Urgent thing I need to share before my ADHD brain forgets:

Harry Potter Post-war Breaking Bad AU:

Snape survived, but since Voldemort is dead, the Dark Marks are slowly killing all the remaining Death Eaters, something Voldy did as a failsafe. And like, let's take into consideration that Harry is quite literally a War Veteran and has some tremendous PTSD, and he probably doesn't know how to cope, and now starts taking Muggle drugs.

So now we have the slowly-dying-'chemistry' -Professor and the horrible-at-'chemistry' -ex-student-now-junky.

The motive for Snape to start making that stuff is still a bit wonky, but it would probably be to leave something for Hogwarts.. Or for his godson Draco.. Yk,,

Anyhow, let's assume he has a motive to do this for now. Maybe he wanted to visit Harry for old times sake, since yk their history and all, and he ends up discovering that Harry became an addict to a Muggle drug.

You know the drill. Lots of discouragement and fighting, until Snape, who is admittedly a bit impressed that Harry was able to make that stuff in the first place, gives in and makes a magical equivalent. Now, that's where the whole fun begins.

I didn't even think about it until now, but it would 100% result in Severitus.

I'm just imagining the two of them sitting in an old Muggle Camper-van, Snape with a cauldron instead of Muggle chemistry equipment, complaining about the size of the thing when it could be magically enhanced, Harry, who keeps telling him that it's more convenient that way in case someone's after them so they'll reach the steering wheel faster.. And the best part is the magical elements in this story. Police AND Aurors would be after them, Kingpins like Tuco Salamanca or Gus Fring could also be Wizards (Gus as a Wizard would GENUINELY be terrifying.), and the whole thing overall would be so much more exciting.

The Weasleys would 100% help Harry sell the stuff.

Anyhow, this concludes this madness for now.

I have a tiny announcement

I will be continuing The Heir to the House of Prince. I’m sure only three people know about this but this fic was recommended to me by two friends, and I read up to 50 chapters. But after having reader’s block (is that a thing? let’s make it a thing) I discussed the fanfic with one of said friends and they convinced me to drop it because of what happens later on. Now I realise the now-ex friend has shit opinions and I shouldn’t give up on anything with Snupin in it just because they think so. Y’all can send me asks about it if you’re curious about anything (what it’s about, why I gave it up, etc).

Honestly I personally love what they did with the Maleficent live action. That represents one of my all-time favourite tropes: enemies to friends to parental figures. Like. Eugh.

I've been a big fan of Snape-Harry interactions recently, but there's one thing I can't figure out.

I have a soft spot for their platonic interactions but here lies one problem. As far I know, a term severitus is commonly used (and was basically made) for father-son-like relationships between the two, which also involves mentorship. But I've seen bunch of people using severitus when talking about platonic as well AND referring to platonic interactions as synonym to mentorship. And this kinda left me confused, coz those two terms, well, are kinda different and you simply can't put equal sign between those.

Some even say severitus was made as a name for platonic version of their interactions, but they usually still mean mentorship by saying this. Due to that I genuinely don't understand what I should call their platonic interactions as plenty other fans use names for romantic relationships, but with the emphasis that it's a platonic version of one. Seems partly fair to me, but saying "platonic snarry" can be a bit strange.

Moreover, AO3 eg uses & to differentiate platonic relationships, but referring to it as snarry can be confusing.. so...

I really don't know which one is better as severitus isn't really about friendships (or at least it's not commonly used in senses different than mentor-ish) and snarry in its nature is specifically a thing for non-platonic stuff. Like.. I'd be very grateful if someone brought some light to this, as.. it confuses me a lot.

Much bigger problem tho.. is when talking about queerplatonic kind of relationship. Coz this way it becomes much more obvious, that it lays neither in romantic snarry nor mentor or perhaps sometimes platonic severitus. It's basically neither. Btw, in this situation I don't even know whether to use / or &. Neither fit.

There is practically one single qpr story between them and it's tagged as slash but even tho I agree that it fits much better than gen for instance, it's still not entirely right, as.. well ships usually mean romantic/sexual stuff going on, and qpr defies those on its nature.

I actually ship Snape and Harry exclusively in qpr, but calling it snarry seems off a bit. So yeah. I know that people were suggesting using ~ for qprs, but it's not a very common move. So.. any thoughts on that?

Hey i think ur kinda online now so im gonna ask smt rq, u see, after the third year is done, are you gonna make a one shot for like aftermath of graveyard or like any type fourth year stuff, or are we just gonna skip to 5th year, CUZ İ WOULD LOVE TO SEE 4TH YEAR ONE SHOTS

I have some interesting plans for that actually! I am definitely doing a time skip for this sequel, but one thing I am quite certain of is that it's actually all going to kick off with the aftermath of the graveyard. I might also do a couple of flashback style things during the fic of Harry remembering interactions with Snape and Draco from during his fourth year. I just don't want to end up writing a canon rehash, which is why I'm not covering fourth year in heavy detail.

On that note, the plan is that the sequel will take place during the summer between fourth and fifth year. It may sound like a short time period, but I have so much stuff planned out which people will hopefully enjoy! I haven't made my mind up yet about whether or not this is going to expand into fifth year, since this is all in the super early stages.

Just as a general aside to anyone interested, this sequel is not going to be an instant thing - after A Patchwork Family ends, I'm participating in the Severitus Big Bang, and then I am working a job over the summer with no access to devices so it might be a few months before anything starts coming out. It is, however, definitely happening at some point, as just this week I was hit with a huge slew of ideas that have got me very excited to write the sequel!

brief update:

i had a rough week of being sick and not really sleeping so I’m kinda out of it. I did write about 4k of chapter 46 last weekend but haven’t picked it up since then.

I’m done with my summer job so I have august off before I go back to work which i am so fucking happy about; as long as I don’t take another dive with my health I should have chapter 46 up this weekend, I know I left it on a particularly cruel cliffhanger.

if I haven’t answered your ask please know I have seen it and will get to it at some point, I just have 3 braincells and I’m planning on deep cleaning my apartment tomorrow and getting some work prep underway to reset my brain. I couldn’t do anything fanfic related this week without mentally checking out.

in other news: please send fanfic recs. I’m in need of some good severitus (nothing super ooc) and snily (very rare to find good stuff but I’m hoping) or anything else recommended! I’d say the only stuff I’d ask you not to send is Snape/OC, not my thing unfortunately. I’ve reread manacled about 5 times and it puts me into a depressive every goddamn time so I need to stop LOL

I’ve been re-reading some of my favourite HP fics as I wait for HL to come out, and I love how you can tell which house the author is in based on how they’re ‘fix-it’ fic goes:

Gryffindor

- Massive, Avengers-style epic final showdown between Voldie and Harry

- Golden Trio + Neville

- “Harry no-” “Harry YES!”

- Harry Potter / Ron Weasley have absolutely zero impulse control and it’s giving Hermione high blood pressure

Lily's boy is such a superior fic despite the classic bashing/Dumbledore planned everything kind of fic. It's superior cuz of the writing. If the author was a shit writer then the fic would kinda be a flop (except the snupin that never flops cuz it's snupin)

Hngh Snupin being Harry's dad's is the best thing and needs to happen more often in severitus fics.

I’ve taken notice of these similarities before, anon, but never have I really put all of them together at once. I try to restrain myself when posting something about two controversial characters from two different fandoms (it kinda feels like I’m piling all the controversy together lol), but I love drawing out comparisons between Tony and Sev, their stans, the characters they’re “pitted against” in canon (for Tony it’s Wanda and ig Steve, for Sev it’s the Marauders) and their stans, and their haters as a whole. Tbh I simply look at all of my faves from every series I love and see the resemblance so out in the open, it’s obvious I have a certain taste in characters lmao.

Hi this is "severitus with alive Jilly au, unboxing horcrux gone wrong". I'm not going to write this because it will take time and those ideas are basically my good bye letter to this fandom. It's a little painful for me but I know I cannot stay in this fandom anymore. There are obviously more reasons but the main one is because this has been a central part of my childhood and I feel like I just cannot let it be a part of me for an unknown amount of time. I might return to it later in life but this is technically my goodbye to my childhood and me saying hello to adulthood officially (this is also why I'm staying an anon, I don't want to be associated with this fandom anymore, I want a clean break). This took a sad turn, but anyways, returning to the au.

You know the drill, I might also drop in

Bellatrix has a knife to my throat, I don't know what to do, I don't know what to say, I guess I don't have to say anything cuz Ron starts screaming

The rest of the week is kind of a blur everyone is panicking, we're sleeping in the Great hall, my parents come over and for some reason my dad asks what did I do to scare her off and is disappointed to find out I didn't do anything, she just kinda ran away after hearing Ron. My mom is kind of silent, she doesn't say anything, just asks if I got hurt "or something" (why did she say it like that does she not love me anymore?) and they just kind of leave after that, not making sure I was actually okay I wish Auntie or Peter were here instead of them

Snape did make sure I was okay, he gave me a cookie and a awkward head pat. Professor Lupin actually tries to talk to me, I appreciated that, he even offered to tutor me in any spell I wanted and I don't think any of us was expecting me to take up that offer. I had a dream where I couldn't cast a spell, it was called a Patronus and it apparently works against dementors, considering I still can't go outside without hearing children being tortured by a woman in a orphanage (I asked Tom about it and he apparently did grow up in an orphanage and we're his memories, I'm still not sure why am I hearing them but okay, sure, normal Tuesday shit for Harry Potter), I also know that Tom approves of this choice my soul was warmer that usual

Things go of as usual, aunt Petunia actually sends me an owl and that is a big step because usually hates owls.

I may not like being treated like I'm made out of glass by the rest of the school but I gained a new friend, Hermione, she is a little condescending and a little bit too nosey but she is super loyal and is willing to talk about things that Ron isn't ready for yet, like politics and bullies and the unfairness of being put a label on and being expected to act a certain way and how the wizarding world treats those they deam beneath them and how cute Blaise Zabini is and how hot Lavender is becoming. Though she is weirdly against dark magic and I am too, I think, but she takes it to a whole new level and now we are researching dark magic and how negatively it affect our society. I win three to one pro-dark magic.

School goes on and I have a bet with Ron and Hermione about the date of Snape and aunt Petunia's wedding because Spane handed me a letter from my aunt one morning and the Weasley twins said they saw a hickey of Snape's neck. I bet around summer after fifth year and summer before the forth year. Who cares I wasted twenty galleons, I'm rich, especially after my godfather dies.

I master the Patronus charm and leave everyone flabbergasted when I used it spontaneously on a dementor on my way to Herbology.

Somewhere in a tower towering over the school a batty old teacher named Trelawney said in a thousand voices that weren't her own but were: "That boy might as well save himself for Death if he is going to provoke him so, Death always loved a challenge." To bad the only person there to witness that didn't have any idea what that meant and thought that Trelawney was high and made a sexual joke so he laughed, like any 14 year old would, and went back to cleaning fake cristal balls.

The year ended so we went back home and I will spend the first month with my aunt and then head back to my parents. A scream is heard along the train and then another one and another one. Students are running along the hall so I get out of the compartment to see what's going on and a decapitated head (a boy in the year above me, a Hufflepuff), drenched in blood, lands at my feet (the only person who remebers what happens when you peak Death interest the only person who can begin to guess Harry's fate) with a a loud smacking sound and I look up from the blood filled floor and look into the eyes of a faded beauty, Bellatrix fucking Lestrange, in all her twisted glory.

The smiles at me, it's a gentle smile, it's the smile that a mother gives her child when their being endearing or funny, it's surprisingly... fond. "I finally found you again, my beautiful little doll." He grabs my collar with surprising force and forcefully drags me to a corpse filled compartment and the last thing I see before the window shatters behind me is her motherly smile.

'At least I can't lose the bet when I'm dead' is my last thought before pain erupted from my head and my back as hundreds of glass shards find their painfull home in my back.

Sorry for the wait, it took me 45 minutes to write this to make it quality to make up for my drunk ramblings last time, and don't worry, despite the cruelty I'm putting Harry through, he'll survive it somehow, he's a though little cookie.

I do my absolute best to!!! The main reason I write fanfic is because I love the community around it! But sometimes I have to choose between responding to comments or working on the fic they commented on and I get the feeling that people would prefer that I write the fic rather than respond to their comments XD

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m not much of one for angsty endings, I love angsty beginnings/middles, but I like to end on hope. So that being said, I do have an incredibly angsty ending that I might write for worth living for i might also go the sappy happy ending i originally had in mind. i might do both. who knows.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

since I already answered the previous one with a fic that doesn’t have an actual ending, i’ll avoid saying how like home for this one since that technically does not have an ending. instead, i’ll say This Is Our Salvation a real world-ish drarry AU that’s kinda weird but is the second fic that came to mind and not enough people have read it to be able to contradict me so yeehaw baby

much less now that I moderate comments on how like home! but yeah I do still sometimes get it, and it’s a bummer

not often, but like I love the community around fanfic, and people are weird about commenting on and interacting with explicit fics so it’s just not what I gravitate towards with my extremely limited writing time these days

gonna combine these previous two into one because i once had someone use google translate to translate my fic into spanish and then posted it to wattpad (all without notifying me, as i request in my permissions statement on ao3) and what’s hilarious is spanish is the one language i’d be able to tell that it’s google translated rather than earnestly translated. i’ve had other people request to translate hlh to other languages, i gave them the go ahead, but as far as i can tell, nothing ever came of that

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

a couple times! the longest fic I co-wrote is no longer on my ao3 for various reasons, but I also worked with minryll on the aforementioned phoenixes are pests and @yes-i-am-happyaspie have a fic we’re co-writing that i SWEAR i will get back to!!!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

i don’t like… go that hard for romantic ships.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i will finish all my wips i swear to god. i will be eighty fucking years old chipping away at these bitches if i must, but they WILL be finished.

introspection baby! unfortunately that means my characters are probably way more emotionally intelligent than they should be based on canon but such is life

summarizing. there’s a reason hlh spans like. two weeks of time. that’s because i hate summarizing when i could spell out everything that happens. and i know it’s a problem and i’m working on it!!! but like not as hard as i should because it’s hardddddd 😭

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven’t really run into this issue, but hypothetically I’d need to find a confident speaker of the language to give my dialogue a pass before I’d be willing to publish it

11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?

I have such a hard time killing my darlings 😭 I never want to. But I do it!! even though it’s hard! I did it not even like a week ago. There was a whole severitus plot line in build me no shrines that I was super attached to and I cut it, because it wasn’t working. I was crying the whole time and now I have a separate severitus fic that is in no way related. But yes I have a darling graveyard, usually they don’t stay dead long and get turned into new fic ideas

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

I mean, I’ve been doing creative writing forever it feels like. I wrote little short stories as a kid and drew really terrible comics. My mum got me this novel writing program that had a code for an online forum when I was around 12, and so I started writing a novel (I finished it too! I was 13 and it’s actually insane, the plot makes no sense, but like!! I did it, 45k of nonsense. my mum was so proud) but I joined the forum and it was a bunch of other kids all 12-17 who wanted to write books too. I kinda stopped for a while in high school and uni because I’d been told I couldn’t do anything with writing, that it was too hard to make a career out of it and I was better off doing something practical (haha jokes on them I went into art). Then in like… 2016? I had a brief little period where I wrote a couple Merlin fics, they didn’t do super well and I got a couple nasty comments that kinda put me off writing fanfic at all. Then in uhhhh August last year I got really into Harry Potter again after I broke off a toxic friendship with someone who said I couldn’t be queer and also like Harry Potter, so as a giant fuck you to them I joined the first HP discord server I found — which I kinda found my people right away and now I’m quite happily inhabiting my little corner of the internet and writing my stupid little stories.

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

Okay I don’t think I’m crazy organised but then I’ve been told I am, so idk make your own calls. I’ve got 2 physical notebooks, one for my two long WIPs and I just kinda put a coloured sticky note in the pages whenever I switch the fic I’m writing for, and a second book for random ideas and notes and stuff that usually gets transferred to the appropriate document later. The idea notebook is very small and lives in my pocket in case I’m out and need to write an idea down. But I don’t really take a lot of physical notes. My docs and folders though are perfectly organised. Docs are put in folders with their fic (or in the case of one shots, a folder for that) or like my general writing folder if it’s a resource, but I have a naming system that I use for all my projects, based on what kind of file it is so they get tagged with like [OUTLINE] or [WIP] or whatever is relevant. There’s a colour coding system within the documents (so like as I’m writing, notes to myself are always blue, notes on a character are green, sections that need editing are highlighted in red, sections that I’m currently working on are orange… and a few other colour keys that I won’t bore you with) and then I have a spreadsheet I use to track wc goals and overall progress and stuff. I’ve thought about using that “make your own wiki” site that was shared with me a little while ago (or I’ve got a subscription to WorldAnvil for my D&D notes, so maybe that) to start organising my lore notes a bit better, but that’s a fairly large project and I might just stick to what’s working for me.
