I’m reading the book “self made boys” and i just read a line about being “grabbed at by the suspenders and kissed” and now im so fucking soft for being a butch. I love being masc. i love being one of the boys and queer. Queer love is so holy to me.

Last summer I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Anna Marie McLemore's queer trans gatsby retelling, Self Made Boys. The cover was fairly bland in comparison to the published cover so giving this baby a rebind was one of my first binderary projects!

I of course didn't want to lose the original cover with the "exclusive" sticker on it so I made a little pocket in the back to keep it in.

The only thing its missing now is the title on the spine which I will hopefully be printing once I have access to a cricut at my local library and maybe some cute corner protectors.

So book rec time.

Did you like The Great Gatsby? This retelling is an warm, comforting update to the story about Nick, a transgender Mexican-American boy and his experiences joining his cousin Daisy in high society.

Featuring:

- historical setting but a sort of cultural update

- the exploration of a trans man finding love for another trans man.

- lesbian representation

- the love of the original novel is there in the detail.

Definitely worth a read.
