oh guess who’s rambling about their fav character again
cannot stop thinking about the parentification of jonathan byers. he’s been taking care of will for so long (especially when lonnie was around) and never really got to be a kid. especially with the upside down business, which happened in his JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. it’s no surprise he turned to weed as an outlet after so many years of trauma and responsibility that probably caused lasting issues he won’t get to address until it’s all over. it’s not will’s fault, not at all, but i am kinda mad at joyce for pushing that onto him. he’s always an afterthought to EVERYONE. even nancy. look, i am the number one jancy fan, but i’m not denying that she was flirting with steve in the upside down. and maybe it was because of the stress, sure. but she still should’ve thought of jonathan. ‘he’s such a mess this season lol’ yeah no shit?? watching people die/almost die/become possessed by the mind flayer will do that to a guy. god i want to wrap him in a blanket and give him a forehead kiss and some hot chocolate and tell him everything’s going to be ok

BRAMBLESTAR: Also The Hunt. no real reasoning here, fuck that guy
SQUIRRELFLIGHT: If I had to give her one it'd be Eye or Desolation, but she's not an avatar. Not yet, at least... [stares intensely at squirrelflight's hope]
LEAFPOOL: Once again, not an avatar, mostly just traumatized, but if I had to give her one it'd be the Web. Probably a bit of Lonely in there too.
CROWFEATHER: The End. everyone he loves dies or is otherwise lost to him. also something something crows as an omen of death
ASHFUR: The Desolation. Do I really need to explain this one?
JAYFEATHER: The Eye. Ironic, given that he's blind, but... well. Look at his lore and tell me you don't see it (no pun intended). Sharp-Eyed Jay, and all that.
LIONBLAZE: The Slaughter. killing and violence
HOLLYLEAF: The Eye. Idk, this one was mostly just vibes. She forces a statement out of Ashfur before killing him.
FALLEN LEAVES: The Buried. no shit
ROCK: The Eye. I mean. My guy knows everything, but either can't or won't interfere, which is the most Eye shit.
SOL: The Spiral! He's actually the Distortion in this AU, which is fun. I've already made a ref for him, which can be found if you scroll a bit.
POPPYFROST: The Lonely. Her whole thing in TFA is changed from whatever it was in canon to her giving herself up to the Lonely. Marked by the End and the Eye because of that time she practically fucking died but Jayfeather dragged her back.
DOVEWING: The Eye. yeah
IVYPOOL: The Hunt. Her name is changed to Ivyfang here. Also mostly a vibes thing, but I like it
HAWKFROST: The Web. manipulation go brrr
BLOSSOMFALL: The Corruption. vibes mostly
TIGERSTAR: The Hunt. Do I really need to explain?
MAGGOTTAIL: The Corruption. disgusting little worm man
SNOWTUFT: The Lonely. vibes + his rewrite character
MAPLESHADE: The Desolation (most clearly evidenced with Crookedstar), although she does have a more water-y aesthetic than the usual fire one.

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.
don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.
if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.
you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:
how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!

Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)
*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.
This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made.There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.

Minecraft Wiki is independent again!!
Yahoo!!! No more FANDOM wiki!!! Find the new minecraft wiki at minecraft.wiki!!
I thought it would be good to make a little PSA post with summarised information on why they moved from FANDOM!
Why did they move?
FANDOM is notoriously a bad wiki for both readers and editors alike. This is due to the insane amount of ads, the site layout, the lag, the fact that FANDOM can just take your wiki from you, etc has made the minecraft wiki decide to move
Because of the lack of agency the minecraft wiki has over its own wiki, they had a long discussion and vote with the community on what wiki platform to move towards. You can view both discussions here and here
By moving to a more independent wiki, they can provide a much better and friendlier service.
What's improved with the new wiki?
New site look, lacking the ugly FANDOM yellow sidebar and removing all other unnecessary bloat! This also includes a dark mode option and other custom settings.
Faster load times! I have incredibly good internet, and even I notice the STARK difference between the load times of FANDOM and the official wiki!
Less ads! At the moment they have no ads, but they do intend to have at least one. The placement of which will be discussed with the community to ensure minimal disruption to the user.
Better search functionality! FANDOM's search is notoriously bad at giving you the answers you need. Now they can have a more robust search function that more accurately brings users to what they are looking for.
No age popups- Unlike FANDOM this wiki does not need to know if you're a child or adult.
Anonymous editing has returned! Users can now once again anonymously contribute to the site!
HOWEVER. THE MINECRAFT WIKI NEEDS YOUR HELP!
FANDOM refuses to close old wiki's that have moved away, and so they will continue to show up in search domains. The old domains such as minecraft.gamepedia.com and minecraftwiki.net are also permanently attached to the FANDOM wiki.
In order to help the new wiki be successful, you can help out in the following way:
Spread the word!
Don't interact with FANDOM links. The less people interact with FANDOM, the more google knows that people are looking for the official wiki and not the FANDOM one!
Dont use the old links, again for the same reason as above!
And of course, improve the wiki :D! Since you don't need an account to make edits, see what you can contribute!
