To the Filipinos messaging me today over the ongoing election results (and for the foreigners to be aware of our political situation),
I feel you — this is humiliating, painful, and devastating. A legacy of dictatorship back on the seat of power, over hundreds of reported bribery and cheating cases with evidence, an election committee with their own preferred people, actors and abusers over human rights lawyers, history forgotten and rewritten.
But let's never forget that we're on the right side of history. My first vote was for someone with the best possible credentials and character, along with a colorful senatorial team with great campaigns.
We'll grieve this time around, but let grief turn to anger and let anger turn to hope for a better future.
I'll always remember how every university banded together for her; how professionals and celebrities chose her and her team. I'll never forget the flash mobs singing peace hymns in malls, markets, and streets; the house-to-house campaigns where my friends ventured to the most unreachable places; the sports games where everyone wore pink instead of their school colors; the crowded rallies where food and water were passed around, and not a single wallet was stolen.
We turned a political campaign into a movement for change and love — and I'll always be proud of that. We made the right choices. We did what we can. That, in itself, shows promise for our future.
For brighter futures, laban lang, Pilipinas! fighting! 💗

PLEASE REBLOG!!!
Marcos and Duterte hasn't even won yet and THIS is already happening
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The votes are still being counted. There are protests happening because PPCRV (Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting) volunteers in Intramuros are BEING HARRASED BY THE MILITARY AND POLICE. UP STUDENT ATHLETES ARE BEING THREATENED AND TRAUMA BY THE POLICE. They are sabotaging the lights and surrounding the innocents.
COMELEC wants to stop the PPCRV Manual Counting because it's obvious Leni and Kiko are leading. Some are even destroying ballots that voted for Leni and Kiko, and some are shading Marcos. Please help us spread awareness of what's happening.

(Long post but this is important so please read)
For those living outside of the Philippines and are currently unaware of the ongoing situation in my country, we just had our elections yesterday on May 9 (Monday) and results have been coming in since last night. Bong Bong Marcos, the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos is in the lead for president while his VP candidate Sara Duterte, daughter of the current president, also in the lead. And this is bad. REALLY BAD.
I can't give a complete and comprehensive summary of Ferdinand Marcos' rule in a single post but this is all you need to know. A lot of people were killed, tortured, and raped during his time, and those were only the ones who were found and accounted for. We still have so many missing victims until now that we call them the Los Desaparecidos or The Disappeared. The Marcos family also stole about billions from the country and her people. They literally lavished in their homes while children were dying from starvation.
Already foreign investors are pulling out which can mean really bad things for our economy which not many of us can afford right now.
And as for Sara Duterte if you've heard of her father and the War on Drugs then you'd understand why we're so apprehensive of having another Duterte have a seat of power in the national government.
As of now there are already allegations of the elections being rigged. Some might think it's a wild conspiracy theory but with the history of these political dynasties and the corrupt system of our government I can't help but agree that something's wrong.
Because before elections even officially closed there have already been reports of about 1800 faulty Vote Counting Machines (VCM) , the highest number in election history with VCMs rejecting ballots or malfunctioning effectively delaying the voting process by hours which resulted with registered voters being turned away by COMELEC because they didn't make the cut-off of 7 p.m.
And speaking of COMELEC (they're basically the committee in charge of handling the elections) their handling of the whole elections is just downright incompetent and shady. There have been allegations of ballots being manipulated and only a few hours has passed since the tallying of votes has begun and somehow they've covered more than 85 % of the precincts just not all over the country but also overseas. Which is questionable considering that about 50% of the country's VCMs are broken.
There is also a noticeable trend with how Leni Robredo, Marcos' most serious opposition who beat him for the position of VP in the 2016 elections, always has 47% of the total transmitted votes for Marcos during every election update.
(tl;dr)
I know that Tumblr can be very Western centric but this is serious. The elections were badly handled from the start and it looks like we're heading towards another Marcos administration thanks to a combination of Filipinos who would rather deny our history and corrupt government officials. Please help us keep a spot light on the Philippines because we're not going down without a fight if Marcos wins.

So, we are about to go back to a dark age in Philippine history and honestly, I'm angry, I'm scared, exhausted and disappointed.
I have no shame on who I voted and I will always be proud of voting for Leni. I just wish it was easier to love your country when you have the right people in the right place.
So, what happens next? We live. We breathe. We go on. We fight for another day. But we all know we can't go back to the way it was so we have to keep moving. We'll stand proud and tall for who we vote for and we keep moving. But we also have to stand up.
To anyone reading this post: Please stand for freedom, stand for justice, stand for truth, stand up.
And to those who voted for him: alam niyo na kung sino sisisihin niyo kung may mangyari sa bansa natin. At wag niyo kami idamay sa pagdurusa niyo

HELP THE YOUTH STAY EDUCATED ABOUT THE MARCOS DICTATORSHIP
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pre-order these books here.
With Sara Duterte as Vice President and now Secretary of Education, we must prepare for the likelihood of historical revisionism in the youth's education, which first started when corrupt Dictator Ferdinand Marcos' body was allowed to be transferred to Libingan ng Mga Bayani (Cemetary of Heroes) despite the protests of thousands of Filipinos.
"presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio on Thursday said the Philippines needs a future generation of Filipinos who will advocate for “peace and discipline” in the communities."
The daughter of a man who killed thousands of people, and paved the way for the Marcos family to be accepted by Filipinos once more. She intends to do this under the leadership of Bong Bong Marcos, who has refused to apologize for the murders, tortures, sexual abuse, and theft that his family and cronies have committed.
Before they get their claws deeper into our education system, please try to buy any one of these books for your younger relatives or future children.
We cannot allow them to change history. We cannot lose hope. We must continue to fight for our country, even if it just means staying educated.
If you are not Filipino, please pass on the news about what is happening to our country. Help the world know what is happening to us, because this could happen to you.

Too stressed and anxious to type rn so have this copy pasted from discord sorry
I am watching the live national elections for the Philippines
Ferdinand Marcos Jr is winning for pres
And Sara Duterte is winning vice pres
Ferdinand is banned from europe and the usa, Faked his degrees, His father lead one of the worst regimes in Philippine history rivaling that of the Spanish and Japanese and hes just an asshole overall
And Sara is the daughter of Rodrigo Roa Duterte, A president known for his senseless killings in "the war on drugs"
She wants to instate mandatory military service
If he wins it will most likely cause a domino effect of american and european brands to pull out of the country since the Marcoses are banned there
I will lose literally every social i have (including tumblr)
Ferdinand Marcos Sr also had ties to Marxists and his wife Imelda Marcos was so ambitious as to want her daughter to marry THE PRINCE OF WALES
She was a social climber that used the country's citizens and resources as her playthings leaving death, destruction and crime in her wake.
Her ambition to be a royal rivaled that of Marie antoinette from her lavish spendings of the country's funds and her ignorance of social and political issues
Fuck they even have a world record

I've been circling back and forth between Leni and Leody for months, for reasons I've talked about at length already. But it's crunch time, a decision has to be made, and unlike Sandro Marcos, I intend to shade only one president in my ballot. Both Leni and Leody are radical votes, a fuck you to the institutions that have long sowed divide, discord, and a deep sense of hopelessness among Filipinos. But Leni ticks all the boxes, and despite my support for Leody (since 2019!), I intend to again help elect her into office.
She is what every leader should aspire to be: smart, resilient, strategic, able to think ten steps ahead, biased toward action--hindi natutulog sa pansitan (or sa ilalim ng kulambo while Netflixing Narcos), a listener, a leader who does not hog the limelight (instead shares the glory with her team), and has receipts. Never has any other presidential candidate inspired so much volunteerism than Leni. Big names are not afraid to be associated with her. For instance, I've been a staunch OPM listener since the 2000s, and never have I seen so many musicians take a stand, even if it meant losing followers. Leni outran 9 other men in terms of track record and even overshadowed the incumbent president with her resume. She's equal parts compassionate and strong, data- and anecdote-driven, reluctant to power but able to harness it for good.
She's human--many (me included) have criticized her for some of her decisions and policies, but her track record demonstrates her ability to listen and pivot as needed. She's a working leader--she doesn't just delegate and wait for reports. One favorite anecdote is how the vice president herself responded to one direct message to Bayanihan E-Konsulta late at night, assuring the person on the other end that her office will take care of the medical expenses. See all she's done? Why would anyone vote otherwise?
But maybe we don't vote with facts--we vote based on consanguinity, our realities, our feelings. We vote based on what feels right. When I was younger, I bought into the narrative that Marcos' Martial Law years were the golden ages, all because of a friend. It wasn't until I stepped into UP and one professor asked us to write about those years that I pored through article over article, each one more bone-chilling than the last. My dad would tell me "Tahimik noon, kung sumusunod ka..." It's the absence of the second part of that sentence, the condition, "pero kung hindi..." that spoke volumes. I could never vote any Marcos into power again.
Halley's Comet comes 'round our orbit every 76 years. A Leni Robredo does not come around often. Passing up the chance to elect someone who isn't merely a "lesser evil" is rarer than the famed comet, so why would you spend May 9 electing the same old names that never really cared about the country?
Research about the candidates here

I found out the reason why Mama ain't voting for Leni because... She lack leadership? I'm... Kinda disappointed in her. Okay, I have to admit I'm kinda scared to say anything about it because she's my Mama. 😓😓😓
Thoughts? 👀
05 tw: Ph Politics
I have to say this, but your mom is one of those stuck in the cult mindset. Leni has been VP for years and she's active on the ground, just check her political history (on official sources too!). Her contributions have reached an international scale, she's the one balancing our Du30's disrespect towards our foreign allies.
I live in Iloilo and we're often struck by typhoons. Remember when I had a week break last year because of the typhoon? Yeah. Every year, we struggle with little to no media attention when disasters happen. VP Leni was one of the first to actively use her platform for us. She sent people and aid before the typhoon even arrived.
Believe me when I say she's active. As someone from the province, it's incredible how she reaches out to us immediately.
I know it's scary to debate with family, I've had a few who taunted and threatened me as well (takes every bit of my patience to have a healthy discourse 🥲) but this isn't just my future, but for the victims of the past as well. I'm inspired by the sons and daughters of politicians who spoke up against incompetent ruling. Take it slow with your mom, I want to believe that there's good in everyone and that they only need to be informed to make better choices.
It makes me wonder, just how obsessed are they with a dictator's son to the point that they aren't even aware of his own campaigns and activities? He's been in congress for years now, only co-signing typical bills under the names of other politicians. I do hope you can make your mom see reason– not just for your sake, but as someone who loves my family members, I want them to be aware of their choices and morals // sobbing

Only the young.. can run.
we've all suffered enough during this pandemic, now that the elections is just around the corner, I hope and pray that ppl will elect the most qualified presidential candidate. not bc of money (bribe), popularity, competition with other voters but bc we all want good governance.
not just during the pandemic, even before that. ppl are losing their jobs, going into poverty, hunger. -- we need solid and effective plans, not promises. we need solutions, not sugar-coated words. - a candidate that will ACT NOW.
so please, this coming may 9, 2022 please think and cast your vote wisely. think of our country, the philippines, and the life that we will be living in during those 6 years. do not give others the chance to continuously corrupt and take advantage of power. tayo ang kawawa.

I dont care what the older generation thinks of us, I am so proud of being part of the youth who chose to fight for whats right. What most adults don't realize is that it is OUR future at stake. WE will be the ones to face the conseuqeunces of THEIR actions. Most parents in every household are celebrating the fact that they "proved their kids wrong" after seeing the election results but we will not be demotivated by their scrutiny. We will stand. We will fight. We will speak out against this discriminatory behavior and PROVE to them that we aren't "just children"
As a scholar, I am so happy seeing all of these students stand up for whats right ♡
CONTINUE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FOR OUR FUTURE!!!!!! IPAGLABAN NATIN TO!!!!!!
