Cool Facts- The Seneca white deer are almost identical to normal white-tailed deer except the majority of the population is leucistic. In 1941, the Seneca Army Depot was constructed to contain 43 square kilometers of fenced-in, New York wilderness. A small population of deer were isolated within the fencing, a few sporting white fur. As the deer bred throughout the decades, more and more became leucistic. While the army originally hunted the deer for food, it was banned in the 1950’s to shoot a white deer. Of the 700 deer contained in the area, over 300 of them are pure white. As the property was bought for farming and businesses, business owners worked to open the Deer Haven Park as a sanctuary for these very special animals.

Gandy Creek and the Seneca Creek Backcountry together serve as the western gateways to the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area in the Monongahela National Forest. This incredibly beautiful and wild area boasts one of the premier trail systems in the Mid-Atlantic region, with some 60 miles of trails winding through twenty-thousand acres of wilderness-quality red spruce and northern hardwood forests. Gandy and Seneca Creeks are also two of the most highly regarded brook trout streams in the eastern US. On Saturday, in a cool, clinging mist, I took a hike on one of the less traveled trails, the Leading Ridge Trail. The pulsating intensity of the new spring greens made them seem to glow in the dripping moisture.
From top: golden alexanders (Zizia aurea), the flagship spring wildflower of the mountains with its massed, golden flowerheads; Robin’s plantain (Erigeron pulchellus), a daisy-like spring aster with wide, lavender ray petals; brook lettuce (Micranthes micranthidifolia), whose edible leaves were once gathered in the spring by mountain folk for salads; and white baneberry (Actaea pachypoda), also known as doll’s eyes, because its white fruit in the fall resembles the china eyes once used in dolls.

The white deer found at Seneca Army Depot are a natural variation of the white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), which usually have brown coloring. The Seneca White Deer are leucistic, meaning they lack all pigmentation in the hair, but have the normal brown-colored eyes.

Colin Dann’s White Deer Park herd from The Animals of Farthing Wood are either Seneca White Deer or are based on them. The females of the herd are called “hinds” which is used only in reference to female Red Deer or these white deer.

They live in Seneca County, New York, within an old army base which allowed them to have higher rates of survival than they normally would have in the wild with their brilliant white coats.

Hello again everybody!! I hope you well and still taking care of the pandemic, today we’re gonna talk about animals, first I tell you all about mines, my favorite animals. Anyway, we’ll start, you ready? Good.
These are some of the many animals that I like. Let’s go!!!
SNOW LEOPARD:
The snow leopard has evolved to survive under the most extreme conditions on Earth. Its grayish-white fur with large black spots blends perfectly with the texture of the rugged, rocky mountains of Central Asia.
The snow leopard's powerful anatomy allows it to climb large, steep slopes with ease. Its hind legs give the snow leopard the ability to leap the equivalent of six times its body length. Its long tail provides balance and agility, and also allows the snow leopard to shelter from the cold when at rest.
For thousands of years, this magnificent feline was king of the mountains, where prey such as blue goats, argali, ibex, marmots, rock rabbits and hares abounded. The snow leopard is found in 12 countries, including China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia and Mongolia, but its population is declining.
SPANISH HORSE:
The true origin of the Spanish Horse is not known for certain, however there is evidence that in pre-Roman times there were equestrian references in what is known today as Spain.
Roman authors such as Plutarch, Pliny the Elder and Seneca speak of the Hispanian horse as a beautiful, docile, arrogant and brave specimen, ideal for war and for the games that took place in the circuses of the time.
King Philip II ordered the horse herd of his kingdom and laid the definitive foundations for the Pura Raza Española to reach its apogee in the years to come. He achieved this through the creation of the Royal Stables of Cordoba, where he grouped together the best stallions and mares from the provinces bordering the Guadalquivir, which at that time were the most prolific in horse breeding.
Thus was born the Yeguada Real, which eventually became the Yeguada Nacional. A multitude of horses were then sent to the American continent, which had a decisive influence on their exploration, and these were the origin and basis of most of the breeds that were later bred in America.
BENGAL TIGER:
Tigers are the largest members of the cat family and are famous for their power and strength.
Bengal tigers, also called Indian tigers, live in India. They are the most numerous tiger species and account for about half of the wild tiger population.
For many centuries they have played an important role in Indian tradition and culture. Tigers live solitary lives and aggressively mark large territories with their scent to keep rivals away. They are powerful nocturnal hunters, capable of traveling many kilometers to find buffalo, deer, wild boar or other large mammals.
Tigers use their distinctive fur for camouflage (no two tigers have the same stripes). They stalk patiently and approach their victims with great stealth just long enough to attack them with a quick and lethal leap. A hungry tiger can eat up to 25 kilograms in one night, although they are usually not so voracious.

What kind of clothes does your oc/ ocs wear/would wear?
Tara: mostly casual clothing like simple T-shirts and Jeans, (armor when he fights) although it is pretty hard for her to change since she is a ghost and it takes a lot of concentration to interact with worldly objects
Oz: He also wears mostly casual things like hoodies but prefers darker colors. It also wears a blindfold most of the time because if he looks someone in the eyes they fall into a trance/hypnosis
Calyx: Flowers grow on their skin. The flowers change their type and color depending on how he is feeling. The flowers also form a cape, thats why its hard for her to put on normal shirts. The shirts he wears are out of natural materials like moss or plants and either created by them through godly powers or handsewn/crafted. His shirts are tied together behind his back.
Aeron: They wear pastel-colored button up shirts and skirts. Also fishnet stockings and boots. And many accessories like rings and collars and earrings
Leto: It doesn’t really have a human form its just a void so they dont wear anything
Even: He wears regal/prince clothing.

Tara: Coffee
Oz: Everyone thinks he’s a coffee person but he hates the taste of coffee so he’s more of a tea person
Calyx: idk he probably drinks ranch dressing straight out of the bottle or something

Tara: Mouse

Calyx: She is a spotted deer but their favorite animal are probably rabbits

Tara: It likes both of them but sadly she doesn’t have much time to play video games anymore

Calyx: He just cuddles with real animals instead of stuffed ones and he doesn’t really know what video games are (she lives in the forest) but they would destroy everyone in Mario Kart
Aeron: Doesn’t really like stuffed animals but loves videogames.

The Haudenosaunee people are a confederacy of six nations native to the Northeast in the US, as well as Ontario and Quebec in Canada. This confederacy consists of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora. Haudenosaunee means “people of the longhouse.”
Corn, beans, and squash are considered by the Haudenosaunee people to be special gifts from the daughter of Original Woman (Skywoman). As the story goes, when the daughter was dying in childbirth, she said that from her body would come the foods that would sustain the people. From her hands came the beans, from her breasts grew the corn, from her bellybutton grew the squash vines. From her legs grew the sunflowers, and from her head grew the sacred tobacco. From her heart sprouted the strawberry, and from her feet the original potato, known as a sunchoke. This is the cosmological story that comes to life every time Haudenosaunee people plant a Three Sisters Garden.
We are told that our creation story never ended. The well-being of each crop is believed to be protected by that of the others, and their relationship reminds us of our cultural teaching of interdependence. This collective of original foods is called Tionhnhéhkwen, or our life’s sustainers. They nourish us, so we must remember to nourish them in turn as a reflection of our gratitude. The creation story that began so long ago continues to unfurl and come alive in every moment, as our life sustainers emerge from Mother Earth and remind us of our Original Instructions. Dancing in the direction that the sun goes, First Woman put into place the cycles of continuous creation, continuous birth. As human beings we have been given the Original Instructions to follow, which maintain the cycles of continuous creation, of this continuous birth put forth by Skywoman.
In English, this interplanting is often called “The Three Sisters,” which refers to how we understand these indigenous crops to be our living relatives, who we descended from in our cosmo-geneology. This indigenous planting system refers to the planting of corn, pole beans, and squash or pumpkins together in hills.
Ehkadorah: All of the seeds shown here represent a small portion of my ancestral seed bundle. These seeds came to me at a time when I was seeking deeper connection to who I was as a young Mohawk woman. These seeds became my teachers and guides, helping me to rehydrate the ancestral memories that would encourage me to forge a more meaningful connection and relationship to the land and to my people. Through endless seasons and life cycles, they have persevered, passed down with the fragrance and memory of so many mothers’ prayers throughout the ages. Today they feed my children, along with the soil that feeds and nourishes so many here on our seed farm. May my breath, carrying seedsongs, be one of many prayers that reside at the very heart of these seeds, so that in generations to come they will protect and nourish those who courageously carry on the legacy of the ancestors.

Ehkadorah has medium brown hair and she has dark indigenous eyes; She wears a white deerskin dress with fringes, a buck hide belt, and a headband which is also a white deer skin garnet. She has a pair of bison hide moccasins which she wears to tribal and casual events.
Here are her two sisters, EDEA, AND AKASHA , they prefer to wear their warpaint and Hannah tattoo work to stay closer to their culture.

No, but she has a familiar! It’s a Seneca Deer (they're all white, and beautiful) named Winona ^.^ But if she had the option of pets, she’d have s o many snakes and lizards. Need more snamily for Fausty.

Compassion!! Especially towards animals in particular. Something about seeing someone be gentle with an animal sets her heart aflame. Ie. the scene with Muriel when they care for the animals u.u Or when Julian tends to Inanna’s wounds. swoon

Yup! She loves baking, and she l o v e s preparing spongy or cakey foods. So, her favorite, Strawberry Shortcake. But she also enjoys making soups! Or anything that has her in the kitchen for a long time, it’s her comfort space.

The Seneca White Deer Herd
“ The story of this herd began in 1941, when the now defunct Army Depot was constructed, and along with it a fence that ran its perimeter. Over five-hundred concrete “igloos” were erected as storehouses for munitions. The development of this arms storage facility helped to ensure the supply of weapons for our troops during World War II. It wasn’t until after the war had ended that, in 1949, the first white deer was observed on the base. At that time, Base Commander Colonel Frank Kemble Jr. issued an order that protected the white deer from harvest. As the population grew, and the acreage of the enclosure did not, it became necessary to hunt deer on the base to prevent their starvation – but protection for white deer remained. Over time, the proportion of white deer in the herd increased. “

The White Stag
In certain cultures around the world—European, Native American, and Asian—there have been stories and myths told about white deer. In European mythology magical animals are striking in appearance owing to their supernatural shape, color, speed, and power; a frequent attribute of those animals is an unnatural white color. In Celtic mythology the pursuit of supernatural animals is a common theme. The white stag or hart often appears in the forests around King Arthur’s court, sending the knights on adventures against gods and fairies. One fable relates how King Arthur arrived at Sir Pellinore’s well, a magical site, without his hunting party or his horse after pursuing a white deer. The white stag was also the heraldic symbol of England’s King Richard II.
In Hungarian mythology a white stag led the brothers Hunor and Magar to settle in Scythia and to establish the Hun and Magyar people.
In Native American mythology there is the Chickasaw legend, “Ghost of the White Deer.” There is also a Lenape legend about white deer that predicts that when a pair of all-white deer is seen together, it is a sign that the indigenous peoples of the Dawnland will all come together and lead the world with their wisdom.
Many tribes and indigenous peoples throughout the world have similar myths. The Seneca, Roanoke, Algonquin, Nanticoke, and Pocomoke tribes all relate sightings of the Great White Deer.
In Kamakura, Japan, the Engakuji Temple, which was founded in 1282, is the head of a branch school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. There a herd of divine white deer are said to have emerged from a cave to listen to the sermon of the temple’s founder the day it opened.

Meet Meringue!!!
Hey everyone! I don’t always post anymore like I used to, so to make up for it I made a new oc!! I found out about this anime called eto rangers, and I love retro anime and I gave it shot!! It’s wonderful so far!! It’s on YouTube so if you wanna watch it look it up and turn on captions for subtitles, since there’s no official dub. I always love obscure things lol.
