Okay, Rayla has definitely done this to Runaan before. She is way too proud of herself here.

“The ocean arcanum is about accepting there are depths you can’t see, parts of yourself you can’t understand, and things you can’t control.”
“Real trust is about accepting even the dark parts we will never know.”
Can I just say I adore the way the wisdom of the ocean and the moon mirror each other here

If you don’t find any of them attractive personally, no worries! Go with who you think has the objectively best design, or just who you’d like to see win!
Yes, there are some lovely ladies missing from the list 😔 unfortunately, Tumblr only allows twelve options per poll, so I had to go with the characters that seem to be the most popular in the fandom.
Reblogs are appreciated!

Since my last post abt Moonshadow genetics did well, I decided to try to figure out eye genetics 😬👍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Research Results:
From what I have gathered, it is probable that Moonshadow elves have three main phenotypes for iris melanin, which happen to be the primary colors of Blue, Red, and Yellow.
If we hypothesize that the sister dominant phenotype combinations (blue+red and red+yellow) result in true incomplete dominance (the colors blend together completely), then that would explain where the eye colors of purple and orange come from (brown as well, since brown is just a dark shade of orange).
Since Lain’s eyes are orange, he has a Red phenotype, and paired with Tiadrin’s Blue phenotype would create purple!
Since we have yet to see a Moonshadow elf with fully green eyes, it is reasonable to infer that although all the phenotypes show incomplete dominance with their nearest neighbor, the yellow phenotype is simply too weak to fully mix with blue, which would result in a blue eye color that leans towards green, but doesn’t cross the threshold to be considered fully green (e.x. Runaan with turquoise eyes, and Lunjanne with teal eyes)
Conclusion: It works???????
(@cartoonish-character since they’re the one that made me start thinking abt this)

Updating my various headcanons on Runaan and Lujanne being related and Runaan and Andromeda being related to include Runaan and Kim'dael being related. I've got an old headcanon that she used to be an assassin back in the day, but this is juuuust a half step closer.
They all have British accents. And they're currently the only Moonshadow elves who do.

Lujanne: Humans can’t do magic.
Callum: Well, that doesn’t make sense. I could totally just learn an Arcanum, right?
Lujanne: No, I mean humans literally can’t do magic. Otherwise the Startouch elves will get angry and blow up another bit of Xadia. The last time they did that, an entire new sea was created from their temper tantrum.
Callum: Oh…well that’s a yikes.
Lujanne: Yup. Big Yikes.

According to Devon interview, elves can only use one arcanum, does that humans are potentially more powerful than elves?
Tumblr media
In potential and theory, it's a possibility, but we mustn't forget the route Callum had to take to connect to an arcanum. It was physically and mentally demanding and difficult. Whether it's using dark magic, his tug-of-war and his path to achieving the arcanum connection. We saw Aaravos use him like a puppet, depriving him of his mobility and his voice. And yet, he could remember. Using magic to help his friends and find the one thing that set him apart from the expectations of a standard prince. And Aaravos used it to his advantage.
Among the elves, we also have Lujanne, who has great knowledge and explains the moon arcanum to Callum, but doesn't seem to know how to perform it. But who doesn't see how a human can connect to the arcanum. Ibis gives Callum and the others the option of leaving and showing the wing spell. And despite Callum's assertion, he turns his back on him, adding that he must leave. Not to mention the elf who healed Zubeia, who could be the one guarding his Nexus. Even with Finnegrin and Nyx, they insist that Callum is a dark mage, which shows that Callum's prowess is no ordinary feat, unlike what we're used to seeing.
So yeah if humans wanted to connect to an arcanum. It would take a long time to do it, especially when they have dark magic, which is easier and simpler and is a gift from Aaravos. Even if an elf could connect to another arcanum, they would also become prey for Aaravos, and it remains to be seen whether this person would be able to resist temptation, as the startouch elf is one. But more powerful than the elves? I don't think the startouch elves would appreciate it.

ngl I really wanted there to be Great Ones of all primals, like essentially the elven equivalent of an Archdragon, particularly with how Aditi is described
because if, say, all of the primal nexuses were watched over by either an Archdragon or a Great elf... that would mean Lujanne was one and that would just please me immensely

no but like the fact callum went “what if i lied to lujanne about what she’s dedicated her entire life to protect, even after she expressly forbade me from doing so, roped her boyfriend into it on top of it all, and unlike my girlfriend, am not doing it to ensure the world is safe whatsoever, but solely to try to give rayla closure... haha jk... unless?” in through the moon never fails to send me, like he has zero chill

Oh hey, hood markings
Check out this elf! She has two slightly different designs: one from the intro, and one from Callum’s Spellbook. A few things have changed about her (probably between design and S1′s release, if we’re going to be meta about this), but the most interesting part about her sketch is that her hood is up, and on it is a reflection of her markings, as if the edge of her hood is a mirror.
Tumblr media
Cheek slashes and a forehead point extend back along her hood like a reflection of the markings on her face.
Tumblr media
Rayla’s hood markings have the same kind of thing, and it got me thinking.
Tumblr media
It looks like these marks aren’t supposed to be the top half of Rayla’s childhood markings. They’re something different.
According to the latest TDP Insta AMA, assassins slip into a dimension of the moon when they enter their full Moonshadow mode to take their target. And the only dimension of the moon we’ve seen so far is the shimmering world beyond life and death: the Upside Down that Rayla accessed through the Moon Nexus.
Tumblr media
It’s literally the Upside Down! Ha. A reversal of the living world where even its colors are inverted. A mirror of reality, facing the other way.
And the assassins’ hoods do the same thing! It’s a cool way to visually represent their ability to slide between life and death and to embrace both opposites at the same time. It also gives me vibes from the Roman god Janus, who had two faces and presided over beginnings and endings--cycles, if you will.
So I guess I have a headcanon now that Runaan’s hood has his nose markings painted across it, and that their points come right down to where his actual markings are on his cheeks. Which would make him even more terrifying in his full Moonshadow form, since he’d have glowing turquoise eyes shining out of a toothy maw made of of glowing markings. Crikey.
