nobody believes date got a girlfriend

pairing: kaname date x fem!reader

summary: none of his co-workers believe kaname date when he tells them he is dating you..

"i'm telling you, she's real!"

date scrolled through pictures on his phone, showing off his s/o other to his co-workers, who just shook their heads in disbelief.

"are you sure that those aren't just some pictures you got off the internet, date?"

boss raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms in front of her chest, as she stared at the pictures on date's phone. that girl seemed way out of his league, so it was hard to believe date was really dating her.

"not you too, boss…"

date sighed defeated.

"mizuki has said the same thing! she accused me of taking this picture of a girl from the cabaret club… but i promise, she's a completely normal and real girl!"

ryuki wasn't completely convinced by date's story yet, but he wanted to believe him. or at least try to believe him!

"when are we going to meet her then?"

ryuki asked, taking a sip out of his coffee and leaning back in his chair. date glanced at his phone again, calculating the time in his head until you'd arrive at his workplace.

"she wanted to pick me up after work for *a date*" he lets his colleagues know, grinning excitedly. "so she should be here in a couple minutes!"

despite date saying it was going to take just a couple minutes, it ended up taking much longer. after ten minutes you still hadn't arrived, nor had you answered his calls. half an hour later, it started to get embarrassing and the first few people had already given up and were heading home. it took another fifteen minutes on top of that for you to finally show up – by that point nobody was waiting for you anymore. everyone had just assumed that date lied and went home.

when you parked your car in front of the police station and stepped out, you greeted date with a short kiss.

"sorry i'm so late, i've gotten into a traffic jam…"

you sighed and took your boyfriend's hand, softly smiling at him.

"i hope it wasn't too bad waiting for me…"

date just forced a smile on his lips as he recalled the faces of his co-workers as they headed home one by one, all giving up on him that pitiful look…

"n-no, don't worry! waiting wasn't that bad…"

I was hoping someone would request something with Date! I love him so much. And I love the idea of writing something with Date and Ryuki since it's so obvious Ryuki is in love with him lol. If I remember correctly he even said this at one point in the game?

I like this idea a lot so I'm going to make it a full fic! If you all like it enough I'll write the rest of the parts (I know this is a more niche game so hopefully you'll all enjoy it).

He’s very affectionate. Loves to just hold you or put most of his weight on you to keep you from leaving whatever cuddling you’re doing. Is not afraid of having this affection in public either. There’s been many times Mizuki has given gagging noises from him just happily holding you and kissing you in front of her.

Date is still a bit of a pervert. Yeah he’s happily in a relationship with you, but there’s times he can’t help but look at other people.

That said, he’s more than ready to go on about how you look so much better than they do because, in his eyes, you really do.

While he is a huge goofball and likes to tease and be affectionate and all that, when your safety is concerned then he gets really serious. If he’s chasing after a serial killer, you better have your doors and windows locked (you better have them locked even when he’s not too). He does not need any criminal he’s chasing to go after you. So please, do what he says in these times and stay safe.

Hii id like to request date kaname with a love interest that is aware of the different timelines/alternative universes in the game and manages to go back in time each time to help him solve the case because they are in love with him and in this timeline he notices how out of character they act, how stressed out they are and how tired they look? and after psyncing with them due to him being suspicious of them because they seem to know everything they break down and admit everything and how they watched themselves and him die in other timelines and he comforts them when they are alone? i am soo sorry for dumping everything here so suddenly its 3am and my brain is full of thoughts of date…

The first time you went back in time you weren't sure how or why you could do it. However, this meant you were given another chance to help out Date with his case.

Then the second time happened. And the third. And so on.

It was really getting to you. You were getting desperate more and more each time you went back. When Date helped Mizuki get her voice back, you pretty much begged him for Iris's phone number so you could give her a call in an attempt to keep her home. Unfortunately that timeline resulted in failure as Date died protecting Mizuki.

"Hey, (y/n) are you okay? You don't look so good." Date asks you.

"I'm fine!" You snapped at him. The stress was really getting to you. You looked like you were barely sleeping. He spoke to Aiba internally that something was up. You were helping him too well on the case. Like you knew everything already. He doesn't know how or why you knew, and you weren't telling him. His only option was to get into your head, so he went ahead and psynced with you.

Your somnium was quite something to see. Different scenes showed up for the different timelines you remembered. When the psyncing was done, he asked you a few questions after you woke up in the psync room. You broke down crying.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... It's just- I've been experiencing the same things over and over," you finally answer. "I've watched you die over and over... Even I died too in some of the timelines. I've been trying to prevent them from happening."

It pained him to see you like this. Once the two of you could leave, he made sure to take you somewhere quiet. That way it could just be you and him(technically Aiba too since she's his left eye.) When you were at your destination, he pulled you in for a hug.

"I'm sorry you had to go through all that. It must be hard..."

"I'll be fine. I just..." You wrap your arms around him to return the gesture. You couldn't finish your thought.

"Hey, how about I take you out somewhere after this case?" Date asks when he finally pulls away.

"Really?"

"Yeah. It'll be my treat." He smiles at you.

"... Okay," you nod, finally giving him a small smile back. The two of you went back to work after that.

Thank God neither of you two died anymore. The case is eventually over, and he was able to take you out as promised. Hopefully things continued to go up from there.

modern au gi. tea shop owner!wrio x detective!gn!reader

loosely inspired by ai: the somnium files and purple hyacinth. i wanna thank iryth @iridescene for her input. everyone should bounce ideas off of her because her mind is amazing and her ideas are immaculate.

tea shop owner wrio acts as an informant to detective reader. wrio used to be a high rank officer in the police force but was dismissed after stuff went wrong in the case he was assigned to, and then the case went cold. years later, reader was assigned to a case which had strong associations to that cold case. they plan to find him since he was directly involved.

they discovered important clues regarding the cold case from the suspect of their previous case during their interrogation. as they press him further about what he said, a senior officer told them to stop immediately. curiosity about the cold case is dangerous, and the senior officer warned them that they could end up like wrio if the possibility occurs.

the current state of the justice system in the country is very messy. wrio’s dismissal from the police was a result of corruption. the true perpetrator of the case manipulated the dynamics of the situation behind the scenes using their power and wealth. so the police are forbidden to act on it because of pressure from higher authorities (i.e., the government and the rich who bribed the law to stay silent).

however, reader’s determined to find out the truth, so they requested to continue the interrogation with the suspect about the information he revealed (without permission from their seniors). the suspect is actually investigating the same case as reader on someone else’s behalf, however their carelessness caused them to get caught by the police, which isn’t part of the plan. reader promised that they would let him go as the police doesn’t have enough evidence to keep him in a holding cell, on the condition to have them meet the person who sent him to the site.

reader meets wrio, who doesn’t look like the type to be a tea shop owner. noticing that they’re a new face in his shop, he serves them tea on the house. maybe wrio could have them play a guessing game on what kind of tea he served and he would tell them the answer with fun facts, to demonstrate his abilities as an informant? they would guess right, and he continue the game, admitting that they’re interesting (similar to the confrontation scene with lyney).

reader answers all of his questions right thanks to their detective skills, and wrio asks them the purpose of their visit (or something vague idk). when they realize what he means and give an acceptable answer he’s looking for, he says with a smile:

“you’re quite the special detective. aren’t you, rookie?”

all the plans that went wrong

pairing: mizuki date x gn!reader

summary: you end up in the hospital after being shot and your girlfriend, mizuki, pays you a visit

mizuki was blaming herself for what happened to you. if she had only gone with you on that mission, this could've been avoided! if only she could've held you in her arms when you were injured and scared, she could have comforted you. but she was miles away at the office, not even aware of the mission boss had sent you on.

as soon as she had heard the news from boss, mizuki had grabbed her scooter and drove off, without even knowing where exactly she needed to be. did she have to drive to a hospital? or the place you got shot at? luckily, she had aiba with her, who had all the needed informations ready and quickly navigated mizuki to the hospital the paramedics had brought you to.

once there, mizuki rushed into the room you were in, without even knocking, where you were laying on a lone bed, still conscious.

"y/n!"

mizuki cried out your name as she saw you, sprinting towards you and wrapping her arms around you way too tight, before hearing you wince in pain and pulling back.

"don't ever scare me like that again, you idiot! i was so worried about you…"

mizuki tried her hardest to hold back her tears as she scolded you, but a wave of relief washed over her as she saw you laying there, still alive and well, that made it impossible for her to not tear up a little.

"i'm sorry, 'zuki… i promise i'll be more careful next time!"

you tried to comfort your girlfriend, gently holding her hand, even though you barely had the strength for that.

"you better be… from now on, you'll have to tell me about those missions, so i can accompany you! got it?"

you smiled softly. mizuki was still trying to act tough, but she barely managed to keep it together, sniffling softly and wiping away all tears as soon as they threatened to roll down her cheeks.

"i got it!"

Type of Request: Oneshot, Self Indulgent, Light Angst, Happy Ending

Note(s): Contains heavy spoilers to AI: The Somnium Files!! I’ve really been into the series a lot lately and have fallen hard for Date so I had to write something.

“You should go to them.” Your words brought Date back to the present. Back to the sunset reflected on the waters by the warehouses. Back to the reason why you had called him out here originally.

“What?” He blurted out on accident. He had meant to pretend that he was following along with the conversation instead of his mind wandering as he stared at you, the sunset making your features brighter as a halo of light surrounded your form. A bittersweet smile spread on your lips and he felt guilt for missing what had been said.

“Hitomi and Iris. You should go to them,” you repeated and Date couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows. “They were the ones that gave you peace and you went through hell for them. You look at Hitomi the same way that I look at you.”

Date would’ve teased you for your last comment if it wasn’t the rest of your statement that made him pause. He finally had his memories and his original body back. The change has been interesting to adjust to and get used to, but it felt easier with you by his side. Except you had been distant, distracted. And now he guesses he knows why.

“You’re breaking up with me?” Was what he asked, feeling disbelief and hurt. When he woke up with no memories, you were among the first at his “new” job to greet him. One of the first to exchange teasing remarks and make him feel relatively normal. You had given him peace when his head was just full of questions that didn’t seem to have any answers. When he had manned up to ask you out and you said yes, he felt over the moon. And now that he has his original body back, his memories back, you want him to leave.

“You went through so much for those two. They were taken away from you before but now you can go be with them.” Date couldn’t help a frown at that. You’re right, but he can’t just leave all those memories he has of you for old ones. It wouldn’t be right... Right?

“I don’t want to be with them... well I don’t have a choice when it comes to Iris it feels like, but I want my relationship to be with you.” He tried to joke but it felt hollow with the topic.

“Date, you proposed to Hitomi before.”

“And then I shot her in the arm and left without any mention of being alive. They did fine without me. You don’t like the new hair, that’s it huh. I can grow it out.” Date felt some relief fill him when you did let out a light laugh at that.

“She knows the truth now and so does Iris. I’m sure that they-”

“Do you want me to leave you?” Date couldn’t help but cut you off. You kept trying to persuade him to go to them, he couldn’t help but wonder. “Did I do something wrong?”

“No! You haven’t done anything. You all just looked so happy to be together and I want you to be happy.” Date couldn’t help a sigh at that. He was happy to see them, to have his memories back and remember them.

“You’re an idiot.”

“Huh?”

“I said you’re an idiot. I love you, I need you. Yes I had a past with Hitomi and practically am a father to Iris, but that was the past. I want you in my future.” He would’ve made a face with how cheesy that line was, but he had to convince you.

“Are you sure?”

“Are you kidding? I didn’t have Aiba hounding me to propose to you for nothing,” Date joked before freezing when he realized his words. “Shit.”

“Date you-”

MATCH-UPS FOR ROUND 1

Here's how this is going to work: we'll be making a proper structured bracket starting round 2. For round 1, you won't know who anyone will go up against next!

We tried our best with the match-ups based on what we know about each character's popularity and the type of media it is, and the idea starting round 2 is to use round 1's results to make the brackets.
