Parallels
Or
Seeing Patterns in Things that Aren’t There
Part 16
Dead Gods and Empty Shells.
1. The Owl House (2019-2023) (fuck you Disney!)
“I think King said it best once. “I am both king and queen. Best of both things. Haha. But “Dad” works just fine.” - Papa Titan. - Watching and Dreaming.
2. Bionicle (generation 1) (2001-2010)
“But you are looking at an empty shell, the remains of what might have been a great ruler, the guardian of his people.” - Mata Nui. - The Legend Reborn.
This is probably the most obvious one yet. But I had to make it since I saw the TOH finale in April.
As soon as I saw it I was shocked beyond belief, but in a good way. I cried and the similarities brought back all kinds of old memories.
I wasn’t expecting it.
I’m only getting to it now because I was busy.
The Titan’s corpse would form the Boiling Isles and it’s people would form their settlements in and around his remains.
While the prototype robot built by the Great Beings would eventually lay the foundations for the villages and homes of the Agori tribes after the first experiment went to shit and the robot blew up.
And in turn the successor to the prototype, the Great Spirit robot (housing Mata Nui’s consciousness) would house the Matoran Universe and its inhabitants.
The similarities are most likely a coincidence.
I think…
Make of that what you will.
Feel free to reblog if you want.

Takutanuva was a character I was never quite satisfied with in his varied looks across the Bionicle franchise, so the other night at work I found myself doodling ideas for what he might look like if he ever showed up when I did Bionicle stuff =)
Also did a review of Bionicle if anyone wants to watch that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slpHB4OLWTA
More stuff's in my gallery: https://www.deviantart.com/warahi/gallery

Talking To *A* God (Not *The* God)
Tumblr media
I know there's a very niche number of people who'll get this (fewer still who'll find it funny 😅), but I felt this was funny enough to post.

Being Ackar must be Wack at One Point
Imagine being Ackar, fighting battles on a regular basis for hundred of thousands of years (even moreso after Malum left to become a sand hippie), wasting away as he collects trophies as to not turn insane from the looming hopelessness of Bara Magna and being the only reliable fire Glatorian that Vulcanus has to offer. He'd prolly accepted his fate of being struck down by Strakk and finally relieved from his duties as it would mean the Agori would further lost faith in him, when a stranger with golden-yellow paint, with a beetle (basically unusual color scheme and idt it exists in any other tribes) intervenes and performs what can only be described as magic. The stranger then refuses their victory and sticks with him until he gets home.
Further down the line the stranger transforms your rusty sword to imbue it with powers that only the Elements Lords has wielded as of yet. The stranger then also proposes to link up all the villages and then do reckless quests, speaking of legends such as The Great Beings and Great Spirit Robots. Also spoke of how something akin to an evil god will make its way to the land. Then they brought a cube and transforms into a giant freaking robot.
Another freaking bigger giant robot arrives. With minions pouring out of its toes. What.
Another stranger with your color scheme wearing golden armor, possibly with nonsensical alien biology arrives and then blasts the yellow minions away into their empty shells. Your first stranger, now a friend, smashes one of the freaking moon (or a very big flying rock, depending on your preferred canon) into the second giant robot. Then they start to bring life into your barren world, plants that you don't even know of, water that both the Agori and Glatorian fights for bursts in unthinkable quantity, creatures chirping and making noises its deafening compared to the deathly silence that everyone is used to.
Also your yellow friend is now a talking mask and decided to be comatose.

I was planning on finishing these but 😭 As a child I had a very few selection of movies as CDs that I would watch over and over again, and I've noticed my favourites included these guys, who were my fav characters! Which I think is how my obsession with robots started! They all mean a lot to me 💖💖💖

Lil update to the Mata Nui head bust, thought I'd add in some LEDs! The eyes were pretty tricky to fit in, and I'm not sure about the light on the base, but it's so nice to have those lights in the eyes!

2009 is all about Click.
Click is a scarabax beatle, one of thousands in a swarm. Infinitely smaller then the glatorian. He's treated like his life doesn't matter, a nameless part of the horde. Symbolically, Click is everyone in the matoran universe.
Enter Mata Nui. Upon their first meeting, Mata Nui could crush him with a single step. But instead, he stops and apologizes and then Click saves his life. The reason Mata Nui doesn't is because to his old self, not only is he an insect but all of the matoran universe inhabitants are too. Small, insignificant and that's what toppled Mata Nui the first time(1).
This gets repeated in Journey's End, where Kiina says that to Mata Nui in the second robot, the "glatorian will look like scarabax with as much in common," but that could never be true, because to Mata Nui everyone matters, which is why he spared Click. Ignoring that is why the plot happened.

After much scouring of the TFWiki, There's no set canon size for unicron (Not counting bayverse/aligned continuities)
So.
Great Spirit Robot from bionicle is 40 million feet high, or 12,000km give or take.
I saw one figure for armada unicron that said he was 10,000km tall, but there was no citation.
He's probably taller than that
but still. The idea of Unicron getting sucker punched by Mata Nui is just.
Delightful.

A Bohrok‘s duty
For some time now I was quite bothered by the fact that the only apparent task the Bohrok has was shaving the robot. It seemed like a weak reason for av-matoran to lose all their autonomy and consciousness in masses. Sure it’s creepy and makes 02 with the dead matoran mecs very weird. But other than that, i feel like the Bohrok aren’t doing enough even tho their ONE task is quite important.
So I’m not sure if that’s canon or not but what if the hive is also responsible for creating the camouflage? Would explain why it was there so quickly
But also what if the Bohrok are there to maintain the outer hull of the robot. Cleaning it up. So in conclusion. The hive is there to camouflage the robot and scrub its outer shell. Can’t have the thing rust or have other problems with its frame
I could also imagine Va and a small swarm of Bohrok are send out to gather resources on foreign planets, because I can’t imagine the great spirit robot being able to pick up smaller things with his big mecha claws
