okeyyy...i know this acc is preddy much good and dead, rest in peace all my dearly beloved tgcfmdzs mutuals and followers who moved on to smth else in the yrs since mdzs ended, ....but i still have a big enough active audience methinks soooo i wanted 2 promote a korean novel thats REEALLY unappreciated in the eng community ITS SO GOOD its my favourite novel atm and i really want it to catch on w western audiences bcuz i swear it has the potential to be as big as mxtxs novels were if given the opportunity to blow up...

RETURN OF THE MOUNT HUA SECT (aka, officially, RETURN OF THE BLOSSOMING BLADE) is an action, fantasy, comedy korean novel by BIGA on Naver, with a webcomic by STUDIO LICO on Webtoon

THE WEBCOMIC IS CURRENTLY ON BREAK AFTER THE COMPLETION OF ITS FIRST “SEASON” (will be returning sometime mid 2023) AND THE NOVEL IS STILL ON GOING WITH 1494 CHAPTERS (as of 4/15/2023)....if uve read tgcf in its entirety pls dont let that chp count scare you..rotmhs is a very bingeable novel... while rotmhs doesnt have an official english translation, the ongoing fan tl has 379 chapters translated (as of 4/15/2023) [LINKS PROVIDED BELOW]

MY SYNOPSIS: the story follows the main protagonist chung myung, a member of the mount hua sect who was formerly known as the legendary ‘plum blossom sword saint’, reincarnates into the body of a beggar child a hundred years into the future after dying following the beheading of the demonic cult leader, chun ma, who slaughtered his clan members as well as countless other sects during the war. when he wakes, he discovers that his once proud and respected sect has fallen into ruin during the century following its defeat. chung myung, hiding his identity as a fabled hero from the past, rejoins the mount hua sect under the guise of being nothing but a beggar to help restore the mount hua sect to its former greatness while making friends as well as enemies along the way..

the official (webtoon) synopsis:

When Cheongmyeong of the Mount Hua Sect awakens a hundred years in the future, his last memories are of a bloody battle against the Leader of the Demonic Cult, the evil Cheonma. The battle almost saw the end of the Ten Great Sects of ancient China, when Cheongmyeong ended the hard-fought struggle by striking down Cheonma. Soon after, he succumbed to his wounds, filled with regret at their pyrrhic victory. All is not lost, however, as he awakens to his second chance at life. while the official synopsis does make it seem like the story is going to be heavy and action focused, the novel itself is more comedic than its led on to be and its action scenes are rlly fun and exhilarating to read..

the main cast are extremely likeable and their relationship w each other is very funny and heartwarming... that being said i feel like if uve come from any of the popular danmei novels and r interested in reading rotmhs (PLEASE BE INTERESTED) i feel like i shuld mention that THERE IS NO ROMANCE IN THIS NOVEL... its not a BL, theres no romantic connotations between any of the main characters, this novel is more focused on found family and the bonds between friends than anything BUT PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET THE LACK OF ROMANCE DISSUADE YOU..

this is definitely a crackship, that's for sure. starting out with the most positive opinion i have, dirk and jake are obviously pretty canon and very fun together (the volcano kiss screen has been my wallpaper ever since i read that part in HS, so i'm obliged to like it.) then, erifef, which... while i'm not the biggest fan paleways, or pitchways, the way i could see it working out the most is flushed i guess? but still a no from me. then dirk x feferi, which... is a gay man and a woman the way i see it, so a polite no.

eridan and dirk... eridan is too striderphobic for that. eridan and jake, british person x british person... could be fun! jake and feferi, could be cool as friends but i don't see them anything as other than that. overall this is a 2/10 ship lmao, sorry

Dirkjake - Flushed - My highest rank here too, I have a soft spot for it due to it beung my first ever homestuck ship HAJEHSJHE. Solid 8/10, They need soooo much therapy

Erifef - Flushed - I'm not a fan of Erifef, just full stop. I think I've said stuff about them before I just don't remember the exacts of what I said? They're sibling pilled in my brain. 2/10.

Dirkfef - Flushed - Okay but this could be funny with a transmasc Feferi I think. :D vs B| type beat. 6/10

Eridirk - Flushed - I've seen this before, not the worst Eridan ship out there but also I think if Cannon Eridan and Dirk interacted Eridan would hiss like a cat when they see a cucumber????? Prince moments. 5/10

Erijake - Flushed - Funny. I know they technically interact because of Erisolsprite but also. Missed comedic potential of having them interact I think. Their aspects are going to war tho. 6/10

If the lipstick matches (maybe don't wear it): Y/N thinking that Juyeon would be really that stupid to not recognise them is just too funny! Of course, I loved the setup of the situation in the first place, and all those lab moments were so precious <3 (Also loved the teasing of Hyunjae - and yes, I say this from the version of me that didn't even know who Hyunjae was when I read the fic for the very first time!)

The regular dilemma: sometimes I just think about the part where Juyeon 'inspects' the uh ... latte art ... 😂 The humour in this one is top-tier, personally! Also Juyeon's persistence in actually coming despite Y/N giving him the wrong number is just too cute~ Omg just realized that this also features the rest of Bermuda line slkjdfklsdjflksj hahahahahaha

Bad at being bad: yeah I know it's a Hyunjae fic but in my defence! I didn't really know who he was until way after I read this fic HAHAHA (and look where we are now 🤡). Also the opening lines take on a whole new meaning nowadays HAHA! I really liked the 'duality' of Hyunjae in this fic, and also how every single time Y/N heard about his 'bad boy' persona, they had actually in fact been there when the incident happened (and he was definitely NOT a bad boy lol).

Offend: I love the teasing in this hehehe from both Sunwoo and Hyunjae! I know this was more like a drabble but I think it has a great amount of potential! (I also looooovveeeeee enemies-to-lovers tropes lskjdflksdjfls)

Take a hint: I loved the rollercoaster of emotions that this took me on as a (semi-frustrated) reader - like the miscommunication trope! The best friends to lovers trope!

(sldkfjskldjfl I already tried to stop myself from naming all the fics of yours that I've read and describing what I liked most Hyunjae in each of them HAHA)

Hm I think common thing that I like about your fics is definitely - comedy! Seems like the ones I really like all have quite memorable comedic relief moments! Perhaps because they make the fics seem a bit more realistic? Like not everything goes well / perfectly, and there are always awkward moments in life hehe - I guess these moments also make the characters a bit more relatable too. I also know you said that you've realized you use a lot of dialogue in your fics hahaha but! I personally really like them, and I think a lot of your iconic fic lines are from dialogues! (Also I love college!aus a lot HAHAHAHA)

Hm also in general, I really like it when you describe their confessions / kisses - they seem very romantic, and you take your time to describe them, which I really like (gives me lots of butterflies!). The way you describe them like they hold the whole world in their hands or something ... you know, it's just so poetic! ❤️

~The Wolf in Hero’s Clothing~

“Oi, pipsqueak!”

A group of boys cornered you at the bottom of one of Night Raven’s many staircases as you backed up against the iron railing as much as you could. Your first thought was to run back upstairs to Professor Trein’s classroom for sanctuary but realized that a couple of them had already blocked your way to exit through there. So much for trying to catch up on your studies, you guessed. With not much to do, your mind started to wander to get yourself away from the stress, wondering one question to yourself.

How did it come to this?

Well, the answer simplifies in the fact that you were not supposed to attend Night Raven College at all. Not that you really could as someone who could not control any magic. And yet Headmaster Crowley saw potential in you - that you held a special knack for teamwork with your newfound companion, Grim. But even so, there was nothing outgoing about you.

Back in your world, you were never the best at socializing with others. You always kept to yourself, and would often do double the amount of work in school just to keep up with your classes. No one really saw the need to talk to you either, so for the most part, you were just left alone. Whether or not this was bad or not, you really couldn’t tell, but nonetheless grew anxious the more you felt like you had to talk to people other than your family.

So when you suddenly woke up in the middle of the night inside of a coffin, your heart sank as you feared for your life whilst being chased by your now furry familiar. When all was set and done, though, not much had changed in how you interacted with others. Yes, you had Ace Trapolla and Deuce Spade from Heartslabyul, but you still had your moments where you felt too intimidated to approach them. Combining them with Grim’s arrogant persona, and you often found yourself reclusing back to your own dorm to escape the chaos.

Of course, it was never going to be that easy while residing in this academy. Being the sole female student in this school, you often got stares by some of the other boys in the hallways. It was almost comedic, if not a little weird at seeing their expressions, almost as if they had never seen a woman in their entire life. Some of them tried to even approach you - there was that the dorm leader of Scarabia mustered up some small talk on the spot, but his vice leader was able to pull him off to his next class before he got too close to your liking. It wasn’t uncomfortable, just a little awkward for you. In fact, most of whoever you did interact with was on a neutral footing. Either that or they just ignored you, simple as that.

However... that did not stop a certain group of classmates from making you feel repulsed.

These guys didn’t do so much as stare at you as they did stare you down. No matter where you went, you could feel piercing eyes stare at you like a predator stares at its prey. You could see from the bands on their arms that a lot of them came from Savanaclaw - the dorm built on their students’ pride. You posed no threat to them, but they still looked down upon you like a helpless little herbivore. You realized pretty quickly that they were itching for your reaction, desperate to watch you cower underneath them.

So what was your solution? Evasion and hiding. Yes, you realized that this probably wasn’t the best plan, but it was one that worked best for you. For a while, you sought to run away from them as urgently as possible. You rushed between hallways to avoid social interaction and get to your classes quicker. You sat as close to the dining hall’s door to rush through your meal and hide in your next classroom. You sometimes took the long way back to your dorm by learning about the school’s layout and planning your route from there. And sometimes, you even hid in the library when you suspected something amiss, then awaited until nightfall for you to return to your room unscathed.

These habits soon controlled your life to an unhealthy degree. Sometimes, your familiar Grim would try to pry answers from you when you got back home, but you just shrugged it off and moved on with the conversation. After all... what could you do? Your existence in this world rendered as much as a fly avoiding the next frog or venus flytrap it flew across.

Unfortunately for you, the day you decided to stay after class for an extra study session was the exact same day one of those predators found you.

“Hey, Herbivore!” Another one of the students from Savanaclaw yelled at you, snapping out of your daze. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? How does it feel knowing that someone weak like you has managed to survive this long?”

Your voice gets caught up in your throat, forcing you to only gulp as your heart beats faster, pounding in your eardrums. You could feel your palms start to sweat as your hand grew clammy on the stair railing. Was this it, you wondered? Was this the fear that they wanted to get from you? Either way, it was working.

“Hey, we’re talking to you!”

You yelped as another one gripped the back of your blazer and dragged you from the stair railing to the floor. All of them laughed as they watched you trip over your feet and fall to your knees, your petrified eyes gazing up at them as if it’s the last thing they’ll be able to see.

“Please...” You muttered under your breath.

“Huh? Please what?” Another guy chimed in, smirking. “Don’t think that timid act of yours is gonna save you, herbivore. C’mon, why not entertain us for a moment? Fight back, use your words...” He chuckled, his words of ‘encouragement’ leaning more on cynicism. Every word he spoke left a tinge of bile in your mouth as your felt ashamed for letting these guys get under your skin so easily.

Of course, you said nothing - you couldn’t say anything. Your heart was beating at the speed of light, your voice hitching up an octave to the point of inaudibility the more you whimpered, your tear ducts on the verge of explosion from the sheer fear you were feeling. None of it could’ve helped you as you saw the same boy’s condescending smile turn into a demeaning scowl like he was disappointed you didn’t snap back at him - that you didn’t entertain him.

“Tch... worthless!”

As soon as he said that, he rose his fist in the air only to swing back down at you. You shut your eyes tight and tried your best to cover them with your wrist, but you knew that could only work so well in this predicament. Was this it? Was this going to be your demise? Were you going to the infirmary later with a severe concussion as you barely recalled the same boys that accosted you, rooting each other on with cheers of encouragement?

And yet... you didn’t feel anything.

You didn’t hear anything beyond your heartbeat.

The same voices seemed to deafen in a matter of seconds. You keep your eyes shut, confused. Did you lose consciousness already?

No. You could still hear your heartbeat. You could still feel your palms layered with a sheen of sweat. And for a moment in time, you could feel a single teardrop escape from the corner of your eye and fall down your cheek.

You slowly opened your eyes, wondering what in the world happened. Suddenly, all the boys surrounding you were all on the floor, either groaning in excruciating pain or knocked out cold. Your gaze wandered from boy to boy, letting out a sigh of relief that you were ok for now.

“Hey.”

You jerked your head around to the source of the voice behind you, your heart starting to beat faster again. Behind you was another guy, larger than any of the upperclassmen that harassed you before. His skin was a light tan that contrasted with his piercing golden eyes and white hair. What stood him out from the rest were his wolf-like ears that perched on the top of his head, the hair fusing from an ivory white to a dark grey at the tips. Behind him, he had a tail of similar characteristics that sprouted out of the back of his uniform.

The boy held his arm out for you to grab and get you back onto your feet. However, you froze in fear upon closer inspection at the band on his sleeve, only to scurry away from him the more he reached out to you.

He took a step back, confused as to why you flinched away from him. However, upon seeing the fear on your face, he took a deep breath as if he figured it out, averting your gaze to contemplate what to do next. Finally, he took another step back before kneeling to your eye level, relaxing his posture before asking in the most gentle voice he could muster.

“... Are you alright? Don’t worry, I don’t wanna hurt you.”

Editing this bc I didn’t like how I was phrasing it and anon made me realize how unclear I was being lol. I think Tenko is a rly cool character but I just rly didn’t like her backstory for her personality. I thought it was kinda far fetched, (the reason for hating men at least) and then to kinda get rid of it all in the love suite was the nail on the head for me. I was also rly annoyed w how they kiiiiinda tempted the idea of Himiko and Tenko but never actually did anything w it

Like objectively her character is fun and probably used to lighten the mood and I can’t blame the writers for it. Her character is fun and cool and I’m definitely taking it too seriously. But also... h

give tenko mahiru’s backstory and i would be fine w her character. her character would make sense and i wouldnt be annoyed w her. but her whole character was hating men for a reason that was like... ???? and even that was inconsistent and mostly used for comedic moments. during her free time events she constantly flips between being chill to shuichi and wanting to beat his ass so... it was either hating men or drooling over Himiko and it just felt like her character was just thrown in as a “whatever it works”. her character had a lot of potential but in the end she was just tossed aside so like eh. i like her dynamic w himiko tho and those soft moments she has are really nice

kaede absolutely shouldve lived and shuichi shouldve been the one who died. is this a hot take? to shuichi stans, yes, and theres a lot of them, so yes. (Assuming that one of them has to die) having kaede as a character wouldve been such a better plot, better character, better everything imo. Not to hate on Shuichi but I just think Kaede would’ve been a nice change. but nahh lets keep the casual sexism and kill her off bc man better (im looking at YOU, weirdly consistent skirt on every single girl character except aoi).

i feel like she couldve been a real cool main character BUT only if they expanded on her personality more. i definitely wouldve gotten annoyed by the way too consistent optimism. i think her, kaito, and maki wouldve been a reaaally cool dynamic to see.

i really like the idea of swapping main characters but ehhh... it wouldve made much more impact if shuichi was the one who you played as and died as imo. I thought it was rly clever how they pulled off her killing tho (even if it failed)

Hey everyone, I know isolation is difficult, and a good majority of the fandom use fics as an escape mechanism, so hopefully some people can get a kick out of some of these. As my blog title suggests, I mostly just consume prinxiety content, so this list is for any prinxiety stans out there. Feel free to add on with your own fics or recs, regardless of ship! All fics are completed unless stated otherwise, to avoid giving anyone WIPlash. :)

First up, literally anything by the Queen of Prinxiety (and stunning writing in general) @coconut-cluster. Hers was one of the first blogs who’s writing I got really invested in, and her writing is like the equivalent of snuggling into a warm blanket in the sunshine. It’s good stuff y’all. Writing masterlist If you’re overwhelmed by how many incredible stories she’s written though, I gotchu fam, here are some of my favourites to get you started: Sciamachy, My dreams made music in the night, Snowball fight

Powerless by @impatentpending . One of the best stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, better than most published literature I daresay. Seriously it’s just,,, so good!!! If you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend you do. You’ve got morally grey villains, you’ve got wit, you’ve got a hoverbike named Brendon Urie. It’s an all round good time, except when, you know, it’s angsty.

The To Love And Be Loved series by @virgilsjourney It’s so soft!!! So light and sweet and comforting!!! You’ve got hurt/comfort (heavy on the comfort) with a large helping of mutual pining, and it’s the perfect fic if you need a pick-me-up after a long day.

Butterflies by @creativenostalgiastuff . I live for techie Virgil and this fic does not disappoint. Incredibly cute, Roman gets the validation he deserves, 10/10.

My true love gave to me by @lovelylogans Honestly my favourite oneshot of all time, I giggle the whole way through when reading this. The sheer magnitude of their mutual pining,,, incredible. Genuinely this fic is so wonderful and funny and lighthearted and sweet and hhhhhhhhhh. Looking at her masterlist I’ve also come to realise that she’s written a lot of my favourites, so I’ll just link that here! :)

Wet blanket , Life of the party and Social grace by @tulipscomeinallsortsofcolors. A tad angsty, but so worth the read, and they more than make up for any potential hurt with the gratuitous fluff. Hella soft, superb writing. On another note, if you haven’t already, you should absolutely read their jaw-droppingly amazing series Love and other fairytales. Romantic lamp and a heck tonne of cool worldbuilding, gripping plot and fae galore, prepare to become thoroughly invested.

A dragon’s tail by @theeternalspace . This one had me on the edge of my seat you guys, it’s so gripping you’ll wanna stay up all night reading it. You’ve got prince!Virgil, you’ve got knight!Roman, you’ve got Dragon!Logan. Need I say more?

The most adorable Parents!Prinxiety headcanons you ever did read, by the incredible @thelowlysatsuma , with a tooth-rottingly sweet fic to go with it by @watchoutforthefanfics . You WILL get cavities and you WILL sob at the soft domesticity of it all.

@shakesqueer-writes is lowkey a Prinxiety GOD so I’m just gonna link you to their whole entire masterlist of masterpieces.

The phenomenal It’s only logical by @tinysidestrashcaptain . This one is incomplete, but it’s honestly so perfectly written that it’s going on here anyway. I can only dream of achieving Virgil’s level of sass in this fic, an absolute icon. It’s a flower shop au AND a coffee shop au babyyy.

I can only assume from the remarkable quality of the writing that Keep him safe by @whatwashernameagain gets recommended a lot, as it RIGHTLY DESERVES. This fic is also incomplete, but so worth waiting for, each new chapter is a sucker punch of emotions and the character development is second to none. I’d definitely heed the trigger warnings on this one though, it does handle (very well and realistically) some darker themes. There’s also a raccoon named Cat and I love her.

A get-together and getting together by @hickory-dickory-doc-k Fake! dating! Fake! Dating! Fake! Dating! Fak- Ok but for real though guys this one is so gosh darn cute I dropped everything on Christmas day to rush upstairs and read it when the last chapter came out and I was grinning so much lemme tell you. I’ve read a lot of fake dating aus in my time and this one honestly takes the cake.

(I’d never) want once from the cherry tree written by @ace-corvid with gorgeous art to go with it by @blank-ace . YouTuber au!!! Virgil gets to be the chaotic conspiracy guy we know he secretly longs to be, and Roman gets the adoring fanbase he deserves. The humour is also on point. I mean, Deceit’s name in Virgil’s contacts is Snake fursona man, and honestly if that doesn’t sell it, I don’t know what will.

Of trying and towers by @parsnipit . An oldie but a classic, this story is phenomenal. It’s got action! It’s got magical curses! It’s got so many dragons! It’s got highkey terrified but also kinda badass Virgil! It’s so good you guys, the plot and the family bonding and hhhhhhh dragons are so cool.

Destined by @rosesisupposes . Oooooh this one has such a fun premise. Virgil’s a sage (kind of like a seer) and is just kinda vibing with the humans until sh*t goes down, ft sass, flirting, pun-based bakeries, and a coffee machine named Gilda. It’s great. I love it.

Queen of fluff @not-so-innocent-bi-sander has so much adorable fics that I’m gonna link their whole masterlist because you deserve to treat yourself to their writing, and I’m also gonna add some quick links to my faves here because I love them: The reunion, Romance in the air…port, Guitar lessons. The first fic of theirs I read is the series The view from here, and it was so heartwarmingly sweet that it helped distract me from some pretty bad cramps, so I highly recommend you go check that out if you need a cute pick me up. It’s incomplete, but it’s mostly fluff and ongoing, so you won’t be left on any cliffhangers.

Thespian by @random-snippets is a heart-wrenchingly sweet hurt/comfort fic that I wholeheartedly recommend. Roman puts on a play in the imagination but neglects to tell Virgil that his character straight up dies at the end, and Virgil is understandably distraught. It’s ok though, Virgil gets love and hugs! Also just check out their masterlist because their writing is absolutely sensational, especially their pining!Virgil LAMP fics.

i dont think that yall have noticed how quiet denki is.

like sure, he’s loud - he screams a lot and hes can get really emotional - but thats not always, i wouldnt say its even ‘usually’. most of times hes really quiet.

in most situations where his reaction is shown (excluding the ones for comedic effect) he either has a resting bitch face or he doesnt show as much emotions as other members of cast shown. after kamino nightmare when aizawa called eiji, momo, tenya, shouto and deku, there are shown class’s reactions he’s showing the least of emotions (he also doesnt seem surprised like the rest but ‘oh fuck they did it, here goes more trauma for them’)

he very rarely talks back even though we know he can - his roast of bakugou on their way to usj was a perfect example of this. i believe that he says lots of things he doesnt believe in to see how others react (i honestly got the biggest vibe of him doing so when he was talking about uraraka’s loss against bakugou and not animated yet after his joint training battle, while talking to aizawa)

and when hes loud - hes only loud when he has someone to accompany. most of times hes greatly emotional (as in happy, laughing or scared) is for comedic or heart-lightening purpose. when he’s scared its either school-related or when his friends may be/are in danger. and he shows lots of emotions mostly when hes called out among others.

overall he shows most of his emotions when his friends are close to him (math class, usj, provisional license exam, christmas party, convincing jirou to take part in school festival).

hes also really nice to literally everyone whos not directly rude/hurtful to him (read: monoma). (like, too nice for his own sake). when jirou made fun of him (’jamming whey’ situation) he fucking complemented her. i dont really think he was that clueless to not notice the insult (he knows better and we know that) but he went out of his way to act like she made a reference to one of his favorite topics (special interests maybe). hes literally even friends with the grape fuck. i dont think denki genuinely likes him, like lets be honest. it looks more like denki hangs out with him because no one else does. he truly goes out of his way to be kind to people like wtf where does he store energy to do so

and when he’s the most badass? when his friends are in danger but they safe enough for him to not hold back.

we dont know almost any of his private opinions. the closest we got was his opinion on stain, him explaining bakugou and kirishima and what he told shinsou after joint training. he also seems to be the one keeping others emotions and attitude in check ('i know [a fact] but please keep yourself in check'). he sees and knows way more than he lets on. he remembers. he can easily put pieces of the puzzle together.

i raise questions - exactly how much does denki hold back? how much he keeps quiet? and how much he exaggerates?

people let idiots get away with more shit. they expect less. maybe he just acts so dramatically to not feel so pressured? or maybe there's an entirely different reason that's been hidden from us.

in conclusion - horikoshi stop sleeping on denki we know he has great potential you know he has great potential at least give him a bit of a fucking backstory pls-

Top 10 Scenes in TDP Season 1 (pt. 1/3)

*not ordered in which is better or worse, but it will be in chronological order*

Also some things are worded weirdly. I have a pain in the ass time trying to get my thoughts across in words so... I thank you for your patience :))

1) The scene where Callum, Ezran, and Rayla find the dragon prince. Ep. 2

I think this is one of the more pivotal moments in the show. I mean it is literally the scene that sets the story in motion after all! Two human princes, an elf assassin, and the lost dragon prince (who was thought to be dead/gone/egg destroyed(?)).. this is just IT.

*also i’m aware that Ez probably found the egg first cos he already knew about this secret area but still

2) Viren (attempts to) proposes the idea to trade his life in for Harrow. Ep. 3

Now there are other well thought and well written posts on this scene with Viren and Harrow, so I won't waste your time with all the gushy stuff. I find this scene important because it shows the lengths that Viren would go for his friend. Whether he's doing out of the goodness of his heart or some other selfish reason... maybe both(?)..

!WARNING! MINI VIREN POST ALERT EVEN THO I SAID I WOULDN'T GET INTO IT

In the book Moon, it dives deeper into the plot along with expressing the characters' thoughts and feelings. As for Viren, it's stated in the book that he wanted to:

"offer his life for Harrow's, but he wanted him to understand that this was more than just a sacrifice of a subject to his king. This was personal"

"... he would need to be straightforward. He wanted to say simply I love you and I will die for you" (Ehasz 80).

I have no doubts that Viren didn't not love Harrow or anything of the sorts, but at the same time it feels like there was another motive. Maybe there was, who knows.

All we know about Viren is that he's a father of two (Claudia & Soren), divorced/ separated from his wife, and he's a dark mage. Of course there's some more (like he's taller than Harrow according to the character line up)... also his staff... like if you look at it, it's the same one as the mage who faced Sol Regem all those centuries (?) ago. Maybe he's related to him, or possibly descended from one of the followers. I'd imagine that teaching dark magic may be a thing within his family and ancestors... he taught Claudia dark magic. That doesn't prove anything but it's a small thought.

ANYWAY-- this scene is one of many scenes that show Viren in a vulnerable state. The book gives a look into how he felt when he decided to sacrifice himself and everything. It's just interesting and I'm here for it.

3) Amaya and her weapons grade baguette Ep. 4

On a less serious and more fun note, the fact that Amaya is a breakfast connoisseur is just perfect. Amazing. Fantabulous.

"As a breakfast connoisseur, she was offended that Ezran would neglect a hearty morning meal" (Ehasz 120).

I only emboldened and italicized "offended" because in the show YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE HER FACE WHEN EZ TELLS HER.

Bruh she was so offended lmaooo

It's right at 13:36 time in the show... the slow zoom in and all 😂

4) Amaya and Gren meeting Viren at the statue Ep. 5

I’m trying to see if I should have paired this with the first scene where Amaya arrives first. That scene is pretty calm but has a somber feeling. It introduces the relationship of Amaya and Sarai without having to directly say it.

But this scene here is... interesting. Not in a good way or bad way, but we see they’re reminiscing of the past. At some point, they all got along nicely. Callum even noted in his spellbook that Viren’s family became like a second family to him when he moved to the castle.

This interaction was cute tho. It started out positive (sort of) with them joking about Viren eating the last jelly tart which pissed Sarai off lol. But then Viren went on to apologize to Amaya and reassured her that what he does is out of the goodness of his heart and love for Katolis. But...

“Aaaaand, he’s back, Amaya thought” (Ehasz 150).

And then went on to sign that he’s on a bunch of bs. See? Even Amaya knows he’s full of shit lol. But really tho... it makes me wonder how much of bs Viren goes on even before the events of the current story line.

5) Rayla saves Bait from the sea monster Ep. 5

Let us give a round of applause for Rayla going against her fear of water to save Bait, the grumpy frog who hates her. I think this just goes to show how compassionate Rayla really is. This would include the time when she goes back to grab bait back in the banther lodge in episode 4.

6) Viren giving his kids their *secret* missions Ep. 6

Okay this isn’t just one scene. I cheated yeah yeah whatever >:3

When Viren is telling Soren what he must do when he finds the princes, at first he doesn’t fully get it, but then.. OH n0

Viren’s intentions are starting to unfold and come together as one. Like, this man just told his own SON that should he find the princes, he should kill them. This 18 yr old bby

And Viren didn’t say it aloud, but he heavily implied it. Only to then gaslight him later on when Claudia confronts him in prison.

As for Claudia, Viren tells her that she must retrieve the egg. And do everything in her power to bring it back, even if it means that she’ll have to sacrifice Soren... her own damn brother ;-;

7) When Callum finally lets Rayla hold the egg Ep. 6

This scene is pretty big. Rayla knows that Harrow is long gone and is trying to find a way to tell them. Obviously she doesn’t choose the best time to try it.

They were in a dire situation that could potentially kill them (even tho they had plenty of those moments already). The reason why this scene is so big is because it shows her struggle to break the bad news (ever since the right binding fell) as she continues to grow closer to them. Here you can see Callum passing the egg to her, despite her hand being in the terrible state that it is in. It is also the scene where right before passing it, he finally tells Rayla that he trusts her.

8) Human Rayla!! Ep. 7

Human Rayla is so corny but it’s the good kind of corny. One of the best comedic jokes in the series!

That is all cos human Rayla needs an AU of being a nighttime tv host or smthg

9) Viren and Runaan Ep. 8

yo this is alot okay. The scenes with these two introduced some Moonshadow philosophy and such (ie. not being scared of death). Runaan being the stoic and serious assassin that he is. And Viren not having any of this shit.

There are three major things here:

Runaan knows about the mirror and is most likely aware of who Aaravos is. He literally says, “That mirror? You have found something worse than death.” Goddamn...

And then Viren just... trapped his soul.. his essence into a goddamn coin. Just like that? wow. And hold it, almost admiring it in front of Gren.

Also this is the first time we officially see Viren in that form. In the beginning of episode 5 we are given a darkened silhouette of Viren and the butterflies. But here we see the damage resulted from years of having done dark magic, and it’s horrifying. He is the high mage and all but goddamn. I mean with every action there are consequences so-

10) Callum destroying the primal stone Ep. 9

I feel like this is one of the “of course it’s this one!” scenes but it really is! Callum realizes that only a sky dragon can be hatched in the eye of storm and there he is with a literal storm in his hand. By now, Callum has come to understanding what feels right and that being a mage is his destiny. But he also understands that he needs to sacrifice some things for new beginnings. This whole journey was to get the lost dragon prince home and restore balance and peace and with the egg starting to die... well you can’t really do that without the egg.

It’s at 18:50 where he realizes all of this. It’s one of the big boy moments in the show. Seriously, it’s a big moment and the suspension helped get the feels in. And we got a cute baby dragon!!

End, begin. it’s all the same. (pls someone get that reference ;-;;;)

Some honorable mentions:

- Episode 7: Claudia and Soren interacting. I love their sibling bond; it’s so silly and sweet and I love it. It makes me wish I had an older brother of some sort.

Ellis and Ava,, I like the flashback story given when they meet the dragang. I just like it, okay? Smol chiald w/ smol wolf pup and a hippie Lujaane seeing the beauty & strength in Ava.

CGI Coran. That all I have to say about that guy lmao

- Episode 8: When the group is going up the cursed caldera and they encounter that giant leech. Like can we just appreciate Callum’s funny way of making out a plan? Fat respect for that.

Another is when the group split up and waited for the leech to leave. The conversation between Ellis and Callum were sweet as was the one between Rayla and Ez. I loved Ellis’s admiration for Callum being a mage. And her expectations of what a mage was is pretty hilarious. So wholesome. The same goes for Ez when he gave Rayla that daily fill of positivity.

Like... Ellis is telling Callum how smart and confident and cool he is. And meanwhile Callum is like... it’s not me, it’s this. *whips out primal stone* And she goes on to tell him that she believe he’ll be amazing with or without the stone.

And Rayla is telling Ez how she failed in her job of killing the enemy. And Ez is telling her how she’s awesome at everything she does.

this is the positive wholesome shit I come for like... this is parallels but GODDAMNIT it’s so.. ;;;;-;;

hello everyone!!! i’m cas, i’m so excited to be here and write with you all! for the RECORD, this is my first ever golden-trio rp, and therefore my first everrrrr time writing dear seamus, so this is gonna be a fun journey!!!!! pls bear with me while i figure him out <3 (also, i guarantee u i’m gonna forget about the irish accent constantly while i write, so pls use ur imaginations djgkdjgfksdg)

i’ll set y’all up with the classic: “me dad’s a muggle, mam’s a witch. bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out.”

so yup, he’s a half-blood! from good ol’ kenmare, ireland, where his father lived most his life - he met seamus’ mother in america on a business trip, and they quickly fell in love. she moved to ireland to live with him, and the rest, as they say, is history.

she did forget to mention she was a witch until long after they were married and seamus was born, when he first started showing signs of magic by accidentally turning the cat pink, crying, and turning half the carpet the same ugly shade of pink - in that order.

seamus was is hm.... how 2 say this simply..... a chaotic child. finally turning 11 and getting his hogwarts letter was a big sigh of relief for his parents, who loved him very much but were very excited to finally have some peace and quiet in the household!!!

seamus was equally as excited - the muggle school he was enrolled in was boring, and while he had a decent amount of friends from taking up the title of “class clown,” this paired with the occasional bout of accidental magic got him into a decent amount of trouble.

some of his favorite things about his time at hogwarts, in no particular order: DADA classes, hogsmeade trips, dean thomas, quidditch games, the rest of his friends, gryffindor parties, great hall feasts.

some of his least favorite things about his time at hogwarts, in no particular order: realizing that he wasn’t that special because now everybody else could do magic too (and many of them were better than him at it), potions classes, quidditch tryouts, most slytherins (he’s a biased lad, what can he say).

when shit got real, to put it lightly, seamus didn’t want to believe any of it. he was kind of a brat at first (i say as if he still isn’t a big brat constantly), refusing to believe that you-know-who was back and that war was at their doorstep. he argued with his classmates about it constantly, until finally the truth was undeniable and he allowed himself to be dragged (see: he asked if he could come) to the dumbledore’s army meetings.

and then seventh year, his mom almost didn’t allow him to return to hogwarts because of how bad everything had gotten. she reminded him that he was still just a half blood, and even if things were okay for them at the time, there was no guarantee it would stay that way.

seamus did a lot of growing up that year (better late than never), fully investing in dumbledore’s army and helping the younger students deal with everything going on, all of it culminating with the battle of hogwarts

the battle of hogwarts was chaotic, hard to place any specific thing - a cacophony of flashing lights and shouting and people falling around him. he remembers three things: 1) blowing up the bridge (while the battle itself could obviously not be described as anything close to fun..... come on, that was pretty great), 2) learning his corporeal patronus was a fox (nice), and 3) watching a curse come at him straight from you-know-who’s wand, only to be blocked by harry potter.

after all of that, well, it was just a matter of picking up the pieces, wasn’t it? he helped fix up hogwarts where he could, spent some time at home with his parents, and sorted things out. he didn’t ever really give himself time to think about the events of his last year at hogwarts, because he didn’t want to think about it. he still doesn’t ever really talk about it; we love repression, babey!

after a bit of time at home he decided to move to a very cheap apartment in london bc he wanted to experience the Big City:tm:, where he quickly got a job as a quidditch commentator with [insert generic news station here, cas is tired] which he absolutely fell in love with. he gets to travel to quidditch games all over europe - and the globe during world cup season - and he’s quick to tell people he’s famous in the sports world (hardly true, but some people recognizing his name has gone to his head). in the quidditch off-season (and during some messy overlap), he’s a muggle sports commentator, mostly sticking to tennis.

he’s a bit of a mess but he’s got a heart of gold, sometimes he just needs a lil shoving in the right direction. he loves his friends & his family more than life itSELF and he’ll do anything (see: anything) for ‘em. unless they do something to piss him off, then they get approx. 1-2 weeks of The Seamus-Free Zone before he drops his grudge and all returns to normal

in the world of sports commentary, he’s quite popular among younger fans because he’s extremely biased in quite a comedic way, and he’s gathered quite a decent following for being “that funny sports reporter” (which is, yes, his full instagram bio). he’s always put on for a bit of lighthearted fun, it’s rare that he does any extremely serious commentating, but that’s the way he likes it.

his favorite local team is the Kenmare Kestrals and he’ll never say a bad word about them during games, no matter how bad they play, and during world cup season he obviously always supports ireland. if they don’t make it to the final he nonstop makes quips along the lines of “ireland could’ve done that play better, but we’ll let it slide”

has a french bulldog named gregory, gregory also has an instagram account and has more followers than seamus, don’t bring it up

hosts "small get togethers” (see: parties) in his apartment quite often, thank U silencing charms

good god he’s so very clumsy and is constantly hurting himself (and accidentally setting things ablaze, he doesn’t know how it still happens but it ALWAYS HAPPENS) pls help him

from the beginning , it was never jo’s dream to be famous. while most girls were at home playing with toys, jo was getting prepped for auditions by her parents. they had ambitions ———— to get filthy stinkin’ rich off the back of their daughter, and for the most part, it worked.

jo landed a major role in a disney show ( think like hannah montanna or wizards of waverly place, that kinda cultural impact ), and quickly, she became one of america’s sweethearts. that was a lot for one kid to handle, with all the filming, press, etc. her parents, of course, ate up the attention and capitalized off it fairly quickly. brand deals, interviews, anything you could find a child star on at that time. it pretty quickly became overwhelming, but she was definitely raking in the dough. that meant she was to continue, no matter how tired of it she was.

which is where her perfectionism comes in to play, she had a lot of people relying on her ———— her parents, who she loved regardless of the stress they put her through, director, costars, company, etc. jo was definitely a natural when it came to acting. she knew how deliver line after line, emote, and successfully pull off a comedic moment. on screen, she played a charismatic, social butterfly, which was the exact opposite of who she really was, a quiet, nervous girl who valued her privacy and just wanted to live a normal life.

which began to take it’s toll on her. the older the she became, the less she liked being seen as the sweet girl next door, so she completely had a breaking out of that mold phase ( ala like miley cyrus or britney spears ) around the time her disney show came to an end. much to her parents dismay, she became known more for her off-screen antics than her onscreen one & definitely kept the paparazzi’s pockets fat. “jo vasquez spotted (fill in the blank with something controversial)” filled the pages of magazines for a lot of her 17-18 years, and she went from america’s sweetheart to probably one of america’s most hated lol. it had a negative impact on her career as well, which she was happy about for awhile. that is, until she realized that most of the money she made as a child was collected by her parents & not her.

with no money coming in & the relationship with her parents souring, she left home & avoided the spotlight for around three years. probably lost contact with a lot of people then too. she thought a nice, quiet time by herself & without paparazzi following her 24/7 would be healthy.

& it was. jo used the last bit of her childhood savings to fund her time away, but with money tight , she was a bit unsure of what was left to do. that’s where her great aunt came in. her great aunt had gotten rich of her stocks in a successful makeup line when she was in her late 30′s ( something that joanna’s parents were super jealous of ). with that kind of money, she was able to move to the hills and purchase a beautiful home. joanna had met her only once or twice, but there was definite tension between her parents and her aunt. the only thing she really knew about her was that she was wealthy and lived alone, no kids or significant other.

unexpectedly, her great aunt passed away, news that didn’t reach jo until she got a letter from her aunt’s lawyer, saying that since her great aunt didn’t have kids & didn’t want to leave her belongings to her niece ( jo’s mother ), she had left everything to jo. it completely caught her off guard, and she considers herself pretty lucky.

she knew that she couldn’t stay in the hills forever without some income, and because she feels like acting is what she’s best at, she decided to contact her old manager, and together, they came up with a plan to revive her career.

sooooo , now she’s back in los angeles. media has def heard of her return ( apart of her manager’s plan ) & there’s been a small amount of buzz around it. she’s more of a former a-list, so she’s really not that in demand. however, she did manage to land a supporting role in a major blockbuster ( something like a marvel movie probs ) so she’s hoping that’ll change fairly soon.

* PERSONALITY .

probably fake lol. let’s just be honest. kinda hates the celebrity lifestyle & is cautious when it comes to other people in the industry so yeah, she’s the type to smile in your face and then glare when your backs turned. she knows how important connections are in this business & word travels fast so she’s probably not “real” except with the people she’s closest to. also the type to be like “OMG ofc i know what that is. 😍 it’s my fave” but then have absolutely no clue what the fuck it is lmaoo a tragedy

she’s a hard worker & def a perfectionist. everything has to be perfect, and she’ll do as much as she can to get it right. it’s probs the reason she stuck with acting b/c the trial and error of learning something new would be way too much for her lol.

but also enjoys time out a lil too much prolly. is a regular to night life & partying ( more under wraps now than back in the day ) & will out drink just about anyone you know. it makes her a bit more brave & she believes ppl bare their souls when they’re inebriated so it’s easier to get to know ppl. what a weirdo. also partakes in her fair share of prolly just weed. no hard drugs tbh she’s not the one

your average gal just looking to have fun , but could def potentially catch feelings that she would deny til she can’t anymore or until it’s too late. 🤪 lowkey wants someone to just sweep her off her feet, but she’s blind to the reality that she always be making things complicated.

behind the facade, she’s a bit stubborn. probably also a side effect of being a perfectionist & also her need for control ( since she lacked that when she was young ) so be prepared for that

unrequited love / crush: these are fun. joanna doesn’t really know how to handle her romantic feelings so it’d probably be her getting the cold shoulder .

hookups / fwb: past, present, future. fwb would probs get messy. maybe she caught feelings or sumn.

former friends: something happened & they’re no longer friends. we can plot it all out . :^)

childhood friends to lovers to exes that ended on bad terms: saw this on a plot masterlist & it sounds fun so i thought i’d put it here lol.

literally anything your heart desires: a lot could work. we could even just start from nowhere & have them meet for the first time b/c jo’s only been back for a couple of months.

i’ll be honest, you were very difficult to place in a house!! i think you’d fit into all three houses quite well, and you’d have good chemistry with many of the students. but your balance between the fun and more responsible sides of your personality strike me as quite black eagles?? you also share traits with quite a few of them, which makes me think you’d fit in quite well. and, as you’ll see as you read on, i think you’d have some delightful friendships with a lot of them, too!!

edelgard: first and foremost, edelgard would admire your diligence. edelgard likes hard-working people, and that sounds a lot like you. she also admires how well you manage people and projects; knowing she can trust you with your duties is a big relief. she may struggle to comprehend your sillier, more mischievous side, finding it to be in direct contrast to how she tends to think of you. she may also contend with your reclusiveness, and reluctantly relies on food to coax you out into the world (that was after finding out that straight demands won’t work). also, i’m pretty sure she’s a cat lover, so she’s quite grateful that you’re so good with them. it makes them easier to charm over and pet.

hubert: you’ve got very different vibes. but, similarly to edelgard, i think he’d appreciate having you around because you’re good at what you do. you’d work well together, and hubert knows what he can trust you to handle. i feel like you two would be unintentionally hilarious; there’s a strong contrast in your personalities that ripe with comedic potential (i say this, believing that the bernadetta-hubert supports are some of the funniest in the game). overall, i think you’d have a good “working relationship”, if that makes sense??

ferdinand: the term ‘choir buddies’ popped into my head when i thought about you two. once he finds out that you have an angelic voice, he is dragging you along to practice no matter what. that being said, i think the two of you would have a surprisingly close friendship. like edelgard, ferdinand admires people who apply themselves, and therefore he’d be impressed by you. at the same time, he just finds you so cute; sweet and silly, while also a dependable ally?? it’s enough to make his heart skip a beat. am i saying he’d have a crush on you?? it’s hard to say, and i think that would depend on how you interacted with him – if it was obvious you weren’t interested, the thought likely wouldn’t cross his mind. at the end of the day, he just finds you to be an immensely likable and respectable person.

bernadetta: i think you two would be best friends!! you get what it’s like to be reclusive, and bernadetta needs someone to take that seriously. at the same time, you might be able to help her feel more comfortable with putting herself out there; with your help and guidance, she just might be able to tackle the outside world. at the same time, i think she’d enjoy being friends with someone who’s sweet, cute and silly; it’s such a difference from what she’s used to. i think she’d also feel quite comfortable in your friendship because of how dependable you are – bernadetta wants to let her guard down around someone, to feel safe and understood. you’re that person!! you can be recluses together, or you can face the world together – and i think that makes for a precious friendship.

dorothea: she would find you adorable!! i feel like dorothea would be drawn to sweet, cute people, and you’re no exception; she just finds that sort of temperament refreshing to be around. she loves your voice, and she’s always trying to get you to join choir or do performances with her (although, in a much calmer way than ferdinand). she also loves your mischievous and silly side; it’s a nice reprieve from the nobles, after all. she also admires how reliable you are, making you someone she feels comfortable coming to for support and help. and, of course, she’s willing to offer the very same to you. dorothea’s a very loyal friend once she knows she loves someone, and you two would be as thick as thieves. overall, dorothea is just deeply fond of you, and you’d be one of her favourite people to spend time with.

petra: i think you two would get along really well!! like you, petra is diligent, reliable and dependable, and you’d probably work quite well together. you’d probably be a bit of a dream-team whenever you were paired up to complete a mission or task. i feel like petra would always be finding ways to draw you out of your seclusion (much like in her paralogue with bernadetta), and always seems to be coming up with new and interesting ways to do so. i get the feeling that petra would enjoy your more mischievous side, too, and is capable of being quite silly herself when the occasion calls for it. also, a little friendship trio of you, petra and dorothea might just be too wholesome to handle.

lindhardt: he might find you a bit baffling, to be quite honest. he only applies himself to things that he’s interested in, so seeing you be diligent and dependable just doesn’t make sense to him. he might “rebel” a bit if you try managing him, but he’s comfortable in the knowledge that he can rely on you to cover his back if he needs you to. he does enjoy seeing someone pull tricks on caspar (i’ll expound on that later), but i do see you more as good friends than close ones.

caspar: i think you two would have a fun contrast!! where you’re reclusive and cute, he’s loud and brusque. but at the same time, you’re both diligent and capable of being silly. i get the feeling you might fun it fun to “trick” caspar every now and then; he’s lovably dense, which just seems like it could be a field-day for someone more mischievous. on top of that, i think caspar’s the sort who’d enjoy a bit of mischief, and your other house members need to be mindful to watch their backs. but on the other hand, you might be able to help him get in order when the time calls for it due to your management skills, and the rest of the black eagles are grateful for that. overall, i think you’d be great friends, and you would have a lot of fun together!!

flayn: you two would have the cutest friendship!! flayn primarily appeals to your sweet, cute, mischievous side; flayn herself is all those things, and it makes your friendship feel quite easy and natural. i can see the two of you having a lot of fun together, and your relationship would be full of laughter. i feel like you can keep up with flayn’s energy and dramatis, and you’d keep each other entertained. seteth’s a bit exhausted by it all, but he’s also deeply appreciative that flayn has such a good friend by her side.

ashe: this’d be quite the wholesome friendship, tbh. like you, ashe is diligent, dependable and sweet. i think you’d find each other very easy to be around, and it’s the sort of friendship where you can really relax. ashe would understand that from time to time, you just need to be a recluse; but he’s always ready to coax you out with a well-cooked meal. i think ashe is another one who’d enjoy your mischievous side; he’s not much of a trouble-maker himself, but that means it’s refreshing for him.

leonie: leonie’s quite different from the other two, but i think you’d have an surprisingly close friendship!! leonie likes the fact that you’re reliable and dependable, and that’s the main thing that draws her to you; you’re on her level in that regard. she’s yet another person who admires your diligence (she’s quite the hard-worker herself, after all), and i can see her seeking you out in moments of strife. she’s much more likely to just,,, drag you out of your room than others, but it’s well-meaning. but other than that small hiccup, i think you and leonie would have a very solid, equal friendship!!

Endgame and this blog

OK SO I’m not gonna give a massive rundown of my thoughts on the movie as a whole (feel free to IM/Discord and chat about it tho!) because honestly we could be here forever the movie’s like 3 hours long. Instead under the cut is a more specific discussion about Thor / my interpretation of him relating to Endgame, what I’ll be doing with him post-Endgame on here and some plot ideas/wishlist things if anyone wants to come do a thing!

Also Imma use bullet points bc they look better.

- Chonky Thor is loved in this household; making his clearly disastrous mental state a cheap joke is not.

- Honestly in terms of arc exploration I dig the concept of his decline because after everything he’s bound to hit breaking point. The way it was handled is what makes me prickly. Infinity War gave us a glimpse of something much more nuanced; Bruce started trying to be sensitive to the situation when they first meet but that’s about it and I wish they’d tried to maintain that sensitivity.

- Also sue me but I refuse to believe that Steven ‘good man with his own baggage’ Rogers; Bruce ‘I got low’ Banner or Tony ‘I completely sympathise with the PTSD’ Stark wouldn’t even have visited New Asgard over the 5-year span??

- My boy needs a shower, a shave and a snuggle. Pls supply.

- LIGHTING! UP! TONY’S! SUIT! YES! Superhero synergy makes me a happy man it was so long overdue.

- HE’S SO PROUD OF STEVE AND SO SOFT FOR HIM PLS LET MY THUNDER LAD LOVE ON ALL STEVES ASAP

- Actually Thor wants to love on all the Avengers stat.

- 2012 Thor jumpstarting Tony by whopping Mjolnir on his chest all the while being all I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS GONNA WORK. Iconic. @Russos this is the sorta inter-team bs we all crave why couldn’t we have had more of this.

- P sure most stuff I’d fix would mean dialogue rewrites and extra screentime for Thor which isn’t all that feasible for the scope of the movie, but knowing the aether’s location in the timeline aside you can take Thor out of EG and he barely influences the narrative whatsoever which is Frustrating.

How this all feeds into canon portrayal on the blog

- I’m gonna keep the framework of events for EG canon to this blog but take a less comedic approach to Thor’s portrayal. That’s really p much it; just running the scenes more sensitively and maybe working in some extra interactions where Thor became too closed off to accept offered help over the 5 years, which began to be worn away once Time Heist was put into action.

- In terms of the ending..I love the GotG but can’t see Thor being content to stay for long without getting itchy. He’s either taking a few months out with them to ‘do something good’* out in the universe before returning to Midgard; looking for Loki or exploring the galaxy for new opportunities.

- That being said give me more Thor development with Peter and less competition. I’d love to see them both talk affectionately about their mothers and really come to understand that they’re both similarly used to disguising insecurities with brashness.

- Thor stays in direct contact with Valkyrie and I will not accept any version of Thor where he would just abandon what remains of his people after all he’s been through. He uses the Bifrost via Stormbreaker to return to Midgard regularly and keep an eye on proceedings, as well as offer Valkyrie advice and support. He hopes war is over but even if he’s given the crown away he’s going to remain Asgard’s protector.

Wishlist-stuff wise this is just like a bunch of ideas/opportunities to kick off ideas for plots. HMU if any of these appeal and we’ll work something out! c:

- The days between the Snap and confronting Thanos.

- Anything immediately post-beheading.

- The construction of New Asgard / inviting team members to the first few nights’ celebrations.

- The 5-year span has a t o n of potential for anything!

- Nightmare/dream scenarios during Thor’s 5 years?? Especially with characters dead/dusted/villains.

- Some wrangled time-travel nonsense

- The final battle! I’m a slut for battle threads so pls feel free

- All the Tony angst

- Post-EG can be anywhere in the galaxy, on Midgard, with the Guardians or other planets!

We Made It. Fairy Tail Finale: Chapter 545

We made it, guys. Through the high blood pressure, grins and tears, we made it. To celebrate, I’ll go back to my old style of reviewing; page by page.

Finale or not, prepare for salt. I’ll try to be as calm as possible.

This is a nice cover, but Levy looks very out of place. She’s not really that important of a character.

Oh cool, Lucy won an award. That’s nice. I honestly kind of forgot that she’s a writer since it’s barely mentioned.

Look at the upper left hand corner of that group shot. Those are all of the characters that despite them frequently appearing, we know almost nothing about. And Lisanna is a catgirl for some reason.

Not much to say here.

I’m so confused by drunk Juvia. Why do you feel the need to strip as well?

Ugh. Anna...can you just...die? There’s literally no reason for you to still be here. Natsu, you remember her? Bruh, why did you never say anything??

Wendy being an idol is...the only change from the timeskip that stuck except for power levels. Also, good for Chelia, now we can say that there were no consequences for the war whatsoever. Great.

With how they’d been mostly ignored during the war, I was not expecting to get news about them. And of course Kagura fanservice because reasons.

Juvia, you are the only girl in this series that I’ve seen wear a bra consistently and appropriately. Just wanted to point it out.

And here we go with the gruvia. I stand corrected. Gray and Juvia have scars. Amazing. And yes Juvia, your body. I’m not sure why you’re questioning that statement?

I’m absolutely confused. What was that moment? What are you trying to say with “maybe it should be mine”? Why are you getting all stuttery and embarrassed NOW? You guys lived together for 6 months. What happened to that “answer” you promised? Apparently it wasn’t much because only you have changed your behavior, Gray. And quite abruptly, I might add. Do you guys see what I mean about gruvia now? This behavior makes no sense because up until this point, Gray and Juvia have had the exact same dynamics no matter what happens. This change should’ve happened sooner and over time.

Obligatory Elfgreen. Haha, all of the main (straight) Laxus crack ships were acknowledged. All of those shippers must be laughing.

Oh look, Erza’s boobs.

I don’t mind Hisui being queen and I think it’s great that she made the effort to establish a diplomatic relationship with another nation. However, the abrupt politics is very odd and has me thinking about the magic council again. What happened to them after Tartaros, anyway? Where have they even been during the war?

Hisui: I also know about your sins. But I’m more concerned about the future than the past.

Translation: Look, compared to Acnologia and Alverez, y’all ain’t done shit so let’s just move on.

Never expected Erza of all people to have trouble reading. But then again, Lucy had a way more privileged upbringing with proper education so...yeah. I can see her being more booksmart.

So she started brushing her hair as a sign that she’s actively waiting for Jellal. Okay, but just...Erza, you’ve waited years for this man at this point. Just go after him yourself.

Why his legs of all things? That’s so random. Genuinely surprised to see Porlyusica at a party. Didn’t think she was the social type.

Yeah, no. This moment is meaningless. That is not Mavis or Zeref and those are not their reincarnations with their souls. Somehow, those two had doppelgangers running around for more than a decade and we’re just now seeing them.

“It’s really hot this August.” Stop. I’m getting flashbacks. He was screwed over beyond belief.

Okay, but why is everyone smiling like this is a perfectly normal and happy thing? I would be flipping out if I saw clones of my guild’s “tactician” and greatest enemy.

Good for you, Romeo. Those old guys are kinda cringe, tbh. No. No no no no. Kinana, no. Stop. You and Erik? No. That ship is the most unnecessary and out of nowhere thing ever. It is built off of anime only filler. If you’ve only read the manga, it makes no sense.

Required reference to the early days of Happy screwing Lucy over in a comedic fashion.

Drunk Lucy=Cringe.

Pages 31-32 Why are you suddenly getting emotional, though? He’s told you that you’ve got a job to go on a billion times at this point. These are some seriously random and out of place flashbacks.

Pages 33-35 Nalu fuel because this is the closest that they’ll ever get to canon.

...The ambigiousness of that “we’ll be together forever” infuriates me with unsatisfaction. I don’t ship nalu, but the lack of any cementing evidence here is killing me.

Oh look, everyone looks the same as the early days. It would bring nostalgia if they’d changed in appearance at all since that point.

A 100 year quest? Cool, but what is it, though?

Really wishing that that question had been answered at some point. Frankly, that question has been completely irrelevant throughout this entire series. We didn’t really need it at all.

HOLY SHIT, IS JUVIA INTERACTING WITH FREED?? SOMEONE WHO’S NOT GRAY?!

The funny thing is that if anyone hadn’t read FT Zero, they’d have no idea how important Zera actually is.

Aaaand, that’s it. We made it. Fairy Tail has come to an end. Well, the first thing that I can tell you is that this finale was not very good. Despite constantly teasing ships to the point of ignoring actual friendships in favor of ship moments, only 2 major ships have been confirmed as together. I think. Unsure if Elfgreen counts as canon, but for now, I’ll just count it as that.

Despite all of my salt and rage and frustration, I will miss this series. I spent a lot of my time and energy into rants about this series and it’ll be strange to not rage at or look up spoilers for a new chapter every week. I really did love this series in the beginning. I think I started watching in 2013. I binge watched the anime then started reading the manga. It was happy reading until I find ForneverWorld’s Youtube. He discussed each chapter and pointed out flaws that I’d never quite realized before. Even so, I got excited over the 2014 adaption then disliked the animation despite all of the hype. I liked the music, though.

Fast forward a bit and one day, I run into @ac-fairytail ‘s blog. Their posts about Juvia stung a little, but it was their other posts about Gruvia that were a slap in the face. THOSE hurt, but it did make me realize the faults in my OTP and at that point I started criticizing FT more as I read it. From there, I found @fairytail-whathesays whose posts turned me into the bitter old lady I am now. I found myself agreeing with a majority of their criticisms and had to acknowledge that Fairy Tail was turning to shit. I refused to stop liking Gray, though. I think I found @the-archangel-of-zeref in between finding those two? Not sure. But I agreed with some of their opinions too.

Right around the time FT started getting edgy, I started looking for fanfics. I found some good ones, mostly Gratsu at first. It was only last year that I realized that almost all of the fanfics I’d read were probably better than FT 2016-2017.

I guess I just wanted to reflect on things. Overall, I regret that this series ended on such a terrible note. I really do wish that it had lived up to its full potential. I think a big part of it is that Mashima didn’t have competition for the most part. Therefore, nothing pushed him to improve/change his storytelling methods and the quality of his work. I also think that if FT hadn’t been ecchi, we could’ve avoided a lot of terrible/unnecessary moments. I do wish Mashima good luck on his next project, however, I hope that he does it right this time. I will read his future work that he was oh-so-excited about. I have a feeling that excitement made him start rushing to end FT so that he could move on already.

Now then, I’m going to start reviewing the following series:

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Boku No Hero Academia

The Upcoming Winter 2018 Shows I’ll Be Watching

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody! What better time than now to talk about the new season’s shows in the annual pre-seasonal post where I describe the shows I’ll be watching/giving a chance from the coming Winter 2018 season! Always a fun time, and fun to look back at and see how wrong/right I was about a show.

A reminder of the usual thing I say in these posts:

I might watch some other shows that are good or drop some shows if they aren’t good, but that’s for the future.

Like always, I’m organizing these shows into three categories: Full Chance are shows I’m giving the whole season towards, Short Leash are shows I’m giving three or so episodes towards, and One Shot are shows I’m giving one episode towards. As we progress towards categories, expect less words for each anime as I lose interest in writing. Also a reminder that MAL links to the shows are on the titles for those interested.

Some words about next season: I know everybody is hyping up Spring 2018 to be THE season for anime (just look at that lineup), but I think the Winter 2018 season has some potential gems. With each passing season I’m getting more and more picky with the shows I keep, let alone give a chance. Even with that, there are 20 anime below, and that doesn’t even include a few I’m sort of interested in but decided to not watch because I already have a lot on my plate. Plus the fact that I’m pretty dang excited for a few of these shows, which might end up backfiring on me in the end because Sturgeon’s Law. Oh well, that’s life.

All right, let’s get this show on the road, starting with...

Full Chance Shows

Dagashi Kashi 2: I legit can’t believe this got a second season. The first season of this show was way back 2 years ago during the first season I started watching seasonal shows, and even then I knew this show wasn’t really that special. Basically the problem with the show was that it was a candy infomercial at its core: the characters and their stories/development were overshadowed by “lol look it’s candy”. The only great thing the show had going for it was the character design, which got nullified for this season since a whole different studio is handling it (Tezuka Productions instead of feel).

But there’s good reason to hope that this installment of the show will be better than the first season. The biggest reason for that is that this time around, Dagashi Kashi is a short anime. Not one of those 3-minute blazers, but a 15-minute half-length short. After hearing that, I had some hope for this show: the first season at times felt like it dragged on with its skits. Hopefully cutting the length will help immensely with that. Plus, there’s a new character which might potentially add more spice to the mix. So you never know, this second season might be pretty good. Or it could be bad. Either way, I have no expectations given how the first season went.

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san: A bit of (unrelated) backstory: I know this only because the anime club I’m in had the manga as one of the readings for the manga social. Otherwise known as Skilled Teaser Takagi-san, the show is basically about a middle schooler named Nishikata who gets teased by Takagi, a girl who sits next to him in class. In revenge Nishikata tries to tease Takagi himself, but it always ends up backfiring, resulting in Nishikata being teased yet again. From the little snippets I’ve seen/heard about, the show should mostly be comedic with the cute moments and max smug. I’ve seen complaints that it’s very repetitive and that there is no romantic progression, but the second point seems kinda null when you realize there’s a spinoff of the original manga, which is about something I won’t mention explicitly here (go look it up if you’re curious). With that in mind, I’m not expecting too much, just some occasional cute and funny moments that may or may not be repetitive.

Mitsuboshi Colors: Uhh... yeah. Now before you call me a lolicon, let me tell you what this show is about. Basically just three kids living their daily lives exploring the town and all that.

...Wow that doesn’t make it better does it. Well, whatever. The show’s looks to be a relaxing slice-of-life, and that’s something I’m about (as long as it has something else to it like comedy). Fun fact: the manga shares the same author as Hitoribocchi no ○○ Seikatsu, a manga I’m reading right now that I’m really enjoying. Just a random fact, but it’s a good sign that the source at least has good roots.

From the comments I read about it, Mitsuboshi Colors looks to be wholesome, with similarities to Ichigo Marshmallow. Also apparently the kids are savage af, which is both realistic (kids that age are too real) and right up my alley. Overall sounds like a good time, and though I’m trying not too expect too much, I’m wouldn’t lie if I said this was a show I’m excited for.

...So yeah. Pls don’t call the FBI. Yet.

Poputepipikku: I have nothing to say about this show. Seriously, go read the MAL description (or lack thereof) and watch the PVs, and tell me you know what this show is about.

The only basis I have is the 4-koma this is based off of, which has translations somewhere in the web as well as video adaptation things here. I guess if you want a sense of what this show is about the videos are the best way to figure that out. Basically what I get is that this show is one huge meme.

So yeah I’m super down for it. Bring it on. Absolutely no clue what it is, but sure. I like memes. The danker the better.

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 2: I’m probably less excited for this show than I should be, I admit. Towards the end of the first season, the show felt a bit stale since they added more and more new characters which made it feel like a “too many cooks” situation where it felt like they were running out of ideas with the old characters. I’m a tad worried about this second season because they’re adding even more new characters, as if we didn’t have enough in the first place. Though if there’s anything to be hopeful about, it’s that they’re keeping the format of 5 shorts a week. Definitely the better format than just a compilation episode at the end of the week.

At the end of the day though, this show made me laugh almost every episode, and that’s a rare thing nowadays (DAE sadbois). So yeah, I’m still pretty excited this got a second season and hopeful that the new characters add more depth to the show. Guess we’ll see.

Violet Evergarden: OOOH. It’s time. It’s time to be hyped, but then tell myself to keep that hype down. Because it’s here, ladies and gents. The one I’ve been waiting for ever since May 27, 2016, the day the CM came out (this one). Now is the animation going to be as good as in the CM? Hell no. But man, I’m not gonna lie: I’m super excited for this one. Like SUPER excited.

There’s a bunch of reasons for that: the biggest reason is the involvement of Kyoto Animation. I admit I’m a KyoAni fanboy: I’ve watched most of their shows and with the exception of Musaigen no Phantom World, I’ve liked all of them (and even Musaigen started getting good towards the end). Of course the animation in Violet Evergarden is going to be high quality (that’s a given), but the story is apparently top-notch as well, something a bit unprecedented with works adapted by KyoAni. Most of the LNs/manga that KyoAni adapt are... a bit lacking. From K-On to Chuunibyou to Free, all of them weren’t the best source material. Though most of them were good enough to win Honorable Mention in KyoAni’s annual light novel competition, none won the Grand Prize. And that was the case for the first few years the competition ran: no Grand Prize winners. Until Violet Evergarden won the Grand Prize. Sure says something about the LN’s story. Combine that with KyoAni’s ability to fit a source material to an anime format well, and you get the biggest hype train since One Punch Man.

But what about the plot itself? That was a mystery to me until now, and after doing some research into the story it looks like it’s about a robot/cyborg who formerly was fighting in the battlefield who now works as a “Auto Memories Doll” who “carries peoples’ thoughts and memories and converts them into words“. Apparently it’s similar to Kino’s Journey only with more drama/interesting characters (so most likely episodic). Which I’m down for since I enjoyed Kino’s Journey (well at least the old one). Also small side note: minimal romance until the end, which is fine since I think a romance subplot would distract from the main storyline.

So yeah, I’m on the hype train. But with this big of a hype train, anything less than a 9/10 would be disappointing. So to prevent that from happening, I’m trying to keep myself in check by thinking about the last time I got onto a hype train, which was Mahoutsukai no Yome. And look how well that turned out... “on hold” (though I may pick it up... 5% chance). AKA anything can happen, and because of that expectations are “low” -- but let’s be honest I’m hyped for this. Let’s go.

Yuru Camp△: Let me get the joke out of the way now: LOL DAE READ AS “YURI CAMP”?????

I’m sorry.

Anyway, if there’s one word to describe this, it’s COMFY. The best way I’ve seen this described is a combination of Non Non Biyori and Yama no Susume. And having seen both shows, I can see the maximum comfy this will provide. The plot is simple: cute girls doing cute camping. Slice-of-life + comfy + CGDCT = good stuff for this guy.

Though doing further research, there were some things that turned me off a bit. One is the following words: yuri undertones/subtext. Those two (three?) words have the potential to ruin the show, though it depends on how strong they are. If we’re talking Hibike Euphonium levels, we’re doomed. If we’re talking Love Live levels, we’re fine. Though I wish CGDCTs nowadays shouldn’t feel like they need yuri undertones, if it’s not too overbearing I can just brush it off.

Another thing that concerns me a bit is the studio handling this: C-Station, which doesn’t have the most inspiring list of shows made. Now they’ve done a few full-length shows, but I’ve never heard of them before, so it’s... unknown how they’ll be able to handle Yuru Camp.

A final, nitpicky thing is past experiences. Watching the PV made me feel comfy, something I didn’t feel since... Flying Witch. Which, while comfy, was also boring. Who knows, maybe Yuru Camp will actually have humor to it so I don’t fall asleep while watching it. But generally comfy = boring for me (with an exception being Non Non Biyori), so it’s something to be wary about for me personallly.

Though negatives aside, this show has great potential and it’s one of the handful of shows I’m excited for. Let’s get comfy.

Short Leash Shows

Citrus: Hoo boy... if I have to be honest, I’ll be super surprised if I end up finishing this show. This is one of the few times where I read the source material beforehand, so I can share my experiences and tell y’all what to expect. And let me tell you... expect this show to be bad. I know it’s being really hyped because it’s yuri, but holy melodrama Batman. Now I admit I’m not the biggest fan of yuri, and I haven’t read much works in the genre. But still... even I know there’s a lot of better works out there with the yuri, most of which haven’t gotten an anime adaptation.

There are two main problems with this show. The first is the characters. Specifically one character, the student council pres/stepsister. Her actions make absolutely no sense, and are the driving force of the questionable moments in the manga. Which brings me to the second problem: the drama, which stems from some of the weirdest problems that shouldn’t even be problems. I’d state an example, but that’s spoilers that I kinda want to avoid. This image sums up the manga well in my opinion (thanks to /r/animemes). Add the fact that the yuri isn’t even that good, and you got a dropped manga, one of the few I dropped (my manga list for reference).

With that in mind, I feel kinda bad for the people really hyped for this show. Then again, most of them are hyped for the yuri, which... I don’t blame them to be honest given the lack of good yuri anime out there. Still... have some standards y’all. Expect this show to be one of the “most disappointing” shows out there.

Darling in the FranXX: Basic facts about this anime: Trigger and A-1 Pictures are collaborating on it and it’s a mecha show. In terms of actual plot, the MAL summary is a pretty good idea of what we should expect. Because otherwise, nobody knows since this is an anime original. Looks interesting enough though, so might as well give it a few episodes and see what’s up.

Gakuen Babysitters: So this looks pretty cute. Basically we got a guy and his brother who gets taken in by a chairman of a school, later becoming the school daycare’s new babysitter. Tragic backstory aside (the guy loses both his parents), the manga is apparently diabetes-level of adorable, which I’m down for. Cute things are cute.

Hakumei to Mikochi: Small girls (9 cm tall) living small lives. That’s basically it. Such a small anime deserves a small description. So I’ll say this: looks to be comfy and laid-back. I’m about that.

Koi wa Ameagari no You ni: And here’s the winner of the “Questionable Plotline of the Season”. We got high school girl who falls in love with her 45-year old manager. AKA the problem I had with Blend S taken to the next level... you would think. But I think if the show does it tastefully, it won’t be too bad. And apparently that’s what it is: a feel good slice-of-life/romance with interesting characters. Plus the fact that it’s not the older guy being all lovey-dovey this time, which helps a lot. This should be an interesting one to keep an eye on, both in terms of the anime itself and the reception towards it.

Random side note: I honestly think it’s kinda sad when the top comments of /r/anime’s thread for the PV of this all talk about Aimer and how they’ll watch the show because of her only. Seriously... that’s some weak reasoning for watching an anime, when only a minute and a half out of 23 minutes is the thing you’re watching for. You don’t see me watching Eromanga-sensei because ClariS did the OP. Just a bit of a personal gripe.

Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san: As you can kinda tell from the title, the show’s about a girl named Koizumi who really likes ramen, and goes to various places to eat their ramen. I have no idea what to expect given there isn’t much info out there about this, but I guess I’ll expect lots of ramen to be eaten. The way this is laid out, I’m hoping it’s a short, because otherwise it’ll drag on for way too long.

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho: Next to the obvious shows like Violet Evergarden, this is the one show I’m seeing /r/anime announce as a dark horse AOTS candidate. But doing further information, I’m kinda confused as to why. It doesn’t really fit the standards of the typical show that /r/anime really loves (Made in Abyss, Houseki no Kuni, etc.) considering it looks like it’s just a CGDCT about girls going to the South Pole. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a dark turn that happens given the setting of Antarctica, nobody really knows given this is another anime original. But hey, I’m not complaining. I like CGDCTs. And this season’s got a bunch of them, like...

Slow Start: This one. Plot doesn’t reveal anything special, just about a girl who started school a year late. That’s it.

Background-wise, though, this show has good potential. Same director as GochiUsa, same magazine as a lot of CGDCT anime, etc. I’m not expecting much from this show, but there are points for it to be good.

Takunomi.: Like Osake something something from this season, we have another show about adults drinking. A 15-minute short, has potential but like the shows above I’m not expecting much.

One Shot Shows

Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku: Holy moly, I had the biggest case of deja vu while watching the PV for this show. Just look at the MC for this show: the most generic MC I’ve seen, so generic it literally looks like the MC for that isekai smartphone show that came out a few seasons ago. Heysus Christos, what is this baloney. Seriously, compare these two: here and here. I’m honestly more impressed than anything.

Anyway, the show looks to be your standard generic isekai. Yay. My favorite.

Märchen Mädchen: It’s kind of an isekai... I don’t know, at this point I’m tired, just read the summary. I like the eyes. That’s all I really have to say about the show.

Ryuuou no Oshigoto!: Yeah the summary says it best. A moe Sangatsu no Lion, though I’m sure the only similarities it has with the show is the theme of shogi.

Sanrio Danshi: One big commercial for Sanrio characters. At least that’s the vibe I’m getting. Also shades of shounen-ai. Eh.
