How Highly he Thought of You
Tumblr media
Look, I really just want to say that if this is a trial based on Yoda's deepest fears and desires, meaning one of his desires is for Obi-Wan to have known Dooku
If this is how Yoda wants things to be, he wants Dooku to still be with the Jedi and he wants Obi-Wan to know him. Yoda knows Obi-Wan would adore Dooku, he knows that if Dooku was still there, the loss of Qui-Gon might've not ruined him so much, because Dooku would be there and maybe Obi-Wan would've been okay.
Look how Obi-Wan doesn't take his eyes from Dooku, he adores him, he cannot stop smiling and he's just so invested in everything Dooku has to say. This is a child wonderstruck by old stories their Grandfather tells them. This is the Obi-Wan Yoda knows he would be if things hadn't gone how they had. He'd be happy, Yoda sees Obi-Wan's suffering and his strength and loyalty to the Jedi, he sees all that and knows Obi-Wan isn't happy, that he carries such a burden, so in Yoda's utopia there is such an emphasis on Obi-Wan's happiness because it isn't fair for Obi-Wan to suffer so much when he's never strayed from the light.
Yoda knows this, and he knows if he still had those two, Obi-Wan wouldn't suffer so.
Think of Obi-Wan's seat on the council too, we know Dooku was offered a seat and that Qui-Gon was too, then Obi-Wan and Anakin. Their entire (disaster) lineage was offered council seats, perhaps because Yoda, though Jedi cannot form attachments, offered Obi-Wan that seat because of how much it meant for Yoda to have one, one that turned out okay. And maybe Yoda looks at Obi-Wan and sees Qui-Gon, he sees Dooku, and his pain is a little less.
One of my favorite things to do are analysis' like these, if you want to see my take on a certain scenes send a request in perhaps :3

Obi-Wan: Hey, you wanna know a secret? Qui-Gon: No. Obi-Wan: Okay. Qui-Gon: Qui-Gon: Do you smell smoke? Obi-Wan: The secret is that the house is on fire.

I’m reading Master and Apprentice now, and I really need to point out a few things. Mainly, that I have no idea why people use this as basis to claim Qui-Gon was abusive to Obi-Wan. I mean, EXCUSE ME? There’s a vast difference between abusive and unhealthy relationships. Believe me, I know. I’ve been in both. Unhealthy relationships are those that are quite plainly unhealthy on both sides, and it was – though minorly – for both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. They have serious communication issues, mainly because they don’t understand each other and don’t really try to. Plus, they’re Jedi, so they’re NoT SuPpOsEd tO hAvE EmOtIoNs. That complicates everything in name.
Qui-Gon clearly is always fully willing to hear Obi-Wan out on anything, no matter what it is. Even if he’s being very bossy and completely forgetting who’s the padawan and who’s the master, here. I mean, Obi-Wan definitely has the right to his opinions, but he’s being way overly aggressive – as usual – about it. It’s just funny to see that side of him that we’ve barely seen a brief flash of in tPM.
I think one of the things I love most is how it actually put into words what I’ve always known about why the Jedi don’t act to stop slavery. That doesn’t make it right that they don’t help, but they truthfully don’t have the necessarily capabilities or numbers that they’d need.
And I honestly feel bad that my favorite point in the whole thing was when Obi-Wan starts screaming at the walls. ;_;

WIP Wednesday
He had done the things expected of him. There were sacred rituals to be performed, the Jedi way of marking death. He had privately cleaned the body and dressed Obi-Wan in fresh, cream-colored tunics, then shined his boots and combed his hair. He carefully plaited the Learner’s braid, each strand feeling so fragile and soft between his large fingers. When Master Yoda had come, waiting silently in the corner of the room, Qui-Gon recited the declaration of knighthood, and shorn the long braid with his lightsaber.
He could feel the braid in the innermost layer of his tunic now, coiled in a small bundle against his heart, as he stood beside the cooling pyre.
Yoda and Mace Windu approached, hoods tucked around their faces. They bowed to him. Anakin, confused, bowed back.
Yoda made a noise in the back of his throat, clawed hands folded over the gnarled head of the gimer stick. “Honored the Order, young Obi-Wan has. Honored the teachings of his Master. Weaker, the Sith are now. Only the Master remains.”
Qui-Gon felt the truth of it, deep like an ache. He was weakened, as he had never been before. It seemed that the beings around him were still moving, still breathing and still living, eyes bruised but hopeful. For them, the war was over. But Qui-Gon was merely existing in his body, a numb husk, senses dulled. He had called on the Force, as he cradled his Padawan’s broken body on the cold floor of the generator core, summoning all the energy and Light he could muster, but it had not been enough.
And now the Force did not soothe him. He could not touch it without being reminded of what was missing.
“Qui-Gon.”
The deep voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he looked at Mace, who was suddenly standing close to him.
“We’ll take the boy with us back to Coruscant. He needs time to settle.”
It was only then that Qui-Gon noticed he had lost some amount of time; Anakin was no longer beside him, and Master Yoda was gone.
“Alright,” he said.
Mace lingered, studying Qui-Gon’s face. “He was the best of us.” He squeezed Qui-Gon’s shoulder. “May the Force be with you, my friend.”
Qui-Gon returned his gaze to the pyre, the last place he had seen his Padawan. Distantly, he heard retreating footsteps and then, at last, he was alone.

'Desert hermit Ben Kenobi develops a reputation as a crazy wizard because he keeps talking to thin air.'
No. This is Tatooine, talking to yourself is hardly the weirdest thing they've seen. Ben Kenobi, however, keeps having full on fucking screaming rows with thin air and seemingly gets replies back, which is decidedly a step up.
(They've managed to piece together that a major point of contention is the acquisition and raising of a child? Clearly Ben is a wizard that had a bitter divorce with a desert spirit and is working through a custody dispute)

Qui–Gon: Isn't it weird that people kill mosquitoes just because they're annoying? Obi-Wan: If people did that to each other, Vader would've killed me years ago.

Sicktember Day 15
Sick in an Inconvenient Place
Spoiler: This is an excerpt from The Chosen Twins
Anakin Skywalker
“Anakin?” Qui-Gon asks, frowning. “You – ”
“I was just… feeling sick,” I offer, “But it’s going away now.”
“Is it?” Obi-Wan asks, eyeing me too, now.
“Yes.”
“And shouldn’t you be worried about yourself too?” Anika interjects, “You’re looking a little green too.”
“I am not,” he objects.
Why is he being so stubborn about it? Unless he really feels fine, but I really don’t believe that right now. Because Aniya’s not exactly exaggerating. “You haven’t seen your reflection,” I inform him cheerfully.
Obi-Wan coughs before he can deny it. “What’s the situation with the speeder?” he asks impatiently, cutting me off before I can say anything else.
“It won’t be going anywhere, Master,” I reply.
“We don’t have the parts to fix it either,” Aniya adds.
“Then we’ll have to go on foot,” Qui-Gon decides.
“That will be a very long walk, and they’ll be long gone by then,” Obi-Wan argues, crossing his arms.
“We don’t have any other method of transport right now,” Qui-Gon reminds.
“It’s going to be dark soon,” he adds, grumpily..
“Then instead of whining, maybe we should get started, right?” Aniya chirps, snippily.
“Good point,” I agree, “Come on, Master. It can’t be that bad.” Although, if he’s still feeling sick, maybe it can be that bad. Though I don’t know why he’d be reacting so much differently than me.Obi-Wan still doesn’t look too happy about it, but we start walking across the endless stretches of grass. I can’t say I’m overly excited to walk this far either, considering that it’s getting late and we’ll never get back to town in time – there’s dangerous creatures out here at night. But there’s no use whining about it. We just need to move.

oooo what about K and V?
K:  Do you have a guilty pleasures in fic (reading or writing)?
My guilty pleasure in writing is just letting myself wallow in the hurt/comfort with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, particularly with Obi-Wan being hurt and Qui-Gon being protective. Mmmmm. I will write it over and over and sometimes I do feel guilty about that. But yes it brings me unparalleled pleasure. For reading, my guilty pleasure is definitely outrageous Qui/Obi filth. Especially if it's written by Anonymous, because that usually means it's extra filthy.
V: Are there certain comments you’ve received on your stories that have stuck with you?
I've had a few comments from people who remember me from my boards.theforce.net/fanfiction.net days and those really touch my heart, that they would remember my fics from so long ago.
Thank you for the asks, friend <3
