Guardian really set my expectations of "censored bl cdramas" and man that was a high bar and probably not fair of me to expect.

Here's my number A-Lan call me" which like even on face value id say thats called flirting (unless I guess ur so straight Straight blinders on that 2 men have to physically fuck in front of u to consider something gay)

Then of course there's shen weis pining shit but like, that's not Hammer down obvious to I guess the most oblivious person in denial

But Zhu Hong saying she likes Zhao Yunlan, Zhao Yunlan repeatedly refusing her and feeling bad about it, Zhu Hong repeatedly acknowledging he picked SHEN WEI over her (making it fairly clear it was a romantic pick and she Lost it to a guy) and shen Wei, brick that he can be at times, tells her it will only take a few years for the feelings to fade when she'll get over Zhao yunlan. The guy in love with him, instead of her. Yeah shen wei, she's definitely not wishing she could stab you for that insensitive remark. But she's too good of a person to.

Which. I'd say the above two points establish fairly overtly that: Zhao Yunlan is into men, that his colleagues assume he's also into women (if Zhu Hong thinks she has a chance), and that Shen Wei is Zhao Yunlans romantic pick. So Shen Weis sexuality? Well he doesn't dispute being Zhao Yunlans romantic pick, and Lin Jing assumes they're lovers with dialogue (yes he's saying opposite day stuff but his opposite day is just not being a liar and spy). So Shen Weis sexuality includes Zhao Yunlan.

And so like that's just. Fairly overt explicit stuff about their relationship. There's also the "a very oblivious person could argue its only implied" flirting. (And everything going on with Lao Chu and Xiao Guo, the side couple... oh my heart ;-; when they almost froze... the family dinner at Xiao guos... Lao chu admiring how kind Xiao Guo is, scaring him trying to say he's a cannibal and Xiao Guo not running away)

There's the coat sharing macho trying to be the man helping the damsel both of those fuckers do galore, shen wei moving in across the hall (which is either stalker or deeply in love or - as is true, both), shen wei implicitly moving in (this one's vague ill admit to be fair), the fucking "You're good with your hands" line from Zhao yunlan which is absolutely a porn line, every villain in the show viscerally aware Zhao Yunlan is who Shen Wei wants to protect, Ye Zun pretending to be Shen Wei by calling Zhao Yunlan cute names and asking if his outfit looks nice (and all of That), Zhao yunlans romantic ass hit me through the heart line of "if you're trouble I want a lifetime of you" at the wedding (not ever over it), the fucking lollipop scene in ye old haixing. Just a bunch of flirty type scenes, romantic tropes galore. And that's not even covering the actual genuine subtext of ALL the cases paralleling how shen wei and/or how Zhao yunlan feel implicitly (which are just subtext to be fair... how shen wei thinks he lost kunlun, how Zhao yunlan ISNT him so it hurts he's a stranger or he IS in which case he's a liar and shen weis grieving, the case where a dixingren and human love each other and Zhao yunlan notices he wants to be close to shen wei even though shen weis lying etc).

Like. They felt as canon as Tara X Willow in Buffy. Or at least as much as Xena x Gabrielle, the center relationship of the show where all stories of the episodes are always at least in some way about them.

It's so odd that the chef spares them a dehumanizing stare, genuinely perceiving these people in the likeness of mere creatures as soon as they're on his kitchen- And yet, you're somehow not in that category to him. Mercifully. Bizarrely. Suspiciously.

But hey, you had thought earlier, things already went to shit. You're never making it out of here. So you might as well lean into some less graceful urges.

Oh.

You had been fixated on the clean cut across the body's throat, having tuned out some of the chef's droning about how you have to cut around the anus and use zip ties to properly pinch it off, or what to do with the genitals -Testicles and such in this case- If you want to keep them. It's genuinely fascinating stuff to learn. Morell seems endlessly giddy to be teaching you this, and you're equally happy to obscenely watch him manhandle his meat stock.

A blink is all you offer when he finishes cutting off the upside-down dead man's shaft, placing it aside.

" Dingus. " He reprimands. " What do we do now? "

There's a pause as you flick through some shelves in your brain, pushing excitement aside. Well... Oh yes, you like this part.

" Uhm, cut from sternum to groin. "

The shroom lights up, grinning wide. " Smart piggy. " There's a breathless quality to his voice, his cheeks are vaguely blue with flustered enthusiasm, and there's blood stains on his smock where he's been palming at himself with a free hand whenever he wasn't using both to secure "the pig". You shudder, though Morell's next words are what makes a shine sparkle in your eyes.

" Ya wanna do this part, pumpkin? "

Your loins jump.

" Yes! Y- Yes please. "

He murmurs something into his scarf, as heated as you are, fetching a different knife from the table beside him, something you can handle. The chef moves to stand behind you, handing over the sharp utensil and pinching the skin where you need to start cutting. You can feel how hard he is and try to grind backwards, rewarded with a chaste bite to the shoulder.

" Focus. " He warns, playfully patting your hip. " Remember, slow an' easy, ya don' wanna puncture any organs. Gravity's gonna help ya some anyway. "

There's no way you'll make a mistake here, it's the part you like seeing him do the most, after all. Saliva sticks to your throat as you start zipping down carefully, hairs standing on end from the distinct sound of skin splitting apart. At some point, Morell's heavy breathing has you whining quietly in arousal.

" Fuck yeah, piglet. Ya got a talent. " He praises, as you appear to be doing exceptionally well for a first timer. Pride swells within you.

His hands go from stroking over your sides feverishly to sliding into your pants, rubbing at you through the thin fabric of your underwear with bloodied digits. Although your eyelids flutter and your legs tremble slightly, you're able to pull the main entrails out as they hang off their husk. Morell whispers praise for your prowess, occasionally commenting about how lucky he is to have found you.

Having been turned on beyond measure since the very start of this whole process, it doesn't take too long before you're getting close, bucking into the monster's rough motions while shakily cutting away at persistent connective tissue. He moans low at the sight and you honestly think you'll come if he does that again.

When you believe the step is completed, you fully give into the chef's lewd rubbing, head tossing onto his back as you desperately chase after that sweet coil, holding onto his arms, clipping out moans, so very close-

Until that hand slips out your pants.

And, to be perfectly frank, only the smallest bit of self-control prevented you from stabbing him in frustration.

" But-! "

Morell barks his laughter, teasingly slapping your now sensitive nethers, before placing a chaste peck on your cheek.

" Hold them horses, we ain't even got to tha ribs, darlin'. "

Absolute asshole. At least this part is good too.

Morell's eyelid twitches, he seems to steam like a kettle on a stove. " 'Course sweetie. "

Okay, snippet of an alternate Cyber!Earth where Jack is directly under Soundwave’s care and Project Morpheus.

(Aka how Soundwave became deeply entwined with the Darbys in this strange, new world.)

Warnings: Mental manipulation, dubcon, implied cannibalism, blood eating, body horror, offscreen torture

“I wanna see Mama.” It wasn't a demand as much as an ask, desperate and yearning as a lost sparkling could be.

Soundwave allowed it because Jack calmed his mother down enough to slip unheeded, a crack in those mental defenses that either repelled him or attempted to eat him.

Jack, as always, was careful to stay at his heels. Quiet like a shadow and so easy to miss, if it wasn't for the occasional tug he did, every now and then. Less of a call for attention more akin to an assurance that he wasn't untethered to the world and be carried away.

He carried him as they stepped off the elevator. Easier to keep track before the sparkling wandered away as they ventured into Shockwave's territory of the ship. Fewer personnel to antagonize his mother, and the ones too hotblooded or too stupid to realize dangers or heed the warnings? Well, their own damn fault.

Shockwave redesigned a holding pen for their recent, willing acquisition. Even from a distance, powerful magnets hummed and plasma sizzled.

“Mama,” the once human breathed to the other, hand reaching out into the lightless cell. Any and all equipment designed to collect data didn't work in that space. Not even a simple light fixture.

A shift and the darkness rippled and unspooled. Countless limbs skittering and plates grinding, lights flickered in the moving void as the massive frame condensed down.

Soundwave spied the vague shapes of Insecticon frames pinned neatly upon the side walls.

There was the familiar sound of birdsong and fluttering feathers as massivr servos gripped the bars, stripped of protective armor, right down to cables of musculature and bare endostructures, skeletal uncaring of the damage or perhaps able to withstand it.

The one called June Darby could escape. Easily. Nothing they designed could feasibly hold her monstrous frame that was beyond an average Cybertronian's capabilities.

“Jack.” The monstrous thing whispered, voice echoing throughout the chamber, a mantra. The EM field, once coiled, now pulsed out in heavy, cold waves, uncaring of everything else as it ate all in her vicinity. “Jack. Jack. Jack.”

Soundwave stared into a visible pair of eyes, haunting and bright on a vague, pale distortion of a face, like a moon hanging in the night sky, hidden by clouds, and slipped into her dreams again.

The dreamscape built concrete floors of an apartment complex and dense woods surrounding the distance. As always, there was rain, this time pattering gently.

Jack was in his arms, curled into his covered neck, both of them human and alone in the scenario. No one else, not even peripheral noise of a quiet town or animals. Just the rain.

The door opened to June Darby, ushering the two inside. Upon the walls, there were insects pinned with precise work, and if he listened carefully, there was strained, dying buzzing.

(If Arachnid didn't cease her focus on Jack Darby, then Soundwave wouldn't need to do anything once she tired of her colony's failures. June would crush her like she crushed every single strange creature that attempted to spirit him away.)

“I'm trying a new recipe.” She called out from the small kitchen, and he smelled spices. The knowledge passively filtered through his mind: cumin, paprika, cayenne, and pepper.

He stayed for dinner for returning Jack from his adventures in the trees.

(Not quite a lie, the boy had a penchant for climbing high points and hunkering down in them.)

It tasted like Energon. Not from crystals or recycled from old rations. There was a peculiar twang on his lips and an electric crawl skittering down his throat.

Energon that was fresh from a living frame.

A dark reminder of his darker days, wandering and lost in the sunless crypts of Kaon's underbelly before Soundwave signed himself away to the gladiatorial clades.

He didn't stop eating. Fuel was fuel was fuel.

Nor did he question when the scene shifted to the living room, TV droning in an indecipherable language. All three of them were on the couch, Jack curled between them and tucked beneath a blanket.

The photographs, framed on the walls and dotting on shelving, stared at him, their discontent and growing wrath obvious.

GET OUT, those eyes demanded, and all the individuals morphed into a single, faceless, heavily-robed figure.

There was a scent of perfumed incense lingering in the air, unease pickling as the foreign defense mechanism of an intruder closed in. The rain pounded the windows, clawing at the glass.

Soundwave carefully nudged the dreamscape. One couldn't stop the sea, but one could guide a river. He needed to be extra careful not to be swept away and subsumed. Better by the water rather than what new game the Veiled One decided.

They're at a park. Vividly green and rain drizzling.

Woodchips wetly crunched beneath his steps as he eyed June pushing Jack's back.

There were others around them, vibrant and colorful, their faces distorted like melting paints, swirling down the drain as whispers and giggles echoed. He held still, mindful not to disturb as dream and memory blended, and it was difficult to tell which was which, and the wrong guess could lead to psychic backlash.

“This is a nice dream,” she sighed, leaning onto his shoulder, warm and real.

“How can you tell?” Even here, his voice was strange, no hints of the long-used distortion, nor did his throat pull from the damage. Perhaps it was an amalgamation of his repertoire to ground the experience. Perhaps it was his original one, aged up with a close approximate. No matter to him. Another mask to be utilized in the dreamscape. Not a broken vow.

“I never took Jack here.” He felt her head shift. “Look there, that tree gave the best rides.”

He followed her pointed finger to a darkly-colored tree, gently twisting its trunk to an easy sway for those riding tires hanging in its branches. From the distance, he spied gleams and glitters in its foliage as leaves showered the people beneath its presence.

They watched for a long time.

The corners rippled and Soundwave didn't flinch when he was pulled elsewhere, expecting another shift, but gently pushed back into his own head.

The vague face had taken on far more distinct features, serene with a motherly focus, and the powerful field calmed to an eddying sensation, like wading into a lake or during low tide. Another pair of large hands with intact protoform had a pool of Energon cupped in their palms as a smaller, skinny set easily bypassed the bars to feed Jack, utilizing micro-transformations to form a spoon with her own fingers.

Jack simply ate, frame crooning at the attention, easily finishing the offer. The spoon morphed into a thin vine, wiping away the excess before returning into a hand, affectionately rubbing a cheek and his neck before parting away.

She pulled back, resettling in the room. Shadows didn't expand, simply curled and still. Pleasantly calm and amiable in the continued presence.

Jack sighed, squirming to resettle on his back. For a moment when Soundwave met Jack's optics, burning bright in that strange grey-blue, Soundwave caught wisps of memories: blood-soaked trees and stained hands with chunks of metal and raw crystal, eyes crushed or pecked out and eaten as well.

The little femme in Starscream's care wasn't the only bloodthirsty thing. No matter how quiet or relatively docile the sparkling was, there was that same bloodthirst and cruel streak.

"Mama's gonna wake up soon," Jack murmured sleepily into his bare neck as they walked away. Dark wings fluttered, and June's gaze never wavered.

In research for finding a way for you to eat them they found out that heat removes the effect for whatever reason. They don't question it, just bake away like they always do and hope you don't notice the bandages around their arm

Say, I've been reading your analysis on the EGOs and abnormalities they come from, and I'm curious as to your thoughts on the pairing of So Nobody Will Cry and Fairy Gentleman.

So this is gonna be the first time I'm analyzing just the Abnormalities themselves, since there's no actual E.G.Os tied to them yet, so it might end up being a shorter post than usual.

Also, before anyone says, no I'm not counting the Lobotomy E.G.O IDs as E.G.Os for the sake my method of analysis, mainly because the amount of content available for analysis on an ID is very different to that of an E.G.O.

Got that? Alright. Gonna go under the cut as usual.

Since we're looking at just the Abnormalities, I'm gonna try to go into as much detail as I can, though there's still a chance that I miss things.

So That No One Will Cry is a doll covered in talismans, which its Observation Log reveals to be a form of curse. In its Mirror Dungeon event, it can be seen in a dark candle-lit room with those same talismans covering the walls.

What we know about the talismans is that they grant power, but also bind and restrict whoever wears them. Removing the talismans from the walls in the Mirror Dungeon event causes the candles to burn brighter and brighter, until the doll gets up on its own when all of them are removed to give something to the Sinners. If the talismans are removed from the doll, it will kneel, but not do anything else.

I think the text during the Mirror Dungeon event is quite interesting, as it keeps pondering on what the doll itself is wishing for. Does it wish for its room to be covered in talismans? Does it wish for those talismans to be removed? When its talismans are removed, does it kneel begging for them to not be taken away, or is it in gratitude?

The themes are a bit vague on this one, but I think it's mostly focused on the idea of something being both a blessing and a curse. Something that gives safety and power, but at the cost of making one bound and trapped.

I think the name of the Abnormality fits that theme, and could likewise be interpreted in two ways. The talismans could be blessings that keep people from crying, as they give them safety. However, they could also be curses that ensure nobody will cry through entrapment rather than comfort.

Now onto the other one.

Fairy Gentleman seems to be connected to the Fairy Festival Abnormality from Lobcorp, and in a way parallels it.

As a reminder, or to those who don't know, Fairy Festival is a group of cute-looking fairies that follow employees around and care for them. However, it's revealed that these fairies are in fact carnivores that are only caring for humans as a way to keep their meat fresh.

Fairy Gentleman has similar ties to cannibalism, however it seems like this abnormality prefers to consume other Fairies over humans,.

Another interesting note, is that while Fairy Festival are only feigning their kindness, Fairy Gentleman seems to be genuinely cordial and jovial, despite its more imposing appearance. It's also interesting to note that when fighting Fairy Gentleman, the Abnormality doesn't seem to be treating the ordeal too seriously, as all of its attack names imply all it wants to do is get everyone as drunk as it is.

While the theme of gluttony is obvious here, I think we could add irresponsible indulgence in here as well. With the usage of alcohol imagery, the fact that the fairy wine is horrible in every regard besides its taste, and the way Fairy Gentleman urges others to share its drink, I think it adds up well enough.

As for why they might be paired up... it might be the overarching theme of overuse or overindulgence? So That No One Will Cry's talismans are helpful until there's too many of them, at which point they become a curse. Fairy Gentleman's offer of wine is kind, and the drink itself tastes great and has healing properties, but the rest of the drinking experience is horrible and leaves the person really drunk.

Hazbin Hotel Episode 7 blind blogging.

spoilers and whatnot.

BITCH YOU WERE HARMED!!! What? Vaggie saying that she didn't know angels could be harmed is insane. Maybe the thing that harmed you was used to kill that angel, how was that not an idea that popped into their heads? I didn't have much to say until 4 and a half minutes in cuz it was mostly the clip that was already released. I was thinking about not even doing this until Charlie and Vaggie started talking about what to do about the angels. Working back a bit cuz I guess I'm doing this now. Pen petting the cat was cute. It's odd that none of the other hotel gang have questions about Vaggie being an angel. Like, she was down there killing sinners. For them to be alright with her, while Charlie, the one who is forgiving to an actual fault, is the one with the problem is odd. Yeah, they're girlfriends, but Vaggie's reasoning is 100% something Charlie would roll over and accept no questions asked.

Anyway, I’ll add it hear, cuz why not, but like why isn’t Angel more invested in the redemption plan. Earlier in the season at least. Cuz proof or not, that would be the best way for him to get away from Val.

He’s only at the hotel so he doesn’t have to live with him, but if Angel could get into heaven, then that’s it. Now, knowing that no one knows how to actually get into heaven (if the hotel gang even know that yet), it makes sense that he’s not enthusiastic. But if not, then he should be a pushy about it as Charlie.

Okay back to the episode in progress.

Alastor's image in the window was a neat shot, loved that. Very curious to see what he wants Charlie to do for him.

Charlie never being to cannibal town kinda bothers me. Like she wants to redeem sinners, but she clearly doesn’t know much about them. As the princess of hell, she should at least care enough to know something like what region is the least violent or vaguely peaceful.

More children in hell, this continues to bother me. Also, I’m not found of Rosie’s voice. It isn’t bad, it just doesn’t seem to fit her.

How does not one know what Hell’s royalty look like? Like what is the point of the Morningstar’s being referred to as royals if it means nothing? They might as well be know as the oldest family in hell, it would have the same weight.

Carmilla, my girl is back on screen. And she proves my point. Being a princess of hell is not a title with any weight or power. Also, bold of Vaggie to thing she wasn’t going to get jumped the second she stepped outside.

My girl’s point out the facts, Charlie’s actions have only made things worse. Susan is me whenever Carmilla isn’t on screen.

Lol Charlie finally snapped.

First, Carmilla with her hair down, love that. Second, ITS AN ANGELIC SPEAR!?!? No one else caught that!?!? REally?

Vaggie swings around and angelic weapon and not only did she not think someone would notice, no one fucking noticed!

How did Vaggie not know that she could be harmed? Don’t the angels go through training or something, or is it whoever wants to be on the murder squad gets to go? What is the logic in this?

(monotone) oh wow I was right angelic weapons harm angels.

These characters are so stupid i hope heaven wins.

Not to doubt my girl, but how does Carmilla know this much about angels? It’s implied that none of them have been hurt or killed before, but she’s talking like she’d been doing this for a while.

Also, what is the point of Vaggie being an angel is she knows literal nothing about them and has to be taught how to fight against them.

I’m sorry, but no. The angels leave their spears lying around and NO ONE has ever taken one and tried to use it against them in self defense and succeed, ever? I refuse to believe that. The exterminations happen every year, not one ever had the idea to fight back using the angels own spears. In an environment were killing and fighting is the norm. Bullshit.

An overlord of hell singing about how fighting for love is the key is kind of…off.

Her wings came back? Why? Because of love…does that mean she just didn’t love Charlie enough?

The song is flat and kinda boring. Visuals are alright, a lot of jumping around. But Carmilla’s on screen and I’m a simple critter, so 4/10 i guess.

Charlie just coming out and telling someone she just met that Vaggie is an angels feels dangerous. Like these guys have been killing sinners forever, like, people finding out should put a huge target on Vaggie’s back.

(Deep inhale) the song has not started yet, BUT if Charlie’s singing explanation works this time and the only reason it hasn’t in the past is because she’s been doing it to the wrong crowd, im going to loose it.

No, the problem wasn’t that she was delusional and didn’t thing her plan all the way through, its just she wasn’t doing it to the right sinners /s

Charlies problem of singing her way through things is going to be linked with Lilith isn’t it?

Destiny did not pick her for anything. The problem she, and the rest of hell, is facing is caused by her direct actions. That’s not destiny, that’s cleaning your own mess.

The cannibals weren’t convinced by her singing, they just want to eat the angels. A think Alastor tells them. Why is charlie even here? He could have walked up that gazebo and asked if they wanted to try angel meat, they would have agreed and he’d be like cool but you have to fight for it. Like what?

Charlie is put off by the cannibal town wanting to murder, where does she think she is? Why does she think she’s recruiting them? They angels aren’t going to go away after a bit of push back, death is going to happen.

Her naivete is leaning towards stupid, she has not idea about anything.

She singing like she’s a leader, so are rosie and alastor, but they crowd isn’t even excited about defending hell or seeing new places, or whatever charlie is trying to say. They want angel flesh, that’s it. Charlie isn’t a leader her, she’s just a messenger for an idea that isn’t her’s. The hotel and hell being defended would just be a byproduct of the cannibals killing enough angel for their own goals.

And suddenly everyone is singing together about fight heaven for no reason.

She’s not going to question the wings at all? After all that moping and complain? No one in the crowd is going to react to an angel after just singing about killing them? Cool

Charlie and Vaggie aren’t going to talk things out at all?

Ending thoughts:

This episode (season) felt rushed. Not time to sit on anything. Not Vaggie being an angel. Not charlie or anyone prepossessing that. Not charlie finally convincing a larger group of people on her side, nothing.

These episodes needed to be twice as long or have twice as many at least. Nothing has saying power.

Besides defending all of hell, there’s isn’t any reason why the hotel gang couldn’t just evacuate the building and stay somewhere else if they were that sure angels couldn’t be stopped. They could have stayed with lucifer for a day, I doubt the angel bother him.

None of the accomplishments in the episode felt earned. Alastor gave charlie all the answers. Vaggie had to learn about the weaknesses of angels despite being one. She’s only been down there for three years, so it isn’t like she forgot overtime.

Neither of the songs were that good. Overall this is probably the worst episode for me.

While the monsoon rains and thunder hammer away at the glass windows to my right, and the world is a mix of heavy greys and distant solar lights, lets chat about Noir Peter (herein referred to as Pete), wearing a mask perpetually throughout ITSV, and Aunt May.

(Short essay below the cut, includes comic panels taken from the 2009 run of the Spiderman Noir comics, canon typical violence)

Now I know that the common headcanon, or perhaps a recent headcanon that's been passed on in the small circle of consistent noir blogs I follow, is that Pete wears his mask and doesn't take it off once within the timeframe and events of ITSV because of facial scars.

But, as a Spiderman Noir comics fan, I would also like to posit another possibility - Pete doesn't take off his mask in ITSV, especially at first, because the "spidergang" is staying over at Aunt May's home.

If you aren't familiar with the comics, Pete has a very important but strained relationship with his May - one that is specifically put under strain by Spiderman's choice to kill The Vulture to protect her. Everyone in the household has a strong sense of justice, but ultimately, Pete and May's moral compasses are far different, especially Pete when put under the threat of May getting.. cannibalized.

The aftermath doesn't go well.

Assuming similar or identical canons (though I know a lot of people seperate ITSV entirely from the comics, which I respect), a Pete that had just been through these events wouldn't exactly be all that comfortable showing his face around her.

Because, no matter his convictions, her fury clearly shakes him. Her and Uncle Bens beliefs is much of everything he is, so to be faced both with the fragility of her life and then forced to reckon with the fact she didn't want to be and in fact hated how she was saved..

How could he look a May in the eyes and take off his mask, willingly?

The dialogue is this portion of the comic is interesting, because it does vaguely imply that May might be guessing this is Pete (calling him Young Man and being as dissappointed as she is furious, along with demanding his gun), which makes it hurt all the more - perhaps its easier to handle the moral ambiguities of your violent actions when your worlds are more seperated. Earth 1610 knows that Spiderman is Peter, but for his own sake, Pete perhaps keeps the mask on to keep those worlds of his feeling divided.

13 Nights of Halloween: Campfire Stories; Story Six

Title: Madame Francesca

Storyteller: Natasha Romanoff

Summary: A murderous madame and her famous pot pies.

Umm, angst; implied cannibalism; murder; mild language; missing people; mentions of vomiting; someone being arrested; police; mentions of skeletal remains; and I think that’s about everything. When the following night rolled around and everyone was gathered around the fire once more, Natasha couldn’t help but feel a bit excited to tell her story, even if it was a little messed up.

“So, is everyone ready for a story?” Natasha inquired as she glanced around her group of friends. She smiled as she felt Bucky had started to rub her shoulder.

“Yeah, I’m down for another story.” Kate answered as she leaned back in her chair, getting comfortable.

“Oh yeah, I’m ready to see what you’ve come up with.” You chirped, excitement in your voice.

“Great! So, if everyone is ready, I’ll get started.” Natasha beamed, she cleared her throat before she started her story.

“Alright, so growing up, there was this sweet neighbor of ours. Lena, I don’t know if you remember her, but this neighbor was Madame Francesca.”

“I think I vaguely remember her, didn’t she move?” Yelena asked, her brow arched.

“I’m getting there, I just wanted to see if you remembered. So, like I was saying, our neighbor, Madame Francesca, was this sweet, older lady and throughout the years she would supply her neighbors with these delicious pot pies. Everyone loved them and whenever someone would ask for her recipe, she would simply smile and say it was a family secret. I remember that my mom would constantly ask for the old lady’s recipe and she was always disappointed when she was told no. Another thing that I remember is that my mom always tried to recreate those pot pies and she would try everything. She tried chicken, turkey, pork, venison; you name it, she tried it. But it was never the same as how Madame Francesca made them. They were always just slightly off.

“It was hard telling how long she had been making those pot pies for, as far as I knew it, it had only been a year; two years at the most. But when she did make them, and was handing them out, the neighbors flocked to her house. People couldn’t believe that she was just giving these delicious pot pies out for free and never asked for anything in return. She was happy just to be doing something for her neighborhood, or so it seemed. One day, there was a buzz in the neighborhood, somebody had gone missing. The family was devastated and months later the gentleman still hadn’t been found; and at that point, I think everyone had assumed the worst. Shortly after that, Madame Francesca had a new batch of pot pies ready to share with her neighbors. Rumors started to spread on why Madame Francesca wouldn’t release her ‘secret recipe’. The neighbors were whispering that Madame Francesca used human meat in her famous pot pies. This rumor spread so quickly that it reached the ears of the police officers and they had to check it out. Especially when the family of the missing man pleaded with them to do so. A few days later and the neighbors were all gathered outside and they were shocked at the scene before them. I remember my mom ushering me inside but that didn’t stop me from watching from the window.

“Along with my fellow neighbors, I was shocked to see Madame Francesca being brought out in handcuffs. I could see people whispering and even saw a couple of them throwing up. Later, we found out that the police had found the missing gentleman with several missing limbs and deceased. It turns out that her secret ingredient had in fact been human meat. The police found several skeletal remains in her backyard as well. The whole community was outraged and wanted to see Madame Francesca burn for her crimes. Eventually, after a long trial, she was and was sentenced to spend the rest of her life in prison. Community cookouts and gatherings were never the same and eventually, they were just canceled. Even though Madame Francesca was caught, the neighborhood never fully healed from her evilness.”

“Damn, that’s fucked up, Nat.” Johnny said bluntly, but he looked like he was still trying to wrap his mind around it.

Yelena’s mouth was agape and all she could do was stare at her sister. After a moment, she shook out of her state and spoke. “Why didn’t anyone tell me? Do you know how many of those I ate?!”

“Mom and dad thought it was better you didn’t know.” Natasha answered, turning to look at her sister.

“No way did that happen.” Andy countered, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Why do you think I’m a vegetarian?” Natasha quipped back.

“I think I’m gonna join you.” You chimed in, your stomach feeling queasy suddenly.

A cold breeze blew through the camp, giving goosebumps to everyone in the group. You scooched closer to Steve as the fire flickered and popped. But you found yourself wondering which of your friends would tell the next story.

“I’ve got one.” Air spoke up after a while. “Not quite as dark as cannibalism, but I still think it’s pretty good.
