It's a pretty strong rumor and it's not just some stupid shippers made the rumor but an actual Korean reporter, who have made numerous videos that turned out to be true and is considered as one of the authentic paparazzi lol. Something I think that’s likely gonna get raised is the whole Sherlock asexuality thing so lemme discuss that for a moment
Long post, not sorry.
TLDR: Sherlock’s not asexual, he’s homosexual af.
As a Johnlock shipper, I am biased.
I’m also a victim of constant spoilers (mid Season 3 rn, I’ve been busy with life stuff and since they’re so long it can be hard to find the time between working on my debut EP, weekly therapy and social relationships) and I can say my interpretation of Sherlock’s sexual orientation confidently.
I have read a little thing on Asexuality.org about why the person who wrote it thinks he’s not asexual. Person is question is also a Johnlock shipper and raised points on other adaptations of Sherlock and the original ACD books and I didn’t know this but ACD married John off to Mary OUT OF FEAR because this was the “homosexuality is illegal” time period and even then people thought knew Sherlock and John were in love. I can’t say ACD intended for Sherlock to be gay or John to be bisexual or whatever (John is definitely bisexual. I’m like ‘sure, you’re not gay. didn’t say he wasn’t bi’ also just THE WAY HE LOOKED AT SHERLOCK I FEEL WEAK) but the evidence was there from the start.
Sherlock isn’t really a sociopath either. He’s definitely autistic/Aspergian (the term is kinda dead though because Asperger was a Nazi or something idk my therapist still uses it) and as someone who is also autistic, I absolutely see this. I have social issues. I will avoid people I don’t like and I will eventually cling to the few people I trust without question (John’s that for Sherlock) to the point of obsession. And logical thinking. I do that too. I’m still nowhere near as smart as him, and I’m not as antisocial as him either.
i think it might be worth noting that after i wrote that paragraph i mercilessly informed a classmate that i don’t want to attend her party because I don’t like her with no regard for her feelings before telling off some girls staring at a poster of the men’s swim team reminding them that the poster’s not a dating app. I am literally blonde american genderqueer bisexual not-as-smart teenage Sherlock.

It’s not a lack of interest in romance and sex. Hell, if you’ve read my posts you’d know I’m a hopeless (horny) romantic. I think for both of us it’s a lack of interest in being social with other people that still finds its way into being inconvenient due to occupations that involve interacting with other people (I don’t know if I’ve ever disclosed what I intend to do after college, but if I haven’t, I’m not gonna say it now, but it’s going to involve working with other people A LOT. And Sherlock’s a detective after all, you have to talk to other people for that). It’s a select few people. John, Molly, Mrs. Hudson, Irene for the time she was there.
And let me be clear; Irene was never with Sherlock in the source material and I’m very happy adaptations stay true to that (this is coming from someone who’s only seen BBC Sherlock and the RDJ movies). Irene intrigued him. He looked not on naked Irene in a sexually admiring way but still looked because he knew her measurements. And the RDJ movies, despite Mary being there for the whole time, pushed Johnlock wayyyy more than it pushed Adlock (apparently it’s Adlock). I applaud that.
As for Sherlock being gay, us as the audience not being masters of deduction, people who suggested it in the show (Irene, Mrs. Hudson, Louise Mortimer, etc.) also not being masters of deduction yet we see it! We know it’s there and maybe Sherlock sees it. Maybe he doesn’t. It’s still there. It’s been pointed out that the way Sherlock looks at John IS THE SAME way Benedict Cumberbatch looked at Sophie Hunter in one photo, so… yeah. 🏳️🌈
The way I see Johnlock is more fluff than smut by a long shot, but that doesn’t make Sherlock asexual. A lot of relationships don’t have frequent sex. A good percent of people only have sex to have children, and that’s not just religious people either. I think they do do it, just not a lot.

Today is the first day of my blog :), today was pretty good, but i couldn’t find my student ID and i was freaking the fuck out! I texted my mom and she said not to worry about it and that i can just ask for a new one. I was nervous to but i went along. Then i got to on the bus with my friend rayna and i asked her if she could get my new ID with me since i was nervous, she said yes and we finally got to the school where we saw some older women standing in a hall. “Hey she forgot her ID” rayna said “First period.” the lady said we were confused but didn’t care that much, if anyone asked about my ID i would just tell them what was going on. Then we headed straight for the gym like we were told we sat there and waited to be allowed to walk to class, i forgot what my first class was called but we basically learn how to photoshop, animate, and code a little. My teacher (let’s call her Mrs.Tech) gave us our new schedule because the decided to change it i guess? Mrs.Tech asked us some weird questions though, like no relation to the class questions? “Is Cardi B better than Niki Minaj?” weird af but go off i guess. Then i went to my second class which was math, due to our schedule change my other friend Jaida was in my math block :D my teacher (lets say Mrs.Math) kept on talking about shrek and other stuff, then we heard the school speakers go on “if you do not have your ID badge then please come down to the library.” The women on the speaker repeated what she said once more as i made eye contact with Mrs.Math and pointed to my neck where my ID badge should’ve been. She sent me down to the library where i got my picture taken and the printed out my ID. IT LOOKED LIKE A MUGSHOT PHOTO. It was so embarrassing but it’s better than what the original picture was lol. fast forward a couple classes because i’m tired and my fingers hurt, i made a friend named Carter and he’s really nice to me! he kinda looks like that gay kid from south park (the pic should be down there) but we hung out a lot and then i went to lunch where i found my other friends and we joked around about my ID and my squished nutella sandwich i had made that same morning (note to self, get a container next time instead just a ziplock baggie) time skip again and it’s dismissal, i get on my bus and go home. ANOTHER TIME SKIP IM SORRY ITS GETTING LATE 4 ME!! i’m eating dinner with my mom and we’re talking about me moving in with her in maybe a month because we both think i’ll be happier with her than my dad. I can talk more about that soon if you guys want. then we go take a walk and just talk about stuff from when my parents were together. then i’m back home where my dad is being a bit of a bitch but i’m sure he was just tired <:). now i’m here :D! also there are a lot of pretty alt girls that go to my school! I made sure they knew that. now i’m in bed about to head to sleep while listening to spotify in a dark super hot room. Stay safe sweethearts!

Say pezberry were canonically crushing on each other (and they were) How do you think Rachel would react to Dani in Tina in the Sky? Do you think she would suppress her feelings and tell Santana to go after Dani like we saw onscreen or would she mope around in that Rachel way until they both confess their crushes. Basically I want a season 5 AU lol
So the way a season 5 AU exists in the Pezberry third of my brain is remarkably similar to what we get in canon. Which says so much about canon really, doesn't it?
- 5x02: Rachel is totally encouraging of Dantana. In fact, she tells Santana this emphatically after they all sing Let it Be, and spirals into a drunken tirade about all of Santana's amazing qualities, which leads to an accidental kiss. Presumably this is after Dani's gone home, and Kurt is in the bathroom or something. It's very brief, they pull away in a bit of a daze and stare at each other in confusion. Uh oh. End of episode.
- 5x03: The Quarterback plays out exactly as per canon.
- 5x04 - 5x07: Santana is cool to let the whole thing slide if Rachel is. Which Rachel is relieved about, given Finn just died. They go on as friends. Santana dates Dani. Occasionally we get random cutaways to Rachel giving them side-eye while they're being coupl-y, but that's it.
- 5x08: Previously Unaired Christmas plays out nearly the same as canon, only Santana wakes up in Rachel's bed instead of on the floor, so the subtext is just a little heavier than it was in the original episode. Spicy.
- 5x 09: Frenemies can be the same as canon too, but lean into the underlying wives getting a divorce vibe a little bit more. I'd want to keep the end scene the same, but have Kurt be genuinely baffled by Rachel's overreaction and call that out in front of Santana while they're all talking. Rachel falters because she doesn't have an answer, then continues to be mean. We see it all click into place for Kurt when he notices Santana's reaction to Rachel tearing the Pezberry photo up on the way out of the door. End on him watching Santana watch Rachel leave, like this:
- 5x10: Trio. Literally just amp up that gay af candle scene. One Three Hill interrupt as per canon, and we get Rachel reacting to the Dantana cheek kiss (or trying not to).
- 5x12: 100. Same same. Especially the bit where Rachel glares at Santana pre-Valerie. Love that for me. Just cut the crappy girls tearing down other girls Jonesberry bathroom moment, and instead have Mercedes follow Rachel to work out why the hell season 1 Santana just possessed their now-friend's body back there. Rachel can just blubber on a bit cluelessly, similar to canon about how she and Santana were close etc, only this time Mercedes is like:
Meanwhile 5x12 for Santana follows pretty much the same arc as canon, including the season 5 Churro kiss (sorry Brittanas, look away!), with one very juicy twist in the post-kiss convo:
Brittany: And, I'm sure your girlfriend's great, but-
Santana: *irritated* It's not that, it's-
Brittany: ... what?
Santana: Nothing
5x13: New Directions. Honestly again it's so similar to canon, especially 'I am Changing.' Because Kurtcedes scheming to get their pals together is literally what we were given already. Keep Britt watching Santana applaud, and keep the Pezberry bathroom scene exactly as is. Instead of the lilies scene, Brittany invites Santana to the choir room but she arrives to find Rachel standing in there alone, looking equally clueless. Kurt invited her there. The door slams shut - Kurt, Britt and Mercedes are on the other side. They've locked them in. We get two scenes of Pezberry forced to talk their crap out while stuck in the choir room together. Santana makes a similar apology to canon, but Rachel admits some guilt too. Santana resigns from FG and they decide to sing a song. We get Be Okay, but dial the heart-eyes up roughly 30%.
5x14 - 5x16: They take a back-seat. Santana and Dani breakup for reasons unrelated to Rachel, or so she says. Rachel is not so secretly thrilled about this, but proceeds to do nothing. Loft life returns to normal, but Sam/Artie/Blaine etc are there too. Fun.
5x17: Opening Night. As canon. Pezberry peptalk pretty much the same as canon. Have Pezberry dancing a little too closely during Pumping Blood and a charged moment or three.
5x18: The Backup Plan. Wouldn't change a thing. That Pezberry dinner scene was already way too fkn gay.
5x19: Old Dogs New Tricks. As above. Chaotic girlfriends. Just throw in some more heart eyes in some of the scenes then you're done. Also in the Kurcheltana group hug have Pezberry make direct eye contact. Charged. Oof.
5x20: Controversial, but I'd start by letting Santana actually be IN this episode. Crazy right? Anyway that weird screenwriter lady comes in to write Rachel's pilot and basically assumes Pezberry are a couple, which gets everyone talking about it, and also gives it to us via dream sequence when they're all reading the script. Neither side of Pezberry are horrified, just embarrassed. Santana snaps at Sam for laughing at the idea of them and surprises everybody, including herself. Storms out. Then we get a Pezberry scene where Rachel follows and Santana says the TV pilot is a mistake, but Rachel respectfully tells her she's doing it anyway. Santana lets it go and promises only to slightly mock her if it all goes sideways, which Rachel thanks her for. Then they part ways - Santana has a tour to get to with Mercedes, and Rachel is off to LA. It's bitter-sweet. Throw in some cute little moments in Pompeii for them too. Imagine them recreating the season 3 long distance gaze/walk over/handhold moment, but on the streets of NY instead?? Magnificent.
So that's how I see a Pezberry season 5 playing out in canon, if they'd nudged it to the left a smidge. In another world, it would've then set them up nicely for a proper romantic arc in season 6, but alas it was not to be.

Hello miss badapricot, I have been reading your lovely writer posts past few days and I love how you organize your thoughts and the way you articulate them. I also liked your fic ideas for them. I would really like to hear from you about how Gene finally fell in love with Nubsib, like how initially it was just mostly this hot dude who was flirting with him, and gradually he started getting charmed by the handsome bastard, and when he found out who Nubsib really was it sent his whole world into chaos because omg I totally get why he had a full on mental breakdown, imagine the little tinie tiny boy next door you played with as a child is now this Greek god devil you've been suppressing your boner for. Sheesh I'm not the most poetic. But maybe you can tell me your thoughts on how Gene realized and accepted his love for Nubsib, most importantly I'm searching for a reason for Gene to love sib not just because he's hot af but because he inexplicably makes him feel loved and cherished and taken care of and what not. I just want to hear it from you na krub. ☺️☺️☺️
Hello! I’m sorry this took me a few days to get to because your ask was so funny I wanted to come up with a really good response, because your way with words is just as good as mine.
If you’re asking me how Gene realized and accepted his love for Nubsib I can essentialize it down to a few key moments.
The first would be when Gene calls Nubsib to come and take care of him when he’s drunk. Gene is a very isolated person that hasn’t even let his own brother sleep in his condo but he trusts that Nubsib will come and take care of him after only knowing him for a short time, in part because of what happened in the previous episode. Nubsib soothed Gene’s nightmare and made him a big lunch for when he woke up. It isn’t the first time either as we see that Gene is very touched when Nubsib makes him food and reminds him to eat in earlier episodes. Nobody has taken care of Gene like that, mostly because he won’t let anyone close enough to even try. But Nubsib did, despite Gene’s performative complaining, and to me it made Gene feel protected and cared for, otherwise he wouldn’t have trusted Nubsib when he wasn’t in his right mind.
And Nubsib knows how much of a gift it is that Gene is trusting him, and clinging to him. I think that’s why he’s so protective and treats Gene so carefully once he picks him up. Nubsib proves that Gene was right to trust him and totally shocks Gene when he turns him down. Gene is certain that Nubsib just wants to f*ck him and wants to give it to him but Nubsib won’t because he cares about him too much. I think that realization—something Gene never even considered because his sole exposure to gay relationships are BL novels where non-consensual drunk sex is the norm—was a big part of Gene realizing his love for Nubsib. Gene never expected to be treated so preciously by him.
This isn’t a happy moment but I think another moment that really shows Gene realizing his love for Nubsib is his breakdown in the car. Gene is having a panic attack because he’s realizing that he’s in love with Nubsib and Nubsib is a liar. Nubsib might not even care about Gene. This might all be a prank. Gene is torn apart because he’s so disappointed in Nubsib and in himself for trusting his affection for him. Despite how he acts, Gene is a romantic and up until that point he did see Nubsib as a “perfect BL seme” to an extent. This is even shown in the OST where Nubsib is drawn as Prince Charming. But now Gene has to deal with the fact that Nubsib isn’t some prince, he might be someone completely different, and Gene’s given his heart to someone that he doesn’t even know.
A moment where I think Gene accepted his love for Nubsib would be at the garden mansion when Nubsib tells Gene how he became infatuated with him again when he saw Gene’s photo on Facebook. Nubsib was open, vulnerable, and honest and Gene rewarded that by consenting to a kiss without a lot of performative complaining for once. Because for Gene, it was the most honest Nubsib had been with him (barring his confessional speech on Gene’s lawn). Gene cuddling against Nubsib’s chest and resting there quietly felt like acceptance.
I would also point out a recurring theme more than a specific scene but Gene’s gradual submission to Nubsib’s wishes as their relationship goes on also feels like acceptance. Gene will still be combative when he feels that he’s being lied to, like when Nubsib drags him from the bathroom with Aey, but when he knows Nubsib has his best interest in mind he’ll accept what he asks for without complaint.
We can see this when he promises Nubsib to let him know where he is and he keeps up with it in Episode 10. He tells Nubsib when he’s out with Hin and texts him before he goes to swim. The reason Gene trusts Nubsib is because of the contrast in their personalities. Gene knows that he’s emotional, a bit of a space case, naive, and reserved. Nubsib is pragmatic, scheming, and street smart. As Gene starts to learn his real personality and Nubsib stops pretending to be an innocent kid, Gene gives more of himself to him.
Looks aside I think a large reason that Gene loves Nubsib is because of how protected, cared for, and cherished he makes him feel, because Gene is a person who doesn’t like a lot of attention and likes to be left alone. While Gene considers everyone else, nobody considers Gene, and that’s how he likes it. But Nubsib is someone who ONLY considers Gene and doesn’t care about anyone else.
In summary, there are lots of reasons outside of looks for Gene to love Nubsib. Because lots of people are handsome. But finding someone that loves so intensely and unselfishly is hard to find.
