so what if harrison met a guy at ANOTHER party who sees him for who he is & makes him confront his internal demons <3

The man steps forward. Harrison recoils even though no one has touched him. Some partygoers have entered the kitchen now, all congregating around the punch bowl like he had been. The bang of music from outside follows them as they chatter and the noise is like an ice pick to the brain, and Harrison wants to tell them all to leave, Harrison wants to bolt from this city, Harrison wants to be someone else’s son for a day just to see if that might fix him.

“Who shamed you?” asks the man.

Harrison inhales, aware he feels like a deer just about to be shot. He glances at the others here with them—their golf ball eyes, their pearl necklaces, then eyes the door. He can’t look at the man again. If wisdom is a weapon, Harrison’s a prey animal, so gullible, death a requirement of his life.

The man opens his mouth again.

Harrison runs.

More Lonan/Rosette stuff since not like I'll ever write this anyway. But if I was the type of person to write, I've had this vision in my head of a Lonan/Rosette Soulmate AU oneshot. The type of soulmate AU where everyone has a timer on their wrist that counts down to the day they meet their soulmate.

Rosette has a "dead timer." Greyed out and blank to indicate that her soulmate is dead. Was told it was that way since she was born. So it's something she had to come to terms with and does feel saddened about, but tries not to let it get to her. In this AU I see Whitney as having a soulmate timer that indicates she won't meet her own soulmate until she's quite old, so has also just kind of given up on the concept and just lives her life without worrying about it. Can still be happy with other people and find love regardless of what "fate" says. So she tries to instill that idea in her daughter, which helps a bit. At least gets her to worry less about soulmate stuff.

But the scene that stands out in my head is the scene where Lonan "falls." Have some dramatic line about how as Rosette lays asleep that night, her previously blank wrist flips over to display a number for the first time. And how halfway across the world, another timer, recently greyed out from a tragedy, flips over to display a matching number.

Gdi I have so much Lonan brainrot right now. Lonan, bluejay, sugerpie, my darling little shut in baby boy, let me fuckin focus please there is so much Lemon stuff to work on right now. Livia: *Perks up the ground shaking then turns her eyes wide at the stampede of people* Huh...

Livia: *Turns and bolts away, her ears flattened back*

Ziro: *Nods and stalks along the stampede, staring intently*

Malleus: *Appears from the stampede and grabs her before she got trampled, leaping out and setting her down*

???: *Grabs Malleus, snagging him back into the stampede, Livia's bracelet breaking off her wrist caught on his outfit*

Livia: *Gasps, her eyes wide* MAL!!

Livia: *Stares at the human stampede alarmed*

Malleus: *Leaps out and lands next to her, quickly hurrying her away* GO! NOW!!

Ziro: *Rams into Livia, sending her tumbling away then shoves Malleus off*

Ziro: *Stares down at him, flicking his tail*

Story

Ray's friends are finally back home from college. But in the seaside town where they grew up, everything has changed. Madison is always distracted by work and her controlling parents. She's dating Oliver. Oliver doesn't know what he wants to do with his life anymore, but he knows he can't stay in Point Blink. Lonan has made a new home for himself in the city with his boyfriend, so nobody is quite sure what he plans to do next.

June in Point Blink isn't turning out as perfect as Ray planned.

Judith just moved to Point Blink.

A somewhat disastrous pair, Ray and Judith fall victim to an act of arson on a mysterious landmark in the woods. Whilst the girls uncover the identity of the arsonist on a dusty old camera, they develop a strong bond with one another and a connection to their mental health neither of them had before. However, as Ray gets closer to saving herself, she digs up damaging truths about her closest friends that threaten to tear the five of them - and Point Blink - apart.

Characters

Ray – 20, a somewhat optimistic college student who misses her friends but will do anything to keep them together. spends most of her time in alone her bedroom or in the woods with a camera.

Judith – 19, the energetic new girl in town with an enigmatic background and a savior complex. used to live with her brother but decidedly does not anymore.

Lonan – 20, Ray’s best friend who loves his friends dearly but struggles to put himself and his art first. struggling to live with past decisions while navigating a new relationship.

Madison – 20, hates the idea of college and is very set in her ways, which can be detrimental to her friendships. works at a local coffeehouse.

Oliver – 19, the last person to join the friend group; the first person to leave. known for his boastful grades and sour humor.

WIP Intro - Changing States

Genre: Adult literary fiction, short fiction (a Moth Work story that occurs after BODY BACK)

Status: Currently drafting / 3k words

Synopsis: After a whirlwind romance devastatingly ends, Jeremiah moves back to his hometown in Maryland for support only to receive word there’s been a death in the family the day he's set to arrive.

Setting: Baltimore, MD

Vibe: Sunny backroads, noonday fields, retro diners, long car rides, the sparkle of headlights, motion blur, undeveloped film, dusty sunsets, a purple MP3 player, the way childhood feels in photographs, crackling home movies, misty autumn evenings, quiet bursts of grief, summers at the lakeside, the first dreamy flare of sunrise, returning to a place you once knew

Characters:

Jeremiah (narrator - 21) | gentle, thoughtful, nostalgic, devoted, wistful, romantic, sad, brokenhearted

Excerpt:

On the evening Jeremiah decides he’ll drive thirty hours to Maryland, the other half of his mattress is cold and Madonna’s on the radio. In his bedroom, he taps his cigarette on the windowsill, the ash scattering into rainy blue hour, and listens. Time goes by so slowly, she goes, her voice singed through his boombox’s broken speakers. He’s meant to replace it, though he’s meant to do a lot of things: check the mail, make a quiche, buy lightbulbs, call his sister, take up cross-stitch, recycle an olive jar, move his bed to the opposite side of his room. But time goes by so slowly, and Jeremiah would know—he’s twenty-one, yet feels he’s been alive for much, much longer.

Fankidtober 2023 Day 25 - Rosette

Shadow Creature!Lonan doesn't actually interact with Rosette (probably), since there's no reason for it to be attracted to her. The Lonan of Mainverse died before Rosette was even born, and Rosette doesn't have any innate supernatural ability to attract a spirit.

BUT I still think about how the Lonan that would have been Rosette's fated partner (from a meta standpoint) had he not died, is now some dead spirit creature thing and isn't there something to that. What remains of what could have been. If there would still be a connection. I've always seen it that both are her "soulmate" in a sense, since if both Rosettes are Lonan's "soulmate," the reverse must hold true for Rosette. One version of their relationship (or lack thereof in Rosette's case) is just doomed for each of them.

Again, nothing comes of it in canon, but I still think about it sometimes.

Trein: *Smiles into his tea amused*

Crowley: I am aren't I?

Zakai: Yes!

Trein: Zakai, drink your milk

Zakai: Sorry! *Grabs the cup of milk, quickly taking a sip*

Trein and Crowley: *Chuckles, watching him*

"So let's paint the sky"

Zakai: *Lays asleep, Malleus carrying him to bed*

Malleus: *Lays the child down and pats their head* Goodnight..

Lilia: *Tucks Zakai in* Sweet dreams, you've had a fun filled day

Zakai: *Smiles, hugging his stuffed wolf*

Lilia: *Chuckles*

can we talk about the really edgy scene i just pulled out of my ass

girl you don't even know how hyped up and happy i felt while writing this

Sunset like sweet honey dripped down into the pine trees that cusped the shoreline. I drifted along the sandy pavement on my bike, my hair flittering over my shoulders. The sun hadn’t quite disappeared over the horizon line; and Point Blink was not yet asleep. New energy buzzed through my body like sugar as I rode further away from home. I needed to know more. I felt like I couldn’t rest until I did. The only thing that stopped me from delving deeper into Lonan’s past was respect for my friend. I wouldn’t go behind his back. I didn’t want to freak him out. After all, I trusted him. Turning my sore curiosity into frustration, I sped past Mothouse, down the grassy hill, and onto the beach. The sand was cold when I jumped off my bike, shoving it onto the bike rack. Narrowly, it missed and rang sharply out into the night when metal scratched against metal. Leaving it where it lay, I used the tip of my foot to tug my shoes off and kick them somewhere into the swaying yellow grass. I cast a forlorn look at the bike, as though it were a person I’d come to resent over time. My overall straps came undone easily, then my shirt. Somewhere, my phone was ringing. I ignored it, throwing my clothes onto a rock. My toes flicked up sand as I marched down to the water. Something like a scream burned in the back of my throat. Filled up my chest, bright like a rising sun. I didn’t care that I was alone. I didn’t care that Madison and Oliver had let me leave the party early. I didn’t care if Dad was worried about me. I didn’t care what Lonan was doing. I didn’t care what the kids at school thought about me. I didn’t care why Jude wanted to be my friend. I didn’t want to care so much anymore. A brisk wind barreled into me from behind, pulling the last of the warmth from my body before I plunged into the brackish water and disappeared for a very long time.

#okok this is still is YA book this is probably the most edgy thing in the whole book AND it might not stay #but this is the kind of emotional stuff i need to write every once in a while to stay excited about the story #so it's important that i wrote this yanno #anyways i feel like i just drank seven cofffees #time to have a nice day!#bye #love yall #<3 #nothing in particular and everything #my writing
