"cool." you simply say as your fingers start to thread along his strands as you do your magic. you've never met this iruma person but you really owe it to him for unconciously letting you do fun things to your brother. it confuses you a little because alice's and clara's perceptions of iruma are two worlds apart. you suppose this iruma is just too much of a complex character it seems.

you say nothing after that, basking in the silence as your brother continues his reading. you recognize the title of the book. of course, he would study that. you recall clara calling iruma the dumbest demon she ever met while complimenting his knowledge on the mythical zoology in the same sentence.

alice had always pride himself in his high social status and cold demeanor. yet now here he is sitting, few chapters into the book in the late evenings just because his friend likes it. and here he is with a badly drawn portrait of himself hung on his walls, the familiar signature from a certain green-haired in the corner of the paper.

"y/n," he suddenly calls out. "i'll do yours too."

These scenarios ended up being very short, but I tried something different with the format.

Lucifer would definitely play some records as he talks you through breathing correctly. He will be kneeling down in front of you as he gently wipes the tears from your eyes. If you didn’t have the ‘talk’ yet, he figures now would be the time to tell you. You are in the Devildom surrounded by demons, after all.

He would make you a meal or bring some snacks to prepare for a very uncomfortable conversation between the two of you. He will answer any questions you may have, and will tell you that you are not at the age to do anything like that yet.

Mammon feels so bad for you. Your innocent mind has been corrupted. All his efforts in preserving it were ruined. He will dry any tears running down your face and he will hand you a box of tissues. He will place you on his bed as he pulls up a chair next to you.

If you have any questions, older brother Mammon will be there to answer them. Sure, it’s a bit uncomfortable for him, but he’d rather tell you than you finding out personally. If you don’t want to talk about it, he will offer to take you on a drive to get your mind off of that situation. You both could even stop somewhere and get some food!

Leviathan feels traumatized for you. He doesn’t really know how to comfort you, so he puts his headphones over your ears and puts on an anime to distract you. He will even give you limited-time access to his secret stash of snacks.

He doesn’t know what it’s like to walk in on your parents ‘wrestling’ (Levi, you don’t have parents), so he doesn’t know how to handle this situation. In his mind, he is in full panic mode. However, when he sees you drifting off to sleep, he lets out a sigh of relief.

Satan will ask if you wanted to talk about it or if you wanted to be distracted from it. If you choose the former option, he will have you sit on his bed as he sits himself in his armchair as you both discuss the birds and the bees.

If you choose the latter option, he will have you lay down on his bed as he uses a gentle voice to read to you. You have recently been making your way through Alice Through the Looking Glass (a classic, in my opinion), so Satan will take you on a journey through Wonderland to take your mind off of what just happened.

Asmodeus feels sorry for you. No child should have to go through that, so he will wipe the tears from your eyes and pull you into his arms. He may be the Avatar of Lust, but even he draws the line somewhere. Your parents should have waited until you were out of the house.

He will sit you down in the chair in front of his vanity as he does your makeup over again. You are free to ask him any questions, but he won’t complain if you’d rather not talk about it. As long as you feel alright after a bit, he doesn’t care.

Beelzebub is totally disgusted at your parents. The audacity they have to not make sure you were out of the house before they got down and dirty. He will take you to his and Belphie’s room to comfort you and give you a ton of snacks.

If you want to talk about it, he is all ears. He will answer the questions you have to the best of his ability, but it will be kind of awkward. If you want to just forget about it, he doesn’t blame you. He will just bring you to the kitchen where you can both distract each other while making food.

Belphegor is also really disgusted at your parents. Sure, he killed you before, but you were alright in the end. This kind of thing leaves scars of trauma in one’s mind. He will gently wipe your tears away as he consoles you.

He would prefer not to talk about it, and he will use his powers to get you to fall asleep. He will even influence your dream to make it really weird so that you forget the entire ordeal with your parents. If you remember a dream where you saw a bunch of flamingos getting sturdy, no you don’t.

My brain got. ABSOLUTELY INSANE over @anxious-twisted-vampire Headmaster Sakamaki au and then i remember me and @adrianasunderworld running gag the nbc transfer be the grandson of Asmodeus Alice/Obey me. So my brain creates this scenario and believe me. The guy carefully planned an equal hell. And protecting his new friends and freedom by summoning his guardian and sparing the man of honor for the grand finale.

Asmodeus was a unique student. He sought Night Raven College to be his haven. To be free, not to be like the exact image of Noble Bell College. Those few months were as of bliss and humanity to him. But it all fell when those wretched men came. Ruining his paradise, threatening his family, and all it came to a decision he must make. He stole the men blood carefully. Created circles in his room, all aligned and in order of the avatar of sins to call. But, he was not just calling onto them. He brought the seven vials of blood to be their guide for a hunt.

“My uncle Beelzebub, leave not a trace of them behind. Not even the bones. I don’t want to remember their existence.

“My uncle Satan, fight this boy until there is nothing left of him.”

“My uncle Belphegor, put this man into an eternal slumber. One he will never awaken.”

He pause, and breathe calmly as he smiled to his plan. Asking his grandfather this favor.

“My dear grandfather Asmodeus Alice, take this man and steal his heart. It is not pure.”

All this. And he made a bigger circle. As he spilled Karlheinz onto it. And smirk. “And I…… shall steal this man life….. he tortured our friends and family. I announce a family hunt. What do you say my dear family?”

The circles echo a laugh, as colors smoked out and reveal the nature of the avatars. The game is set. These men will follow the ends of the earth until the curse is over. Then it’s back to normal. It’s funny. Not one soul beside Asmodeus friends and the prefects knew the boy real family. Is full of surprises that yet to come.

So I’m still out ahead of the TNT loop, but I think 13.08 aired today for everyone still chained to the broadcast schedule. But I want everyone to pay attention to it, and then continue thinking about it while watching 13.15.

Remember back in s13, when people were like... why do we need TWO episodes about heists like this in one season? Well, I’m gonna venture to say that these were two thematically similar episodes that escalated the concept in a very specific way. And post 14.20, they are rather instructive of the largest narrative arc-- the overarching spiral of the entire story.

I’d first venture to say that these episodes are two similar yet distinctly different genres: the Heist and the Noir. 13.08 is Oceans 11, and 14.15 is The Maltese Falcon. And we wrote loads of meta on this back during s13.

But post 14.20, both of these episodes look like the Big Picture Narrative Spiral in microcosm, at two different levels. And therein lies their fundamental similarity.

1. Sam and Dean are baited into the scenario with something they want and need:

-in 13.08 it’s the spell to locate a nephilim -in 13.15 it’s the blood of a most holy man

2. The thing they want is dangled in front of them by someone who recruits them to do a different job for them in exchange for the thing they want/need:

-in 13.08 it’s to steal a chest from a vault protected by a lock that only Dean can open because he was resurrected after serving time in Hell after making a demon deal in exchange for Sam’s life (as Shrike had done in exchange for his son) -in 13.15 it’s a larger series of machinations all going back to a stolen holy relic

3. The motives of the person sending them on this quest are hidden from them at first:

-in 13.08 they’re of course suspicious of the entire deal because Crowley-cosplaying demon wants something from them, and of course they’re wary -in 13.15, they initially have no reason to doubt Greenstreet’s offer for a trade for a specific relic that he sends them off on a wild goose chase for

4. Their quest for The MacGuffin in each of these episodes leads them to uncover layer upon layer of machinations and deceptions, and in the end the motives of the people they’re theoretically working for are finally uncovered to be personal greed:

-in 13.08, the motive was Barthamus retrieving his bones, which Shrike held hostage in exchange for the cancellation of the demon deal he’d made-- because Barthamus had failed to live up to the spirit of the bargain (i.e. Shrikes son he sold his soul for died anyway, even before the expiration of his 10 year contract, cheating him out of what he paid for, effectively) -in 13.15, it’s a bit more complicated, because Sam and Dean are drawn through this intricate web of setups needed to gather ALL of these people so their original “in” on the case could maliciously essentially have all of them murdered to secure sole claim to this holy relic-- just to be able to be the one who owns it.

5. During the course of the episode, Sam and Dean discover something about one of the people they’re working alongside has been motivated to be there against their will, or not by their own free choice:

-in 13.08 it’s Alice “Snatch”, who feels compelled to continue working for Barthamus so he won’t cash in on her demon deal that she now wishes she could take back... what’s become of her life because of that bad choice turns out not to have been worth it in the present -in 13.15 it’s Father Camilleri, who had been the entrusted keeper of the relic that Greenstreet greedily wanted for himself, which was stolen from its place of veneration by his congregation, his people who had put their faith in their sacred duty to preserve it for their entire community.

6. In the end, it comes down to a heroic act by said person, made of their own free will:

-in 13.08, it’s Alice choosing to free herself from barthamus by burning his bones -in 13.15 it’s Father Camilleri literally taking a bullet for them

7. One turns out to be a huge loss, while the other a surprising gain:

-in 13.08, Alice freeing herself from the demon inadvertently burns up the other half of the spell he’d promised to Sam and Dean, rendering their entire mission effectively pointless-- except Alice does free herself and another demon is removed from the playing field... but Sam and Dean are still left without hope on their specific mission to find Jack -in 13.15, All the Bad Guys plotting and scheming to buy/steal the relic end up either dead or likely to be imprisoned, and the relic is returned to its rightful place with Father Camilleri. It looks like Sam and Dean are at another dead end for their personal quest, but because they chose to give up their quest in order to do the right thing by Camilleri and his congregation, they learn that the man himself has been accorded the title “A Most Holy Man” by the pope himself, and readily gives them the blood they’d been seeking the entire time. Twist and Win.

One is a deal with hell, the other a deal with heaven. One ends up a loss, the other appears to be a win. But what does this win actually mean at the end of the day? What does this piece in the puzzle that will help them unlock the doorway to another world provide them?

(I was about to watch 13.16 when I stopped to type this, and it’s a beautiful little detour through Cas’s mission to secure the Fruit of the Tree of Life and his “marriage” to the queen of the djinn, and there’s our “false reality” connection as plain as they can make it, while they’re trapped in a literal cartoon for most of the episode... but I’m gonna skip the rest of these “tricks,” even including Gabriel having tricked everyone and Asmodeus having tricked them all, because that entire circle of plot burns itself down in a matter of episodes, too... although I realize I could also include 13.20 in this comparison of 13.08 and 13.15, because it also fits all of these themes aptly, from a third narrative genre-- the Revenge Quest of Kill Bill, based on spaghetti westerns and martial arts films, wherein they agree to help Gabriel get his revenge in exchange for his help opening the rift-- this is the same story over and over again, told through three different narrative lenses, each with a slightly different outcome bringing them all ever closer to what they think, what they hope is finally the outcome they wanted all along... and yet... just as they secure their ultimate win, another wrench is thrown into their plans, which brings me to...)

13.23: Everyone is saved, life begins to seem like it’s returning to normal. TFW 2.0 is happily hunting together, and even talking about being able to take time off and finally get that beach vacation. I think this is the magical phrase that summons Cosmic Wrenches. Those wrenches come flying through the rift to screw them over in the form of Lucifer and Michael. And the Narrative Loop loops again.

But after 14.20, this is exactly what Chuck has been doing to them since the start. All of it. It’s all clearly encapsulated in these episodes. Even when they believe they’re acting of their own free will, their choices and actions have very little bearing on the effectiveness of their own plans. There could never be a true win for them as long as the Cosmic Wrenches continued flying, and we learned in 14.20 that Chuck never intended to stop throwing them.

Because he’s entertained watching them scramble to catch wrenches.

So here, have the takeaway from 13.15 to sum up this futility:

Dean: What? Come on. I know that look. What's on your mind? Sam: I don't know. Nothing. I mean -- I mean, you know... You ever feel like we're -- we're doing nothing but playing defense? You know, bouncing from one apocalypse to the next? Dean: Well, it's not exactly our call. Sam: I know that, and I'm not saying we don't do good. But -- but no matter how many people we save, there will always be more people that need saving. No matter how many monsters we kill-- Dean: There's always gonna be another one around the corner. Sam: Exactly. Dean: Mm-hmm. Sam: You think we could ever change things? I mean, really change things? You know, stop all the monsters, all the bad? Dean: That would be nice. Sam: Yeah. So what are you thinkin'? Think that'll work? Dean: I have faith.

Turns out they don’t need to stop “all the monsters.” They just need to stop the one wielding all the wrenches aimed directly at them.

1) hi! do you have thoughts on Sam referring to Dean's gun as a "she" in 13x08 (which i took to mean that Dean referred to his gun as a "she" before, the way he's the one to refer to the Impala as a she and as "Baby")? it reminded me of how Suzy referred to her gun as "Gus" in 10x19. the ep reminded me of 10x19 in general, like how the Werther's Box also needed very specific blood to be unlocked, how there was missing intel/lies (like how Dean didn't know Sam was actually there for the codex)and

2) how it was about what you’re willing to sacrifice to get what you want (like how Suzy was driven to suicide by the Werther Box spell when Sam opened it). or do you think the gun thing was about something else? (i mean the beauty of it all is how there’s so much in a single ep of this show and how there’s always more than one layer to peel away, so i guess there could be lots of possible meanings). would love to hear your thoughts!

Not sure about the gun specifically - I’m not sure if we’re supposed to pick the dissonance between Sam calling the gun a she and the, um, metaphorical aspect of the scene of Dean jerking off the gun, Sam was also dressed in supposedly heterosexual colors (I say supposedly heterosexual because some very boring hetero people seem to believe they need a pride flag and have suggested a dark pink-white-bright blue flag, do not google heterosexual flag because nasty things appear in google images) and Dean in bisexual colors, but I don’t want to, you know, be that person. Oh wait, I’m that person.

Anyway, I’ve been screeching all along about the parallels between the episode and both episodes featuring Cuthbert Sinclair/Albert Magnus (plus the fact that also Arthur Ketch blatantly reminded me of him, so I have been rolling in glorious Magnus feels for a while, because I am a total sucker for anything involving witchcraft and the good ol’ narrative of hybris-filled men opposed to women witches that has been running along the seasons since the Carver era and has been brought back on the table via the Ketch vs Rowena scenario that hasn’t even started yet…).

The latest episode had more or less subtle references to the entire MoC arc and in particular to the men who manipulated, or tried to manipulate, Dean on that front. Crowley in primis, Cain, Magnus, and, well, if you count both 13x07 and 13x08 you have more or less explicit references to Rowena and Charlie and the Book of the Damned and Nadya’s codex… heck, Dean got the MoC after Kevin’s death (well, more like everything that led to Kevin’s death, i.e. the Gadreel situation, but Kevin’s death was the event that made everything explode in Dean’s face) and bam alternate reality Kevin appears.

It’s basically an inverted MoC narrative, because Dean rejects Barthamus’ seduction (as awesome and for some aspects lovely Dean and Crowley’s relationship has been, “no more Crowleys” is a good rule for Dean to give himself). The spell actually burns, despite Sam’s attempt to save it - the opposite of Sam’s scheme to make Dean believe he’d burned the Book of the Damned until Eldon Styne revealed to Dean that the book was impossible to destroy. Yes, the spell didn’t just burn because the plot required them to be unable to track down Jack yet. Things burning are always significant in the show. The spell was a parallel - by contrast - to the Book of the Damned. Hell, the spell was created because a man wanted to stalk his girlfriend! Male entitlement over women - the opposite of the Book of the Damned being written by a nun having visions of the Darkness, the opposite of the codex written by a female witch. Not a coincidence there were parallels to Paint It Black either, where the nun whose ghost was tied to the painting had turned vengeful because her lover cheated on her, and thus wanted to punish gross men.

The misogynistic spell burns, and the Charlie parallel of the episode, Alice, gets free from the man who kept her enslaved to him. Charlie died over the Book of the Damned and the decrypting of the codex.

Cuthbert Sinclair, the Stynes, the toxic side of Crowley - they burn (in fact, Barthamus symbolized them but also Luther Shrike symbolized certain aspects of Cuthbert Sinclair - who was beheaded too - and Crowley, and Cain too, Cain’s also an important element in this larger picture of men and witchcraft, the MoC was known as the first curse by witches, and blah blah). The woman able to crack the safe (parallel to the safe in 10x19 and metaphorically the content of the safe, the codex Charlie cracked) survives, unlike Suzy and Charlie in s10.

I don’t want to make a stretch but the Star, the ship Gavin was supposed to board, is also briefly referred to with feminine pronouns. Episode with Rowena and Ketch (although not together) blah blah, Shrike’s son died by drowning like Crowley’s son, right, there’s a link there, but the genderization of a gun and a ship is probably not relevant, because it’s pretty common to refer to ships as ‘she’s, so don’t really take this is me saying that’s a connection.

Alright, since we’re at this, let me add a thing.

Season 9-10 Crowley, Cain, Cuthbert Sinclair, Men of Letters, Rowena, the Book of the Damned, Nadya’s codex, Charlie, the Stynes, indirectly Kevin... many elements of the Mark of Cain storyline, right?

There’s one s9 player whose name has not come out yet, right? Abaddon. Smacked right in the narrative involving Cain, the MoC and the First Blade, and even Henry Winchester and the Men of Letters (Cuthbert Sinclair was the mentor of...). All connected but what about direct references/parallels to Abaddon herself? Well, in 9x17, the episode right after Cuthbert Sinclair’s first appearance, the episode in which Dean touches the First Blade for the first time - it is revealed she is creating more demons to increase the number of her ranks. You know who wants to create more of their species to increase the number of their ranks right now? The angels.

I might be nostalgic of season 9 and season 10, but keep an eye on those seasons peeps.

Oh, and Claire is seen holding the Grigori sword in the promo pics for 13x09, and 10x20 was smacked between The Werther Project and the Stynes episodes... just saying.

disclaimer: spoilers abound! if you have not read the magicians trilogy as well as watched the TV adaptation, do not continue.

some things i’ve wondered or thought about regarding the magicians as a whole (which i’ve been rereading and re-watching in anticipation of the second season):

regarding the show: - still bummed about the blase way they introduced and wiped out FTB. it was too important in the books to be rushed like that. - i’m still holding out hope that there’s another time loop so that they can re-do some scenarios like they happened in the book, or veer completely different (a la how she found FTB, recasting pete as pouncy silverkitten (because hello, he totally looks like the description), showing all the years of struggling to learn and mastering spells at brakebills). - will they get to why mayakovsky is significant? i feel like they did a bit of a rush job on brakebills south, which is admittedly not the most thrilling to read at first try, but it does provide an important nudge of what can be possible (in terms of magical ability, the need for discipline). they didn’t really show mayakovsky to be such an incredible magician, just a bitter old man who is a tough professor. - in a previous brainstorm* i wondered if marina would be a sort of dupe for alternate-universe-future plum. but as i was rereading book 2 i was wondering if they got the idea of her from iris, who levels julia up at murs. not necessarily a hazing ritual or seemingly benign friendship, but it reminded me of julia’s earlier days with the bodega hedges. - is quentin’s dad still alive? will he make a reappearance in coming season(s)? - a review i read regarding the first season finale was a little disappointed that it seemed like julia and martin were teaming up as big bads at the very end, since it painted a poor portrait of what happens to rape victims. while i agree that that’s not the best trope to depict, more often than not rape victims are shown as weak from the trauma (as they rightly should be from such a horrible thing). but julia isn’t a raging murderer, no matter what the show might imply from her motives. she doesn’t want to rule a world, she just wants vengeance from trauma and her slain friends.

regarding the magicians: - i don’t know who it was that had a hissyfit in the beginning when they saw the styling of TV alice. it specifically states in the first book that alice is “a small, sullen girl with straight blonde hair” and a couple of years into school “alice had acquired a pair of uncharacteristically hip rectangular glasses over the summer”. there’s canon for you whiners. - did alice’s parents know about the truth behind charlie’s “death” and just give her a white lie to not freak her out? i also wonder if anyone told them about her becoming a niffin just like her brother… - whatever happens to richard and anais? they ditch the others after getting back to earth, and quentin runs into anais, but then they’re gone again. why bother mentioning them if there’s no resurgence of their perspectives? i think richard is slightly reincarnated through the discussion and search of religion at murs, but that’s about as far as i can reach for him. what did anais provide other than another hand for a suicide mission? in a way i’m wondering if that’s what poppy’s role became (from the second and third books), because she was never one to believe in “fantasy” magic/lands, but was involved anyway.

regarding the magician king: - while kady is not strictly a character from the books, asmodeus is, and she is described as “a fast talker with a big smile and heavy v-shaped eyebrows that gave her a naughty-schoolgirl look. she had a bit of a fairuza balk thing going on. shades of the craft.��� google image search jade tailor and fairuza balk and tell me there isn’t a striking resemblance… not sure if the producers did that on purpose when casting for kady/asmo, but it was a nice thing to read and realize. - who are the other magicians at murs? julia mentions that before her, there were 9: pouncy, asmo, failstaff, gummidgy, fiberpunk, and iris, but there are still three unnamed members. were they also in FTB? in the showdown with reynard, iris is doing a three-person casting with two others, but there is no 10th person mentioned. continuity error? way to pique my curiosity with minor non-details… - there is some dire foreshadowing with the murs magicians/project ganymede - as soon as julia points out that the myths they’ve heard of with longing for apotheosis usually fail because of some greedy or prideful notion, they dismiss it as just wanting to learn more. but the day before the summoning, back on FTB, pouncy clearly states that he wants to eventually be a god, which basically leads to the prediction that it won’t end well. - i feel like julia is the survivor (and unwilling heir) of the tragedy because she knew she didn’t want divine power and just wanted to be in project ganymede to be with her friends (“she didn’t need this, and she didn’t want it. she didn’t want the goddess to come… she came to murs looking for magic, but she was also looking for a new home, and a new family, and she’d found them all, all three, and it was enough.”). i won’t ever know if that’s why, but that was a conclusion i came to.

regarding the magician’s land: - i wanted to know a bit more about the other members of the heist crew. we obviously know about quentin and get plum’s story in due time, hear a bit about stoppard’s background and come to connect the dots with betsy, but it doesn’t feel like enough. how did the crow find them? quentin and plum had letters on their bed - did that also happen to all the others, including those invited to audition? - who is the couple who stole rupert’s case? how did they come by it? - i like the consistency of asmo being the first on the offensive (like during the reynard summoning); when penny’s crew hijacked the heist crew’s attempts, asmo did offensive magic to protect their group. - i want to know how and when asmodeus found reynard. did she go through the same summoning like she did in murs? did she get assistance? did she go back to murs, and if so, what about the bodies? were they still there when julia left? i’m estimating about seven years between the events at murs and the heist (a rough estimate, as julia’s story in the second book happens during quentin’s time at brakebills in the first). - i forgot that janet specialized in cold/ice magic. it was mentioned in the first book when she’s talking about how she broke down the cottage door (and how that was record-breaking time for how fast it was). - there is a relation i never noticed between the first and third books: in the same chapter that alice is first introduced, the professor tells the tale of philosopher bertrand russell, who was questioned by someone after a lecture he gave, “who told him he was a clever young man but much mistaken in his thinking, because everyone knew that the world was flat and sat on the back of a turtle. when russell asked her what the turtle was standing on, she replied, ‘you’re very clever, young man, very clever. but it’s turtles all the way down!’” in the third book, when eliot and janet go off searching for answers after fighting the lorians, the giant turtle (after almost injuring eliot and getting frozen by janet) retorts “it’s turtles all the way down.” - later when alice describes looking at fillory from the outside, it is confirmed to be flat on top of a stack of turtles. huh. - when janet goes into her backstory (while explaining how she got her twin ice staves), it reminded me a lot of alice’s backstory before brakebills - how her parents sort of lost it when charlie died and forgot about her, and she had to find her own power and wander for a while without guidance. i think the books (and definitely the show) underplay how powerful janet is, especially considering the show’s unofficial catchphrase: “magic doesn’t come from power, it comes from pain.”

hypotheticals: - who is a bigger turd: ember or umber? - what’s worse: accidentally summoning a murderous trickster god and getting killed by him, or becoming a niffin from channeling too much power (possibly while fighting a mutant megalomaniac version of peter pan)? - could a niffin beat a god? alice was able to go back through ancient history, but she didn’t do anything aside from watching (simply because she was bored). she probably couldn’t have done anything about the past, but i wonder if she could have done in ember or umber on her own if she cared to. - in the show it’s possible to bind a niffin. they didn’t mention that in the books (because they don’t go looking for charlie in the books), but i wonder if it’s possible. probably quentin’s method of temporarily encasing alice in his cacodemon tattoo was the best possible way (considering the circumstance), but it leads me to wonder what else (mentioned in the books) could do such a thing.

people have seen how soft he became around iruma. they didn't know he could even take it a step further until he met you.

because to alice too, loving you is easy. sure, he's got much more "capable admirers" or is what others put in his mouth but they all come nothing close to you. they can imitate you all they want but they're never you.

you sigh. it's getting frustrating now. you've been trying to drop subtle hints that you've been liking your pink haired classmate for a few months now. and the said classmate is being an absolute dense fucker just because it's not related to iruma. iruma this, iruma that. you get it. he probably doesn't like you back.

but you hate doing things halfway.

when you start on a homework, you have to finish it in one sitting. when you sleep, you don't like being waken up before your alarm clock rings. when you plan to confess, you should..... confess?

you chew on the inside of your cheek, finally giving in to the insistent side of yours that's clawing on your mind. you doubt it'll go well but hey? do things all the way right?

recess came and before he could dash out of the door with his two companions, you reach for his sleeve. he gets pulled back by the motion, instantly balancing himself as a reflex as he turns around to look at you.

"oh. y/n. what is it?"

his stare is icy and it sends shivers down your back but you're not going to back out now. you release your hold as you pull out a letter from your pocket. and then you bow, hands outstretching just like that classic shoujo confession move as you say your cheesy lines. your soul is dying on the inside and your pride is already shattered at this point.

and you're prepared for him to react coldly, walking away as if nothing happened. but the sound of laughter suddenly resonating in your ears makes you lift your head up. and asmodeus's lips quirked up so high that he even needs to wipe his tears away.

now your pride really really shatters.

he takes his time to calm down. and when he does, he smoothly takes the letter from you, his expression unchanging as his fingers lightly brush yours,

"that confession is so unoriginal."

you open your mouth to retort when he suddenly smiles and it makes your heart skip a beat,

"i guess it's fine if it's you though."

eh?

"what does that even mean?," you furrow your eyebrows. you know what it means, you just want to mess around. and the heat creeping up on his cheeks is only making you mentally smirk wider.

"don't make me say it."

"but i don't get it if you like me back or not! ," you huff.

he rolls his eyes and walks away. but you're already grinning when you catch up to him, "say it? for me? please? just once?"

asmodeus scans the surroundings and when he's sure there's no one near, he looks at everywhere but you.

"fine. i like you or whatever."

"i like you too!" you confidently reply before there's a hand on your cheek and since when did he get so close─ and his lips are suddenly pressed on yours. he pulls back just as fast and quickly resumes his walk to the canteen. you don't miss the red on his ears when you run to him.
