Pen’s Song-Story Writing Challenge Extravaganza!
Ok! The poll is over and there was quite a bit of interest for the writing challenge! So let’s do this!
Everyone who wants to participate this is what we’re going to do:
1. Send me a message (either in my ask box or as a direct message, just make sure you’re not anonymous when you send it) with a song you want someone to write a story on. Give me both the title and artist so I make sure I get the right one. Please send me your entry song by 11:59pm on Thursday. That way I can assign songs on Friday, and people can get writing!
2. I will take all the submitted songs and randomize them with the list of participants, that way everyone gets a new song!
Some of you may want to write to your own song suggestions, but this challenge is meant to stretch your creativity, so I want to give everyone a chance to brainstorm with new material. Also, this way, everyone gets to read a fun story based on a song they love.
If you have any concerns about not wanting a song with explicit language or something like that, let me know. Everyone has their sensitivities, and I want to make sure everyone is comfy listening to their assigned song.
3. Write your story by December 1st! It wouldn’t be much a challenge without a deadline! I’m giving two weeks because I know holidays are coming up and keeping people busy, but I have faith in everyone and their writing abilities! 😊 When you post your story, let us know what song you were given and use the tag #songsandwords. That way all participants can easily find the stories.
4. Have fun! Write what you want! It can be whatever genre or length you want! I hope the songs inspire you and that you all come up with some ideas that bring you joy!

P.S. If you give me a song, please write something for the song you’re given in return. That way it’s fair for everyone. It sucks when you right a story for someone, but no one writes one for you.

A New Challanger Approaches!
(It is a lovely day in the League of Villains. The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing... and for some reason, so is the local homicidal space-pirate pterodactyl.)
Ripley: Zippidy-do-DAA, zippidy-DAY! My oh my what a wonderful day!
Bowser: Ok, anyone know what's going on with Ridley, because he's starting to freak me out.
*The rest of the League nods in agreement- this is very un-Ridleylike behavior.*
Ganondorf: Ridley... is there any particular reason for this... behavior?
Ridley: Oh boy is there! My sweetheart is coming, and they're joining the League!
Other Villains: WHAT?!?!?!
Ganondorf: *Angry* Since when do you have the right to induct anyone into the League?!
Wario: Forget that, since when does RIDLEY have a GIRLFRIEND?!
K.Rool: Forget THAT, HOW COME HE HAS ONE AND I DON'T?!
Ridley: Hey, they are nonbinary and you will respect their pronouns!
Wolf: I thought you were straight?
Ridley: Yeah, so did I. Then I met them on a dating site last year, we started videochatting, and we just... clicked!
Sephiroth: So you're Demi?
Deedeedee: Wuzzat?
Sephiroth: When someone develops a sexual/romantic attraction to someone only after they've formed a close bond.
Ridley: *Sighs dreamily* I knew they were the one when they said their favorite pastime was invading planets and devouring all its inhabitants while listening to their screams.
Ganondorf: *Slightly surprised* You're saying this creature is capable of devouring an entire planetsworth of creatures?
Ridley: Thats nothing. They THREW an entire planet at Kirby.
*Deedeedee pales*
Deedeedee:... You didn't...
Ridley: *Evil grin* I did.
*Suddenly a shudder runs through the group. They all run outside to see an enormous star-shaped portal dominating the sky. Through the portal comes a tall turquoise-furred creature with gigantic multicolored ears and a lance.*
*Deedeedee screams*
*Ridley waves*
*Ganondorf is impressed*
*The other villains stare in awe*

Ryu

I couldn't wait to take more pictures of this toy. It's just such an exciting piece from a new player on the scene - not that Jada is new to the toy scene, but this is definitely a huge new territory for them.
And what a first impression - taking a character that has had a lot of top notch releases in the post few years and absolutely knocking it out of the park. I think it's safe to say this stands toe-to-toe with the S.H. Figuarts version. Surpasses it in many ways, in my opinion.
It's a perfect sculpt. Beautiful texture work on the gi, simple but extremely effective paint. And just the overall design is very appealing - it reads "Street Fighter II" distinctly. Rather than a general interpretation of the character through pop culture. Soft goods are very well implemented, too.
But the articulation is where it really stands out. Somewhere between a S.H. Figuarts and Marvel Legends. The joints are relatively soft, with detented plastic joints in the knees and elbows (think Marvel Legends knees) but there are more indentations, giving you a much better range of motion.
Butterfly shoulders are extremely effective, and everything in the hips and shoulders is smooth. My only big wish would be a wider swivel on the butterfly to get the perfect Hadouken pose.
And they pulled this all off for $24.99 usd. That's honestly shocking. An incredible value for what you're getting. I can't recommend this line enough.
