Headcanons ->

Scar is the first person to trip into a hole or fly face-first into a wall, but is an inexplicably natural dancer. He picks up any style effortlessly! This annoys Grian very much, who, though he can be 'graceful' in the air, is very clumsy on his feet.

Pearl and Gem's waltz is more of a duel of spinning. Who can get the other person dizzy enough to fall? This devolves into a tornado of cackling, lifting, tossing, whirling until either they both collapse or a sword fight breaks out 😂 It's fine, a sword fight has to break out at a party for either to consider it a success.

Cleo and Etho dance like they have no plan whatsoever. They are dancing with different styles to different tunes in their heads but somehow it just works? Toes are getting stepped on and elbows are getting bruised but they don't seem to notice or mind. This dance has worked for them for years, no reason to change it up now!

honestly I’d just like to hear any of your thoughts on euphoria because everyone I hear that talks about euphoria kind of sucks and doesn’t discuss it in an interesting way

okay so what interests me the most about euphoria is obviously nate, jules and cal's storyline. nate and cal's relationship is possibly the most interesting and layered exploration of an unconsumated incestuous relationship i've ever seen on tv in my life. nate is clearly very traumatized by having seen his dad's porno tapes and often puts himself in the place of his victims, both the extents he takes his body to, and his taste in women are very influenced by all of this plus the idea of masculinity his dad enforces while also nate tries not to be like his dad (gay).

i also don't wanna get too much into it but nate's relationship with his mom is very interesting to me too. when cal leaves the house in s2 there's this scene in which nate's mom starts calling nate "the man of the house" and starts sort of flirting with him, i can't remember if she's drunk.

on the other hand nate is of course an abuser and a rapist himself, his relationship with cassie might be more interesting to me in that sense than his relationship with jules or with maddy if only because of how much the audience completely turned to hating cassie and refused to see her as the victim there. but his relationship with jules is of course abusive too, and again very tied to cal himself. it's different tho cause most of it happens online (i can't remember if they use grindr the entire time? but it's gotta be either that or instagram or texting or something) and then a lot of it only in jules' mind. still there's examples of lovebombing and manipulation, and of course he physically threatens her when they finally meet in person.

this is like, my favorite part of the show, then again it's still buried under one thousand million layers of sam levinson transphobia and misogyny. jules' character suffered a lot of whatever the opposite of character development is in s2 too. in the special episode she accepts herself and comes out as a lesbian, just to hook up with a guy who felt like a "how to be a chaser 101 manual for dummies" in s2. and, in a show where they're all teenagers allowed to make mistakes, the audience somehow decided that she was an irredeemable monster for cheating on rue, which. whatever. who knows if rue and her ever even defined the relationship. but that's not the point.

i also really like the way euphoria handles drug addiction, for all the shit it gets about how it's "unrealistic" i personally think it's very genuine there (it's based on levinson's personal experiences, at the end of the day) and i think it's really well done, i never understood that specific criticism

Hey anon! Thank you for asking and sorry for the somewhat late reply. You might have seen it yourself by now, if not I made a post about it here where I included three screenshots of her tweets.

Since I don‘t really enjoy giving myself the headache to check Rowling‘s twitter page very often, I only found out about it through German newspapers (some of them didn‘t get her sarcasm though, so yeah, for some people in Germany she will have the reputation of liking gender-queer Goth-Metal now, which is kinda funny because it would totally annoy her :D).

Basically she dedicated around 10 sarcastic tweets to them, more than to any of the other contestants. Some of them may make it seem like she actually liked the performance, but knowing her stance about gender queerness and also seeing some of her replies to other users make it clear that her words were only mocking. So it wasn‘t really a 'rage fit' (kinda exaggerated there for stylistic purposes, sorry :D), but given the amount of attention she spent on Lotl, just seeing male-presenting people freely expressing their gender identity must have really made her blood boil.

One more thing that I cannot stress enough: Don‘t look (too much) on social media these days, such as the replies to Rowling‘s tweets, but also the comment section under Lotl‘s performance. There is so much triggering homo- and especially transphobia there, it‘s bizarre. Just know that whatever you feel, however you want to express yourself, you are not alone.

basically at this point i think anyone who is not upset by words like “adulting” and sentences like “i cant english today” should have a good enough understanding of the english language to understand that using kin as a verb isnt really “incorrect” and almost always makes sense in context and is often actually easier to read and process than more “correct” uses for a lot of people and i honestly think that the problem is that people who treat language more casually are looked down on by polite society and a lot of people who are othered by that society will try to recreate themselves in its image to regain the acceptance they felt in the past and like i do empathize with that but i also dont really get why im supposed to give a shit about other peoples linguistic hangups just to get to stay in a discord server
