Eleksyon 2022!
Call me crazy, but I cried a little when I read my voting receipt. This is how it feels pala! Voting for someone you actually believe in. What a foreign concept. I feel like I have been drifting through life turning up in my precinct (and my old grade school) every few years to vote the lesser evil, until someone actually fit to be president came along.
What a roller coaster. Hindi man ako pumunta sa rallies (mga Takot sa Tao for Leni), it still feels good to be part of a revolution, a part of history. Highs: the spirit of volunteerism palpable, seeing an organic support base quadruple before your very eyes. Lows: unfriending people, especially close friends you no longer see eye to eye with. This campaign period is like no other, it's history in the making, and there is no one else who has inspired this kind of difference, this hunger for truth and real change (not the fake one that the older Duterte sold to 16 million Filipinos in 2016), than a widow from Naga.
The las time I prayed this fervently, my grandfather was on his deathbed. Last night I was wide awake, for the first time since becoming a voter in 2009 excited to come to the polls, and I whispered a disclaimer to God "Ok I know I have not prayed in a while..." I'm no longer religious, but I still believe, and I cannot imagine a world where a righteous God would allow a prayerful country go through another Marcos in power. The Philippines is waking from its stupor. Hope springs.

hi its me after days of election breakdown im back to give my 2cents about this whole clownery
I am telling you now that if you click that read more there's going to be a long rant ahead, but at the same time please do read and spread awareness, we badly need it
Philippine Election 2022 is a joke
In the first place Bongbong Marcos SHOULDN'T even be allowed to file COC for this election. You're telling me someone who has a lot of cases against him eligible to run for the highest position in our country? What a fucking joke.
but ofc because of their connections all of the appeal for his disqualification were trashed and he was allowed to run.
Despite all that you would think that Filipinos would be in their right mind and not vote someone who's a criminal and doesn't have a concrete platform nor credentials right?
lmao wrong
I don't blame them, this is the result of years of whitewashing and manipulation of information in our textbooks. People were made to believe that Martial Law was a golden era. If you want to know the truth, you have to dig deeper yourself.
Still, the youth is woke and wouldn't vote for him right?
That's right but democracy is a fucking joke here
People in comelec (commission on election), were appointed by our current president. Said president is the father of bbm's vice president, Sarah Duterte. Aside from this Imme marcos, bbm's sister, also hold a position there.
So you see how much of an advantage they have
Unfortunately it doesn't end there. Let me list some of the things that happened during the election
There were a lot of broken VCMs. People were made to make a decision to either wait or leave their balots to the people there
For those who waited for the SD cards they were waiting FOR HOURS, I even saw places who stayed for more than 24hrs just to exercise their right to vote.
People were killed and there were evidences and reports of vote buying
Despite having a very slow connection, the partial and unofficial count came so fast. And don't even get me started on the consisted 47% they have showed throughout the count (a straight linear graph? seriously?) and them saying that they see nothing wrong with it
and so many more
But still Comelec has the audacity to say that this election was peaceful? what a load of crap
You know what's more annoying about this whole thing? International articles
Why do they gotta emphasized the landslide? Why do they make it seem that all of us wanted this? I know we're clowns right now, we're the whole fucking circus yes. But this country didn't just stand down and took it.
As if there weren't protests about the whole thing
As if it really was clean democracy that made this whole thing happen
I would love to be proven wrong. I would like to swallow all my words during this election period and say to his supporters "you were right his a decent leader, maybe i judged him hastily" but if we were right and this country goes even more downhill, I am taking everyone of you accountable
That being said, I encourage everyone to please spread awareness. Many are already being red-tagged (red-tagging, for those who don't know, refers to the malicious blacklisting of individuals or organizations critical or not fully supportive of the actions of a sitting government administration in the country. This can lead to an individual being killed.) Our country is on the brink of being under martial law once again. Bbm hasn't even won yet but violence is already prevailing to the people trying to speak up.
and for my fellow Pinoys.
Nakakasawa at nakakapagod ipagkaban kasi parang paulit-ulit nalang. Ngunit wag tayong titigil, ipagpalalaban pa din. Magpapahinga pero hindi susuko
never again
dont ever forget

I will never regret voting for you, VP Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. With clean conscience, I can say that I supported the good among the evils and lesser evils.
No matter what the final and official results yield, I know I did the right thing.
Maraming salamat, VP Leni at Sen. Kiko. 🇵🇭

Hi Ate! I hope you don't mind me bringing this up, and you don't have to answer this either way, but—50 years na ang nakaraan mula unang idineklara ni Marcos ang Martial Law sa Pilipinas. Kamusta ka? How are we feeling?
Ever since the results of the 2022 elections were announced, galit na galit at takot na takot ako para sa mga kapwa nating Pilipinong nakatira sa Pilipinas, lalo na kung iisipin ko nandon ang karamihan ng kaibigan at kamag-anak ko. And I can't even begin to imagine kung anong pinagdadaanan ngayon ng mga biktima ng panunupil ng rehime ni Marcos at ng mga pamilya nila. There's just no words that can fully encompass this heavy-heartedness.
I've been playing your game periodically these past few months to cope, so I wanted to thank you for that as well! I just hope that you and any other Filipino who might be reading this are also doing what you can to survive in this period of struggle, regardless of how much it directly impacts you. And despite everything, patuloy ang pakikibaka laban sa tiranya, and I think from here on out lalakas lang ng lalakas ang pagtindig ng sambayanang Pilipino 🇵🇭❤️
it really lightens my heart that you play eye of the moon to help soothe. that's really what it is for me too, a way to just appreciate and imagine our culture and history and geography without the real life consequences of spanish colonization and us imperialism. admittedly my writing process for eotm is slow because while i'm researching and creating, i'm unpacking a lot of these feelings too and intently considering what i want to say and how i want it to manifest and resonate with the contemporary audiences engaging with the work.
heavy-heartedness is definitely the right word to describe my sentiments towards the election results as well. it seems like every time i see the marcos' name i discover some sort of new historic atrocity. i have relatives in the philippines that were speaking up about how the marcoses stole fishing land from our family and then when they were done completely ruining it they just abandoned it completely.
though despair weighs heavily in our hearts, so can our solidarity and our will. i think ma'am leni said it best:

hello everyone !! this is probably an overdue announcement already lmao but i think it's for my peace of mind as well because i feel guilty for being shit at interacting for the past months. (this is not me leaving tumblr btw, just lessening interactions and trying to recover from a burnout) navigation.
i don't usually like talking about things that are going on in my life because this is a safe space for me to get away from the shit happening in reality but as much as i want to escape it, it will always catch up.
the last time i posted a fic and properly interacted here was december 2021. since then, life has been a constant turmoil for the past 5 months. you may or may not know, but it's the national and local elections here in the philippines (in just a few days actually). because of that, the lives and future of millions of filipinos are so unsure. and before i am anything else, i am a filipino first.
can you imagine the son of a dictator that selfishly ruled the philippines for over 20 years, plunged my country into billions in debt (that we're still paying to this day), committed heinous crimes against humanity, and many more atrocities actually having the chance to rule over the land once more? it's absolutely sickening—how history has been easily forgotten, how historical revisionism is their main goal.
it's not an exaggeration but the 2022 elections are a do or die, now or never, good vs evil moment. the whole world is watching every move we make, trying to see if we filipinos are truly a forgiving, gullible, stupid culture or if we filipinos are hungry for change, good governance, and can fight against a political dynasty that will ruin our very democracy. they are the marcos family.
we have a good fighting chance, actually. it's why the stakes are so high. there's a woman that emerged from the ashes of disinformation, heckles, negative campaigning, and every other shit they threw against her. she is leni robredo, the lone female presidential candidate. the only one who is qualified to lead the country and lift us from the despair we've been living in for over six years. the best man for the job is a woman, and with her, we can clearly see the hope that we have been desperately longing for.
indeed, the future is female.
standing by her side is kiko pangilinan, the only man qualified to be her vice president. he is running against the daughter of our current president, the president that sowed hate and discord within the hearts of filipinos, grew troll farms, and committed crimes against humanity with his extrajudicial killings for six years. they are the duterte family.
but i digress, because of everything that is going on, i can't be the person that i like on this website. i'll still be here, lurking and probably reblogging art and fics when i feel like it but i've turned off my asks because i feel overwhelmed. i don't know when i'll really go back to writing and interacting, but this is me for now.
i hope that this time next week, life will be different. but the good kind of different, the good different that every filipino deserves.
if you want to know more, i'll be leaving some links below.
the marcos revival || international criminal court goes after duterte's drug war || who is leni robredo || the last man standing is a woman || bakit si leni? (why leni) || who is kiko pangilinan || bakit si kiko? (why kiko) ||
mabuhay at laban pilipinas, bayan kong minamahal.

LABAN LENI 2022 Mas radikal and magmahal sa kulay rosas na bukas
i. I am craving for more human interactions lately, and there is no better way to achieve this than to be a volunteer for a great cause. Besides, I really fucking want (and need) a change in this shithole of a country and I do believe that Leni Robredo, this coming election’s best presidential candidate, could do that. So, on the first day of March, I signed up to be a campaign volunteer here in my town and I’ve never been so happy. Let’s do this! Fight tyranny!
ii. I am not proud to say this but when I was younger, I was a bit apolitical. Cut to today, I am very happy to have finally found that spark in my heart to love my country and my people – especially the oppressed. I have realized that every fucking thing is political and one must make a stand. I am a bit late, but I am here now. I am ready to fight with all of you, for a better Philippines.
iii. It was my first time to attend a political rally in my whole life. And I was glad that it was for Leni Robredo’s campaign. The energy of her people’s campaign is really different, unique, and outstanding. You can really feel the love, the kindness. It is truly giving passion, compassion and power to the people. Whatever happens, I will always be proud to support Leni Robredo and the whole Tropang Angat in this journey.

Title of the News Article : ‘Tuloy ang laban,’ PH celebs say online after initial election results
• Article Category
- Pvblic Life
• Date of Publication
- May 11, 2022
• Author/ Creator (Content Creator)
- Alexis Calub
Summary of the Article,
Action star Robin Padilla leads the Senate race. Some online users share that they want to migrate abroad after seeing the initial results. Others said that they're still willing to fight for the country. Actress Angel Locsin said she witnessed a different kind of passion as a supporter of VP Leni Robredo's candidacy. She also said that she was proud to have fought beside her fellow volunteers in the campaign. 'Piliin pa rin natin ang Pilipinas,' she said. On Twitter, vice presidential candidate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan's daughter, Kakie, said, 'It's ok. Tuloy ang laban'. There were also numerous personalities who let out their frustrations, but also tried shedding a ray of hope.
Reflection:
I know that the Philippines has been undergoing many issues in the field of political, economic and social life of people. Where many people in this country are still unfamiliar with corruption and human rights, that raises the possibility of having a flawed justice system and poor economic growth. One of those issues is the run up election 2022, where there is not just a competition between the two presidential candidates who are Vice President Leni Robredo and Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., but also their alliances, which some of them are making a rally for and have them become eager to have the victory of their representative. Regardless of who wins the election, the people will have to accept whoever wins the election. Don't exaggerate about migrating abroad, be mature enough and just continue to fight against the biggest threat to our country and remain hopeful.

Painting PH: The Colors of Philippine Politics
When it comes to politics, colors are powerful tools used to send a message without even  saying anything at all. In the Philippines, there is perhaps nothing more colorful than the Filipinos’ bright smiles and festivities, but the season of electing the next leaders of the nation.
Specific colors have been used to represent universal values across the globe for political parties that uphold the same beliefs. In the country, colors also play a huge role in building public trust and promoting a sense of unity and belongingness among voters as they act to appeal to the shared emotions of the public. These colors amplify a politician’s impact through appearance-associated desires and carefully curated images that are enough to hold a strong political stance.
In some countries like the United States and the United Kingdom, blue and red remains the colors of politics as a reflection of the predominantly two-party electoral system that remains until today, wherein the color blue is often associated with the conservative traditionalist parties, while red is for socialist democrats and, in other cases, labor-communist unions. However, for other countries with a multi-party system like India, Indonesia, and Korea, the colors yellow for center-left liberals, green for environmental and Islamic nationalists, orange for pro-market libertarians, white for independent two-side ideologists who balance a neutrality between the conservatives and the liberals, and purple for feminist and centrist parties have also been used to signify a stance towards specific causes and ideologies that certain politicians endorse in their campaigns and platforms.
The same observation can be made for the Philippines, being another country with a multi-party electoral system in Asia. In the past decades, while red nationalists in the likes of the pro-Marcoses and yellow liberals like the Aquino loyalists have shared dominance over the colors of politics, many other parties and personalities like the orange Villars, white and green Loren Legarda camps, and the purple and yellow trademark colors of Riza Hontiveros, to name a few, have risen to political popularity in recent years. However, the dichotomy made by the two influential families has continued to persist even though the Marcoses have not gained a position in Malacanang since 1986. But still, in every election, the battle of the red nationalists and yellow liberals continue through a new generation of politicians bred in the same system to succeed one after another.
Before yellow covered a good portion of the nation, there has only been one hue in the Philippines which is the deep red of the first and oldest party in the Philippines, the Nacionalista Party, founded in 1902. The Nacionalista Party is also the party of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos whose downfall was brought about by the power of the people with Cory Aquino as one of the key figures. Cory Aquino was the wife of Benigno Aquino Jr., Liberal Party bet and known opposition to the Marcos regime who was assassinated during Martial Law. As the dichotomy continued in the previous presidencies, the rift between the yellow and red was reinforced within the successive terms of Noynoy Aquino and Rodrigo Duterte from PDP-Laban, a democratic socialist party that is also represented by the color red. However, this coming election, it is pink that is quickly becoming the “color of change ”.
VP Leni Robredo announced her candidacy for presidency and chose the color pink to represent her party – a departure from the traditional yellow she dons as she enters the 2022 presidential elections as an independent candidate. Pink, associated with the delicacy of femininity, is rarely regarded as strong, but as cultures around the world changed, it affected how society formed a new view on femininity as a symbol of strength and courage. While the idea of Robredo in pink seems to be an attempt to diffuse the polarization of the opposition and the Duterte administration, it is also a conscious attempt to focus her campaign on her individuality, rather than on the mixed legacy of her previous party. Pink’s association with gentleness is also a sharp turn from traditional politics, especially from Duterte who implemented a macho-fascist style of leadership. But as the supporters on the pink camp continue to gain numbers, the red is persistent for a challenge.
This presidential election, two candidates, completely different in political beliefs, are growing in popularity. One of them is Bongbong Marcos, son of the former dictator, and the other, labor-leader and activist Ka Leody De Guzman. The use of red is primarily associated with the Marcoses because of its ties to the Nacionalista Party, but the widespread reemergence of red as a color to represent the plight of the masses through Ka Leody’s campaign is going back to the roots of red as the color of revolution. The progressives from the left-wing and communists wear the color red to symbolize the fight for liberation and freedom that elicit a strong feeling of courage, love, and sacrifice from revolutionaries. As a labor-leader, the color red also represents the power of the masses in Ka Leody’s candidacy to whom he calls to end elitism and the corrupt political system in the country.
The existence of two completely contradicting reds in the current landscape of Philippine politics, although completely common in the United States, can bring confusion to the public. This is due to the fact that the Nacionalista red disguises themselves as a pro-country party b has a majority voters from the rural areas of the country, while the revolutionary red represents pro-people advocacies that often get misrepresented in the mainstream media and labeled by the government as terrorists. Because of this, the causes of the revolution that would benefit the whole of the nation gets undermined by the greater public due to the rampant attack and blatant misinformation.
The multi-party political system in the country which makes the elections as colorful as it is with different party colors bannered throughout the Philippines, along with the identity politics that come into play during the electoral season produces rather a spectacle. Instead of actually being helpful in providing the Filipinos with a number of options to choose who forwards an agenda that genuinely benefits the general public, this facade makes the color clashing more of an entertainment and less of a matter that should be taken seriously. Most importantly, the multi-party electoral system harms the nation in such a way that it provides the nation with a false sense of individuality among politicians that share the same ideals but chose to join a different partylist to gain personal and political benefit for themselves.
The multi-party system provides the Filipinos with an illusion of choice, masking politicians with the same values and intentions with different colors when they, in fact, have the same principles and go around about the same circle of influences as they came from almost identical walks of life – the upper class. This system seems to be more individualistic with little to no regard for real unity to establish genuine reforms necessary to change the systems that impede the betterment and compromise the quality of life of the Filipinos as more often than not, different parties that exist are just a subgroup of another to have more chances of occupying government positions. With this, it is valid and necessary to question and assess the intentions of a politician, no matter what color they represent as the multi-party political system only hides the miniscule differences these political parties actually have between them.
It is indeed important to ponder on whether the country is better off with a two-party system, or whether the multi-party system is working in its favor just right, but it shall never be forgotten that no matter who the politician is and no matter what color they choose to represent themselves, it is imperative to be critical and vigilant at all times for the sake of the Filipino people. It is crucial to elect leaders that are ready to serve the people with good intent and integrity, and leaders who shall uphold the rights of its constituents at all costs with unwavering regard for the improvement of the quality of life of the whole nation, especially this Halalan 2022 and after. And with elections nearing and political colors getting more saturated as May 9th approaches, remember that there is no color more revolutionary than the true red of the Filipino people.

October 2021 after the VP declared her candidacy, Twitterverse and Leni groups were scrambling to put together an effective campaign. Maraming slogan akong nabasa, may catchy, may pilit. I remember one tweet overanalyzing a BBM ad, correctly commenting that his campaign tugs at heartstrings, something early Leni campaign wasn't able to do kasi heavy on data ng mga nagawa na niya sa Congress at OVP (akalain mong detrimental pala minsan kapag maraming nagawa).
That was 7 months ago, and now Leni's is the most impressive campaign I've seen. I've been a voter for 12 years. I've seen dancing half-naked women on sorties. I've heard every horrendously plagiarized campaign jingle. I've even seen a business magnate swim in trash and bring out his MMK tearjerker story to get presidential votes. I've never seen a campaign this creative, this volunteer-driven. Kids spilling out on the streets yelling at the top of their lungs that their vote is for decency, for the country, for their future. Tricycle drivers replacing their BBM tarps for Leni-Kiko's. Leni spending 10 minutes each rally reading every funny placard. Volunteers flooding eskinitas and villages with their H2H paraphernalia, turning the other cheek on all the "leni lugaw" remarks. And my personal favorite: flash mobs in malls, hospitals, in Krus na Ligas!
Leni beat Marcos Jr. in 2016 despite being virtually a nobody without fanfare and the massive support she enjoys today. She beat his machinery not once, but three times, and she can do it again. 5 days left. Make it count.

I know I promised to write after midterms week, and I really want to write something. If I can I want to write three fics at once because I miss it so much
But unfortunately our country's situation is bad so I can't. I'm sorry but though I tried, I can't focus on anything else right now. Hence why I'm probably going to be inactive for a while
So I'm going to focus on my country first because our future is in danger. Yes, there's hope for the official count hasn't been tallied yet, still, there's already so much red tagging that's happening to my fellow pinoys
If you can, I'm asking you to please spread the news of what's going on here, help us let the world know.

Metro Manila, Philippines

Ramos, Crismae T. | Activity #8 Testimonial Narrative
Tumblr media

Elections 2022
Leni's entire campaign was like what I felt during the speeches and gatherings I attended in Ateneo each time: hopeful, like there I could trust and belong in a community where there is integrity, honesty, and love for everyone, the country and God.
Everyone said it was a feeling only afforded to the privileged. How sad that we had that one chance to make it available and accessible to every Filipino today, but we're all going to bed, once again, robbed of a dream that was already at arms length.

The usual arguments
Posted this on my personal Facebook (it’s on private, so searching for the text won’t help), but I’m sharing it here too.
The fact: BBM supporters have made their minds up and won't listen to any facts and reasoned arguments. Their responses are just so very predictable:
"Maraming nagawa si Marcos," as if it's something we should be grateful for when a president should be working to improve people's lives and as if Ferdinand Marcos is the same person as his son.
"The sins of the father are not the sins of the son," which is curious, because they're pro-Marcos and yet, they think he's a sinner and his son is better than he is...?
"Hindi ka pa naman buhay no'n, hindi mo alam ang totoo," as if there is no such thing as learning about history and as if it's WRONG for people to study the past.
"Let history be the judge," as if history hasn't already made its judgment.
"Ah basta, BBM ako," as if that's enough and we don't need to learn and demand more from who could potentially lead the country.
"Laban lang naman yan ng mga Aquino at Marcos, wag nga nilang dinadamay ang buong bansa," as if the entire country didn't suffer under Martial Law and this was just a petty squabble between two powerful families.
I'm sure I missed many of their usual arguments, though this list isn't meant to be extensive. It's just exhausting reading the same tired, false responses (they're not even arguments or rebuttals), and they're really meant to grind us down to helplessness and frustration.
It's going to be a long road.
