The Korean Five had a separate space as artists selected to showcase the highest level of contemporary South Korean painting. These were Soon Young Yang, Sang Woon Nam, Min Chan Kim, Jun Won Lee and Lee K.
Sang Woon Nam's Blue Moon series includes tiny hard to spot details which add to the intrigue of the paintings.

I really enjoyed seeing what's going on in the world of South Korean contemporary art. I also found out that everyone who bought tickets for the Korean Art London show can also get free entry to the Yun Hyong-Keun exhibition currently on in Hastings if they go before the 22nd July. Bummed out that I won't be able to take advantage of this offer but I do plan to head to the South Coast sometime before the beginning of October to see this retrospective of RM's favourite artist

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Sora "Aaron" Senju Uchiha
Birthday: January 24
Height: 6'5"
Appearance: So his faceclaim is ^ but I also wanted him to look more like an Uchiha so he would have dark raven hair, like the Uchiha's in Naruto and the same eye color. Might make his hair a bit more curly
Voice claim: a deep male voice with a British accent. Think Hobie Brown and Howl Pendragon combined
Backstory: So long story short, in this reality I'm born in Japan but because I'm from two famous clans (half Senju, half Uchiha), my family moved to London and that's where I trained and I was homeschooled up until highschool. I move back to Japan a week before the entrance exam. Even though I could get in through recommendations, it would be more fun to go through the exams and take first place and put Bakugo in his place. I have two siblings who are twins and will grow up around Eri's age.
Quirk: Senju Sharingan (I'm horrible at names lol 💀) It's a unique quirk that combines the Uchiha clan's Sharingan and the regenerative abilities of the Senju clan. I'm also able to use Wood Release as well (For non-naruto fans, it's like a nature quirk with trees but more destructive).
Extra info -
So for my quirk, I can do ninjustu, learn taijutsu, and learn genjustu too. Instead of having to see people die to activate my sharingan, i just scripted I will have to train really hard and break my limits to get my sharingan and upgrade it too. Same goes for getting my mangekyo sharingan cause why would I give myself more trauma?
I scripted so many things for me being handsome it's not even funny 💀. I came there to steal attention and be hot and wanted, not to be a side character 🥱
I'm half Nigerian, half Japanese (fully Nigerian here). I know Japanese, Yuroba, Igbo, Chinese (or Mandarin), French, Spanish, English, Korean, and Italian
Skills: dance, bake, cook, sing, garden, play lots of instruments, do martial arts, ice skating, skating, thinking outside the box, roller skating, judo, teamwork, decision making, learning, listening, fighting, observing, problem solving, math, styling clothes, styling hair, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, exercising, mindfulness, meditation, flexibility, high stamina, learning choreography fast, good memory, hyper focus, Capoeira, muay thai, kickboxing
I play the violin, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, trumpet, flute, upright bass, cello, and clarinet 🥱🥱
My mom is Tsunade and she's half Nigerian half Japanese. So is my dad. My siblings were born in London. We're rich and loaded, like Momo Yaoyurozu loaded. Might make myself even more richer than her.
Tumblr media
My script in my Google docs is like 39 pages, and it's mostly full of extra stuff I scripted 🫣 but yeah if you want more questions, do ask away ✨I love yapping about my drs. The next three are coming your way 💁🏾‍♀️

Why These Imperfect Korean ‘Moon Jars’ Sell for Millions
Old, round, imperfect and beautiful — that’s how fans of Korean art describe the moon jar, or “dalhangari.”
These unassuming, plain white pots have entranced everyone from rapper RM, of K-pop sensation BTS, to philosopher Alain de Botton.
The former director of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Beth McKillop, has called the moon jar an “icon of Korean identity.” And if price is any indicator of popularity, one recently sold for over $4.5 million at a Christie’s auction.
This month, a rare example from the late 17th or early 18th century will go on sale at Sotheby’s in New York, where it’s expected to fetch more than $3 million.
“A large moon jar has always been expensive, but I think the big uptick in prices and value is… because their appeal is now global,” said Angela McAteer, Sotheby’s international head of Chinese art for the Americas and Europe, over video call. “You’ve got an international cohort of bidders competing for them, so it’s gone beyond the traditional connoisseur collecting community of Korean art.”
Tumblr media
Huge price tags also result from the jars’ rarity. Although made for over a century in the royal kilns of Korea’s last kingdom, the Joseon dynasty, few are thought to exist today. Estimates for the number of larger ones (those more than 40 centimeters, or 15.7 inches, tall and wide) that have survived over the years range from 12 to 30.
Having passed through auction houses and antique dealers across the world, several of these are now in the collections of institutions like the British Museum and Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in the hands of private collectors.
‘Owning a piece of happiness’
The first moon jars were created in the royal kilns in Gwangju (a city just outside Seoul, not the larger southern city of the same name) from 1650 to 1750. They were made from pure white porcelain and kaolin clay, and, following the neo-Confucian fashions of their day, the pots reflected values such as propriety, humility, frugality and purity. They were likely used at court and in upper-class homes as containers for food and liquids, or as decorative vessels.
In the mid-20th century, moon jars began gaining international appreciation thanks to influential admirers such as Japanese folk crafts scholar Yanagi Soetsu and British potter Bernard Leach, who bought one from a Seoul antique store in 1935. Leach once said that having a moon jar was like “owning a piece of happiness,” and would later give his to fellow potter Lucie Rie for safekeeping during World War II. It stayed in her studio until her death and was later acquired by the British Museum.
Charlotte Horlyck, lecturer in Korean Art History at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, wrote in the Art Bulletin journal that after World War II the moon jar “caught the attention of an early generation of postcolonial Korean artists and scholars who sought to restore Korean art history and national identity,” as the pieces “resonated with the visual language of international modernism and minimalism of the mid-20th century while remaining a distinctly Korean work of art.”
The moon jar’s allure
When Sotheby’s announced its forthcoming sale, the auction house described its 44-centimeter (17.3-inch) moon jar as an object that inspired, astounded and soothed those who “stand in its presence.” It’s a funny thing to say about a pot, to speak as if it’s alive, but the jars’ visceral, emotional impact on people is something that comes up time and time again in the literature.
Tumblr media
Choi Sunu, a former director of the National Museum of Korea, has described the museum’s moon jars as being like companions, or muses that have inspired his writing and stirred his creativity. Bernard Leach admired the pots for their “natural unselfconsciousness.” In 2012, South Korea’s then-Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik used the pot as a metaphor symbolizing a reunified Korean peninsula (moon jars are created in two hemispherical pieces and joined in the middle).
More recently the rapper RM, of K-pop group BTS, posted a picture of himself hugging a modern-day moon jar on Twitter, telling fans that the pots made him feel calm.
“It’s hard for someone to really comprehend how a pot can make you feel that way,” said McAteer. “It has this real meditative presence. If you’ve sat in front of a great (painting by US artist, Mark) Rothko and you feel this kind of palpable energy emanate from it, and you could sit for hours and just feel something in its presence — the moon jar has that too.”
“The more you look at it, the more there is to see. It looks different from every angle,” she added. “We had real issues with the photography and the catalog because it looks like a different piece every time you rotate it, or you change the lighting. The surface is just alive, you know.”
“You can see how the glaze coalesces; you see these spontaneous bursts of this blush color that’s happening in the firing. You can lose yourself in its surface.”
Modern masters
Modern Korean potters have been inspired by the jars, and a number have come up with their own homages. Ceramist Kim Syyong covers his pots with a black glaze, while Yun Ju Cheol’s versions look spikier like a pufferfish and Choi Bo Ram’s unvarnished, textured blue vases have a denim-like quality.
Others, like Kwon Dae Sup, have looked to closely recreate the process used by the potters of yore. The 71-year-old ceramist produces unadorned white jars and allows for all the beautiful imperfections produced to shine through. He works out of a studio in Gwangju, where the royal kilns that produced moon jars were once located.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a great deal of preparation that goes into making a moon jar traditionally. It’s labor-intensive: washing, sifting impurities from the clay, kneading and rolling it to remove air bubbles, carrying around these large hunks, not to mention hand throwing the clay itself to that oversized bowl shape without collapsing, and the work keeping a pine wood fire burning for 24 hours while the pot hardens in the kiln. Kwon also built his own kiln to replicate the old process as closely as possible.
“I do this because it’s fun,” he said in a phone interview. “Every time I make something, it’s novel … The quality of the material is different every time. The conditions in which I make the pots is new every time.”
Kwon said he also feels an emotional connection to the moon jar. As a student he was so moved by a one he saw in a Korean antique store that he decided they would be his life’s work. “They feel alive,” he said.
In a 2019 book on his work by Axel Vervoodt Gallery the potter is quoted saying he tries to produce art that needs no addition or subtraction. “I wish to create work that has an imposing presence but harmonizes with its surroundings regardless of where and when it is displayed. It should give peace of mind and a sense of comfort to all who look at it.”
By Christy Choi.

Sooo I realized yesterday that I.. haven't *actually* updated my redesigns for JJ/HH from when I first joined MH Tumblr almost a year ago. And I figured since they've gone through so many iterations on this account, might as well make some more concrete redesigns with mini profiles to boot. So introducing the new and improved Jackson Jekyll & Holt Hyde redesigns! (+ Some closeups) (pls pls click)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've got a couple notes about this Non-Descript G1 AU that they live in below the cut!
-English on their mom's side, Korean on their dad's side.
-Same as my 40k G3 fic, Holt's parents never actually GAVE him a name. So he used 'DJ' as his name until Draculaura helped him come up with the name 'Holt'. And thus his full name is DJ 'Holt' Hyde.
-Jackson wears clear jewelry in all of Holt's piercings, especially the facial piercings. They still have the shared yin-yang tattoo on the nape of their necks.
-Despite many beliefs in the monster community, blue skin is not indicative that a fire imp is half human. It's just a genetic mutation like blue eyes or red hair in humans. Though it is more common in half-fire imps than full blooded ones.
-There are, though, 3 main things that set Holt apart from other fire imps appearance-wise. 1: he doesn't have horns or a tail thanks to the confines of Jackson's human body. 2: his flames are a little droopier and look a little more like hair, again thanks to half human-ness. And 3: visible irises and pupils. Full-blooded fire imps have pure white eyes.
-Holt is fully willing to deck somebody who points any of those 3 things out.
-Holt also has blue pupils rather than black!
-Jax/Holt and Heath are actually friends here, even if Heath is sometimes disrespectful to his half-normie cousin.
-Jax is still the shy, nerdy kid who gets bullied, but overtime he starts to come out of his shell. Holt, on the other hand, was popular from the get-go and has a relatively high standing on the social pyramid. Definitely not teen royalty like some of his peers, but he's certainly more favoured than Jackson.
-Same as always, Jackson is about a foot taller than Holt.
-Holt and Catty are best friends. They collab a lot on different music and she introduced him to her boyfriend Pharaoh.
-Jackson's coat is a huge comfort object for him. It's made of wool and cashmere and he got it in London where he grew up. He's almost never seen at school without it, and he maintains and washes it regularly.
-Jax has a lot of those rubber bracelets from his favourite bands under his sleeves. Most of them are metal bands. Jax is a metalhead argue with the wall.
-
Hope y'all like the art and minor worldbuilding as much as I love these boys!! I hope to use these redesigns in some artwork soon enough huehue.

Too many books came in at the same time from my library queue, so @redheadgleek suggests a poll and yes, let’s poll! Y’all can see my… varied reading interests lol
What should I read next?
Daughter from the Dark: Late one night, fate brings together DJ Aspirin and ten-year-old Alyona. After he tries to save her from imminent danger, she ends up at his apartment. But in the morning sinister doubts set in. Who is Alyona? A young con artist? A plant for a nefarious blackmailer? Or perhaps a long-lost daughter Aspirin never knew existed? Whoever this mysterious girl is, she now refuses to leave.
The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett: Wanting to organize an assisted death on her own terms, world-weary octogenarian Eudora Honeysett forges an unexpected bond with exuberant ten-year-old Rose, who drags her to tea parties, shopping sprees, and other social excursions.
Flesh and Bone and Water: André is a listless Brazilian teenager and the son of a successful plastic surgeon who lives a life of wealth and privilege, shuttling between the hot sands of Ipanema beach and his family's luxurious penthouse apartment. In 1985, when he is just 16, André's mother is killed in a car accident. Clouded with grief, André's father loses himself in his work while André spends his evenings in the family apartment with Luana, the beautiful daughter of the family's maid. Three decades later, and now a successful surgeon himself, André is a middle-aged father, living in London, and recently separated. One day he receives an unexpected letter from Luana, which begins to reveal the other side of their story, a story André has long repressed.
Geek Love: The Binewskis are a carny family whose mater- and paterfamilias set out-- with the help of amphetamine, arsenic, and radioisotopes-- to breed their own exhibit of human oddities. There is Arturo the Aquaboy, who has flippers for limbs and a megalomaniac ambition worthy of Genghis Khan. Iphy and Elly, the lissome Siamese twins. Albino hunchback Oly. And the outwardly normal Chick, whose mysterious gifts make him the family's most precious-- and dangerous-- asset. As they set out across the U.S., family values will never be the same.
Same Bed Different Dreams: March 1919. Far-flung Korean patriots establish the Korean Provisional Government to protest the Japanese occupation of their country. This government-in-exile proves mostly symbolic, its petitions ignored by heads of state as Korea's nationhood is erased. After Japan's defeat in World War II, the KPG dissolves and civil war erupts, resulting in the North-South split that remains today. But what if the KPG still existed now, today-working toward a unified Korea, secretly harnessing the might of a giant tech company to further its aims?
Unholy: why white evangelicals worship at the altar of Donald Trump: Fueled by an anti-democratic impulse, and united by this narrative of reverse victimization, the religious right and the alt-right support a common agenda--and are actively using the erosion of democratic norms to roll back civil rights advances, stock the judiciary with hard-right judges, defang and deregulate federal agencies, and undermine the credibility of the free press. Increasingly, this formidable bloc is also forging ties with European far right groups, giving momentum to a truly global movement forecasted to last long after the Trump era.
Comemadre: In the outskirts of Buenos Aires in 1907, a doctor becomes involved in a misguided experiment that investigates the threshold between life and death. One hundred years later, a celebrated artist goes to extremes in search of aesthetic transformation, turning himself into an art object.
I Who Have Never Known Men: A young woman is kept in a cage underground with thirty-nine other females, guarded by armed men who never speak; her crimes unremembered... if indeed there were crimes.
Road of Bones: Kolyma Highway, otherwise known as the Road of Bones, is a 1200 mile stretch of Siberian road where winter temperatures can drop as low as sixty degrees below zero. Felix Teigland, or "Teig," is a documentary producer, and when he learns about the Road of Bones, he realizes he's stumbled upon untapped potential. Accompanied by his camera operator, Teig hires a local Yakut guide to take them to Oymyakon, the coldest settlement on Earth. Teig is fascinated by the culture along the Road of Bones, and encounters strange characters on the way to the Oymyakon, but when the team arrives, they find the village mysteriously abandoned apart from a mysterious nine-year-old girl. Then, chaos ensues.

Terus yaudah jadinya painting sambil ngobrol lah.
Sebetulnya pas lagi kerja biasa sehari-hari juga kaya gini sih, tapi lebih in a more unproductive way aja.
Se-kayak robot itu-kah hasilnya?” Sesampainya balik ke office, kumasukkin prompt kaya gini:
Can you please build a personal statement for me applying to this course: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduate-taught/environmental-technology/ based on my profile https://www.linkedin.com/in/asriindraswari/
Jawaban ChatGPT:
I'm sorry for any confusion, but I don't have direct access to external websites, including LinkedIn. However, I can certainly help you craft a personal statement based on the information you provide. To get started, please share some key details about your academic background, relevant work experience, skills, and any specific achievements or projects related to environmental technology. Additionally, let me know why you are interested in pursuing the Environmental Technology program at Imperial College London. This information will help me tailor the personal statement to showcase your strengths and alignment with the program's objectives.
I am interested in pursuing the course”, betulan baru masukkin data CV aja. DAN HASILNYA LUAR BIASA PERSONALISED???! Sampe shocked bacanya:

Terus kan aku pengen punya konteks lebih spesifik ya, jadi kumasukkin promptnya:

Enrolling in this course will help me gain new knowledge and exposure to environment technology management which will make me better equipped for my upcoming career task.
(Jujur masih gatau ngapain gua pake thank you segala tapi ya emang pengen being nice aja sama machine emangnya gaboleh)
Replynya gajauh beda tapi ada 2-3 additional sentences dan new paragraph yang emang specifically address the issue of path pivoting/redirection :

(Akhirnya sama)
Kalau mau ditambahin bumbu-bumbu passion motivasi coming from personal experience jadi lebih tasty lagi. Ini pun bisa ditambahin di prompt ChatGPT.
Barusan ku-masukkin lagi:
Put more additional motivation: I have more interest in the environment, especially after I recognised many environmental problems in the geology field while doing my research that are not well addressed. It is getting very concerning at this rate, so I want to do something about it.
Jawaban dari ChatGPT:

JUJUR, kalau mau ku-tailor lagi tambahin “di dept ini ada professor x yang papernya kujadiin references di thesis s2 aku, meeting them and having an in-person discussion with them would be an honour for me and enriching my experiences in the academia”, terus how “one of the elective course yaitu xxx would help me solving problem x that I faced during my research in xxx”, “With our limited resources here in Indonesia, we still couldn’t be able to work with method x, but this course offers the training in this specific method”, “selain taking benefits from this course, I would also be able to offer fresh perspective from developing nations point of view”, “I also can offer cultural exchange”.
LUAR BIASA CHAT GPT. Tapi ya emang pelajarannya dari experiment-ku di atas barusan adalah: ChatGPT is a machine anyway that help shaping our text to be in a readable version, grammatically correct, dan bahkan bisa di-custom juga to give certain nuance/vibe.
Nah gimana supaya ingredientsnya/inputnya bagus?
Makanya kadang perlu waktu lama banget buat orang nulis PS tu bukan masalah nulisnya. Pake ChatGPT tadi itu juga 10 detik selesai. Tapi mikirin kontennya, nyari ingredientsnya, bacanya, researchnya. Semangat teman-teman semua. Dah gitu dulu aja bacotnya hari ini. Ku kayanya in 30 mins mau wrap up dan pulang. Mampir Sainsbury dulu beli tissue toilet. Sampe rumah ngelaundry.
Selamat menjalani minggu, teman-teman tumblrku!
