Hey um, I’ve been thinking about this request for a while but I’ve been putting it off, since you have so many requests and wips, I didn’t want to add more to the pile but I just want to ask, can you add Psychonauts please???? There’s literally little to none x readers out there.

Caligosto Loboto (Platonic & Romantic Headcanons)

WARNING: medical malpractice, teeth horror (?), psychiatric institutionalisation, violence, toxic mindset.

A.N. - 🎵 "I thrill when I drill a bicuspid! It's swell, though they tell me I'm maladjusted." 🎵

PLATONIC:

Every time he witnesses or learns of unkindness directed at his friend, Loboto offers to grab his surgical tools and go fishing in the culprit's brain tissue and mouth. It was his favourite and most prolific activity for a long time, and since he hates to see his friend in any distress not of his own making, the doctor hopes that it will bring them some of the relief it brought him.

He will put away the scalpel and relent if his friend insists, although Loboto has next to no experience with nice words and pats on the back as an alternative.

In his youth as a criminal dentist, Loboto would give souvenirs from his procedures to his friend and ask whether they prefer a molar or a canine from his latest patient.

The day he was admitted to Thorney Towers Home for the Disturbed was the day he began singing his friend's praises to everyone with functional ears. They were one of his few reasons to hope for life after the asylum, and he spoke of a grand reunion even as decades passed and it annoyed the staff.

He names one of the fish guards at Charlie Psycho Delta after his friend, engaging that fish in conversation more than he does the others and pretending it is his friend when the real thing is not available. Loboto projects his inner dissatisfaction onto his friend by making them the subject of fantasies that revolve around receiving the intimacy he longed for as a child, and the rest of the world is often absent in these fantasies.

Raz and Sasha discover pieces of this when they look into his mind, only for Loboto to withhold all information.

ROMANTIC:

Thanks to a selfish parenting style and an invasive surgery, Loboto was made into the farthest thing from a man of logic. He has vague ideas of right versus wrong, but these moral questions are forgotten once he is swept away by the chance to form a genuine and meaningful connection with someone.

His methods of surprising his partner with unannounced visits because he worries they will say no if he asks and recounting his unethical experiments to show his skills draw many complaints from the Psychonauts, which he typically ignores unless advice is given.

Emotional warmth was a rarity in his household, leaving an unresolved craving for it that presents itself in the way Loboto is both startled and elated by any positive attention from his partner. He is not used to anyone treating him as anything but a disappointment or a kook in need of a cell and therefore retains a certain doubt for a while.

If they are not immediately afraid of him once he tries to be friendly, Loboto grows attached and, having no frame of reference to recommend otherwise, throws all of his emotions and affection into the relationship at once.

Once his moral compass is returned, Loboto grapples with remorse for the first time and struggles through a period where he fears that his partner will recognise his villainy as he has and abandon him. This concern only furthers his gratitude for their presence and his desperation to secure their company and continued affection.

If his attempts to interact are rejected, Loboto does not understand why even if the problem is that he makes off-colour jokes about removing someone's brain after a conversation between him and his partner is interrupted and any action perceived as a slight.

winter anime 2020 part 1: this post was written with a piece of toast in my mouth

Sorry, some unexpected holidays got in the way. It’s also a rather good season (no, really) so I’m more motivated to actually watch anime than to bitch about it.

ID:Invaded

When watching all of these new shows, there’s always two things to consider: 1. how good is the episode and 2. how much potential does the show have going forward. ID:Invaded episode 1 is pretty okay. What it excels at is potential though, and that’s simply because of its elevator pitch: It’s Psychonauts, only as detective procedural. With a setup like this, it has the same baseline performance as something like Flip Flappers, which is to say that as long as it keeps coming up with inventive worlds to visit it has already won and anything beyond that is a bonus. And the concept of abstracting cases to video game logic is slightly hilarious, but also a good way to mitigate many of the problems detective stories always have. So yeah, this is a great framework to make a tv show with. Right now you can tell it’s directed by talented and fabulous hairstyle model Ei Aoki, because it’s visually striking, a bit too talky and yes, a little bit too much like a video game. Judging by the first world depicted, Aoki also has seen Inception recently. But hey, it’s also somewhat intriguing and I want to see where it goes. Just keep on throwing cool shit at the screen Ei, I know you can do it.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama

Ah yes, the dadfeel genre. We haven’t had one of these in a while, and i’d say that is because they were saving up the raw materials to put it all in one show, and that is this one. Somali is about a lonely human child in a fantasy world where humans are rare and only popular as a delicacy, who then gets picked up by a golem which ostensibly does not feel emotions. Being an unfeeling artificial being myself, I can certainly relate. Maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise then that a show set in an universe entirely constructed around the desire to protect is also rather good at facilitating that. I don’t want to sell it short though, because it’s also pretty well made - good looking, nicely paced, the moppet is intensely adorable and so on. But with the two aspects mentioned previously, it comes down to this: This show is definitely good right now, but unless it goes beyond the thing it intensely focuses on in the beginning, I don’t imagine much potential going forward because that’s not enough. Still good enough to see if it goes anywhere.

Darwin's Game

What if there was a smartphone app where if u die in the game u die 4 real? Also it’s PVP so there’s like, anime fights and shit. And while these fights are pretty boring and there’s way too much exposition delivered by the main character talking to himself (terminal light novel syndrome, but it’s actually based on a manga somehow), it’s mondo edgy plus has a yandere love interest. So I think this will be fairly popular among less discerning punters. I hope they also like hilariously overdone shock reactions and jargon. Okay, Darwin’s Game is maybe not the worst thing in its genre, but that is mainly because Ousama Game exists. I’ll just say that an anime with a concept this stale would have to be far, far better than this to raise my interest.

Koisuru Asteroid

I originally started this item with a sigh of relief that Doga Kobo’s finally back to what they’re good at, but then realized that they’re probably really good at annoying comedies about wacky pedophiles and I just don’t appreciate those. Whatever the case, this is them getting back to the jam that originally put them on the map, which is making highly polished adaptations of inoffensive yonkoma manga from the pages of Kirara. Koisuru Asteroid does not appear to be the best of these because it’s fairly by the numbers (i.e., it’s definitely no Love Lab or New Game), but on the upside it’s about as gay as these get. Really not much to say otherwise, you want some cute girls? You want some cute things? You want some detailed character animation and rim lighting? High quality moe slush is back on the menu, boys.

Magia Record

Guess who’s also back? That’s right, SHAFT is putting out more Madoka. Of course this isn’t a sequel because Madoka doesn’t need sequels — for the sake of the argument, please ignore that they already made one for now. So it’s based on a mobile game spinoff instead. Oh dear. It seems it comes down what you think a Madoka is: Magia Record certainly looks the part, but PMMM wasn’t just a style piece. It also had sharp, efficient writing, and Magia Record does not. It tries, at least in the speculahbait department (which is probably easiest thing to clone if you want to make something approximately Madoka-shaped), but it’s far too wordy and as of episode 2 it’s already veering off into only vaguely related side stories about the myriads of side characters a mobile game is required to have for game design reasons. You could say that it gets closer to the real thing than most of the many post-Madoka imitators, but it still is one, and that’s when it doesn’t seem like fanfiction (which is nothing new to Madoka, but at least Rebellion was really entertaining fanfiction). I really do like how it looks but it has to work harder to sustain itself. It was foolish to expect more than “3ep rule and we’ll see” from this, but that’s where we are.

so many choices how is a girl supposed to pick... Well let's do a bit of a free for all here.

psychonauts 1 needs a remake desperately. not in terms of the graphics at all the art of psy1 aged like a fine wine thanks to stylization. in terms of sensitivity and better plot I think double fine could do five MILLION times better now and it'd be so worth it. Also I'm kind of sad psy2 got rid of the actual good edgy humor entirely but I recognize why they did and I can respect that (this is also why a psy1 remake would do well I think they'd have fun playing with it again and they'd be able to cut out all the actual bad shit)

sonic franchise needs a disabled character that isn't there to just die [cough cough] in fact I think they should cripple sonic himself. Its not surprising considering disabilities are like... The last thing anyone is thinking about when they hc a character as something/make a character in general but sonic is in DIRE need of cripples besides the one token cripple (maria). Give someone a wheelchair PLEASE

vocaloid needs more actual good genuine quality horror songs. So much of it is "haha omg crazy yandere" and the edgy modern engloid stuff that's like On April 5th I Killed Myself Ahhhhhh sung by fukase and oliver FUKASE FUCKING SUCKS BTW STOP USING HIM.
