Best Rayllum Quotes From the Jack de Sena Interview
J: There have been some big external life things that have definitely changed for him. Rayla leaving has taken like a big emotional toll on him.
J: Now, that we have this two year time jump and that Rayla is gone, and like not—like, didn’t explain, like bounced, just left. And I think after everything they went through together in those three seasons, how much, you know, trust was built there, the—you know, the romantic relationship yes, but also just like, they were on these, this big epic quest, they had to put each other’s lives in each other’s hands, right? So there’s so much trust there, to then have her break that and leave without notice, and not trust him to be part of whatever she had to do next, like really hurts Callum. It really crushes him.
J: I think like, that was the thing that I focused on is like, “you left me, that’s really messed up romantically, and also like why couldn’t this—whatever you needed to do, why couldn’t we have navigated that together? Like why couldn’t—why didn’t you trust me to be part of whatever this next phase has to be?”
T: They—he jumped off a mountain for her.
J: Yeah! [Laughs]
T: Like that’s marriage right there. Like that—he’s the one.
J: Yeah.
T: Callum is surrounded by people, but would you say he’s lonely? I am mostly asking based off the short story and—
J: Yeah. [...] Yeah, I mean he’s very isolated without Rayla there, and 100%, he’s throwing himself into the work.
J: [Regarding trauma and growing up] I think that’s part of, just to speak to like, right, season four stuff, that’s part of the I think some of the anger he holds about Rayla leaving is that like, “we went through all this really intense stuff together and that—like, I’m cut off from that, in some ways.”
T: Yeah.
J: This—this person who you shared that with is gone, and—
J: He’s a completionist, he wants to learn everything, he wants to figure out all of this magic stuff, he wants to just discover each of these arcanums and will he, you know, be tempted to keep—to learn a little bit more about dark magic, which we’ve already seen him—
T: Dabble in?
J: Never want to touch again, but can he resist just knowledge for knowledge's sake?
J: He has a clear sense of who he is right now, he thinks, and that will of course be tested and he’ll have to grow, and also like—yeah, since Rayla is gone, he has had to build this new idea of “Who am I alone? Who am I without her?”
T: Who am I without her, without anybody—
J: Yeah.

Rayla: Runaan, he saved my life!
Runaan: That doesn't mean anything! He's human he's probably playing tricks on you.
Rayla: How could someone possibly fake jumping off the storm spire?!
Runaan: Dark magic is a powerful thing, Rayla. You're not associating with that thing. End of discussion.
[Later]
Ethari: Oh look Runaan, it's that Earthblood elf I was talking about! Can we keep him? :D
Runaan: Y-yes, of course darling...

I have a yummy little Viravos breadcrumb for you. A real sweet one.
57 minutes into episode 27 of Hot Brown Morning Potion Podcast and the ship is brought up. The interviewer offhandedly calls Aaravos’s ritual scandalous. “Why is it so scandalous for a thousands of years old semi-deity elf and a perfectly lovely human man to have a cosmic connection,” Aaron Ehasz responds with a hesitant tone, “and for that connection to create a love child with sparkly wings and…yk?” He then went on to say he didn’t really think of it in the dirty way some other people do.
I’m dying
