Holmes Family Hcs
I'm just gonna headcanon more stuff while I'm waiting for more content.
-Mycroft was happy go lucky 7-year old until he finds out that Sherlock was going to be born after his birthday.
-He was of course excited to have a baby brother but he has a lot of responsibilities now that he's an older brother now (also training to help atone his family's name.)
-Sherlock was a menace as a child. Always causing destruction and giving his older brother wrinkles from a very young age (example: almost burning the chemistry teacher with one of his experiments).
-Though both brothers have a 7 year age gap, very different personalities and drive each other crazy, they still love and care for each other. They both have to make sure they behave in front of their father because he sometimes scare them.
-Mr. Holmes is a respectable man but has strict rules in regarding to raising his two sons, especially to the elder. (One of his rules are if one of you break the rules, you both get punishment so that they'll behave.)
-But he loves and cares for them unconditionally and dreads the day where he has to explain to the elder about their family past.
-He also has a goofy side whenever he's willing to have fun with his family.
-Mycroft, after becoming a teenager, finds out about their family's secret history and swore to his parents that he'll help.
-Sherlock doesn't know about this and assumed Mycroft doesn't like him anymore. Their relationship became rocky after Mycky moved out.
-Sherlock goes to school and could have been acdemically gold but he gets bored of the lessons and fail at the stuff he doesn't like, much to his father and brother's dismay.
-The only woman who he respected the most was his mother.
-Unlike their father, their mother was a free spirit that people wonder why she married a very serious man.
-She was the one who trained Sherlock and Mycroft on how to defend themselves and both boys loved her dearly.
-She sadly doesn't live long enough to meet Liam but she would always hope someone out there would be there for him. (She would have immediately loved Liam).
-Their father is still alive but not as close to his kids anymore. (Very sad after fall but was extremely happy after finding out Sherlock was married and taking life more seriously).
-If there is a possibility of a younger third or more siblings, Mycky and Sherly would be overprotective.
-If it's a younger brother, very tight knit and a source for teasing around the house but they still love each other (They're emotionally smarter than their brothers). Probably a reader and stays around with his father.
-It's worse if the third sibling is a girl, because the overprotectiveness and the teasing wouldn't stop even after she's an adult. (Sherlock jokingly asked her once if she could marry Louis, so they can have a reason to be in the same house as Liam. Never asked again after seeing what she could do and Mycky notes that.)
-Overall, goofy family who are sometimes bad at expression their emotions around each other.
-They all reunite and spend time with their new in-laws.

Hi, I was just wondering if technical difficulties is abandoned?
I hope you’re doing well!
*drops in after 5 years and 4 months with a technical difficulties chapter update*
*disappears*
Tumblr media
cover art made by @angel-gidget ♡
03/08/23. HELLO, HELLO, HELLO, ALL, LONG LONG LONG TIME, NO SEE. ♡ Can you believe it? When I first published this story (first to tumblr, then to ao3), I had just moved to Japan! When I posted ch. 7, I was still living in Japan, and would stay there for another 7ish months... and in the 5 years and 4 months since posting the last chapter, I have moved to three different cities in the United States and started a Ph.D. program. (I am currently halfway through my PhD program!!!!!) What a wild ride. Also, we lived through the pandemic?! And I bought a house! Over the summer! The market was vicious.
So, then how did I get the inspiration/time/energy/motivation to write Ch. 8, you ask? Marvelous question. I lied down in bed last night to go to sleep "early" and ended up reading an utterly hilarious play-by-play commentary on Bad Books, Good Times of a popular fantasy novel series—and I'm not quite sure what it was about "poorly written books explained by hilariously clever book lovers" but I suddenly had a craving for fanfiction, so I opened up my Books app on my phone, and my eyes fell upon a sudden recommendation for my downloaded copy of technical difficulties. And I thought, "Am I suddenly and weirdly in the mood to jot down some notes to start Ch. 7 right now? By golly, I think I am."
4.5 hours later, I'd written the whole damn thing from scratch on my phone in my Notes app. (Messily! Half-assed! But I wrote all of it down!) I then spent another 6.5 hours today filling in the gaps and "editing." This chapter (and the one that will follow it) has been in my head for more than half a decade, but I just haven't had the space to get it out until now!!
I think one of the most beautiful parts of getting a PhD is how completely it blows your perfectionism tendencies utterly to bits, and one of the really interesting byproducts that has come up in my acdemic writing is just how quickly I can crank out decent-enough writing (skill-building!!). In my case, I think so much of it has to do with just being able to word vomit fairly well while not trying to fix anything until the whole damn thing is basically done. So, I applied that knowledge here! Behold!
This isn't to say that I'll be writing the final chapter anytime soon—I may be on spring break right now and may have had a stroke of Writing Inspiration in the Wild™ last night, but I'm still finishing my last semester of classes and learning advanced Python and working on my milestone paper for my doctoral program and preparing to present at my next conference in June and preparing my proposal for my dissertation next fall. BUT! The important thing is that I will post the last chapter of this story (and all my other stories)! Eventually!! ;)
No BETA for this chapter because I gotta THROW this out onto the internet and get back to coding, so bear with! I may do minor edits for it in the near or distant future. Also, please note that I have not watched any episodes of Miraculous Ladybug after the finale of Season 1, so this fic is very much a ~time capsule~ from the past. If there is any additional lore that might otherwise apply to the plot of this fic, please know that I don't know about it, and I am keeping myself selectively ignorant on all matters of Miraculous Ladybug season 2 and beyond until after I finish this story the way I originally intended. ♡ Woo!
as for, tumblr, sadly, to be honest, I'm never really online anymore! I'll respond to comments here on ao3 ASAP, though. ♡ LOVE YOU ALL, THANK YOU. ♡♡♡

Topic: Changing the school environment - Biggest challenge
• By. The National UN Volunteers Team - India
Challange: 1. School Drop outs/ At risk students/
• Why do they drop out?
The “push, pull, and falling out” framework dictates three conditions that can contribute to a student dropping out of school.
The first, push, is when the student experiences a push from the school that results in their decision to drop out. The student could have not followed school rules or policies, for example, cheating on a test or being disrespectful towards a teacher. Doing so and the subsequent consequences—detention, suspension, expulsion—could result in a student dropping out.
The second, pull, is when the student is pulled by factors within themselves or their own lives to drop out. This might include pregnancy, changing interests and opportunities, financial concerns, illness, or familial factors.
The final is falling out, whereby a student gradually becomes disengaged and disaffected with the idea of completing school. As opposed to push and pull factors that have identifiable causes, there may be no particular reason in falling out cases.
Solution: How To Prevent Drop Out
• Interventions are Psychological and acdemic.
Most school-dropout-prevention interventions focus on providing either psychological or academic support to students.
The former might include counseling and increasing teacher support, while the latter might include providing specialised tutoring or altering expectations about student performance.
One intervention is aptly called Check & Connect. Applied throughout Kindergarten to Grade 12, this intervention is largely psychological—providing increased teacher support to at-risk students and their families.
The researchers use a concept called “persistence plus” whereby they demonstrate to students that there is an adult at their school who believes in them, is available to them, and will motivate them to learn, complete homework, maintain regular attendance, and ultimately, stay in and succeed at school.
• Generally, Student engagement across the school years depends on the degree to which there is a match between the student’s characteristics and the school environment so that the student is able to handle the academic and behavioral demands of school.
By creating close bonds between students and teachers, the intervention assists in cultivating a match between the student and the school, and as challenges arise, effectively addressing these.
Adopting this intervention, through administering widespread empathic response training, could be successful in reducing school dropout.
For one, it reduces the push factors experienced by students. It also creates a sense of psychological safety. Their teacher—an authority figure—is responding to their misbehavior with understanding and offering opportunities for improvement. This can encourage positive attitudes about schooling and hence increase completion.
• Create some new ideas:
These above said interventions should be done in group format. Mirroring group therapy for depressive disorders, this would connect students with others who are experiencing similar issues and facilitate a shared avenue for resolving these issues.
Another idea is peer-to-peer counseling. Pairing students skeptical of school (and at risk of dropping out) with those with foremost educational goals could facilitate an important dialogue. Sharing perspectives across such disparate viewpoints would, at the very least, provide an indication that another attitude, experience, and outcome is possible.
So dear school leaders, Applying key lessons from these interventions in more accessible formats could create scalable and impactful interventions.
Ultimately, our education system must adapt to the nature of students. It must be generous, inspiring, and enlightening.

Love how two years of letting myself have a hobby taught me MUCH MORE that when i was forced to not have hobbies and focus on acdemic learning only during 12 years of school and 4 years of uni isnt that funny mom and dad?
Love how letting myself be exposed to the entire world and diffrent people with different backgrounds and all the good and the bad in it made me 300× a better version of myself than when you swore up and down that locking me in a room away from everyone would be good for me huh mom and dad?
I Might forget but i will Never forgive.
Never.

Expecting a three year old to read at first grade level and be a piano virtuoso is child abuse. Forcing kids to be doing devlopmentaly inappropriate activities puts too much pressure and set them up for anxiety and burn out. No to mention focous on acdemics over relational skills, self soothing, repaire and self care will build deficits in those realms and leave the kid out in the cold in many ways

Thank you so much, not just for being a great writer but also being super nice, like...your super supportive of everyone in this community here and that really means a lot 💖
Thank you!! Sorry for taking awhile to answer this but I can never give a simple brief succinct answer cause I gotta ramble. And also cause I feel just replying with thank you is a bit rude? But that's just me.
But thank you again!! It always means so much when people compliment my writing. But more importantly, thank you for the second half. And yeah, I try to make sure to send positivity all directions cause as a content creator, it means so damn much. Growing up, all the things I liked, like writing anything really non acdemic, was just kinda left unurtured since I was always so embarrassed of it. But that's also just me having severe fear of criticism of anything and everything I do. I do want to upload my old ass like 3+year old nonkink stories unedited but they contain harmful stereotypes from fu/jo/shis shit, so that's a tentative maybe.
And I know how much work goes into things and while yeah, we're not necessarily doing it for recognition, someone taking the time and saying, "I like your work," literally makes content creators' day and costs us nothing!!!
And when I was working on my nonkink story (which I haven't updated in a year which I really should) all the nice comments really just make me so happy, and they still do!!! Literally year old comments complimenting my writing and I still remember some or the happy feeling from it and it makes my day!
Granted I've gotten a couple negative comments, one telling me to kill myself and another that was a backhanded compliment cause my story was gay. And one comment on a kink story that did upset me even though the commenter kinda backpedaled with a compliment. And the negative comments stick with me too, so don't be needlessly rude to content creators.
So to get off my soapbox quickly, please y'all, just comment or send an ask/message. Anyway you can, and tell content creators you like their work. Likes mean a lot, but someone taking the time to send a message or write tags in a reblog is like crack for us. So do it! Spread some positivity around!
Anyways, sorry for the tangent, but thank you again so much for this. It really means a metric ton whenever I get a nice message. Especially since your writing is so good, it means a lot more. Thank you again.
And once more, please tell content creators you love their work. It takes a couple seconds and it's a wonderful feeling.

What Can Grief Teach Us About Ourselves?
Grief and Grieving a guide for the confused
https://michael.cholbi.com/
Grief: A Philosophical Guide published by Princeton University Press
Michael Cholbi
An engaging and illuminating exploration of grief—and why, despite its intense pain, it can also help us grow
Experiencing grief at the death of a person we love or who matters to us—as universal as it is painful—is central to the human condition. Surprisingly, however, philosophers have rarely examined grief in any depth. In Grief, Michael Cholbi presents a groundbreaking philosophical exploration of this complex emotional event, offering valuable new insights about what grief is, whom we grieve, and how grief can ultimately lead us to a richer self-understanding and a fuller realization of our humanity. Drawing on psychology, social science, and literature as well as philosophy, Cholbi explains that we grieve for the loss of those in whom our identities are invested, including people we don’t know personally but cherish anyway, such as public figures. Their deaths not only deprive us of worthwhile experiences; they also disrupt our commitments and values. Yet grief is something we should embrace rather than avoid, an important part of a good and meaningful life. The key to understanding this paradox, Cholbi says, is that grief offers us a unique and powerful opportunity to grow in self-knowledge by fashioning a new identity. Although grief can be tumultuous and disorienting, it also reflects our distinctly human capacity to rationally adapt as the relationships we depend on evolve. An original account of how grieving works and why it is so important, Grief shows how the pain of this experience gives us a chance to deepen our relationships with others and ourselves.
The pandemic has flooded the world with grief, but we’re not in a ‘grief pandemic’
Michael Cholbi is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. He has published widely in ethical theory, practical ethics, and the philosophy of death and dying. His books include Suicide: The Philosophical Dimensions (Broadview, 2011), Understanding Kant’s Ethics (Cambridge University Press, 2016), and Grief: A Philosophical Guide (Princeton University Press, expected 2021). He is the editor of several scholarly collections, including Immortality and the Philosophy of Death (Rowman and Littlefield, 2015); Procreation, Parenthood, and Educational Rights (Routledge, 2017); The Future of Work, Technology, and Basic Income (Routledge, 2019); and The Movement for Black Lives: Philosophical Perspectives (Oxford University Press, 2020). He is the the co-editor of the textbook Exploring the Philosophy of Death and Dying: Classic and Contemporary Perspectives (Routledge, forthcoming 2020).  His work has also appeared in a number of scholarly journals, including Ethics, Mind, Philosophical Studies, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, and Oxford Studies in Normative Ethics. In recent years, he has been an acdemic visitor at Australian National University, the University of Turku (Finland), and the Hastings Center - Bioethics Research Insitute.
