I have been thinking so much about Jean-Paul Valley in my Reverse!Robins AU. Specifically, how he’d react to Steph’s return.

Because, listen: here is a man who had his autonomy stripped from him. Had his identity stripped from him. By the cult his father secretly raised him to serve, while letting Jean-Paul think he was having a normal childhood (and he did. That is one of the things I like about JPV as a character; in the original “Azrael: Fallen Angel” & “Knightfall” stories, he had a perfectly normal childhood… aside from the hypnotic brainwashing implanted while he slept.) This guy who was tricked into murdering several people, when he never, ever wanted that.

He gets saved by the Bats. And they help him. They really, genuinely help him, and sure, Duke & Damian are still teenagers (JPV’s like… 20-22 at this point in my mind,) but they’re also his anchors to reality. Damian, who also was raised to be a weapon by someone he should’ve been able to trust. Damian, who has experience with cults & rebuilding your identity after losing everything. Damian, who’s basically JPV’s “Brainwashed Cult Assassins Anonymous” sponsor. Duke, who also had a normal childhood. Duke, who knows Gotham like only a kid who was raised in its heart can. Duke, who agrees that this whole situation is certifiably fucked, but never hesitates to help Jean-Paul potentially recover a lost memory or find a new one, because it’s not just about who Jean-Paul was before the cult of St Dumas got their hands on him, it’s about remembering that he’s a living human being right now.

They take him in. They save him. They help him save himself. Bruce offers to pay for him to go back to college, for fuck’s sake!

They gave him his life back.

Jean-Paul can never, ever repay them. They tell him they don’t need it, but he wants to and he can’t. He feels so selfish to take & take without giving back, but how do you pay someone back for all that?

So his couch is always open to them, whenever they want. He’ll be their ally, their friend, their confessor, their confidant, their homework editor if need be. And when newer batkids join, well, Jean-Paul would’ve done his best anyway, but the fact he’s entrusted with Duke & Damian’s apprentices is just. It’s something else. And it’s hardly a hardship—the kids are a delight. Obnoxious, sure, and messy, and pushy, and constantly interrupting, and sometimes they break his stuff, and always they eat all his food, but Jean-Paul has more civilian friends now, and they tell him that’s just what kids are like.

What matters is that he loves them. He loves them because Duke & Damian love them, and then he loves them for being them.

And then. Stephanie. Dies. (Because Jean-Paul is broken, he’s a sinner, he can never make up for what he’s done, what he is, and he can never have nice things. Because Steph was sunshine & rage & stubbornness, because she joked that “We blondes have to stick together!” Because no one was there for her when it mattered most. This has to be punishment, right? He got too close, and Steph paid the price.) (His therapist says he’s being irrational again, but it doesn’t feel irrational. They say they need to adjust his medications. Jean-Paul knows better than to trust himself, but he can trust in Bruce to make sure the therapist is safe, so Jean-Paul doesn’t fight it. He’s not happy, but he doesn’t fight it. Because if he starts hallucinating again, he knows it won’t just be his father hovering over him, demanding to know why Azrael refused to avenge them. So yeah, sure, adjust the meds if you think it’s needed—he doesn’t miss Steph that badly. Yet.)

And then. Steph. Comes. Back.

She’s not dead. She’s not dead, but she’s different, she’s so very, very different. Damian says she fights like she spent time with the LoA, that same cult that raised Damian which he’s told Jean-Paul so much about over the years. Training like that takes time, but it’s been 6yrs, and she’s back, risen & gifted back to them! And she’s killing, but Jean-Paul’s killed before, and he’s been kidnapped by a cult before, and he thinks he knows how this goes. Death Mask isn’t Azrael, but he thinks it’s close enough.

And. And. And. He can save her. Because he knows what to do now, after nearly a decade in recovery. He can make up for his sins, he can bring her home again, and maybe, finally, he’ll have finally managed to pay them all back! He can give Steph her self back to make up for—(“You didn’t kill Stephanie,” his therapist reminds him, “you never laid a finger on her. Remember? You didn’t hurt her. It’s not your fault.” But it feels like it is, it feels like it, he can’t shake the idea that he did)—and he can give the Bats their sister back to make up for all that they’ve given him over all this time! A life for a life, and yes! This feels right!

He cooks up scenarios, imagines Steph reaching out in a moment of lucidity, or showing up injured on his doorstep guided by muscle memory, or running into her on the street or in a cafe and the look of alarm & recognition in her eyes as she—like he did, still does occasionally—knows that she knows him but can’t remember. He imagines the conversations they could have, all the different variations, and knows that it will take time, but patience is a virtue and Jean-Paul’s gotten rather good at it. He can be her anchor.

He just needs to figure out how to start.

(And meanwhile, Steph’s on the other side of Gotham like, “Why are my ears burning, and why do I feel like I’m staring down a tsunami-level wave of second-hand embarrassment right now?”)

12/11/2017: Andrew Morton announces new biography of Meghan. Rebecca English writes about Meghan's yoga influencing. Meghan's "Sexy Santa" costume from Deal or No Deal is republished. Kensington Palace announces William and Kate's trip to Sweden and Norway, and The Times debunks The Crown.

12/12/2017: Harry and his friends kill 15 boars during German hunting trip (Meghan's not happy). Harry and Meghan take credit for William and Kate showing a little PDA on an engagement, while Meghan merches her parka. Later, William and Harry attend the Star Wars premiere.

12/13/2017: Kensingon Palace officially confirms Meghan is spending Christmas with the royals. Meghan is revealed as Google's most-searched celebrity of 2017. Meghan merches her handbags, especially Strathberry's, and modernizes the monarchy.

A UK survey finds that a majority of their respondents are unhappy with Harry's engagement:

67% of women surveyed are devastated by the engagement announcement.

20% of overall respondents prefer Harry to be single.

57% of respondents are against Harry marrying Meghan.

And Meghan leaks that Kate has taken her under her wing to protect her from negative parts of royal life. She tells The Express that "Harry is like a brother to Kate and she has never seen him so happy."

12/14/2017: Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, announces that he expects to preside over the royal wedding. In the morning, the royals attend a service for Grenfell Tower at St. Paul's Cathedral (Meghan isn't allowed) and they gather again in the afternoon for The Queen's annual Windsor Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace (Meghan is invited). In the evening, the Kensington Palace Christmas party is held at a nearby restaurant that Harry and Meghan may or may not have attended (it's claimed they left early) while William and Kate are papped leaving.

Meghan merches Strathberry again and she is named the #4 Fashion Influencer of the Year, besting Kate who comes in at #5. (I really doubt Kate cares about this.)

12/15/2017: Kensington Palace announces the wedding date. Palace gift shops begin selling engagement memorabilia. Harry visits Sandhurst Academy and awards Cadet of the Year. Idris Elba shows support for Meghan while Meghan merches tea tree oil.

12/16/2017: Meghan teases a Canada tour post-wedding again.

12/17/2017:

The Daily Mail reminds us that Meghan is attending royal Christmas.

Harry announces that he has interviewed Barack Obama for BBC Radio 4 Today, but the interview won't air until the end of the month.

Meghan used to work at a yogurt store in LA as a teenager and everyone just loved her.

William's diary clash: Harry scheduled his wedding on the same day as the FA Cup Final, which William usually attends.

To prep The Queen and Prince Philip for spending Christmas with Meghan, Harry says he has shown them clips of Meghan in Suits.

Windsor hotels begin to profit off the wedding by marketing Meghan and Harry.

12/18/2017: The Cambridges release their Christmas card photo and Kensington Palace announces that Charlotte will begin nursery school in the new year. Meghan is voted one of the UK's ideal Christmas dinner guests and she leaks that The Queen likes her better than Kate but Buckingham Palace hits back with a denial.

12/19/2017: William and Kate attend the Royal Variety Performance. Meghan tries to ride their coattails by hinting she and Harry may be their guests and Harry is appointed Captain General Royal Marines, succeeding Philip.

Sketches of potential wedding dresses are published/leaked again.

Doria is papped at a LA laundromat.

Meghan modernizes the monarchy.

Meghan leaks that The Queen wants her and Harry to have a prenup and that she (Meghan) is hurt the family thinks she has an ulterior motive for marrying Harry. (Well...) In the same article, Meghan teases her and Harry's individual net worths and hints at the wedding budget - £22 million minimum overall cost and her dress budget is £375,000.

Harry debunks Meghan's PR about the prenup, saying no one asked for one and that William and Kate don't have one so they don't need one.

12/27/2017: Harry's interview with Barack Obama is finally released. He makes a "we're the family she never had" comment that sets the Markles off. Harry also bans blood diamonds from Meghan's jewelry and Meghan merches her lip gloss.

12/28/2017: Some poor media intern who listened to the Harry/Obama interview realizes that Harry invited the Obamas to the wedding. Meghan deals with more curtsey criticism. She deflects by announcing that she was shortlisted to be the new Bond Girl but she had to give the role up because of her relationship with the Harry. Meghan also merches the Soho House restaurant she and Harry had their first date.

12/29/2017: The royal family's engagement count for the year is released and Harry worked more than William and Kate. The Markles begin popping off about Harry's "we're the family she never had" comment.

12/30/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories.

However, his role/scene is a reference to internet speculation which Taylor has acknowledged that Olivia was a gift from Harry.

Olivia Benson Swift(-Styles?)

Olivia was adopted on 18 June 2014. Harry and Taylor had started dating again after the red backstage haircut, writing Style around Valentine’s Day 2014 and the anatomical heart tattoo. The date is a potential anniversary:

15 June 2011 Taylor had temper trap arm lyrics in St Paul, 1D in America, Harry MIA and on the 17 June she wrote she was blissfully happy in the lover journal.

16 June 2012 Harry got lyrics from the same temper trap song tattooed on that anniversary.

18 June 2014 Taylor adopted Olivia wearing pink. model Steph Smith was there, posted to IG and started following both Harry and Taylor. Harry MIA but seen in Europe the day before and after.

What led to speculation that Olivia was a gift was that Harry can be heard laughing in the first video Taylor posted of Olivia a week later. This TikTok has Harry laughing and this laugh. Harry’s sister Gemma liked this post and later named her own cat Olivia also.

Olivia is a Scottish fold so it’s unlikely she was able to be adopted same day, my guess is the “first roar” where Taylor wears black, Harry laughs and Olivia looks slightly smaller was before she was picked up where Taylor wore pink. That tracks with clothes and how purebred cat adoptions work, famous people probably have options but kittens new all the time “first roar” means first met. This first roar video is still in Taylor’s instagram stories under “Ladies and Benji”

Harry also wrote Olivia the same year and famously said “Is Olivia even a person or is Olivia an emotion” Olivia being something that sounds like “I love ya”, a response to Say don’t go’s “I said I love you and you say nothing back.

Tumblr went with it which Taylor was aware of as keen user of Tumblr then and she has hinted of Harry as Olivia’s dad on the Reputation tabloid, in the End Game video (black/rep cat rather than Olivia) when she sings she doesn’t want to be just another ex-live you don’t wanna see.

And it was seemingly confirmed in the me! When Brendan presents Benji as a gift while Taylor wears a pink dress

(Side note on the Me Video: Brendan wore Harry’s Live on Tour Suits throughout, she called Olivia and Meredith young daughters (in French, Harry was dating Camille) and the paint at the end match’s the unreleased Two Ghosts video)

And finally on his birthday hits from the streets called Harry a cat daddy in 2019, the year Me! Came out. Well he is a Cat daddy in a double meaning, 🍉 and also Olivia’s real father.

In 1547 Archbishop Thomas Cranmer preached a pithy and dramatic sermon at the Coronation of King Edward VI, urging the royal youth to renew the scriptural role of young King Josiah of Judah in his own kingdom. I'm looking ahead to Lent right now, but I'm also thinking about the current season, and how for the longest time I didn't even consider this a season. The season "after Epiphany"—it doesn't even get its own name in my calendar. It seemed a mismatched muddle of feast days and readings, and Jesus ages 30 years in a month. It was nice to have a breather between Christmas and Lent, but that was all.

And yes, this is a green season, "ordinary time." A pastor I follow (can't remember who at the moment) pointed out that most of our years are spent in ordinary time, and most of us pray that this is true for our lives too—we ask for a rhythm of growing but not a grand narrative of historical events and life/death situations. "May you live in uninteresting times," goes the blessing. Perhaps it's because my life has been so full of life and death, but I have a hard time with the in-between growing. I get bored without dramatics.

Nevertheless, this year I'm processing the gift that this little green season is—and it's not boring, not at all! It starts with Epiphany—and what a great name for Three Kings' Day! A eureka moment, a breaking in, a sudden realization! Then Jesus is thirty and we have the Baptism. We read the wedding at Cana at some point; there's the conversion of St. Paul. Then the Presentation—Jesus is again a baby, so some whiplash there.

I know Catholics and many others have Transfiguration in August, but Lutherans have Transfiguration the last Sunday of this season, before Ash Wednesday. This makes sense timeline-wise, but only recently am I putting together a cohesive season for myself.

If Epiphany is a eureka moment, a breaking in, its season is one of miracles. Not the grand ones of Christmas or Easter, to be sure, but Jesus creeps in on us these few weeks. Breaking in but like a thief in the night. He's a child being worshiped by strangers, a boy playing in a childhood mostly skipped over, a man being baptized by his cousin from an apocalyptic desert cult while a bird-God breaks through the clouds, a guy at his friend's wedding negotiating with his mother and pleasing the guests but John calls it a manifestation of glory. And then for my church, the greatest manifestation since his birth, the breaking through of God into his person on a mountain with his best friends. His ancestors appearing in communion with him.

We have breaking in and through, manifestation, miracles, a strange timeline for a strange man. Foreigners, cousins, mother, best friends. So much unwritten and lost to time. And this is a season.

So I'm looking ahead to Lent, but I'm also honoring that we've made a season out of bits and pieces of glory—and bits and pieces are more than we could ever ask for. Before we enter the desert, we alternately bask in and are shocked by the glory around us. "Eureka" is an exclamation meaning "I found it"—in the story, Archimedes is so shocked by what he has found (the volume of irregular objects by seeing himself take up space in his bath) that he runs naked through the streets. In my opinion, this is a completely appropriate response to finding more of the world.

I said I get bored without dramatics, but what's more dramatic than God existing, manifesting, loving? The season "after Epiphany," post-realization. Growing in between life and death. Your whole life after this moment. I'm not saying flash your neighbors, but God is a whole world, breaking in, and you've found it. What are you gonna do about it?

Ru-kun’s Excessive Guitar Collection

Fell down a rabbit hole debating what guitar Ru-kun plays and decided there was no reason to narrow it down to one lol. Also he’s totally the type to just have way more guitars (and shoes) then he could possibly ever use and should totally have one of those epic guitar walls whenever he gets around to making that recording room.

Squier Contemporary Jaguar HH ST Electric Guitar (Sky Burst Metallic): His first guitar. He bought it as a teenager living in Endeavor’s house to a) make noise and piss his father off and b) because he really liked the color. It’s still his favorite. He played it in his junior-high garage band Band Aids. Fans saw a bit of it during the first few years of No Scrubs’ live shows, back when they still played in tiny dive bars and Ru-kun was so close you could touch him 😭. It makes fans very nostalgic whenever they catch sight of it.

Fender American Ultra Stratocaster Electric Guitar (Arctic Pearl): Another guitar he bought because it was very pretty (let’s be real, that’s the reason he bought all of them). Achieved critical acclaim as a fan favorite when Ken-chan grabbed it out of his hands on stage and threatened to beat a belligerent drunk out of the venue with it. She was talked out of it after Ru-kun said she’d have to pay for a new one if she busted it over some guy’s head.

Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro V Flame Top Electric Guitar (Blueberry Burst): Super glossy beautiful guitar with a great sound. Recorded the albums Thanks I Hate it Here and Good News for People Who Love Bad News with this guitar. He also gives it away in MDNSY Ch 39 to Shouto, who treasures this beauty as it deserves, even if he really doesn’t know how to play it all that well.

Gretsch “Stump-O-Matic” Electromatic Electric Guitar (White): He really likes to play this one during live shows, very versatile and unfussy. Played it all throughout the ‘Scrubs Unite’ tour and eventually gives it away to Izuku in MDNSY Ch 38(?) and reclaims it briefly in FLW Ch 29 to play Say It Ain’t So.

Gibson Lzzy Hale Signature Explorerbird Electric Guitar (Cardinal Red): His guitar for the “I’m never going to Hosu again” show Makoto dragged them all to during their hiatus in MDNSY Ch 15, aka the guitar he serenaded Tensei with 🤣 Also recorded Glass Onion Heart on this guitar, bc I love the idea of him playing Misery Business on this baby. He also posed for his magazine cover for Sound & Sundry in FLW Ch 20 with this guitar.

D’Angelico Premier Series Gramercy LS Acoustic Guitar (Matte Sky Burst): I call this the Limitless guitar cause it’s just the perfect color to match his eyes lol. He went out and bought this just to record the acoustic album Tensei guilt-tripped him into making, Don’t You Know Who I (Think) I Am. Also serenaded Hawks with it during the No Scrubs radio interview with Present Mic in FLW Chapter 23.

Fender American Pro II Stratocaster Electric Guitar (Miami Blue): Very cool vintage blue guitar he recorded Death Before Decaf on, bc I love the very neon 90′s era look and I love the idea of him playing Nirvana/Weezer/3EB tributes (even if no one knows they’re tributes) on it even more. It’s also Yui’s favorite guitar, for obvious reasons. Did he buy it because he knows it’s her favorite color? Probably. He already promised he’d never sell off his collection (gifting them is another story) but he especially promised not to part with this one. It’s a legacy guitar that’s going to end up in the hands of someone special someday (aka Eri lol)

Fender H.E.R Stratocaster (Chrome Glow): I have been told rather reliably by the mysteriously large amount of friends I have in indie bands that there’s no such thing as too many guitars, and on a related note, no such thing as too many Stratocasters. I am obsessed with H.E.R’s stratocaster and I can 100% envision it being custom made by Fender for Ru-Kun once No Scrubs reaches the international critical acclaim they deserve. He names it Infinity, and records the album Infinity on High with it. In recorded performances for the album he alternates between this one and the Gibson Explorerbird.

Duesenberg USA Starplayer Electric Guitar (Crimson Red): Yet another stunning guitar with a very vintage vibe. I was so torn on whether I liked the black one or the red one more bc both are so beautiful. Let’s be real he probably buys both but plays the red one live just because it’s pretty and shiny and red always reminds him of Hawks’s wings ♡ Records the May Death Never Stop You album on this baby, and plays the tour of the same name. Also the guitar

Taylor 614ce Special-Edition Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar: Has a lot of Feelings™ and goes out and drops 3k on this baby just because it reminds him of Hawks and that’s got him feeling a way and records his second acoustic album with it. He absolutely plays a lot of Anti-Hero on it, just bc the brand name lol

A/N: hi friends! it has been a YEAR since i first posted do i know you? (well a year tomorrow the 24th) the start to Bel and Harry's story. i could not even imagine how much you would all come to love them, because here i am still writing about them a year later. not only do i love them but you do as well. happy reading, amores!!!! <3

Glamour Friend Test with Y/N Belmonte and Harry Styles

The video opens with Harry and you smiling brightly at the screen as you begin the introduction.

“Hola, soy Y/N Belmonte” you greet with a small wave at the camera.

“And I’m Harry Styles,” he jumps into the frame, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and holding you close.

“Today, we’re doing Glamour’s friendship test.” You say together in unison.

The frame changes and you’re standing there with a timid smile while waiting for the producers to give you the go-ahead. You’re fiddling with the top of your cream trousers, doing your best not to mess with the silk olive green halter top as you were afraid of wrinkling it due to all of Emerson’s warnings.

“How did you meet?” The producer asked.

“Harry and I met in 2015, if you can believe that.” You fiddle with the multi-colored bracelet on your wrist that Sarai made for you during the holidays. Naomi had gotten her loads of colored threads. “It was a party we were both at. Harry was being his charming self, working the room. He treated everyone with respect and spoke with them as if he knew them already.”

That night changed your life, maybe not at that exact moment, but it led you to where you were meant to be, and you would forever be grateful.

“He introduced himself, and we talked about the night, how good the apple cider was compared to his tequila. It was one of the easiest conversations I’ve ever had with someone I just met.” You look down at your Gucci loafers, a gift from Lambert during the holidays. “I don’t know if people know, but I’m awful with conversation with people close to my age. I get anxious and unsure what to discuss while with someone older, conversation flows. I grew up with my abuelos–my grandparents, so I feel that’s why.”

You nod, trying to figure out how to wrap this up, “meeting Harry and getting to call him my best friend is a blessing. He’s got a good heart. He loves what he does, and he’s always so grateful. He always expresses it in any way possible. He's a great influence. I started doing morning yoga because of him. I’m glad he’s in my life.”

“How did you meet Y/N?”

“I think Bel summed it up perfectly. We met at a mutual friend’s party and hit it off. Then we reconnected at my show in St. Paul, where her friend surprised her with tickets. Bel, when we first met, made a mark in my life. I will say we lost touch but finding her again might have been the best thing to happen to me.” Harry raises his hand and rubs his eyebrow, indicating he is nervous. “I have been a fan of hers for the longest time. My sister and I watched her movies. We watched when she won her Emmy and Oscar. I’m a big fan. She’s the type of artist who puts everything she is into what she does. Honestly, the entire crew is a fan. On more than one occasion, we've gotten together to watch her films.”

You step back into the frame, wrapping your arms around his right arm, squeezing tight for a few seconds but don’t let go after instead look over at the camera.

“And now we’re here in the studio,” Harry says, clearly loving you hanging off his arm.

You straighten up after a few seconds, bumping his hip, getting a laugh out of him. “Finally get to show this one how to do a proper interview."

“I’m older than you,” he mutters.

“Semantics.”

“I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this with me. Bel’s got two films debuting soon and currently in the middle of filming.”

You hide your face in your hands. As proud as you are, now is not the time for compliments and praise from Harry. “Nooo, stop,” you plead.

“Dork,” Harry mutters, quickly pressing a kiss to your head before smiling at the camera, knowing if he looked down and saw the wide grin on his face, he’d kiss you, and you both discussed, and it’s not something either of you was willing to share to the public.

“Let’s begin!” You shout.

Exercise One: Stare into each other’s eyes for 3 minutes

Harry shifts closer to you as he gazes down at you. You look up and smile because you love his eyes. You love how expressive they are, and how you can always see the love he has for you in them.

You keep your hands at your side no matter how tempted you are to reach out for Harry; he was more nervous about this video than you were. As much as you assured him that it would all be okay, he was concerned that he’d be too loving with you.

Looking at Harry, he does not hide his affection for you. The smile he offers you is small but enough to keep you staring and leaning closer as if you want to close the gap between you.

“This is a long time,” he jokes.

“Three minutes is a normal song length,” you tell him.

Harry quirks an eyebrow, “is this you telling me you want me to sing for you?”

“Only if you want,” you tease.

He reaches a hand up slowly, causing you to freeze. Not sure what he’s going to do when he gently boops your nose with his index finger, causing you to scrunch your nose.

“Dork.”

His laugh rings loud, his eyes crinkling, and you can’t help the smile that takes over your face because you’re the one who caused him to laugh and shine that bright.

“I could do this all day,” he jokes, stepping closer, your foreheads an inch away from touching, and you know the producers are loving this, and so are you for the moment.

“How did that feel?” The producer asks after the time goes off.

Harry crosses his arms, looks at you, and then looks back at the camera. “Bel looks at you like deep, deep into your soul, and I feel so seen yet so safe.”

“Awe, H,” you pout, not expecting such a genuine answer. He was baring a bit of himself today, and you felt you could do the same differently. You reached for his hand, giving it a quick squeeze. It was so short Harry kept his eyes on his hand, trying to figure out if it was real or if he dreamt it happened.

“Harry’s got kind eyes. You take one look and feel like you’re talking to a friend, that he’s actually listening to what you’re saying.”

“I’m a great listener,” he agrees. “My mum would say so as well.”

“Also, I’m a sucker for green eyes,” you shrug, “I’m easily charmed.”

“Moving on, please. I don’t need competition competing for your heart.” Harry shares proudly, a tint of pink visible on his cheeks.

Exercise Two: Give each other compliments

“Oh, you’re going to love this,” Harry teases as he writes on the notepad they provided each of you with.

You frown but don’t respond by focusing on writing all your favorite things about Harry down.

I love when you comb my hair

Your voice audios always make me smile

Your silly jokes aren’t funny, but you love it when I laugh

The way you love me is something that consumes me entirely, mind, body, and soul.

You rip the page and fold it, causing Harry to stop and gasp, “how much are you writing?” Harry is now worried all he’s writing will not be enough now.

“That was a bad page. I’m starting over.” You actually pocket the paper and promise yourself to hand it over to him at the end of the day.

“That bad?” He teased.

You nod, not bothering to lift your head and meet his gaze, “the worst.”

“Meanie.”

You giggle, poking his cheek until he gives you the smile you were searching for, the smile he only gives you.

“Ready, H?”

Harry scribbles one more thing. As you peek at his notes, you see his chicken scratch writing, only able to make out a few words he’s written.

“Stop it, Bel.” He mutters under his breath, but you know the microphone under his shirt caught that.

You playfully roll your eyes, “not like I can read your awful writing anyway.”

“Rude.”

You stand there smiling at Harry, rocking on the heels of your shoes as Harry begins to read his compliments to you.

“To start off, I want to say I compliment her all the time,” Harry shares.

You remember everything I've told you, in great detail.

Easy. Smooth. You could handle this.

I love your cooking and that you accommodate my needs.

You scrunch your nose at him, knowing you’ve had him try the new recipes of a traditional Mexican dish so he could enjoy them.

You bring out the best in people. I’ve seen it countless times.

That’s when you feel your face start to heat up. Gosh, this really needs to be over soon. Harry’s gaze is intense because he knows you. He knows what makes you tick and hot. You are seconds from looking away. You probably would have walked away if you weren’t being recorded.

My bandmates love you, as do my friends. You fit perfectly with us all.

That compliment has you biting your lip as you try your best to hide your smile, not realizing just how sweet Harry was going to be.

You’re the strongest and bravest person I have ever met.

Harry opens his arms, and you rush into his hold as you whisper your thanks for his sweet words that will be on loop for weeks, possibly a lifetime. He kisses the side of your head before slowly releasing you.

“Come on, Bel. I want you to boost my ego,” he teases. You know he said that to make you laugh, and he knows you well because you let out the tiniest giggle.

You step back, letting him hold your hand while the other reads from the paper in your hand,

Your kindness goes beyond this world.

Harry squeezes your hand in a small thank you.

I love when you send me voice notes of lyrics you don’t want to forget because you appreciate my commentary.

You grin as he shakes his head at the small confession.

You’ve got excellent style. It has been so much fun seeing it develop. Which leads to this next one: thank you for letting me raid your closet.

Harry lets his smile shine for this compliment because it is true. He loves seeing you in his clothes.

You’re my best friend who’s practicing his Spanish for me.

The blush can be seen on his cheeks. Now it’s his turn to hug you, overwhelmed at the small compliments you gave him. Although, you do it on your own accord all the time.

“This exercise was hard for me because I like giving compliments but don’t easily receive them.” You confess to the camera. Harry already knows this about you and couldn’t care because he loved telling you all the things he loves about you.

Harry chirps in, “she is so good at deflecting. It’s a skill she’s mastered well.”

You nudge his arm, making a shushing noise for exposing you openly like that.

“Not nice.”

He laughs, “I have one more compliment. Can I read it?” Harry doesn’t even let you answer before opening his mouth again. “I love your love for music, even if it’s not always mine.”

Y/N giggles, reaching out to squeeze his hand quickly before letting go.

“Who’s your favorite right now, Y/N?” The producer asks.

“Hmm…” you give yourself a moment to think of an answer when you see Harry rolls his eyes, already knowing what you’re going to say. “Bad Bunny.”

“Don’t get her started,” Harry pleads. “I can only take so much.”

“Oh, H hates it when I talk about music because our interests go everywhere, but we somehow always manage to find common ground. But, Benito just has the whole world captivated, including me. I’m a big fan. He has a big influence on his audience. It is amazing to see him use his platform to talk about important issues going on in the world. I’m trying to get out to a show soon.” You playfully raise your hand to your ear, making a ‘call me’ gesture into the camera. Harry doesn’t catch it, but you’ll know he’ll pout when you see the video back together.

“You didn’t tell me that,” Harry gasps, shocked at the news.

“I’m still trying to figure out a day, that’s why.” You playfully pinch his cheek as he huffs out a breath.

“Moving on.” Harry turns to stare straight at the camera, “see what I mean.”

Exercise Three: Hug for two minutes

Harry beams a smile at the camera because he gets to hold you for two minutes. It may only be a short two minutes. It's not very long, but compared to the countless times of holding you for hours, sometimes even through the whole night. Just this morning when he woke up, his arms were wrapped around you and less than half an hour ago, he held on tightly to you in his dressing room, across from yours.

“Ready, Bel?” Harry asks, his arms extended, ready to take her in his embrace.

You don’t answer; instead, step forward, wrapping your arms around his waist.

It’s quiet the first few seconds, something you’re used to. Silence is something that has never bothered you and even less when it comes to Harry. Together you can sit in silence and enjoy having the presence of someone else with you without having to force a conversation.

Everything comes easy with Harry.

You love that your head rests comfortably on his chest. It’s your favorite spot because you hear his heartbeat's steady rhythm. It’s why you love hugging him, as often as you let him be the little spoon, he always gives you cuddles throughout the day because he knows how much a hug from him soothes you.

“She’s a good hugger,” Harry shouts, making the crew laugh.

Time seems to move slowly when you’re in your favorite person’s arms. You managed to stay quiet the entire time until Harry called your name.

“Bel?” He tries again.

“Shush,” you whisper. “I’m comfortable.”

Harry giggles, squeezing you tight for a second.

A timer rings out loud, ending your two minutes, but you both linger for a few extra seconds. You feel your face warm and know that fans will go crazy for this tiny bit of PDA you offered.

“How did you feel?”

Harry gestured for you to answer first. You nudge him but do as he says. “It was nice. Harry runs warm, so I felt cozy.”

He grins at the confession. More times than you can count, you told him that sleep manages to come easy when you’re wrapped in his arms.

“Bel is an amazing hugger. She fits perfectly and rubs your back, making it much better.” He wears his smile with pride.

“I think hugs are great. They are definitely under-appreciated,” you share. “If you ever have the chance to hug Harry, I suggest you take it.” You feel his eyes on you but don’t meet his gaze; instead, you stare straight at the camera giving the audience your best smile.

Exercise Four: Trust fall

“Trust fall is easy,” Harry assures you. “A piece of cake.”

You try your best to hide your nerves, which comes easy as you’re a well-awarded actress. Lifting your head, you meet Harry’s eye and smirks, “oh, I’m not worried, darling.”

Harry giggles loving your display of confidence.

“You can start first then, Bel.”

Harry has been acting too confident, and you want to keep him on his toes. As he counts down for you to go, you let yourself fall forward instead of falling backward. Harry panics and lunges for you, managing to wrap his arm around your waist, straightening you quickly.

Your laugh rings loud, eyes shut as Harry holds you against his chest. You can feel the pounding of his heart and uneven breaths. “Knew you’d save me.”

“You’re mean, Bel. So cruel.” He pouts as he lets you go preparing for you to fall the correct way this time.

“Let’s do it. Serious now.”

You point to the camera recording your every move, “at least it’ll be caught on camera if he does happen to drop me.”

Harry groans, “I won’t.”

You close your eyes and cross your arms across your chest, take a second to take a deep breath, and then fall backwards. It felt like minutes but was only seconds because you feel strong arms around you. As you blink your eyes, Harry stares at you with a dimpled smile, proud to have caught you.

“Hi,” you greet.

“Caught you.”

“Seems you always do.”

A blush rises on Harry’s face as he shakes his head at you. You want him to kiss you. It’s all that’s missing from making this a romantic moment. Instead, he straightens you up and brushes his hands down the sides of your arms, telling you that he’s ready for his turn.

Harry stands in front of you, looking taller for some reason, and you feel the palm of your hands begin to sweat.

“I think this has been a lot of fun. Trusting your friend is important, so I don’t think I’d do this with just anyone. Harry is honestly the best for doing this with me. If you didn’t already get that from this entire video, he's my best friend. He always sings for me. Who does that? And I bake vegan banana bread for him.”

“You’re stalling,” Harry finally interrupts you.

“Don’t be ridiculous.”

“Bel.” His tone softens, and you let your shoulders drop.

“Don’t want to drop you, H.” You whisper, but the microphone connected to you catches your confession.

“You got this, love. I trust you.”

You take a deep breath, shaking your arms and legs before putting on your game face. You can do this.

“Do it, H. I got this.”

Harry turns around, giving you a slight nod, and you smile back at him. It’s fair to say he knows you well because he stands still for a few seconds before letting himself fall back into your waiting arms. You let out a big “oof” when his weight falls on your outstretched arms.

“You did it, Bel!” Harry lets you help him up, and in the next second, you’re in his arms as he spins you around. After a few spins, he sets you back down, he quickly presses a kiss to your forehead.

“You’re heavier than I thought,” you share.

“Oi!” Harry gasps in shock. “You’re lucky I like you.”

“The luckiest,” you agree.

The End

“Well, that was exhausting,” you say, pretending to wipe the sweat off your forehead.

Harry nods, draping an arm around your shoulder and bringing you close to his side. “It was, but I think we passed.”

“Oh, with flying colors.”

“Proud of us.” He looks down at you, his bunny teeth smile on display for you. “We really are friends. Best friends.”

You gasp in shock, “did you hear that?” Harry rolls his eyes at your dramatic act. “He called me his best friend. Take that, Mitch.”

“Think Mitch is happy to pass me off.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you,” you promise him.

You and Harry stare at each other for a few seconds, then at the camera, back to each other. The laughter is pulled out of both of you simultaneously as you turn to wave goodbye to the cameras.

“Bye!”

“Adios!”

“I love being your best friend,” Harry whispers as the cameras are cut off.
