Hey guys, I know I don’t post much in this blog anymore and I am not exactly sure who will see this but I’m posting this because today is the Philippine Presidential Elections and, just like what other people here are already saying, we’re fighting for our lives right now.
We are fighting against the return of dictatorship in the country. We are fighting against the continuation of corruption and injustice. We are fighting for a better future. We are fighting, so that we may finally know peace.
Today, multiple issues regarding the elections have come up. Vote-Counting Machines (VCMs) “malfunctioning”, SD cards missing, people getting PAID for voting for the dictator’s son and his party, and more. Even the commission in charge of ENSURING FAIR ELECTIONS is failing to fully understand the grasp said issues, wasting people’s time and votes.
If you do find this post and read it, all I ask is that you share the news about the Philippines. Anything about today (May 9, 2022), about Halalan 2022/PH Elections 2022, about BBM and the Marcos Family, about Leni Robredo, Kiko Pangilinan, Chel Diokno and the rest of Robredo’s senatorial slate (+ Neri Colmenares),
and if this inspires you to learn everything else, then please do.
We are asking for your help, not in votes, but in sharing what is happening here to the rest of the world. Whatever happens, whatever the results are, we want the whole world to see what is going on. (But thank you to the foreign news outlets who have been speaking on this).
All the Filipinos are asking for is a fair government, where lives are recognized and uplifted. We cannot be kept in the dark again, we have had enough.
And if we need to meet in EDSA once again, then so be it.

Don't Lose Hope.
After watching our candidate, her team, and supporters put all their work, effort, time, money, and tears into the 2022 Elections, it feels like a dark shadow has been cast on our country again and there's nothing we can do about it.
I'm so sorry to the families who were victimized by the Marcoses. I'm so sorry to those who died trying to stop a ruthless and corrupt dictator, only for his son to wind up as President of our poor and starving country. I'm sorry to victims of the Marcos family, to those victims whose bodies were found and those whose bodies are lost in a place that their loved ones cannot find. I'm sorry to those who witnessed Martial Law and celebrated when Ferdinand Marcos was ousted, thinking their children won't have to suffer the way the Filipinos did in the 70s-80s. I'm sorry to those in lower socioeconomic status families who voted for Leni with hopes that she would be able to bring about change as our President. I'm sorry to everyone who hoped for a better future, only for evil to prevail.
Our hearts ache. Today, I watched my 81 year old grandfather sit on his own in a depressed mood because he couldn't believe that after doing his part in history by joining the EDSA revolution and voting on May 9, he was watching history repeat itself. He is too old to worry...but he worries because he cares the future of his family and country when he is gone.
But this is only the beginning. Before things will get better, they will get worse. But things can still get better. We cannot lose hope, because that's exactly what our corrupt government wants.
If you are lucky enough to be in class A and B, please do your part to help the less fortunate. We will suffer, but we will not suffer as gravely as those who live hand to mouth on a daily basis. It is easy to think that they might deserve it because they were the bulk of the voters who supported the Marcos family's return. But the truth is that their return has been carefully prepared for, for decades. Fake news, vote buying, poll manipulation, cronyism, corruption, political dynasties. The real evil lies in those with power and privilege who are educated enough to know better but choose not to do better. There is a reason why education is normally given the smallest budget, because these corrupt politicians benefit from the less fortunate's ignorance and miseducation.
The day will come when we are called to rally again and fight for our freedom. Until then, do not lose hope and do not forget to act as the miracle in other people's lives. The evilness of our government should not push us to tolerate and enable such behavior or worse, be as uncaring and without compassion as they are. Our country can be better if we continue to push ourselves to be better and demand our government to be better.
God bless you guys. To the non-Filipinos, please pray for our country or help spread the news about what is happening to us. We really need it.

Ok so another problem that has come with the elections here is that people are apparently pulling out from commissioning filipino artist due to the recent results showing that bongbong marcos is set to win. Please don’t do that!! Most filipino artist already make jackshit and most of them rely on comms to pay for their daily expenses. Not to mention people being threatened to get kicked out just because their whole family supports the dictator’s son except them.
For future commissioners for any filipino artist please try to inform yourselves and please learn to separate the government and the people of our country. People are trying their best to be vocal about the situation and to protest for what’s right even with the risk of being red tagged.

Please reblog this post
y’all pls hope for something good for the philippines. the official vote counting is not yet done and will probably be out by 24th but ugh partial and unofficial results shows that the dictator’s son is leading… i’m 😭
If you want to know everything that is happening here in the Philippines, please go here.
also pls, if you know someone who is a filipino and you commissioned for them; i beg you, please do not back out 😭 the artists here are crying, they have no other means of getting money (i for one benefits with my artbreeder portraits). not everyone voted for him, mostly the votes are from the older gen :(
the people here are still fighting for the country, please fight with us. thank you.
titindig para sa pilipinas, titindig para sa mga pilipino. 🌸
update: as of may 11th (pst) rumours about red-tagging outspoken filipinos is circulating online. this has caused distress and panic on a lot of filipinos — including myself for fear of our safety as well as concern with our freedom of speech. for context, here is what red-tagging means:
Tumblr media
also, it has been claimed by Bongbong Marcos himself that Sara Duterte will be the new secretary of the Department of Education. In which we all know is a strategy to revise and erase what’s written in our history books.
you can read more about it here: https://www.rappler.com/nation/elections/marcos-jr-says-sara-duterte-education-secretary/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR05qa0r37nS82ISQ6fUrJ4xiMBNf9PC67ZgBnJNyVJDHeU6_tV7Fh3R3Uk
P.S If you need help in translating some tagalog phrases, please don’t hesitate to dm me here. ❤️

I rarely post anything original (or political) on Tumblr, but this is one of those moments where I can't sit by.
----------
The people of the Philippines need international coverage now more than ever. We're at the risk of letting the son of a dictator sit at the president's seat. We're at the risk of another Ferdinand Marcos (Jr.; nicknamed BongBong Marcos/BBM) Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the dictator that declared Martial Law, which caused 3,000+ deaths, 34,000+ tortured (in so many different horrific ways), 70,000+ to be imprisoned, and hundreds of billions of pesos* to be plundered for their greed.
(Pesos = PH currency)
It would have been very different if the son acknowledged and denounced the crimes his father had done to our people. It would have been different if he paid his estate tax (203B afaik). But he hasn't. He refuses to acknowledge these things. And so we risk history revisionism. We can't allow our history to be changed to suit these people's desire.
The dictator has been dead many years already. But his mother still pulls the strings. His mother, Imelda Marcos, who has over 3,000+ pairs of expensive shoes, who so badly wanted to have an animal "oasis" that she had her husband's military force a village of 450+ families to leave so that she could use that land for the animals. (Which, by the way, they shouldn't even be there. Those animals were bought with a portion of the Marcos' ill-gotten wealth)
The Marcoses fled with their ill-gotten wealth when the people of the Philippines finally decided to fight back during the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986. They were exiled to Hawaii. They were permitted to return to the Philippines in 1991 by then-President Corazon Aquino so that they may face the charges being placed against them. Marcos Sr. died in 1989, before the family was permitted to return.
Imelda unsuccessfully ran for president a year after returning, but lost (thankfully). But her children BBM and Imee Marcos both won seats in the House of Representatives. Then later they would both win seats in the Senate. Bear in mind, neither of these children ever denounced their parents' evil doings. They always called for fake news.
And now, more than two decades later, we're at the risk of Marcos Jr. becoming president. The elections are being rigged as his sister, Imee, is the current Chairperson of COMELEC*. The appointees of COMELEC right now are all appointed by current President Rodrigo Duterte, whose daughter, Sara Duterte, is running for Vice President under the same camp as BBM. Yet another political dynasty.
(COMELEC = Commission of Elections)
They're apparently "done counting" over 80% of the votes when, oh-so-coincidentally, there are hundreds of voting machines that are apparently malfunctioning, so many missing/broken SD cards, and vote buying. Not to mention the hundreds of people in multiple precincts that still haven't even voted (I could be wrong as of now, since I'm posting this a day late)
As I type this, tens of thousands of my people prepare to march once again in protest against these rigged decisions. They're being red-tagged* as terrorists, even though people are peacefully walking, standing for what's right.
(Red-tagged = being identified/tagged and put under a terrorist watch-list)
Please. If you can, spread this message to as many places as you can. We're all still fighting so hard to prevent this from happening. We need the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilingan camp to win. They're the only ones who can keep these two from winning. We're desperate.
Please.

I dont care what the older generation thinks of us, I am so proud of being part of the youth who chose to fight for whats right. What most adults don't realize is that it is OUR future at stake. WE will be the ones to face the conseuqeunces of THEIR actions. Most parents in every household are celebrating the fact that they "proved their kids wrong" after seeing the election results but we will not be demotivated by their scrutiny. We will stand. We will fight. We will speak out against this discriminatory behavior and PROVE to them that we aren't "just children"
As a scholar, I am so happy seeing all of these students stand up for whats right ♡
CONTINUE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FOR OUR FUTURE!!!!!! IPAGLABAN NATIN TO!!!!!!

I am too shy and too scared to post this but let's push that aside for a while. No fighting in the comments okay? I am not wanting for a fight, I want to simply express my opinion. That is all.
If you're asking my opinion on the elections, it is the same as the majority of everyone else here. I am angry, disappointed, and most of all, sad and worried.
Bakit niyo itong gagawin?
HAH? ILANG PANG MGA KARANASAN PA PARA LANG MATUTUNAN NATIN ITO?
Kung tao ka may privileges at mabuti ang iyong buhay, sige mabuti baka hindi mo mararamdaman ang mga kahirapan ng mga mahihirap and the ones who are barely getting by. How about them? What about us? The whole nation for that matter? Don't try to dismiss me off, I'm trying to say that, it doesn't mean you don't experience it everyone doesn't too, I'm saying that if you were born lucky enough to have privileges, others couldn't and so in the end, they're the ones suffering!
I am angry that there are votes not being counted, that there is money involved in this, and that people can be foolish enough to vote for incompetence when they're actually good choices who are willing to bring change. I am disappointed that some people voted for incompetence, celebrating the actions of a son of the dictator who had put my country and my people under his iron fist for 21 years and who stole so much money from the pockets of the people and still didn't pay one back. Who's reign of Martial Law struck fear into everyone's hearts, many people died, many rights were lost, and so much more atrocities I can't bear to say.
That people voted that man over someone with competence and has helped with the pandemic so much. She has done so much for us, heck even the former administration discriminated her for her efforts.
I am angry for people who voted for an actor with no skill in politics and admit it himself that he'll just use the money.
There are so much competent people who can help us. Lawyers , human rights activists, people who know what we are going through and will do their best to serve us.
I am sad because WE ALL HAVE HOPE FOR CHANGE. A GOOD CHANGE IN FACT. WHY AREN'T WE GOING TO GET IT? HOW MUCH MORE FOR HOPE?
Lastly I am scared, I am scared that the same damn things will happen. AGAIN. I'm scared that the live of my loved ones will be affected, we are all scared. People who suffered under Martial Law and who are still alive, seeing the way Philippines choose it's next president.
Ang bansa ko ay hindi kanilang ng isa pang martial law para matuto, isa ay tama na. Madaming taong nawala, napatay, at mga rights ng tao na violate. Hindi yan mabuti at gusto niyo ito mangyari muli? Ano ba?
To everyone, Don't stop. Don't stop protesting, don't stop. Our future.
And that is my opinion on the country's elections.

[NOT MXTX RELATED]
Oh god when the elections in your country are so fucked up that the top1 senator voted is a fucking actor who knows no shit about politics. half of the top senators voted were literally imprisoned because of proven corruption and graft. the top1 vice president voted who is literally brawn>brain & punchpeople>diplomacy and is the daughter of our misogynistic & rape-jokes enthusiast president. the top1 president voted is a fucking liar, faked his diploma, never attended credible debates and never even admitted that his father (A FUCKING DICTATOR) never did any wrong when facts and sources say otherwise.
when your country is the philippines and your politics is a joke. fuck i hope there is still fucking hope. our poll count is still unofficial. hoping for a more verified result because what the fuck our government is a clown show.
I hope people see our politics as a warning. the top1 voted president used disinformation and distorted our history as a mechanism to brainwash our citizens into voting for him and used negative campaigning to make him look good. I hope people will try to fight against disinformation so that your country won't end up like mine.

HELP THE YOUTH STAY EDUCATED ABOUT THE MARCOS DICTATORSHIP
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pre-order these books here.
With Sara Duterte as Vice President and now Secretary of Education, we must prepare for the likelihood of historical revisionism in the youth's education, which first started when corrupt Dictator Ferdinand Marcos' body was allowed to be transferred to Libingan ng Mga Bayani (Cemetary of Heroes) despite the protests of thousands of Filipinos.
"presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio on Thursday said the Philippines needs a future generation of Filipinos who will advocate for “peace and discipline” in the communities."
The daughter of a man who killed thousands of people, and paved the way for the Marcos family to be accepted by Filipinos once more. She intends to do this under the leadership of Bong Bong Marcos, who has refused to apologize for the murders, tortures, sexual abuse, and theft that his family and cronies have committed.
Before they get their claws deeper into our education system, please try to buy any one of these books for your younger relatives or future children.
We cannot allow them to change history. We cannot lose hope. We must continue to fight for our country, even if it just means staying educated.
If you are not Filipino, please pass on the news about what is happening to our country. Help the world know what is happening to us, because this could happen to you.

the PH elections situation
I don’t usually post anything here and only mostly reblog fandom stuff but I need to get this out. The world needs to know what the Philippines is going through these past months, and especially recently with our elections last May 10, 2022. Please reblog / share / boost if you can, on whatever social media site there is.
I hope the world knows what we’re going through. I hope the world knows how we’ve been scammed, how we’ve been given an illusion of a fair democratic vote. It’s all been rigged in favor of a son of a former dictator, who has no diploma, lied about having a diploma, and doesn’t even have one concrete platform to offer. Literally. I am not joking when I say he has zero platforms to offer except “unity”, and yet millions of other Filipinos voted for him. And to explain further, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. or “BBM” is the son of former president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., whose administration brought our country into a large debt and economic downfall that hasn’t been paid ‘til now. Those who spoke out against his regime were tortured and killed under their declaration of Martial Law, while their family lived lavish lives with taxpayer money. I cannot say everything they’ve done with the money because it’s a LOT, but I invite you to instead watch The Kingmaker, a documentary that shows exactly what happened in this era. Below is also another infographic summarizing the economy during the Marcos regime, but a single picture cannot not give full justice to the experiences of those who died fighting for their rights. If you want more information about this, feel free to message me or do your own research.
Tumblr media
(photo taken from martiallawmuseum.ph. Infographic by Sabine Gochuico, Sofia Trinidad, and Kaitlyn Roque)
I am incredibly mad at the result, and I want to get mad at those who voted for him. But at the same time, I can only blame the decades of misinformation, fake news, and historical revisionism the Marcos family has been building for so long. Their biggest opposition, Leni Robredo, was destroyed even before she ran because of years of fake news against her. There is also a rampant problem of a crappy education system here in the Philippines. In 2019, we ranked lowest in reading comprehension among 79 other countries. Our government does not do anything about it because, to quote late Filipino politician Miriam Defensor Santiago...
Tumblr media
(text: picture of late Filipino politician Miriam Defensor Santiago, with her quote that says, “I have realized why corrupt politicians do nothing to improve the quality of public school education. They are terrified of educated voters.”)
They are taking advantage of this by spreading fake news & misinformation because they know that Filipinos aren’t educated enough to do their own research or even read the news properly. Not only that, but the election day itself was very sketchy, with numerous official reports saying that there were “malfunctioning vote counting machines” that couldn’t even be replaced. Voters were told to leave their ballots behind so that the poll officials themselves could put it in the machines “when they’re fixed”, which was complete bullshit, by the way, as there are videos of ballots being shredded & ripped. The statistics of the votes show that the gap of percentages have been coincidentally the same everywhere, which is statistically impossible. It’s blatant cheating & lies right in front of our eyes. I can only blame the upper class that’s been controlling the Philippines for so long.
It makes me mad that a rich politician from an infamously corrupt family is winning the elections despite having no diploma and having no concrete platforms. I and other Filipinos feel depressed, as if we’re wasting our education and hard work. Why study if someone who doesn’t have a diploma can become president, while his supporters tell us “It’s just a paper”? While I understand that educational background could sometimes be an elitist standard to hold when choosing leaders, what makes me pissed now is that BBM is a privileged, rich son of a fascist dictator that was born into riches, and grew up into riches still. No effort, no nothing.
Please pray for the Philippines. The partial, unofficial results have shown that BBM is winning, but the official results from manual counting are just coming in. News reports from other countries are pitying us, some are laughing at our situation, and I feel ashamed that, if ever he does win, we’d have to suffer through six years under him. There is still so much bullcrap going on in PH politics that deserves a whole post on its own, heck maybe its own tumblr blog archive. His possible presidency is just one of the many reasons why Filipinos on your feed or tl on social media are getting mad over our elections. But for now, I want the world to know about this first. Please spread the news. We’re crying over here and if our own countrymen refuse to listen, we hope the rest of the world does.
Tumblr media
(image from CinemaBravo on Facebook. it says: “Time and forgetfulness are the allies of abusers.”)
To my fellow Filipinos... Alam ko mahirap talaga ngayon. Mahirap mahalin ang bansa ngayon, mahirap lumaban, mahirap na rin mabuhay. Pero lumaban pa rin tayo. The moment we give up is another opportunity for them to push themselves further. Walang aalis ng bansa. Pupunta pa tayo ng EDSA, whether physically or spiritually. We will fight once again, and we will win against the Marcoses, just as we have before. Hindi tayo ang aalis, sila ang paaalisin natin. Mahigpit na yakap.

To the Filipinos messaging me today over the ongoing election results (and for the foreigners to be aware of our political situation),
I feel you — this is humiliating, painful, and devastating. A legacy of dictatorship back on the seat of power, over hundreds of reported bribery and cheating cases with evidence, an election committee with their own preferred people, actors and abusers over human rights lawyers, history forgotten and rewritten.
But let's never forget that we're on the right side of history. My first vote was for someone with the best possible credentials and character, along with a colorful senatorial team with great campaigns.
We'll grieve this time around, but let grief turn to anger and let anger turn to hope for a better future.
I'll always remember how every university banded together for her; how professionals and celebrities chose her and her team. I'll never forget the flash mobs singing peace hymns in malls, markets, and streets; the house-to-house campaigns where my friends ventured to the most unreachable places; the sports games where everyone wore pink instead of their school colors; the crowded rallies where food and water were passed around, and not a single wallet was stolen.
We turned a political campaign into a movement for change and love — and I'll always be proud of that. We made the right choices. We did what we can. That, in itself, shows promise for our future.
For brighter futures, laban lang, Pilipinas! fighting! 💗
