🐍 Thank you so much again for the thorough response! I love how much thought you put into Nico, it’s so easy to tell how much you love him hehe. And yes the snake is because Jamil’s my favourite character! They also have very boopable snouts in real life. Ignihyde is full of introverts who like to stay in their own rooms, but also full of nerds who are super into whatever they’re interested in. I bet there’d be at least one or two people who like Mythomagic there if it were canon in twst (1/4?)

🐍, nobody in PJO canon seemed to share his interest so I’d love for if Nico could discover friendship through his favourite card game and be happy there… but him feeling right at home in Ramshackle with a small number of residents is also just so him. Will also strikes me as someone who’d be in RSA instead, so Nico having some people he’d be willing to stay for in NRC would be so important for him to not feel lonely. Yuu and Grim to the rescue, I hope he likes cats. (2/?) 🐍 I’d give so much to see him feel accepted and brighten up a bit more.I’ll be honest I am super, super bad at making headcanons and writing so I really enjoy reading other people’s stuff far more, I always feel embarrassed about my own ideas or just can’t come up with much. BUT Leo in Ignihyde - I think he’d have a blast with all the technology lying around that he could play with and use for inventions, even if he’s weirded out by getting sorted into somewhere so gloomy-looking at first (3/?) 🐍He might not really get what other students are nerding out about like the latest anime though, he doesn’t strike me as the type to be super into shows and media (chronically offline). He’d have a lot of projects going on in his room all the time lying around that he keeps working on, but he starts more before he finishes them because he just has so many ideas. (4/?) 🐍 not sure how he’d interact with other Ignihyde students but I suuure hope Azul never notices all the cool stuff Leo’s making because he’d want to market them, stat. Leo’s not going to be good at reading those contracts down to the fine print. Also I know the curse is a Shroud family only thing but Leo + canon flame powers makes me so want to see him with fire hair as well haha. PLEASE do share if you have your own ideas about Leo in NRC, I’d love to hear them!! so before i reply to all of this i will say that there's actually a way to get around the silly 500-character limit in asks! it was removed ages ago in the app, but for some reason it's still in place on the website… unless you go to the dashboard view of someone's blog (so that'd be this link for my blog) and send an ask from there. that lets you send an ask with up to 4,096 characters. don't ask how i discovered that limit LMAO. but that should work so you can stay anonymous if you want!

i love nico a ridiculous amount lol, he was my favorite PJO character ever since i first read the original books. and even though i do have some issues with the sun and the star, i still love his development. it actually reminds me a lot of how idia, even though his anxiety definitely hasn't gone away, has been shown since the end of book 6 to be making more of an effort to put himself out there and try to be friendly with his classmates because he does want to have friends, he's just traumatized and scared.

you have excellent taste for jamil being your fave. i should post some of my thoughts about scarabia on here at some point because i like both jamil and kalim a lot and could talk for ages about how fascinated i am by their dynamic, but some people have the most shockingly bad takes about jamil 😭 do you have any thoughts on what PJO cabin he'd be in?

that's true, i did think about how ignihyde probably has some students who'd be into mythomagic or a twst equivalent of it! but then i thought that since nico is still kind of closed off and most people in ignihyde are so unsociable that even cater has claimed to not have a single friend from there, he might not manage to connect with those people before transferring out. although it also occurred to me that maybe if he and leo were there in ignihyde at the same time, things could be a bit different?

see, i've always thought there were a surprising amount of similarities between leo and nico but the books never called attention to them since the two basically never got to interact. and i wish they had, because i think they could have an interesting friendship if they got to know each other better! so maybe in this AU they could be friends, and leo could be there encouraging nico to stay and helping him understand the tech. i've also gotten myself kind of attached to the idea of him moving into ramshackle though! i guess either idea could work, as long as nico gets to be happy.

i haven't had a chance to ask my friend (who i've referred to as a will solace expert because she has so many headcanons and thoughts about him) where she thinks will would end up yet! i do think that if he somehow ended up at NRC, he'd be one of the few light magic users there.

"i hope he likes cats" reminds me that i always thought it would be funny if nico DID like cats but was allergic to them. and still just insisted on having one anyway. well, hey, grim is constantly telling us that he's NOT a cat, so maybe he gets around this problem lol.

omg i totally get the feeling of being embarassed about your ideas, anon!! for the longest time i used to not really post any of my own thoughts because i feel like i'm not very creative and it made me nervous. i'm also not always the best at just thinking up general headcanons and ideas unless i've got some sort of prompt or theme to go by. even now sometimes i post headcanons about my favorite twst ships and such while thinking, what if everyone who reads this hates it. what if someone thinks my interpretation of riddle is so bad that i don't deserve my url ASKFJGFD.

i like your ideas about leo, though!! i did think a bit about how he might be as an NRC student, and i also thought he'd definitely adjust better than nico would (makes a lot of sense that he'd be weirded out by the gloomy atmosphere initially, though) and would be fascinated and excited by all the magical technology and gadgets. i also figure that since he is someone who's always seeking out quiet and personal space to be alone and work on his projects, he wouldn't mind too much that the students tend to keep to themselves. and canonically he tries to be a lot more of a loud outgoing jokester than he really is in order to cover up his insecurities and try to make people like him, so maybe he could make some friends there without feeling like he has to do that.

i think leo made a few pop culture references in the books (one i remember for sure is star trek, though he says he doesn't like it) so maybe he wouldn't quite be chronically offline but he also wouldn't be obsessive about it, because his engineering projects are his top priority. he's definitely not a gamer, but i could see him liking to have background noise while he works sometimes and putting on whatever anime everyone is talking about! …which makes me imagine one of his dorm mates getting annoyed at him because he wasn't paying enough attention to remember their favorite background character from episode 679 of one piece, lol.

oh him meeting azul would be a disaster for SURE lol, let's hope idia warns him and that he doesn't have any unfortunate encounters with floyd and jade. and i'm not sure what a fitting explanation for leo having fire hair would be but i do agree that it would be extremely cool. and for that matter, i guess we'd also need an explanation for idia and ortho's hair if they were in the PJO universe… my first thought is they could either just have normal hair (boring, but it works) or maybe it's an extremely rare hades kid thing.

More haikyuu!! pacific rim AU info please!!! (esp the Oikawa details you wanted to share!)

YESSSS thank you for asking !!!!!!!!!!! ok so here’s the deal, but under the cut bc this got. Long.

oikawa joined the jaeger program because iwaizumi did and he wasn’t about to let iwaizumi do it alone. that’s the primary reason, even if he won’t admit it. he will tell people his reasoning is stuff like i want to do my part to protect tokyo etc etc. ur typical hero stuff, yk? which is all partially true! but also a lot of the influence in the decision really was “i can’t let iwaizumi die alone.” he loves his best friend very much and wasn’t about to let him go into this dangerous world without someone at his side. Anyways.

so the fic starts with them drifting for the first time! it is in this first drift attempt—which is ultimately successful—that oikawa realizes iwaizumi’s in love with him.

which, really, is something he should have realized a LONG time ago. but he had very much been choosing to not think too hard about all the little signs iwaizumi had given, and so this kind of comes out of nowhere for him (and, honestly, for absolutely no one else).

so the first bit of the fic is him kinda coming to terms with that and trying to navigate their relationship while DEEPLY in denial that he loves iwaizumi back. there’s some internalized homophobia stuff here but more than that, there’s the fear that he’ll have iwaizumi and then iwaizumi will get killed. and oikawa can’t deal with that—with maybe having him and then losing him.

he can be brave about a lot of things: he can fight kaiju if iwaizumi is his other half, he can have verbal sparring matches with kuroo and come out unscathed, he can make fun of iwaizumi’s bedhead in the morning without being afraid of the resulting playful punch, he can face down death in this war against the kaiju.

but he can’t be brave about this. the idea of losing iwaizumi is unthinkable, the idea of loving so deeply someone who is lost even more so.

so he tells himself that they’re both happy with what they have. he tells himself that he’s satisfied with this friendship-bordering-on-more-but-they’ll-never-say-it-out-loud. he tells himself that iwaizumi’s satisfied with it too. and they just bear it, that tension between them, until it all snaps.

oikawa’s arc though the story (which is getting much longer than intended lol) is about learning to accept being loved and learning to love! he’s getting there! it just takes…some tragedy, first. i love him so much.

so the second bit of the fic is about him realizing that he does love iwaizumi and that’s the only thing he’s really sure of in life. it’s him realizing, oh. what’s the point in denying this when we could be happy for whatever amount of time we get?

then the last bit of the fic is , like, actual movie plot LOL. other plot stuff is happening while oikawa is having his crisis i promise, but like. you asked abt my most specialest character and so i simply must provide and forget about everything else that matters.

also u didn’t ask for this but i want to share so here’s a silly excerpt from the scene after the first time they drift:

Iwaizumi grins at him, unhindered by any worry, so unlike his strained smile before they had started. He had been more nervous than Oikawa, but that nervousness seems to have fallen away and all the tension has released from his shoulders. He looks calmer. “We did it.” “I don’t know what the big fuss was,” Oikawa laughs, nudging Iwaizumi’s shoulder with his own. “We had that completely under control.” Iwaizumi laughs a little. They’re walking towards the Mission Control room to do a debrief of their first attempt. Beforehand, they had been told to do so in order to talk about what they need to do better. But this felt good. Then Oikawa’s smile falters. “Iwa, what I saw, what I felt from you, about, um, about me—” Iwaizumi swallows, shaking his head, and Oikawa cuts himself off. “I don’t want to talk about it.” “Okay,” Oikawa says quietly. He thinks he could push the subject further, but he doesn’t want to ruin this any more. If Iwaizumi doesn’t—doesn’t want to talk about his feelings, then they won’t. Simple as that. Not talking about them, though, doesn’t make them go away. It isn’t going to change the fact that Iwaizumi is in love with him, and Oikawa doesn’t love him back.

hello! i don't know if u remember but i was the person that made the playlist for songs about toxic people (i only recently made a tumblr n an ao3 acc lol i was 'honeyed' commenter, no worries if u dont remember! )

i recently found some memories of me trying to put into words the giddy feeling i got after reading an update (which lead to me making a playlist,) and i wanted to say thank u for sharing ur work!! it made me super happy when i found it early on and it just kept getting better with each update. i meant to comment when the last chapter was out,, it genuinely made me sob at points, but also gave me such warm feelings i cant even articulate. it's one of my all time favorite fics ever, i still go back to read it for comfort.

i find myself thinking back to certain quotes at random times ( especially when i draw or think abt sanzu,) but also the mc!! the chapter 'every love story is a ghost' has a special hold on me. ah n the mikey oneshot 'pain and other pleasures.' ur writting has inspired me so much! (enough actually start writting out my own fic ideas instead of letting them wilt away in my head lolol)

ahhh i could go on forever i apologize for the rambling im sure this is super messy to read, but 'm def sticking around to read what u write up next c:

i love that sanji is arguably the most emotional of the group (aside from franky or chopper, but for them its just played for laughs) and that overemotional/low self esteem part is exactly what makes him so relatable. i actually really appreciate that oda gave that trait to a male character. sanji cries a lot and is overemotional and kind of hysteric sometimes jdvbvfjdk so im glad they didnt make it like nami or robin who was like that stereotype. Y/N sat on the couch, arms crossed with a pout on her face as she glared at the wall, listening to her boyfriends argue. The argument had started when Steve informed them that he had an important mission to go where the day he’d return would be after Y/N’s birthday. Bucky didn’t like that and insisted that he reschedule the mission, wanting him to be there for it, but Steve told him that he couldn’t reschedule. Bucky claimed that that was bullshit because Steve was the Avengers’ leader, but apparently Steve had been assigned this mission by S.H.I.E.L.D. to which Bucky wondered why Steve even took the mission because S.H.I.E.L.D. has so many agents, and as the argument continued, Steve accused Bucky of accusing him of not wanting to be there for Y/N’s birthday. That just escalated everything, and now they were shouting at each other.

It didn’t help that Y/N had no clue who to side with, because Bucky was trying to get her on his side with Steve not being there for her birthday and Steve was trying to get her on his side with what Bucky was supposedly accusing him of. On one hand. Y/N had to admit she wasn’t thrilled which Steve not being there for her birthday, but on the other she understood that S.H.I.E.L.D. needed him.

Right now, she was wishing she’d disappear into the couch cushions.

“Y/N, will you please tell Steve that him going on this mission is way less important than you?”

“I never said that, Buck!”

“Well, that’s how you’re acting!”

“Really? You’re jumping to conclusions!”

“You’re prepared to miss our girlfriend’s birthday!”

“Do you really think I want to? S.H.I.E.L.D. needs Captain America for this!”

“BOTH OF YOU - SHUT UP!” Y/N finally yelled over their loud voices, sitting forward and glaring at her hot-headed boyfriends who both had red cheeks and sweat glistening their foreheads.

They both turned to her, their clenched eyebrows, pointed fingers, furious eyes melted into what resembled a kid getting caught doing something they’re not supposed to. Bucky looked especially guilty while Steve mirrored a lost puppy.

Y/N let out a huge sigh and shoulders slumped as she took in the peace that was silence for a couple moments. Despite Bucky and Steve staring, confused, at her, the silence felt so much better than the insults and yelling that had previously intoxicated the air. Y/N leaned back against the couch and composed herself, first directing her words towards Steve.

“It’s okay, Steve. Yeah, it sucks. I’m not thrilled. But Fury knows when my birthday is, he knows our relationship, I think that if he went to you for this mission, that means he really needed you and you were the last resort - no offensive,” Y/N said, surprising herself with how calm and controlled her tone of voice was.

A ghost of a smile embraced Steve’s lips before Y/N turned to look at Bucky’s, who’s guilty look got 10x bigger. “Buck - I know I’m usually the more understanding one here-” she allowed herself a small smile to ease the tension that was practically radiating from the brunette. “But you’d understand that Steve doesn’t want to miss my birthday and that S.H.I.E.L.D. really needs him . . Makes me think that this is about something else. Is anything wrong?”

Bucky’s face instantly softened and he let out a short-lived sigh as he plopped down on the couch on Y/N’s left - Steve taking it as an invitation to do so on her right. Y/N immediately took Bucky’s left hand and Steve’s right in her own as Bucky wrapped his right arm around her waist and Steve put his left around her shoulders.

“I just . . . I dunno. I was worried about Steve getting hurt and wanted everything to be perfect for your birthday. I’m sorry Stevie and Y/N/N,” Bucky said, mumbling the last sentence into Y/N’s shoulder. (A/N: Y/N/N = Your nickname)

With his super soldier hearing, Steve heard it and leaned forward, reaching over Y/N to plant a kiss on Bucky’s forehead. “You have nothing to worry about. I’m sorry, too,” he said, his voice low but caring.

When Steve leaned back, Y/N pecked Bucky’s cheek. “And my birthday will be amazing. We’ll have another celebration when Steve comes home. I promise,” she said.

Bucky nodded and picked up his head. The three then sat on the couch in each other’s presence for a couple minutes until Y/N made a small noise of discomfort, removing her hand from Steve’s to rub her head.

“Everything okay?” Steve asked, his eyes and voice laced with worry. Bucky sat up to look at her.

Y/N grimaced. “Yeah. Nothing to worry about,” she said quietly.

“You sure?” Bucky asked, not completely convinced.

“I don’t want you to think it’s your fault.”

That got Bucky and Steve’s attention. They both opened their mouths to ask but Y/N just cut in to answer, predicting what their question was.

“I have a headache . . . from the yelling.”

Bucky and Steve’s expressions were both mixes of concern and regret, and they shared a look her head, mouthing a silent conversation. Bucky stood up from the couch, making Y/N frown, but Steve wrapped both arms around her and lifted her on the couch, and now Y/N knew what she was doing. She was tired and in pain, so she allowed them to take care of her. Y/N wrapped her arms around Steve’s neck, resting her head on his shoulder as he carried her to their bedroom and Bucky went to the bathroom to grab some Advil for her.

Steve laid her on her bed, pulled the covers over her, and laid down beside her, leaning against pillows he had propped up so he could message Y/N’s temples, which felt like heaven to her. A couple moments passed before Bucky entered the room, carrying a glass of water and Advil. Y/N murmured a thank you and took the Advil, washing it down with water. Bucky gently took the glass from her and put it on their beside table and also got into the bed.

The three cuddled and rested and it wasn’t that long until Y/N realized that her headache had faded.

For her hypothetical sprites I think she like gave a lot of her same mannerisms to clonco and ponco but more exaggerated?? So like happy spinning, tilting her head side to side and crossing her arms while thinking (with a side of fiddling with her earring which she gave to thena), overdramatic head-back crying, etc. Also I think blackquill got some of his sprites from her so I'm gonna say she also did the fuckin chin hold confident thing but less smug, she leaned against shit a lot and preferred having her back to ppl which is where he got those sprites, and she taught him his iujitsu :) like her sprites would have her own flair to them, but in canon she is very much a character made up of the impact she has on other characters and I want her sprites to reflect that

Regarding clonco and ponco, I think theres a lot to be said about the fact that she actively wanted to make a robot feel and think for itself, despite the fact that aura clearly dislikes the idea of robots having free will (tho that could be a later mindset thing), and also for the fact that she SUCEEDED in reducing emotions to code. I think shes deeply interested in the patterns of emotion and also autistic that's why. Theres also something to say abt the fact that beinf able to express emotion is clearly so important to her that she would work to give it to robots, but how she never communicated properly with athena or the blackquills... aurametis is hypocrite4hypocrite

Also unpopular opinion but I do trust aura when she says aurametis was unrequited djhsjdjsks as I say metis is Bad at communicating, and while aura was definitely head over heels, metis was like cool :) I'm gonna study you like a bug. In a better world, they could have gotten to understand each other more, and metis is aro so it wouldnt be a flat-out romance, but their relationship would have settled into something intimate that both of them were comfortable with, most likely resulting in both of them growing - aura acknowledging her emotion-driven attitude and working on it, Metis working on communicating literally Anything like come on queen <\3

What elseeeee uhh jsyk when I say 'space centre fsmily' I mean the entire fuckin space centre except for terran (bcos ye've gotten too big for your boots and he has more fics than the entire rest of GYAXA combined so I exclude him out of spite), yuri cosmos n starbuck were also part of that n I think metis had like. why taka’s ultimate isn’t useless

spoiler warning for trigger happy havoc and taka’s free time events!

HIHI SORRY FOR THE LONG INTRO SKIP TO THE SECOND PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ IT ,, ok lol so i only make an original post like maybe once a year AT BEST so here we go,, anyway, i’ve seen a lot of posts on tiktok, instagram, etc. saying that taka’s ultimate makes the least sense or that it’s a “useless” ultimate. maybe it’s because he’s my favorite DR character overall (which may be surprising if you don’t know me considering how barren my blog is of taka content), but after thinking about it a lot, i personally disagree with that and here’s why. (side note: i know the original translation of his ultimate is shsl public morals committee member, this is an analysis of his ultimate overall, not just the way the english dub titles it, so it can be applied to any translation :) )

most criticisms i’ve seen surrounding his ultimate is that it’s not a real ultimate or that it doesn’t have any practical use. a moral compass one’s means of distinguishing right from wrong and to follow the morally “right” path. taka is the ultimate moral compass, meaning he quite literally acts as a moral compass, guiding his peers. on the surface level, we see this through him scolding the other students for having dyed hair (leon), heavy makeup (mukuro presenting as junko), or for students sharing a room (aoi and sakura). sure, at first glance, this may seem like a silly or pointless ultimate, but if you talk to taka during free time, it quickly becomes apparent that it’s so much more than monitoring halls and scolding his classmates for acting like teenagers.

let’s talk about why taka behaves the way he does and why his ultimate is, in my opinion, perfect for his character. we can trace this back to his grandfather, a disgraced prime minister of japan and a “genius.” his grandfather abandoned his morals as one of the most influential people in the world, effectively shaming the ishimaru name and sending the family into enormous debt that would haunt them even after the former prime ministers’ death. through the way taka explains it and how upset he gets when a well-meaning makoto calls him a genius, unwittingly implying that taka and his grandfather are similar, it becomes abundantly clear that his grandfather’s scandal tears him up inside every day. he’s ashamed to be related to such a morally questionable individual and wants nothing more than to repair his family’s reputation, to step out of the enormous shadow his grandfather cast.

taka’s way of doing this is for everything about him to be inherently “good,” so that the ishimaru name is no longer associated with scandals and disgrace. this is why he sacrifices any sort of self-indulgence (only wearing his uniform, staying away from popular media, etc.), to remain as seemingly “good” and unquestionably “morally upright” as possible. being a model student and leading the public morals committee are the most immediately accessible ways for him to begin repairing his family’s reputation, alongside guiding his classmates (whether they asked for it or not). this isn’t meant to be a commentary or judgment of the way he interacts with others, but he’s definitely not critical of others just for the sake of it. he genuinely wants to make the world a better place due to his trauma and his own ambitions, which i’m about to delve into next.

ok so. now that i’ve dumped enough info that hopefully explains his personality and motivations, i’m going to talk about why i believe his ultimate is useful and deserves to be recognized as a legitimate ultimate by the fandom. the most obvious cases are when he takes on a self-appointed leadership role at the beginning of the killing game. if i remember correctly (i haven’t played thh in a hot minute), it was taka who had the idea of the morning breakfast meetings, and he was also the first to suggest that everyone announce their secrets at the beginning of chapter 2 to undermine monokuma’s motive. the latter example was unsuccessful given the events that proceeded, but it was him using his ultimate and position as a leader to the best of his ability.

i understand that this next part is debatable as to whether or not it applies to his ultimate since it’s his untapped potential more than anything, but i personally believe it’s a central part of it so,, here we go! i feel like it’s pretty much agreed that despite being “super high school level,” an ultimate shouldn’t be a skill that someone can just drop after graduation. it should be able to be applied to the real world and society as a whole, hence why they’re at hope’s peak academy. it may seem like taka’s ultimate doesn’t hold up in the real world, since he’s the president of a high school club, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. taka already plans to use his ultimate after graduation to become prime minister and establish a meritocracy.

taka has a vision of a society where it’s an equal playing field for everyone so that individuals can build their lives through their own effort, so the history pertaining to his grandfather can’t repeat itself. (this part is meant to analyze taka’s ambitions and the reasoning behind them, not meritocracies as a whole!) he has been so badly burned by immorality and the concept of geniuses (side note. his disdain for geniuses and ambition to create a society without them reminds me SO MUCH of edelgard’s ambitions from fire emblem. anyway sorry abt that) that he has chosen to take it upon himself to one day reinvent society. he wants to use his experiences and sense of justice, or moral compass, to better the lives of other people. if he has proven to effectively use his ultimate within whatever situation he’s in and has a dream pertaining to his ultimate that will take him far beyond his high school years, then i don’t think it’s fair to call it “impractical” or “useless.”

taka’s ultimate title may not have the same immediate wow-factor as the ultimate programmer or ultimate pop sensation, but it’s not meant to, taka regards himself to be an average man ! he acts as a guide for those around him and truly wants to make the world a better place. all of these examples can be traced back to his ultimate, which in my opinion, is SUCH an interesting concept and has too much potential to be called useless.

Biggest and best tasting power boost there is, really! And then maybe he takes over the empty shell of a body afterwards which may or may not grant him force acess and alcor has a grand old time making a mess out of running the republic (or at least running lose in the senate) This is like... early prequals or pre-preauals era maybe. When palpafucker is still undercover and being all covert and unsuspicious and stuff I call this.... "palpatines penechance for grand speeches and unspecific ominous statements to try and seem all powerful and cool and dramatic fuck him over" Or in shorter terms ... . "There's a demon lose in the senate" And it basically runs like that one john mullaney bit With a side dashing of that one journak 3 thing where bill posesses a guy, messes with a roman army and then makes a guys head explode Also like nobody knows who alcor is or that hes even there bc theres no demons or dream demons in star wars (that i know of) so he gets the run of the place Even moreso than back home in gravity falls bc no one knows magic, its all "force this" and "force that" Dippered probably spends a lot of time nerding out over the different alien species since they dont have those back in his dimension (theyve got aliens but theyre different kinds) and also about the laser swords (just like the one Grunkle Ford made for them all (Ford, Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Soos, Grenda, Candy, Grendas boyfriend, Pacifica, and even waddles and gompers) back in 2017! Also the blantant lying and lack of trying on alcors part is a little insulting to them as a whole ("does he think we'll really fall for that") and is slightly concerning to them ("who the heck is this, someone is inpersonating the chancellor of the ENTIRE REPUBLIC-" Which is, admittedly, a little concern worthy) but if the council is honest (or some of the council anyway) with themselves its pretty much the darn best entertainmnt theyve had in a good long while, headaches aside, sot ehyll focus more on the okd palpatines dissapernace and dealings than the new "palpatine" so long as he doesnt start doing anything ACTIVELY damaging to the republic. A little mischief doesnt technically count as harm- and hey theys preffer to find the og chancellor b4 upsetting and potnetially causing the new one to do smth drastic by attsmpting to out him (not that alcor would, its so much funnier to deny everything to their faces while blatantly lying but they dont know that. So caution (and stress) it is)

You are asking a super good question, I was itching to talk about this actually, but didnt want to add three more pages to my previous answer hahaha.

I actually have a little story for you! I usually write for myself and my partner only, I havent really worked up the courage to publish anything so far, but I really wanted to share this one with you and so I posted it on ao3 :D link is right HERE. It is pretty sad, though, so I completely understand if you do not feel like reading, but if you want more context, it is there :)

Mia had a family of her own, her partners being Diabo, a Hrothgar merchant, and Mikh, a miqo'te rascal. I used to joke with my partner about their house basically just being a giant cat nest hahaha. Eventually, Arnaud Durendaire joins in, which is a ghost of an Ishgardian dragoon. Yes, it is pretty silly, but I always loved ghosts and have a tendency to make characters of various levels of cryptid energy and obviously had to continue said tradition in FF as well xD.

Diabo basically takes him for his own and so does the rest of the family, so he is practically their son. Arnie had a shit family to begin with, the only thing his parents cared for was his success to further the family prestige, and he himself knew nothing besides training and study, before dying too young at the claws of Dravanians. In a way, Arnie got a second chance at a somewhat normal life and family and friends that really love and care about him.

From NPCS, all Scions are like an extended family to Mia, closest relationship she had was with Yda and Papalymo, because they met each other first, as well as Minfilia. Y'Shtola was basically a sister to her, until they had a falling out during Shadowbringers, because Mia thought Shtola became too ruthless and didnt agree with how she talked to Ryne especially. They made up eventually, but the strain in the relationship was still there.

G'Raha is another sibling in all but name, their relationship being extremely close.

The twins are practically her kids. They have their own rooms in their house as well. But then again, the twins are every WOL's almost kids or siblings, arent they hahaha.

Zenos is a special case. Mia always felt drawn to him, despite being unable to figure out why. She wanted to understand him, help him, in a way. It was only after he killed himself that she realized the reason was because he and she were the same in a way, two sides of the same coin. All that power, yet Zenos had noone who tempered him. Noone who cared or tried to understand. Mia was fortunate to have so many loved ones around her, that helped guide her. In a way, she saw herself in him, saw a version of herself that never got to be loved. Only after he died did she realize how awfully alone she truly was, deep down. Because noone, no matter how much they tried, could fully understand the burden and inherent loneliness of her position, noone but him, or so she thought, at least.

When Cain comes to the scene, her original family is... well things are complicated, as one would expect. Diabo shut down, not really wanting to even look at Cain because it just reminds him of everything. Mikh takes it better, eventually finding her way back to him, because, in her words, "Cain smells like Mia did."

Scions take it... well, that depends, I guess. Thancred was one of the most suspicious ones, but after realizing it was true, he warmed up to Cain a lot. In a way, he went trough similiar stuff with Ryne and Minfilia, therefore it was easier for him to relate than the rest. Thancred also has the most guilt of not protecting Mia, of failing her. Urianger saw Thancred trust Cain and so he does too, slowly.

Shtola is the hardest to come around, despite being able to see that unmistakable hue of ember in Cain's soul.

Raha tries his damndest to be supportive, but it is extremely hard for him, because after EVERYTHING they went trough, after EVERYTHING he did, he still lost her again.

The twins take it hard, because it's like losing family, but they try their best to be supportive. Alphinaud does, especially.

It is in Garlemald that Cain meets a new character, an escaped Garlean test subject, a female Viera. She has no name, only thing she was called was Project Raziel, so after Cain asks her about it, he inquires if she would want a name and offers that he could think of one for her, because she herself doesnt really care.

He settles on Carrion, the name just coming to his lips. Carrie for short. Carrie is basically Zenos in a viera body, which is hilarious, in a way, because of his already extremely weird relationship with the man. (Having to fight him again with Mia's memories and feelings and feeling the same way about him, despite wanting to punch him in the face so bad).

So, in a way, the only person who gives him hugs is Mikh, for now at least, and we love her for it.

This is Mia before and after Shadowbringers. Her eye got injured in the Shinryu fight, and it completely lost color in SHB, along with her hair. She grew her hair back after she got rid of the light, slowly, but her eye stayed white.

OK but how are people actually productive and able to finish writing fics? Like how? I have this fic that I wrote and uploaded only one chapter and whenever Im abt to sleep it haunts me and I feel bad for not updating. But my brain is a mess and I just keep consuming fics without finishing what I started. I know where I'm going with the fic but I'm too lazy to put it down onto words. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I'm grateful for it. I have good ideas but I'm too lazy to start 😔😔

Ugh, I don’t have the SAME experience, but I do this A LOT with asks I get... I have tabs open for references for asks from MONTHS ago and every day I feel worse and worse about it the longer I don’t answer them. So yeah. I really want to, but sometimes the motivation nor energy exists to do it, and let me tell you Nonny, THAT’S OKAY and NOT WORTH BEATING YOURSELF UP OVER. Honestly Nonny, no one who genuinely cares about the author over the story will be upset at how long you’re taking on a story. I’ve seen fics finish their story like 4 or 5 years later. People still love them, and people still respect the author.

THAT ALL SAID, @jbaillier has a TONNE of writing advice over here on their Ao3, so you can check that out for some tips about pretty much everything.

My personal advice to how I get back on task:

Be in the right mindset, and don’t force yourself to do it if you just mentally CAN’T. You’ll just end up resenting writing the piece in the first place; writing is supposed to be fun, not a chore.

Eat and take breaks. I am TERRIBLE for this, but I find I think better if I step away for a short bit, have a nibble, and come back with a happy tummy and relaxed eyes.

Change scenery. It sounds silly, but sometimes just relocating to a different room or your patio or even a coffee shop will help you “get a fresh perspective”. I’ve seen a lot of authors post about how “here I am in xx and my creative juices are flowing!” so there must be some truth to that! <3

Put on light background noise. I don’t know if this will work for everyone, but for me I like having video game music, or trance music, or even the hum of my fans running, because if it’s too quiet, all I hear is the buzz of my own brain and it bugs me. Sometimes even a movie or YouTube vid will help you get some ideas or creativity (this one is more for the artists; my day job (graphic designer) I listen to youtube and movies and youtube podcasts during the day to help keep me focussed).

Read or research something for your fic or just to switch your brain to something else. Take notes on stuff you’re researching; at least that part for your fanfic is done at the end of it all!

Write a couple paragraphs here and there and put them together later. When I used to write fanfics a lot more prominently, I did this all the time. I actually used to write hard copies on lined paper with notebooks – still have them! – and I ALWAYS wrote out the parts I knew I had ideas for, and from there, I would piece them together when I wrote the digital versions of the fics. It’s sort of like brainstorming, but not. So yeah, honestly? Get yourself one of those spiral subject books they always sell at the beginning of school years, and hand write your stories. This actually is related to the “change scenery” point, in a way, but instead you’re changing media. You’d be amazed what doing just that can do! <3

So that’s all my own sort of stuff, and I know everyone does things differently, so what works for me might not work for you <3

Kenma stared at his screen, wondering what he should say. His mind wandered, thinking about the fact that (Y/N) was somewhere out there, in the comforts of her own home, sitting and playing the same game he was playing. He thought about how she was probably sitting cross-legged, or slouched, or her back completely straight as she probably wore headphones over her ears, or earbuds tucked in the confines of her ears, or blasted the game soundtrack through the speakers of her computer. Kenma sighed, as he slouched back in his chair. A blush crept over his face. He was talking to his crush over a video game. It was practically like texting her. Kenma began to type once more.

No, no, no! What was he doing? He couldn’t possibly tell his crush about his crush! Why? Why would he do that?! He immediately typed in a “never mind.” Despite some protests from the other person, the two pretended to forget that ever happened.

All throughout the weekend, Kenma sulked and sulked. There was no particular reason, but he just felt so uncomfortable knowing that he told his crush that he had a crush on someone. There was also the factor that (Y/N) didn’t seem quite interested in what he had to say about his predicament, unlike past times where he could talk about anything he wanted and she would gladly contribute all she had to offer to help the poor boy out.

And so the terrible weekend had ended. It was a nice break for Kenma, being away from everything and everyone; he immersed himself in the virtual world as he let go of all of his worries. But now he had to face reality once more - he had to face (Y/N), the terrible final boss. He had so many more enemies he had to defeat (his teammates, according to Kenma), but the powerful weapon of ignoring them always beat them in the end.

He wanted to stay in his bad mood for the entire school day. It was his plan, and it was a really good plan, but (Y/N) just had to ruin it.

Kenma sat at his desk in his classroom that morning they returned from the weekend. He stared at the nothingness that lay before him on his desk until he heard the sweet sound of (Y/N)’s voice when she came through the door to the classroom. He heard her laugh as she greeted those around her a good morning. He relished in the music as she walked towards her desk.

“Good morning, Kenma-kun!” (Y/N) chirped, as she sat down. Kenma jumped at the sudden words, and he felt warmth everywhere, especially in his cheeks. He smiled at the sound of her greeting, and said one back. God, no one could make him feel the way she makes him feel when he’s around her. He took a deep breath, knowing that his unrequited love consumed his whole heart. Ah, if he were only as smooth as Kuroo was and knew his way with words.

Kenma frowned; from a mile away, one could tell he was clearly in a bad mood. He hung his head down low, as he was reminded of (Y/N)’s date last weekend.

“Kenma-kun, are you okay? Is there something wrong?” (Y/N) asked, her voice laced with concern. Her eyes studied his face, discontentment written all over it. She wondered what she should do; if only she could consult applepi in this situation. The setter faced (Y/N) and he smiled.

“Ah, it’s nothing, (Y/N)-san, please don’t worry,” he murmured, hoping that she would get the feeling that he would like to be left alone.

And so for the rest of the time they sat next to each other during class, (Y/N) thought about everything that applepi had advised her to do with every problem that she had:

(Y/N) looked down at her notes to see that she had written nothing compared to all the complicated words written on the blackboard. She had been staring at the blackboard daydreaming about how she had fallen in love with her internet best friend. (Y/N) thought it was silly, really; it was stupid how she had fallen in love over text on a screen. But those words, all of those words that some guy out there named “applepi” had accompanied her throughout her best and her worst times. She could stay up all night to see them up as well, fighting away enemies to clear the level. From in-game items to wise words of advice, (Y/N) owed so much to this person.

And Kenma had no idea that his crush liked him back.

(Y/N) was a very friendly person; everybody in the volleyball club could see that. It seemed to Kenma, of course, that (Y/N) was the friendliest with Kuroo Tetsuro, the captain. All throughout practice they would constantly make jokes with each other, teasing and pushing each other around. It hurt Kenma; it really did. But (Y/N) did not know that.

In fact, after that dreaded date over the weekend, (Y/N) and Kuroo promised to each other that they would not go out on a second date. They realized that they were better off as friends, for Kuroo could sense in (Y/N)’s eyes and her words that she had the ability to break Kenma out of his shell, even further than Hinata had done. She also told off Kuroo, telling him that she couldn’t date someone who had such weird bed-head hair, much to his disdain. He couldn’t get rid of it! And besides… she already had someone in her heart.

But the point of the matter is: Kenma was taking this completely the wrong way. He watched with jealous eyes as Kuroo and (Y/N) shared playful banter. Her beautiful laugh rang in Kenma’s ears for all the wrong reasons.

As they practiced serving, Kuroo used this as an opportunity to try out his jump serves. He was consistent, but the one time he hit it into the net, (Y/N), who was watching for stray balls, called out to him, teased him to no end. The other teammates laughed on, especially Haiba Lev, whose serves were just as bad. Kenma mentally cursed at Kuroo, for stealing away (Y/N). He could never possibly curse at him for real; everyone would be in shock at his sudden outburst and ask him what was wrong. (Y/N) would ask him what was wrong. And if that happened… he would freeze up and definitely lose another life.

When they began practicing receiving, Taketora called out to Yaku to try out Karasuno’s libero’s “Rolling Thunder,” or whatever it was called, to which Kuroo made a sarcastic remark that Yaku could never pull off something as flashy as that. (Y/N) laughed, despite not knowing what the “Rolling Thunder” move was. Once again, Kenma mentally told off Kuroo to stop saying funny things that (Y/N) could laugh at. His jokes were the ones that made (Y/N) laugh; he knows this because she laughed at all the jokes he made over their chat in their video game.

During their water break, Kuroo and (Y/N) played a little chasing game as she playfully refused to hand him his water bottle. She tossed his bottle to Taketora, who then threw it to Fukunaga, handing it over to Yaku. Kuroo chased the libero around, who passed it on to Inuoka. He gave a hearty laugh as he tossed it to Lev. Silly, clumsy Lev called out to Kenma as the tall boy threw it to Kenma, who with his slow reaction did not catch it in time. The lid of the bottle flew open, and water poured out everywhere. Everyone else watched in shock, but the initial shock passed by them as they all began laughing.

Kenma thought they were all laughing at him.

The same ordeals continued even after the water break, and after a millennia later, the practice ended. Kenma, along with everyone else, helped clean up after practice. They also cleaned up the little water spill, which (Y/N) thanked Kenma for helping clean up.

Kenma changed his clothes in the club room. He was the only one inside, as Kuroo and (Y/N) were outside waiting for him. He could hear their laughter through the doors. Then they suddenly went silent. Kenma groaned, knowing that they were probably making out or something, as he buttoned his uniform back up.

He opened the door, and to his surprise, Kuroo and (Y/N) were actually not exploring each others’ mouths with their tongues. Instead, he opened the door to see a smirking Kuroo and a very, very flustered (Y/N). She gasped slightly when she caught sight of Kenma and she turned her flustered face away from his prying eyes. Poor Kenma thought that he had accidentally caught them making out and they pulled away right as he opened the door.

And so he walked away, leaving them in the dust.
