before.
"Don't worry. I'll help you." You smiled up at him while splaying and retracting the bad wing back and forth. After a tense moment, you collected yourself. Making sure that your bag was still secure on you after the fall, and standing. The bad wing drooping limply while the other folded behind you. The boy stood with you, gazing at your wings with wide eyes. You chuckled at his curiosity, holding out a hand for him to take. He stared at it for a moment, and then back up at you.
"Well? Let's go find him." You nudged your hand forward again, and he smiled, taking your hand. You smiled back at him, trying hard not to grimace at the painful soreness of your wing.
Glancing around, you managed to pick out landmarks you had noticed while flying. Creating a path in your mind of how you could make it back up to that shady, tree covered cliff, you tugged the boys hand lightly. He quietly followed beside you as you walked.
You wandered away from the gravely clearing and into the forest around. Helping the child pick his way through the bushes. The short journey took only about twenty minutes. Mostly consisting of following the edges of the cliff until you could find a slope, and a path that he recognized.
He only let go of your hand when the two of you had to climb a steep side of the path. He quickly scaled it, turning towards you. You smiled up at him, stretching your wings to boost yourself up there out of reflex, but you stopped. Wincing at the soreness once again. The boy looked at you quizzically, and you shook your head at him. You slowly climbed the slope, and continued on. Soon enough, you were moving through the flat patch of shady, woody, land just before the Cliffside clearing. The boy took your hand again.
"Thank you." He said softly. You smiled at him again, squeezing his hand, but not speaking. "...I'm Takeda." You were taken aback for a second, and determined whether or nor you should be giving the child your name. It couldn't hurt, could it? Your voice cut clear through the silent woods as you spoke.
"My name is..."
You started to trail off as a man silently emerged from the brush on Takeda's side, knives at the ready for just a moment. His eyes locked with yours, and then widened. Shocked at the sight of you, his defense faltered a bit, but still remained. You, on the other hand, bristled. Huge wings defensively folding around you and the boy.
You wished it was rage that invoked such a reaction, but it was fear. Your eyes stinged with watery tears that you desperately tried to keep under control.
"Takeda, get back." You commanded, pulling him closer to you by his hand. Takeda tried to speak, but you couldn't hear what he was saying. The awful flashes of memory, the smell, the pain, all of it was running through your mind. Your bad wing twitched and almost retracted back into your body, but you painfully forced it still, desperate to protect Takeda.
"I'm not here to fight you, and I'm certainly not here to hurt Takeda." Scorpion spoke, gaze soft. He hesitated for a moment, but sheathed his weapons. He held his hands out to show you that there were no tricks.  Bullshit. You didn't back down, keeping an angry stare set squarely on him. You could see it in his eyes that he knew that you weren't convinced. Takeda quickly put himself between you two, and you almost reached out to yank him back.
"This is my grandmaster," He spoke in a loud voice. Your eyes widened, flickering back and forth between him and Scorpion. It didn't seem like he was lying, he didn't seem like the kind of kid who would lie- but a child being trained by the deadliest member of the Shirai Ryu? You looked squarely at Scorpion with suspicion, looking him up and down. Your defensive demeanor never let down for a moment. You scowled at him, but when Takeda came back over to you, and reached up for your hands again…
You gave Scorpion a warning look, and relaxed your wings. Feathers smoothing out and wings folding behind your back. You squeezed Takeda's hands gently.
"I thought you were dead?" Scorpion's voice was clear and unwavering, but the question portrayed more than his voice would give away.
"I wonder why." You spit the words like venom. Your bad wing twitched again, this time it felt a little more painful than the twitches normally did. You hissed as you held it still. Takeda frowned, looking like he was about to tear up himself. Scorpion's face fell in a guilty look. This supposed new persona of his had to be a trick. Takeda turned to face his grandmaster. Speaking a few quiet words to him in Japanese that you didn't understand. You were to focused on the pain in your wing to care anyway.
You gazed fondly at the little boy, and sighed. It was clear to see that he was indeed Scorpion's student. You were no longer needed. You inwardly scolded yourself for becoming so attached to the boy so quickly. Sure, you had been longing for a connection… for a family… but this, this was not the place, nor the time.
You looked around, the clearing and cliffside edge was close enough that you could see it through the trees. In an almost dejected manner, you started to make your way over to it. The cliff would provide a great spot to make returning to the sky much easier.
"Will you be able to fly?" Takeda's voice called out to you. You stop in your tracks, turning just slightly so that you could see him, and stretched your wings. You winced as you did, the movement bringing back the soreness and pain you had glimpsed while climbing the slope earlier. You pressed your lips together, only glancing at Takeda before looking back at the sky that shone between the leaves.
If you couldn't leave, where would you go? You certainly couldn't stay here. Not with that Man. Not with Scorpion.
"The Shirai Ryu will extend our kindness to you, if you will accept it." You side-eyed Scorpion as he spoke. Fully prepared to decline before you saw the worried look on Takeda's face. You fully turned towards the two, wings low behind you.
"What does that 'kindness' entail exactly?" Your voice came out just above a whisper, but the malice behind it remained. Scorpion's serious face was a contrast to his student's.
"I am offering you shelter at the fire gardens until you have re-gained your strength." You looked at the boy, and then back at the man who killed you, and then at the sky. Who should you trust? Takeda? Or your own broken body? If you took a fall-
You took a deep breath, bit your fear back, and approached Scorpion and Takeda.

THE CONTINUATION OF AN (UNNECESSARY?) ANALYSIS OF FEMALE COSTUMES IN MY HERO ACADEMIA, THIS TIME FOR VILLAINS
aka I still think Horikoshi’s go-to when designing female characters and their costumes is to focus on their physical attractiveness and not their costumes’ functionality or practicality;
post about female hero costumes here
Since the number of female villains is laughably small, and their screen/panel-time and contribution to the story is even more laughably small, I can describe each one in detail. Not including Vigilantes or movie villains. So let’s go through each of them:
Himiko Toga
• wears a sailor uniform: shirt, dark skirt which is mid-thigh (in latest chapters it seems shorter though, barely covering her butt), on top a baggy sweater with a scarf, also socks below her knees and standard loafers; she gets a mask and a machine on her back, as well as a belt with pouches and knife-holders on her thighs;
• for winter, she gets a coat but her thighs are still exposed, although her socks end mid-thigh now; also a muffler/scarf;
• she also often appears naked, so there’s that;
La Brava
• big bow on her neck, dark shirt, corset belt?, big gloves, poofy pants, knee-high boots on heels (if it weren’t for the heels, I’d have no complaints);
Curious
• long dress from light material that can get tight at times, round cleavage; belt that serves no function; jacket with fur collar; wears wedges (they suck too, see Jill Bearup’s videos);
Lady Nagant
• a curious case, a former hero whose costume was on one panel, so we can look at that too!
• current: tight, sleeveless turtleneck, corset belt (again?!), mid-shin? loose skirt (which can expose her legs when we need fanservice!), boots;
• hero: tight, sleeveless turtleneck, neck and boob braces?, corset? belt for ammo, baggy pants, knee guards, boots;
I’ll also include female Nomu, there’s only one and doesn’t even get a proper name, just... Woman. I’m speechless. Anyway, all Nomu are pretty much naked, so her big boobs are just wobbling around. Yup. Seems like someone needs to check out how boobs of muscular women look like.
Additionally: When Toga got injured in her fight with Curious, I really hoped she would keep the eyepatch, it made her look badass and maybe would introduce consequences for her quirk... but she’s too cute to have scars, I guess.
Now, I should’ve taken a look at how male villains’ wardrobes appear in comparison, right? But honestly, I don’t feel like it, it’s too much work. Like really, there are so many named male villains and pretty much most of their clothes can be summed up with either elegant and classic or baggy and loose.
There are exceptions. Dabi’s outfit is probably the most exposing because of his loose t-shirt/tank-top with a deep neckline that can rise up pretty high (nice), in latest chapters most of his clothes are burning away so he’s showing off quite a lot (nice). Twice wears a skin-tight suit, I guess. Well, there’s also Gigantomachia in all his naked glory. Some guys wear skin-tight tank-tops or run around shirtless.
Yet I never get the same feeling with male villains as the one when I see female villains. I’m not sure if it’s the costumes or the way they’re drawn (the poses, panelling, a lot of aspects) but it’s probably a combination of both. I still think that if I were to actually count and see the percentage then the results would be the same as those from the hero costumes comparison. Females should be sexy or cute, no need for the practical or cool elements, while males should wear comfortable and loose baggy material with occassional armour.
Conclusion: Horikoshi’s still a thigh guy, wearing a corset-belt raises your chances of being a villain, only Lady Nagant knows what to wear to a battlefield shoe-wise (loafers are better than heels or wedges, but imo still suck). Overall, no armour (who needs it, right? Lady Nagant gets some lame braces though), and not much from the ever present in male costumes baggy bullshit. All of them are quite curvy and their outfits/costumes focus on accentuating their boobs or thighs.
Therefore, my point still stands. His costume designs are still sexist.

_____________________________________________________________________
They had landed the war balloon days ago, stalking the tired and defeated Team Avatar and trying to figure out how the complicated Fire Prince would convince the people he chased for months that he wants to help them now.
(Y/N) was stoking the hot flame provided by the fire bender, making sure the coals were burning a cherry red before she added leaves and herbs into a pot to make a stew for the two to enjoy. Her eyes followed Zuko as he paced back and forth, practicing what he was going to say when he finally decided to confront the rebel group, lips turned upward in an amused smirk.
“Hey, Zuko here…” she heard him say before he started rambling a bunch of nonsense about his past; from his discovery, to Azula, to his father-- all the tragic topics. It took him about three minutes, but he finished with a hopeful look in his direction.
“Well?!” He clenched his fists at his side in a nervous gesture, only wanting to get this right.
The girl on the log cleared her throat before speaking, obviously hiding her laughter from the sensitive boy. “Well… it’s perfect. I especially liked the ‘Hey, Zuko here’ part. I’m sure that Aang and his friends with be very pleased to finally learn your name instead of thinking you’re called ‘Angry Ponytail Hotman’.’’
He groaned loudly, rubbing his eyes with clenched fists. The melodic laughter from his companion tempted him to give up his quest and just run away with her and live a happy life free of his father and his destiny… whatever that may be.
Still laughing, (Y/N) stood from her log by the fire and made her way to Zuko, coming up behind him. Her arms slid right around his slim body, holding on tight as she tried to pull his mind from the depths of his insecurities.
“Zuko, love.” Her voice is soft, but intense. “Just go down there. I won’t lie, they might not take you right away. You have done a lot of damage to them and their goals.”
His warm hands slide down the tops of her forearms and slide between her chilled fingers, entwining them together as Zuko grips her like she’s holding him down on the land they’re on.
“I… I just…” He struggles to get his feelings out, finding it hard to convey how he feels even to the girl wrapped around him.
She shushes him. “I know.” Is all she says, as they stand there in a momentary comfortable silence before she detaches from him to continue dinner.
____________________________
Zuko had told her to stay behind, that he’d be back to either get her or because he failed to convince the group that he came to support them, instead of harm them.
“Zuko! I could easily be an alibi for you. A reason for them to trust you!”
“No. End of story. They could attack me and you’re in Fire Nation clothes. You’re staying here.”
A staring match between the two only lasted a few seconds, but (Y/N) let it go; remembering Iroh’s advice that sometimes the boy has to do what eases his mind to grow.
The empty pot gleamed an orange glow from the flames, a light in the dark woods that surrounded the two as they lounged by the fire.
(Y/N) was carding her fingers through the upset prince’s hair while he stared at the sky; confused. His emotions spilling onto (Y/N). He didn’t talk much about the encounter, only enough to tell her that they wouldn’t be helping the Avatar defeat his father anytime soon. Rather than pressure him, she offered her solace with calming actions rather than words.
The two had met in their early childhood, (Y/N)’s father being the leader of the Yuyan Archers and of course the Fire Lord wanted the talented girl to meet his… troubled son. In hope that she could help bend his son into the ruthless leader the nations needed to proceed him. Though they didn’t see each other as much as they should have due to (Y/N)’s schooling, the two quickly became close friends and were often found with Lady Ursa quietly running around the palace grounds.
His banishment led to (Y/N) perfecting her skills, and becoming the master she was destined to be, given there was no more distraction. No one could understand her in the way that Zuko did— they fit together like they were made for one another. Where he was hotheaded, she was cool; Where he was nimble and direct, she was resourceful and hidden. The two were the perfect set of opposites who ultimately balanced each other. And one without the other was a heartbreak everyone could see.
When she heard the news of his return, she rushed to the palace; radiant as ever. In an instant, the two fell back into where they left off;  barely any words needed between the two. Her fingers and lips had trailed over his scar often in those few days, brushing away the tears and insecurities that came with it.
Leaving the Fire Nation with Zuko wasn’t even a debate in her mind. She was tired of the life of lies and torment that her nation inflicted upon the world. She had spent the last two years relocating and rebranding people who were targets to the Fire Nation. In total, about one hundred innocent lives were saved from her dangerous missions. Her skill level was better than even her father’s, and she prided herself in her abilities. (Y/N) was truly a professional in her art with the eye of an eagle.
When she caught Zuko writing a letter to her with packed bags on his bed, she instantly went into the shadows and caught up with the boy easily, hiding in the balloon behind the engine for a while until it was too late for him to turn back. It was hot and the most uncomfortable thing she has ever done, but she regrets none of it. She joked with the boy; how did he not question a pile of fabric behind the piece of equipment that holds fire? She let it go after he hugged her close and cried for a while.
“Don’t do that shit again, Zuko.” Her voice was stern, though her voice stern, she held him close. She ghosted her fingers over his tense shoulders; the shoulder that carried such burdens. She pressed her fingers into his shoulders; trying her best to rub the tension from his body.
“I won’t. Never again. Don’t leave me, I need you.”
A rustle of leaves and broken trees in the forest near the edge of their little camp put the two into defense, instantly gripping her perfectly crafted bow and quiver. Her ears pricked at a slight movement and she aimed her bows in the direction of the noise without even looking. Suddenly, green clothes fill the area as a younger girl makes her way into the clearing. Startled, Zuko sends a wave of fire towards the intruder, burning the girl.
Everything happened fast.
(Y/N)’s left foot—her plant foot—sunk into the ground and twisted inward, releasing a loud crack into the air. The Earth girl was long gone now; Zuko had been screaming at himself when he heard the cry of pain and the sickening noise that left the lips of his girlfriend.
The earth has released its hold on her, but the damage was done. She kneeled, trying to hold back tears but failing as they kept streaming down her face in a pain response. Zuko’s own eyes filled with tears as he ran over to her, helping her sit down and take the tension off of it.
The joint was already beginning to swell, black and blue and purple and yellow starting to show up in swirls around the area. Zuko carefully tried to feel the injury, barely touching the girl in fear of hurting her more. (Y/N) sighed, pushing his fingers away and ignoring his protest. She rotated her foot outward, cringing at the pain, but crying out when she turned it the other way. Zuko cupped his hands around her ankle, hands heated slightly to hopefully alleviate the pain.
“Baby… it’s okay—”
“No, you’re hurt! I knew this would happen!” He cuts her off with a panicked yell. (Y/N) places her hands on the sides of his face, forcing his eyes upon hers with a slight wince of discomfort.
“It’s most definitely, at worst, a fracture. I can still move it outwards without a lot of pain. It’s, like, a week off my foot at most and then another week with a splint and a crutch. I am okay, Zuko.” They stared at each other for a solid minute, saying nothing.
"Promise?" Zuko whispered.
"You think I would lie to you, Zuko?" She says as she wraps her pinky his for good measure
They turn in not too long after, (Y/N)’s ankle wrapped up in some extra clothes for stability. Zuko’s arms hold her to his chest as they slip off into the world of dreams.
_________________________
Oh shit. She thought from her perch on top of the cliff edge. The assassin that they have also been trying to find has been blowing up the place, really testing the stability of the edge of the cliff in shakes after shakes like an earthquake. Zuko had told her to stay at camp, but unfortunately for Zuko; (Y/N) was never that good at listening to commands.
She was sitting down, watching the Avatar, his friends, and her boyfriend try to figure out how to win this fight against the combustion bender, feet dangling over the edge. She didn’t want any pressure on her foot from standing on it; settling for the dull throbs of pain coming from the force of gravity alone.
Some third eye. (Y/N) thought to herself as she watched her boyfriend get too close to being blown off the edge of the cliff, wincing. She quickly strung her bow, aiming it at the man. She smirked, a devious smirk, and aimed it in a precise location.
Zuko was still trying to talk the man out of it when suddenly, his eyes went blank and the grossest sound he has ever heard reached his ears. Everyone watched the man, confused as to why he just stopped. It’s not until red trails down his forehead and around his nose in a slow trickle that they look at his eye.
In the middle of the red eye, that at one point seemed indestructible; an arrow sat; a perfect shot — his perfect shot. "Bullseye!" (Y/N) howled, her voice resonating in his ears.
In the midst of Zuko's panic, he failed to recognize the cliff he was standing on becoming increasingly unsturdy; turning he locked eyes with the archer. A ghost of a smile graced her lips, pride radiating off of her. Though he was angry, he couldn't help but share her pride. He locked eyes with his girlfriend who was sitting nonchalantly on the cliff edge above them all, waving nonetheless, when he told her to stay back. It’s then that the earth beneath him rumbles and falls, taking him with it.
“Zuko!” She screams, jumping to her feet; a loud crack coming from her ankle, buckling under the pressure and bringing her to her knees.
With a hobble in her step, (Y/N) climbed down the cliffside. The tears ran down her face at a ferocious pace, making her way over to the cliffside, a loud sob relented from her mouth as she saw Aang helping Zuko up over the edge of the cliff.
"Spirits, Zuko!" She breathed, limping her way over to him and hugging him tight. "I should kill you, you fucking idiot!" She sobbed, pulling him into her chest.
Zuko huffed out a laugh, wrapping his arms around her. He took deep breaths, calming his nerves from his near death experience; he focused on the feeling of her hand carding through his hair to grip it tight, and the hold on his shoulders. As he calms down, he remembers that he told her to stay put; and he sharply pulls away.
"I told you to stay at camp!" He huffed, "I told you I was coming back for you!”
She scoffs pushing on his forehead with two fingers. “In case you have forgotten, Zuko, I have authority issues. If I weren’t here, who would be saving your stupid royal ass? No one! You’re welcome, by the way. He wasn’t going to negotiate, Prince Pouty, and you and everyone else here is no good to the world dead.”
“You—You---You could’ve been hurt! (Y/N)! Or worse!” His protest was a whisper, trying to make the scene more private as he’s aware of the crowd around them.
“Zuko, love, I can handle myself. I’m a master at my craft--.”
"—your craft of carelessness, you could've been killed—"
"—but I wasn't Zuko!"
"That's not the point." His voice stern, making it clear that the conversation was done for now. (Y/N) simply nodded, pulling away from him and fixing her clothes.
Aang, Toph, Katara and Sokka watched the two as they argued; watching as they continuously tried to out-care the other. They watched as the two eventually stopped arguing, instead remained staring, as if daring each other to speak
“That was a ... nice shot? I guess?" Aang spoke, clearing his throat and drawing the couples attention to him. "He's definitely you know, dead."
(Y/N) smiles at the boy. “Thank you, Avatar, for helping save this dumb ass from falling off a cliff.” She gets up and bows to him. Zuko suddenly picks her up, the world turning sideways as he put her bridal style in his arms.
“Stop putting weight on your ankle!”
“I’m literally showing respect to the person who just helped you, is that a crime?”
“What if you break your ankle so much that you have to cut it off.”
“Oh, now you’re just being ridiculous.”
“Okay well you were first when deciding to sit on the edge of a cliff with a broken ankle.”
“You’re right! Sitting is dangerous. Next time, I’ll make sure to stand so at least I’ll have a better chance of reacting if the cliff side starts falling from under me. Oh wait, you were standing, and you still fell.”
Zuko sets her down on a broken rock that’s suitable enough for her to sit on. “Will you just shut up already and let me help you.” He reaches for her ankle, but she moves it from his grasp. Their eyes meet again and narrow in competition.
A mess of limbs as the (Y/N) evades the grip of Zuko, occasionally slapping his hands away if they get too close.
Sokka tilts his head in confusion and opens his mouth. “Is he—is he actually caring for someone?”
Aang nods. “I think? I don’t know, they’re kind of fighting a lot.”
Toph cringes, “Guys, I think it was me who hurt her in the first place. Last night at their camp. Zuko instantly stopped trying to help me when I heard her scream.”
“Guys… I think I’m supposed to let him be my master. I mean, he did just risk everything to save us.” Aang says, eyes locked on the one member who he cares more about than anyone.
Katara, still holding off on agreeing, looks to the two Fire Nation kids again.
“Ow! You bit me! Are you crazy?!” Zuko yells, shaking his left hand out.
The stranger girl laughs cheerfully. “Only crazy for you, stupid.”
And a phenomenon occurs. Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation blushes and looks down at the ground, a huge smile on his face.
“I hate you.” Is all he says.
“Yeah, I love you too.”
Katara, seeing the humane side of the prince, finally lets her guard down and walks over to them. Zuko’s eyes widen at her proximity, but the water tribe girl holds his gaze.
“I’ll heal the girl if it gets you two to shut up. And you have to find dinner for tonight.”
Katara’s eyes widen again at the sight of the crying prince who suddenly bows to her feet, thanking her with his whole heart. He then turns to his smiling girl beside him and pulls her into a hug.
“Thank you, (Y/N). For everything.”
“I’ll always help you… stupid.”

Code Red! Code Red!’
The red lights and alarm sounded throughout the building.
‘Level 10 monster detected.’
Y/N Y/L/N made her way through the hall towards the locker rooms to suit up. As usual, she was part of the ground team, which did all the messy work when hunting monsters for Hunter Corp.
Marching down the hallway, she made her way to the briefing room, grabbing the folder handed to her and reading it right away.
“Think this is the one?” Benny asked, standing by her with his folder.
Y/N shrugged her shoulders, “don’t know. Maybe it is. But according to the data recon has gathered, not likely. If it’s a level ten, then--”
“It’s most likely an Alpha monster,” Ketch interrupted. “Y/N, darling, when are you going to take me up on that offer to wine and dine you?” he asked, trying to flirt with the huntress.
“When hell freezes over, Arthur,” she sighed, “I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, my focus is on work, not my--”
“Libido,” Benny and Ketch echoed with matching smiles.
“We know, Cher,” Benny chuckled, “then again I did see you eyeing--”
“You say it, and I hog tie you and castrate you,” Y/N growled, “I lived on a ranch for a good amount of years while dad was taking care of a pack. Don’t think I won’t do it, Benjamin.”
Benny lifted his hands in surrender and chuckled, walking toward his seat on the conference table. Other squad leaders filtered in as they were ready to talk about the Level 10 monster that had appeared. This included the two sons of the CEO, the eldest of the two, Dean, taking a seat next to Y/N.
“Units 1 and 2, you will take the lead on this, “ John Winchester said as he walked into the room, taking a seat at the head of the table. “These two units will oversee operations and capture. I will repeat that,” he said, looking at each unit leader in turn, “capture the target. Our goal is to learn as much as we can before eradicating their species.”
“Do we have the special equipment that I had made for occasions like this?” Y/N asked as she flipped through the different pages, analyzing the data collected. “Do we also know what kind of Alpha we’re dealing with?”
“As of right now, we just know it’s an Alpha. I’m waiting on relay team Gamma to get back with the complete analysis,” John announced, impressed with his top hunter. “But I do want my best teams there in case something goes wrong.”
Y/N simply hummed as she let her mind process the strategy the boss set up. Her boss wasn’t wrong. Her squad, along with Snob, as she liked to call Dean, would be a formidable force. That is if he wasn’t trying to talk about his exploits on a private jet.
No matter where they were, he always had some way of interjecting how nice it is to have money and experience things. Y/N has never had the pleasure of doing. Sure she had the money to do those things now, but she never saw the big deal. It only spurred her annoyance at Snob when he would try to make conversation with her. They had nothing in common, yet he continued to try to talk to her while she ignored him.
After the meeting ended, Y/N made her way back to her room. She was the only one of the squad leaders not to have a place of her own. It was something that didn’t go unnoticed by the other leaders, especially John. Y/N would brush off the comments of her not having a place to unwind away from work. In all honesty, she didn’t know what else to do. She grew up hunting, and she figured living in the facility would give her faster reaction time to save more lives.
As she packed her things, she could feel a pair of eyes on her.
“What do you want?” she called out, never facing the person who stood at her doorway.
“I was wondering--”
“No, Dean. I will not go to whatever fancy place you want to take me to,” she sighed, moving around her room to collect what she would think she would need.
“I’m not, Ketch,” Dean grumbled, “And I know for a fact that you barely leave the compound. You don’t even have your own place.”
“Why do you care, Snob,” she hissed at him. “To someone like you, I’m just a worker. Why do you care that I live in the compound?”
“If this is about the gala, I already apologized,” Dean whined, “What more do you want from me?”
“To let me do my job,” Y/N huffed, slinging her bag over her shoulder and pushing past him, “and right now, my job is to make sure we know what we are dealing with before we go in blind and kill good hunters on a hunch.”
“The recon team--”
“Has been wrong before,” she pointed out, “Your brother has been wrong before and at my expense!”
“Samuel would never-” Dean began.
“He has, and he did, Dean,” she argued. “That scar on my back was not because I thought it would be fun to ignore that there was another Rugaru.”
She glared at him, “It was because I was told by your brother that there was only one when there were, in fact, three of them.”
Dean stayed silent as she walked away from him and towards the garage. Never in his life had a woman angered and enamored him before. The minute he had laid eyes on Y/N three years ago at the gala, he could feel his heart pound in his chest. His insecurities had gotten the better of him, and he had to play the millionaire asshole. When she didn’t bow down to his charm, he was intrigued.
After a year of training, moving up the ranks, and being her partner, Dean learned that Y/N was all business. Not like any of the girls he ever dated or bedded. Y/N had a drive, but what it was, she wouldn’t say. Y/N began to distance herself more from him for every case they had, only communicating if it had to do with the hunt and to turn down his invitations.
Dean made it to his dorm with a deep sigh and began packing his things, hoping he could try to break through the walls Y/N built with this hunt.
Tumblr media
Looking at her watch, Y/N wondered where Charlie was? Usually, Charlie would be her research partner on cases like these. Well, Charlie is always her choice as a research partner. The woman was a genius when it came to technology and making her way into security footage to search for monsters.
Y/N didn’t notice as Charlie walked up behind her. Most of Y/N’s attention was on the recon folder. She was trying to assess what the team had found.
“You know,” Charlie said as she approached Y/N, “You’re really taking this not thinking with your libido thing a bit too far.”
“I am focused on my work,” Y/N replied, never taking her eyes off the file. “I have a feeling we’re dealing with a Shifter-Alpha.”
“What gives you that idea?” Charlie asked as she sat down next to Y/N.
“It’s the fact that in every house reported, Mom and Dad are dead,” Y/N pointed out as she pushed the folder towards Charlie. “But the baby goes missing,” she pointed to the details in every story.
“Huh,” Charlie let out, tilting her head to the side as she looked over the notes, “I guess that means we’re heading out early?”
“No,” Y/N sighed, “going to talk to John first.”
“Really?” Charlie gasped, “you’re usually gung-ho about going when you have a hunch like this?”
“Okay, I’m a hunter, not suicidal,” Y/N drawled.
It didn’t take long for Y/N to point out the details in the story and voice her suspicions to John. Of course, when John agreed with her suspicions, he organized all quad leaders and put his plan in motion. Nearing the next house that Alpha would attack, Dean and Y/N placed themselves in charge of moving in to capture the monster.
‘Leader 1,’ came Dean’s voice through the walkie-talkie, ‘we have movement inside the house. I repeat, we have movement inside the house.’
“Copy that, Leader 2,” she responded before taking a breath, “Red-Recon, Red-Recon, what do we have on the video feed?”
‘Can’t I have a cooler nickname?’ Charlie whined through the intercom, ‘like Red Hawk!’
Y/N rolled her eyes, letting out a chuckle before responding, “Okay, Red Hawk, can you just tell me what the video feed shows?”
‘You were right, Leader 1,’ Charlie confirmed, ‘glowing eyes in the feed. We’re dealing with a nest of shifters. We also are seeing a large nursery through the micro-cam footage.’
“Shit,” Y/N cursed, “we might need to abort and come up with--”
‘You are going to do nothing of the sort, Leader 1,’ Samuel’s voice came through, ‘we’re here to do a job. We will kill every last one of them if we have to.’
“Samuel, there are kids in there. No matter what the species, kids are kids!” Y/N argued.
‘That’s Recon-Leader to you, Leader 1,’ he barked.
‘Recon-leader,’ Dean’s voice came through, ‘I agree with Leader 1. We are only here for the Alpha. We need this to be a quick and clean operation.’
“I don’t need your help, Leader 2,” Y/N growled. “If Recon-Leader wants us to go through the paperwork explaining why the squads changed Leader Prime’s plan, he can do it himself.”
‘What are we going to do, Leaders 1 and 2?’
Y/N closed her eyes, knowing full well the consequences of her actions, “we are going to go as planned, capture the Alpha, take down as many shifters as you can.”
‘Y/N,’ Dean called over the com, ‘I think your instincts were--’
“I’ll deal with the fucking consequences,” she called back, “we move on my mark.”
To say the operation was easy was a big fat fucking lie. Just as Y/N predicted, getting to the Alpha with all the other Shifters in their way was a challenge. So much so that they had to call Squads 3 and 4 for backup. It took longer than it should have for the team to capture the Alpha, and that was after Y/N was full of bruises and deep scratches. The nursery with the children was empty when they searched it. Some Shifters made it out with the abrupt change in plans, while others were killed trying to let them escape.
Once Y/N was patched up, she prepared herself for the yelling she knew John would give her. Even if they got the Alpha, the method they used almost cost the lives of good hunters. Y/N had made sure to try and save as many hunters from death as she could.
“Y/N!” she heard as she walked out of the medical tent.
Rolling her eyes, she turned away from Dean, who was jogging towards her.
“Thanks, Jess,” she called to the doctor on staff that stitched her up.
“Damn it, Y/N. Please wait!” Dean called out to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. “I talked to Samuel and--”
“Save it, Snob,” Y/N growled. “I am going to head to my room in the hotel and write up the report. Don’t worry about Douchebag. I will take all the heat on this.”
“Why do you do that?” Dean growled, “Why can’t you let me tell Dad about--”
“Leader Prime,” Y/N barked, “when we are on the job, you address him by his title.”
Dean let out an audible groan, “can you take the stick out of your ass for just one fucking minute!”
Y/N turned to glare at him, “what could you possibly say to me? That you’re going to use your privilege to get Daddy not to punish me because your brother was being an ass? Please spare me. I’m used to this. You and Samuel get away with everything while the rest of us have to struggle!”
“You are such a bitch, Y/L/N. No wonder people don’t want to hang around you,” Dean spat, his eyes widening at the realization of what he said. “Y/N I’m--”
“At least people don’t hang around me for my money,” she spat, “leave me alone. Why are you even talking to me, Snob? We have nothing in common, you live in an ivory tower, and I live in the mud. You stay with your people, and I’ll stay with mine.”
Dean watched her walk away, unsure what to say or how to fix what he did. He hated himself for the way things went down. Dean should have talked to Samuel about his behavior, but Samuel was just as stubborn and headstrong as their father. Dean knew he could only do one thing, and that was talking to his father about what happened, whether Y/N liked it or not.
Tumblr media
Dean stayed silent as he contemplated how to fix things with Y/N.ht--’
“I don’t care what Samuel says. The operation could have gone smoother if he had just listened to Y/N. You can’t fire her--”
‘Calm down, son. No one is getting fired. Especially not my best hunter,’ John interrupted. ‘Now, calmly, tell me what happened.’
Dean began at the beginning, telling his father all about how there were more Shifters than just the Alpha and how Y/N wanted to re-adjust the plan to lessen any casualties. As Dean continued to recount the tale, he never noticed Samuel walking in. The younger brother crossed his arms, scowling at his older brother.
“Yes, sir,” Dean said before hanging up the phone.
“You called, Dad?” Samuel let out, making Dean jump.
“Don’t sneak up on me like that, Samuel,” He scolded.
“Don’t, Dean,” Samuel huffed, “You called to tattle on me? You know as well as I do that you should be Leader 1 no matter what a stupid test said all those years ago.”
“Is that what this is about? Is that why you have this grudge against Y/N?” Dean asked, raising an eyebrow at his brother.
“She is nothing but a--”
“Don’t say it, Samuel,” Dean growled.
“A second-rate hunter with no class,” Samuel continued, towering over his older brother. “You need to forget about her, Dean, and learn to take her position from her.” he let out a huff, “besides, she dresses in nothing but second-hand clothing. Does she even know what designer clothing is? Does she even care about the clothes that she wears and how she presents herself?”
“Samuel, her choice in clothing doesn’t mean she is incapable of being a good Leader. Besides, what she wears is her business. And what good would taking the position from her by force do? How would being Leader 1 make me any more capable of running the company?” Dean crossed his arms, staring right into his brother’s eyes.
“For one, it would show Dad that you have the skills to lead,” Samuel huffed. “Y/N couldn’t even stand up to me after what I said. She could have tried harder to go over my head. She has no leadership skills.”
“No leadership skills?” Dean said, his voice rising in anger. “You call putting her life on the line to make sure no one dies, poor leadership skills?” Dean shook his head, giving his brother a disappointed look. “Do you realize that she didn’t go over your head because she feels you would use nepotism to get away with it?”
Samuel tilted his head in confusion, “what? Since when? I--”
“Dad spoils us, Samuel. You know he does, but it’s different in hunting and our lives, and Y/N doesn’t know that. She already thinks we’re pompous snobs.”
“So?” Samuel chuckled, “I love that we live a life of luxury. Someone like her is never going to understand us. Besides, why are you trying to get her approval?”
“I am not looking for her approval, but I am trying to establish a civil working relationship,” Dean said, turning away from Samuel.
“You had had eyes on her since the ball all those years ago,” Samuel chuckled, “‘if you want her that badly, woo her and leave her. Or you could take Bela Talbot on her offer.”
“Bela?” Dean shook his head in disgust, “she is nothing but a low-grade black market dealer. “
“One who has had her eyes on you for a while,” Samuel said, smiling slyly at his brother. “You don’t have to make a business deal with the woman, just bed her and be done with her. She also knows her way around good scotch. Let’s not forget that Bela also has better fashion sense than Y/N. ”
Dean contemplated the thought of having Bela in his bed. Bela had more than shown she wanted to lay with him, wanting to have Dean pleasure her in the ways he was taught. Shaking his head, Dean sat on the couch of the double room suite he shared with Samuel.
“I’d rather fuck a porcupine than Bela, Samuel,” Dean sighed, leaning back to place his hands over his face.
“Then at least go find a sweet lounge fly and bring her up to have your way with her,” Samuel said as he walked over to his bedroom, “I mean, we should put the skills Dad had us learn for a reason, right?”
Dean stayed silent as he contemplated how to fix things with Y/N.

MHA/BNHA: They get severely injured and you heal them
You're recovery Girl's granddaughter you have a healing quirk called Angel's Glow, which requires skin on skin contact to work, small wounds, bruises and bone fractures are healed in seconds just by placing your hands on the injured area which will glow blue and repair damage, however wounds that are near fatal are different story. In that case, it’s kind of embarrassing, but you treat it how you would hypothermia, stripping down to your panties (or naked) and lay down holding that person close letting your healing aura cover them, of course you've never been in a situation where you've had to do that, pretty much keeping it reserved for your romantic partner, So when you got a call that your boyfriend was severely injured in a fight and his chances of survival aren't looking to good.

Fatgum/Taishiro:
Reader's age 26.
The last thing Taishiro remembered was fighting this crazy strong villain with an equally strong quirk! So, one can imagine his confusion when the last thing he remembered before blacking out; was fighting as Fatgum and then waking up after who knows how long as Fitgum and in a stranger's bedroom hooked up to a very annoying heart monitor that would not. stop. beeping! Taishiro slowly sat up; with a grimace expecting to feel pain shooting all throughout his body the second he moved, but to his astonishment nothing happened...
He was sure his left leg was broken during that fight! he cautiously wiggled his toes and jerk his left leg around, nothing no pain... in fact he felt great; giddy like he had just eaten an entire buffet of his favorite foods! But how did... His train thought was cut short when he felt an slender arm around his waist.
Taishiro suddenly became hyperaware of the other person, a woman. laying in the bed next to him! His heartrate spiked causing the monitor to start beeping rapidly!
The blond carefully reached over and gently pushed the woman's hair away from her face, the BMI hero felt a wave of relief wash over him upon seeing the calm sleeping face of his girlfriend Y/n starring back at him. But the relief quickly shifted to befuddlement, why was she here? he then noticed their apparent lack clothes, His yellow eyes widened and felt his face burn; Taishiro swallowed hard as he checked under blanket... why were they just wearing boxers and panties?
Spotting a some of his spare clothes in Y/n's closet, Taishiro quietly and carefully got out of the bed; unplugged the Heart monitor before taking it off, and got dressed in his track pants and T-shirt, then careful got Y/n dressed in one of his hoodies before tucking her into bed, Just as Recovery-Girl popped her head in to check on them as she couldn't hear the monitor beeping anymore, and got worried she smiled seeing her *hopefully* soon to-be Grandson-law alive and healthy.
"Oh thank goodness you're awake..."
"Yeah, I jus' woke up. Sorry for intruddin."
"It's nothing to be sorry for, though I'm sure you're confused how you aren't in a coma or dead."
"...What happened to me?"
Recovery-girl gave him the run down after he was put out of commission, Taishiro was in pretty bad shape, the out come was looking grim when Y/n ordered the ambulance be redirected to her private-practice which also doubled as her home, they got got one of her intern's to use their quirk which could burn off his fat, they cleaned his cuts and got him stitched up then the y/ht woman told everyone to go home; save for her grandmother and Kirishima who refused to leave his mentor until he was sure hew was going to be alright.
it was only when he saw Y/n taking her clothes off did the flustered teen ask about those guest rooms, she offered and recovery- Girl lead him out of the room, the y/ht woman slipped into bed next her her unconscious lover and activated her quirk, Tai's whole body was soon surrounded in veil of blue light that slowly started to repair and heal his broken body.
Taishiro smiled gently as he caressed Y/n's cheek making her wince in her sleep. "The poor thing must be exhausted over using her quirk for two days." the pride the tall man had felt to shifted into concern. "two days?!" he croaked he remembered Y/n telling him that her quirk can also transfer her patients pain onto her to the lessen their burdens, and if he was in really bad shape as recovery-girl described... "Is she gonna be okay?" he asked voice cracking, the old nurse frowned knowing that her granddaughter told him about her quirks pain absobtion. "Well, the next couple days won't be very pleasant for her, I may have to keep her sedated." the blond eyes started to burn as he watched Y/n sleeping soundly, vowing stay by her side and to take her on very nice vacation when this was all over, they could both use it.

Shoto Todoroki:
Reader age 21, Shoto: 19
This poor touch-starved child was so confused and flustered when he woke up in a strange bed, wearing nothing but his boxers and y/n clinging to him very intimately, all while alarm-bells were going off in his head as part on his mind was still in fight or flight mode as he cautiously scanned his girlfriend expecting this to be a dream, and the villain that attacked him to pop-out at any moment...
After a few moments of waiting for the dream to end, Shoto cautiously used his fire to burn himself he winced feeling the pain burn his wrist, then the pain went numb the bi-colored haired man's brows furrowed before seeing the familiar blue aura from [y/wt] woman's quirk reverse the damage on his wrist, Shoto's stomach churred as realized what she had done, he carefully removed himself from the warm embrace of her bed and looked around the room for something to wear before spotting some a pair of sweat pants and a T-shirt left out for him, he changed then carefully got his girlfriend dressed into her PJs and her tucked in.
Shoto was the picture of calm as he kept a silent vigil over the [y/hc] woman carefully playing with her hair, but internally he was freaking out! Wondering how long had he been out for? and how long had Y/n been healing him? was she going to be okay?! he grimaced at he saw her wince in her sleep; even a blind man could see she was already suffering from the effects of over using her quirk! "Why would you do something so foolish?" he sighed using his cold half to keep Y/n's forehead cool he felt her temperature spike. "Love makes you do very rash decisions." Shoto jumped to see Recovery-Girl behind him and the dual quirked boy immediate bowed his head to her in forgiveness.
"Don't do that Todoroki, you don't need to apologize."
"But because me Y/n is..."
"It's not you're fault dear, Y/n knew the risks as soon as she heard you were in critical condition."
"How long were we like that?" he asked asked dreading the answer Recovery-Girl frowned as she checked her granddaughter's vitals over. "Four days, I won't lie the next couple days won't be kind to my Granddaughter." She saw Shoto wince knowing the guilt eating at him. "But knowing she has a handsome young man looking after her, should help her make a speedy recovery.~" the room's temperature suddenly spikes as a blush adorned Shoto's cheeks Recovery-Girl giggled jubilantly as she left the room leaving Y/n in Shoto's care.

Touya/Dabi:
Reader age 25 (note you're quirk can't heal his scars (you've tried) you were childhood friends with him, he kidnapped you and keeps you in his safehouse!)
Dabi woke up that morning with a splitting headache, crap how much did he have to drink? he growled taking a sharp breath as his eyes adjusted to his dimly lit bedroom, trying to piece together what happened last night, when he caught something blue in the dim light at first he thought it was his quirk acting up, but then he noticed some of his staples were missing around his stomach...
The it all came flooding back to him one of the Nomus had gotten lose before it could be "trained" and went on a rampage the villains and a couple heroes on the league payroll stropped it, but not without consequences, the beast managed to take a bite out of Dabi's waist, the scarred man somehow managed to make it home... walking through the front door was the last thing he remembered before blacking out, then he felt his stomach drop when he realized that this blue glow wasn't his flames!
Dabi quickly turned the light on above his bed and found a sleeping Y/n hugging his waist her quirk overworking itself trying to fix his scars, which weren't healing because the tissue was to damaged to fix, "You idiot!" he barked getting out of bed, then paused when he felt a rush cold air on his everything, his teal eyes looked down... Yep, naked as the day he was born, he cussed and checked under the thin sheet Y/n had covered them in, same story.
He check her temperature she was freezing!  "Tch" Dabi quickly readjusted the sheet around his girlfriend's shivering body then went and put on some black sweat pants, he quickly went to drawers and grabbed a pair of boxers and a t-shirt and put those on his y/ht girlfriend, then grabbed the discarded blanket from off the floor covering the couple.
Dabi used his quirk to boost up his body temp while rubbing Y/n’s arms trying warm her up. the last thing he needed was her getting sick, however he paused his ministrations and checked his burner phone... shit it been 2 days since the incident! He had a lot of messages from the league demanding to know where he was, He should probably get around to telling them he's alive... meh, maybe after Y/n recovered those f-ckers will live.

A sweet scent
This time is Kocho who gives them specific instructions to get to the next location. At first Tanjirou thinks this is another mission (poor Zenitsu is already shivering at the possibility) but then the insect hashira tells them the place is an onsen.
"Is a demon there?" Tanjirou asks, narrowing his eyes in confusion. Why would a demon end up in a place like that?
However, Kocho chuckles as she shakes her head.
"No. I just think you deserve to take a break for once," she tells them, to Zenitsu's relief and Inosuke's irritation. "That place is beautiful, perfect to relax. Also, it's owned by a wisteria family so they'll let you stay for a couple of days for free."
"Thank you, Kocho-san!" Tanjirou bows, instructing Zenitsu and Inosuke to do exactly the same.
"Also, there's a surprise for you there!" Kocho winks at Tanjirou, making him look back in confusion. "Well... Maybe you'll be the surprise."
Feeling even more puzzled now, Tanjirou decides not to ask and secures the wooden box on his back before saying goodbye.
***
The woman that greets them at the entrance recognizes their uniforms immediately and leads them inside. Tanjirou feels overwhelmed by the soft purple light that comes from the wisteria trees. He lets himself relax as he puts the wooden box in one of the rooms.
"You can take a bath while I make something to eat," a man offers them. "One of your fellow slayers is already there."
Tanjirou wonders if he knows them or not as he decides to leave Nezuko in her box. It has an outdoor bathing facility and it's early so she'll be safer inside.
When the three of them arrive however, towels wrapped around their waists, Tanjirou grins from ear to ear as he recognizes that long, black hair.
"Tomioka-san!"
He's already inside so the only thing Tanjirou can see is his face and his shoulders as he suddenly snaps his head in his direction.
"Tanjirou!" Tomioka utters, eyes opening wide; it's honestly refreshing to see any kind of emotion on his face, even if it's just surprise.
Behind him, Zenitsu bows at the water hashira before being pushed into the water by Inosuke; they both start arguing quickly.
Tanjirou can hear the splashes as he takes off his towel slowly and gets inside while he apologizes on behalf of them to the Pillar.
However, Tomioka looks away from him so quickly, that Tanjirou worries for a moment he might have hurt his neck by doing so. His cheeks are slightly pink, but that must be because the water is hot.
As Tanjirou approaches, he notices how Tomioka's shoulders lose tension until he looks back at him again. Perhaps he gets even closer than he should, but Tomioka smells so sweet at the moment that Tanjirou can't help himself. He knows the scent is caused by an emotion, but Tanjirou can't figure out which one is at the moment.
Maybe it doesn't matter.
"I heard you were hurt during your last mission," Tomioka mumbles suddenly, eyes roaming all over Tanjirou's face and shoulders as if looking for injuries. "I went to see you but you were unconscious at the moment. I... couldn't stay because I received an urgent message."
He takes a deep breath, looking almost in pain, for moment Tanjirou wonders if he got hurt too. However, he keeps talking.
"I wrote to Shinobu later and although she told me you were doing alright you were not ready to receive visitors yet and insisted I should wait here while you recovered."
It takes Tanjirou a couple of seconds to realize that the water hashira is almost... apologizing for not being there when he woke up.
It's the most he's heard him talk in a while and for some reason it melts his heart.
"I'm fine!" Tanjirou assures him, showing him the scar on his arm. "See, just a scratch!"
Without fully realizing what he's doing, Tomioka takes Tanjirou's arm with one hand and traces the scar with his fingers.
"I should've been there," the water hashira mumbles, frowning. It looks like he's talking (scolding) himself.
The sweet scent becomes stronger and Tanjirou thinks for a moment that it could be the smell of concern, but that doesn't make much sense. He's smelt concern and worry on many people before and it's definitely not sweet.
"Well... I'm fine now and that's all that matters, right?" Tanjirou tries to cheer him up.
Tomioka looks up at him and smiles back; it's a very soft expression, his ocean blue eyes are glimmering like they can't quite hide the storm of emotions inside.
"Yes, that's all that matters."
The way he says it makes Tanjirou's heart jump in a funny way inside his chest, however, Inosuke and Zenitsu's water battle is enough to distract him.
"Please, could you calm down for a couple of seconds? Tomioka-san is here and–"
It looks like they're not even paying attention to him, but suddenly, a glare from the water hashira is all that it takes for them to stop. Even Inosuke respects Tomioka (the Pillar tied him up to a tree once after all).
Finally, Tanjirou enjoys a little bit of peace for once. He turns around, only to realize that Tomioka has been staring at him with a fond expression this whole time.
It makes him feel flustered for a moment. But he relaxes as soon as he starts telling the water hashira everything that happened during his mission.
***
Before joining everyone for lunch, Tanjirou checks on Nezuko again. Fortunately, she's still peacefully asleep in her box so he decides not disturb her.
When he comes back to kneel in front of the table, Tomioka sits right next to him, perhaps closer than usual but Tanjirou doesn't mind. His sweet scent along with the smell of clean, dry clothes makes Tanjirou feel like he's home and nothing bad can happen.
As usual, Inosuke tries to steal some of Tanjirou's food, but he freezes when Tomioka clears his throat and glares at him.
Tanjirou tries not to find it funny, but he chuckles anyway, not noticing the way Tomioka smiles back at him. Zenitsu does though, but he just rolls his eyes at them both.
When they finish and Zenitsu offers to see how Nezuko is doing, Tanjirou gets startled by the feeling of rough fingers encircling his wrist; the touch is very gentle though.
"Can I talk to you for a moment?"
"Of course, Tomioka-san!"
Thinking that it's about training, Tanjirou is a little bit surprised when Tomioka leads him outside and doesn't let go of his hand even after they sit on the ground. The wisteria tree is right above them, lighting everything with blues and purples.
For the first time since he met him, the Pillar looks nervous. He even rubs the back of his own neck, cheeks turning pink as he looks down at Tanjirou.
"I've been thinking... After you finish your training with the other Pillars, would you like to come with me to the water estate?"
"I'd love to! I have always wanted to visit!" Tanjirou says, excited.
Tomioka shakes his head though, the blush spreads down his neck.
"I didn't mean to visit. I meant... to live in. With me. As my... partner."
Partner? The word is not unfamiliar to him, but he doesn't understand what Tomioka is trying to say with it.
"Like an apprentice?"
The water hashira pinches the bridge of his nose, he looks frustrated but somehow amused at the same time.
"More like a husband."
A gasp escapes from his lips as Tanjirou looks up. His face is burning and his heart is pretty much trying to get out of his chest. Suddenly the sweet scent coming from Tomioka makes so much sense now.
It's love, isn't it?
The silence must have lasted more than a couple of minutes because Tomioka's expression turns into sorrow.
"It's alright if you don't feel the same... We can forget I said anything, I–"
Tanjirou kisses him on the lips, it's barely a peck, but it manages to get the message across, judging by the surprise written all over the Pillar's face.
Slowly, Tomioka's lips quirk up into a hopeful smile, his eyes are glimmering.
"Was that a yes?"
Tanjirou nods, chuckling happily before being pulled into a warm embrace. Soft lips kiss his forehead as Tanjirou sighs, content.
