It's time for some Post Office Bounty! I am bad at checking my PO box but always delighted to find treats when I do. Up top, some delightful random flavored chips from @221squee, thank you! The takoyaki chips are very pungent -- they taste very nice but they do smell very strongly of fish -- and the "Chip Star" consomme flavor was delightful, I ate them all in like a day or two. I have to admit I haven't tried the foie gras flavor yet...I have had foie gras before but that's how I know it's, uh, a powerful flavor. I'll get up the courage eventually. :D And I love the card!
I always know when I get a package from @shirokou that it's going to be full of fun stuff -- there are some wonderful enamel pins (I'm going to have to redo my Ita bag for the new year!) and stickers, and I'm excited to learn about these diviniation dice that came with such a fun rolling mat. I'm going to be doing some tarot reading tonight so hopefully I'll do some dice throwing too!
And so many lovely cards! There's one in the middle that you can barely see because I wanted to make sure I covered up any faces, but I always love seeing the photo card every year! (And loved hearing about the new pup.)
The glittery gifts up top is a fun 3-D card from @scifigrl47 , and next to it the basket of boughs is from @delphia2000, thank you both for the holiday wishes! There's some pretty sheep from T in Berwyn (glad I offered some comfort and entertainment this year!) and a wonderful polar bear with some penguins from @kimmiesue13. I got a fun Christmukkah card from Josh & Kris (man the card also reminded me about the holiday I invented, Christisntspringhereyetmas, but there's always next year to celebrate that). Finally, a beautiful and indeed terrifying owl card from Wendy (it's so eerie, I love it) and some awesome glittery snowmen from Traylor.

I have another follower! I've almost lost count! (That's a lie--I totally have six. But I had no idea I've gained so many, since I'm still learning how to use Tumblr.) So, that means another fic rec!
This one is an older one from the Marvel fandom. Have some amazing canon-divergent Stony! I love Tony's characterization in this story--he's an amazing combination of young, vulnerable, and fuck you how dare you think I'm young and vulnerable. And Steve is so lost, struggling with his mental health and this modern era. There's so many canon characters who get a slightly different spin here. And identity porn!! I mean, what's not to like?!

It was a 2012 avengers fic which was an article written by peter parker (not spiderman) about it the og 6 avengers. There was a section on Tony and hulk being friends.
It was a rolling stones article I think?? But thats all i can remember

There's only one chapter left to finish, which is supposed to explain Peggy Carter's involvement with something called "Project Rebirth," but there are two problems: his trail of evidence goes cold every time he encounters references to an enigmatic soldier named Steven Rogers, and his stress levels shoot through the roof every time he runs into the endlessly frustrating new hire in Fine Arts, Dr. Grant.
arei’s thoughts: this is so lovely because the identity porn and Tony being so very--Tony. And the way it all came out, I just love it so much.

arei’s thoughts: i’m a big fan of this fic and a lot of it is down to Steve’s characterization and how much he struggles with having a child thrust upon him. It’s so very in line with the headcanon I have of Steve that it was nice seeing it here.

FIC REC WEEK 10 – FOUND FAMILY
AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: scifigrl47
If you've been in this fandom for any amount of time, you've probably read something of Sci's. The universes that she's created are a fandom staple, and it says a lot about how fantastic her writing is that her OCs fit seamlessly into the stories, to the point that I sometimes forget that they're not actually canon. I especially love the way she writes the whole Found Family aspect of the Avengers, so those are the kinds of fics I want to rec today. But honestly you should just go ahead and binge her entire AO3, because everything on it is incredible.

Phil Coulson Knows Tony Stark's Super Villain Name
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson
Rating: T

Summary: The only thing really stopping Tony Stark from attempting to conquer the world is that he wouldn't know what to do with it once he conquered it. He's still pretty sure he could do it, though.
SHIELD's pretty sure he could do it, too, and SHIELD is pretty uncomfortable with that. There's a plan in place, in case Tony makes a try for world domination, or any sort of caped super villainy. It involves Steve. No one is surprised.
This is not that plan. This is a training exercise, involving paint balls.
It might end with world domination, anyway.
Reasons why I love it:
You just know that if Tony wanted to, he would've taken over the world a long time ago. This fic is hilarious, and I especially love Bruce and Harris' roles in this disaster that Fury calls a training exercise. Also, Darcy is goddamn adorable. This fic always puts a smile on my face, so I hope you check it out!
The Best of Life and Asgard
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson

Summary: Tony Stark has been drunk at a few parties in his life. A quick browse of YouTube makes that impossible to deny, so he doesn't bother. But he can control himself, he doesn't have to drink. He can stay perfectly sober for just one night. He promised, he could go one night without drinking.
The problem is, he was the only one who made that promise.
Reasons why I love it:
Drunk Steve is so adorable, oh my god. I love the mild dash of angst sprinkled in at the beginning and the end, and Steve's upset over his own behavior is funny and endearing at the same time. The strip poker scene makes me cry laughing every time. And the Avengers family feels are strong with this one. I adore this fic, so please check it out, if you haven't already!
Phil Coulson Does Not Bake (and The Avengers Do Not Shop At IKEA Anymore)
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson
Rating: G

Summary: Sometimes Tony Stark makes poor choices. Sometimes Tony pushes his teasing of Steve Rogers just a little too far. Sometimes Steve decides he's had enough.

Tony is such a little shit. Honestly, he deserves what Steve has in store for him. And of course, Tony is absolutely adorable in his desperation to make it up to Steve, even if he has to learn a new skill to do it. The rest of the Avengers getting roped into it is just the cherry on top. I love this one so much, please go and read it for yourself, it's amazing!

Let's face it, the everyone assumed that Clint would be the first Avenger to take up pole dancing. He's a little distressed he's been beaten to the punch.
Reasons why I love it:
I don't know why, but somehow the thought of Spiderman pole-dancing for money just makes complete sense in my head. And the rest of the Avengers being nosy bitches about it is a given. We love to see it. And any appearance of Harris in a scifigrl47 fic is enough to make my day. This fic is amazing, and you should definitely go ahead and read it!

Give me Steve fighting bullies any day! Definitely check this one out if you haven't read it yet, I bet you'll love it just as much as I do!

For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

The trouble is, terrible decisions usually have a terrible price, and this one is no different. Tony has a chance to save the day, but the cost may be more than Tony was ever expecting to pay…
