man i don't know why but i can't trust people who erase canon information about a character just to label them a sexuality that doesn't even make sense

#yes i am looking at the shit ton of lesbians who just happen to ignore female characters who just dated men #or dated men for the majority of their storyline #to label them as lesbians #i swear to god the amount of times i saw agatha with that lesbian flag sticker #and worst of all she does kiss woman!!! but she is bisexual!!! explicitly confirmed!!!!!#but still she has her sexuality erased!!!! since kissing women isn't enough for some sapphics #i remember seeing a post a few days ago #which loosely said that some folks are so desperate for queer validation they'll do harmful/disrespectful things #to those they deem their icons #this discourse was obviously tied to queer ppl disrespecting artists #especifically jimin since so many queer folks just love to misgender him and label him as trans #and also to taylor swift and her insane group of fans who swear to god she's a closeted lesbian #but i also think about how common this very intentional and deliberate behavior has become inside fandom spaces #where ppl just erase a character's sexuality or gender identity just to make themselves feel better about their own identities #but like #at what costs #at the cost of erasing true representation when the character is indeed lgbt just not the sexuality/gender you wanted them to be?#this is so tiring and that's why i absolutely run away from fandom spaces for a long time now

I am not and have never been a gamer but the more I hear about hades the more it sounds like it was created just to try and tempt me into the gaming world. everything I could have wanted from a game right down to the apparently well researched mythology is there. unfortunately my non-gamer identity is more than just a choice and I am genuinely just shit at it from zero practice otherwise I would have probably bought it by now

#like it has everything to tempt me. afore mentioned accurate mythology. set in the underworld (goth).#character designs for all the mythological figures make sense and also absolutely fuck. the whole game looks visually very nice. ghosts.#the main character is even bisexual.#also as soon as I saw the achilles has basically been written as having undergone significant character development since dying #I was INTERESTED #having a biggest bitch in the achaean army (affectionate) die and eventually gain the energy of a depressed middle aged father is INSPIRED #and I (<- person with thinks far too much about the iliad disease) am always here for interesting takes on achilles #especially if they're also funny #only disappointment is that he isn't ranga 😔 the era of exclusively blonde achilles needs to end. acknowledge his canonical red hair #y'all say you love to see a ranga losing but won't let this iconic ranga lose his war prize his boyfriend his temper and his life. smh #ANYWAY. the design of orpheus in hades is also funky as hell #I was expecting something more along the lines of hadestown orpheus so to see robert smith instead was a very fun surprise #sapphire's random thoughts #hades game

Being quietly but incredibly vindicated by Taliesin explicitly saying at the Comic-Con panel that bringing Molly back would have been wrong, that Molly’s whole deal was a celebration of the ephemeral, and that introducing Kingsley was always the plan.

#not maintagging this one because i simply don't have the strength for molly discourse now #yes! you can miss molly! a major recurring theme in cr is death and grief and mourning and healing #but it would be completely antithetical to the actual canon character to bring them back #if in your own headcanon or fic; you want to imagine a version of molly as alive; more power to you #but canon never 'owed' us a resurrected molly because actual canon molly would never stand for it #i feel like a lot of people got caught up in the excellent RP by the rest of the cast about their characters' grief for molly #and with death and in grief; you often idolize people; overlook their negative qualities and fixate on their good moments #which is not the fault of the cast (who RP-ed it excellently) or the characters (who mourned very realistically)#but a lot of people got caught up in those powerful emotions and it just contributed to the deification of the character #which led to real world nasty behaviours like shitting on caduceus and attacking fans who did anything other than praise molly #people really took the 'i am your god' JOKE a little too far #on a side note; you just known that if molly had lived; they'd have eventually clashed with the rampant biphobia in the cr fandom #right now they're the dead 'queer icon' (as if cr hasn't had multiple queer characters in all types of roles across all their campaigns)#but if they'd lived; how many people who now laud them as the pinnacle of queer rep would deny their bisexuality?#i thank blood maledict that we never had to witness the absolute nightmare that would have erupted if molly/jester ever became a thing
