Hello, May! You know what that means? It's the Month of May-bel yet again!

This is a month long celebration of Gravity Falls' most unique and lovable sweater wearing and pig loving girl!

I've hosted May-bel month since 2020 and while I retired from hosting it last year, I figured I'd at least help get the ball rolling again.

For the 2023 May-bel Month, the choice is yours! Draw, write, cosplay or do whatever you want with Mabel how you please.

Draw fanart of Mabel how you wanna, free of any weekly theme. Write about Mabel how you want, free of any specific way of doing so. The freedom is yours this year on how you wanna show Mabel the love and respect she deserves!

You can make fanart, write a story, cosplay, DIY, make an edit, etc. Whatever you choose, be sure to stay SFW, and of course, have fun.

🧵 ACNH Able Sisters Store Set 🪡

Sims 4, Base game compatible | 48 Now 51 items

(added the awning, chimney, and the stairs as a deco item with no footprint)

All the items you'll need to recreate The Able Sisters cute little shop in your TS4 game. All items came with only 1 swatch each. There are a few items that I added a couple of extra swatches for.

As always, turning the brightness down on functional lamps will make them look better (not overly bright) due to my vertex paint issue in Blender.

Type “ACNH Able” into the search query in build mode to find quickly. You can always find items like this, just begin typing the title and it will appear.

Use the raise & lower keyboard cheat to put your already styled mannequins onto the displays. The displays have slots, but mannequins will only let you place them on the floor, and won't allow styling once they have been raised, so make sure to do that first. They only need to be raised 1-2 notches depending on which display you are placing them on.

Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses.

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 30. Duck

Day 30. Duck Crossover: DuckTales "Let's split up," said Scrooge McDuck. Because what could go wrong? :D

In his "youth", Scrooge McDuck had so many adventures, sometimes accompanied by teenage Donald and Della Duck, that I assume they may have ventured into an abandoned, strange animation studio in the 1960s... Whenever I think about Della and Donald's past, I imagine her as a carefree, hyperactive girl running forward screaming "adventure" - and him as a sensible, prepared for everything, skeptical young man. Please don't deny my imaginations.

I love DuckTales. I watched this cartoon when I was a little girl - I even had a radio play based on a time travel episode on cassette. I learned to draw characters and their expressions using Donald Duck newspapers, using the tracing method on the glass. Comics about Donald was probably first I ever made. Donald Duck, his large family and, above all, Scrooge, whom I adored - this was a large part of my early childhood. Unfortunately, unlike W.I.T.C.H. my huge collection of Donald Duck and Gigants issues didn't survive - one day I discovered that my mother simply took everything and gave it to some library, hospital or simply threw it into the trash. I was very sorry :c

Let's talk about the DuckTales reboot for a moment. Generally, as an huge fan of various things, I am often quite skeptical about new products, reboots or new series and I'm strict in my assessment. Sometimes I will get into a new series, but often I will say "it's not as good as the original" (because very often it's not). But in the case of DuckTales, I think the reboot is wonderful. The characters have been refreshed, the nephews have gained individuality, Donald Duck has gained a much nicer character (just like Daisy). Sometimes a little voice inside me says "wait a minute, no, it was different in the canon" - but then I say to myself "but this is a different canon." There are three things that irritate me and I can't forgive for the reboot. The first one is Gyro. What the hell did they do to him? Where is my lovable, overworked scientist, too polite and gentle to refuse Scrooge a job for a miserable salary? No, Gyro is terrible in the reboot, I hate every single second of the show with him on the screen. The second one is Magica de Spell. Why is she completely, absolutely and totally evil? This was not the Magica whose adventures I read and loved! What did they do to her? Where is Magica's love for family (i.e. her niece)? Where's Magica, who treats Scrooge as her frenemy? Where's Magica, who cries her sorrows to her broom and is bound by a cursed fate to Number One Dime? They made her the main villain, completely leaving out cool criminals like the Beagle Boys! And the last one, but I should actually start with this... a drawing style. This one repels me. These square heads and crude drawing style irritate me terribly. But then I saw a new series of classic Disney cartoons featuring Donald, Mickey and Goofy - and I realized that there are worse drawn things. Of course, there are still a few things that irritate me, but I often dismiss them - and I enjoy watching the reboot.

Finally, I will just say that although I really like the past of the characters in the reboot, I am irritated by Della's character. I do not like her. Maybe it has to do with the fact that, being a mother myself, I give my child the highest priority - a woman abandoning her tiny children to satisfy her ambitions is something incomprehensible to me - I have neither respect nor pity for Della and I believe that family (or at least her children) should reject her and be unwilling to forgive her. I know that's a cruel opinion. I haven't watched the entire series, but the episodes I've seen of her return irritated me. I admire Donald's composure. I would probably totally beat up my sister if I were in his place. Della also annoys me in all the episodes with her and Donald's past. She's almost as annoying as Mabel from Gravity Falls.

Well, it seems we're not getting a canon name! I guess she's our daughter now. I haven't decided whether I'm going to maintain this list going forward (though for my own sanity I'm leaning towards no) but at least it's fully up to date as of 7:30 pm est today (May 31, 2023).

Some "final" statistics: The numbers aren’t perfect, because there were a few names I grouped together and probably should have counted separately, and a few names I counted separately and probably should have grouped together, and those may or may not have balanced out, but keeping that in mind, about 110 names were used! About 49 were used in multiple fics (including individual installments in several series) and about 35 of those were used by multiple authors. Trent’s daughter has been mentioned by name in about 298 fics by 149 authors. This includes works in which she’s mentioned but doesn’t show up as a character, but doesn’t account for works in which her existence is mentioned but not by name. Fun fact, about 21 new names were used just while season three was airing!

The Disappearance of Mabel Crumback

September 29, 2023

Mabel Crumback was born in 1931 and was just 19 years old when she went missing on May 28, 1950. Mabel lived in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at 661 Willard Ave with her parents and two brothers.

The last person to have seen her alive, her boyfriend, Jim Bryan, told police he left the home at 12:30 am, after dropping Mabel off from a date they went on. Jim claimed that Mabel had indeed walked into her house.

Mabel's parents were in Detroit, Michigan, for a wedding at the time, and Mabel's brother Bruce was not home. The only other person in the house would have been Mabel's 8 year old brother, Gary.

Jim returned to the home the next day for dinner, but Mabel was nowhere to be found. Gary said he woke up Sunday morning to his sister being missing.

However, it is also reported that Gary claimed to have heard thumping noises on the floor and by the cellar stairs in the middle of the night. Gary also said he woke at 2 am and heard what he thought was a dog barking and Mabel and some mens voices.

At the same time, around 2am, neighbours reported hearing loud noises and a scream coming from the Crumback's home. Another neighbour reported they saw three strange men parked in a car in the area.

There were 2 doors to the house -- both doors were found to be unlocked and the door facing St. John Road was open as well. Mabel's mother said she would have never left the door open like that. The lights were left on in the kitchen and Mabel's room.

The investiation determined that Mabel had slept in her bed at some point that night. Mabel's father claimed she did not have any money, as a motive or a key to the house to give someone. Mabel's purse was left in her room and had money in it.

Mabel's pyjama bottoms were neatly folded under her pillow, but the pyjama top was never found. Mabel had taken a red and black plaid shirt, blue plaid skirt, and a pair of black suede shoes.

There was no evidence of a struggle or violence in the house, it's very likely that Mabel went off with someone she knew.

There have supposedly been many sightings of Mabel, though nothing has ever been confirmed. One sighting was of a young girl in distress pleading to a tourist camp operator for help in Ancaster, Ontario on June 9, 1950. The girl apparently claimed she was being forced to go with a man she did not want to go with.

The man was around 6 feet tall and had a cleft lip. The young girl had bleach blonde hair -- Mabel had black hair. Her clothing did not match was Mabel might've had with her when she disappeared. The girl also appeared to be drugged. The operator ignored her pleas for help.

Mabel's parents moved out of the house and lived in Guelph for a while, before moving again to Wellington. Both of them are deceased and it is unclear if either of Mabel's brothers are alive or where they might be.

According to some sources, over the years, Mabel's brothers' families rejected being interviewed on the manner as they wanted to forget about it.

The Month of May-bel 2023 has officially ended. I wanna thank all the artists, fanfic writers and more who participated this year.

This time around it was a much smaller event without the weekly themes. This stemmed mainly from the fact that I retired from hosting the event last year but as no one else had chosen to host it and the only other one being on Tumblr, I figured I'd do it again, but this time let the fandom do what they wanted. And as you can see, the range of work is incredible!

You all did an amazing job and I cannot thank you all enough for your hard work and effort. You all did Mabel proud.

IDK if I'll host it again in 2024, or if I'll even still be active in the fandom in 2024. But for my 4th year hosting the event, I am happy to say it was another success. Thank you again, everyone <3

Ch200 (p2), Controlled media

So, we start with how ch199 ends: Finny explaining that the organization that runs the orphanage collects human blood.

The top Mastiff kid, Artie, shows just how much he's like Polaris here... quite hard-headed and ready to fight.

I hoped that the top kids knew something, anything, about the blood collection, but they were completely unaware of it. They didn't even know about what happened at Sphere Music Hall. Artie, training as a butler, irons the newspaper every morning, but he never saw those articles. I'm reminded that Sebastian and Mr. Pitt actually published their scoop in a smaller, independent publication, not the London Times. However, there might have eventually been some coverage there, too.

Theo is the one who realizes the papers have been lightweight some days, though, and he asks where the papers come from. Of course, the staff gets to the papers first and removes anything they don't what the kids to read or see. Truth be told, they probably didn't even get The Penny Illustrated Paper the day Mr. Pitt's photo of the bouncers made front page.

And Finny points out that customers at the music hall were divided into four groups, just like at the orphanage.

Mabel says the place has never drawn blood from them, but Oliver recalls how they had to get a blood test when they arrived at the orphanage. How they were split by aptitude. It's odd he says "mentioned something about aptitude"... when they talk about aptitude pretty much every day. 😏 Artie is still a non-believer, since they took blood for that test only once; they haven't been bled since.

Theo also finds it hard to believe, but he's not the fool that Artie seems more and more to be, regardless of his claims to the contrary.
