genuinely feel like the rhine lab record of originium manhua is a better arknights story then the games main plot tbh lmao.
An actual focus on curing originium through the story of ifrit's condition in the past, and trying to save the darya girl in the present. A discussion of medical and scientific ethics vs a "results at all costs" perspective. The story is simultaneously about a lot of big picture arknights lore stuff like the columbia scientific community, the secret military project ifrit represented, the sarkaz shard she was implanted with, etc, but its also this really small personal character story about silence, saria and ifrit forming a tiny happy found family in a den of vipers. How they were eventually torn apart by both the lies others told them and their own actions. The constant flashes between the past and the present creating an incredible contrast and mystery as we slowly uncover how things got this way with some of the best writing ive seen in ages. its fantastic.
i really feel like its a much better introduction to the world and themes of arknights then the game itself.
like at the end of the manhua when silence calls herself powerless but then valiantly swears to someday find a cure to originium, to save ifirit, joyce, and all the others suffering, THATS the first time i actually felt invested in the supposed overarching goal of finding a cure to the disease. that's supposed to be the whole plot reason rhodes island exists? but in the games actual story our main characters doctor, amiya, and kaltsit are always too busy running around fighting terrorists and sarkaz royalty. There's zero focus on actually finding a cure. and thats fine, that stuffs not bad, its just kinda funny to me that if we do ever reach a point in the story where they achieve a cure, im gonna be happy for silence, not amiya.

Eiffel questions: Would Eiffel like regular Christmas movies? What movies would he like to watch on his birthday?
you know he doesn't. even if eiffel enjoyed a christmas movie, he would say he didn't because he's stubborn and it's the principle of the thing. the hephaestus's one single vhs tape of home alone 2 is like, insult to injury for him. minkowski, on the other hand, loves christmas movies and gets genuinely sentimental about them. she's even got a guilty pleasure for hallmark movies. eiffel performatively gags and retches like it's poisoning him if he catches her watching.
that said, he's also a "die hard is a christmas movie" guy. so he would say he considers that the one acceptable christmas movie. (and gabriel urbina saying "i hope you, hera, and minkowski are watching die hard" for eiffel's fortieth last year is lodged in my head forever now.) but he definitely also uses his birthday to try to guilt people into star wars marathons, or other things they don't usually want to watch with him. the effectiveness of that strategy varies.
#i think he could get hera on board with movie marathons while it's still a novelty to her but i don't know if she'd want that as like#a regular thing... minkowski definitely does not and is baffled and annoyed by eiffel's movie watching endurance like. really.#you have patience for NOTHING else. but you can sit here for nine hours watching movies you've seen before. really.#and he can. really.#thank you!!#asks

Two twelve year old boys in the 80s and they fall in love over the course of many years as they grapple with internalized homophobia and homophobia in their small town? That sounds like a GREAT show where can I watch it? That's adorable.
Mike and Will are in love. And...that's just the premise. That's just the premise of their plot. If you came up to me after you watched episode 1 for spoilers and you were like "What happens to Lucas? Dustin? Mike? That girl they found? The kid who went missing?" I could just be like "Dustin gains confidence and becomes besties with Mike's sister's boyfriend after they break up, Lucas meets this girl who's introduced next season and they're really good for each other, the girl gets adopted by the police chief and then into the Byers and has a great found family and independence arc, and the boy who went missing survives and he and Mike fall in love!"
And that'd just be like...right. I'd just be telling you what happens.

I’ve been really curious about q!Fit for a while now, and I’m glad people are starting to take notice of the strange things around him because I’ve been thinking about them a lot recently.
Obviously the ominous leaving messages are the primary thing people have noticed. They’ve happened for a bit but most of the characters are just like, “oh Fit is just a silly guy! Just a little goober!” without looking father into them. They caught my interest from the moment they started because, well, q!Fit really doesn’t seem to mess around in that sort of way. Don’t get me wrong, he is definetly a silly guy, but he seems to lean into it mostly with the people he trusts.
But then I noticed some really odd conisidences. Fit coming on at weird times for only a couple minutes or so, simmilar to what the streamers tend to do before they start streaming. But Fit doesn’t start streaming, and I never see him on anyone’s stream in these periods. It’s like he was preparing for something.
The thing that stuck out to me the most recently was after Pomme’s nightmare. At a completely random time, without warning or context, immedietly after a code attack, Fit joins the server. He isn’t streaming, and he comes to ask what happened quite quickly. There is no way that his character would have any idea that things were happening, nor would he have any reason to be around.
What brought Fit to the server at that moment? Or any of the other breif times he’s on for such a short period of time? He acts absolutley normal around everyone, but then leaves the strangest leaving messages. But everyone plays it off, that’s just Fit! He’s just a having fun!
There’s something about it that just doesn’t sit right with me. There’s something wrong with q!Fit and I don’t think his character is contiously aware of it. Instead of taking the warning signs seriously people have ignored them - and I think that’s going to blow up in their faces.
