No Labels Isn't What It Claims to Be
The “No Labels” Party is not what it pretends to be. It’s a front group for Donald Trump.
Now I understand, if you’re sick of the two major parties, you might be intrigued by a party that claims to be a “common sense” alternative that finds the middle ground.
But if you or anyone in your life is planning to vote for No Labels — or any third party — in 2024, please watch and share this video first.
Here are three things you need to know.
First, No Labels is a dark money group with secret far-right donors. Investigative reporting has revealed that they include many of the same Republican donors who have pumped huge sums of money into electing candidates like Trump and Ron DeSantis. They also include the rightwing billionaire Harlan Crow, who spent years secretly treating Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to a lifestyle of the rich and famous.
If the No Labels Party is backed by Trump donors, in an election where Trump is on the ballot, there’s actually a label we should give to “No Labels.” Clearly, they’re a pro-Trump group.
Second, the premise No Labels is based on — that Donald Trump and President Biden are at equally extreme ends of the political spectrum — is preposterous.
Trump has been impeached twice, found by a jury to have committed sexual assault, is facing 91 criminal charges in four separate cases — two of them in connection with an attempt to effectively end American democracy.
There is no “equally extreme” candidate as Trump!
Finally, the structure of the Electoral College means that as a practical matter, a third party only draws votes away from whichever major party candidate is closest to it. No third party candidate has ever won a presidential election.
And in this particular election, when one of the major parties is putting up a candidate who threatens democracy itself, we cannot take the risk.
Donald Trump has already tried to overturn one election and suggested suspending the Constitution to maintain power. It is no exaggeration to say that if he takes the White House again, there may not ever be another free and fair election.
Democracy won by a whisker in the last presidential election. Just 44,000 votes in Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin — less than one tenth of 1 percent of the total votes cast nationwide — were the difference between the Biden presidency and a tie in the Electoral College that would have thrown the election to the House of Representatives, and hence to Trump.
If candidates from No Labels— or any other third party, like the Green Party or the Libertarian Party — peel off just a fraction of the anti-Trump vote from Biden, while Trump voters stay loyal to him, Trump could win the top five swing states comfortably and return to the Oval Office. And No Labels’ own polling shows they would do just that!
Let me be absolutely clear. Third-party groups like No Labels are in effect front groups for Trump in 2024, and should be treated as such.
The supposed “centrism” No Labels touts is nonsense. There is no middle ground between democracy and fascism.

To be fair the ones handwringing about this "challenge to democracy" are probably referring not to the indictments themselves but to the disturbing reality that a largish portion of the american public is ready and willing to undermine the country's democratic institutions to defend one scumbag. The guardrails will hold, January 6 proved that, but seeing waves of rightwing nutjobs try to smash against the walls is still unnerving.
Yeah maybe, for some of them. But the problem remains that this kind of rhetoric still frames the reaction of Trump's deranged fans as the fault of the indictments, and implies in addition that the indictments should not be pursued in case they make these people angry. Which is just... nonsensical on many levels? Trump and his entire anti-democratic movement have been doing just that for 7+ years now, so it's a little late to worry about whether actually holding him accountable for that is "bad for democracy" and we should just "promote healing and unity" by.... leaving this totally unpunished and creating the perfect incentive for him to do it again, I guess. We all saw how Hitler attempted the Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, was barely slapped on the wrist for it, and then went away and totally never came back or did anything in German or world politics again, right? RIGHT?
If, and I repeat if, Trump's deranged fans want to do more than weep and wail and gnash their teeth on Truth Social, then.... all I'm saying is, the DOJ has prosecuted and jailed over a thousand J6 rioters and I'm sure they're willing to do more of them. Also, the guy has spent literally all year getting charged with serious felonies, and have we seen ONE major protest, let alone the "civil war!!!" his insane shitgibbons keep slobbering about? No. No we have not.
Basically, this kind of hand-wringing shifts the blame for any theoretical Disorder!!! to the indictments themselves, rather than everything that Trump and Co. did to EARN those indictments. It is also the fact that the mainstream media only pretends to care about this when it is something they can spin as being Bad for Biden/Democrats; witness the actual CNN chevron about how Trump's Indictments Pose a Problem For Biden!!! So I honestly think there's not much useful to be gained at all by framing it this way, and it does rely mostly on that sense of American exceptionalism mentioned in my last post. So yeah for once, I would like to see the media actually talk about the real reasons why something is happening and who is at fault for any Bad Things that might result (and have already happened for several years). But I will not hold my breath.

Loki is coded as the Other, the outsider, and that coding involves an amalgamation of many things. there are many lenses to look at his character through. there is female coding. queer coding. trans coding. gnc coding. genderfluid coding. jewish coding. minority coding. nd coding. victim of colonization coding. etc etc. and given the history of the way these groups having been treated.... the messaging is. especially pointed and disgusting and not progressive at all. and it's simply not acceptable.

Conservatives miss the decades when Trans People were more ostracized and stigmatized. Conservatives hate that Trans People are allowed in commercials, advertising, television shows, public events, etc. Conservatives hate that Trans People have been normalized. Conservatives hate that Trans People exist.
I do not miss those days. I do not miss the days when Trans People were only allowed on TV to be mocked or to cause revulsion.
Trans People are normal everyday people. They should be allowed to be in commercials, television shows, movies, comics, novels, etc. Just like any other group should be given the same courtesy.

I mean look. Way back in 2002 I worked at a hospital. We were given training on HIPAA. The actual stuff, not what crazy rightwing nutjobs think it is.
One thing we were told was that if someone was diagnosed with an actual problem, they couldn't be told over the phone, they have to come in. Which to me was a recipe for ANXIETY because you could be told, "your labs came back, everything is normal", but not "Your labs came back, you need more Vitamin D" but rather "Your labs came back and you need to come in" - basically "There's a problem, now worry about it for a couple weeks because we won't even tell you what it is".
The reason I was told for this stunningly awful approach was that if someone got diagnosed with cancer or HIV they might commit suicide rather than get treatment and then the hospital could be liable.
I am pretty sure that excuse is nonsense, though.So now, looking back, I wonder what was the real reason?
