153.
Rayla is back a week, maybe two weeks, and honestly, Opeli is not happy about it. It was too easy, she thinks, too forgiving. When she came home with the boys the first time, it was fine because they promised she was their friend and had nothing to do with King Harrow's death and Callum obviously loved her with all of his heart. Opeli was willing—and happy—to sort of adopt her into the royal family, just another orphan, another child needing a home, and then she left and—
Well. Callum and Ezran might be happy to let such a thing slide, but she is not. She did not watch Callum break two years ago for Rayla to come sidling back in like nothing happened. She did not watch him mope around the castle, miserable and heartbroken, for Rayla to return without even an apology to him. Opeli stands for Justice, and Justice will not be denied.
When they return from the Sea of the Castout, Aaravos' shining prison in Ezran's arms in need of somewhere safe to hide, Opeli welcomes the boys back gladly, relieved that they're safe and they're home once more, but she regards Rayla coolly and does not offer her the same warmth. Rayla shuffles a little under her glare, but she says nothing about it.
It's not until dinner that evening that anyone mentions it at all.
"We do not keep weapons at the table," Opeli says crisply, when Rayla takes a seat, resting her mentor's bow against the chair next to her—the same bow that Rayla broke into Callum's office to steal; the same again that killed King Harrow.
Rayla withers a little, her eyes on the floor, even as she gets up again to put it away, but Callum sets a hand at her elbow and glares back.
"Since when?" he demands. "Soren doesn't put his sword away for meals."
"Soren is captain of the Crownguard," says Opeli. "There are reasons for him to carry weapons, and none so good for this elf—"
"Her name is Rayla, Opeli, and she can do what she wants."
"Prince Callum, if I may—"
"No!" Callum slams a hand against the table, rattling the silverware in his wake. "Don't think I haven't noticed! You've been kind of an ass to her since she came back and it's not okay! What the hell's the problem?"
Opeli scowls at him, affronted. "Language like that is not appropriate for a prince and high-mage—"
"And the way you've been acting isn't appropriate for a high cleric," snaps Callum. "The castle is Rayla's home, the same as the rest of us. Back off."
It comes off like an order and Callum's eyes are hard, so Opeli ducks her head and mutters an apology to him without further argument, but she sees Rayla shift uncomfortably all the same and is pleased to know that she has not let herself off the hook so easily. It's still a surprise, though, when, just before bed, there is a knock on Opeli's office door.
Opeli rises and blinks to find Rayla on the other side of it looking guilty and uneasy but there all the same.
"Can we talk?" she asks, and Opeli nods stiffly if only because she doesn't know what else to say. She steps back to let Rayla in, and Rayla waits until she's seated again before she takes a seat herself. She takes a breath. "Did I do something wrong?" she asks at last.
"You tell me," says Opeli, her lips thin.
Rayla pauses and fiddles with her fingers. "I know it's not just about the bow," she says after a moment. "I just... I don't want to keep causing trouble. You've all been so kind to let me stay here but—"
"If you leave again, you will not be forgiven," snaps Opeli, and then she scolds herself for making it so obvious, for giving it away at all. She wrinkles her nose and presses on. "My duty is to Lady Justice and to the Crown, Rayla, and I will not see either insulted by someone so cruel. Do you know what you did to him? Do you know how broken he was in your absence? And for you to come back thinking all would be fine, and then to break into his office to steal that bow, and then to leave again—"
"I'm sorry, okay?" says Rayla at last. "I mean it. I can't do that to him again, Opeli, it killed me the first time, and I knew the whole time—"
"Why do it then? Why be so selfish?"
"Because—" Rayla swallows and looks away. "I just didn't want him to get hurt. And we left for the Bookery, and ran into so much trouble and he got hurt anyway, for me, and I—" She sucks in a breath. "I'm sorry I hurt him. I'm sorry he keeps getting hurt. I just... want him to be safe."
Opeli says nothing for a moment. She studies the way Rayla curls in on herself, shoulders bowed with grief and guilt and regret. And for all her devotion to Lady Justice, for all her talk about Justice not being denied, Opeli sighs, pulls another teacup from her desk drawer, and slides it across the desk.
"You and I have that in common," she says, pouring Rayla some tea. "And I see that all he wants is the same for you."
"I—" Rayla flushes. "He shouldn't."
"That choice is his to make," says Opeli. "Have you made yours?"
Rayla presses her lips together and nods, her eyes shut to dam up the moisture welling at the corners. "Yes," she promises. "I can't do that to him again, Opeli. I won't. I mean it."
"I should hope not," says Opeli. "Drink your tea. It's not so comforting when it's cold."

UR AARAVOS ALPHABET WAS AWESOME AJSJJSSJ WOULD U BE WILLING TO WRITE SMUT FOR HIM? LIKE IDK MAYBE SOMETHING WITH A SIZE KINK AND OVERSTIM??? CUZ I AM 5 FT TALL AND THAT MAN COULD PROB SPLIT ME IN HALF (and i would let him😇)
Aaravos x afab!reader
CW-overstimulation, size difference, mating press, and one sexy elf
(btw, I don't use this account often so go to @l4nk4d43 for more content! I will also post this there!)
This ain't proofread so yea 😭😭
NSFW BELOW
Isn't aaravos like 6'6? Omg he's so tall, and he likes to take that advantage against you. You're in your shared bed with him, sweating and panting. "Aaravos!" You call out as he keeps licking against your folds.
"Stop whining. isn't this what you wanted?" he mumbles against your heat. You earlier asked your sweet lover, Aaravos, if he could eat you out. And like the good lover he is, he promised to leave you more than satisfied that night. Aaravos has now been eating you out for the last hour.
Sucking at your sore clit and moving his tongue up and down, making you wither underneath him. Your hands grasp onto his horns as he goes in deeper, his face covered in your wetness. "Darling, you know my horns are sensitive" he says, muffled by your sweet pussy. "It's too much!~" you cry out, tears staining your puffy cheeks.
You've lost count of how many times you've orgasmed in the past hour due to his long, skillful tongue. You try to push his head away to get a break but his arms grab your's. "It's too much when I say it's too much" he growls, moving up to your face. "Now be a sweet little human for me and take me." After that he moves his hard cock at your entrance. "Ngh!~ aaravos!" You move your hands around his neck pulling him close.
"Shh my darling, I'll be gentle…" with that he thrust inside, earning a moan from you. He pace starts slow, adjusting to your size. "No matter how many times I fuck your cunt it's always so tight!" He whispers in your ear trying to hold back a moan himself. His hand goes to your hip and using his spare, caresses your hair. "When I say I will leave you more than satisfied," his pace quickens "I mean it" he groans as he thrust in your pussy.
His much larger form kept you from moving to much, his weight pressing you against the wet, silk sheets. You cry out his name again, tears spilling and drool running down your lips. He kisses you, tasting your slick from the previous activities. You move yours hands to touch his hair. A lewd and lust takin look upon Aaravos's face is what you see yet, so affectionate. "Darling, can I," he huffs "can I move your legs up more?" He ask with pleading eyes, you nod your head as he sits up more and presses your legs to your chest, putting you in a mating press.
"Fuck, your gonna make me come so fast" he says, slight whining. He bites his lip as he goes faster, his pelvis hitting yours each thrust. "Aaravos, I'm close, ah!~ so close!" You moan out. "Oh, yea? You want to release over my cock? Look at you, nothing but a human in heat." He smirks and places a hand on your cheek. "And I thought you would've passed out by now from how much your were saying it was too much?" He coos at you.
His thrust began to get sloppy and his breath hitches more. Your legs shake as the knot in your stomach finally snap, clenching around his dick. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, Ah!" He cums inside you, only riding out his high for a few more seconds. He breathes heavily and looks at you. "You did so well darling" he moves his hand through your hair "5 minute break, let's get you some water, that must have taken a lot of energy" he gets up and wipes himself off, walking to another room the return with a glass of water that you happily drink. "Now, time for round two~" he sings as he climbs up on top of you again.

Aaravos's prison
I think I know where/what Aaravos's prison is
(MAJOR spoilers for season 5)
((ps this is my first post/theory so I'm sorry if it's a mess))
In episode 9 (of season 5 oc) we see a large statue of Aaravos and the Jailer, well I think that's actually him, and the magic pearl(?) is his soul, he's basically trapped in both mind and body.
we've seen characters turn to stone before, ie Avizandum, and a lot in promotional things, and even the new intro with Viren who ends up dying this season, so this could be a hint.
in ep 4 in the bookery the poem they'er looking at says 'Laureloin was no more' But they also call the startouch immortal and undying, Callum just assumes 'no more' means death, but what if it's nothing else? Say separating a soul/consciousness from a body? Aaravos seems to project his consciousness and consciousness throughout the seasons (and Viren's in the 5th) when he's in his ghosty spectral form, something I assume that's star magic because it doesn't fit the other arcanum accept maybe moon.
arguable the best evidence for this is what happened to Janai's grandmother "I swallowed her" so this man either fork and knife ate her, shrunk her, or his actually body is big enough where he can just do that.
and as I said before about imagery, this season stepped it up A LOT, and during promotions we see a lot of Aaravos holding, and puppeteering characters, maybe another hint?
if Aarvos is actually that big, that would kinda make sense in the scale of the world. What I mean is, there's some animals/creatures that are just MASSIVE, I understand it being a fantasy, but when I first saw the size of arch dragons I was like ???, but if the world was originally made by startouch elves the sizes make sense, the hermit crab Sealegs, the amblers (the big camel animal thing in the desert episode season 3 ep 5) would be to scale if they really are that massive
also if you follow the dragon prince on instagram (maybe on twitter too? idk don't have it) on their website they'll post short stories, one centered around Aaravos implies his fall to Xaida made The Lake of Outcast, and if that's true, the impact of something that big would make a big crater and name make a lot of sense.
also less of evidence but maybe not? a while ago, before the character charts where released someone in a panel said Aaravos was the biggest character, there was a meme going around that he's bigger than Avizandum, but what if he actually is?
as for the pearl being his soul, the only thing I really got is separating the soul from the body making him 'no more' and the fact when he does magic his eyes are white and iridescent like pearls are.
So what does that mean in the future? Hopefully an epic final battle, but also I have a few predictions. The next step the crew is going to take is going after the Novablade/Starscraper, I think it's literally going to be a massive sword. And going a little off the rails a little bit, I love the idea that only a startouch elf can wield it because of its size, but that could be wishful thinking, I'd love a startouch to join the crew, maybe the Jailor?? (give me more startouch lore)
anyways tell me if you have any rebuttals, evidence, or more thoughts!

The Dragon Prince's "Mercy" Motif
TDP Fam, this is so fascinating.
I made this post about the connection between two characters' names. Nothing is coincidental in this show. The creators have things mapped out for future seasons.
🚨Spoilers below! 🚨
We know this arc is called The Mystery of Aaravos, and so far - in the show, anyway - he does appear more malevolent than benevolent, using characters as pawns (Viren, Callum, Claudia) to achieve his means (freedom). He was one of the Great Ones, but he lost privilege and title, becoming known as The Fallen Star. It was revealed that he's been behind wars, manipulating leaders for centuries, and so he was locked away because he was too dangerous. (If you're reading this, you've seen the show and know all of this.)
Now...E1S6 (which was previewed at NYCC) opens with a conversation between him and another Startouch Elf. He's distraught - it's the first time we've ever seen Aaravos showing such incredibly desperate emotions. (As I've mentioned, he's being painted as a sympathetic character.)
First, you wanna make a bet these statues depict the very scene featured in S1E6?
Tumblr media
It's too perfect.
Now, this elf is called The Merciful One. As I pointed out in my other post, there is another character that is associated with mercy. You guessed it:
Tumblr media
Her story is literally called The Queen's Mercy and one of the many titles bestowed upon her (if you read the story) is Queen Aditi, the Merciful. (I've already done the math in this post here.)
Now, why is this so fascinating?
Mercy, by definition, is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. (Thanks dictionary.com.) But as we know from reading The Queen's Mercy, Aditi isn't merciful at all. She's cunning. Kim'dael goes to Aditi seeking sanctuary. What does she get in return? A Mercy Debt.
Tumblr media
Could this be considered merciful? I mean...she did not banish or harm Kim'dael. But she's trapped eternally, and literally owes her life. Kim'dael is a villainous character, no doubt - but that is not compassion or forgiveness. (Whether or not she deserves it is a different conversation.)
Now let's go back to Aaravos and the Merciful One, shall we?
If you look the images, Aaravos is clearly distraught, and yet the Merciful One appears calm, cool, collected. We can assume he's...well, granting mercy.
By what? Imprisoning Aaravos? This could very well be the moment he is imprisoned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But is it true compassion? Is it true forgiveness? Or is it, "I'm granting you something in my power because - even though it seems wrong to you - it's for the greater good." I could see Startouch Elf philosophy being cold and factual, distant and matter-of-fact - leaving no room for matters of the heart or emotions. (Doesn't this elf reference that Aaravos is in this position because of love [and I suspect has something to do with Leola]? If someone can get me their exact quote, that would be fantastic.)
This opens up a really interesting conversation regarding the term 'mercy' - because what I think is happening here is that there are two characters in power (The Merciful One and Queen Aditi) who are technically granting 'mercy' (although I am only hypothesizing based on the new Startouch Elf's name), and yet it is not at all merciful to the character. It's almost as if they're both saying, "Yeah, this sucks for you right now, but it's going to be better off for everyone else in the end." Kim'dael is 'imprisoned' by the Mercy Debt. Aaravos is literally imprisoned.
I mean, Kim'dael is in the same position as Aaravos' statue in the Sea of the Castout.
Tumblr media
I don't think this is a coincidence. I think both of these things will come back to bite our beloved Dragang. They are the ones who have to deal with the consequences, after all.
Did they deserve this treatment? For Kim'dael - I'm leaning towards yes, she is clearly a villain and has done horrific things.
And...we know that Aaravos has something to do with Aditi's disappearance.
But did Aaravos deserve this - imprisonment?
Now that is yet to be seen. And I have a feeling S6 will leave us all questions more than answers.

If you're still taking requests, how about some fluff with Aaravos reuniting with mc after escaping from the mirror
Tumblr media
Aaravos x Reader - Everyone Needs a Friend
A/N: thank you so much for your patience, Nonny! I've had a hard time with school during the pandemic, and my health has been pretty shitty, but I was so excited to do this request and I'm so happy I was able to get to it! In this, the reader is some sort of cleaner in the castle that came across Aaravos many months ago. it picks up sometime after season 3 after Aaravos has theoretically emerged from the cocoon. Not explicitly romantic, but I there's definitely some subtext (who can tell with this elf though, he comes across as such a flirt). Someone give this touch starved star touch baby some hugs!
It has been months now, and I am still heartbroken. I do not know where Lord – King? The politics are confusing – Viren took the magic mirror after King Harrow’s death, but he took it somewhere I could not find nor reach. Perhaps I allowed myself to get too attached. After all, I have never even heard his voice.
Aaravos… he was the one bright spot in my life. I am not sure he meant to reveal himself to me that day I was cleaning the study, but ever since then, he became one of my dearest friends. He offered me a way to hear him, and in hindsight, I wonder if I should have taken the chance, but I cannot do magic. We settled for written notes to each other. His: a glowing elegant script that floated in the air, and mine: messy scrawls on whatever ink and spare paper I could find.
He particularly seemed to enjoy hearing about humanity, about the five kingdoms and our advancements. It seems he has been in that mirror an exceptionally long time. It is heartbreaking to think how lonely he must have been, and I so desperately wished to help him, but I have no power to do so. All I could do is provide a little company.
I hope he is not lonely wherever Viren took him. Now that the temporary king is dead… does anyone else know where the mirror could be? Or will he be alone again? What if he is lost forever? Perhaps I should go looking for him? But wherever Viren hid himself for whatever dark magic he practiced, it was somewhere none of the castle guards could find him. What hope do I have?
Today is the first day going back into Viren’s old study. Once the armies marched on Xadia, it did not need as regular a cleaning. I wonder what the room will become now that he is dead. First things first, it needs a decent dusting.
Being here makes me think of the elf, of his sparkling cheeks that glowed when he smiled, of his golden eyes that so often twinkled with mischief, and my heart aches all over again.
A couple spiders have made their home in one of the high corners of the room. I climb a ladder and begin my work at clearing out the cobwebs. The door to the study remains closed, but a moment later I hear someone clear their throat in introduction. I whirl around in surprise a little too fast, my precarious position on the ladder causing me to fall.
I land in a warm embrace, and for a moment all I can see is a deep purple fabric covering the chest of my rescuer. “I apologize, I did not mean to startle you,” he says. His voice is deep and smooth, and he speaks softly in my ear. I lift my eyes to the speaker and find a face I thought I would never see again.
How is he here?
I feel my mouth curve into a smile mirroring his as Aaravos looks at me with a certain fondness in his eyes. I brush my knuckles along his sparkling cheek, barely believing my eyes. When he speaks again, I realize I could listen to that sound for the rest of my life. I had not imagined his voice to rumble with such a melodious baritone, but it suits him. “You did not think I was gone forever, did you?”
I have half a mind to slap that pretty face for how cavalier he is about this. I settle for a gentle smack to his arm. “I was worried about you, you jerk!”
Aaravos laughs, pulling me closer in his embrace. “Finally, I hear your voice. It is as lovely as you are.” He pulls back to look in my eyes again, cupping my cheek in his hands.
Now that I have found my voice after my initial shock, every question I have comes spilling from my lips. “What happened? Where did you go? How did you escape the mirror? How did you get here?”
Aaravos only seems to half-listen to my questions, his hands gliding along my shoulders to stroke down my arms as if I am some miracle to examine. He takes my hands in his. I feel so ordinary next to him, my simple flesh contrasted by his sparkling lilac fingers. But maybe I am something interesting in his eyes. Those that live in the plains are fascinated by the mountains. Those that spend their whole lives inland are amazed by the sea. I can only hope that I am interesting by being so different from him, I suppose.
The elf brings my hands to his lips with a ghost of a kiss to my knuckles. He glances at me, then moves his eyes away as if shy. “It is a long story. Perhaps I could tell you on our journey?”
I tilt my head. “Journey?”
He murmurs my name then clears his throat. “When I escaped my prison, I emerged in Xadia, and I will have to return soon. I do not… that is… I have not had the luxury of friendship in a few hundred years, if ever. You have been a friend to me, and I thought I would return the favor... and take you with me.”
I let out a slight laugh at the thought. “So… you came all this way and found me because you want to be my friend?”
Aaravos’s cheeks turn a deep violet and he frowns. “You make it sound frivolous.”
I laugh out of sheer joy and throw my arms over his shoulders and hug him. “I missed you,” I mumble into his chest.
Aaravos chuckles. “You told me you have never been outside your hometown, and I am curious how the world has changed in the last few centuries. What do you say we see it together?”
“I’m insulted you think you even have to ask,” I respond.
Aaravos grins and takes my hand, leading me out the secret passageway he took to find me. We exit the castle hand in hand, and I feel Aaravos leaning into my shoulder as we walk, as if he has never had a hand to hold.
I lean back into him, resting my head on his shoulder for a moment. I am happy to be that person for him, happy to be needed for nothing more than my company, happy to be a friend to a lonely elf.
And I do not tell him how much I needed a friend, too. I just enjoy the tale he spins of his adventures since he saw me last.

Any hc about our sparkly elf, Aaravos?
If not him, Runaan and Ethari?
OHHHH YES
OH YES INDEEDY
you see, I rp Aaravos, which means he likes to talk in my head even when I would rather he shut up so I can go to sleep. And he has Lots Of Opinions. Occasionally I learn things he’d rather I not know, and that’s where I build from.
okay! Headcanons!!
Due to his experiences, Aaravos doesn’t just hate Avizandum, he’s actually dracophobic.
He’s aroallo-- aromantic and allosexual (pan, usually). (I’m not entirely certain if I show that well in my rp, since Aaravos is so different from me. We’re both arospec, so that probably helps, but he’s allo and I’m ace and the blog is SFW, so idk anything lmao)
Yeah, Aaravos is good at flirting, but it’s never anything serious, you know? Flirting =/= attraction, and in fact flirting = no attraction. He’ll flirt with anything and anyone, but when he flusters and doesn’t quite know what to say, when he cuts the nicknames and teasing? That’s when you know he’s fallen.
Nicknames are just how he talks. He doesn’t bother remembering names unless they’re important to him. He’s sort of like Diana Wynne Jones’s Chrestomanci/Christopher Chant in that, except instead of calling Mr. Baslam “Mr. Bislow” he’d call him “dark mage.” He’ll use nicknames anytime on anyone, but name-names are only for people he respects/cares about. So he might call the dragon king “Avizandum,” because as much as he hates him, Avizandum imprisoned him, and  Aaravos can’t help but respect the power it took to imprison him, an Archmage. (I still haven’t convinced him to call Amaya by her name, even though he says he respects her. Wait a sec--)
Revised nickname headcanon: He uses names when he feels close to someone. Not just respect, though that has something to do with it. Names aren’t something he takes lightly.
Okay, this got long, so there are two dozen more headcanons under the cut. They’re just in the order I thought of them, so they kind of jump around a bit, sorry. Angst and fluff.
Aaravos is basically a faerie. Not fairy like Tinkerbell; faerie like the high fae, like Oberon, Titania, and Puck. He’s extremely powerful, ethereally beautiful (though not all fae are), and he’s very careful with his wording.
Either Aaravos can lie and simply doesn’t, or he cannot lie and doesn’t want that to be known. (I choose to ignore the option of “he was lying when he said he never lies” because that hurts my brain.) “I’m not lying. I never lie.” Never, not cannot, which. Details, details.
He was betrayed. He ended up in the mirror because he was betrayed. They drugged him to seal away his magic so Avizandum could imprison him. I have several scenes of this in my head, but @alls-fair-in-pride-and-prejudice and I are using this is TSATS so I don’t want to give too much more away.
Ziard was Aaravos’s apprentice. They were kind of like Halt and Will in Ranger’s Apprentice. Only they invented dark magic together and Halt and Will didn’t use magic.
Dark magic causes nightmares until you learn it, if you don’t have training. Aaravos’s nightmares? The other Startouch elves leaving.
He’s afraid of being alone. He used to like it, spending hours and days and weeks alone with his books quite happily. But after he literally could not interact with anyone for three hundred years, he’d break if he had to be alone again.
He actually did break during those centuries. Multiple times. Screaming, crying, throwing things, trying to break things, windows, the mirror, anything. Even himself.
They’re antlers, not horns. Horns are one point, you get one (1) set for life, like adult teeth. Antlers have branches, and you get a new set every year. Aaravos... has feelings about this.
Startouch elves spoke like a Shakespeare play. This one’s kind of silly, and entirely based around the line, “Yes, it’s well appointed, but make no mistake, this has been my prison these past few centuries!” and me thinking that “well appointed” sounded very Shakespearean and he could just as well have said “Yes, it’s quite nice, but make no mistake” etcetera (and a bit that I keep wanting to write “thou” when writing him lately). Anyway. Moving on.
Aaravos is a good animal trainer. He’s got the patience for it, and he’s smart. He’s probably trained lots of animals, of many different species. Clicker training, probably; definitely primarily positive reinforcement.
The horse? Is not a horse. It’s a couch. (I only go in for this one because I love the image of Aaravos jumping around on his couch like a little kid, draping himself all over the room. Funnily enough, how he rides is entirely plausible, given that I’m not even drinking age and I can ride my horse very similarly to how Aaravos rides. He’s millennia older than me; he could absolutely ride like that.)
Aaravos killed Queen Aditi and Queen Luna Tenebris. That’s a big reason why he was imprisoned. Yeah, the dark magic was part of it, but Ziard lived 1,000 years ago and Aaravos was only imprisoned 300 years ago. Either he managed to evade the authorities for 700 years, or something else was the tipping point. Maybe a bit of both.
Aaravos has killed a lot of people, for various reasons. Sometimes for revenge (I’d like to think Aditi killed Ziard, which is why Aaravos went after her), sometimes just for being in his way (he discarded the poor Sunfire priest way too casually).
If he really cares about someone, he will kill for them? Die for them? Nah, not really, he’d have to be absolutely crazily stupid with love for that. Kill for them? Absolutely, any day.
Oh and he does the murderously protective thing where he’s like, “Oh, and if anyone hurts you do let me know. I will be happy to talk to them about that. 💖🔪😇 ”
He doesn’t like children. Like, there are a few he cares about, but by and large he’s like “children? ugh, no, yuck.”
He doesn’t fall in love easily, but when he does, he is in love. Period, fullstop.
For all his flirting and teasing, he knows how to respect no. I mean. Look at Xadia’s culture. Being queer is a total nonissue, women are actually treated as equal to men. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s hella better than here. Aaravos grew up in Xadia. He’s gonna respect people as people. Will he flirt insanely with everyone, whether they’re into him or not? Yeah. If he talks, he flirts. Will he make a move on someone who doesn’t want him to? No.
He loves cats. Need I say more?
He didn’t get any kind of trial, no chance to defend himself, to tell his side of the story. He was just betrayed and imprisoned.
Aaravos’s arrogance and vanity is a cover over some major self-esteem issues. Maybe he didn’t always have those, but during his imprisonment there were times he believed that he deserved it. That he was a monster, a soulless demon (like they said he was), and he didn’t deserve freedom. That he had no heart, that all he could do was hurt people, and anytime he tried to help he only ended up hurting more. Destruction and tragedy was all he could bring. He’d try not to believe that, forcing himself to remember good things he’d done, telling himself over and over again that he can help people he’s not a monster he’s not-- and he just. can’t. because he’s tried to help, yes, he saved Elarion and he killed for those he loved, but he killed, and not always to protect, and he even enjoyed it. He knows he’s done bad things, but he enjoyed them. Maybe he did deserve to be put in here, alone. Because if he deserved it, maybe when he’s suffered enough to atone he can be free, but if he was truly unjustly imprisoned then there will be no freedom. And this doesn’t make sense, and he knows it’s illogical, so he pulls on a mask of pride and confidence, hoping ‘fake it til you make it’ will work eventually, but underneath. Aaravos. Is. Broken.
Aaravos likes humans in general more than elves in general. They tend to be less judgey at him and they look up to him. Nice ego boost there, the admiration.
He also likes animals, especially now. They don’t judge him based on any criteria a human, elf, or dragon might use. They just care how he personally treats them specifically, and he’s good to them so they love him. They don’t ask anything more of him than that, no relentless demands on his time, and they can just happily coexist in companionable silence. Humans tend to be less good at that.
His favorite fiction books are romance novels. He does like the different ones, the cliche-benders that turn tropes on their heads, but sometimes there’s nothing like curling up with a cheesy, predictable, well-loved story and a cup of hot chocolate.
So, anon, this live up to your expectations?

Impressions from TTM
Spoilers, spoilers everywhere. Just a big bulleted list of thoughts as I read through the graphic novel. Not a lot of detail included, so it’ll make a lot more sense if you’ve already read it yourself!
looks like Moonshadow elves cross the arms of the dead... when they have a body to bury
it’s nice to see that Rayla imagines Runaan with all his shirts, the way she last saw him
kinda looks like Rayla changed into her jammies right on her bed and dumped her clothes on that little table. maybe she’s afraid of letting the few things she actually possesses out of her sight
listen we get one little panel of Opeli in here and it’s great
Soren’s cape smacking Callum in the face, 10/10
Lujanne’s appearance out of nowhere, along with Allen’s is just adorable, she’s so sparkly. And also she can apparently just turn totally invisible with an illusion spell? Even at a new moon? Probably because of the Nexus I guess
Lujanne’s “Big strong man with big strong feelings.” She and Runaan have exactly the same type and I support them
Allen’s face when Lujanne says it aches to miss Phoe-Phoe
Callum eating off Rayla’s plate and wondering how Lujanne suspected they were a couple, hmmm
Soren and Allen bonding
Rayla warning Lujanne about hand disguises, as if that was something Runaan made very sure she knew
Rayla’s cute chaos grin when Callum’s Aspiro spell goes off is my favorite pic of her in this whole graphic novel
Lujanne’s “Oh.” afterward is my fave pic of her, too, she does not seem to handle reality well!
Bait’s tongue will never get old
Lujanne’s whole speech during Phoe-Phoe’s rebirth ritual is so touching and beautiful, my heart
Lujanne putting the newborn Moon Phoenix into Ezran’s hands, like she knows he’ll have the best connection with her
Callum’s tears as he reminds Rayla that Runaan killed Harrow, he’s trying to move on, but it hurts
Rayla’s self-soothing behavior when she has her second nightmare in the book--she must have these most every night :((((
the big symbol on the Moon Temple doors looks like a stylized Moon staff, like it’s a building for mages
Lujanne saying Rayla might not want or need the truth right after Callum mentions Runaan’s name to her, he sassily asks about her husbands and she turns it into a compliment
Callum’s big reaction to the moon opals is adorable. The only other one he’s seen was part of a pair of treasured gifts between long-time spouses, so it kinda looks like he’s all “uhh we just started dating”
also Ethari must’ve made cute metal swirly covers for the pair he and Runaan wore, since these two are undecorated--maybe he got his from Lujanne?
listen Lujanne is a hoot and all but she’s both an ally and an antagonist. Her actions are trustworthy but her advice is generally terrible. It’s an interesting parallel to how Runaan says a lot with his actions too, but he talks a lot less than Lujanne
Rayla yeeting herself into a fight just to ask Soren for a talk is 10/10 Moonshadow assassin goals
but her hood is up when she’s lurking in the trees--she might not have known where she’d find Soren and was anticipating something less fun on the feels-o-meter
Rayla in the mud again. Soren keeps making people fall in the mud
Allen’s grumpy squiggle
Callum, I love you, but you have no respect for moon opals. It’s like they wronged you in a previous life or something
that dancing elf has very long hair and shoulder pauldrons, and they start off dancing with six kneeling, watching, hooded elves around them--Moon Druids wore hoods even before they were assassins. Considering what Lujanne said about why the portal was sometimes opened, maybe those six kneeling elves are waiting under their emotion-hiding hoods to farewell a loved one who’s recently died?
can’t tell for sure but maybe the elf is dancing along the lines in the stone like they mark patterns for ritual dances, which would be the bomb
Soren and Rayla’s conversation is pretty wrenching. Seeing Soren have to struggle with what he did because it’s tangled up with Viren is rough because as a Crownguard it should just have been his duty to defend his king and he’d have nothing to feel weird about
Rayla dissociating herself from the term “assassins” and Soren dissociating from calling Viren “my father” in the same conversation is 10/10 excellent growth
Soren must know what happens to prisoners his dad gets a hold of, even if he doesn’t know the details :(((
“we captured him” and “Viren took him” seem to be talking about the Crownguard and Viren, not the brodigies and Viren
Rayla having a wooden sword at the end of the day bc she played swordfighting with Allen and Soren all day long
the panel where Rayla doesn’t say anything at all after telling Callum that she asked Soren about Runaan actually says so much, you can hear it
every time Lujanne’s white lies idea gets repeated, things get worse
Allen’s reading glasses, there must be one optician in the human village and he caters to soft kindly gentlemen of a certain age
in the moon phase montage, baby Phoe-Phoe is flying next to Ezran after one week at the Nexus. Maybe he’s paying her back by helping her learn to fly after she helped him teach Zym how to fly! Did they bond as tightly as Ezran did with Zym? I support Ezran just bonding with the most powerful flying creatures in all the land.
the irony of Callum using Lujanne’s tactics against her is amazing, but really the white lies thing is a giant ball of chaos in this story and it does not play favorites
Bait on the stone pillar during rebuilding
all the noises the Moonhenge makes are 10/10
Rayla dancing with Callum even though there’s almost no chance she’s ever done that dance before
Lujanne’s pupils going white, that is a cool effect, what’s it mean?
the black moon in the pink sky is so spooky! Is it just me or does the color scheme here kinda vibe like the space outside Aaravos’s library?
the smoky assassin squad, 10/10 creep factor, I love it
the lightning being a literal crack of doom with “CRAK-DOOM” as Katolis Castle appears, “echoes of thunder” indeed, very nice
Lujanne being mad but she can’t decide if it’s at Callum or herself
when she says pulling Rayla out now will leave her soul on one side and her body a husk. After the Insta live stream last night where we learned that soulfang serpents are Moon primal creatures, that’s... super interesting
smoky assassins go tssh in the rain like they’re still hot from being cremated, thanks I hate it
Andromeda finds Rayla first and seems closest/most aggressive so I wonder why she might hate Rayla more than the others
the assassins’ wrist bindings have gone red but they’re still attached and seem to trap the souls where they are. But all they need to be free is to perceive that Rayla completed their task, even though we know otherwise. So... would that work for killing any target? If you’re certain that you did it, does your binding fall off even if you’re wrong? eyes Pip
this must not be the actual afterlife since the spirits kind of mist up toward the moon and vanish, it’s more like a lobby, no one stays here unless they get stuck
portaling around just by shouting at villains, excellent
Rayla literally dropping a sword at the sight of the pod Viren’s in, yeah, it’s that creepy, I agree
Viren’s eyes are so black I think they’re Aaravos’s. I got a whole headcanon on Good Viren and Evil Viren for S4 now, wow
Phoe-Phoe pulling out a feather for Callum, awww my heart! This is why Ezran had to come, to bond with her so together they could save Callum and Rayla, it’s so sweet
so these humans are from the Storm Spire battle, bc that’s the Storm Spire behind Rayla and Callum on p108, with the rune-written arch. Did they die hating Rayla and Callum from the battle? Did they even know Rayla was up there? Or is pod Viren/Aaravos actually making them attack out of hatred for Viren’s death? One of these is definitely creepier and more awesome
Rayla’s confidence that Callum can and will boost her at the right moment with his magic, my heart, I love battle couples
that one panel that mirrors the Ghost Feather key art, hhhhhh
Rayla being the better swimmer, such precious irony, thanks Runaan
them holding hands and swimming upward together on the full-page panel is blessed
Lujanne pulling Rayla out of the lake with both arms gives me feels bc my grandma saved my life once
Lujanne being super soft over Rayllum, she is indeed a hopeless romantic
Rayla says “gone” about her parents and Runaan, and that’s the word Ethari used too, and I’m suddenly wondering if Ethari reached right into that pool and has always known that the lotus is half-submerged and if the sword he’s been making is for himself
I’m so glad Rayla told Callum what she saw of Viren
Rayla deceiving Callum and heading into danger alone because his life is more valuable to her than her own is exactly what Runaan did for her the night of the full moon in Katolis. I’m leaning toward her having thought this over and doing it on purpose bc she believes it’s a sign of deepest love--that Runaan’s actions and Lujanne’s words match up in her head, so she thinks it’s the right thing to do bc the mage and the assassin agree. Alas, Callum doesn’t understand the Moon arcanum yet, so he will have a different opinion. That mage and that assassin do not agree!
Rayla’s cloak has that Moon Temple symbol on its back. Is it Lujanne’s cloak? Any Moonshadow who sees it will probably know where she got it and who helped her. That could be fun!

What did Harrow know?
Reading Callum’s Spellbook, I’m left with an unavoidable conclusion: King Harrow knew way more about Callum and his potential with magic than he let on.
Tumblr media
Harrow: “I thought it was time you had a real sketchbook. I hope you’ll fill it with not only your drawings but your dreams for the future too, because I have a feeling you have great things inside you, and I can’t wait to see you discover them.”
Tumblr media
Callum: “Why did my stepdad want me to have the cube?...He gave me this notebook all those years ago, and now it’s become my spellbook. Maybe he knew I was a mage even before I did.”
It’s interesting how heavily it’s hinted that Harrow knew of Callum’s magical potential, to the extent that he encouraged his artistic talents years in advance, knowing full well how important drawing is for spellcasting. But at the same time, in spite of Callum’s clear interests in learning magic, Harrow never had Viren train him. So, it seems apparent that Harrow wanted Callum to learn Primal Magic but to steer clear of Dark Magic and put him in the best possible position to unlock this “great power in Xadia.”
On top of that, the show reveals that Harrow knew more about Aaravos than even Viren did! When the Startouch elf mentions his name, it doesn’t ring any bells for Viren. He has to go look him up in the library, only to come up short when all historical references of him simply get obscured. As Aaravos tells him, “my name would mean nothing to you.”
But to Harrow, it does: “…an elven wizard in Xadia, the Archmage Aaravos, a master of all six primal sources.”
So, how did Harrow know all of this? What else did he know, and how was he aware of Callum’s potential before anyone else?
To understand this, we have to think back to Harrow’s most famous ancestor—the Orphan Queen.
Tumblr media
Not much is known about her-- She takes a dangerous journey to Xadia and ends up saving the world.  She’s Ezran and Harrow’s first royal ancestor (and perhaps inspired the rule that only orphans may be selected when choosing a new royal line).
We also know that she lived roughly three hundred years ago, around the same time as two other iconic events—the beginning of Avizandum’s reign, and “the Fallen Star.”
Tumblr media
The “Era of Avizandum” is closely linked to “the Fallen Star”—the downfall and imprisonment of Aaravos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, it’s reasonable to presume that the Orphan Queen played some role in this as well—hence how she ended up “saving the world.”
Perhaps in some way, she’s critical to the transition from Luna Tenebris’ reign to Avizandum’s, or the imprisonment of Aaravos, or perhaps both.
My hunch is that, at a time when Aaravos seemed poised to dominate the world, and reshape Xadia in his own image, she foiled this plan and helped lock him away.
She was rewarded for her heroism—gifted with a hereditary ability to communicate with animals; an ability that passed down to Ezran.
She was also gifted this cube—the “Key of Aaravos”—and asked to keep it secret, and keep it safe.
But she was also given a warning. It’s quite possible that a different Startouch mage used their power of divination to ascertain that the world was still in danger. That one day, Aaravos will return and bring the world to the brink once more.
Star Magic is associated with vision, truth, and destiny. This mage would have told the Orphan Queen of the role her family will have in stopping this future threat.
She’s asked to watch over the cube, because it carries with it the only hope of defeating Aaravos once and for all. Each of its sides corresponds to each of the Primal Sources. Only a master of all six Primal Sources, like Aaravos, can illuminate each side to unlock the cube.
“Who can possibly unlock it?” she would have asked. “One of my children, or my children’s children?”
“No,” the Startouch mage told her bluntly. “It will be several centuries before such a human will come along, and the child won’t be from your line.”
“But the child will be adopted by one of your own. A step-child, one with the soul of an artist, and the heart of a hero. Someone who’s love and courage will reveal humanity’s potential with magic to the entire world.”
Pointing at the cube, the mage continued. “Pass on my words to your descendants. You and your family will have to protect the Key until this day comes.”
And so, three centuries later, when Harrow ascended to the throne of Katolis, fell in love with Sarai, and when he married her, she brought with her a son.
Tumblr media
One with the soul of an artist.
Tumblr media
Harrow’s original idea seems to have been to gradually hone Callum’s drawing skills until he can be introduced to drawing runes and discover his talents as a mage. At which point, Harrow and Callum, and later Ezran, could work together to unlock the Rune Cube’s secrets.
But by 1x01 and 1x02, the Moonshadow elves unintentionally scuttled this plan. With Harrow’s life potentially about to be cut short, he improvised sending the boys to the Banther Lodge and leave Callum a letter with “the most important things” written down.
Important things that included, not just the nature of the Rune Cube, but that true strength can come from love, vulnerability, and forgiveness.
That history can be a narrative of love instead of a narrative of strength.
That he is free to make his own destiny. That his fate is what he makes of it.
Tumblr media
And even without Harrow alive to see Callum discover his true potential…he does so anyway—thanks to Harrow’s guidance—and reveals humanity’s potential to learn and wield magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, in Harrow’s words:

Every line Aaravos says...
In an interview Ehasz & Richmond confirm that Aaravos never lies, but..
if you understand where he’s coming from, he’s not lying about anything. But you don’t necessarily know where he’s coming from. He never lies, he always tells the truth.
So, how much is the real truth, subjective truths, alternate interpretation of words, or paltering (misleading by misrepresenting select truths)? Who knows.
But I copied all of of Aaravos’ lines from transcripts if you want to try and guess.
Some are kinda funny in hindsight -  “ Preparing you for greatness.” Just meant being able to see Aaravos, who is a Great One. (Or very impressed with his own looks).
S2E7 Fire and Fury
Viren: I'm ready. Aaravos: Speak. Viren: I - Aaravos: Speak, so I may hear you. Viren: Who- who are you? Aaravos: Ah How long I have waited to hear the sound of another voice. How may I serve you?
S2E8 The Book of Destiny
Viren: Who are you? Aaravos: My name would mean nothing to you. Viren: [sighs.] Where are you? Aaravos:  I don't know. Viren:  Don't lie to me. Aaravos:  I'm not lying. I never lie. Viren: [sighs.] I found this mirror in the lair of the Dragon King. This mirror meant something to him. You meant something to him. Aaravos: Perhaps. Tell me what you need, and I will help you. Viren: I need your name. Aaravos: Aaravos.
Viren: What's going on? Every time I found a mention of you in an ancient scroll or tome, the entire passage disappeared as soon as I looked! [sighs.] What game are you playing? [sighs.] Viren: Ugh! [sighs.] Why should I trust you? Aaravos: You shouldn't… yet.
S2E9 Breathe
Viren: I should end this right now! Throw the mirror into a river and cut you off forever. Aaravos: You won't. You are too curious. Hungry for knowledge and power. Both things I can provide. Allow me to earn your trust. Viren: And how would that work, exactly? Aaravos: Search your heart. There's something that you want very badly. But something or someone stands in your way. Viren: I- I am having a problem getting some people to listen to me, to hear the importance of what I'm saying. Aaravos: Who are these people? Viren: They are kings and queens. The leaders of the other four human kingdoms. Aaravos: Then we will have to get their attention.
Aaravos: You tried to win over the other humans with loyalty and friendship, but they ignored you. Those who fail tests of love are simple animals. They deserve to be motivated by fear. Viren: Bring terror to Del Bar to Neolandia to Evenere and to Duren!
Aaravos: You're in danger. They've come for you. Do as I tell you. Prepare for battle. Guard: Lord Viren! Open up, by order of the High Council! Aaravos: Well? Open it for them! Opeli: Surrender, Viren! Aaravos: Stop. It's over. Viren: But I can destroy them all! I have all the power I need! Aaravos: Stop! Opeli: You're completely surrounded, Viren! Give yourself up. Don't make me give the order. Viren: You have betrayed me. Aaravos: No. I will stay with you.
S3E1 Sol Regem
Aaravos: Do not despair. Be patient. Your time will come. You have put things in motion.
S3E3 Ghost
Aaravos: Get up. Get up. You have visitors coming. You're going to need to look presentable. Viren: My children. I'm so glad to see you safe. Claudia: What happened, Dad? Why are you down here? Viren: While I tried to unite the five kingdoms against Xadia, the Council was more concerned that I broke a few rules along the way. But none of that matters. The egg, did you get it? Claudia: It's not an egg anymore. It's hatched. Viren: It hatched? That dragon will become the most powerful creature in the world, and you've let it fall back into Xadia's hands? Claudia: But, Dad, Soren could've died. Viren: That doesn't matter! Soren: Dad? Viren: I do not mean to be cruel. But we must be ready to sacrifice. Even the things we love. I would have asked you to choose the egg over my life, if it came to it. Do you understand? Everything I do, and everything I ask of you, is for the future of humanity. Claudia: Is that why you told Soren to kill the princes?
Claudia: Answer me, Dad. Why did you tell Soren to kill the princes?
Aaravos: Careful. If you tell the truth, you will lose her. You will need her soon. Viren: Oh, is that what you thought, Soren? Claudia, did you really think I would ask him to do such a thing? Surely you know your brother is um, easily confused. Soren: Wait, I know I'm not the smartest, but I know what you said. Viren: Oh, really? What do you remember? Soren: You told me to return with the news that the princes died. You said, "Accidents happen all the time." Viren: Soren, I was preparing you for the worst. I knew tragedy might have already befallen them No! You said that I'd know to do the right thing. Viren: Soren. I said "do the right thing," and somehow you heard "kill the princes." Oh this is disappointing, son. Even for you. Soren: Claudia, you believe me, right? Claudia: Oh, Sor-bear. I believe you thought you heard it, but you obviously made a mistake. We're just really lucky you messed up the mission you thought you had, huh? Wow.
S3E4 Midnight Desert
Viren: What are you doing? Aaravos: Preparing you for greatness. Now, be still.
Aaravos: It is ready. Open your eye. You can hear me. And now you can see me. And I can better serve you.
S3E5 Heroes and Masterminds
Claudia: Knock knock! - Oh, who's your new friend? Viren: Don't! Do not touch it. Claudia: Sorry, Dad. I just thought it looked cute. Viren: No. I'm sorry. I'm just trying to get ready for our march on Xadia. Did you need something? Claudia:  Uh, no! I was just making sure you're okay. I mean, you are okay, right? Viren: Thank you. I'm fine. Claudia, you understand why Prince Ezran had to be removed? Claudia: Of course. He couldn't have done the things that need to be done. Viren: Others might take a crown out of self-importance, but I-
Claudia: You're doing it to help us. To help everyone. Viren: Yes. Yes, that's right. That's why I know I can count on you, Claudia. Claudia: Everything's going to be okay, Dad. I'm here for you. Aaravos: Well played. She will be a valuable asset. Viren: She is not an asset. She is my daughter.
S3E6 Thunderfall
Soren: What, you don't want me to smoosh that thing? Viren: Do not smoosh the purple creature. Think of it as my animal familiar. Soren: So, you're saying you've adopted a little bug-pal? Viren: Yes, Soren. He is my little bug-pal. Soren: I'll just ride back here with Claudia for a while. Aaravos: Has our relationship truly escalated to this new height? Am I your "little bug-pal"? We have a long journey ahead. While we travel, there is something I have been meaning to ask you. My understanding is that somehow you killed Avizandum. Viren: I've killed no such person. Aaravos: Avizandum was no person. Avizandum was an archdragon, the great king of all the dragons. The most powerful creature in the world. Yet, somehow, you brought him down. Viren: So, Avizandum was his true name. We called him Thunder.
Aaravos: Please, continue. I eagerly await the great confrontation. Viren: We did not find Thunder Avizandum where we expected to find him.
Aaravos: What an incredible story. I am delighted you took down that arrogant monster. Viren: It sounds like you have a history with Avizandum. Aaravos:  Oh, I do. He is the reason I am where I am today. Viren: And where is that? Aaravos: He never bothered to mention where he imprisoned me. Viren: You're imprisoned? Your home looks like no prison I've ever seen. Aaravos: Yes, it's well appointed. But make no mistake, this has been my prison these past few centuries.
Claudia: We're going to cross that border. After all impassable is just another kind of passable. Aaravos: Yes!
S3E7 Hearts of Cinder
Viren: So, what is the plan? Aaravos: To fulfill your wishes, of course. Is your wish to rule Xadia? Viren: I wish for humanity to flourish. And it cannot flourish with a knife forever at its throat. Aaravos: So, you wish to conquer Xadia? Viren: No! No, my goal is a bright future for humanity. Aaravos: Right. And this bright future will require us to conquer Xadia? Viren: Yes. Yes, perhaps. Aaravos: The key to achieving your noble aims for humanity is simple. It's the same as it has always been. Viren: The key is the Dragon Prince. Aaravos: Yes. You must take down the Dragon Queen and capture the baby dragon. Then you will have the attention of all the world, and the power to do what you want. But first, there is something we need here in Lux Aurea. Viren: You want us to attack the stronghold of the Sunfire elves? But we need to preserve our forces for the final confrontation. Aaravos: Viren, I'm nothing if not elegant and efficient. We'll risk as few lives as possible… one. Viren: Ah, mine. Aaravos: Yes.
Khessa: Ugh! Humans disgust me. Your kind could not be satisfied with what you were given. So you take what is not yours. You take it within you, and you turn it to filth. Aaravos: Your arrogance is so predictable. You allowed my vessel to walk right into your court, and then you brought him directly to the source of all your power? Oh, the irony is wonderful! You're just like your grandmother. Would you like to know the truth of her fate before you face yours?
(Aaravos whispers something. The second word seems to be human).
S3E9 The Final Battle
Aaravos: When you capture the dragonling, I will show you how to take his power, how to imbue yourself with all his magic and potential, so that you will transcend the limits of your human form. Then none will dare stand against you.
Aaravos: Brace yourself.
Aaravos dark magic spell: He swallows your heart. He swallows your mind. He swallows your power.

- Very large, but affectionate, “pacifist” troll currently allied with Jim Lake Jr. and friends, Toby’s ‘wingman’
Aaravos (The Dragon Prince)

- Current wielder of the Black Cat Miraculous, sheltered rich kid who just wants to be like everyone else his age
Ahanu (OC, The Untamed Wilds series)
- Centaur, American Paint Horse, Lawson’s second in command, is generally more serious and reserved than Lawson, but he has been known to crack a joke or two from time to time, and he is a force to be reckoned with if you cross him.
Aizawa (Boku no Hero/My Hero Academia)
- Pro Hero Eraserhead, teacher to Class 1-A, generally his usual mood falls in a category of “meh” and “too tired for this shit”

Ajax (OC, Ascension**)

Akabane (GetBackers)
- aka Doctor Jackal, former combat physician, has knives concealed in his body, currently works as a Transporter
Akei Okami (OC, Wolf Song)
- 23-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist with the ears and tail of a red wolf and a lot of behaviors to match, he’s working on trying to make it big, and only recently got away from an abusive, blackmailing, and rather possessive manager, but not without some of that blackmail getting spread to the public, somewhat tanking his career so far
Akira (Persona 5)
- aka Joker, generally mild-mannered and quiet, even perhaps seen as a little serious, he is genuinely friendly, Phantom Thieves’ leader (no i will not call him Ren Amamiya, i don’t like it!)

Aladi (OC, Blossoms of the Heart)
- boisterous ball of energy and enthusiasm, cute and charming human suitor to the princess, he worked as a tailor in the kingdom of Ha’adan, but had a need for adventure and so he traveled across the sea, and when he heard the call for suitors, he joined in the fun
Alekai (OC, Blossoms of the Heart)
- one of a pair of half-demon brothers from the kingdom of Tesak, usually more soft-spoken, is currently another suitor to the princess, and he usually has to act as damage control for his brother a lot of the time
Alexios (Assassin’s Creed)
- Greek assassin, snarky and pretty bold, he’s not afraid to stir up some trouble, and flirt with just about anybody
Aljunn (OC, Poison Daggers)
- Shadowman, basically a Nordic boogeyman, he’s charismatic and cunning, so far unclear motives, but he does have some rather impressive hidden abilities, so he is one to be watched out for

Amani (OC, The Lion King)
- lioness cub, enthusiastic and curious, often likes to run off and explore new places
Amon (OC, Solomon’s Key)
- a Marquis of Hell, ranked as seventh in their hierarchy, he is crass and relatively aggressive, a bit of a ‘lone wolf’ type, and that’s not said ironically, given that he is actually fairly wolf-like, and often takes the form of a wolf. His true demonic form as well, is a large werewolf-like beast standing upright as a man and with the tail of a snake
Anchor (Finding Nemo)
- a well-meaning, if maybe a little confused, hammerhead shark who’s pals with Bruce and Chum, and is a member of the FEA. “Fish are friends, not food!”
Angus (OC, untitled novel)
- a Highland bull Minotaur, he’s generally rather gentle and kind, though he does have a bit of a temper from time to time, he runs a shop in a small town and sells hardware and general goods as needed
Anik (OC, Portal Skip)
- a teenage boy of about seventeen, he along with his best friend and partner Galen, are time-jumpers as part of a task force in the future, and it’s their job to either retrieve necessary persons, gather important knowledge, or prevent certain historical disasters before they happen. He tends to be the quieter of the pair, and is more of a logical thinker, and a realist.
Anubis (OC/mythological figure, untitled novel)
- Egyptian god of death and mummification, generally rather even-tempered and understanding, but he can come across a little grumpy sometimes
Apollo (Olympos)
- overly dramatic and very bratty/needy Greek god of the sun, he likes to pester Ganymede for attention, but can also get easily offended and is very spiteful
Aramis (OC, untitled novel)
- somewhat smug and aloof male dragon, but underneath his initial impressions, he is generally a good-hearted and well-meaning individual. He.. does have a fondness for shiny things, though, so guard your jewelry and your money, and all other shiny valuables.
Archer (OC, Blossoms of the Heart)
- monkey demon, suitor to the princess, he can be a bit of an idiot from time to time, as he tends to think more with his stomach than his head, but he’s also very affectionate, if a bit overly energetic

Arno (Assassin’s Creed)
- French assassin, present during the events of the French Revolution, Arno is rather sarcastic at times, but he is actually a bit more diligent than some of his predecessors, and he takes things personally
Arqaedyn (OC, Overreach)
-
Arrow (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- A scout, and Gadget’s chosen best friend, Arrow is the more polite of the pair of them. He is clever and quick-witted, and he is certainly much more reserved than his tinker friend. But he is nothing short of charming, and he is certainly a gentleman. But he actually depends on Gadget, for most of what he does. Arrow often makes special requests for Gadget to work on. Ideas and inventions to help all scouts do their best work.
- Ultimately, Arrow is far more of a tactician than a combatant, but just because he’s more brains than brawn, doesn’t mean he can’t pack a punch and rumble with the best of them. And actually, he’s the one to watch in any fight, because he’s such a clever tactician. And perhaps he’s a bit of a show off, especially for the ladies, but he is still good-hearted and kind.

Aspen (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Well, it would be a lie to say that Aspen isn’t a bit of an odd one. An almost obsessive addiction to sweets, the tendency to appear in places no one would ever expect he’d be, and.. he carries around an odd little doll. For a winter animal talent, he’s definitely on the strange side, and everyone on the winter side knows it. And as much as they might want to question it, most choose not to. But that’s just it, there’s always more to the story than just that.
- The truth of it is, Aspen is nearly blind. He still sees shapes and movement, and maybe a bit of color, but not much else besides that. His doll is his comfort, as are sweets, and he’s gotten amazing at sneaking up on people, because he does everything he can to mask his steps so he can be sure to hear better, just in case of any danger.
- It’s actually because of his near-blindness that he also keeps companionship with a snowy owl he calls Lune. Lune keeps a lookout for him, making sure everything is safe for his vision-impaired little friend.
Asra (The Arcana)
-
Asra (OC, Black Souls Rising)
-
Asra Fisher (OC, Harry Potter)
- Ravenclaw
Asta (OC, Ascension)
-
Astaroth (OC, Solomon’s Key)
- the 29th Duke of Hell, he is a demonic entity alongside Amon and seventy-one others that hold such titles, but unlike Amon, Astaroth is exceedingly friendly and even flirtatious. He tends to favor more serpentine forms, or his ‘adorable and sexy’ human form. His true demonic form, is in fact a large, bronze-scaled naga with a line of spikes along his back. But he, among all other seventy-two Goetic demons, is very unique in one particular ability.
- Astaroth is a seer. He can see all things past, present, and future, and he answers all questions asked of him. Of course, his seer abilities are not always within his control, and he cannot always choose the when of what he sees.
Aurelio (OC, Seas of Stormfall)
- man-eating sea demon
Auren (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- A light talent with somewhat of a gruff attitude, Auren doesn’t always come across as entirely friendly, but the truth is, he’s a very relaxed and easy-going guy. He sees all his fellow talent members as family, as one big clan, and he looks out for all of them.
- Even if there’s not really any leader among light fairies, Auren still takes it upon himself to be someone all his fellow talent members can come to when they need advice or comfort, or even just a little bit of proper direction.
- Honestly, his attitude often makes him seem like he’s the leader of some sort of gang of thugs, or something like that, but honestly it’s just the way he is. He’s gruff, and a bit of a tough guy, but he’s honestly just looking out for his fellow talent members like a big brother looking out for his siblings.

Bear (OC, Neverland Fairies)
-  Gruff, pushy, and honestly a pretty solid wall of sparrowman, Bear is just as his name sounds like he’d be. He’s a little intimidating to talk to, or even to be around in general, but honestly, he’s very unlikely to hurt anyone. Well, unless someone were to seriously push their luck and actually get on his nerves.
- He’s relaxed and fairly gentle, unless he’s pushed to his limits. He is quite literally the embodiment of the phrase ‘don’t poke sleeping bears’. He’s not very social, unlike some other animal talents, and tends to spend more of his time around animals than other fairies.
- For reasons yet unclear to other fairies around them, Bear seems to have a rather aggressive and spiteful rivalry with Viper. While the two never seem to really get physical with each other, there’s never a shortage of sarcasm and insults tossed between them any time they’re in the same vicinity. Especially if they’re forced to cooperate with each other for any reason. Honestly, it’s a wonder how the two of them even started interacting in the first place, but then comes the realization that they are only around each other because they are both mutual friends of Spark.

Buer (OC, Solomon’s Key)
- the tenth Lord of Hell, and one of the Goetic demons in Bael’s company, he is generally rather mild-mannered and sociable, and is actually capable of healing injuries. Mostly, he tends to mind his own business unless he is required to be present, preferring to keep out of the way. Ultimately though, he is actually rather shy and hates large gatherings.
- Buer tends to favor more equine forms, either that of a large white stallion, or a form much akin to Sagittarius the centaur archer, the latter actually being his true demonic form, and one in which he chooses to wear a black blindfold across his eyes. He can take a human form as well, but does not do so often.

Cassius (OC, Brightwire)
- A former soldier of the Avran military, particularly as a General of the Airstrike Militia, Cassius swore never to involve himself in another war as long as he lives. The bloodshed he witnessed while involved in the battles of a decade past still haunt him, and as such is the case, he very rarely spends time among living company, and he does his best to avoid forming any attachments to any person for long.
- Over the last decade, Cassius has taken on the occupation of being a merchant of alchemical goods, among other various cargo, and he has quickly become well-known as a merchant of reputable standards and quality service. He has become acquainted (unfortunately in his opinion) with a young man named Finnian, who calls himself ‘an affordable alternative to mainstream service’, which Cassius insists is just a charismatic way to say he’s a back alley thief.
- But aside from Finnian, the elven captain has also managed to reacquaint himself with an old friend of his, a mage named Marquis. But now, Marquis is traveling with a young lady named Wren, and thanks to Finnian’s 'helpful’ advice, Wren has sought out the elven airship captain to aid her on an apparently important quest, and Cassius found himself unfortunately manipulated into agreeing to getting involved by Finnian. So, now he’s become the primary mode of transportation for Wren and her questing party, much to his chagrin
Caster (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- He used to be a dust keeper around Pixie Hollow, but he has since gone rogue, and did so even before Tinker Bell was born. He stole pixie dust, especially a bit of blue dust, and he was experimenting with it long before Zarina tried. Like her, he too joined up with pirates for a while, but he left them of his own accord when they were no longer of use to him.
- He’s shorter than most sparrowmen, at a height of about 4.8 inches. But he’s created something even Zarina never figured out. Anti-dust. While normal pixie dust helps others to fly and objects to float about, this black dust with its crimson glow does the opposite. It weighs everything down, and could even create a crushing weight if enough of it is used.
- So beware of the rogue dust keeper. He isn’t your friend in the least. He is the one they all warn the newbies about, and the reason why the blue dust is so vigilantly guarded. But.. maybe Oleander knows something about why.

-  For an animal talent, Crow comes across as very intimidating, even downright terrifying to some. But underneath that gruff exterior, he’s actually genuinely kind and caring, and is sort of like a big brother figure to some others, particularly to Gale and maybe a couple others. Still, he’s very rough with his affection usually, and many have said that maybe Crow should have been a scout instead of an animal talent.
- It doesn’t help either that Crow does have a tendency to carry around a rather large hawk talon, as a method of defense. Where he even got the talon, no one is quite sure. All that is known is that, well, he has it and he’s not afraid to use it.

- A dust keeper with a penchant for mischief. Not really the best combination, especially considering he’s friends with Jinx the lock-breaking tinker. He’s often seeking out Jinx, and if he isn’t looking for his friend or doing his job, he actually also has a fondness for placing bets. He has a great mind for games and probabilities, as well as managing dust.
- But it’s the fact he works with dust that can be a little bit of a problem. Euro has his own hidden stash of pixie dust, and he occasionally adds to it. But.. why does he even have it? Well, that’s because he uses it for betting. And sure, it’s great for emergencies too, but a little harmless gambling isn’t so bad, right?

Gadget (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Everyone’s heard of a social butterfly. Well, guess what! They come in the tinker variety too! Gadget is the perfect example of a social butterfly, jumping from fairy to fairy. And he is even a bit flirtatious too, claiming he’s ever so charming, even if the truth is that his friend Arrow is really the charming one. But there is one problem with Gadget’s exceedingly social nature.
- He is a very physical being, and he loves to just be all on top of those he considers friends. From an arm around the shoulder, to fully draping himself and all his weight on them, Gadget can be a bit of a nuisance. Still, he’s got a good heart and a clever mind, and he’s absolutely thrilled that tinkers now get to play with lost things! Still, there is a secret about him that only Arrow and Fisk know, and it’s not a happy thing that Gadget likes to talk about.
- In fact, he’s deeply ashamed of it, and actively tries to hide it, especially since.. Well, he’d be in big trouble if a certain scout fairy were to ever find out. But Gadget is a vampire. And so far, he’s the only one he knows of in Pixie Hollow. Or at all, really. He can usually keep himself in check by indulging in the occasional nectar mixture that Fisk makes for him, but there are nights when his need to feed becomes too much to hold back.
- Usually, he has enough sense of mind to seek out either Arrow or Fisk, but if he puts it off too long, and ignores the hunger too much, he can turn dangerous and may attack innocent fairies who otherwise know nothing about his vampirism. In fact, he has actually attacked a couple of fairies in the past, and was nearly caught by Venn. Now, he’s extra careful about his late night activities, because if Venn finds out he’s the vampire, it would mean the end for Gadget.

Not to mention that while he may be the youngest of his group of friends, he won’t let that stop him either. But while he generally seems to look on the bright side, Gale’s early experiences in Pixie Hollow weren’t quite as pleasant as some might have hoped they would be.

- Ever met a moody tinker? Well, here’s one. Gizmo isn’t the type to make friends, and instead would rather keep to himself, building complex parts to the mechanisms that are used all around Pixie Hollow. Unfortunately for him, Kestrel doesn’t take no for an answer. As much as Gizmo may insist that they aren’t friends, he just can’t get rid of him.
- Gizmo has been called rude, grumpy, bad-tempered or even aggressive. But it’s just mostly that he’s a loner and likes to be left alone. But.. does he really? Underneath his moodiness, there is a softer side. He isn’t great with affection, despite secretly wanting it, and that’s due to the fact that shortly after his birth, he was somewhat looked over. That, and he got lost deep in the woods for a few months, having to survive entirely on his own for what seemed like an eternity.
- He was eventually found by Kestrel, but by then, he’d become reclusive and harsh, actively refusing the company of others.By the time Kestrel had found him though, he was hungry and weak, cold and wet, and utterly exhausted, even a little battered and bruised. It’s that that is the reason Kestrel keeps checking up on him, and Gizmo knows that. But he spent too long alone, so soon after he’d been born that it was most of what made up his early experiences, and made him shy away from others rather than seeking them out.

Even as a scout, he’s somewhat of a bully, and though he usually means it in a friendly sort of way, he’s very gruff and forceful in everything he does, so it’s no surprise his jokes are actually pretty harsh and insensitive. He actually has referred to Lock as ‘cyclops’ more than once. No one is really safe from his rough humor.
- But the truth is that he’s looking for someone that disappeared shortly before Tinker Bell had even arrived in Pixie Hollow. He knows that they’re out there somewhere, but he can’t figure out where. As a result, he actually doesn’t trust anyone, even if he claims to, and his harsh jokes are his way of keeping others at a distance. He doesn’t want to be attached only for someone else to disappear on him.

While tinkers usually are of a mind to build and create, Jinx is much more likely to take things apart, even if it’s something the other tinkers just finished working on.
- Queen Clarion has acknowledged it as boundless curiosity, but he is advised to keep his curious nature in check. And he does keep it in check. Most of the time. He does have a tendency to get into trouble along with Euro, Ridge, and Nero quite often. Especially when Jinx has taken apart or picked a locking mechanism that is supposed to keep everyone out of important places. As such is the case, most scouts and those in charge of keeping things in order.. aren’t always fond of him. Or the other three.

- This is the sweetest, most gentle sparrowman anyone could ever meet. Kestrel is genuinely kindhearted and just full of love and affection to give to others. Even those who aren’t so friendly to him. Like a young tinker by the name of Gizmo, for example. Kestrel is an animal talent, but often goes out of his way to check up on his young friend. Making sure he’s eating right and all that. He knows he doesn’t have to, but he likes to do it anyway. Kestrel does have a secret, though.
- After an encounter with a strange animal no one had ever seen before, during which Kestrel was wounded by the creature’s claws, Kestrel has to make regular visits to the healing fairies, or else the toxin still in his body even now will force him to change, and lose his sense of self for a while. Beware if Kestrel’s blond hair turns silver, because he will not know friend from foe, and the normally gentle sparrowman has turned aggressive and dangerous.

Lark (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Lark is an animal talent, and still fairly new to life in Pixie Hollow, and in general! He’s energetic, somewhat reckless, not always the brightest firefly in the field, but he means well and generally is a sweetheart, but.. he does also occasionally have a little bit of a temper, and if he notices it, he will call others out on their bullshit.
- He is actually unable to fly, because on his first day after being born, he got a little too excited about his talent, and proceeded to run right off the edge and tear his left wing. So now if he needs to get somewhere fast, he rides a black-footed ferret he named Willowby.

He’s seen as an outlaw and a no-good son-of-a-bitch by most townfolk, but that’s because they tend to see centaurs as much the same as their non-verbal equine kin, and treat them as slaves. And that’s something Lawson is fighting to change.

Lock (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- While he may not be the friendliest of sparrowmen, Lock is determined and loyal, and very attentive to his work as a tinker. He often tends to be the one handling tools for use by the scouts, whatever those things may be, and he is diligent and hard-working. But he comes across very rough and cold to just about everyone in Pixie Hollow. He isn’t interested in making friends, it seems, and he keeps to himself. But.. there is a reason behind his behavior.
- And her name was Luna. They were born fairly close together, though not from the same laugh. She was a scout while he is a tinker, and she made a promise to him. A promise, that she would always make sure he was safe, that she would protect him first and foremost. And it bonded them together, they were nearly inseparable as a pair, even to the point that he fell deeply in love with her, and she loved him in return.
- She was headstrong and brave, always pushing her way through and never letting him be alone. She was his guiding light. Until one day, she asked him to come with her deep into the forest. She had found something, she told him. She had found something he needed to see. And he listened, following her further and further into the woods, until she had led him to what seemed to be a large, black stone in the middle of a dark, and eerie part of the forest.
- She pulled him to it, showing him her discovery, excited to have him to share it with. It could be some kind of new ore that tinkers could use, she thought, something special to help make their tools stronger! But then.. it moved. It revealed itself as no stone or ore, but a deep black avian beast! Immediately Luna shielded Lock behind her, guarding him from the threat she had brought him straight to, and then- It attacked.
- Sharp talons and a wild serpentine tail slashing and swinging about, and Lock tried to flee, tried to get away to get the rest of the scouts to help- but the monster followed him, catching him within its talons and snapping its beak. One sharp talon found purchase, its tip digging deep into his left eye.. and he screamed as his body was being crushed, his eye reduced to nothing but a bloody hole in his face, and-
- There was Luna. She kept her promise, defending him and rescuing him from the wretched creature she’d awoken, and.. she gave her life for his.. Somehow the creature was sealed away and trapped where it couldn’t bring any more harm, but Luna’s life was lost in the process.. Leaving Lock entirely alone, with no one to love, and no one to make him feel safe..

Lotus (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Calm, quiet, usually minds his own business except to keep others from getting hurt, Lotus is the sort of water talent that can often be found meditating on a lily pad in the middle of a pond. He’s curious, but not enough to seek out trouble like some others might. He’s more likely to be the one who gets dragged along on adventures by others who are more energetic and outgoing.
- Like Nova the highly exuberant light fairy, for example. Lotus actually came very close to being a scout instead of a water talent, and he has a very high instinct to protect. But at the last moment, it failed and he was instead a water talent. Not that he minds. He knows all the action the scouts get involved in, and he’s content to just take life one step at a time, even if he does always have an eye out in case of trouble.

Lux (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Here comes trouble. A common phrase uttered throughout Pixie Hollow when Lux is around. Especially when he’s got a particular twinkle in his eye. A light talent with a bad habit of getting into mischief, Lux loves to play pranks. And, well, not everyone enjoys his tricks as much as he does. He gets a good laugh, but oftentimes, he is the only one laughing.
- Especially when his pranks have accidentally caused someone to get hurt. He usually doesn’t mean for things to go that far, and when they do, he’s often pretty quick to apologize for his mistake. Well.. when he’s stopped laughing, that is. And.. only if he wasn’t intentionally hurting them, since he can be a bit vindictive.
- Aside from his prankster nature, Lux is also a fairly jealous individual. There are few who he actually really considers close friends, and he loves it when they dump their attention on him. But.. when they give attention to someone else, instead of spending time with him, Lux can get a bit jealous and possessive.
- He can even be somewhat rude and pushy, forcing his way to the forefront of his friends’ attention. He’s much like a bratty child at times, pouting and throwing mild tantrums from time to time, even bullying those who he thinks are stealing his friends’ attention.
- When he likes someone, though, he is very affectionate and friendly, actively seeking out companionship and bringing them things he thinks they will like. He’s happy and cheerful, and generally fun to be around when he actually considers someone a friend. But.. watch out if he doesn’t like you, because you are very likely to be the main target of his worst pranks. Usually though, he is thankfully kept in check by Umbra and Torren. Just be careful not to steal their attention too much. Lux certainly won’t thank you for it, and he’ll have no one keeping him in check.

- And Michal looked out for him and occasionally he has teased him for various little things. As big brothers do. But recently, Michal has disappeared without any warning, the only sign that he was ever there at all being a few broken snowflakes around where he usually works.

Say no more, Nero is on the job! And what about those seeds? They need to be scattered out in the field? Nero definitely has that handled too!
- But when he’s not doing his job or helping others, he’s hoarding some cool human things he’s found. Or he’s getting into some trouble alongside Jinx, Euro, and Ridge. Honestly, he’s not quite sure what the plan is half the time, but he’s having fun with his friends, and that’s what counts!

Oleander (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Oleander is more than just a little unusual, especially for a garden talent, but he actually manages it fairly well and manages to go through life just the same as anyone else. Except for one, tiny detail. He seems to have no regard for his own life, and actually may even find enjoyment in near-death experiences. He’s what other fairies and sparrowmen call a ‘tossaway’, as it seems he would gladly toss away his own life, for hardly any reason at all.
- But there is a secret behind all of this. Behind his casual charisma, and his apparent humor in a tossaway lifestyle. He was once best friends with Caster, and actually went rogue alongside him for a while before he grew a conscience and returned to Pixie Hollow to do penance for the things he had done, and what he helped Caster to do. He supplied Caster with the ingredient to make his black ‘anti-dust’. A black Narcissus flower. Now he behaves rather flippantly and acts as if he has no care in the world, but every day that goes by he still regrets what he did, and still misses his best friend.

Instead, he’s far more likely to sneak up on someone and give them a little bit of a jump scare. Among all the residents of Pixie Hollow, Ouro is known to be the stealthiest of the scouts.
- He has even managed to sneak up on some of the best, much to the annoyance of some. Nyx is a good example of a scout that doesn’t always appreciate Ouro’s sense of humor, or his chosen uses of his stealth skills. However, if anyone were to ask where Ouro’s deepest loyalties lie, there are only three individuals he actually truly respects enough to have the most unbreakable loyalty toward. Queen Clarion, a healing talent named Clover, and Tyr, a scout leader much like Nyx.
- It’s because of this loyalty to only specific individuals though, that makes Ouro really kind of frustrating to some. But of course, there is a reason for this intense loyalty, as there is for everything.

Ratchet (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Ratchet is one of those sparrowmen that’s just generally hard to figure out. He’s great at what he does, of course, tinkering and making all sorts of handy things. Much like Tinker Bell, he has a very curious mind. Where others might ask why, he asks ‘why not’. Can it be done? Maybe. Should it be done? Who knows! Will he do it? Absolutely. Leave no stone unturned, and nothing left untinkered. Generally, he seems like an okay guy, even downright friendly and without worry. But.. there’s just one problem.
- Ratchet has a very bad habit. One that, try as anyone might, no one can ever get him to break. And of course, Styx doesn’t help, and in fact encourages it. Usually Ratchet’s bad habit has fairly harmless results, but sometimes it can get out of hand. Especially when he’s been hanging out with Styx. But in general, the fact of the matter is that Ratchet is a liar. White lies mostly, but sometimes he can take a lie too far. Still, thankfully no one has been physically hurt by his lies yet. Even if Yarrow may find them mentally and morally taxing.

Rick O’Connell (The Mummy)
-
Ridge (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Definitely not the smartest guy out there. Among garden talents, Ridge is honestly just usually the muscle, rather than the one who takes on more delicate tasks. He’s rough and tumble, and often down in the dirt with the larger bulbs and things like that.
- His pride and joy though is the large and gnarled willow tree just past the edge of the Hollow, that has become the hangout spot for him and his friends. That aside, though, he is actually a fantastic cook.
- Anyone in Pixie Hollow who thinks they know good food, hasn’t tasted anything like Ridge’s blackberry bread rolls, or his orange and lemon sugar pies. Even his roast tomatoes and baked apples are unlike anything else ever made. It’s honestly surprising that he’s a garden talent, and not simply a cook.

River (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Born completely blind, River was often treated as if he was helpless and needed extra assistance, but it only served to frustrate him. He has always been perfectly capable of handling things himself, he just has a different way of doing it, but in the beginning, no one really seemed to understand that. So instead, some of the other fairies had taken to helping him and doing certain tasks for him. He knew they were just trying to help, but it was more of a hindrance than a help, and it was bothering him to no end.
- So, one day he left Pixie Hollow. He left and instead ventured deeper into the woods. If everyone was going to insist he was helpless, then he was going to prove to them that he was far from it. It was no surprise that his disappearance had others worried, but he avoided anyone who might be looking for him, knowing he had to succeed on his own, or no one would ever leave him be.
- So for three months, he lived in the woods and fended for himself, training himself to be strong and to be independent. And on his own, he fought off snakes, a hawk, and more than a few nests of wasps. When he finally returned to the Hollow, he came back scarred, but strong.
- He was welcomed back with open arms and worried voices, but he only smiled and shrugged. He knew what he had done, and they knew it too. He was stronger than they had all thought him to be, and he had proven exactly that. Now no one needed to help him with anything, for they all knew he’s perfectly capable on his own. Being blind has never stopped him from that.

Rome (OC, Neverland Fairies)
-  It isn’t recommended to trust Rome, no matter how charismatic and charming he may be, or how much he may play on someone’s sympathies. He is a thief, and a bitter soul with a strong dislike of Queen Clarion. A light talent, Rome has all the same abilities as any other light fairy, but he was born different.
- While there are others still living in Pixie Hollow who have lost limbs or other body parts in events of conflict, or were tortured, Rome was born the way he is. Missing his right arm, and his left leg. As a result, he has had his fair share of struggles, and much of the time, he failed to keep up, and so he grew frustrated and angry and began to lash out at his fellow talent members.
Eventually, he actually ended up exiled for good from the Hollow, and now he’s gone rogue and is very much a problem to everyone in Pixie Hollow, and outside of it. Rome isn’t alone though. He has managed to gather his own followers, and has formed a criminal gang of sorts, and they have their own community deep in the farthest reaches of the forests. A place where all misfit fairies gather.
Ronin (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Ronin is a scout. It’s in his job description to protect Pixie Hollow and everyone who lives there. He’s fast, and an agile fighter, but.. he also has a tendency to go off on his own to explore, as well as the fact that he does like to tease a bit. He’s a smooth talker, most of the time, and he’s fairly well-liked around the Hollow.
- However, he’s pretty bad at handling real affection directed toward him, especially the physical kind. As he usually is on guard and prepared for combat in some way or another, surprise affection can really get him on edge, and even if it’s something like an accidental kiss, he may run away like he’s been shocked, if only just to process his confusion. Fairies and sparrowmen do only feel one emotion at a time, after all.

Kyra and Wren are usually fairly on top of keeping Rush’s bad temper in check, but sometimes this storm talent sparrowman can get quite a bit out of hand. He’s certainly not afraid to use a bit of lightning to get his point across, and he can be more than a little overconfident sometimes. He also has quite the tendency to mock others and likes to put himself first.
-  Still, he’d be nothing without Kyra and Wren. He owes his very life to them, after he nearly got himself eaten by a snake, and the two of them put their lives on the line to save him. So, as cocky as he gets, he does have quite the soft spot for them, and will often actually follow them around when he’s not busy with other things. But if he’s not with them, and he’s not doing his job, he unfortunately can be found harassing another sparrowman named Sahar, with whom he actually has a fairly intense rivalry, and honestly the two seem to hate each other.

Spark (OC, Neverland Fairies)
-  The friendliest ball of energy in Pixie Hollow, Spark is the type who generally seems completely innocent and naive, and like he has no idea that two of his closest friends apparently hate each other. However, he actually knows very well what’s going on, and actively inserts himself between Bear and Viper in order to keep the peace. Or sometimes he’ll drag Willow into it just to balance things out, and of course the effeminate sparrowman has a hard time refusing. Even Holly and Shade can’t say no when Spark asks them for the occasional favor.

Strix (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Alongside Kestrel, Strix is one of the kindest souls anyone could ever know, and he will go out of his way to make sure others are feeling comfortable and happy, especially new arrivals, no matter their talent. It was honestly by pure coincidence that he wasn’t the one helping Tinker Bell settle in when she was trying out all of the other talents.
- He had actually been on his way to do just that when he’d seen that the other fairies seemed to have things well in hand. Though.. he did have a very terrified baby bird to handle after Fawn had left Tinker Bell alone with it. Still, he is proud of how far Tink has come since the start, like a father watching a child grow. It’s only a shame he will never be able to actually say so.
- Because Strix is mute. And no, he wasn’t born that way. When he was new to Pixie Hollow himself, he was as vocal as any other fairy or sparrowman, and often he spoke up to volunteer his help. As well, he was the type who loved to sing, and in fact, his voice was known to be one of the most beautiful whenever he had an audience, intentionally or not.
- He sang lullabies and gentle tunes, especially to frightened animals in need of comfort, and to other fairies who needed just the same. However, his voice was violently stripped from him, and now he can’t do much more than give a soft wheeze or a huff every now and again. But.. the worst thing is, his voice wasn’t even the first injury he’d suffered.
Styx (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Stay. Away. From. Styx. At least, that’s what most tend to tell the newcomers. He is the scout that other scouts warn about. He’s highly dangerous on his own, and has actually a bit of a violent and aggressive tendency. And you know, when even a scout is unsettled by their own talent member, it’s bad. However, he’s really only a problem when he’s left to his own devices and doesn’t have his best friend to manage him.
- That best friend, being Ratchet. Styx has been around longer than Ratchet has. Quite a while longer in fact, and honestly, Tick and Queen Clarion may be the only ones who actually do know how long Styx has been around. Queen Clarion doesn’t discuss Styx’s behavior, except to say that he never used to be this way. And there won’t be much to get out of Tick either, except the very same.
- However, if pressed further, only Tick will give a little more, but his answer is still vague. ‘What happened to make Styx like this?’ ‘Three.’ That’s all Tick will give, and most are nervous to ask Styx himself. The truth is, Styx has nearly died. Three times. Each one worse and more traumatic than the last. And now he has become almost like a cold, calculating predator. When he’s not with Ratchet, that is.
- To those who have seen the dark side of Styx, tend to avoid him, but when he’s with Ratchet, he’s like a completely different sparrowman. He’s enjoying himself, and laughing and even getting into just some general mischief, which is of course much to the chagrin of Yarrow, who unfortunately often gets dragged along in Ratchet’s plans.

Tick (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- A more mysterious fellow than most, Tick keeps to himself and hardly ever ventures away from his work. He is a tinker, but he is a very unique sort of tinker. He keeps watch of the passing of time in Pixie Hollow, and he is the only one who does. Just as Zarina found her own unique talent within the broader subject, Tick found his own unique subset of tinkering. Clockwork tinkering. Though while discovering his unique skill, it wasn’t always as smooth-going as it is now. He actually suffered a bit of backlash from his own projects, and now has just a bit of trouble seeing out of his left eye.
- However, it is ultimately thanks to him that there are proper schedules, and the seasons are tracked and recorded correctly. He may be a little odd to some, but he knows the balance of time, and how important it is to keep things on time. However, there is something else to his actions. Every now and again, Tick ventures away from Tinker’s Nook, but it isn’t clear where he disappears to. All that is known, is that he keeps a second record of the days, and disappears with it for an hour or so, returning without the extra records.

Torren (OC, Neverland Fairies)
-  Torren is very much the strong, silent type. He only speaks when he needs to, and especially when it’s really something important to say. Most of the time though, this big guy usually just sort of grunts in acknowledgement, or shrugs or shakes his head. Not many actual spoken words needed to get his point across. He’s a gentle giant most of the time as well, but it isn’t wise to anger this particular sparrowman. He is a lightning talent after all, and he is very protective of Umbra and Lux.
Train (Black Cat)
-
Travis (OC, Camp Camp)
-
Tyr (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- A leader among scouts, Tyr doesn’t actually go out and fight or patrol as much as Nyx does. Mostly, he trusts her judgement and lets her handle that side of things unless he’s needed in action, and instead he usually handles the more diplomatic side of it all, and well.. paperwork and documentation. Written records of patrols, and encounters, and all that sort of thing. He hates the paperwork part of his job, and can actually often be found skipping his duties on that front.
- He’s great at the social and personal aspect, and certainly a skilled fighter, but he’d just rather not do the paperwork. More often than once, he has actually been found skipping those duties to instead just explore and enjoy some more frivolous activities, as well as interacting with other fairies and sparrowmen. Often he has been escorted back to his paperwork by two of the scouts under his direct command, Romulus and Kyrie.

-  Everyone knows Umbra, and everyone sincerely enjoys his company. Of course, this is with the exception of newer fairies, but everyone gets to know him sooner or later, because he loves welcoming everyone new, whether they’re his fellow talent members or not. Umbra is highly social, and genuinely sweet and kind to everyone. Of course, this also means that he is extremely popular, and his good looks of course add to that as well, much to the severe annoyance of Lux.

Willow (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- At first glance, most would look at Willow and think that he’s female. He certainly has a very slender, and almost effeminate body shape, and his long hair doesn’t help either. All around, he genuinely appears female. Even his name could be considered effeminate. However, he is as male as they come, and he does actually take a firm dislike to being mistaken for a girl. Honestly, if someone were to call him a girl too many times, they should be very prepared for a willow whip to the face.
He’s fairly tolerant if it isn’t too often, but.. It’s generally better not to push it too much. Generally, Willow is kind and easy-going, and he takes most things in stride. He’s always willing to help out if he can, except.. If it puts him in a rather demeaning situation. He’ll go along with things for a while, but if he feels at all demeaned or uncomfortable, he will make his feelings known and will stand firm on his refusal to participate.
- There has been the occasional instance of a fairy convincing him to try on a dress, but it doesn’t last long before he gets very annoyed. He also has been flirted with by a few other sparrowmen before they realized he was male like them. Willow’s first appearance in Pixie Hollow was a bit of an event in and of itself, and there was certainly confusion about his gender even then, as his long hair masked most of his figure and even Queen Clarion was fooled for a moment.
- Once he’d settled in with the other garden talents though, it seemed things would be much less confusing, and certainly less exciting, from then on. And for a while, it was. Things had settled down and life went on as it always had. At least.. Until what Willow will now only ever refer to, as the Incident.
Wisp (OC, Neverland Fairies)
-
Wit (OC, Beast in the Bottle)
-
Wizardmon (Digimon)
-
Wolf (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- In the case of this particular sparrowman, the term ‘lone wolf’ isn’t just an expression. This animal talent really tends to be found on his own more often than not, and he is usually working with animals like wolf pups or fox kits, even the occasional bear cub tends to be in his charge. Why? Because despite how he looks, Wolf is actually one of the physically strongest sparrowmen in all of Pixie Hollow, following close behind Ridge and Hatch. He can handle an unruly bear cub, or a mischievous fox kit, no help needed.
- So he tends to be by himself with only animals for company, and occasionally comes across as having little emotion or being somewhat cold. He does have a reckless streak though, and tends to act before he thinks, especially if he feels that what he’s doing is right. Hm. Maybe he should have been a scout instead of an animal talent. But, well, it is what it is. And of course, there is unsurprisingly a reason for his loner behavior.
- There is only one other individual he ever felt remotely close to, even to the point of an almost older/younger sibling dynamic. And that is Michal. Only ever able to see each other from opposite sides of the winter border, Michal had been born a few years before Wolf, and Wolf has always looked up to him, feeling a bond between them that couldn’t be explained.
- And now, the pair of them are excited to be able to visit each other across the border as well, thanks to Tinker Bell and Periwinkle. However, recently, Michal has disappeared, and Wolf is trying to find out why.

Xander (OC, The Faded Legends Saga)
-
Xavier (The Tangled Series)
-
Xelloss (The Slayers)

Yamato (Nanbaka)
-
Yarrow (OC, Neverland Fairies)
- Yarrow tends to be the more serious type, taking his role as healer very seriously and not taking no for an answer, especially if he knows someone needs help but is refusing to accept it. He has even been known to purposely wound himself and perform complex procedures on himself while conscious, to demonstrate that it can be done and there shouldn’t be any concern about it.
- He’s very direct and straightforward, and maybe sometimes the way he goes about things can be considered a little extreme, but he’s practical and everything he does has its purpose. And his life has been relatively calm for the most part. At least.. It was until Ratchet fell into his life. As a matter of fact, it was quite a literal incident, in which Ratchet came crashing through the roof of Yarrow’s home.

Megavos: Snake Charmer
-preview-
I wanted to wait to post this until the story connected to it was about ready, and it finally is. It’s been a work in progress since March and is a story that I will only post on my “after dark” account connected to this one, but I will still link to it when it’s up. Why it’s going over there, because it’s very adult and involves a few of my kinks not strictly connected to Megavos.
Story summary: Meg is a Zoology Major student on a trip with her school in the tropics of Stjernelys, where rare creatures of study are said to be. While there she hears from the locals about a monster that attacks anyone who goes too deep into the jungle and gets lost. No one is ever seen again after that. Though shaken by this warning, she doesn’t think much of it but tries not to get lost. Inevitably she does...and discovers the stories to be true. However, the monster seems to have different plans for her.
By that summary, you can probably guess what the story’s about.
Below is the concept art and final designs as well as a story snippet
Tumblr media
First is Aaravos as a naga, the official species name being “Star Serpent.” His snake half is based on the final stage of his caterpillar creature in the show before the chrysalis, pulsing markings down the back and all. His skin still changes shades and hues based on time of day (the bottom left picture shows his day colors) and as a snake-like creature he has the ability to hypnotize (shown in the top left.)
Though usually calm and patiently seductive with his victims, he is still a monster and has monster-like behaviors as well. For one, the rumors aren’t just rumors...he usually eats trespassers. Snake-like.
His eyes also glow when angry, or in the dark (so do his stars.) He likes to wear gold jewelry as well...the earrings are new.
If he uses magic like his canon counterpart, aside from the naga-related kind, isn’t clear...not yet anyway.
Tumblr media
Then there’s Meg, whom I didn’t have to spend as much time on. She’s just a college student on a trip with her class and happens to get lost then stumble into Aaravos’ territory. The gloves may not be official to the design...but if she climbs rocks or anything, they help protect her palms. The setting is also the tropics, so that’s why she has on a tanktop.
Story snippet sneak peak:
(warning: contains elements of dub con, implied breeding, and hypnosis)
“As I said…I normally eat humans like you for your actions.” He smirked wider and she thought she saw the glint of a white fang poke out from between his lips. The smirk then lessened a bit as he leaned back some again. “But it’s lucky for you to have wandered into my territory today of all days… You see, because of this I have a more…practical use for you.”
“Wh-what do you mean by that?” She was starting to subconsciously lean back as he moved closer. Eyes trying to move toward his mouth, but unable to look away from the piercing yellow irises boring their gaze into her mercilessly.
“You see...I find myself in a bit of a predicament.” He smirked, hands now resting on his coils on either side of her. “Star Serpents like myself don’t reproduce often...usually only every few centuries or so...”
Hoping she was misunderstanding, Meg swallowed before asking: “What...does that have to do with me?”
His eyes flashed and she was forced to lay flat on her back as he leaned even further forward. The shadows making not only the star-like marks on his skin glow...but his eyes as well.
“I require a vessel, of course... You should feel honored, or at least thankful, for this. Otherwise you would be joining the others sooner.” He was still smirking as he spoke, bringing a clawed hand up to her face. His thumb brushed over a soft cheek which involuntarily flushed red, but there was a firm grip there. As though he was keeping her from moving.
“A-A vessel? I-how is that possible? Surely our biology is too different...” She protested, but it was responded to with a deep chuckle.
“Oh, don’t worry about that, human. Don’t worry about anything at all...” His voice grew softer and his eyelids lowered some. She couldn’t look away even as his eyes appeared to fade from yellow to violet. The pupils appearing to turn white. It was...beautiful. His eyes were already beautiful, but the new hues...
“That’s it...” A gentle hiss sounded, though it appeared distant. As though from the trees surrounding her. “Let go...give in...you have nothing to fear for now~”
It was becoming harder to think too. What was she doing again? She suddenly couldn’t remember... All that she focused on was the soft but firm surface below and the beautiful creature above.
“Good girl...” He leaned closer and she reached up a hand, wanting to touch the otherworldly being in front of her as her own eyelids lowered some. Her hand brushing against the starry skin before tracing the dark patch on his chest. What a strange mark...but intriguing...

I Hang My Flag Up On Display, It Reminds Me That I Came From Miles Away
Summary: Callum and Rayla's youngest daughter wonders why her father hangs the flags of Katolis, Moonshadow elves, and Xadia everywhere they go.
You don't have to read We Could Be Heroes to read this, but there might be a bit of confusion with a few minor things if you don't.
The In The Heights trailer inspired me HARD
-----------------------------------
Eryn stared at the Katolis flag that was displayed next to the Xadia and Moonshadow ones.  She and her family were staying at the Banther Lodge, her siblings laughing as they played with magic while her parents, all five of her grandparents, and uncle were discussing politics, probably.  There were rumors that the flag of Duren was going to be placed next to the Katolis flag soon.  Her Uncle Ezran had been courting the Queen of Duren for months at this point.
“Eryn,” Aisling whispered from behind her.  Eryn almost jumped out of her skin.  She stared at her oldest sibling, her regal face holding an amused grin.  “What’cha doing?”
“Just looking.”
“At the flags?”
“Why are they here?  We’re not in Xadia right now.  And no matter where we go, Dad and Mom have all three of those flags up.  Back in Silvergrove, our cottage next to the Spire, in the castle…”
Aisling shook her head.  “Talk to Dad.  It’s him that does it.  These flags represent something to him that you don’t get yet.”
Eryn rolled her eyes.  “Then you tell me.”
“Dad’s better at explaining it.”
Eryn pouted as Aisling walked back to their brothers to help their perfect whatever spell they were working on.  Much like their father, the four of them had a high affinity for magic and the different arcana.  The whole world had their eyes on their family, not only because they were the children of the half-brother of the future king of Katolis.  Since her parents were the ones to destroy Viren and Aaravos and they both brought to light the reality that most people in the world, human and elf, were decedents of mixed marriages, they were forever regarded as heroes who changed the world in an irrevocable way.
Eryn looked back up at the flags.  She couldn’t go anywhere without people knowing her name.  She couldn’t count how many times she had seen people cry and thank her parents when they met her father and mother for the first time.  The symbols of a new age….  Why did these flags matter so much to her father if he himself was a figure of hope in the world?  He was always telling her that borders were an illusion created by people.  Why hang something that represented an illusion he didn’t believe in?
Eryn startled when she felt a hand on her shoulder.  She looked up into her father’s green eyes; eyes she and her siblings all shared.  “What’s going on?  You look really confused.”
“Why do we keep these flags up everywhere we go?  We’re in Katolis right now.”
Callum smiled sadly.  “You have no idea how lucky you are to live in the world you do.  When your mother and I were growing up-”
“We were in a cold war.  Xadia and the Pentarchy viewed each other with hatred.  I know.”
“You know intellectually.  But it’s different to live in that kind of world.  Your mother and I had to fight to be together.  So much life was lost to make you a reality, Eryn.”  Callum looked up at the three flags.  “Do you want to know why I hang these flags on display everywhere we go?  Because it reminds me that we have all come miles away from where we were.  Even now, every day is full of patience and faith that everything that our family has fought for will continue to make the world something better than what it once was.”
“But your work is done.  The world is already better.”
“That kind of work is never done.  The moment you forget where you came from is the moment you lose sight of WHY you wanted the life you have.  I don’t want any of you to forget that you are not only children of Katolis or Silvergrove.  You are not just members of the royal family of Katolis or grandchildren of the Dragon Guard.  You are not simply children of the first human mage trained in the six primal sources or of a traditionally trained Moonshadow elf assassin.  You are all of that and so much more.  People call your mother and I symbols of peace and hope, of a new, connected world.  But believe you four are the representatives of just how beautiful this new world could be.”
“That’s a lot of pressure, Dad.”
Callum smiled.  “Sorry.  You know, my biological father had nothing in this world.  He was invisible until he married my mother, the General of Katolis.  He’s the one that pushed her, me, our family to pursue peace, even in death.”  Callum ran a hand through Eryn’s light brown hair, keeping clear of her horns.  “The pressure will be coming at you from all sides.  People will expect you to be like me or your mother.  You are your own person and you are the only person who can decide what’s best for you.  Ignore anyone who doubts you.”
“Anyone?”
“Anyone and everyone.  I can’t protect you from the world, but I can tell you that the people who want you to fail and prove that all the effort our family has made was all for naught will speak the loudest.  They will scream and demand every last piece of you.  You don’t owe them anything.  But, there aren’t any shortcuts to change.  It will take generations before all the prejudice is gone and even then, maybe there will still be inklings.”
“Thanks, Dad,” Eryn sighed.  “Guess I just have to be ready for people to want to tear me down.”  Eryn watched as her father lightly touched the tower on the Katolis flag.  “Dad?”
Callum smiled down at her.  “As rough as life can be, it’s worth it.  I promise.  I wouldn’t trade you or your siblings for the all the secrets in the universe.  And your mother is the single greatest thing to happen to me.  More than my magic, more than people actually listening to me and realizing I had something to say.  You are blessed, Eryn, in ways you can’t even imagine.  These flags may mean nothing to you now, but they will one day.  I promise.”
-------------------------------------------------
Eryn smiled as she looked at Aisling.  At the age of 22, her sister had been officially recognized as one of the most talented mages of their generation and her knowledge was being vied for by everyone in the Pentarchy and Xadia.  There was arguing and agreements that whoever didn’t get Aisling would get Eryn or her brothers.  Since Katolis and the Moonshadow elves had long claimed Callum as their mage (as well as him unofficially being in the Dragon King’s retinue), they were not the loudest in their demands.
Aisling smiled at the cameras in the conference room on the border, reporters eager to here where she was headed post-graduation from the Border University.  The flags of the Pentarchy and the six elven regions were behind her.  “I know you all want to know just where will I be going?  I’m going to give all of you an answer you’ll hate.  My loyalty is not to any one kingdom nor is it to any one group.  I plan to continue my studies at the Border University until there is confidence in me becoming a professor.  And I plan to stay there.  The border is my home.  I was born on the border.  It’s where my parents fell in love and it’s where I’ve always felt most understood.  My father has always told me and my siblings that we are lucky to have grown up in the world we did.  But, I remember how it used to be.  I remember the hatred and anger at just my existence.  I’ve read the reports and the books about how people like my parents and myself were treated.  I know my history and how families were torn apart during the Expulsion.  I’ve heard the things some of you call me behind my back.  And now, that I have something to offer, you all want me for yourselves.  No.”  Aisling sighed, rubbing her eyes a bit.
“I will never forget that generations of my family came from miles away to get to where we are.  These flags behind me remind me of that.  I’m going to quote my father: there are no shortcuts.  Dark magic was a shortcut and we’ve banned it everywhere.  I will not be used as a shortcut to fame and I’ve heard the way some of you speak about how having me in your schools will make your lives easier.  After all, I’m the oldest child of the Great Mage of Katolis and the Blade of Xadia.  My name alone is going to be a huge draw for many students.  The border is where people who want to learn magic belong.  It’s a microcosm of the world we live in and is the biggest melting pot of all these rich cultures and magic that have started to meld in ways no one believed possible thirty years ago.  My decision is final.  I’m a child of Katolis and Silvergrove, of a human mage and a Moonshadow elf assassin, and I will live and teach where that is most respected.”
As Aisling walked off the stage, there was outrage.  Eryn could hear the naysayers calling her selfish and that she wanted to keep all the knowledge their father willingly shared to herself.  Aisling kept her head high, her long dark brown hair with her purple horns protruding, floating behind her as those bright green eyes stared straight ahead.  The confidence that everyone admired in Rayla was shining bright in Aisling.  When Aisling started to walk past her, Eryn stepped in line to move beside her along with their brothers.  “Really, Aisling?”
“Ignore them.  They have nothing interesting to offer.  They’re just pissed they got called out.”
“You don’t think they aren’t interested in your knowledge, your talents?”
“I know they are.  But I am not a commodity.  I have free will and will continue to exercise it.  The three of you can do what you want.  Growing up, we’ve moved around so much that I’m not worried about dying and saying I never saw the world.  The border is home.  It’s imperfect and full of tension, but I don’t wonder where I stand there.”
Eryn looked back at the flags as they walked out of the conference room.  The fact that her sister even had a choice between Xadia and the Pentarchy was a sign that things had changed.  The fact that her sister still chose the border, an in-between area was proof that there was still a lot of work to be done.  Their dad had been right; they couldn’t forget where they came from.  It was just as much a piece of them as their present and their future.
-----------------------------------------
Eryn laughed as she watched her mother doing a complicated shimmy while her father tripped on his own feet.  Callum was dressed in traditional Moonshadow clothes in Katolian red and gold while Rayla was in a Moonshadow purple and green Katolian-style dress.  Callum chuckled at himself as he put a hand on Rayla’s waist and took her hand with his other.  They fell into a quick step that displayed just how connected they were, anticipating each other’s moves at every dip and turn.  The jewels on Callum’s ear cuff, meant to be representative of traditional Xadian horn cuffs, shined while light bounced off the same ones on Rayla’s ring.
Eryn had heard Rayla call Callum ‘My Heart’ her whole life and, now, Eryn felt like she understood.  They moved like one heart, one soul, in two bodies.  Even born miles and miles apart, with a border and a war between them, they had still found each other; the other half to their souls.  Even with cultural differences and vastly different ways of life, they still chose to make it work instead of giving up.
When the music ended, Callum and Rayla went over to the microphone by the orchestra.  It was their 25th wedding anniversary and it seemed like the whole world was there.  Eryn saw the flags on display all over the room while people from every corner of the Pentarchy and Xadia were there to celebrate with the happy couple.
Rayla smiled as she spoke first.  “Thank you, everyone, for coming.  I wish all of you were back home and this was just a family event, but since when do I get that wish?  I married a prince, what can I expect?”  The light-heartedness in her tone and the well-known fact that Rayla was a private person had everyone chuckling with her instead of upset at her.  “I plan on being married to this dork until the day I die.  And since Moonshadow elves tend to live about twenty years longer than humans, you will all watch as I try my best to keep Callum going until my dying breath.  I’m bad at emotional speeches, so, please, bear with me.”
Rayla sighed and rolled her shoulders.  “There are days that I can’t believe how different everything is since we were born.  I remember being raised to believe that the war between Xadia and Katolis would never end.  How afraid I was to admit that a human had stolen my heart and I was never going to get it back.  How terrified I was to be pregnant in a world that still didn’t fully accept what I knew in my soul was right.  My husband, this awkward man who makes doe eyes at me all day long while you all worship the ground he walks on,” another chuckle ripped through the room, “told me to keep the faith and to be patient.  The world needed time to heal and it has.  I’m not so arrogant to believe that our marriage was a catalyst for change, but I’m also not a fool.  I know that people still look to us as positive representation, of how an elf-human relationship can work and be happy.  I’ve been blessed with four beautiful children, in-laws who love me as much as I love them, and a man who loves me with all my flaws and issues.  I couldn’t ask for anything more.  Well, except for you all to leave me alone.”
Callum chuckled next to her, taking over the mic before she actually did insult someone.  “Thank you for coming, everyone.  It means a lot to us that the world has changed enough where we can be in a room of elves and humans from all walks of life and regions.  But, as much as I thank you, I would like to address my wife.”
Callum turned to Rayla, a smile on his face as he got down on one knee.  Eryn’s eyes went wide as a gasp went through the room.  “Ray, I didn’t propose to you the proper way.  And while I know it doesn’t bother you, I want to do it right this time.  I talked to Tiadrin, Lain, Runaan, Ethari, and Ez because he insisted,” a sharp ‘hey’ was heard coming from Ezran to Eryn’s right, “and they all gave me their permission.”  Callum took out a small box, opening it to present a silver ring to Rayla.  Rayla’s face was frozen in shock as a hand had made it’s way to her mouth.  “There is no doubt in my mind that you are the love of my life.  If soulmates exist, you are mine.  You said I stole your heart, but I don’t think I ever had mine for anyone else to take.  It belonged to you long before I even met you.  You’ve given me the best 25 years of my life.  Will you marry me again and give me a million more?”
Rayla laughed a bit, a few tears leaking out.  “Of course, My Heart.”  Rayla leaned down to kiss Callum deeply, causing Eryn to look away.  She was 90% positive her mom had stuck her tongue down her dad’s throat and she didn’t really want to see that.  The applause that erupted around the room made her smile.  She turned back to see her parents had separated, Callum sliding the engagement ring on Rayla’s finger.
Ezran stood up, a glowing smile on his face.  “I don’t think I need to tell any of you how happy I am that these two willing be staying together.  Rayla’s basically been my sister since she and Callum started dating.  Frankly, bringing her and my nieces and nephews into my life is the greatest gift Callum ever gave me.  I look at these two, and I am reminded of how far we’ve all come.  Callum and I lost our mother, Queen Sarai, to something that, maybe if we had already had peace, would never have had to come to pass.  My wife, Aanya, lost both of her mothers to that same unfortunate event.  I almost lost Callum and Rayla in the war and I’m thankful that they are still here.  Everywhere Callum goes, he hangs the flags of Katolis, Moonshadow elves, and Xadia.  He refuses to forget where we’ve come from and so do I.
“So, it is with great joy, that I officially can say that the Border University no long belongs to Katolis, but belongs to the whole of the Pentarchy and Xadia.  It’s always been a harbor for everyone to come and learn, but, by pure technicality, was under Katolian rule.  A representative from each human kingdom and each elf region as well as a representative of the border will be in charge from now on.  And, I am proud to announce that, unanimously, my niece, Aisling, has been chosen as the first border representative of not only the University, but also of the Border in meetings between the Pentarchy and Xadia.  People are now coming from somewhere in-between and yet completely outside of what the rest of us grew up with, and they need to be heard.  1600 years ago, during the Expulsion, those voices were ignored.  Never again.  Aisling.”
Aisling came out with a cloth over her arm.  She smiled as she slowly unfurled it to reveal a bright white cloth with different colored threads intersecting to represent the colors of the human kingdoms and elf regions.  The threads were woven together to create a complicated knot.  The longer Eryn looked, the more she noticed that no color was more presented than another, but that the knot was asymmetrical.  A perfect balance of the symmetry and perfection valued in Xadia and the asymmetry and imperfection admired in the human kingdoms.  Aisling handed the flag to Callum and Rayla, who held it close.  “This is the first Border flag, and it’s your’s.  It should probably go into a museum, but Aunt Amaya and Aunt Janai insisted you two have it when I brought it up.”
Callum teared up and pulled Ezran into a big bear hug.  Aisling had avoided the hug until Rayla had wrapped her up into one of her own.  Eryn smiled as she watched her father then move to embrace Aisling.  While Eryn never doubted her parents loved all four of them equally, Aisling had always had a special relationship with their parents that no one else could touch.  She was their first born and her birth had been used by the media to say that a new era was being ushered in.  And, like Callum and Rayla, she would never let anyone forget how far they had all travelled to finally regain the peace that had eluded the world for so long.  None of them could take that peace for granted.
